OMG, how did I live without this. I use it every day. Everything you do in a conventional oven you can do in this, and there’s no mess or splattering. Timing is a bit of trial and error, but you soon pick it up. Steaks, toasties, bacon, toasties, and even roast joints. I’ve never managed to make pork cracking right, but this does it perfect, fabulous piece of kit, and so so easy to clean, just wipe with kitchen towel. Also saves time, and therefore energy costs. Buy one, you won’t regret it.

I ordered this for my elderly father and he is very pleased with how well it cooks and quick. Cooking single meals in the Ninja is probably cheaper than putting stuff in the oven, and with the price of gas going up it will probably cover the investment costs.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersWe were procrastinating about getting an air fryer for a while but having finally done our research, we decided on the Ninja.

Best decision we ever made! Not only is it clean, quick and convenient but we have never tasted food like it! I was concerned food wouldn’t be crispy enough, but I needn’t have worried. Its crisper than being fried or grilled.

Takes away that greasy oily residue and minimises those smokey smells.

Only down side is it takes a couple of uses to get rid of that first use “plastic-y” smell but other than that it’s a winner.

We went for the AK100 3.8ltr size as there is only two of us and its ample for what we need.

So don’t procrastinate as long as we did, get one and ditch that deep fat fryer. Good for you and good for environment.

    Winner, winner chippie dinner!

Why didn't we buy one sooner?

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAfter everyone I know is getting one I thought I’d add one to the kitchen.

It doesn’t take much space and sits nicely next to the kettle.

The air fryer is very fast, cooks well and I always spray a little olive oil not to dry the food.

It’s a healthy way of eating fried or oven food and I do use it once or twice a week now.

In times of rising energy costs this air fryer is a real game changer. No longer do I have to heat up the oven to bake, fry, roast or reheat a meal. Quick and easy to use, takes up less space than a microwave and the food comes out so much nicer too! It’s not just a fancy and healthier way to cook chips, although those do come out fluffy and crisp, I’ve used it for cooking sausages, chicken pieces, salmon, reheating a slice of pie where the pastry that’s stayed lovely and flaky. This model has a dehydration function too that I haven’t used yet however have some fresh herbs to try later. A good investment and I’ve seen people buy a cheaper brand only to upgrade later. I grabbed mine when I saw it on special and very pleased with my purchase.

I have cooked a variety of items so far…..only had it a couple of weeks so much more experimenting to do. Makes oven chips much better than in the oven. Cooks chicken breasts beautifully in 20 minutes. Cooks burgers without stinking out the house with greasy smelly smoke. Great for steaks. Re-heats pies to perfection. Haven’t tried baking in it yet but will give it a try. Love that by selecting ‘sync’ different foods are ready at the same time. Highly recommended.

I have had an air fryer before but not a Ninja. It was still working but after three years good use it looked past its best. I always wanted to try a Ninja.

At first I wasn’t overly impressed on comparison but after a while I got used to it and now love it. It cooks much quicker and I never heat it for the recommended 3 minutes. I never did with my old one so don’t with this. I use the roast function when I need a gentler heat as it can overly dry out food on the airfry function.

It’s fine for me as I am on my own and the basket is sufficient but not as big as my old one. I don’t think it would be suitable for more than two persons.

It is very easy to clean, not too big and has suction feet.

This is so useful the functions offer a choice for each basket also to enable different cooking modes to finish at the same time .I’ve made a roast (chicken roast potatoes parsnips carrot’s & Yorkshire puddings ) I did cook greens on the hob . I’ve noticed the time is much quicker & using less electric., The unit is easy clean I choose to wash the baskets by hand but they can be put in the dishwasher . The unit sits under my worktop it doesn’t get hot on the top of the air fryer when using .I do pull it out to allow the hot air behind to circulate when using it’s not heavy I’m 72 & can manage this . I’ve had this air fryer for two weeks & tried different recipes I’ve found on line . Overall very pleased with my ninja air frye

How did I manage without this air frye

  19. Anonymous says:

you can set both at different times and temperature and they finish at the same time. This cooks faster than a normal fan oven and gives a some what better crispyness on things like chips or even a good old sausage.
If i had a better oven i wouldn’t buy this though. Ultimately we are just lazy and we want to be more lazy by finding shortcuts lol which saves us time to be more lazy in other lazy activities we participate i

We were given one of these excellent machines as a Christmas present.

Very useful, very easy to use and incredibly versatile.

After using this a few times, we have bought a second one to take with us when we go away with our caravan; obviously, this presupposes an electric hook-up but it is much more efficient at cooking than using on-board 6kg bottled gas – mobile leisure users of which appear to be treated as low-priority by a certain well-known (?notorious?) national supplier viz. C**or G*s UK) which continues to issue LPG supplies on what seems to be a ‘war-time rationing’ basis.

