I really like this microphone. It’s a bit heavy, but still portable if you need to tote it. Good quality.
Sehr guter Klang , allerdings fehlen mir einstell mglichkeiten am Mikrofon selbs
I did a lot of searching before I decided upon the Rode Pod Mic. In it’s price range can’t be beaten. Quality build and quality sound.
The mic is nice it works I still don’t how to eq for my voice but it work fine. The only thing I have against it’s that when I got mine it had a dent at the top of the mic I don’t know if that was intentional but it works
I’m a Sure SM7B fan to be sure, I love em, but I didn’t have the $400 bucks. I did however have $99… I have a rather ambient noisy environment, computer fans, a big dog with big feet and big claws on concrete. This mic doesn’t hear any of it! Money well spent. Thanks RODE!
This is a fantastic microphone that will be my daily driver for all my audio recording needs. I use it mainly on spoken word, but it works well micing up a cabinet or recording acoustic guitar (IMO). A lot of people will make comparison videos, pitting it up against the Shure SM7B, but it’s not supposed to be a direct competitor or a clone– they have two different sound signatures and one isn’t better or worse than the other.
The PodMic–like almost any dynamic microphone–borderline NEEDS to be boosted. This means you will have to spend additional money buying a pre-amp. Now, you do NOT need to buy something expensive like a Cloudlifter, Fethead, or Dynamite; those are overpriced. Luckily, a cheaper option exists– the Klark Teknik CT1. It does the exact same thing, is built like a tank, and comes in at only only $46 CAD. You will not find it in-stock anywhere, BUT if you order it from Cosmo Music and are willing to wait a little while, they will order a unit for you directly from the Klark.
Speaking of being built like a tank, the PodMic would’ve probably put an end to the second World War (haha joke). It’s a heavy little sucker and has an all metal construction. I wouldn’t go running it over or pitting it up against the German army, but it is made from quality material and is well put together. It’s heavier than I was expecting, even knowing it’s weight, and I have reached the max capacity on my boom arm with my CT-1 attached. I’ll eventually have to get a stronger one, but for right now, I keep my PodMic low and hovering over my desk so if the arm fails when I’m not using it, it won’t have far to go.
The only downside to this microphone is not from the microphone itself, but rather what comes with it… which is nothing. Well, you do get a teeny booklet, but there’s no windscreen/popfilter, stand, or even XLR cable. I believe all microphones should at least come with a quality XLR cable. Yes, they aren’t very expensive, but with every product already being sold at a markup, I feel it’s only fair for one to be included. You already have to buy a signal booster, so it’s annoying to have the costs keep adding up on what should’ve been a great budget option.
Been recording for years. its a tank of a mic with clear sound. wont be disappointed.
This mic has very good sound quality in all places. The only thing to keep in your mind is places like discord use compression and different software that impact your mic quality. You will still sound good but it will not utilize all of its capabilities in certain software.
The very first thing you notice when you hold the box in your hand is: “Wow! This feels heavy.” And, then, when you do open the box, you know, it is heavy. This mic is built excellently. It feels like holding a hammer in the hand. And, therefore, be sure to mount it on a sturdy mic stand that can support its weight.
Now, about the user experience of having this mic. If you have a bit of understanding of using good recording software (I use AudioTonic, aka Audacity on my Windows 11 system) then, you will get the kind of result you listen to on premium podcasts. Yes, this mic is specifically and perfectly made for podcasting. Use a pop filter, keep it about 6 – 8 inches from your mouth and start recording. Keep in mind, that this is a dynamic cardioid mic and connects to your audio interface using an XLR cable. So, be sure, your cable is good and the connecting ports are free of dust.
It is simply a plug-and-play kind of device. For your benefit, I have uploaded a short audio recording using this mic. I have also enjoyed uploading a few of my recent recordings to my YouTube channel. This mic exceeds in quality the price Rode is asking for it. I can’t say for sure, but from what I understand after research, this could be a better purchase than some of the more expensive podcasting mics by Shure.
I have no hesitation recommending this microphone to you. It will bring pleasure to you, and to your listeners as well.
I purchased this mic for my partner, and continue to be impressed with its quality for the price. If you’re looking to get an absolutely solid mic to pair with a decent audio interface, this is what you should be looking at.
I bought another one after I heard my voice on the first one. Thumbs up!
