Bought it to spray 2 outdoor utility boxes and a railing – needed another can but still think it’s great value, finished effect very nice.
Does exactly what it says on the cantop was a bit broken but nothing that a bit of sticky tape couldn’t sort out!
Good value for money, seems a good product and was easy to use. Would recommend.
I sprayed a hanging basket bracket as I wanted it a different colour. Easy to use. Dried quickly and gave a nice finish.
Good value for money.
Used this to upcycle an old frame, I used a black primer first and then this black matt paint. Worked really well and provided excellent coverage.
Love the matt black.
Changed my kitchen decor but I didn’t wanted to buy everything new so I’ve spray painted it with matt black and it looks awesome.
Easy to apply, it takes a bit to dry but that didn’t bothered me at all because the end result is perfect.
I wanted to spray all of my photo frames one colour to update our photo wall as a cheap job rather than buy loads of new frames. The can is easy enough to use, just made my hand cramp up a bit. These frames pictured are all 1-2 light layers of paint, and that used up the whole can. I’ve ordered another to finish the job.
It takes a little bit of practice to get used to the spray can. Also I learned the hard way that if you’re using a dust sheet to protect the floor you need to have something to hold it down away from the paint, especially if it’s windy!!
The spray went on quick and easy and dried fast. A great help in keeping the neighbours happy about the new antenna I have put up in the garden.
Used on wooden kitchen high-top chairs. Feet constantly on the bottom rung. Used now for a few months. No noticeable wear.
Used this on a child’s table. Even tho the table wasn’t prepped the spray stuck to it. Easy to get a thick even coat and doent chip at all. Table has been painted now for 6 months and had play dough stuck on it, tape and even toys banged about. No chips still very clea
Use this to spray planters – they look great and make cheap planters look expensive
Product lasted well and covered drawer handles as I wanted. Easy to use and quick to dry. Would buy agai
This paint is brilliant, used it to paint the grille on my 4×4, and none of it has chipped off, finish looks great.
I used this paint to spray my curtain rail fixtures from shiny silver to matt black to match. They have been screwed into the wall and readjustwd a couple times and paint hasnr scratched off or flaked. They look so good. Going to use this paint elsewhere to make some other fixtures match like the door handles.
I was deciding between matt and shiny black spray to change the colour of my table legs from white to black. Went with this brand to match my other black ikea furniture.
Sprayed it outside, one can was enough for the legs. It dried out quite quickly, had it back in my room in about 18h. It smells quite a bit so personally I would not spray it indoors as read in other reviews. Most of the legs needed just one or two layers.
Keep shaking the bottle throughout the work. It’s nice full black colour even though the layer underneath is white.
Did a super job of smartening up my satellite dish.
Have used Plasticote before, so can thoroughly recommend it.
I used this on my garden gate and some planters, they look brand new very good product, great finish.
Good spray cone, coverage, easy to use.
A very good paint.
Fantastic product and quick delivery. Really easy to use and gives really good results. Have a completely matt finish, exactly as I wanted.
pretty good, does what it says on the tin ha ha ha
Good stuff leaves a lovely finish used it to upcycle some plastic garden chairs which were green.
Not much in a tin though it took one ton to do chair in pic and the chair isn’t finished didn’t have enough to fully cover the back or the legs but have purchased another 3 as I love i
ordered the with my own reservations, mainly due to the limited information available within the listing. however this is my GO-TO spray. the black goes on easily, leaves a matt finish and with a single or double layer it covers all areas. I love it!
I prepped the surface prior to using the spray by sanding the stainless steel surface and wiped any residue away with 99% alcohol, then sprayed away!
images of end result. The drying time didn’t take long either, within 5 hours however to be sure I leave overnight so I can glue my rhinestones to the area sprayed.
Perfect, I painted a glasses frame and it looks fantastic
Yes, I’m pleased with this. It was easy to apply and give a nice even coat. Matt paint dries very quickly and it had a nice smooth finish. It made the metalwork look goods without the brand new shiny paint look (which I didn’t want). I recommend it.