All in all, a *highly* recommended product.

I have been looking for an air fryer for a while. I was recommended this one by a friend. I was dubious about the price, but now I have it, it’s well worth the money. Since having it my oven is very rarely used and I can see a difference in my electricity usage, due to not having to preheat it. You can cook such a wide range of foods and the booklet that comes with it is a good guide as well as recipes found on the internet. It is also very easy to clean. Yes it’s expensive, but now I have it I will never look back.

Ordered this because my wife seen it in John Lewis, but delivery was faster with Amazon and the same price. I did think it would be one of those things that are on the side in the kitchen used a few times the relegated to the back of the cupboard, but to be honest it gets used every day, you can cook all sorts in it and it’s fast, very easy to clean and according to my electric smart meter used considerably less power than using the oven. “Result”

With the rising cost of domestic energy under the microscope it is more important than ever to gear up for the tough months, possibly years ahead. That’s where this product shines brighest, with its duel zone air fryer system and slick design it makes cooking simple, delicious and cost effective.
It’s so easy to use that even my 7 year old nephew is now completely fascinated by all things Air Fryer, even to the point he’s offered to cook if he gets to use it. Bonus!

Not a product to missed! It is so much easier to use than the Ninja Foodi 7in1 as it’s literally just 3 taps to create a perfectly meal every single time. Magic!

The lightweight trays and easy to grip handles make it a doddle to use for my Mom who struggles with severe authritis, yet even she has started to enjoy cooking again.

    Roast Chicken
    Steak
    Sweet Potato Fries
    Bacon

My daughter recommended this to me. Took the plunge and glad that I did. Works well on air fry, sausages, bacon, chips, Yorkshire puddings, lamb chops. Roast setting for heating ready meals, salmon in foil or anything you would do in a fan oven. Reheat for things that are cooked and can’t go in the microwave such as sausage rolls, pies etc. A word of warning though, you would be wise to reduce advised temperatures for a fan oven by 10c and reduce the cooking time. So a gadget that works and I must be saving on electricity as its obviously far smaller than the fan oven. Instructions are not very good and ignore the Roast and Reheat settings but apply some commonsense and it’s fun finding out.

Best purchase I have made for a long, long time.
Easy to use temp and timer controls (temp changes in degrees of 10 and timer changes in minutes).
Have cooked various things so far from sausages and roast potatoes to cheese on toast (with ciabatta rolls) and pies and they all cook excellently. You will need to adjust temps and times when cooking, for example; if instructions are to cook at 190c for 15 mins, I would suggest setting the temp to 170 and the time to10-12 minutes.
3.8l compartment is more than enough for 1 person although don’t try to cook a whole chicken in it unless it’s a small one.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI had a tower air fryer which I used a lot, but with my husband, 2 kids and myself, I’ve been meaning to get a larger unit for some time. I finally took the plunge and splurged on the Ninja Foodi dual air fryer, giving me the room to cook more and two seperate items at once. Tonight I did fries in one side and BBQ chicken griddles in the other for my two children which took 15 minutes! The functions are easy to use and are self explanatory, but a helpful manual and booklet gives you illustrated instructions how to use and care for the unit, the best settings and temps to use for various items and a few recipe suggestions at the back. I synced my items so my fries could cook for 20 minutes and the griddles at 15 minutes would start 5 minutes after the fries started cooking to ensure cooking completed at the same time. This is a great function, however I found my fries cooked quicker than expected so I reduced the temp and cooking time. Unfortunately the fries did not hold on this occasion and wait for the griddles to catch up, the sync function only works at the start of the cooking set up and as far as I can see, although the food can be adjusted temp and time wise at any time, it will not resync during the cooking period. I may discover a way to do this with more use, as I only got the unit today and it will take some practice on seeing how long foods take to cook. However the two items cooked to perfection and the unit did what it claimed to do. The crisper and drawers clean easily, I’m very pleased so far!

    Wonder Gadge

Would have given 5 stars but for the fact that the compartments don’t seem to work at the same temperature, even if the same temperature and mode is selected one compartment browns the food more than the other. Not a problem generally as I mostly cook two different foods at the same time but it would be an issue if the same type of food needed to be cooked in both compartments. It cooks a lot quicker even than a fan oven.

If you are wondering if you need an air fryer, TRUST me you do, I’ve cooked whole chicken, steak, sausages, bacon, toast, chips, fish, potatoes, mushrooms, turkey, beef, gammon and so many other things in this air fryer it’s so worth it and with a family of 6 the size is perfect, even when my oven/hobs broke down, I just cooked all our meals in the air fryer.

