Good tool had to replace worn out one that I had for years , can’t do without it so versatile, reliable as the rest of their tools that I have brought.
Not as powerful as a corded tool, but good enough as a second tool with a wire wheel or cutting smaller/thinner metal. I use mine with generic 6ah batteries which run for ages.

Good grinder, I like Ryobi tools & this doesn’t let me down, slightly heavy but its perfect for what I need

Really struggled with hacksaws to take apart an old large rusted fruit cage and as I have a selection of Ryobi tools and batteries decided to get this model. Just make sure you have more than one battery, the most powerful type, as you’ll get through them at a fair old rate. Also choose the best quality discs and you’ll get the most out of this tool. Be careful on seating the discs and always keep the locking tool with you as I found that the occasional one would work loose when cutting. Overall did the job I wanted it to do and would recommend if you had jobs to do away from a suitable power source

A fabulous grinder may require a very powerful battery for heavy work but cannot complain about the machinery and how it works a very valuable product in anyone’s tools
I have had a battery powered grinder before from another brand and it was pants. The lack of torque just meant it bogged down almost immediately making it useless in practice. Honestly I wasn’t going to bother buying another cordless grinder but when I saw this on offer – and being a user of Ryobi tools – I gave in and tried again.
First off I will say that I have loads of Ryobi stuff going back ten years. I started buying their tools when they first changed to the lime green colour because they were well priced and did the job. Clearly made to that lower price nevertheless they proved to be very robust and the batteries utterly superb. I have spend ten solid years renovating a house including digging out under it and putting on another floor using Ryobi tools with little care at all. So far none have broken despite the abuse. And one battery I bought eight years ago has just carked it despite it having been charged hundreds and hundreds of times. Damned impressive.
Since those first two drill/drivers I bought made with hard shiny plastic Ryobi have steadily pushed the quality upwards. My latest drills are easily as good as the trade stuff like DeWalt and Milwaukee. In fact Ryobi and Milwaukee are owned and made by the same Hong Kong company, Techtronic Industries in their own facilities. And of course they have different internal parts. Not…
Of course a couple of things to note with the increased quality. The weight has gone up as well as the price.
Anyway, this tool is super well made, has high quality materials in its case and is easy to hold given the handle design. The overmoulded rubber grips are very good indeed and the side handle can be mounted on either side for lefties or righties. It’s vibration isolating as well.
However I have a couple of things to note. Firstly my day job is a marine Chief Engineer and as such using metal working tools specifically grinders is a daily thing on a ship. Welders will also know this but the handle which is always supplied is never used by ‘professionals’ – ever. Not once in any shipyard or welding shop have I seen a small grinder with a handle fitted. Same on a ship. They are just annoying and get in the way.
The other thing is that the power switch is a ‘dead-man’ one. In other words you have to keep it depressed to keep the grinder going which, is a pain. If you are using a grinder in the perfect position as shown in the advertising bumph where it’s at bench height and you are pressing down then fine. However, these sized grinders are used for working in all sorts of positions and that means you might have to move your hands away from the switch. That’s why most grinders don’t have a dead man but instead a locked on power switch. This grinder being battery type is, one would have thought even more likely to be used for convenience of location thus the hold on switch even more irritating.
Bottom line is that if I’d known the switch could not be locked in place I’d probably not have bought it despite it’s other qualities.
Putting that aside in use this is excellent. It didn’t bog down at all and the battery I used 4Ahr lasted well and provided plenty of power.
It is a bit larger than a mains unit but is well balanced and the handle part being slimmer makes it easy to hold.
Overall this would have been a winner had it not been for the dead man switch.
Not the best I’ve battery angle grinner ever used but I’m impressed for the money many problem is slightly low ish on power but definitely will get there just a bit slower than more expensive one’s
Bargain buy especially with the free tool offer ryobi had. Ryobi for the win, never a let dow
Very powerful tool with good battery life (I’d get a 5Ah battery) and it’s easy to change discs. Get some thin, metal-cutting discs, some fatter grinding discs and a small buzzsaw disc for wood.
1st off, this is a battery grinder,i dont expect it to work anywhere near as hard as a corded one so i treat it as such, great when i’m out on a job miles away from a power supply,it does go through battery juice but i dont mind if it saves me getting a hacksaw out.
Very powerful for its size and works well under pressure. However battery does deplete rather fast when you do a lot of work with it.
Great grinder, I’m using the 5ah batteries and seems to last a while and has enough grunt to manage most things