I like this Mic so much I have 3 of them for my Podcast “the Ridgeline Hunting Podcast”
Fantastic mic for the money. Paired with a mic booster, sounds great for vocals and acoustic guitar.
As a streamer I’ve used many a microphone, from Blue Yeti, AT2020, various unknown brands and this is by far the best microphone thus far for it’s price range. Used in conjunction with a GOXLR Mini, I’ve been able to achieve the full richness that my voice projects without much need for adjustments.
best mic for a lot of things. price reasonable for how good it is.
Qualit ottima, pesante e solito, piaciuto tanto
I always used large diaphragm condenser microphones in my studio until I saw a video about this mic. I decided to give it a try and have not looked back since. It sounds as good as much more expensive condenser mics and it is more than sensitive enough too, although you do need a decent microphone pre-amp. Not needing power is a bonus, and there is no worry if you accidentally leave the phantom power on, it will not harm this mic. You do need a sturdy boom though for this, because this is a very sturdy mic. I use the Rode PSA1 and this is ideal for the purpose.
I use this microphone for live performances on YouTube and Zoom (original sound), and I am very pleased with the sound.
100% recomendado
Stand not included* Works better than expected for ongoing podcast.
The Rode Podmic sounds very tinny and I dislike it. Out of the box it doesn’t sound very well balanced, it sounds like a poorly tuned microphone.
EDIT: Alright so, I put pillows around my desk and a large desk mat on my desk. It now sounds a lot better, the tinny noises were coming from my walls. My walls would reflect my voice in a tinny fashion whenever I spoke, so putting something to absorb the sound helped ALOT
microphone audio quality is amazing 50db gang seems to be perfect picks up absolutely no background noise this is a dynamic microphone meaning you need to be close This Is How They are made but they isolate noise very well and sound incredible I paired it with a GO XLR I’ve had zero issues and do not need any kind of cloudlifter whatsoeve
Rode mic:
Build quality is amazing
It is a dynamic mic
Recomend a mixer and a boom arm that can support 1kg+ mic is heavy.
Amazing for podcast.
Vocal is clear dueing recordings.
make sure you have a good boom arm as the mic is a little heavy but overall its a great mic
Great mic to start but if you get to EQ it it just gets so much better. Worth every dollar I spent on it ($120 in Canada) if you’re looking to stream record gameplay or PODcast as the name of this mic is PODmic it’s amazing would recommend
. Che sensazione ragazzi un prodotto validissimo
I love the Rode Podmic. It is such an am amazing Microphone and it is built like a Tank. It sounds great as well. Small and very sturdy. You need an interface or a mixer with 48Volts to use this and cant just plug it in and think it will work as it is an XLR Mic. The three pin issue: stop giving it a bad review because of that as Rode Mics come with a longer pin. I have owned many ride Mics like Rode NT1A/Rode NT1 and all had a longer pin. At these prices the Podmic is a must have so get it guys.
I currently use it for my twitch and its been great I love it to make my vice sound good, no complaints hear recommend i
Well first of all the delivery was faster than Jimmy Johns. And the mic itself is solid, well built and sounds great!!
After far too much time researching microphones, I narrowed it down to the $129 PodMic from Rode and $529 RE20 from Electo-Voice – major price discrepancy, I know. The only reason why the RE20 was on my list was because I didn’t want to wonder what I “could get” out of a microphone.
Wow, am I happy that I bought the Rode PodMic as it saved me a lot of money and gives me audio far beyond my expectations.
I’m coming from the Blue Yeti Nano and while it was a fine microphone, the reliability via USB was awful. It would work fine for a few hours, then get completely garbled. I knew I wanted to move to an XLR system and bought the MOTU M2 to drive this microphone (Scarlett 2i2 was also a consideration).
What I like:
– Build quality is bizarrely amazing for the price! I’ve never held a microphone with this level of build quality.
– Excellent mounting system
– Sound quality with no post-processing is amazing!
– Looks beautiful!
– Performs far beyond my expectations given the price
What I don’t like:
– Nothing. Curiosity for the RE20 or SM7B will always be there, but I can only imagine the improvement would be minimal
Love this mic, my ONLY (nitpicking) complaint is that it’s too heavy for the Blue Compass Boom arm.
Consigliatissimo.
