Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis arcade stick is a great controller to use with the Nintendo Switch, although you can only use it through USB, it’s great for those who play competitive fighting games or even for casuals who play games like Namco Museum or even Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. If you’re like my father who can’t get the hang of the controllers that came with the console, then I highly recommend buying this. Although it only has one stick, there are switches on the side that allow you to change what the stick will act like. If there is a game that will only allow you to play with the joy stick, then just one flick of the switch and you’ll be playing the game. I recommend experimenting with the switches on the side as they all do something specific. Another downside to this is the fact that it only has one stick. Considering the Switch has games like Doom, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Super Mario Odyssey, that limits the amount of games you’ll be able to play on the switch, but you can actually play this on your computer too! If you computer has games that allows the HORI arcade stick, then you can play it there too. In other words, you have more options to play with this controller compared to any other switch controller with having to hack or anything

The only game I have for the Switch is Super Smash Brothers, so my review is based on a single game. The bottom line is, considering the genuine Wireless Pro controller is $60, for $30 more, this is an excellent fighting/arcade stick controller. I think that had it been more than $100, I might have taken off a star.

I understand the concerns of the other reviewers, but I never had that problem, so quality control might be on a case by case basis. To me, it feels sturdy – let’s say, on a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is the OG big cabinet arcade stick, then this is around a 7. I have had other sticks before – a couple from Hori, where the Hori was about an 8 – so this is around that quality. The Hori’s I had were over $100 though, so that’s why for me, for the price, the quality is acceptable. It is better than the all-plastic sticks, but not as sturdy as the OG metal ones which are encompassed by thick wood, instead of this plastic base.

The balance feels good. It does move a little when you do those big-motion moves that are reflex-reactionary or from surprise. For normal moves that you plan, it stays in place fine. The buttons are also sturdy. I have been using this stick for about two months now, and it has been holding up fine. In some of the off-brand sticks, the buttons would get stuck.

Movements (joystick) and actions (buttons) react fine in Super smash brother. The reaction times are similar to the wireless controllers, but there’s just something about using an arcade/fighting stick that you must use for fighting games. There’s a nostalgia about it that you just can’t really describe. But the feeling is very different, and I would recommend it to all.

I have owned (and still own) many old “arcade style” joysticks for many different old video game consoles, going all the way back to the old NES and PS2 ones. Some of these have been okay for playing arcade games, some decent. Then there’s PowerA Fusion, which is amazing. I was very surprised by how well it controlled, even in 4-way controlled games like Donkey Kong on the Switch. I highly recommend this for playing classic arcade games! Update: I finally got a chance to try this on the Xbox (Series X). The product listing shows “Works with Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One”. This does not appear to work on the Xbox, however. It doesn’t pair, nor does it work wired (with the power off as the instructions state for wired mode). The issue is that there’s no Home button to initiate turning on the joystick to enable the Xbox to see it, nor does pressing any button (-, +, Home, etc.) perform this function. Do not buy this then thinking you can use it on an Xbox, as you probably can’t. It’s still very good for the Switch though!

I’m giving this a 4 star review because other younger people in my household really had fun using this for several games on the Switch. Maybe it’s because I’m older, but I had a hard time adjusting to the different buttons. It was much bigger than I expected, also. Based on watching others use this, it seemed to be very fun and they enjoyed using it for their fight games. Again, I just couldn’t coordinate.

I got this at half price so it was absolutely worth it. Solid construction, has a little issue where I have to take the batteries out and pop them back in every so often but the batteries last a long time and it doesn’t cut out during play so I don’t worry about it. The Switch has a lot of games I thought would be good for this and aren’t necessarily – for example, I thought it would help my scores in the retro arcade games but really it just makes PAC-MAN more fun. Where this stick really shines is in the beat’em ups and Mortal Kombat. Wow, what a difference in pulling off combos compared to the pro controller.
    Definitely worth the money.

i have to arcade sticks one from 8bitdo which i love! but my kid likes to play with me and monopolizes my arcade stick, so i saw someone do a review on this one and decided to give a try and it great it has great response to commands. it weighs about the same as my 8bitdo stick and its slightly smaller than it but has superior palm surface for hand rest. I transitioning my Nintendo switch as my arcade system for retro games. the main selling point was the wireless feature which is why I went with this powerA stick. Id recommend it for people who want a casual arcade experience and easy on the budget thats wireless. it does come with a wire too if your not into wireless. batteries are not included fyi.

I am impressed with the true like like arcade experience this brings to the table! It easily fits on your lap too. It is easy to connect and is wireless!!! This made me pick up and play some of my older games because it is easier for me to jump and maneuver with the single big joystick. I also purchased the arcade classic games for the switch and this is absolutely great foe that too. Wow, I hope this will work on any future Nintendo system because it is that great.