Get one, I can’t recommend one enough, it’s also easy to use and can be set like a normal oven too.

The airfryer stopped working and so I put in a troubleshooting request to the makers to try to fix it. They were slow to respond but eventually did so. After many emails back and forth (and some repetition of information) they offered to replace the unit with a new one. This was impressive as the airfryer was 4 months out of guarantee. So I’m now impressed with the company rather than annoyed about the unit’s apparent fragility. Let’s see if the new one lasts longer. I hope so – the Ninja is the best airfryer I’ve had.

This one we bought because it was a WHICH? ‘best buy’, even though I had never heard of the brand, and a third of the price of another ‘best buy’ with a better-known name. I haven’t used it as it was a gift to my son, but he has raved about it – and that’s pretty unusual for a 21 year old who is big into gaming and sees feeding himself as a necessary chore! It’s actually seen him experimenting with a few new types of foods and buying some new ingredients to make different meals, so I’m secretly delighted to see that he’s branching out a little bit because of how quick and easy he’s finding it to make delicious food for himself!

Easy to clean, sits comfortably on my worksurface (locals here call it a bunker), it’s fast, it’s quiet, it has loads of options.

I really do like this unit – and is far more efficient than an oven. Have cooked a number of things from gnocchi to a full chicken (perfect). The only down side, and it’s nothing really, I just wished I was able to create dried fruit a bit quicker.

I will say, the size I bought is very suited to a single person or couple, go for the bigger version if you’re a family.

This was an upgrade from an air fryer that had a rotating pan. I did wonder if the fact that this didn’t rotate would be a disadvantage but it wasn’t at all. It cooks more evenly than the old rotating one.

So far I’ve cooked Blueberry Muffins in it, toad in the hole, as well as all the usual stuff. I’ve managed to fit 4 large muffins in at a time.

It bakes very evenly and doesn’t scorch the top of the food if the temperature is set right.

The pan with the attached handle is very ergonomically designed and makes it easy to shake the food mid cook.

It doesn’t give of too much heat and I have mine placed on the worktop underneath the kitchen wall cupboards.

Overall it’s a very useful addition to a kitchen and will save using the oven every which in turn should be more economical. Also great for students without an oven.

I use this for so much more than air frying chips. I’ve roasted vegetables, cooked onion bhajis and samosas from frozen, cooked my salmon in foil perfectly; in fact if I need to turn on the oven for anything, I first think could it go in the Ninja? It takes a fraction of the time it would take in the oven and I can remove the pan and check on progress throughout. Initially I thought this would just be an expensive way to fry a few chips, but now I wouldn’t be without it. Highly recommended.

    CONS:
*It’s pretty much one meal at a time. I could get a couple of chicken cutlets and chips/fries in this that would be a normal portion. Get a bigger machine if you need to cook for a family.
*There’s a tiny bit of cleaning after each use.
*You have to learn it a bit, get used to the timings.
*You’ll probably want to buy a food thermometer as you won’t believe how quick it has cooked food.

    PROS:
*You can basically do deep-fried food with a tiny fraction of the oil.
    *You can bake.
*You can dehydrate (haven’t tried yet.)
    *Something in tinfoil won’t explode.
    *Dishwasher safe.
*Probably save electricity over the oven.
    *Billions of tips/recipes online.
*Free up space in your freezer from all the disappointing oven fries that you’ll never eat as they are so inferior to the hand-cut fries you can now eat.
*If you ever get food deliveries that take a while you can quickly reheat them in this. For instance kfc is slightly out of my range and the fries are always lukewarm and the chicken is ok but would be better hotter. Grab a piece of chicken then heat up the rest.
*best way to reheat pizza imo.

Wish I had purchased one of these earlier we have hardly used the oven since we got it. It is great for roasting vegetables and potatoes. Also for crispy chicken and chips. Have also used air fryer for fish in breadcrumbs and makes fish crispy on outside whilst keeping fish soft inside. We bought a wire tray separately so that we could do two different foods at a time. Need to be careful as food on wire tray cooks faster so may need to add food later in cooking process or adjust temperature. Overall very pleased with this item it is very easy to use and cooks food much quicker than oven.

Really great airfryer, particularly good for meat but roasting veg also works. I haven’t found a way of getting truly “crispy” chips but I suspect you only get that with lots of oil in a deep fryer. If you are doing coated food might pay to spray on some oil to get that really golden coat and would avoid wet batter or floury coating. The temp control is useful though in all honesty I tend to just use the air fry setting and then adjust how long I cook things for. Typical chicken breast is done in about 15 mins and super moist. You do need to shake the tray a couple of time to get the outside nice and evenly cooked especially if you load it up but it’s no hardship. Ours rarely leaves the kitchen top since it’s used nearly every meal in some way.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat appliance. Easy to use, easy to clean. Just big enough for 2 person portions of chips. The cooking pauses when you pull out tray to check the food, which is a bonus as I thought I read a review that said it didnt.