This is a great mic I have this paired with the focusrite scarlett solo going into voicemeeter on my pc and it sounds great I’m soft spoken so I had concerns with this being able to pick up my voice but it is no issue at all excellent produc
It’s not a bad mic but sense the whole screw for the mic to hook it up to a boom arm the mic will pick up some feedback on the the mic, like it’s made out of metal so it will pick up some feedback noise. Maybe if the screw was plastic it might not pick up nosies
I was considering the SM7B but balking at the price, considering I’m doing streaming and gaming as an amateur, but this sub 100 dollar mic is EXACTLY what I needed. It sounds PHENOMENAL and has upped my mic game considerably. It does NOT require phantom power, but pairs with the WAVE XLR just fine for me to have a great mic and easy streaming mixes. If you are on a budget, pick this mic up instead, you WON’T be disappointed. Pair it with a decent mount, because this will look very nice, and be sure to buy the foam windscreen for just under 10 bucks and it will look and sounds very professional.
This mic is so good I purchased 2 of them as you can see in the image. In each purchase you get 1 microphone factory sealed and boxed directly by Rode. They also QA test them before shipping at Rode. It has both pros and cons let me explain below:
Pros:
-the mis is very durable. Made completely of metal housing, this mic is heavy and sturdy and will not break easily
-great sound quality for a mic under 100
-built in pop filters (internal)
-built in shock mount (internal)
-can use phantom power via XLR
-QA tested and factory sealed before purchase
Cons:
-you don’t get an XLR cable included
-you don’t get boom arm or table stand included
-no on/off switch on the mic
Best quality mic I have used. Sounds great price point unbelievable. Grabbing more to set up a podcast studio. Don’t hesitate just get one. Competes with 400$ shure mics.
Absolutely love these microphones from Rode. Build quality feels really good and the sound is always spot on. All our team love using them. Amazon had them on at an incredible price (normal supplier in Germany was 23 more each at one stage) so I bought a few more than I actually needed to have a couple of spares in case of drops – unfortunately that does happen and as robust as they are, getting a hefty shock from height, just isn’t good. Just jumped on here to order some more before the price goes back up and thought I’d do the review. If you need a good quality standard microphone for a reporter or even a commentator (using the supplied “flag” as a lip mic type spacer works really well) you’d be pushed to find better or even similar at the price.
NOTE: There are a few UK suppliers with these at the same price right now, but being on Prime means free delivery so it makes the value that little bit better.
The microphone sounds terrific with the Podcaster Pro Mixer. It could be the filters on the mixer but the sound output has a nice low end and clear audio of what I would consider radio quality audio. Really love the output.
The pod has preformed great for me! However, it needs quite a bit of juice being the type of microphone it is. It sometimes can be hard to find the balance on a budget set up, but when you do it’s fantastic!
The sound quality is awesome! I run mine through a Goxlr, and it pretty much set itself up! I run it with the threshold all the way down and don’t even pay attention to the gate and it’s crisp and clear, even though rage yelling! It’s very well built with a vibration absorber built it. Get a good boom, because it’s built out of some heavy grade metal and has some weight to it!
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I purchased this, as I’ve never had anything this advanced. Immediately out of the box I was blown away with the quality and feel it had, overall superior packaging. I love it! Highly recommend for starter streamers or anyone who might want a stand-alone microphone(I paired mine with the Elgato Wave XLR).
First let me say that I’m not a huge audiofile. I’m an average consumer, but I’m also a streamer, and what I love about this dynamic mic is that it doesn’t pick up background noise, unless that noise is super loud! I live on a busy street, with big trucks that roll by all the time! This mic doesn’t pick that up! I also need to have a fan on me at all times, and it doesn’t pick that up either! All it picks up is my voice! And as a streamer that’s all I’ve ever needed from a mic. So if you’re just starting out, and hell even if you’ve been in the game for a while, I’d suggest this over paying upwards of $500 for that Shure SM7B. Yes that’s the top teir mic for anybody doing voice work, but what average Twitch/YouTube viewer is gonna notice? If you’re on the fence, just go for it. You can’t go wrong with this mic!
What can I say? Absolutely wonderful microphone for the price. I previously had the Blue Yeti and the PodMic blows it off the water! Considering both are in the $100 range I’d say these are far better than the Blue Yeti. My voice sounds clear, there are no major popping sounds when saying words with the “P” sound. If you want a microphone that doesn’t pick up background noise, these are it!