I used this to spray a dishwasher. It’s easy to use and gave good results, it looks good
I use the same spray I bought from Wickes which had great coverage, but unfortunately the ones from amazon felt abit watered-down
I had to apply 3 and sometimes 4 layers to achieve the same result. Strange. The other difference was the price, i paid 8+ for each can and Amazon had it for 4+ each can, so i thought it was a no brainer not to get it. Not sure if anyone else had the same issue
Driver threw it over my garden wall took a picture and drove off product is great just drivers are the problem
This is a good product but if you want a matt finish this paint is not for you. I painted the top of a dashboard to reduce reflections on the windscreen but the paint has a sheen that still reflects the light.
Super easy to use. Initially I thought it was shiny however, when it dried it was definitely matt. I’m a complete novist when it comes to DIY and even I could use it. My only concern is that it will scratch so I have ordered a clear varnish just in case for my door handles. Spraying the cooker hood was no effort whatsoever. Almost bought a new one so this little product saved me a fortune. Highly recommended!
The frames were originally silver and cost around 12 each, so I didn’t want to spend another 120 on black ones. Instead I looked into spray paints, and the result is amazing. The finish is perfect, no drips, excellent coverage. It has given our kitchen a new lease of life.
I bought this for painting an aluminum contraption I made for my mobile grand piano. Paints nice and smoothly and appears to adhere well. Time will tell.
Brilliant for transforming my grey oak laminated shelf, to matt black to match my tv.
Purchased to re cover a previously painted bumper which was accidently damaged with a direct hit from a jet wash, had used another paint to repair which was now flaking . Its been a few weeks since application and it looks very good and I’m no expert painter, have at least 1/2 a can left over so good for re spotting should it be needed i would buy this brand agai
I picked up a can to spray some scuffed up parts on a BMX bike I was restoring. I added several coats (can states only 1 minute between thin coats is required), lightly sanded the parts with a bit of water, and added two more thin coats. The paint job looks great. Even in the sun, I do not see any flaws or defects. Being able to spray the can from all angles is a GREAT feature that should not be underestimated. I was painting on a piece of cardboard in my backyard and being able to turn the can upside down and still spray was very nice.
I use it to make my coal look blacker if we have guests over (pre pandemic) – they’re always impressed at how jet black our coal is compared to theirs.
Brilliant paint strong and drys very quickly, best price on the net getting it here. This is now the second time I’ve bought this paint and I’ve got to say the end results are fantastic, as long as you don’t over paint and follow the instructions on the ca
Used on many items while decorating my sons bedroom which included whicker storage drawer, frame of a mirror –
Easy to use and drys perfect – thank you
I like this spray a lot. Its actually a lot easier to apply than any other i used that were three times the price. You dont get lines and it blends in nicely. Black matt finish is great. Must leave to dry for at least 24 hours before touching tho. I had to leave the tables 3 days to fully dry. I think they look awesome in black especially compared to the old worn wooden look 🙂
Very good spray used on its of projects at home. No problems with the finish at all .
Really good cover very easy to use. Definitely recommend. I have done a few features in my new bathroom and changed the colour from chrome to black. All good so far after over a month using them.
I use this and the white version for undercoating miniatures and it gives a nice finish that retains detail, doesn’t flake and acts gives good paint adhesion.
Pretty impressed, after reading mixed reviews if this stuff, I thought I’d spray my Mini wheels like my Abarth, it sprays like a regular aerosol, good coverage and even pattern, I’m quite impressed with the finished result, 2 cans did 4 wheels twice with maybe half a can left.
Would recommend and buy again.
This gave great coverage to an old over door coat hook that looked very dated, so instead of buying a band new one I decided to upcycle it. I plan to spray an old rusted vinyl storage rack I picked up from facebook marketplace, and a set of wicker storage baskets which will be great for getting in between the weaves of the wood. Will use again!
Excellent product, great coverage. Rather than purchase new plug sockets and light switches to match our decor, we gave this a try. Perfect finish and saved us a lot of money.
Shake before use, easy to use, has lasted me long.
It’s a spray paint its black matte does what its says on the ti
Very impressed. One can was ample for all my kitchen cupboard handles including respraying coats. Dried a lovely matte black and was easy to use
Easy to use following the instructions and an excellent smooth finish.
