Played the free demo and immediately bought the full game, I put off playing it for years before this as i assumed it was just clickbait with the more revealing clothes, but man this game hits you right in the feels the more you play. It has various endings with the final 3 being absolutely heart-breaking, definitely recommend
The combat is fun, the writing is incredible (at least for video game standards), the soundtrack is beautiful, and a few minutes after I had finished the game…I was still crying. No other video game has made me cry the way that NieR: Automata did.
(Ending K also had me laughing 3 minutes after I got it. Highly recommended playing this game.)
I’ve heard some call this game a masterpiece, this is of course an overstatement.
The 45min tutorial/intro introduces the player to a few different mechanics (combat, platforming, character mod chips, various locked camera angles that can be as creative as sometimes sitting). This intro isn’t easy, there are no checkpoints and people will likely die at the boss several times.
After this, you can get more into the meat of the game which takes place in a quite sizeable sandbox world. Big area’s connected with passageways and some more linear area’s.
Visuals: 6/10
I’ll start with the visuals, the character design is great, but the robot enemies have be repetitive and lack variation. With environment, the area’s do go for a reclaimed by nature type of beauty. In some area’s with the right lightning, the game can look nice.
But mostly, the visuals are kinda bad for a 2017 PS4 game, they look in many instances like a last gen game. Hazy/whitewashed distant assets like cliffs, trees with overexposure lighting in the sky above them. Bare grass textures with a few blades of actual grass. Some bland/empty buildings and colour palettes. I’m sure water has noise when looking at it.
Animations for combat are excellent and quite cool looking.
Sound: 9/10
I’d rate this quite highly, mainly because of the music. It’s lovely, envokes a sense of loneliness or at other times music fit for exploring an ancient civilization with an epic feel. Great stuff. The voice acting is fine, nothing to complain out.
Gameplay: 7/10
The gameplay is a mixed bag. The combat looks great but really there’s not much to it, you button mash the same looking/skill set enemies, and try to evade their attacks. You can shoot them with your floating pod robot too. The bosses and one or two shmup throwbacks (think R-type) are interesting, and some battles are projectile based (like the recent Returnal).
You mainly traverse the open areas and complete main and side quests, you can find items, be awarded some, buy different mod chips (that alter your skills and attributes), new weapons and some customizations.
Some of the fixed camera angles and quest tracking with the very basic looking map, can make it a chore to take search some area’s or focus heavily on side quests. Also the map design can be somewhat PS2/PS3 era in some area’s. The only good thing of 2B can run incredibly fast as she’s an android, and can double jump or glide with the help of your pod bot. This keeps alleviate some of the chore like/monotonous map design issues.
There is also teleporter boxes for game save, fast travel and such.
Regarding combat, the difficulty is a bit erratic (the intro may be too hard for some player’s, some battles throughout can be easy or much harder despite leveling up and you don’t want to be under leveled at a boss).
Story: 8/10
The storyline is pretty good, it tries to be thoughtful and interesting, and the character’s (2B, 9S & 2A) are interesting/likeable enough. It should pique the player’s curiosity enough to keep following it.
Overall: 4/5
Definitely not a masterpiece, but it’s still quite a good game. And for 9 now, I think everyone should give it a go.
If a new player goes into it aware:
* It is a bit outdated in level/quest design.
* Combat looks great but can be a bit repetitive.
* Can be quite difficult at some points including the intro.
They’ll be more likely to stick with it past the intro, and reap the goodness that awaits underneath.
Combat is amazing the story made me feel conflicted and actually felt attached to the main cast visual elements of scenery transitions in gameplay differnet playstyles
The gimmicky endings I disliked I got a virus and died and felt annoyed with the game after such a good experience didn’t like 9S’ hacking mechanic and much preferred a rt combat system
For ng+ I got boring replaying the levels from different perspectives I felt far less tension and rewatching some cutscenes made the experience dull.
Overall a good game, great music, great plot, great characters and some strange mechanics.
I got the game after reading the review saying that the DLC code doesn’t work in Australia, but I put it into my ps5, and the code redeemed. So I guess it does work.