Tip.. I set temp for 10deg less than recipe recommends, otherwise I’ve found it overdone a little.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe were cautious in deciding to purchase a Air Fryer as there are so many on the market, but after a lot of research we decided to purchase the Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer, and what a great decision this Fryer is without doubt the best, its simple and easy to use and the frying and cooking result is something else, so if you are thinking of buying a Air Fryer this is the one to have.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLove this air fryer. It is brilliant for doing 2 things at a time eg sausages in one basket and chips in the other. You can set each basket individually which is great if they have different cooking times, higher temp etc. You can even bake cakes in it! Comes with recipe book. It is easy to clean by hand unlike some other air fryers we have owned. Highly recommend this quality bit of kit. Every kitchen should have one!

I bought this as a short term solution to my oven breaking during lockdown. I never owned a traditional deep fat fryer and to be honest had never heard of an air fryer until fairly recently but I am totally converted. This is so easy to use and clean and best of all there is no smell (as the only veggie living with a family of meat eaters this really helps)

It does just what you would expect if you read the info.

The drawers look restrictive but a medium size chicken fits in fairly well. So easy to check what’s going on.

The crisping function works really well. It seems to both crisp and wring that last bit of fat out of the meat. Usually chicken or turkey in my case.

Syncing your cooking is a handy function too. Although in practice its always a good idea to rest your meat before it is served. Spuds really don’t need to sit around…

I’ve been debating over getting an air fryer forever. After reading thousands of reviews I finally decided on this one and I’m so pleased with it! It’s so easy to use especially if you have never owned an air fryer before. Simple buttons and instructions make cooking very easy and it’s super quick to clean. Chips are great and starting to look at different recipes to try. The fact you don’t even need to use oil is a great health benefit and it also uses much less electricity than putting the main oven on so that’s a bonus. Overall I’m really pleased with my purchase. Only thing I’d say is it’s a lot bigger than you imagine and the flex length is pretty short so think about where you will be using and storing it.

I have been looking for one of these for a while but found the fryer sold out everywhere. Finally I was able to buy one on this Amazon Cooks everything to perfection once you have got the hang of the timings. Easy to clean and fits nicely in the corner of my kitchen. Cooked a whole chicken in it last weekend. It was really fast . Lovely crispy skin with nice moist meat. Not baked in it yet but that will be some thing to try out at some point.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersOriginally bought this so I could quickly cook what the kids wanted during lockdown. It seemed overkill to heat a whole oven for a tray of chicken nuggets so using the air fryer for 10 minutes instead of 25 minutes in the oven achieved that goal. Since buying it though, I’ve really expanded my cooking portfolio. I typically roast a chicken to a better standard than in the oven in 50 minutes, so we have a meal of roast chicken. Then with the leftovers we have a chicken curry (not in the air fryer). I also cook jacket potatoes more often – rolled in olive oil and garlic salt, no need to fork it or foil it, just give the pot a rustle every 15 mins to fully cooked at 45 minutes. Cooks to the darkest brown and more delicious then in the oven as well as quicker. it cooks smoked bacon to fat charred perfection. Peri Peri Chips out of the freezer taste like nandos fries in about 10 minutes. I am sure there is more I will do with it, but hopefully this inspires anyone thinking of investing in one – just make sure to leave room around it as it gets quite hot cooking.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis is our first air fryer. Quite a few of my friends had told me that they loved their air fryer so after a bit of market research we chose the Ninja because of its large basket (we are a family of 5), ease of use, and it’s easy cleaning.

It cooks food in about 75% of the stated time on a packet. Eg. If the packet says oven cook in 20 minutes, this cooks it in 15 minutes. That’s great, but what’s greater is that there is no warm up time. So that 15 minutes cooking time is probably half the time compared to the oven as it would take a while for an oven to warm up.

We have cooked stuffing balls in 8 minutes, chicken nuggets in 8 minutes and cinnamon buns in about 9 minutes. Washing up is one large bowl and the tray at the bottom. Easy.

Quick and simple, much easier than a conventional oven! Roasting potatoes, parsnips, carrots or any other veg cuts the time in half and crisps much better too! I just have to check halfway, give it a quick toss and back in. Cleaning is also much easier too.

Making chicken katsu with Panko breadcrumbs is so much easier and quicker too!