Very easy to use, Matt black as required. Not sure on durability yet as what I’ve sprayed is waiting to go in our new bathroom once it’s renovated
I love this spray! This was the first time I have ever used a paint spray and I am so happy I have decided to buy this. Very nice colour, covers perfectly. Just shake it well before use and try to spray little at time so you don’t overdo the paint on the surface as it’s drips. Also impressed how big the spray bottle was and it dries quickly.
I had to paint some CCTV cameras to blend in with the surroundings and chose Plastikote for it’s good reputation (I hadn’t previously tried their products). Application was easy, the smell wasn’t too strong and coverage consistent even as the can was nearly empty. So far so good, the cameras have been outdoors in the elements for a few weeks now and still looking good!
Easy to use good coverage and great price I have re ordered lots of times to spray indoor furniture etc
I absolutely love the coating capability of this product. I have only used one coat so far and it has completely done the job. I am going to use a second coat- just for sanity’s sake but I am thrilled with the coverage so far. It does dry quite quickly, depending on what you’re spraying so there is very little wait time in between your project. The finish is a perfect matte black and it is beautiful! I can not recommend it highly enough.
I’ve used plasticote for years and it’s very durable if you use a decent primer (I prefer red-oxide primer). If you don’t then it can peel and scrape very easily (which could also be a benefit if you want to remove it afterwards!).
If you want a lasting finish, though, then this is great – very durable with the right prep.
Bigger than expected which is a bonus, works perfectly as it should do and sticks to the plastic models I use it for.
Easy to apply good coverage and dries quickly between coats
Used to respray my door handles and fittings and after just a couple of coats my handles were left in a lovely looking black matte finish.
Great for metals and quick projects.
Be sure to apply light coats though as i made the mistake of putting heavy coatings on and the paint came back off within a couple of hours because the paint wasn’t able to dry and layer itself. I wouldn’t mark this down or take away any stars for that though as it’s my own fault.
Its decent quality and cheap too. Used it on plastic flower pots. Seems good
Keeping your finger on the spray for a while makes your hand sore but then it can not be avoided. The product though is perfect. Covers well and looks a great dark black. Needs two coats for a deep finish. I used on a treated wooden gate and it covers very well and looks good. Would recommend.
Really good coverage, excellent finish, just beware that it does take a long time to dry
Used on an old table and drawer knobs! Easy to use and good quality.
I sprayed my rear fender on my electric scooter, came out very well, would highly recommend
Was looking for a spray paint to do graffiti art with, however the opacity isn’t great with just one coat. For big pieces that’s something you could work around, but for tags not perfect. Also the nozzle is quite wide and sprays a lot at once. Can’t get a lot of line precision with it.
Won’t give it a scathing review though, as I know this would be great with a few coats for pretty much anything else.
I spray painted a chrome coloured plastic tap black with this. Many layers and many layers of matt varnish over the top and it has lasted perfectly, even getting wet.
Used this to up-cycle some wooden stacking tables and it worked perfectly. Only advice would be buy more than you need. It took two cans to do the smallest two tables. Needed an additional can to do the largest one.
Awesome spray paint, that’s easy to use, fast acting and offers an even finish on all surfaces.Ive used this on wood, plastic and metals and I’ve been very satisfied with the results. I bought this along with a primer but my friend who’s an artist told me this specific brand doesn’t really require it. Still i’m really happy i got this because the quality is excellent.
I really wanted to replace my chrome kitchen handles with matt black ones, but the cost was going to be pretty high. So I decide to see what our current ones would look like if I sprayed them myself. This spray paint was brilliant, and did the job in two coats after using the same brand primer before hand. Saved me loads of money and they have a great finish.
I used this to paint the sun visors of my Landrover Defender, the product literally does what it says on the tin. Very happy.
Does what it says on the tin!! Forgive the pun but this paint is excellent, I’ve sprayed bare metal and it woks just fine, 2 coats most often but a good cover. 5*
I used this to paint over a mirror frame, it was easy to use and quicly dried.