Meraviglioso in ogni sua sfaccettatura, soprattutto Lore ecc, gioco molto profondo e con un grande lato nascosto tutto da scoprire.
Nier is a journey of ideals and spirit, asking many questions to the player and the characters in the world. with a stunning soundtrack and an amazing story nier builds up its narrative and story to ask you some very important questions in the end. Not everything needs an answer, thankyou yoko taro

In terms of the game, I’ve yet to finish it, but I’m thoroughly enjoying the game. It’s not perfect, but for the amount I paid, I’d say it’s definitely worth it. The difficulty curve is a bit steep and it I tried it on easy, just to see whwt it was like, and I’d say it became too easy, so it balances weird. The contrast between meditative calm sections and some of the most visually busy gameplay I’ve had is also something of note. But it’s a fun ride, i hope the story has a good finish.
As for the delivery service, absolutely no faults there. Arrived next day. Great value product. Undamaged.
This game is incredible! From its brilliant combat mechanics, open world exploration and tremendously thought provoking story. Make sure you play through to unlock all the endings. You WILL NOT regret it! One of my top 5 games of ALL TIME!
I have played video games continually since the days of the ZX Spectrum – about 35 years, dipping into most major franchises. This is my all-time favourite game and not many others even come close. The story is compelling, complex and interesting – I’ve played through all the main endings three times and I’m still realising the significance of some casual interactions and situations. I’m not very bothered about combat in games, but it’s good here if that’s what you like. There’s not a huge cast but each one is well fleshed out, complex and engaging. The soundtrack is simply sensational. A PhD thesis could be written about the philosophy of the game. A couple of warnings – ignore any reviews by people who have not completed all the main endings (A to E) – you have to play the whole thing to fully appreciate this masterpiece. Also, be warned that you cannot save for about the first hour of the game and if you die you’ll have to start again. If that bothers you, play it on easy until you get a chance to save and then increase the difficulty to what you want.
Nier automata un gioco sorprendente, mi ha conquistata. Avevo letto opinioni contrastanti, ma personalmente uno dei migliori a cui abbia giocato. La colonna sonora la ciliegina sulla torta. Il combat system pu essere macchinoso all’inizio, soprattutto perch coinvolge molto tasti del controller, e ci si deve abituare un po’. Ma dopo poche ore di gioco diventa tutto pi semplice. Un suggerimento: non fatevi scoraggiare dall’ostico prologo, un battesimo di fuoco ma una volta superato il gioco scorre liscio come l’olio!

Not gonna lie, games are usually stressful. You’re constantly shooting or punching something. You do that in this game too, but it’s the pace and the music that creates a very relaxing and satisfying experience.

Spedizione amazon come al solito puntuale e veloce. prodotto intatto, ma devo mettere 4 stelle perch c’era il disco non fissato, libero nella scatola, ma fortunatamente non graffiato e/o danneggiato.
I’m only about 8 hours in but it’s shaping up to be a very fun game well worth the money. Character action game with bullet hell segments interesting story and amazing art direction.

Questa versione (Goty) continene molti componenti aggiuntivi quali il Dlc, un tema per il menu ps4, degli avatar per il profilo e vari oggetti cosmetici (questi componenti non sono installati su disco ma possibile scaricarli tramite codice inserito all’interno della custodia, perci richiede una connessione ad internet)
Nota aggiuntiva, la copertina del disco reversibile, personalmente appena arrivato l’ho subito girata perch artisticamente e visivamente molto pi bella della copertina normale.
Consiglio di guardare qualche video di gameplay prima dell’acquisto perch un gioco specifico, con meccaniche e azioni che talvolta si dovr ripetere per proseguire ma assicuro che vale davvero la pena per il prezzo a cui venduto.

El juego lleg suelto pero sin ningn tipo de problema.
This game blew me away story’s great fighting’s great it’s even got some shoot em up elements for good measure. It does get a bit weird in places but I enjoyed it, liked it that much I’ve played through it twice and definitely gong to do it again.
Nier Automata est un jeu magnifique, il faut y jouer pour comprendre se que je veut dire, bref je le recommande.
I quite like Nier automata. Got this as a Christmas present. It has elements of hack and slash with Rpg style of elements aswell. Loads of open areas and some mini quests aswell. Gameplay is fun and you can change settings so if your a rookie or veteran of these types of games then there are settings suited for both players.
Tutto ok, sarebbe stato meglio se i dlc fossero stati inseriti nel dvd.
Game arrived exactly as described, branded new and sealed plays brilliant, all round amazing product and game, definitely reccomend
I have to admit to trying this game a couple of years ago and not getting on with it. With the game of the year edition, I thought I’d give Nier another go.
All I’ll say is stick with the first hour or so, you can save your game once you beat the first boss. Once this task is complete the player is rewarded with a rich gaming experience.
I really recommend this game if you like RPG’s or are bored with the usual crap AAA titles.

