I miss being able to rock on my old, busted creaky piece of garbage gaming chair and attaching the backrest to the base is a bit of a trick but I’m incredibly satisfied with the product I’ve recieved.
As someone who has minor scoliosis and a shredded posture from my old chair, this chair has been such a huge relief, especially when you play around with the adjustments to suit your back.
I really wanted a Herman Miller, but this is the much cheaper alternative.
I had a Herman Miller chair in work, however due to finishing I found my desk chair at home wasn’t as comfortable. I came across this chair and from my surprise its is extremely comfortable, and I’m able to sit at the desk for long periods at a time. Being able to adjust the seat cushion forwards and back allows for great circulation through your legs. I would 100% recommend this chair.
A very comfortable chair. I like how the seat base angles up as the back is reclined.
I did find that the armrests were too far forward – if you rest your hands in your lap, your elbows will not reach the armrests. This is easily fixed by swapping the armrest pads left to right. They are held on by two allen bolts. This moves the armrests closer to the seat back because they are offset from the mount. Having done that, I have no complaints.
Brilliant comfortable chair. Great for your back. No more back pai
Bought for my son (he chose it) to replace a fairly cheap gaming chair. He loves this one and that makes it worth it as home schooling meant he was sitting at his computer for hours each day. Easy to assemble (we didn’t fit the arm rests though) and solid. Seems good value.
I’ve decided on this chair after lengthy research and a lot of review reading even on multiple sites. I was looking for a chair with an adjustable seat (front to back) and adjustable armrests. The headrest was a bonus, and I was happy to find this chair that offered it. I am 194 cm (6′ 4″) and the hight and rise of the chair was also something I was looking for. Yet, I was specifically looking for a chair that was not too wide. One advantage that was a pleasant surprise was that the way the screw holes and guides are placed and positioned gave me some more flexibility when I was assembling it. Overall very satisfied with my purchase. And it was delivered 2 days before the initial date, which was also a nice touch.
Excellent – very high quality office chair. Perfect addition to the home office.
It’s comfy It’s just very comfy it gives your back the support it needs I’ve been it in all day the comfort hasn’t changed It’s comfy sitting It’s comfy reclined its a all day chair well worth the money
I don’t normally leave reviews but this chair is Amazing!!! very easy to assemble, and extremely comfortable. Thanks
Very comfy and easy to assemble. Looks and feel very professional.
It’s very good, looks nice, easily assembled, comfortable, lumber support good, would recommend.
The chair is epic! One of the most comfortable I’ve ever owned. I’ve had some very expensive ergonomic chairs paid for by work in the high 500-600 and they were no better than the hippo so it’s a bargain for less than200.
I’m a big fella and love my food so can say I’m not inside the weight bracket they have designed this chair for (115kg) but feel very supported and comfortable.
I had a small issue with the seat but after contacting office hippo via Facebook they have promised to send me out a replacement.
Great customer service !!!
It does the job. And overall it is a good office chair.
had the most adjustment for under 250.
Works brilliantly…and looks very space-age….
Quick to assemble and comfortable chair for my home office. It’s adjustable so I could set it up perfectly for working from home
It’s a great chair, really comfy. Leans far back when you need to take the weight off.
This is a remarkably comfortable chair. I personally like that the arms can be quite high up, if you want. That was one of the main points for me, but I love that it tilts back, again if you choose, and you can almost rock in it while you think. Also very much like that the seat pad can move in or out, depending on the size of your derriere! It’s robust, but was really easy to put together with just one person, with very straight-forward instructions. Recommended.
The chair spells luxury from the moment I unwrap, assemble, until I use it.
It looks and feel nice compared to the previous chair that I bought.
Thoughtful Assembly Instruction is provided and they even provided extra bolts for every section.
In short, great quality item.
I recently had some office ergonomics training and realised I needed a new chair. This chair is lovely, it went together easily and in 30mins or less – BUT I’m 5’6″ and it’s only just tall enough for me. It’s worth buying this chair plus a longer gas lift (easily available) for someone taller than me.