My first ryobi one+ tool. Seems very good quality. Havent used it much yet but feels well balanced in the hands, stable, plenty of power, cant complain. Also got a drill which was free as a gift when buing a starter kit so pleased with that too.
For a relatively inexpensive battery powered grinder this tool really works well.
Brilliant got on sale so even better great kit bought husband as a gift he loves i
Just got it. Good bit of kit compatible with all my other ryobi tools. No cables so can be used anywhere.
Love them. Been looking around .great price . Fast delivery. Thanks Amazon.
definitely worth the money with such a large battery. easy to use and quite powerful
I use this power tool almost every day well worth the experience
I was attracted to this by one of the regular emails from Amazon which, if I’m honest, often get ignored.
Buying it as a set gives a very substantial saving over buying the component parts separately. If looking at alternatives make sure that they include a battery and charger, potentially 80 if you buy them separately. I like the concept of the 18V ONE + because, if travelling, you can share batteries between tools of the same range, giving flexibility and saving weight and space.
It seems to be a quality product, easy to use and with minimal vibration unlike some grinders whose vibrations make them unpleasant to use. While ear protection is recommended, it seems quieter than many others. The charger gives clear battery status and a reasonably short recharge time
For a cordless tool it has a decent endurance but the battery life is finite , as on all cordless tools, so my next purchase will be the 5Ah battery, although the price of a 5Ah battery is nearly as much as the complete set!
This tool probably paid for itself the first time I used it. As other reviews have mentioned, consider battery size if you’re buying a bare one, low capacity batteries are very limited in this tool, that’s why I bought the one with a 4Ah battery
good solid tool and good quality unit, battery life depends on the job but add few extra batteries like i have and you have back-up really pleased with this product.
I use this for work & at home , great little tool , good for cutting & trimming steel to size for the smaller jobs that need more precisio

Like 4ah battery ,charger ( compact) , bag and grinder for just over 100 The battery alone is 65plus good value for money wish they did more deal like this . I have a few ryobi tools the 4ah battery will run the fan all night .Two of the battery’s I have are more than 10 years old and still work
Bought this to do some home diy and it’s Excellent.
Works well. Easy fast and convenient to use. .. no setting up and plugging in cables for what is maybe just a quick small job

Love this product, makes cutting and grinding more versatile..
Battery life can be an issue if you don’t use a 4 or 5ma battery..
Only used it for a while but it seems a nice piece of kit.
Excellent piece of kit, used for steel aluminium and masonry, well balanced with bigger 4ah battery, comfy to use.Solid and well built.
Having been used to a cable angle grinder, the only question I ask myself is why didn’t I get one before?

Great grinder, well pleased with this product, well built, easy to use
This grinder is very easy to use and is very sturdy. It’s light when no battery attached.
This is a good edition to the Ryobi +range and is a very useful cutting tool when you add the right blades, my only comment would be it needs a bit more speed, it labours a bit when you put pressure on the cutter. Also the tool supplied for changing blades isn’t very stable it’s a bit cheap and hard on the hands.
My 30 year old corded angle grinder has finally died, and having bought into the Ryobi System, thought I’d try the angle grinder.
It is a heavy piece of kit, and adding a 4ah battery makes it even heavier. It was noticably less able to cut rebar than my old B&D corded one, and given I don’t need cordless I decided to return it and get a cheaper corded one – in fact i could get two – one for grinding, one for cutting, for almost the same money.
A perfectly acceptable tool if you need cordless and have the Ryobi batteries already, but not quite the power ( and much heavier) than corded. If it’s your first battery tool, I would recommend having a look at Bosch/Makita etc before making a decisio

It’s a great work horse but you got to get the battery bigger the beter to accomplish any large job you may do

I use good batteries and never had a problem with lasting out on job now added to my collection of Ryobi.