Dicing some stale bread also makes for great croutons for salads. The possibilities are endless but best of all, easier to wash!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this to replace a 4-year-old Duronic air fryer. This gave great service and, if there was a larger version, I would have stayed with Duronic. I went for Ninja after being impressed with my Shark vacuum cleaner. Shark and Ninja are the same company. It took a while to get used to but I am now very impressed with it, It is easy to clean apart from removing the trivet whilst still hot. I have a burn on my forearm to remind me. I solved this problem by fitting a keyring which enables me to get some leverage under it to remove. A bit like me: simple but effective.
To date no problems. I am able to handle much bigger portions of food and even roasted a beef joint very successfully. Also toasted sandwiches which are a nice addition to mid-day lunch. As is my custom,. I shall update if there are any problems but, to date, I am quietly impressed with my Ninja.

    Does the job rather well

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI don’t normally cook but this has made it easy for me. I used to hate the cooking time needed but this really has cut down the time for me. I like that I can roast and fry things in it. You have to get used to getting the temperature and length of time to cook right. I have had quite a few crispy chickens. I’ve made loads of health snacks like sweet potato fries and it actually comes out well.

I can honestly say that it has reduced my cooking and cleaning duration greatly and I use it almost every day now. My only downside is that I would avoid putting it on and walking away cause you can easily over cook your food.

Thank you for reading my review, I hope you have found it helpful.

Golden Review Award: 29 From Our UsersWhen I purchased my Ninja AF100UK air fryer, I fully expected that I would be using it to cook a few chips a little more healthily. How wrong I was. Yes the chips are excellent but so are many other things.
Steak is incredible, because you are cooking from the outside in, it tasted as good as any steak I have ever eaten in a restaurant. I have even cooked a 1.5 kg chicken in it. I put a little oil over the chicken, used my usual seasoning and cooked it for 50 minutes breast side down, turned it over and cooked it for a further 10 minutes, it tasted as if it had been spit roasted. I am a keen cook and have really enjoyed experimenting. Roasted chickpeas, part baked bread, bacon and sausages, toasted sandwiches and so much more. Anything you can cook in an oven or under a grill, you can cook in an AF but you need to check the times, AF cook a little more quickly and use a meat thermometer to check internal temperatures. This trendy little gadget is brilliant. We are a retired couple and find it a perfect size for the two of us.

Want to make the household cook redundant? Then bring in the Ninja. She, he, or it, can serve it all up speedily and cleanly– and without any fuss or bother (or argument) almost as quick as it takes to get a traditional oven warming up.
Now, if you REALLY want to hear the open sizzle and smell of bacon cooking, or the cloud forming in its own oil from the sausages etc etc. then good luck to you. We’re sticking to the two drawers opening in unison (yes, they can be timed to do so) and delivering the same, or better, as you wait by the cooker rings.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe have only had our Ninja for about a week, but so far so good! Everything we have tried has turned out well, and we haven’t used our old oven once since it arrived. Things take roughly the same time to cook as in the oven, but as it is smaller (I’m guessing), it won’t take as much electricity to use. It is also a heathier way to cook. As others have said, it did smell a bit the first couple of times we used it. However, this didn’t impact on the food itself, and has now stopped. Highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersWe had a Tefal Actifry but after a couple of years that completely gave up the ghost. The reason why we bought an Actifry was due to the paddle, but we always felt there was something “off” about it. It didn’t feel very well built, the paddle broke after about a year and the fit between the lid and body was poor, so a lot of hot air escaped. It was also quite noisy.

After a couple of years of light/moderate use the heater element completely burned out so we got rid and decided to go for a non-paddle air fryer.

Having seen the reviews of Tefal’s – again a lot of citing poor build quality, we looked for another brand and happened across the Ninja air fryer. Persuaded by the very favourable reviews we decided to get one. A wise choice!

Now obviously the major difference between the Actifry and the Ninja is that the Ninja doesn’t have a paddle, which means that food needs to be shaken to ensure even cooking – no big deal.

First impressions when we received it was that the build quality in comparison to the Actifry is night and day. The Ninja feels so much more solid. The pan and crisper plate are ceramic coated rather than Teflon, which also lends itself to a higher quality feel. The machine itself is much quieter in operation and the temperature controls are also very welcome – something that was very much missing from our Actifry. Also very welcome are the 4 cooking options – air fry, roast, dehydrate and reheat. So far we’ve only used the air fry function but we’ll definitely be trying the others at some point.