I’m 5’11” and weigh 16st and this chair is fine for me. I have the chair at it’s maximum height, so Im not sure if this chair would be ok for anyone over 6′.
I chose this chair because of the seat-slide. I have this feature in my office and wanted the same support at home. The seat provides support right to the back of the knee.
One thing that bothered me was that the arm rests hit my desk meaning I either had to raise them above the desk height to get the chair closer or lower the seat level and the arm rests to get them to fit under. I’ve now fixed this by swapping the arm rests round as they are interchangable.
The seat is firm but comfortable for long periods. (I’m using it to work from home, so I’m never sat in it for more than a couple of hours before getting up – I dont know what it would be like for a straight 4-6 hours…)
As others have pointed out, the head rest is a bit pointless unless you happen to be fully reclined. The tension spring is fine for my weight – providing back and lumbar support but allowing to you push back and recline when required.
It was always going to be a bit of a risk choosing a chair without testing it – but this has worked out well for me.
Really liking my chair, but the headrest does feel too far back, like you’ve to actively push your head back in order to make contact with it. I’m not the tallest, but the chair doesn’t seem designed for anyone over my height (5ft 6), so recommend that you check your measurements prior to purchase, as the headrest is also not height adjustable, only angle adjustable.
For 180 this is a good chair. It provides plenty of customisation options, and has served me well during lockdown. I would recommend it to anyone but there are three niggles from me.
First niggle is that the headrest is only of use when reclined, it doesn’t get anywhere near your neck when upright, and there is no option to extend it forward. So if you’re looking for headrest support when upright this is NOT the chair for you.
Second niggle is the padding used in the seat. To start with the it felt nice and plump, but after several months it’s a bit flat so I’m probably going to have to buy an extra pad for my butt.
Third niggle, not the best instructions, and the labelled bolts, screws, etc. were marked with different reference names than in the instructions which led to quite a bit of confusion.
Other than those three things it’s a decent chair for the money, as very good office chairs can easily cost double/triple this. It feels good but it is not premium.
Great chair for wfh purposes. Relatively straightforward to set up on your own. Pretty comfortable as well. Can’t complain – 5 star!
Bought for my home office for lockdown as my previous, much cheaper, chair’s height adjustment mechanism had broken. I already knew it was a good chair as it’s the same model we use at work.
Fully adjustable in terms of height, tilt of back (which can either be locked in place or left free to allow for leaning back), lumbar support and seat position.
It came with all necessary bolts (plus spares) and hex key for assembly. Assembly took approximately 45 minutes as a one person job and would probably take less time with an additional person to hold parts in position while screwing the bolts in. The only problem I had with assembly is that the hex driver provided is the “corkscrew” type. That’s fine for most of the bolts but can’t be used to screw in the bolts to attach the right hand arm rest to the seat as the adjustment levers block it. An L-shaped hex key is required there. I had one so it wasn’t an issue for me but is something to be aware of.
Suffering lower back trauma in my early 20’s ensured that I will continue to have exsisting back problems my entire life. My personal chair at my work place is specifically setup to ensure I dont have any pain and therefore specialist equipment was procured for me.
However, during lockdown I could not get access to my chair and the prolonged working from home has meant that I needed to purchase a chair that would support my lower back pain.
I opted for this chair because it ticked all the boxes and met my employers requirements, but the lower back support is a godsend.
Before I purchased this chair I was suffering with my lower back even though I had an expensive ergonomic chair.
The chair arrived very quickly and I put the chair together really easily. The instructions are clear and the correct fitting alan key was provided. No missing parts or screw to boot either.
The chair has so many adjustable parts to ensure genuine comfort. This includes height, tilt, arms, headrest and it even has an adjustment for the main seat cusion to move backwards and forwards. It really ticks all the boxes, and the blue, white colours looks really nice too.
Very definately recommended.
For the price of this product versus other ergonomic chairs, it is very good.
