Normally I am a skeptic but thing this won me over almost instantly. What an amazingly well designed tool. I burned a couple of the first pizzas getting used to the cooking speed (I rather expected it) and nuances but by the 4th pizza perfection was at hand.
Bravo! My only regret is that I waited this long to buy one.

I’m writing this to encourage anyone who also has trouble, or who reads these very varied reviews, and doesn’t know what to think. As I said, we had trouble getting this to work. But once it did, the pizza was savory, rich, truly amazing. Every taste in it seemed amplified — cheese, sauce, pepperoni, mushrooms. A stellar experience.
We argue about pizza in our family, with our 11 year-old son liking mass market brands, while my wife and I like indie pizza places. But we all agreed that this was the best pizza we’d ever had.
And yes, the trouble we had. Too much smoke. The fire went out. Couldn’t pour in more wood pellets, as the instructions told us to, because the old ones blocked the hopper. When finally we got it going again, it took forever to make the first pizza.
But then it kicked in, full blast. No smoke. Steady red glow inside the oven, as seen through the back. Now we could make pizzas almost on an assembly line. Maybe not just one minute each, but still pretty quick.
We might not have followed all the instructions, our bad. But once the pellets all burned, it was easy to pour in more. So follow the instructions, be patient, and trust that everything will work.
We still have things to learn. How long to keep the pizza in, and how often to turn it, so it bakes evenly. But these feel like fine points. Our first night using it, and the pizza was spectacular.
We wondered if this would only be a toy, a novelty we’d get tired of. But it seems like a keeper. Something we’ll use a lot.
I have one of these and make Neapolitan pizzas every week.
It takes a fair bit of practice to get great results.
The oven (and the stone) have to get to a high temperature before cooking. So you need to light in advance and monitor temperature. Laser thermometers can take the temp of the stone at the back of the oven.
The back of the oven is hotter than the front, so to cook evenly, rotate the pizza every 20-30 seconds.
Cheap fuel does not reach 450C
The inside of the oven is hot enough to melt lead. So take care. If the pizza does not launch cleanly into the oven it will be ruined (instantly). Use enough semolina for a clean launch. Pizza should slide around on the peel.
Cooking in the rain or snow is not as much fun as it sounds.
I’ve now made a large number of pizzas in our ooni and it is great fun and can produce lovely pizza with some care and precision.
1. Buy a temperature laser, you want around 450 degsF on the centre of the stone.
2. Buy a suitable large peel, and lightly cover with flour and a sprinkle of polenta before putting each pizza dough base on.
3. Light kindle with a half shovel of pellets, then add 3 more half shovels gradually. You should reach temp in 10 mins. Check with laser. Add half shovel more pellets if not 450degsF.
4. Load pizza off peel. Close door. Time 20 secs, then open door and turn pizza third turn. Repeat. After 3 turns check pizza and it’s bottom. Maybe turn once more, max 2. Ie. 1 min 30 secs should cook the pizza.
5. Add another half a scoop of pellets
6. After 1 minute check stone temperature has again reached 450degsF.
7. Repeat cooking process.
I bought this based on reputation. The quality of the parts seems good. It works fine, but the claim that it cooks a pizza in 30 seconds is just not true. The issue is getting the stone hot enough. It tends to burn the top and leave the base too doughy. I don’t think it’s user error – very thin dough base and tried different recipes and techniques. The base still has a tendency to be undercooked when top is overcooked
The only issue is heat up time, ash build up and reheat time.
This can all be easily fixed by buying a USB fan for the Freya, every problem is solved BUT you must turn the fan away or off when pizza is inside, else it will be cremated.
Its a well documented improvement and you never look back after buy one.
I power via a phone battery pack personally.
The recipient loved it and makes such great pizzas in no time at all. Was unsure whether to buy the gas or wood fire version however using the wood fire pellets was very straight forward and didn’t need the hassle of setting up the gas. Pizzas cooked fine and easy to work.
Had success from the start by watching YouTube videos, needs constantly watching or the pellets will jam up & lose temp.
Get someone to make the pizzas up while you keep an eye on the oven.

This worked as advertised, we have been happily using it and our home is overflowing with pizza!! We’re still perfecting our pizza rotation skills but very happy with our purchase. Had no problems setting it up. LOVE that there is a place for the door to hang when you’re checking on or removing a pizza from the oven. Definitely don’t have the back face any wooden structures. Will be looking into a caring case soon as the box works fine for transport but a case may be better. Instructions were clear and not over complicated. This is a great alternative or stepping stone to a larger more permanent pizza oven. Go get one.

Wow… With no one wanting a Turkey Dinner this Christmas and my Children fussy eaters at the best of times the decision to purchase an OONI was pure genius. Simple to assemble, simple to use, Ready to cook in just 15 minutes! What more can I say….. Everyone agreed the pizza tasted better than Dominoes and fun to make.
This little oven will save me hundreds of pounds a year.

