How to identify good quality portable monitor and poor quality portable monitor?
1, Check if the material is all aluminum alloy CNC or plastic/iron.

Initially was sent a faulty monitor but customer service were incredibly helpful and had it replaced in no time.
The product is fantastic, especially for its price range. HDR looks gorgeous and with a 4k screen it makes watching shows or playing games a joy.
The unit I received did suffer from a fair bit of backlight bleed at one corner causing said corner to look a tad brighter and washed out than the rest of the screen. It wasn’t a big deal for me as I was primarily using the product as a secondary monitor for my PC as I don’t have enough desk room for two full sized monitors.
If the story ended here I would have given the product a 4* however the excellent customer service team behind this product earns it the 5* it would have gotten without this issue.
I used the contact details in the additional booklet received with the product and was put in touch with Anna from their customer service team. They offered me various solutions, such as a full refund for sending the item back, offering a replacement or a partial refund if I wanted to keep the item (this is what I chose). The response time was also fantastic, all communication was done via email and they responded each time in under an hour.
Tl;dr the product is fantastic and is a lot cheaper than alternatives with similar specs. If there is any issue with the product I’d recommend contacting their customer service team rather than sending it back via Amazon as you’ll more than likely get a better and more satisfactory result 🙂
Amazing Portable Monito
This monitor pairs perfectly with my MacBook Pro M1 laptop.
For the price you really can’t fault it, great colours, brightness and connectivity. And it’s the perfect size and thickness to carry around with your laptop.
Personally I use it with a separate mouse and keyboard so it acts a home set up out and about.
Definitely recommend.

Best monitor to have
I travel a lot for work I need a second monitor to help and this monitor is perfect to be put in your backpack alongside your laptop.
It’s recommended to get a stand for it but apart from that it’s versatility and it’s quality means it is a really good purchase.
Really great monitor, works well with MacBook Pro (M1)
I’ve been using this monitor as part of a portable remote working setup for the past week or so. It works perfectly with a MacBook Pro M1 (also tested with a MacBook Air M1) unlike some other portable monitors. Screen is very bright and clear with vibrant colours. Works on a single USB-C cable from the laptop so there’s minimal clutter.
Very minor criticisms: it’s pretty thick for what it is (compared to the thickness of a laptop screen), and the magnetic cover attachment is a bit weak. Other than that I’m very happy and would strongly recommend.
Update: my monitor developed an issue after about 8 months, but EVICIVs support was very good and after sending back the broken monitor they shipped me a replacement immediately. Recommended.