Cooking results so far have been excellent – we have cooked frozen chips, baby potatoes and fresh cut chips (yes we like our potatoes). What amazes me is the speed at which this thing cooks. With the Actifry it would take around 40 minutes to cook fresh cut chips, and even then they may need a little longer. With the Ninja we found that fresh cut chips took around 25 minutes – or 30 minutes if we wanted them extra crisp. It is far quieter than the Actifry and clean up is also much easier, as there are less items to clean – only the pan and crisper plate in comparison to the Actifry’s lid, fan filter, pan and paddle.

I’m looking forward to trying different foods in this that wouldn’t have been possible in the Actifry, such as baked potatoes, roasted veg, and for drying out fruit using the dehydrate function.

As you can tell, I am very impressed and given the higher build quality I am expecting to get many years’ use out of it. At first glance it may seem a bit more limited in use than the Actifry due to the lack of paddle, but in actuality this makes it more versatile as you can use it to cook more delicate foods that would otherwise have been broken up by the paddle.

    Highly recommended!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAbsolutely love it and use it almost daily, whether for frying bacon, cooking fish fillets or making a chicken casserole. It cooks steaks and burgers perfectly- succulent, tender and full of flavour. Sceptical at first but quickly became converted to its merits and usefulness. Very straightforward to use although initially there was a bit of trial and error with timing as the accompanying booklet was useless! Would also recommend Paul Brodel’s Hot Air Frying book as this is aimed at the UK market and really helped me broaden my recipe repertoire.

U can cook almost anything in it, everything is so much healthier as not smothered in fat and its as easy to clean as washing a pan. I have deducted one star simply because I find the timings suggested are a bit off and you have to adjust that through trial and error. I suppose with so many variables, this is understandable. In saying that I was sick of buying cheap ones only lasting half a year. I decided I’d give it a try. The product is much sturdier and components are good quality. Fingers crossed it won’t let me down.

Golden Review Award: 124 From Our UsersLet’s face it, you can buy a functioning air fryer for a third of the price, but this is in a different league if you want something you can use for a lot more than chips on a daily basis. It’s very well-built, with a ceramic non-stick lining for the cooking pan, and it’s surprisingly quiet. Though it is big and looks like something from an SUV design workshop, it doesn’t take up much space, and the size means you can make good use of its flexible temperature control and options to essentially replace your main oven for small quantities.
The photo is of butternut squash roasted with a little olive oil for 20 minutes: it’s just not worth heating your main oven for that. Once you realise its potential as a serious cooking tool, you’ll find yourself re-thinking recipes to make the most of it, and if you’re not a fan of the microwave, you can easily use it to re-heat a meal for one.
It doesn’t come with accessories, so you’d be wise to invest in some silicone-tipped tongs for turning and picking up food, and as with all new kitchen equipment, it takes a while to get used to it; if your budget stretches this far, it’s worth buying.

Versatile, well-made machine which justifies its price tag

Wasn’t sure if an air fryer can compete with traditional frying and so took us a while to take the plunge and invest in one. After some research the ninja was on our top list, opting for the larger model to help save time we have not been disappointed!!

Like the instant pot this (not so little) machine may become an essential kitchen item. It gets chips with little or no oil, in fact frozen chips are probably coming out more healthier as you see the amount of oil left behind after they finish cooking. The come out crispy and tasty!

The machine is easy to use and the max crisp function certainly helps get that crunch on items that you would usually rely on a frying pan for. On top of this you know it’s more healthy! Win win!!

Only downside is the size, it’s quite big especially the larger version but if you have space or somewhere to store it’s worth it!

Kind of wish we had one of these earlier now but we are certainly using it enough to make up for lost time!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI bought this as a present for myself after seeing advertisements. Well, I couldn’t be happier with it – I don’t even keep it in a cupboard as it’s used several times a week. What a fantastic machine! To be honest I don’t use the dehydrate feature as often as I’d thought I would, purely because of the long dehydrate time & minimal space, but I was aware of that prior to purchase. It nicely dries a couple of cut up apples in one go, but I’ve lost interest in that function now. The air fry function is a godsend – frozen sausages take less than 20 mins (fresh ones about 12 mins) with no mess, they brown beautifully too. And home-made schnitzel crisped to perfection in 10 minutes with just a spritz of oil, much healthier than traditional frying. And the heat-up function is SO much better than a microwave – for things like leftover pizza, or anything battered or breaded, it brings the food back to life rather than the stale taste you get from a microwave. Very easy to use with clear instructions. Highly recommend.

We bought this as we had moved into a smaller house with poor extraction and were getting cooking smells. Also I wanted to reduce our energy usage compared to the big oven. My wife was sceptical!

I bought the small size as we are just a couple who tend to cook from fresh and do not need a lot of food. General foods are celeriac chips, chicken breast, salmon, butternut squash, etc.