When cooking pizza with a cast iron, I usually slowly bring it up to temperature over 10 minutes, then cook the bottom of the pizza before putting it in the grill to cook the top. So it’s quite a long process. This takes 15 minutes or so to heat up and then cooks the pizza in less than a couple of minutes. Clean up is also super easy as there’s very little mess created by the wood pellets. Also, the flavour is definitely better in the Ooni!
It took me a while to understand how to make a good pizza. Ooni videos are very useful to get you started but practice is essential. After two months I make a delicious pizza and have fun at the same time. If you like pizza it is a must have as long as you have an outside space

Dann qualmt es nur noch – aber leider ohne die ntigen Flammen. Dh: alles ausleeren und neu anheizen. Vielleicht liegt es an den Pellets. Wenn das Ding brennt: unschlagbar geile Pizza!! Ein Adapter fr Gasbetrieb wre toll!
Nach anfnglichen Schwierigkeiten (die Temperatur des Ofens war noch nicht erreicht, es empfiehlt sich ein Laserthermometer) hat es beim zweiten Mal super geklappt. Die Beschreibung ist leider nur in Englisch.

It takes a few tries to control the temperature but we got the touch after second pizza. It cooks so fast and truly makes a great pizza crust. Crispy and perfectly browned. So happy with it.

Trs content du four. Il chauffe vite (15 min) , cuit vite (2 min), et les saveurs rappellent vraiment celle de la pizzeria. Les invits sceptiques sont tous convaincus avec observation et dgustation. Trs convivial dans le cadre d’1 apero dnatoire ds le jardin entre amis. Seule contrainte : tourner d’1/4 la pizza toutes 20-30 sec afin qu’elle ne crame pas, mais on prend vite le pli. Rajouter trs rgulirement des pellets afin de garder la flamme et une temprature constante suprieure 400 degr.

Der pizza ofen ist jedes geld wehrt kurz eingebrannt und danach ging es los pizza dauerte nur ca 55 sekunden wenn mann die richtige Temperatur hat und nicht vergessen den kamin auf zu mache

Utilis pour tartes flambes et pizzas.
Ncessite un peu de prise en main pour le feu et la maniement des tartes et pizzas (les tourner mi-cuisson).
Mais si on les russit, c’est excellent !
Nach langen Recherchen habe ich mich fr diesem Pizzaofen entschieden.Der Aufbau ging sehr zgig und einfach. Der Ofen war innerhalb von 15 Minuten bei 400 Grad einsatzbereit.Das Handling war sehr einfach und die ersten Pizzen sehr schnell gebacken.Top Grill!Top Investition! Sehr empfehlenswert! Werden in Zukunft am Pizzasamstag nur noch die Pizza selbst backen!

Il me semble qu’un petit chalumeau (comme pour les crmes brules) serait recommander pour enflammer les “pellets” car pas facile faire avec un peu de paille comme indiqu sur le dessin.
Pizzas pas faciles transfrer l’aide de la pelle sur la plaque chaude l’intrieur du four, nous avons donc eu une pizza qui avait bon got mais pas prsentable quant sa forme.
Consomme tout de mme pas mal de “pellets” chaque pizza nous avons d en rajouter .
Made up with this purchase. Really does cook a geat pizza and incredibly in only one minute. I won’t be rushing out for a takeaway Pizza any time soon with this at my dispoal. Can’t beat flavour, taste and arouma of a freshly made woodfired pizza and thr wood pellets lived up up to that job. Roll on post Covid garden parties, this will go down wobderfully. Get some decent wood pellets and make yourself a good batch of dough and you will have great pizza! Pizzas cook in no time, great for pizza party!
Heat up time is rapid and your speedy pizzas will taste better than the corporate owned pizza places.

Je suis dbutant mais les pizza taient parfaites. Attention a les tourner assez vite pour viter de brler un ct.

Perfekte Ofen fr einen gemeinsamen Pizzaabend. Pizza wird perfekt. Der Ofen wird sehr schnell hei. Pizza ist in drei Minuten fertig.
Trs bon produit , je le conseil aux amateurs de bonne pizza .
La seule qui ne faut pas oublier de prendre c’est le thermomtre
Sinon four parfait mais nanmoins ncessite une grande organisation pour raliser beaucoup de pizza
Utilis pour tartes flambes et pizzas.
Ncessite un peu de prise en main pour le feu et la maniement des tartes et pizzas (les tourner mi-cuisson).
Mais si on les russit, c’est excellent !

Also,to help your cooking experience you are going to need a few extras (peel/turner/laser thermometer) all of which are sold by Ooni at vastly inflated cost. Use your common sense and source these elsewhere and make a significant saving.
Must add that after one use, cooking 4 pizzas, the soot build up inside the oven/chimney is insane!

Decent bit of kit. Gonna take a few more attempts to achieve pizza perfection I reckon. The oven is ridiculously hot and cremated the first attempt in less than a minute! Charcoal frisbee anyone?!

Il me semble qu’un petit chalumeau (comme pour les crmes brules) serait recommander pour enflammer les “pellets” car pas facile faire avec un peu de paille comme indiqu sur le dessin.
Pizzas pas faciles transfrer l’aide de la pelle sur la plaque chaude l’intrieur du four, nous avons donc eu une pizza qui avait bon got mais pas prsentable quant sa forme.
Consomme tout de mme pas mal de “pellets” chaque pizza nous avons d en rajouter .
