I love them! The value for money with the starter pack was fantastic! I love how they integrate with my other non hue smart devices
I could not have fitted this without technical assistance from someone who already had one
If you want to use this with Alexa using the hue Bridge then forget it ,it doesn’t connect the two accounts to unable the skill . Considering I purchased this to use it in that way ,it was a complete waste of money . Very disappointed
Works pretty well had a problem with connection kept dropping so I moved the bridge more central to the house and it’s working well now so I’m happy with them so much I am going to get more lights
It was a bit tricky to install because the bulbs were put in separate rooms. So each person had to download the Philips Hue app. Then register the bulbs to the appropriate room. It is then best to rename the bedrooms on the app because all bulbs show up on I eg mom’s room, Bob’s room. Then you know which light to control. I didn’t need the button but I used it after getting fed up of switching on my phone to control the light lol. I bought the package from Amazon warehouse because it was cheaper, it had no instructions but they are available online at the website
If you are looking for something that will last you years (and these will last you years!) then these are for you. With the Alexa Integration, it’s a fun party trick to show people and let them play with themselves. The auto-on and off features are used a lot when away and the lights are very bright and customisable. They are so good I have 6 in total around the house all paired with Apple Home and Alexa and it makes my life so much easier.
When the times comes, I’ll be 100% purchasing another set.
I’d used them before in our home and convinced my daughter that this was the way forward when she gave her home a makeover.
Although she wasn’t convinced at first, she agreed that it was worth the expense when she saw the final installation.
All the kit is good quality. It installed seamlessly, then I came to add it to Alexa. My partner is the main account holder and pays for Amazon Prime – I’m the ‘other ‘ person. Added these bulbs to my account, then to his. Named each bulb. However, the Hue box, added the bulbs again to the Alexa account, so I had two with the same name, which Alexa can’t deal with. Deleted the duplicates, but the system added them again. Deactivated the duplicates – which seemed to help. The system though is not great. Hue does not talk to Alexa app very well at all. it’s a bit of a nightmare.
Very easy to set up and use, just make sure to download the appropriate app. Are they essential? No. Are they nice to have? Yes. Large colour range and an easy way to alter the atmosphere of a room. Haven’t yet integrated them with Alexa but the Hub gives the flexibility if required.
Very simple to connect and set up. A great way to start your home smart lighting system. Works great when integrated with a philips ambilight TV. I’ve recently expanded to use more bulbs and some Iris table lamps
A brilliant way to make your home welcoming when coming home late at nigh
These are amazing. Easy to use and setup.
Very bright when set to max brightness, and the colours are great.
The lights are fantastic, they have great light output and are simple to setup.
The app that controls the lights works perfect and is easy to operate, I also like how easy all the lights are to control from my Alexa. Great quality I plan on getting more for the rest of the house.
I am a technology – SmartHome designer and enthusiast. The Philips Hue lamps are very expensive and there are cheaper alternatives out there. However, if bought as a ‘bundle’ like this, then the cost comes down a bit. Not a great fan though. I would love to Review more Technology.
Really good for creating an atmosphere in a room – whatever you choose
Bought these lights to work with my Echo and Alexa. It’s really simple to set up, I did it myself ( I am a 61yr old woman) so any one can do it. I love that I can change the colour of the light and it sets the mood I am in.
Annoying to set up. Easy to use through the app and on alexa after setting up
Great bulbs for living room and bedrooms, want to buy more but for some reason this starter kit is cheaper than buying two coloured bulbs usually but at the same time I don’t want to waste a hub by buying this twice to save money on bulbs as we are trying to be low and mindful of waste so will probably just buy the regular warm white light bulbs for other rooms. Works great with Google assistant and is easy to set up timers, you can even set lights to turn on at sunset.
Works great apart from a few bugs you will run into now and again. I use with my ambilight tv and it created a great scene for watching tv. I highly recommend if you want to step up your movie game with some added lighting. However the lights could be brighter and the transitions between colours could he faster and smoother.
They work, not as bright as the livarno but better colours an dining. Disappointed that you can’t make entertainment area with them. That was the reason to get them and now realised you can’t put them on table lamp and use them as discrete lights. With sync app they still got some effects that can show up along with the mood modes in the app.