Trust you found this review honest and helpful:-)

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI ordered two at $65 each and I couldn’t be happier. A few things I was unsure of until they arrived that made me nervous:

1.) You can connect two of these at the same time to the Switch.

2.) The PowerA website has a .pdf template that was easy to use on my Cricket machine. My cheatstick now has Rayquaza adorened in all his glory.

3.) As much as I love distributing a solid beat-down in Mario Kart, the level of humiliation I can deliver to my arrogant child at SF II Championship Edition is borderline abusive, and gives my life a greater purpose.

4.) These came in really nice packaging which was wrapped in plastic, and then shipped in an Amazon box. Zero damage to the original box’s, which was really cool ’cause I’m a hoarder and hope to save these throughout the zombie apocalypse.

5.) These are not the best fightsticks, but the Switch isn’t the best console either and you still bought it, right? Listen for $65, these things will adequately remind you of the days when you rode your skateboard 10 miles barefoot in the snow, just to train in the Ancient Arcade Arts.

    An honest review.

This joystick feels great under my hands and looks great sitting out as well. This controller is sturdy and the buttons/joystick are comfortably stiff to give a nice “click” feel. The joystick is meant for the d-pad, not as an analog stick so depending on the games that you play, that’s something to keep in mind. This controller doesn’t work with every game but is a nice way to give your hands a break from a normal controller on games it is compatible with. This is my first arcade-style controller and I haven’t found anything I truly dislike about it. If you’re in the market for an arcade controller, this is definitely one to consider.

I’ve tried four different arcade controllers for Nintendo and this is one is easily the best.

this is a very well designed joystick controller. Everything from the hidden usb port, the cable storage, the solid buttons that can handle intense abuse and so forth is a feat of great engineering.

The only thing you may want to check is whether it plays nicely with your games on the switch. I tried this on Pokemon and it wouldn’t work at all. For the older SNES games, it worked well.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI really was excited to try this for Nintendo Switch, it looked like a really cool controller to have for certain uses cases. I’m impressed with it and if you play the type of games that this is good for, and want a high quality stick to use at home to give you an arcade like experience, then this the closest you can get without having an actual cabinet. Those usually only have a few games built in and don’t have as good of a screen as your TV does. This is best for games like smash brothers and other fighter games, but I found it to be really useful in Mario kart because of the precise steering you can achieve. Games like Zelda BOTW won’t work well with this or any games that require two sticks or triggers and face buttons being used at the same time. This controller does have all the buttons of a full controller, and the stick can be used at left, right, or the directional pad (but it can only be one at a time). But for all the games where that caveat is not an issue, this controller is really awesome. 2D platformer side scrollers are fun with this also. The controller can be used wired or wireless with AA batteries. A really long (9.8 ft) USB C to USB A cable is included, for plugging into the switch dock. The USB C port is hidden in a front compartment for storing the long cable that is included in the box. The faceplate can be swapped out, and an alternate is included, I’m unsure if you can purchase more, but there is a template on Power A’s website for you to print your own design if you want and have the necessary printer.

For the original price of $129, I think this is only for serious enthusiasts who play a lot of arcade style of games or fighter games. But since it’s currently selling for half that on Amazon (as of Jan 2021), this is much more accessible for a lot of people. The quality of this controller is very durable and is easily worth the $65 price. I don’t think I would get this for a child, there are cheaper options. But for 12 and up, it would be ok and adults especially who grew up going to Arcades in the 80s and 90s will be the people who appreciate this design the most. There is definitely a nostalgic quality to this arcade stick and as a millennial, I really think it’s cool having this style of controller in my home, you used to have to go to the mall and spend 50 cents a pop for this type of experience.
TL;DR- it’s really cool and a high quality controller, just make sure you have the right type of game for this to be worth it to have such a specific and limited controller layout, for the price of a Nintendo Switch Pro controller.

For “old school” video game players. . . . This is a nice addition to Nintendo Switch. It’s easy to connect.

But one thing I found is that it does not work well if it’s not on a flat surface. When not on a flat surface, the joystick had trouble moving the character up. That’s kind of a hassle, as you can sit on the sofa with it on your knees.

My mom actually likes this way more than using the regular switch controller (which doesn’t work for her at all). So that’s certainly a plus.

I got this for my son to use when he’s playing with his friends on fighter games. I also tried it out and it seams to work as advertised, though I will say that for the price point it doesn’t seam as well built as I would have expected. It also a bit bigger than I thought it would be. My son seams to think it helps him beat his friends though so it’s still getting 4 stars.

