Facile a installer.
Gorgeous frosted glass effect shade and aluminium fitting make this external light look premium and if you can get them on sale for 55-60 then they are worth it. You get the fitting and a Hue E27 Warm White bulb, which my Hub picked up immediately and I t’s surprisingly bright considering the frosted shade. Installed the front door one upside down to not case a shadow on my door number plaque and the backdoor one upright – they book look great. The upside down one should be fine as long as you grommet the wire fitting to keep water out (mine is also sheltered from rain). Couldn’t find many photos so I’ve attached it photos of the box, the fitting and a night/day photo of each after installation.
Really pleased with this light, bought as replacement, and its perfect. Looks really great and easy to use with Alexa

Purchased these for my garden and front porch light, lights up well and can used with timer. Easy to fit and comes with full instruction. Philips has a great lighting range.

Modern stylish look. Motion sensitivity to light and movement is good
I have only had this light a few days but I am quite impressed by it. I read some of the reviews prior to buying it which said the light was dim and it was a bit flimsy and light in weight. However unless you want a spot light to interrogate visitors and family it is plenty bright enough for me to see. The fact it is light in weight makes it easier to install by one person. I am no professional but an reasonable DIYer and found this very easy to fit. Instructions are not the best but I have never found a good set yet. Basically you undo a few screws with Allen key provided. Drill a couple of holes put in wall plugs and screw wall plate to wall. Plugs and screws are not provided. Connect 2 wires and put light back together insert bulb and cover. Job done. Took me about 20 mins. Connection to Phillips hue and Alexa happened automatically as I have already got some Phillips hue lights set up. All I had to do was change the name from outside wall light to porch (as that is where mine is) in both Phillips and Alexa apps and it worked perfectly both on my phone and echo. The only thing I don’t know about is it durability as only had a few days but we have had some pretty bad rain and it has coped with that with no issues.

For complete transparency. I am a huge Philips Hue Fan and have countless lights all over the house.
Firstly, the light came packaged superbly just like any other Philips Hue product. Upon opening the light it was much bigger than I assumed it to be. For me I was a little disappointed, but that’s personal preference. The unit comes with a Hue white light bulb.
Installation:
The installation was fairly easy. I took out the old light and used the same cable to connect the light. The bulb uses a Torx like screw to secure the unit and prevent the costly bulbs from being taken by unscrupulous passers-by. The bulb was easy to mount the wall. I installed my light with a wireless Hue outdoor motion sensor which has worked flawless. All in all the installation took 40 minutes, including drilling a hole through the wall. As of yet I have had the item for a few months and have seen no visible water ingress or condensation.
Pros:
-Easy installation and setup.
-Energy efficient
-Smart Bulb
Cons:
-Casing plastics look quite cheap and easy to damage.
-Cost, the unit is essentially just a normal outdoor light, bundled with a Hue white bulb. It may be more cost effective to take a more DIY route.
-Need a Hue Bridge unless you already have one.
Bottom Line
Nice looking; Easy to install; Bigger than expected; Quite expensive for what it is.

A little expensive for what it is.
I would probably have bought a normal outside light and a Phillips Hue Bulb.
Ended up changing the Bulb so I could have a Cool white rather than the warm white with a Hue White Ambiance bulb.
Motion Detection was added with the Phillips Hue Outdoor sensor a great addition to the product.

A fan of Philips Hue lights. One can get away with buying the bulbs and fit them to standard light housings but this is a good produc

Nice quality light, it is mostly plastic and does feel quite flimsy until it’s installed, but once it’s installed it looks and feels solid.
Fitting is really easy and the light gives a good spread in the dark. It uses a standard Hue bulb inside (bulb included).
I bought this on offer, and I think at full price it’s too much for what it is hence the 4 stars.

The light itself was easy to fit. Setting it up with the app took about twenty minutes but I was setting for than one light. Works great, shame it did not have a built in motion detector for the price. Great range but expensive.

Lampe funktioniert problemlos. Einbindung ins HUE System war kein Problem – Echt Super !
It was easy enough to install and works well with our hey google.
Excellent wall lamp used on porch entrance a very good luminescence easy dimmable with the Philips hue bridge.

We bought another Hue outdoor wall lamp to replace rusty, less sturdy lamp (that we already equipped with a Hue bulb a few years ago -and it still lasts, despite being switched on all night). We have a growing Hue range and this is a great addition to it. This new lamp cover looks a little shiny and I suspect rust might be an issue at some stage. Also the white lamp cover might yellow over time.
With a little DIY skill and tools (a proper power drill, screwdriver and a stanley knife) it was quite easy to fix the lamp on the wall: it requires two drill holes. Note that the required 2 wall plugs and screws are not in included.
Obviously make sure to shut down the power mains before connecting. It took me around half an hour to 45 mins to fix it to the wall.
We have however replaced the standard white Hue bulb that came with the lamp with the coloured version that we were already using in our former garden lamps. So we continue to bathe our garden in the appropriate atmospheric light when nessecary.
Facile da istallare……riceve subito segnale wifi…configurazione facile esteticamente bella un po’ caretta
We have Philips Hue bulbs in every room and wanted to have them outside too, bought two of these and they work great. Use the app timer or turn on and off to suit, so convenient and can be very bright too.