An amazing start to a fantastic lighting system. We now have Hue through the house and take advantage of schedules to protect our home while away and help us all wind down for bed and wake up.more naturally.
Phillips you are great but are expensive there are other competitors out there that some of them do a better job
i enjoy shouting at my lights to turn them on
and then calling alexa a c***
Can’t fault this. Very easy to set up, and works ectly with Alexa. No longer live in a Light house, as just tell Alexa to turn the lights off after kids have left them on.
Have several routines set up through Alexa, with lights attached to rooms and groups.
honestly brilliant these are, the colours are fantastic and once you get used to speaking to alexa for lights it makes things very simple especially if you arent even in the same room
These lights are incredibly bright. My room has an older light fixture which supports 3 bulbs. I only need to use 2 of these bulbs to have my room fully lit up. And its just so noticeably different from any other bulbs iv used.
Couldn’t live without it anymore the convenience and the app is so easy to use
Never know how useful smart bulbs are to my normal routine. The convenience of being able to dim them and change colour temperature is definitely worth it. The value of colour is subjective but still cool to have
Got these three hue bulbs and the hub on sale and I’m not disappointed abit finicky with setting up alexa as sometimes if you have two bulbs in the same room it looses one but it eventually comes back. Only thing is that you have to get the perfect lamp shade to compliment these bulbs which I haven’t found yet most don’t let enough light through and some of the colours even with out the lamp shade don’t give out alot of light in general but I would let that put you off.
Nice professional packaging. I guess for the price you would expect that. Used the Philips Hue App alongside Alexa. The hue bridge is easy to set up. Just plugs into router. Fairly straightforward to set up. Just be careful to order the right bulbs you require I.e bayonet, screw or spots GU10. Just wish price was cheaper as feel slightly ripped off. Other than that can’t as yet fault them.
Easy to set up and use. Plug the hub into your router, follow simple instructions 5 mins later it’s connected. Downloaded app onto phone or tablet, plug in bulbs and your in wonderland.
Endless combinations of light and colour, you can select how much energy ( dimmer ) of the bulb you wish to use. Set up away from home settings and much, much more.
Wish I had got these sooner, and there’s so much in the range of Hue, I will be adding others at a later date .
One of my best purchases this year. Love the ability to dim and set the colours of my lights from my phone. Made my home a lot cosier for sure.
Great product, easy to use and a whole range of colours/scenes
Such a great, easy to set up and use, kit.
It’s been a few years now that we started our journey with Hue lamps, and we have been gradually building every lamp in our flat with Hues. It allow us to adjust the colour temperature at will from our phones, changes to colours when watching a movie to allow for less glare on the TV or make the lights red in the bedroom when at night not to disturb a lot. It also allowed us to have automations around the house, such as auto-off every night, auto-on at sunset, different mode for working, reading or simple max light!
It is not the cheapest option, but well worth it! I would suggest to wait for some sort of offer, usually you can get good offers during Prime day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, but also on other occasions, which significantly lowers the price. I do recommend getting a remote to allow for a more traditional switch based ligth operation too.
These arrived days early. If only all my deliveries were like this
I thought I had bought the Bluetooth version of this but it wasn’t. Saying that I’m very please how easy it was to set up. I’m have HomeKit set up on mine. Also I assumed it was wireless set up but you have to connect via the Ethernet cable to your modem. I’m delighted with them I’ll be adding more bulbs as time goes on as they are rather expensive but if you want quality you have to pay.
i ordered these when they were on offer, they are great bulbs and are quite simple to set up once the app is on your phone/ or device of choice, the only problem is the update has changed the way alexa works with the bulbs, before you used to be able to change the colour of the lights with alexa i.e: “alexa turn lights blue” and they would turn blue, now they won’t change colour if you ask alexa after the software update making them worse,
Another thing is yes it is fun to use and nice that you have control of your lights, they are expensive for what they do especially if you wish to expand above the starter kit, 40ish for each bulb thereafter it will soon cost a small fortune to change all bulbs in our house, they are great lights, but so are the 2 energy efficient bulbs you can buy and apart from the colour changing and messing about on your phone bits.