We now use it more than any other device in the kitchen and probably 5 nights a week. Salmon fillet with butternut squash for example will be 15 minutes for the squash followed by the salmon skin for 2 minutes, add the salmon for 4 minutes and then plate the salmon. Add back the butternut squash for 1 minute, plate and it is all ready and hot.

There is no smell of cooking fish and it is no harder to clean than a nonstick pan!

The only downside is that if there is a lot of steam then I have to remember to pull it forward away from the wall to stop condensation on the wall.

If this one breaks then another would be ordered instantly!

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI love this product. After buying a Pressure Cooker I felt I needed something else in my life that made food tastier and healthier. Enter the Ninja.

I’ve cooked various things and I find that where possible bake things first and then air fry to crisp up. Works a treat. The breadcrumb effect is wonderful for so many things and I’m enjoying eating homemade air fried schnitzel, chicken, and fish. The homemade chips are devine and come out perfectly crisp every time. If your short on time throw a jacket potato in the microwave and air fry it for a crisp exterior.

If you’re looking for a new kitchen gadget and want to have the crispy crunch of deep fried food without the deep fried smell and added calories this is the machine for you.

The great thing about a ninja product is that they’re well built and reliable. This isn’t any different and is a solid price of machine. When you open the drawer to shake or check on the food it stops and restarts when the drawer is replaced. Cleaning is super easy and it fits nicely away in my cupboards. I’d recommend to anyone.

The 3.8 litre is perfect for my family of three but I think 4+ would need the next size up.

Ive made beef jerky with it and dehydrated apple and banana pieces which are divine! Super simple to use and twice as fast as our oven and older machine. Wish I had bought the bigger one now!

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI bought this after seeing a YouTube video review. It’s a beast. You can cook frozen chips in it and they come out so crispy, hell you can put just about anything in it and it comes out delicious. It’s not that big though. You can make enough food for two people but definitely no more than that.

Easy to clean as you just lift the metal plate out in the bottom of it and solid build, which the Ninja brand is well known for. Also very simple to use and quick to heat up.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersWe had a Philips air fryer before we upgraded .. I must say it’s one of the best things I have purchased all year. You can cook so many different foods in it.. also when the kids would like chicken nuggets or chips, it takes very little time to hear up and cook. I have cooked the kids a meal in under 10 minutes..
You will not be disappointed with your purchase.. trust me .

Golden Review Award: 86 From Our UsersMy 5 year old Philips Avance XL packed it in and started autonomously changing the temperature and the time when it would get hot. I not sure if the AI inside became sentient, it was hacked or just malfunctioned. I needed a replacement. I had my eye on Ninja Foodi for awhile but since we already have a InstantPot, I decided just to look at Airfryers. This one had good reviews, and it was on Flash Sale for 99 for the first time, so I pulled the trigger.

Some reviews complained about rubbery/plasticy smell, so I ran the Airfryer empty couple of times for 10 minute cycle on MaxCrisp, which is the highest heat. There was a slight initial whiff of plasticy smell, but when I cooked with it there was none.

    Compared to my old Philips:
    – the Ninja Max is quieter.
    – It’s roughly the same size volume wise but the footprint is a tad smaller and it seems to be a bit higher. I’d say this slightly better for a smaller kitchen.
    – so far it hasn’t smoked, unlike the Philips
    – more range with time/temp
    – dehydration option, which is the reason I went and wanted to try this one
    – the cooking area’s bottom shape is round vs more squarish on Philips, and it seems a tad smaller, but it is also a bit higher
    – No grill rack came with the purchase, but the one I got for Philips fit in well. I noticed when using it to cook bacon, the top layer did get crispier quicker, most likely due to better air circulation
    – The pot mechanism is quite different to Philips. Philips has a pan with a metal mesh bottom and lifts up from the deeper pan which can also be removed. This leaves a front plate on a track. This also means there’s more exposure to outside. I regularly had to clean under the Philips, as brown grease would apparently heat up, fly around and then drip down inside the machine and on the countertop between the pan and the inner wall. Ninja has a solid inner floor and the whole pan comes out fully. Inside the pan there’s the grill plate. I believe this design prevents the leakage of grease on to the countertop. It’s nicer to clear the machine inside and out, than notice after a couple of weeks that there a puddle of grease under the fryer.

    So far, so good.

I which Ninja would make a multi layer rack for maximising cooking bacon and for dehydrating.

