Really impressed with this saw. Used to chop up a couple of apple trees (up to 30cm) that had been left in the garden. No messing with two stroke. Wish I had purchased the bigger battery but the 2.6ah will do for occasional use.
I bought the Oregon Cs300 plus 4Ah battery and fast charger to fell and cut up two dead apple trees. The trees were about 15-20 feet (5-6 meters) high, with one having a trunk thickness of 14-16 inches (35-40cm) and the other 12-14 inches (30-33cm). The larger tree was hollow for about 2/3rds of the trunk, while the smaller tree (see picture) was solid and noticeably hardwood. In short, the Cs300 coped well with the work. It cut through the larger deader tree with no problem, managing 90% of the job with one charge of the 4Ah battery. On the smaller, harder tree it struggled a little. I required two full charges of the battery to get through the whole tree, and even then I only cut the trunk into three large sections of c3-4 feet each. Most of the use on this tree was slicing up the smaller boughs (3-9 inches thickness) and for that it worked well. The ability to sharpen the chain without removing it from the saw is great. The saw itself is easy to handle and inspires confidence for a novice like me. In retrospect I’d have preferred to buy the 6Ah battery, but its difficult to get hold of, or alternatively to buy two of the 4Ah batteries to use one while charging the other. Note: I bought the Oregon chainsaw trousers, gloves and boots as well and would recommend them all.
Cut like a hot knife through butter! My hubby loves it.
Only downside was assembling it because there were very small parts in easy to lose packaging but once we had it assembled it works a treat. Cuts through thick logs easily. Have already recommended to a friend who didn’t believe a cordless would be powerful enough. When he saw it working he went off to buy one for himself!
There’s nothing to dislike about this saw . Comes with everything and being used to petrol chainsaws its cuts alot bigger stuff then expected. Will say look for a 2nd battery at lot places as can be found around 105. 00 brand new , and oregon original. Great produc
First-ever chainsaw, much researched and definitely the right choice. Far quieter than petrol-driven (which doesn’t mean less dangerous …); cuts trunks up to a foot in diameter with ease; battery lasts far longer than feared. User needs all the extra protective kit, though – one slip and user could easily be hurt.
I’ve had this a few weeks now and have already used it to cut up two large trees into logs. Both hard wood. Including trunks around 40cm wide. There is no lack of power. It is comparable to stihl petrol chainsaws I’ve used in the past although the plastics do feel a bit cheaper. It’s much quieter however no ear defenders needed. Perfect to keep in the boot for collecting firewood. Self sharpening works well.

Although quite expensive compared to the 230 volt version it has the advantage of being free of any cable. The battery usage life is good (4Ah version) its easy to use but as with any chainsaw it requires operator training as it can be very dangerous. I have used my saw very frequently and am delighted with it it being more than capable cutting large logs as well as small logs run time is good as is recharge time. So I can well recommend this, WITH PROPER TRAINING AND PPE, to any competent person.
a very good saw well made and very easy to use awsome
My first cordless electric after many years of petrol and mains electric chainsawing (glad to have THAT experience behind me!). You have to get used to slightly less grunt than a comparable-weight petrol chainsaw, and a delay of half a second when you press the trigger. Also there is a safety cut-out if the blade snags for any reason, including expecting it to do more than it has the power left for – probably no bad thing. It’s still quite heavy and makes more noise than mains electric, but it’s much quieter than a petrol saw. But the main difference in operation is the blissful silence as soon as you take your finger off the trigger, and the lack of fumes and vibration. You don’t have to carry petrol around either.
It’s not for serious forestry or tree-surgery but for my purposes – felling small trees up to ~8″ and logging up branches and trunks to about 12″, but mostly much smaller, it works great, so I don’t think I will ever go back to petrol. The 4 Ah battery lasts me about 30-40 minutes which is when I need to stop cutting anyway and do some splitting and carrying, and recharges fairly quickly – but I would NOT go for a smaller capacity unless you have a spare to keep on charge. If you have a whole day’s work to do some distance from mains power, then cordless won’t be a good solution of course, but for my purposes it’s perfect.
All this said, the USP of the Oregon, which none of its similarly priced or more expensive rivals have, is the self-sharpening system. This involves a totally new chain design which I was very sceptical about; it cuts with the top of the cutter like a chisel, rather than scooping out the timber with a C-shaped gouge like a traditional chainsaw. That means its possible to use the motor to run the cutters against a sharpening stone on a suitable jig, instead of filing each cutter and height bar separately. The system is so effective that Oregon sell it as a 50+ accessory for other saws, but here it is already built in to the saw. You just squeeze a lever for while the engine is running and what used to be a tedious 20-minute job is done in less than 5 seconds, and more accurately than I can do my hand! I have not found that the blade needs sharpening any more often than a conventional one, it cuts just as well and can be resharpened more times before requiring replacement. I will reserve final judgment till I know just how long it lasts and how much the replacement chain plus stone costs, but so far (after one year’s use) the indications are very positive.