Item just arrived, very solid packaging, easy to set up and connect to my macbook, works straight away, love the cover that converts to a stand, clear instructions and what seems like a great warranty/returns policy – I am very very happy. It’s about to get lots of use so let’s see how it fares!
fantastic portable monitor and customer service
This is a great portable monitor, and works really well with a Mac book hdmi cable on 2015 retina. The screen would not power up after two months, but customer service were fantastic, helped me work out it was the plug and replaced it. very quick and easy and great follow up to make sure the replacement worked. cannot recommend the monitor and company enough.
This is a very good travelling monitor; I recommend it highly.
The monitor is excellent, although it did display a fault after a few months of use; but then hardware does occasionally go wrong. I asked the supplier for an exact replacement and they were extremely helpful and sent a new one through by return. Thank you Anna at Eviciv for coordinating this so effectively.
A godsend when working remotely away from home
My company laptop only has a 1980 x 1260 screen which makes detailed GUI work very tedious. This 4k portable monitor made a huge difference when working from rental apartments abroad on a mixed vacation / WF”H” trip. It draws power just fine from the laptop’s USB socket, which avoids searching for extra wall sockets – often in short supply especially in older buildings or hotel rooms – or having to use a multi-way adapter. Yes, as others have observed, using the case as a stand isn’t perfect, but it’s good enough, and the alternative – simply pushing a pen through the hole in the bottom left hand corner of the monitor, is pretty good too. Ideally I’d like to find a small lightweight stand that can position the monitor above the laptop screen. For this trip I improvised but there won’t always be suitable objects in the apartments for that. Extremely glad I bought this and took it along. Of course the text is small, but with good screen spectacles (“occupationals”) like mine, it’s very useable without strain and, again, massively superior to the laptop screen. Even if you have a laptop with a higher res screen you may well still find this portable screen very welcome. Finally, it’s light enough and small enough to be viable in cabin baggage.
Good eyecare screen, with good customer service
Unfortunately the screen that I purchased appeared to be DOA, and when I contacted the supplier’s customer services, and provided a video of what happened, they quickly confirmed this was the case and shipped me a replacement. I sent back the dead one, and they refunded my shipping fees. It was annoying that it took a few days to sort out, but I can’t complain about the result, and the replacement screen fired up straight away, and I’ve been using it ever since.
The image is stable and crisp, and the colouring is similar to my large eyecare monitors. I’m running it via displayport, but it also has HDMI and USB-C inputs. All in all, it’s a nice little monitor which I’ll be taking with me when I travel.
Good quality 4K monitor.
I bought this 4K monitor to use with a Raspberry pi computer and also to run videos and similar. Straight out of the box the quality of the screen was evident and on first use the 4K resolution was very apparent. I used it to view David Attenboroughs Earth series in HD and the picture quality was excellent.
Probably a bit too good for a Raspberry pi and doesn’t have touch screen but adds quality and well worth the extra over cheaper monitors.

Despite the description stating that the screen has a CNC Aluminium surround, it was actually just cheap black plastic.
Picture is good but construction lets it down.

Since writing my initial feedback I have had a number of conversations with the manufacture/supplier.
The seller has provided me with an explanation of how the error in description has occurred and has also compensated me for the products shortfalls.

Really good customer service!
The screen works perfectly fine, it’s in 4k, nice resolution works with my PC and Mac, both horizontal and verticle. But when it arrives, the screen back and cover/stand was scratched due to the faulty packaging box. I’ve sent a message to the customer service, and it was resulted very quickly and dealt with professionally. Very happy with the service and the product itself. Recommend.
Excellent customer service
I had a unit purchased in Dec 2021 that really impressed. High quality screen for a decent price. After a few months on the road it developed an issue. I contacted support through the link on the product page and a replacement unit (new) was offered. Anna on their support site gave assitance through the return process. I am very impressed at the level of customer attention given and now have my replacement unit. Wouldn’t hesitate to purchase from the vendor again.