Questa versione contiene TUTTI i dlc (che comprendono varie skin per i pod ed accessori estetici per i personaggi oltre a delle arene dove combattere per ottenere pi denaro e skin per i personaggi che richiamano quelle del primo NieR) non sono, purtroppo, contenuti su disco, ma in un codice monouso contenuto all’interno della confezione.
Per il resto il gioco lo stesso. Inoltre la cover ribaltabile molto pi bella e presenta illustrazioni diverse in base a come si gira, se si ribalta, di fronte si ha 2B nella foresta davanti al gigante morto del regno della foresta e con il logo del gioco, mentre sul retro c’ l’artwork della copertina senza loghi.
Inizialmente ero un po’ dubbioso sulla qualit di questo titolo, ma giocandolo devo dire che si tratta di un ottimo gioco con buon gameplay e storia.
L’unica cosa sulla quale si potrebbe non essere contenti il DLC, il quale offre veramente poco, quindi la differenza tra l’edizione standard e la Game of the Yorha Edition quasi nulla.

What’s funny is I was expecting a UK version since that was the picture used for this product. Im in the US and got a US version so it worked out. I’d give 5 stars but the case was damaged and doesn’t close. Im not a collector and all the content was all there so I’m happy with the game. The game itself is unique but borrows a lot of concepts from other games (which isnt bad). If you like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, and Astral Chain- this game is a must.

He querido esperar a terminar el juego para evaluarlo. La historia y la jugabilidad de 10. Le pongo 4 estrellas solamente porque su rendimiento en PS4 Pro es bastante mejorable. Cada pocos segundos me dan pequeos tirones que te sacan bastante del juego. He ledo en Internet y por lo visto le pasa a bastante gente (tanto PS4 normal como PS4 pro).
En cuanto al producto fsico en s, perfectamente sellado y el envo sin problemas.
Secuela del juego de culto de la anterior generacin NieR. Este mejora el combate y la historia sigue siendo una maravilla. La banda sonora podra ser perfectamente la mejor de la generacin. Esta versin incluye algunos DLC, un fondo de pantalla y alguna cosilla ms. Vale totalmente la pena para los amantes de los RPG y la accin.

Probably one of my favourite games to date Gameplay 10/10 Action 10/10 Story 10/10 Music 10/10 this version also comes with a DLC which definitely improves the games replayability with combat challenges couldn’t recommend it enough
Juego indispensable para todo amante de este arte. La ambientacin y la banda sonora son una obra maestra.
Its hard to define what this game is but in its simplest form its more of an open world RPG hack and slash with fast paced fluid combat. But its not just that, the game opens with you flying in an aircraft/mech type machine and this is what initially put me off but the flying and shooting is really responsive and fun and its not long after you fly inside a large building dodging various obstacles before crash landing revealing your character, a girl dressed as a french maid wielding 2 katanas…. Yes it sounds ridiculous but that’s what i like about it, its different. There’s so many other quirky things about this game that its best to discover them for yourself, combined with the intriguing story Nier is really something special.
Then you get a feel for the combat and while the controls can feel weird at first i soon realised i was dodging and parrying better than i do in most games. It wasn’t long after the game was switching to a 2.5D side scroller then a top down action game and so many other styles of gameplay. Then after around 2 hours you’re put out in the open world and you realise just how many different elements there are to this game.
Not only is the gameplay impressive but it also includes one of the best soundtracks to a game period. Despite this being my first time playing Nier the soundtrack sounds so nostalgic and memorable. Keiichi Okabe & Keigo Hoashi have managed to make every piece of music fit each environment/area perfectly while also emphasising feelings of emotion during key points in the story.
I’ve always considered a good soundtrack to be such an important element of a good game and so few games get it right but Nier just sets a standard that will be almost impossible to beat.
Im just a few hours through the game so far but can already say that this is not just the game of the year its the game of the entire last decade. I managed to pick this up at Argos for 13.99 and is the first time i’ve thought to myself “i should have paid more for this”
If you dont play this game this console generation you may end up missing out on one of the best experiences on the PS4. Feel free to leave a helpful vote so i know this review is reaching its intended audience or i convinced you to try this amazing game.
Nier: Automata is a very special game. It doesn’t have the massive open world of the average AAA title, and it can’t quite match up to them graphically either, but what it does have is something that many games are sorely lacking. It has a soul. On the surface it’s mostly just a game where you go around hacking robots to bits. The combat itself is fun but fairly simple, it’s varied enough that it never gets boring, but it’s not really the star of the show. Where the game really shines is in the depth of the story that slowly unfolds as you play, and in the beautiful accompanying musical score. Those 2 things combine to really suck you into the world, and I found myself caring about the characters more than I ever thought was possible for a video game. Be warned though, this game has a clear message, and if you play it all the way to ending E (which is necessary if you want to get the full experience) you might not be the same afterwards. It’s at least likely to give you a serious case of the feels. It’s been a month since I finished the game and I still find myself drifting off and reflecting on what a truly wonderful experience it was. I think it’s probably the best game i’ve ever played to be honest. If you don’t like to think then Nier: Automata might not be for you, but if you do then you owe it to yourself to play it, because it’s a masterpiece.
Gioco molto profondo, con musiche stupende e un gameplay frenetico e divertente. Avevo delle aspettative pi basse per questo gioco ma con grande piacere ho scoperto un capolavoro. Se proprio dovessi trovare un difetto, la rigiocabilit per scoprire i vari finali molto interessante poiche ti permette di vedere alcune cose sotto un nuovo punto di vista ma potevano fare qualcosina in piu in termini di gameplay che risulta troppo ripetitivo.