It is not very customisable, but the fact that it is customisable at all at less than 200 is very good
Materials are all very comfortable and product feels sturdy
Was very easy to assemble fully in 15 mins
It’s a chair but a good comfortable all day chair – no regrets on this one!
Good for the money. Good lambar support and comfortable. Looks really good as well.
First time I’ve ever written a review on Amazon, but Office Hippo is a small business and they deserve the credit for this item.
I work from home full time at the moment.
I needed a new chair, something comfortable as I get back pain/strain very easily.
I didn’t want to spend 400+ on a item, some good chairs are 1000+
I read the reviews on here FIRST before buying, once I saw the review from the person who works as an occupational therapist saying this chair was good value, I immediately clicked the buy button.
For 200, you are getting a VERY Sturdy and well built chair, the headrest is useless you are lying back in the chair as all the other reviews have confirmed.
But the seat is great, it even has an adjustable seat slide mechanism so you can adjust the seat cushion horizontally.
Feels great on my back so far, early days, but I am shocked at how good this chair actually is. I actually could have taken one of the more expensive chairs home from my office, but i prefer THIS CHAIR to those chairs.
(Disclaimer – I am short – 5″6, don’t know if that makes a huge difference).
Read the reviews and do your research, but do consider getting this chair, you are getting alot for the price point.
Oh yeah – assembly was simple, 30 mins or so.
I did a lot of reasearch before purchasing this chair and this chair offers lots of flexibility when it comes to ajustability at a reasonable price. Legs are sturdy, wheels look good quality. Lots of componets are plastic, however the chair does not look cheap and it feels solid. Overall I am very satisfied. However, I do have to mention that the head rest is too far for you to rest your head while seating straight, but if that is not a deal braker for you I do recomend the chair.
Received the item today (earlier than Amazon promised, which is always nice to see…). The product is really good quality built. Instructions are clear, assembly components (screws, allen key) of good quality and supplied with spares in case screws go missing.
Have been using it for the entire day and I can say the posture and comfort are very good. Height adjustment is good too.
Recommend this item.
Only arrived today (5 days EARLY) so have used it for maybe 4 hours. OMG it is so comfortable, great support for my back and padding in the seat is very good. Read the review from the FM guy, it is pretty accurate. Great value chair.
Came promptly and well packaged, extra screws supplied, and a minimalistic manual for assembly, took 10 minutes to put together, piece of advice, screw arm rests in before the base mechanism onto the seat, makes installing much easier as the levers will get in the way of you screwing in the right arm rest.
As a “degenerate” pc gamer I spend alot of time in front of my pc, and though spending quite a decent amount of money on my rig, I have always skimped on seating, using dining room chairs, smaller desk chairs, and even a plastic garden chair. Have to say spending this much on a proper office desk chair has really made a difference to my back, seating posture, and has given my buns a much needed cushioning.
Seat slides back and forth nicely, the tilt is nice, requires a lean on it before it will release stopping it from snapping back. The headrest only really played a part when I decide to sit back and watch a movie. The base is sturdy enough even with my 95kg load laying on it in full recline.
true the arm rests don’t move with the tilting back, but I prefer to rest my arms out as I lay back.
TL:DR
It’s a good buy, solid, comfortable, and enough to accomodate my 95kg 5ft 10 frame easily.
If you want more features, you’re probably going to be paying another 100
Great features on this chair for the price would deffo recommend
Could do with being able to go a bit higher on gas and the head rest, but if you’re under 5’11, I’m sure it’s perfect.
Ordered this chair to work from home during the pandemic. Was apprehensive at first given I’ve got degenerate disc disorder but couldn’t really afford to spend silly money on a top end chair so took a chance based on the product description and reviews.
I’m a facilities manager so know a thing or two about chairs so will give an honest review.
The chair I use at work is an RH logic 400 which is one of the leading ergo chairs on the market and will be my benchmark.
Having used the office hippo for a week now i can honestly say it has very good ergonomic properties and functiobality to ensure a good posture. The seat pan is very comfortable and doesn’t cause any pressure points or numbness during long periods of sitting.