I’m using 1.3Ah battery ( all I have at the moment) and it did shut down cutting through the thin steel pipe couple of times (especially putting little strength to the grinder)- I’m not sure if it is some sort of safety feature, lack of power or simply too small Ah battery ( recommended battery for this tool is 4Ah ) Thought *Ah is related to how long battery last, but can be the factor of how much power grinder drains per cut? Not sure.. Feels solid tool tho, resting in the car boot, no more clamping down tickets for me 🙂 Just kidding ..

I have thr drill and the hoover, for years I wanted a battery grinder and I am not dissapointed, the small batteries dont last very long for prolonged grinding but the 4ah battery gives a considerable extention to battery life, however I have three batteries so battery life is not an issue,
This tool is just so handy for working out the back of a van going to customers and needing to cut siezed bolts without having to drag leads all over the place
Looks a good piece of kit not tried it yet as is a present will tell ye late
So easy to use no worries about cables getting in the way.
I was a bit skeptical that I really needed this tool, should I or shouldn’t I get one, but then I thought hey it’s Christmas. 🙂 This little angle grinder is best suited with the 5ah batteries which give it the full power it likes. With a 1 mm wide cutting disk on it, it cuts through rebar no problems and is also good with a sanding disk. One other use i get out of it is with a small TCT cutting blade it helps trim those thicker branches in the hedge. It obviously doesn’t have the RPMs of a mains angle grinder but in some ways that makes it more controllable and less aggressive, in any case I’ve been using it for nearly a year and have found it to be reliable and a handy tool to have.

i have other Ryobi power product’s have not failed me so far very robust product and batteries life is very good ..
Love this, great addition to my Ryobi one+ range, typical Ryobi quality
My wired angle grinder died and I already had a couple of Ryobi ONE+ products, so seeing that the reviews on this were good, I bought one. It seems just as powerful as my old Metabo wired grinder but has the convenience of no lead. I’m only a hobbyist, so battery charge life isn’t an issue for me. It lasts plenty long enough for my needs.
This is a great tool! Very well made and easy to use. AND no cords!
Arrived the next day as it said.
My husband loved it .
Replacement for an old workhorse that only gave up the ghost as it was dropped from a height onto a hard surface.
Usual Ryobi build quality. Performs well using official 5ah battery. One niggle is would of liked the handle to store the disc release tool. I know it can be kept in bag but would have been a nice touch. Overall pleased with the purchase
Superb and powerful tool, should have bought one years ago.
Great product and now a part of my growing Ryobi One+ toolkit I have several 4 and 5 AH batteries and now no job that this can’t handle.
I have several other Ryobi power tools and when my corded angle grinder finally landed in the recycling bin this seemed a natural choice as a replacement. Although this was a more expensive option than buying a corded replacement from the DIY store I have the 18+ batteries so decided to give it a go. Personally I find this better balanced and easier to use than a corded version, and can of course be used anywhere. The motor weight seems to be counter-balanced by the battery which works well for me; I’m using the larger 4ahr battery’s which give longer life but it’s early days and time will tell how this works out in the long term.