PowerA brought their “A” game with this joystick! If you love button mashing, and love fighters, this joystick gives you the ability to live life with joystick capabilities!

The video I provided was DragonBall FighterZ. This just shows how quickly the controls respond to the action on the screen! And, for those naysayers who say it does not come with a cable, see pictures above. You can play with batteries, or use the 10 FOOT CABLE PROVIDED and rock out with your favorite fighting game! It also has additional features allowing different controller configurations, as well as a skin to change out AND they even show you how easy it is to make it your own!!!

Seriously. This is a no-brainer. You need this for your Nintendo Switch! It is worth every penny spent!

Great joystick for the Nintendo Switch!

This is a very well made and easy enough to use Japanese Arcade Style way to play video games. My husband was beyond excited to try it out and it was easy enough to pair, just read the instructions and very fun and easy to use.

As you can see there are the Nintendo Switch buttons in the top left corner.

Batteries included – please don’t throw them out of the black packaging.

You are able to design and print your own face card – which is really cool as there is a downloadable template. I ended up using my Brother ScanNCut to scan the additional card and then printing the design we wanted on thin cardstock and cutting out with my machine.

The joystick moves with ease and is very reactive.

This product was an amazing buy. It came without damage, and in an elegant package. The product itself is very premium and feels nice when using. It’s very easy to product to the game and brings a lot of enjoyment to game nights. I also really like how it’s very portable. I recommend this to any gamers who want to play on Nintendo products.

Compared to other fight sticks, this is a really good size and good weight.

This is easy to set-up. You can select to go wired or wireless. In the case of wireless, you need to use the included AA batteries. Now, here’s what you really need to know: there is no detectable lag when you opt for wireless! Very, very nice!

The buttons feel good and are not (at all) “gummy.” Likewise, the joystick input is very responsive. And, there are grippy rubber pads on the bottom of the item to prevent slipping.

There is a compartment in the back for the cord. Perfect for travelling.

There is an additional overlay to change-up your look.

While, we have several fight sticks, this is one of my favorites for the clean look and the zero-lag!

Highly recommended to those who collect or use fight sticks.

Really Nice! No Lag When Wireless ...

I have been using the this PowerA Fusion Wireless arcade stick with my Nintendo Switch for an week. The quality and weight of the product is prime. What I mean is it does not feel cheap. Good material is use for this product. Looks to be durable. I like that. The design is boxy, reminds me of the NES. I like that as well, 2 thumbs up for that.

This is a fightstick made for the Switch. Any arcade-style fighting game like Street Fighter, Skullgirls, or BlazBlue, this fightpad works as good as a mid-tier fight stick. This can be both used through Bluetooth and by a USB-C connection. Button mapping is native to the Nintendo Switch and supports all of the Switch buttons. The USB-C uses USB HID, so it can be used on a PC. Materials and button are high-tier with a custom facecard. The joystick and ball can be unscrewed and stored in a chamber like the wires for easy transport. The joystick is responsive and definitely one that you can practice to 100% consistency on any joystick dependent game.

The D-pad is not great. There is noticeable input lag and longer command read (meaning that there is silent input past pressing the button) that definitely makes playing with Smash much more difficult as the sort of crisp control is lacking here.

This arcade stick should be used sparingly wired with the Switch as it definitely has a noticeable drain on the battery. This is not a design flaw, just a reality if the Switch is powering a peripheral through USB-C. The Bluetooth connection is much more energy efficient, but this requires the Fusion to be charged separately. Battery life is through AA’s, and if you use the camera Lithium ones like Energizer Ultimates, you can use them for a tournament day without replacement.

Great controller / fight pad that has good quality construction!

Buttons are solid and joystick is fluid. It’s heavy and definitely stays were placed. Plug and play ready to use and Bluetooth set-up was simple and easy. I connected it to both a switch and switch lite.

The buttons are very big and the layout will take some getting used to, but it’s really comfortable to play on. Great for any arcade game, button masher without worrying that you’re going to ruin your joy cons. This worked great on our games and played very comfortably on the coffee table.

Nice red color and comes with an additional face plate. Really loving this!

    Love this fight pad!

This game pad for the Nintendo Switch gives me a very nostalgic feeling of being back in the arcades as a kid. The joystick is very responsive and the buttons respond quickly as well. I did have quite a bit of trouble getting it to connect wirelessly so the first couple of times I played it I did so wired. I played Super Smash Brothers Ultimate to allow for me to test out most of the features all at the same time. It was not only easier to control my character but overall my game play and score improved using this game pad. I really like the that the controller settings can be toggled via a switch on the display. The batteries do wear out fairly quickly so I wouldn’t recommend using it without re-chargeable ones or you will be going through them like water. Overall I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to feel like a kid in the arcade on a Saturday morning again.