I use them to chat with friends while playing videos games and I’ve received various compliments of the quality of my voice that the microphone produces. No lie!
One thing to know, this microphone is on the quiet side. But considering that it’s XLR you should have no problem adjusting the dB with an XLR interface (an XLR interface is needed to be able to use this microphone). If your interface does not suffice, I’d suggest using VoiceMeter Banana and adjusting the dB through there. By the way, I am using the Behringer UM2 XLR interface and it is wonderful for the price.
Overall, great buy for the price.
Arrived on time and packaged well. Fantastic build quality the microphone is sturdy and heavy, do not hear any movements. Paired with the TC Helicon GoXLR it works amazing for sounds quality! The price compared to the Shure SM7B is out of this world and it works just as good. Overall satisfied with the purchase from the build of the mic to the price. Highly Recommended.
For $100 this mic goes a long way, sounding less muddy then the $400 Shure SM7B. I don’t use my SM7B anymore, and it’s been in its box ever since this little guy was properly EQ’d. Throw on a foam cover popfilter and it sounds amazing. If you want the muddy SM7B sound you can get it with EQ on this mic, but if you want the same deep profile with a less muddy sound, this is a highly capable mic that smashes the SM7B. Save your $300 for a quality stand, a mixer/interface, and a solid XLR cable. Highly recommend!
I bought this microphone for an Auxiliary recording studio and paired it with a DBX286S preamp/mic processor. I was pleasantly surprised with the sound, especially after it goes through further broadcast processing. There are differences between it and my very expensive studio mics, but especially after tweaking processing, most people wouldn’t detect a lot of difference. Add to that this mic is built like a tank, looks great, and is only $99, its a worthwhile investment.
wer dieses sich kauft sollte folgendes beachten:
Got this as my mic for pc gaming , using a mic arm attached to my desk it’s brilliant, sound quality is amazing , very well built . Quite heavy so I do Recommend you get a decent mic arm for i
This is a review of two halves. First my frustration and disappointment with these not working with my existing Zoom H1 and Zoom H1N recorders, which I use to record currently with a Rode lapel mic very well (which ends in 3.5mm plug – the input to the Zooms). They were really faint, I had to put the Zooms to max gain and then max out the audio in the editor just to get reasonable levels with all the horrible noise that ensued as a result of this.
After trying various XLR to 3.5mm cables I was told by a sound expert who patted me on the head that you can’t really just use an XLR to 3.5mm adapter and expect things to work. At the same time Rode’s customer service responded (and credit to them for answering me) and said the amps on the Zooms are not good enough.
I decided to bite the bullet and ordered two Tascam DR-10X XLR recorders to see if throwing more money at it would fix the issue (as I liked the size and build of these mics) and sure enough…. I am so pleased to say that a proper XLR recorder works a treat on these. In a way this has been a blessing in disguise, if the XLR to 3.5mm cable worked I would have had tethered/wired mics, now I have a truly portable solution.
The mics themselves, early days, but be aware these are omnidirectional (the reason I bought them, as I do want ambient sound). To give an example, if I walk and talk and go out of the back door you can then hear the water fountain in my pond, birds, aircraft etc (not loudly, but obviously there) which for me adds to the ambience. If you want to exclude this you’d need to look at other options.
The build quality is superb. Handling sounds are there if you shuffle around, but less so than when I had a cable attached (that picked up the cable rubbing against itself).
The audio level of these is lower than from my lapel mic, I have my Tascam set to “hi” gain and then in Final Cut need to run loudness boost and then up to about 3 to 5db, I think it’s a feature, looking at other comments.
Hope this helps, sorry for the alarmist review headline but I could find NOTHING at all on the net about Zooms not working with this mic and was about to return them, so hope I have saved someone else from doing so.
I wanted something to replace my Shure MV7 but didn’t want to pay the price for an SMB7.
I saw the Rde PodMic, the price was good and the reviews I came across on Amazon and YouTube were favourable so I took a punt. I am so glad I did!
The mic looks fantastic on my Elgato LP mic arm and connected up to my Wave XLR it sounds utterly flawless! I couldn’t of asked for more and the price was amazing!