The mesh back is also very comfortable and breathable.
If this wasnt good ergonomically I would know about it!!
If I had to pick the bones out of this chair I’d say the arm rests only adjust in height and the headrest like most chairs only really works and supports your neck when you lay back in the chair. Which I tend to do with the back recline when taking little breaks from working.
All in all would recommend at the price as a very good product.
The chair needed some simple assembly – spare screws can cause a little, confusion, but on the other hand you get spare screws. After about a month of use i am really happy with it.
Love it. Easy to assemble. And comfy to sit in for a full work day.
I was a little dubious about buying a chair without being able to try it out first, but I needn’t have worried.
The Office Hippo 2020 is an excellent chair.
With tilt, swivel and the most important feature, seat slide, this is an incredible chair for the price.
My old chair finally gave up the ghost, my back demanded a new one. The Office Hippo 2020 has proven to be a perfect solution. It’s a firm chair which offers a fantastic amount of lumbar support (easily adjusted to fit all heights). The seat cushion is firm, but in combo with the seat slide, keeps posture just right.
After a few days use, my aches and pains have subsided. Sure there are more expensive chairs on offer, but few with the seat slide feature, which makes all the difference to seat comfort.
Highly recommended. I love my new Office Hippo 2020.
Bought for home office use as I was beginning to suffer from ailments aligned to poor posture. This chair has sorted all that out. I felt the difference immediately and I am amazed at the quality considering the price.
Easy set up and robust enough for daily use.
eplace my office chair with this. Brilliant has cut out the back pain i suffered completely
I bought this chair for my home office. Firstly, this is an excellent chair with (considering the firmness isn’t adjustable) great lumbar support.
The good points first:
* It’s straightforward to assemble, and I particularly like that you receive one extra screw of each type. The casters are a bit hard to push in by hand, but sitting on the chair after assembly seems to mostly sort them out.
* Excellent lumbar support
* Nice and comfy, with generally good support
* Proper metal base
* The styling is really nice, not as extreme as it looks in the pictures
One slight negative:
* The headrest doesn’t adjust forward and backward, and it’s quite recessed. This means that it’s only really useful if relining, rather than providing neck support in the upright position
Overall, a very good chair, especially for the price.
Great chair, really comfortable. Has helped my back almost immediately. I structions could be a little clearer, but can be done reasonably easily if you take your time.
Coming up to a year using this chair. The review that says it’s a “super squeaky chair” I very much disagree, there is a slight squeak but it is much quieter than the average office chair (some WD40 would sort it anyway if you were that bothered).
The chair is solid and well built. The arms are a good height and comfortable. The cushion is nice, comfy and very thick. The base cushion is nice and wide so I can move about and the back has a slight hug to it, providing support while still being breathable and non-restrictive. Great for holding posture on long hot days and I like how I can move the lower back support.
For normal use the head rest is too low for me (6ft), but I have it set to provide support when I’m leaning right back and relaxing watching tv on my monitor (termed a ‘good slouch’). You may find this a bad point but I’ve found my use for it and am very happy.
I’d recommend the chair at the price I paid (220), so now seeing this at 150 it’s a steal, 100% recommended
Extremely good support, look stunning and fantastic after sales support if you need it. Highly recommended.
Love it! Completely different from any other office chair I have had.
We ordered a replacement for the first chair since it could not be assembled because of a defect (see pictures). The second chair is fine. The seat and the back are very comfortable although it would be nice to have more locking positions for the tilt adjustment. The seat can slide and it works well. Wheels are silent in a laminated flooring and do not seem to damage the floor so far. Arms can be adjusted and locked up and down only. The headset is probably the worse aspect of the chair. It can be adjusted up and down as well as rotated but the position of the head is never relaxed, like the position of the head when seated in a plane. When seated naturally you will never use it unless you force your head back. For example, the head support of the Markus chair from IKEA (which is not adjustable) is much more comfortable and the head just lays naturally.