Golden Review Award: 341 From Our UsersI’m a heavy meat eater (I eat carnivore at the moment) and my daily routine has been radically changed for the better by buying this machine. The ease and practicality of cooking meat in the air fryer is unheard of, it’s so lazy, clean-up is a breeze, and most importantly the meat tastes incredibly good. I’ve tried another air fryer from an unknown brand, and the bottom of the frying pan started to peel off (ugh… teflon is not good in food). But thankfully, this air fryer has a ceramic pan which is dishwasher safe and doesn’t peel! The meat cooks quickly and evenly, even from frozen, which is amazing. I can cook different sorts of meat, without adding fat to the fryer. The meat becomes crisp, browned and is really, really good. If you are a heavy meat eater, you need this, for other foods I haven’t tried it yet. I think I’ve regained hours per week, I never use the oven or my cast iron pan anymore, which saves me on clean up, preparation, cook times and planning & mental space. I don’t have to think ahead, just reheat the fryer for 3 minutes then put some meat in it, 12 minutes later it’s done, voil!

Some reviewers speak of a plastic smell. Indeed, the first 5 or 6 times I used it I could smell a ‘new car smell’ when I was done, but it was not very noticeable. After about a week though it was completely gone.
I’m from Belgium, and use an adapter and no problem there.

I would highly recommend this machine to anyone who wants easier and convenient yet delicious cooking.

This fryer is a game change

Golden Review Award: 51 From Our UsersDecent size for family cooking. Good for chips and sweet potato fries. So easy for sausages and bacon which usually cause a greasy mess. Handy for reheating food such as pizza. So easy to clean, just wipe out the bowl and go. It’s also not too bulky so I just leave it out on the hob

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWith teenage sons, I refused to buy a deep fat fryer, I bought this as an alternative. The best decision, so quick and easy to use, far more efficient and much faster than doing chips etc in the oven. The boys use it for everything, it’s paid for itself already! Have also used to roast baby potatoes, a success. You always worry that things like this will end up in the cupboard, rarely used, not this.

Golden Review Award: 223 From Our UsersI was planning on buying an air fryer for some time and after a lot of research, decided on ninja. It is just fantastic! Easy to use, no preheating necessary, cooks fries from frozen in less than 10 minutes. Large Basket, Digital controls. Lightweight but durable and very easy to clean. I suggest cleaning it straight after each use to keep it in the best condition. Highly recommended. If you’re looking for an air fryer you won’t be disappointed.

Golden Review Award: 92 From Our UsersI have one of the first models of Philips Airfryer and have had it for several years now. After the microwave and kettle it is the appliance I use the most. Yes it’s great for making french fries with barely any oil, but it’s also fantastic for heating and crisping up anything frozen like breadrolls, pies, frozen chicken, hamburges patties, sausages etc. The beauty of the air fryer is that becuase it has a very large element, a small cooking area and a powerful fan, it heats up incredibly quickly. Frozen foods are cooked in half the suggested time. And no waiting for 20 minutes for the oven to warm up. 2-3 minutes and the air fryer is pre-heated. It’s a must for singles who only need to cook small amounts as well as for families where you can do a portion of fries in one go. I defrost frozen rolls in the microwave for 30 seconds and then pop them in the airfryer for 5 minutes and they’re perfect.

My top tip is to make sure you have good ventilation. I use mine placed on top of a breadboard on the cooker with the extractor fan on. The high heat blows out air saturated with oil and smoke which you dont want in the kitchen. So forget the glossy pictures of using it on a counter top. Especially if you are making fries.

So how does this Ninja Air Fryer compare to the Philips?

Well inside the parts look almost identical. The only major differences are:
The Ninja has a digital display and buttons rather than a manual temperature dial and a timer dial.
The Ninja has a wider temperature range and goes up to 210 degrees celsius (max temp for Philips is 200)
The Ninja has an extra setting for dehydrating fruits and vegetables or making jerky.
The most noticeable difference is the frying basket. The ninjas basket is round (which is great as it is much easier to clean than the Philips which is square with ridges) and it has an insert to lift food from the bottom whereas the Philips has a basket that lifts out with a mesh bottom. There are pros and cons to the Ninja design. It’s much easier to clean but the insert has wider slots in it and smaller fries can fall through the holes or get stuck in it.
The other difference is when you open the fryer to check on the cooking progress the Ninja automatically stops and starts again once the basket is put back whereas the Philips just keeps on going.
They both have the same wattage (around 1500 watts)
Ninja has slightly larger capacity 900g fries versus 800g for the original Philips.
The Ninja is competitively priced but the original model Philips is also more affordable now that larger and digital models have come out. At time of writing this review the Ninja was coming out cheapest though.

In terms of performance they are identical. Philips maybe has a very slight edge on getting things crispier due to better airflow because of the mesh basket but that also makes it more difficult to clean.

    Whats in the box:
    The airfryer with UK plug
    Instruction booklet and recipe booklet

All in all, if you don’t have an airfryer yet, get one. This is a great one to start with.