This saw is twice the price of a comparable petrol saw, but much cheaper to run and more pleasant to use. The self-sharpening system clinches it for me and makes it worth the money.
I found this reasonably easy to put together, and – in the twice I’ve used it so far – it’s done the job; easy to manoeuvre and cuts well. I haven’t got anything to compare it with though.
Safety features seem to work.
Battery seems to last OK for my use but difficult to rate
Great chainsaw. It’s very quiet which is handy to keep the neighbours happy. I’ve cut some serious wood using this from ash to oak. It can handle large logs however it eats the battery in which it run down quick. The self sharpening tool is brilliant and has already saved having to buy chain replacements. Overall I’m very pleased with this. Easy to use and set up.
This is a good chainsaw, well built and cuts well, it’s great for cutting branches and small trunks, and that’s why you buy a saw like this, trunks over a foot in diameter especially hard woods it will cut but will struggle with and the battery overheats and the saw cuts out. But as I say if your regularly sawing tree trunks invest in a petrol saw. So all in all a really good saw battery life is acceptable it will always be the weak link in the chain. The inbuilt saw sharpener I used it a few times it in my opinion destroys the chain and wears down very quickly so I have abandoned it and sharpen using a saw file. One other thing I read some reviews saying that the battery saw is so much safer than the petrol one, it isn’t it’s just as dangerous and will take a chunk out of you or worse, so please don’t get complacent with it, it’s a dangerous tool if used without care.
Edit : Le service client d’Oregon me l’a remplac, donc parfait merci eux, en esperant que celle ci me dure quelques annes.
This will log quite thick trunks and is very efficient and easy to use. It is surprisingly powerful and does everything necessary regarding firewood for the home.
I was amazed at the power of this battery chainsaw. It is lightweight, powerful and the self sharpen is amazing
It’s a great saw for a beginner. I’m short and this is a lightweight easy to use non threatening saw. The low noise and instant stop is great, it makes you feel safer, but dont be fooled, it’s a chainsaw, get tuition and safety gear. The saw is good for small logs and cuts as much as I need in a day but the battery doesn’t last that long. More than I need but it’s not for heavy felling jobs I would say.
My experience with chain saws isn’t good. Several years ago, I came close to killing myself with one. We live next to woodland which isn’t managed and the owner said we could cut back some of the trees that were starting to encroach over our fence line. With some reluctance, my wife allowed me to buy one of these. It’s so easy to use, the self-sharpening works well, it’s light, with a decent battery life (I reckon I can take down three reasonable sized trees and cut them into logs before having to recharge). We sat on the patio yesterday in the sun and commented on how much extra light we’re getting and how spacious it all now feels so, it’s been a great investme
So much easier to use than my petrol chainsaw and it cuts far more effectively. The chain tensioner and sharpener are brilliant. I would recommend it to anyone. Oh and a great price!!!
I’ve never had a chainsaw before. I bought it to cut up logs for our new wood burner.
It was easy to assemble; the YouTube video and instruction book complimented each other. On a full charge it whipped through 8 – 10 inch ash logs that were a couple of years old. It’s light and easy to manoeuvre, does a nice clean cut, and seems to keep going with pretty much the same power until the battery suddenly runs out. The chain is easy to tension, and the sharpener seems to work. I think you have to take the chain and bar off after each use to clean it properly- as a tyro I didn’t realise how sawdust gets everywhere. But the cover is very easy to remove and put back.
My only gripe is that the 4Ah battery doesn’t last as long as I expected from the YouTube reviews I saw – hence 4 stars not 5. But for cutting up enough logs to keep the wood burner going for a few days it’s fine. To do much more than an hour of work I will need an additional 6Ah battery.
Definitely recommend.
A truly excellent saw.
Instructions were really annoying and unclear, YouTube has a very good video tutorial.
Saw got through 12″ willow trunk and cut up half the tree (about 100 logs) in a hard hours of work. Chain high quality and battery quickly recharged. Early days but excellent so far!
Very easy to use. Very effective. No hassle starting. Worth lifting for a few minutes work.
Cuts through wood like a hot knife through butter. Does sometimes cut out for a second on thicker wood, but try again and it’s fine.