Looks good. Easy to set up and link with the Hue system
Mounted on wall of a shed. Nice looking unit and paired to the house network no problem over about 15m into a modern insulated house. Loses 1 star because maximum brightness it a bit disappointing compared to a standard LED lamp.
Mounted on wall of a shed. Nice looking unit and paired to the house network no problem over about 15m into a modern insulated house. Loses 1 star because maximum brightness it a bit disappointing compared to a standard LED lamp.
ALEXA klappt hervorragend.
IP44-Schutz ist aus meiner Sicht zu 100% gegeben.
Klare Kaufempfehlung.
We are a Hue house, with 55 Hue lights controlled via our hub (I know it says it supports 50, but the hard stop limit is allegedly 63, and it works perfectly now with 55). We’d been waiting for Hue outdoor offerings, and the Tuar are just right to sit either side of our bi-folds. The design and build quality *just* about justifies the outlay, for which I was somewhat disappointed to find only a very basic Hue E27 bulb included. A White Ambiance would have made me feel a little happier.
Still, no matter, as the white bulbs are now acting as spares, and two colour E27’s substituted (thanks Amazon Prime Day, these were a bargain!), so we now have full mood lighting offerings on our terrace, with our two Tuar’s being joined in the scene by our Hue Go which we’d bought for quite another purpose last year. In terms of installation, replacing two tired and old fitments (one broken as a result of misplaced footballs) was a doddle. Please note however that Philips doesn’t provide an Earth cable in the light, sticking to just blue and brown neutral and live wires. As such, if you have an Earth cable (the yellow/green one) coming out of your wall, you will need to tape it up, fold it back, and tape it up again. Clearly this must only be done once you switch off your power at your circuit board……. Once that minor task is attended to, these lights easily replace what is already there, and when fitted look great, work really well, and add a bit of style to our outside space. If only Philips had been a little more generous with their choice of included bulb……