it ticks all the boxes on my xbox one x in 4k and also connect to my laptop .the color on the picture is good but not amazing. the settings are pretty basic but nothing to complain about . im sure the casing is plastic not metal as advertised
Excellent service
If you wanted a 4k screen and the option of a vesa mount, there are few if any good alternatives that i could find. Unfortunately the screen developed vertical lines and residual impressions after over a year of light use. Having contacted the seller looking for a solution, they could not have been more helpful. Having tried changing cables around to no avail they quickly offered a replacement. This has been received very promptly and is now working very well again.
The screen is excellent and the design is very streamlined. Looks great and good value for money for a 4k screen of this size.
TL;DR
Perhaps not good enough to become your permanent primary monitor if you are more demanding user. However it is certainly very useful to create a productive setup in constrained spaces, and when portability is needed. More than adequate for any text-centred workflow and for watching films.
If your other monitor is an Apple display, you might notice that quality is not quite at the same level. That it can even be compared to it, however, tells me that this monitor is pretty good value for money. I can recommend it to most users.
CONS
* The panel has a slightly darker shade toward the bottom edge. Not enough to hinder usability, but something worth knowing. It can really only be noticed on bright backgrounds.
* A MacBook Air cannot power it directly, even when the laptop itself is powered by a high wattage charger and using a 100W/10GBps cable. It therefore requires a 30+W charger or power bank, and it’s not very suitable for casual mobile use. This may be a limitation of the MacBook itself, but it’s important to note nonetheless.
* It’s glossy, and it has no appreciable anti-reflective coating to speak of, so it can get quite reflective in certain conditions. It is a lot more reflective than a MacBook display. Naturally the effect is especially noticeable on dark background. Your mileage may vary, could be a deal-breaker for some.
PROS
* Good value for money.
* Good picture quality, with levels of detail comparable to a Mac display (unsurprisingly since this monitor has full RGB-tile pixels, so it’s a true 4K)
* It’s glossy, meaning that it look very sharp (but also that it is reflective)
* Works as Retina display/HiDPI monitor out of the box with a MacBook, no driver or app required, both via HDMI and via USB-C
* Excellent connectivity: the full-size HDMI connection is particularly welcome, then you have mini-Display Port, and obviously USB-C (a 5Gbps link is sufficient to drive it.)
* It is very bright at 100%, subjectively as bright as the built-in MacBook Air display. I keep it at 60-70% brightness during the day, less at night.
* Colour accuracy is respectable for this price point, perhaps with a blue component that is a tad dominant compared to the calibrated MacBook display. The blue-light filter is useless (it turns the screen amber, with 4 levels from “excessive” to “hilarious”), but the RGB settings can correct that if you really want. Responds reasonably well when the Mac’s TrueTone is enabled, although it doesn’t match it perfectly.
* Ergonomics is good. The buttons on the side are easy to reach and to operate, with a good tactile feedback, and they are clearly labelled. They are less easy to recognise at the touch, because they small and close to each other, but you’ll get the hang of it after a while.
* The case works well as a stand, it’s the classic design introduced by Asus when they put out the first portable monitors of this kind. This means that it’s as stable as it can be.
* The VESA sockets allow for a more permanent setup, should you need that.
NEUTRAL
* Built quality is OK, the back is an aluminium plate, while the frame is made of plastic. I would not trust the corner hole to prop it up with a pencil, and I would handle it with care without straining the edges.
* The speakers are extremely poor, no surprise there. Maybe one could use them in a pinch, I don’t know, while setting up a Raspberry Pi or something of the sort. They can be otherwise safely ignored.
* Design is nondescript a frankly a bit dull. On the one hand this makes it pretty unflashy and forgettable, on the other it means that it blends relatively harmlessly in any environment.
Very clear picture
I use this as a second monitor for my surface pro 7 laptop. The image quality is excellent and the resolution is pretty good. My old monitor was twice the size, but due to it being lower resolution, scaling made dragging windows between monitors very messy.
Only criticism is that the cover (magnetic) is a bit flimsy. When transporting it needs to be in a laptop case, but that’s not a major issue.

Had bought a 1080p monitor and was happy but when I bought this 4k screen I was over the moon. Works perfectly with my Dell XPS15
Brilliant 4K monito
For years, at big corporations, I have used shoddy monitors with pixelated screens which other colleagues somehow don’t see. I’m not sure exactly who is responsible for this sad state of affairs, because I’ve plugged this monitor into both Mac & Windows computers and it renders beautifully, so can only blame the HD monitor manufacturers and their marketing departments.
At the start of the pandemic, I decided I’ve had enough of pixelated text, and upgraded to this monitor for working from home. This is in fact my second portable 4K monitor and it is fantastic (the other was fine but side inputs and build quality make this one far superior). For my work as a software engineer I’ve found the screen size adequate (Pro tip on Mac install Display Menu to adjust the resolution higher than Mac allows by default).
The quality of the screen is brilliant, with not a pixelated pixel in sight.
I’m using the monitor at the dining table on an adjustable laptop stand, and can easily set it up and pack it away. It’s so portable that I even took it with me, when “working from home” in South Africa, using a stack of books to raise it to eye level. It’s possible to connect to a MacBook via HDMI or USB-C.