Bought this to spray a fireguard. Turned out well, but needed more paint than expected. Went on easy and evenly
Perfect used it to cover
My kitchen cupboards … worked well
I have used this paint for well over a year to top coat garden furniture etc and the original items I painted have been outdoors for over a year and are showing no signs of rust. This paint was applied over the Plasti-kote Grey Primer.
I used it for indoors to paint my shelf so I am not sure about water resistance yet. It has a nice powder finish but as I was reaching the end of the can, the nozzle kept coming off. I found I’m not entirely fond of spray painting and though the finish has a nice feel to it, I won’t use it again. I will recommend to those who know how to use them better than I do.
Bought this but later realized this is not the peelable plastic dip spray you can get. This will not peel off in any way.
Highly effective paint. No need for primer or base coat and can be applied directly to wood or metal in my case. Try to keep distance from the object you are spraying in order to stop the paint from running. Also give it a good shake. I managed to paint two wall mounted lights and a chandelier type light with plenty in the can to spare. That was with 2 coats on each for the best finish.
Unfortunately, I do not have a before shot but I bought this beautiful masterpiece 17 years ago.
After 3 moves and having nowhere to hang it (due to my wonderful wife’s distaste of the piece) it had got a little chipped and looked a bit beat up.
I bought this product without much hope of restoring the piece but let me say, F%CKING WOW.
Apart from a few dimples, nothing to do with the spray, it looks better than when I bought it. No matter what my wife says, im finding a special place to hang this when she’s not looking and will just smile when dealing with the consequences. Thank you very much!!!
Purchase to spray a white drain pipe under our kitchen window black. Finish is perfect still a few months on and i’ve still got loads left. Just make sure you prep properly and follow the instructions on the can.
This actually worked really well on an outside wall which became patchy after pressure washing. It’s a West facing wall in the Lake Districts and so far has withstood a fair amount of heavy rain. Easy to use and value for money.
Great spray paint, easy to use with an even finish (first timer here). I used one can on 2 Ikea picture frames (unfinished wood, no sanding) and the result was decent. Could have probably done 3 frames if I had had more experience with spray painting. I used one layer of Plasti-Kote primer before this black spray paint. Picture for comparison – left is the DIY IKEA picture frame, originally unfinished wood, right is a black IKEA picture frame. You can still see the wood grain in the DIY version, which I thought looked quite elegant.
Works great. Used it for a toilet flush button. Black ones were going to cost us 45 pound. This spray paint made it look perfect!
I gave a metal turntable platter 5 coats with this using almost the full can. It gave a good finish but not perfect. In certain artificial light you can see that there is some variation in finish. In normal daylight conditions it looks very good though.
It gave a good spraying mist and didn’t block or dribble.
I would recommend this product.
Good quality spray paint. Used to paint plastic handles for child’s toy, the spray doesn’t last very long. Feels like there’s not that much in the can.
This product coats so well used on copper radiator pipes that now look less intrusive. Excuse the unfinished grout on the pic
Used this to restore the faded grille on my 26 year old car. So easy to use as you can spray directly onto the trim rather than having to go down the plastic primer/primer/paint route. No runs, paint was easy to work with, and now my grille looks newer than the rest of the car! The car won’t see much rain so I don’t know what it would be like after a few showers but very impressed so far.
Good spray, but doesn’t actually leave a matte finish on anything plastic or metal, leaves a shiny residue, takes about an entire day to dry completely before the item you’ve sprayed is ready for another coat of paint.
My husband used this to spray some old plastic guttering to make it look new and refreshed. It was only for the shed but looks great. The paint is made for plastic so should be ok. I will update in a few months after it’s had some weather on it.
Masked off and used on a car roof rack strip when metal started to show and it definitely improved it with results better than expected.
I tend to use a lot of Plasti-kote (and Rust-oleum) spary paints in various arts and crafts projects. I particularly like to use them when using paper (see photo 1) and also metal, as I find they cover well and generally provide nice vibrant colours, unlike some cheaper brands I’ve tried.
This matt black is no exception. It gives a really nice, deep finish (see the lion head, photo 2). Even without an undercoat. It also works well on metal (even if a bit rusty) and also stone.