I already have a range of Hue lights, all of them indoors so having a Hue lamp outside is an excellent idea. I doubt many would buy this lamp as a first ever Hue purchase, but should that be the case a Hue bridge is needed (plugs via an Ethernet cable into one’s modem and is set up via the Hue app for one’s smartphone).
Installation and control of Hue devices is a doddle and in my case the Hue bulbs have been ‘discovered’ by Alexa and given names such as ‘lamps’ and in this case ‘outdoor’. This enables voice control … ‘Alexa, outdoor on’ … or depending on where I am, just using the app.
Back to the outdoor lamp. The hardest part about this is running a cable and fixing it in place. The light is designed for a rear entry cable and for the lamp to look its best one will have to drill a hole through the wall, shed, conservatory etc to get a hidden cable run. I would have preferred an option to allow a cable to be fed through the bottom so I could fix it directly to a very thick stone garden wall (albeit with a visible cable).
Anyway, in use the lamp is lovely a casts a decent spread of light but ideally one would probably need several in a garden.
All in all very good apart from the cabling options
I initially commenced a trial of the Philips Hue system over Christmas 2017, by replacing the six halogen GU10 bulbs in my lounge with Philips Hue LED White and Colour Ambience equivalents. Without going into huge amounts of detail, I was so impressed with the features (dimming, colour changing ability, voice control, independent control of bulbs, remote operation etc) that within a month, I had replaced every bulb in my house with Philips Hue bulbs (a total of 39 bulbs)! Accordingly, it’s probably fair to say that I’m a huge fan of Philips Hue…
Until very recently, the Philips Hue system was aimed at indoor use only however, this changed during the middle of 2018, when a range of outdoor Hue lights were announced, including this particular Tuar Outdoor Wall Light.
In many respects, this is very similar to any other outdoor wall light as there is nothing “smart” about the light fitting – instead, all of its “smartness” comes from the supplied bulb. It is therefore perfectly feasible for anyone looking for smart outdoor lighting just to replace the bulb in their current fitting with a Philips Hue bulb and not necessarily need to change the fitting itself. Accordingly, I have set my review out in two parts, firstly on the light fitting itself and secondly on the smart features and capabilities of the bulb.
In respect of the light fitting, I think this is actually very stylish and is constructed from polished metal base (presumably aluminium) and a white plastic protective cover, complete with the same polished metal bands. It is significantly lighter than I was expecting as complete with the bulb, it weighs in at a mere 737 grams! It is also incredibly easy to fit, requiring only two screws to fit to the outside wall (these do not seem to be supplied) and then fitting the power cable into the supplied connector block. Anyone who is reasonably confident with DIY should be able to fit within an hour, probably less for an experienced electrician.
My only slight reservation with the light fitting is my previous experience with white plastic going yellow in sunlight but it remains to be seen whether this will be problematic here.
That brings me on to the smart features, which are part of the bulb rather than the light fitting. Included within this set is a standard, white E27 9W LED Hue bulb. In order to use the smart features of this bulb, you will also need a Philips Hue Bridge , which needs to be purchased separately. Without the bridge, the bulb will simply operate as any other normal bulb, which would then defeat the purpose of purchasing this kit!
The bulb is very easy to connect into the Philips Hue system – download the Philips Hue app (if you don’t already have it) on any iOS or Android phone, search for new Philips Hue bulbs and the system will do the rest. Once it is connected, the smart features are ready to use and from my perspective, the most useful feature is the ability for it to turn on automatically, when you arrive. This operates by entering your home address into the app and when your phone’s GPS detects that you are close to home, you can set the app up so that it turns the light on (either at any time of the day, or between sunset and sunrise).
Other useful features are the ability to dim the bulb using your phone (or Google Home/Alexa), set routines for the light to turn on and off at certain times or set a timer for the light to turn off after a certain period of time.
Overall, I love this kit – both the light fitting and the smart features of the bulb, so why not give it a try? I appreciate that the Philips Hue system might be very expensive however, in my opinion, the smart features are invaluable and I wouldn’t consider going back to basic bulbs.
I’ve been meaning to replace a couple of older outside lamps for ages and along came this Philips Hue Tuar lighting personal wireless system, Or at least part of the system as most of rest of it seems to for inside the house. More of that later.
When I opened the box my first impression was that it would be complicated to get working. This proved to not be the case. The lamp itself is a nice Modern designed mixture of Brushed metal and opaque light shade. Included in the box was the Hue bridge which is the centre of the system and can be added to for the rest of the house. also a cable to connect to the router and necessary plugs. You need to download the app.
The lamp I have is white for outside but the rest of the house you can change the hue and brightness to suit your mood.
The main point of all this is that you can control the lights from anywhere as the systems works by wifi from your phone,Tablet etc or using the controller. The indoor lights which I have now ordered to replace existing lamps. This will allow me to switch lighting on and off as I desire. Also alter the colour and brightness depending on my mood etc. I will be able to brighten and dim all the lamps as I want them as well.
You have to down load the app to make the system work and connect the hardware to this network. the instructions I found straight forward. I had a couple of goes at this and connected on the second try. I think it was me that didn’t do things properly first time.
I live at the edge of a village and outside street lighting is not available and because I can turn this on and off as I want it just gives a feeling the house is occupied when it might not. If you fit the motion sensor the lights will come on when you arrive or move about. As I said I have more of the system coming and look forward to setting it up. I think from what I susted that you just add each componant to the system one by one.
I look forward to setting everything up and relaxing with this after a hard days work..
This is premium weather-proof out-door lighting that really looks great near the Driveway. Hue lights are just the best. This is an upgrade compared to what we have. Easy pictorial instructions on how to screw it to the Wall. All you need is a Drill and the right drill bits.
I was initially worried after seeing the hole at the back of the housing was much bigger than the Mains cable. My worry was that water may seep through the housing through the excess space in the back hole. There is some kind of plastic Stopper that closes the hole and the cable snugly goes through that plastic. So no water should easily enter.
It is very easy to manage the lights using the Philips Hue App (am on Android). The App found my Hue Bridge with easy. From that point, I was guided by adding lights (these have to be powered). It is nice that you can give the lights your own names so you know which light to control.
For Outdoor lighting, these Smart Lights are hard to beat.
We like this. Stylish and practical. We have a range of hue lights, switches and sensors. This fits in seemlessly and have it programmed on the sensor near the door. It really is a good, hassle free set up and very reliable wireless
I like all Philips Hue products. They just work out of the box, just the way that they should. This is easy to setup with my existing hue lights, although I did change the bridge as mine was of the older type. Once I had switched on the light and done a search the lamp was found and added to my home list. I created a new group for outside lights (I will probably get another one of these for the front of the house) and then setup a routine to turn on and off at certain times. My only problem with this package was some of the very hard to read documentation stated that the lamp should not be used outside. Doh! this is an outside lamp, so the documentation went straight in the recycle bin along with the rest of the packaging. Very pleased with this
First things first, although there is no mention of it in the product description this item came with a Philips Hue Bridge, mains adapter and Ethernet cable in the box. The inclusion of the Bridge makes the price more worthwhile because without it the light is somewhat expensive for what it is, being mostly plastic. The wall mount itself is black ABS plastic with a removeable backplate held in by two screws. Inside there is a screw (E27) socket for a single Philips 9w (806 lumen) white Hue bulb (included), and two wires screwed to a terminator on the bottom of the housing. The mount is shrouded in a piece of brushed metal giving it a more modern look and it is topped off with a plastic diffuser.
The backplate of the light has a single hole (2cm diameter) for inserting the mains supply cable which would be screwed to the terminals. This hole seems far larger than it needs to be, raising the question of moisture or insect ingress if the plate is not perfectly flush with the wall, but time will tell. While there are no pre-drilled holes in the backplate for mounting screws, two diagonally opposite corners are marked and you just need to offer it up to the wall and drill your holes.
Fitted, the light was about 20ft from my existing Hue Bridge and setting it up was as easy as all the other Hue bulbs I’ve installed. The light casts a nice glow over the back garden and the moths love it! Overall it’s a pleasant looking light and I’ve only marked it down because it’s rather overpriced for what it is.