Nice fighting stick for Super Smash Bros! I know the hardcore gamers can pick apart this stick, but my kid is 8 yrs old and is blown away by this, and that’s all that matters. He gets dibs on this stick whenever we play Super Smash. For the serious gamers out there. The good news is that all the parts seem to be Sanwa compatible from the joystick to the buttons. So if you want to, you can replace the components. An 8 yr old doesn’t know how to complain about a missed combo. LOL! So, I won’t be doing any modification. This stick is fine as is. The red top of this stick is not permanent, it is a decorative plate, and can be replaced with other plates. They do include an extra design for you, but we happen to love red, so we won’t be changing anything. Another thing to note is that when you plug in the USB-C cable, it is simply for power for wired play. It doesn’t do any charging because there is no internal rechargeable battery. If you want to play wireless, you need to use two AA batteries, which they claim can give you 30 hrs of gameplay. We’ll see about that. This is a 5-Star product!

If you’re into classic fighting games like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, etc. then this is a perfect arcade-style controller for your Nintendo Switch. The base is nice and heavy to keep the controller in place and the joystick and buttons are very clicky. The buttons have a great spring action and you can press them incredibly fast compared to the buttons on a normal controller. The combination of the joystick and the large buttons makes executing special combo moves much easier and precise.

The controller also has a removable clear plastic panel on the top. This allows you to insert different artwork below the panel to change the look of the controller. One additional insert is included and you can always design your own to stick in there.

The controller has buttons for all the normal buttons on a Switch controller, including the plus, minus, home, and share buttons in a little area in the top left. There are also the usual lights to show which player number the controller is assigned. A small switch is used to select whether the joystick is assuming the role of the D-pad, the left analog stick, or the right analog stick. Note that the joystick is purely digital so it’s basically a D-pad and is best for traditional fighting games that don’t use analog stick controls. If you use the switch to assign the joystick to be one of the analog sticks it will just function in a digital fashion (either on or off for each direction with nothing in between).

The back of the controller has a door that reveals a storage area for the included USB-C to USB-A cable as well as the USB-C port on the controller itself. If you want to use the controller in a wired setup you simply plug the USB-C end of the cable into the controller and the USB-A end into your Switch’s dock. When you are using the controller in this way there’s no need for batteries in the controller and you don’t need to configure anything on your Switch.

To use the controller wirelessly you install two AA batteries (which are included) into the bottom of the controller. An on/off switch on the back of the controller is used to save the battery life when the controller is not in use. You then follow the usual procedure with the controller and your Switch to pair the controller to your Switch. This part works just the same as when you add a regular controller to your system.

Note that I could not get the wired setup to work with my Switch Lite. Since the Switch Lite doesn’t have a dock and just has the basic USB-C port on it I tried several USB-C to USB-C cables between the Switch Lite and the joystick but none of them seemed to work. The wireless connection worked just fine with the Switch Lite though.

Overall I really like the feel of this controller for fighting games. If you’re into fighting games then this really helps bring the arcade experience home on your Switch. You’ll probably want to grab two of these if you play a lot of versus matches with your friends as having just one really puts the person using it at an advantage!

Perfect for old school fighting games! Nice and heavy

I will be honest, I have him a Nintendo Switch a few years back and I am not quite sure how this works with it. I am pretty sure that it is big enough to sit across the room with your Switch connected to your television and be able to play your games. I am presuming he will love it. I will find out soon enough.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis stick is a pretty decent platform to start with but it will need a button and stick replacement to really be perfect. The joystick itself isn’t terrible but it is really lose but the good news is that it is a Sanwa JLF clone and is very easily replaceable with an actual Sanwa JLF. The buttons on the other hand are pretty terrible as the switches used in the buttons are very clicky tactile buttons reminiscent of something like a cherry blue switch, which for games with precise button commands like fighting games aren’t great and will lead to dropped combos or missed inputs. The buttons like the stick can be swapped out with actual Sanwa or Seimitsu buttons which I highly recommend you do if you do get the stick. In terms of being able to mod the stick they make it very easy and even have a guide for what cables go to which buttons and to my surprise hiding inside the stick was a Sanwa compatible octogate for the joystick which is really cool of PowerA to provide, The art on the stick can also easily be replaced. Overall I think the stick is a good platform to start with, but considering the current MSRP I really think they should have tried to include authentic Sanwa Buttons/Joystick as other similarly priced sticks do include them.