Honestly one of the best games I’ve played in years. It really does make you think and granted it is repetitive and quite grindy tbh but overall just an excellent game. I mean the soundtrack for example has literally nonsensical lyrics in it dubbed chaos language but it’s so well put together that it’s one of the best soundtracks I’ve heard in a videogame. Be warned though the game is very, very dark. It will make you think and its a game you can sink hours into. Worth every penny and a hell of a game. Must buy if you love hack n slash and open world games.

The gameplay offers different modes during your play through of the game and it quite unique in comparison to other games.
The music in this game is epic. It is the best soundtrack I have ever heard in a game and in combination with the events that occur in the game it is absolutely something that needs to be experienced.
The story is no doubt a bit eccentric, however its most definitely something that has great emotion when paired with the fantastic soundtrack. The amount of content in this game is astounding when you factor in the side missions, there is much value to be had from this game. It is a game which has excellent quality across the majority of the game, the only slight marks against it are some of the background graphics (EG Buildings in the city) can look a bit drab due to the choice of colour palette, however you can forgive small issues such as this when you look at what the game delivers.
I cant recommend this game enough, anyone who enjoys video games as a medium needs to experience this game.

In a gaming landscape full of sequels, clones, and games that want to keep you always-online, this game is a wonderful and much-needed example of a true lover of games making something for others who really appreciate the medium, and all it is capable of. A beautiful world, engaging story, and extremely human (or not) characters.
As a bonus, as well as the extra items and DLC pack, with this version you also receive the previously unreleased PS4 wallpaper and avatars, and very cool reversible box art, featuring the characters without their blindfolds.
Highly recommended. Make sure to keep playing after the first ending to experience the full story.
The DLC is a download code but that only makes sense. The disc is probably a 25GB blueray. I know from playing the PC port of the vanilla game that was around 26GB to download. Then 45GB ISH when installed. Logically, much to some people’s dismay, you will not fit anything extra onto an already crammed disc. The DLC however, is great!
The theme you get with the game is nice and the avatar set is also nice. A neat bonus, nothing to write to the queen about though.
I use a non Pro PS4 and the performance is acceptable. Only got this so I have a physical copy. Many frame drops but never becomes unplayable. If you don’t care about physical media, and have a PC (there is no such thing as a PC that can run this game perfectly – Automata speedrunning community) that’s decent. Get it on there instead for a much more enjoyable experience.
Overall, for 30. Seriously worth a buy, you’d be insane not to honestly. Great graphics even though I notice the downgrade in quality from PC. The best soundtrack literally ever. Amazing gameplay, phenomenal story and writing.
Keep in mind these are only my opinions.