Good stuff.

Doing a makeover on my grandson cozy coupe Car and needed black for the wheels and steering wheel, a good price covers well even after only one coat, my advice wear disposable gloves, does wash of with the help of a scrubbing brush so not too bad,(I’ve run out of gloves)arrived quickly thanks to prime
I used this to repaint the plastic lower front grilles on my MK1 Audi TT. It did a good job and 6 months later they seem to be as good as the day I painted them.
Great for coating stuff in paint…
Pros
– Dries pretty quickly
– Large coverage
– Nice colour
Cons
– Button for spraying not comfortable (Hands got tired really quickly)
– Didn’t feel completely full.
Overall – I reccomend
Brilliant coverage with no drips and only needed for a tiny repair job. However my only grumble is that the finish is shiny black on metal surfaces and not Matt black. The item I painted was looking 100% better. Well cheap too for such a large can. So worth every penny. If you are covering scratches make sure you prime and prepare the surface to be sprayed first. I can’t stress how important this is.
Done a perfect job even though it is slightly shiny than the other parts which were Matt black. But the product I painted (an alluminium battery cover) looks at quality product again. I’ll keep this spray paint in the kitchen cuboard in case I need it again.
Given a very deep, satin-matt finish on the PU aero parts for my car, just what I was looking for. One can was ample for spraying a lip and splitter.
I thought it may go off quicker given the high volatility solvents which absolutely stink, so only use in a well-ventilated space.
No spluttering from the nozzle when in use; I put the can in a bucket of hot water and then shook it for the recommended time to improve paint flow.
Fab will be buying more my bike looks brand new
I’m using this paint to refinish photo frames. It’s going great.
I thought I’d skimp on spray paint and buy some from the pound shop, big mistake. For a start it hardly has any product in the can, it smelled very strong, and took ages to dry. This Plasti-kote spray paint is far superior, and you can feel the weight of the paint in the can. It goes on smoothly, without spattering, and despite having to keep the nozzle depressed its not too sore on the hands. The colour is a very black black, which I softened with some Plasti-kote Aluminum colour on a sponge round edges to give a worn enamelled metal look. The smell is strong, but dissipates after the product is dried. I used it on a costume for Halloween, and it covered, paper, card, plastic, polystyrene, fabric, and rubber all with success. It remained tackier on the rubber, which was a cut up hot water bottle, but after a few days it was fully set. I have lots of the product left so can’t complain about value for money. It pays to buy the best, and I will return to Plasti-kote again, after my silly apparent money saving venture. I also like the fact that it has a safety lid on it, so if you have inquisitive little people around they hopefully wont get it off if they find the can. Amazon have beaten other stockists on price again to give the best value out there to their customers.
This is a great product. I have used it to spray parts of my motorcycle for a truly professional looking finish, and I’m a total amateur! Follow the instructions, and be amazed by the results. Excellent.
Excellent spray, looks great on my lamp. Dries reasonably quickly for additional coats. A bit fiddly to learn to apply this properly if it’s the first time you’re spraying something: spray just a little too much and you’ll have to start again when it runs. Really have to take care to spray the thinnest coat, and then just do it again and again. I did 3 coats for most things, and 4 coats for a couple of items.
Brilliant finish. 1st time ever used spray paint as I was not getting the quality of finish I wanted using traditional brush and stain.
Used to spray a custom arcade stick (basically a wooden box). Took several coats but not a problem due to quick drying time between coats.
Beware this stuff don’t half stink! I did the job in my attic due to weather and to reduce dust.
I’ve used this now for 2 projects and you can’t go wrong as its so ease to get a good finish as long as you follow the instructions and don’t try to paint in only 2 coats.
PS, as a note, if needing a clear coat then don’t use ‘Plasti-kote 24000 400ml Premium Spray Paint Matt – Clear Acrylic’ as this just cracks and you’ll find yourself sanding down and applying a different clear coat (gonna try the clear coat in the Plasti-kote Super Spray range as it supposed to be more flexible, and if anything like the coloured paint will be brilliant).