Easy to use and ideal for small logs and thicker branches to fit my log burne
Really nice tool. Enough grunt to cut through reasonable size branches. Brilliant after sales support from Oregon. My saw was missing a manual, but Amazon put me through to Oregon who were faultless and polite and sent one through (as well as answering my specific question to get me started)
Fantastic chainsaw, tad expensive we you have to purchase a battery and charger separately which cost more than the chainsaw but my husband conceded today that it is amazing ,
Made short work of the logs we had which the last chainsaw failed miserably. Felt much safer than a petrol one as well.
This is a nice little machine that’s powerful enough for most of the work I do around our fields. Makes light work of saplings up to 4 inches diameter and no doubt could cut down a reasonable size tree with it. Bought a high speed charger and 4.0Ah battery elsewhere. Battery charges in an hour and good for about 45 minutes. Quite heavy but big advantage of plugging in battery and your ready to go.
I have used chainsaws before, but this Oregon provides extras that you will really appreciate them, as easy Tension chain and self-sharpening chain system. I got the 2.6mA Battery, which gives me 25 minutes of power. After using for a month, I am so pleased with my purchase. Clean (the battery technology is incredible), easy to use, no hassles, enough power for medium logs. Bye-Bye petrol !!!!
This is very impressive bit of kit. Was a bit dubious about it to begin with but thought I would take a chance. This wee thing slices through quite heavy tree trunks like a knife through butter. Light and easy to use . Simple to assemble.
.
What can I say, this is a heavy chainsaw, but I have only had corded chainsaws in the past.
Watching the video should have made putting it together really easy .. I said should as I managed to put the disk thing on the wrong part of the saw, then put the saw blade upside down .. then I put the chain on the wrong way around. I don’t think I have had so many laughs assembling anything .. ever. Once I did get it all together in the right order, I found it quite heavy to hold, then adding the battery I am thinking I need to take up weight training, but then found a saw horse that you can attach the chain saw on to, as I have just sliced through my wooden saw bench with the new chain saw, I have put the order in now, and will get back to report on how well the chainsaw copes being confined to a saw bench. Update :: My chain saw is fantastic to use with the saw bench . I went for the heavy bench and it has no problem with the extra weight of the chain saw .. happy days
I needed a chainsaw for home use,I have had a couple of electric cheapish ones and found the chain kept coming off .so I wanted a decent battery saw that a professional would use after a lot of research I was down to two on the list the ego and oregon.i opted for the Oregon as it has a self sharpener.and the ego has the Oregon bar and chain anyway
We let me say it’s a safe easy to use saw handles trees and logs ,and timber planks pallets with ease almost butter like and so quiet
My only disappointment was my fault I bought the smallest battery ,in hindsight I should have bought the 6ah or 4ah
I am now thinking of getting the lawnmower and strimer with bigger battery’s
Perfect chainsaw with cleaver shapening system I recommend to buy 4 or 6 Ah battery
If you want quality product this is item for you. It has enough power to cat 10″ trees without any problem. Your are limited only by battery standard will last approximately 25 minutes running time.
Incredible. Just incredible! If anybody says any different they either don’t know how to use it or they’re just stupid!
Works well and no messing about with petroleum
Self sharpening
Great chainsaw. Much better than petrol for smaller diameter trees /logs .Easy to start /use.Good value. No messing about with petrol.Lightweight for a woman in her mid sixties!!
Absolutely brilliant. The chain that comes with is good, but doesn’t last very long. I bought normal size chain, which will last much longer. I bought 2 in1 steel sharpener ( get the right one for your machine). See YouTube.
Excellent piece of kit, well packaged easy to assemble good safety features.
I went for the 6 amp battery option, loads of power for a battery operated tool.
The self sharpening lever works a treat and is a time saver.
Well balanced to handle and easy chain tension adjustment.
i like this chainsaw.instant to start and cut.but with no messy 2 stroke-up ..However the only negative thing is the Lithium battery needs charging after a modest trimming…But does charge after a hour..the 4Ah.is preferred but expensive.
Love my chainsaw! Light and easy to use, loads quieter and no faffing around with petrol/oil /two stroke or whatever it is. Percect for the 8″ or so diameter logs I’m filling my woodstore with.
Reliable, cuts well, charges quickly. Suitable for log-chopping and small tree work.
Upgraded to this from the 240 version, which had done me proud during the last 3 years.
It is definitely, noticeably more powerful and handles a batch of 7-8 inch[20cm] logs on a log horse with ease, so all the hype about increased power is actually true in this case; I’ve been using it for a couple of months now so that I could give it a decent trial.
Also upgraded to the 400 battery and yes, it too gives a lot more cutting time per charge, so having the 240 also, gives me plenty of work time.
So, for anyone working with smallish timber and needing a lightweight reliable saw with decent poke I’d say give this a go as it really does seem to live up to its spec.