There is nothing that I dislike about this product. I bought it for a particular job. I had a gate to fit in the middle of no where. Knowing that I would have to alter the heavy duty iron gate furniture I was using. The grinder didn’t disappoint. Using a 5ah battery generic not Ryobi. Cut though the hinges and bolts a treat using slitting discs. Can’t give details of run time as the work was done so quickly all I can say just so glad I had it to hand. Made the whole job that much easier and better looking. This wasn’t a heavy work load job. But having this tool to hand made all the difference.
Always happy with my One+ tools, this angle grinder makes life so much easier when working in confined areas. Now if they made a mini version I’d be even happier.
Love this, great addition to my Ryobi one+ range, typical Ryobi quality, NB you need a decent sized battery, i used initially with a 1.5 battery I had and didn’t last long (cut about half a slab), bought a 5 battery and much better.
Present for hubby so I’m sure he will be pleased with the purchase
Neat tool. I already have selection of Ryobi one plus tools & a couple of 2.5ah batteries. The grinder seems reasonably powerful, good for small jobs away from mains power source. I used it to cut through the tongue of a deadlock with thin disc coped well.
Useful for remote no power areas good running time on 5ah battery too
Done everything I have asked of it so far….Don’t buy cheap disks!
My husband loved this added addition to his Ryobi collection.
Brilliant for me for cutting the odd slab or brick chasing some mortar from brick work or cutting through copper pipes nails ECT. Obviously don’t expect to get the same power as a mains but if you pair it with a 5amp battery and a decent disk Bosch multipurpose diamond and it’s a beast. Got plenty of batteries and other ryobi tools so runtime not an issue for me.
Frustrating good machine, bought it because I had one drills and so the battery fitted but the grinder ran the batteries down very quickly.bought a bigger battery and this lasted longer. I would recommend for small jobs but if you have a lot of work get the mains version.
Best coupled with a 5ah battery to get the best out of it, it isn’t as powerful as a mains operated grinder so don’t buy it expecting it. Does a respectable job cutting through bolts and ball joints on those seized car jobs.
Very nice need bigger battery but is good dosnt come with battery but need bigger than 2ah.

I’m new to Ryobi, but their kit appears to be well designed and well made. Comes with clear instructions, solid, easily recycled packaging and even a free grinding disc to get you started.
I used the 5ah battery, and was surprised at just how good (and handy) a cordless angle grider is. First job was to cut the tops of fire extinguishers which it did with ease – remember to clamp the material down though!
Would I buy more Ryobi kit? Certainly, if it’s as well designed and well made at the angle grinder.
Remember this unit comes without a battery! I can recommend the 5ah battery and charger ( Ryobi RB18L50 ONE+ 5.0 Ah Lithium Battery

A good solid but light use anywhere angle grinder .Ideal for grinding and cutting metal and for cutting chases in masonry to receive lead flashing ( with the correct blade in !)
I had the older model of the grinder and it was getting a little old and weak. As I have a lot of the Ryobi one+ system it was a simple choice and so much cheaper than the more regarded brands. Anyway only used it a couple of times so far but absolutely impressed with it. I use the 4amp batteries and it lasts more than long enough for the small jobs an electrician does. I cut a couple of small plates out of 4mm steel today and it was a breeze Time will tell how long it lasts and if the performance keeps up but so far really pleased and very surprised how much better than the old model it actually is. The only thing I would criticise it for is that it no longer comes with the key built into the handle for removing the disc’s. I thought that was a really neat idea on the old model. Luckily though I still have mine off the old grinder and it fits on the new one. For small jobs having a battery grinder can save so much hassle. I had to take some lights down using a cherry picker once and the bolts were seized on my battery grinder might the job simple so well worth having one .

Very powerful tool for a battery powered item. Have used it in anger many times now and can’t fault it !!
a bit frightening to read all the details, also it’s not made clear as to what replacement discs are correct.
have used no good for heavy grinding cut out when using heavy pressure
Not really used in anger yet – but good quality and not too heavy
Great tool ! obviously not quite as powerful as a corded model but very handy nontheless.
Great if you need to use it one handed as well.
I was apprehensive that an 18 volt battery could drive an Angle Grinder with any degree of stamina and endurance. The Ryobi R18AG-O 18v One plus fitted with an 18v 4.0 Ah Li-Ion thick pack battery soon removed any reservations I might have had on that score and I need not have worried.
The Ryobi performed like a dream. Metal cutting,Grinding & paint scraping with a wire brush, were absolutely no problem. I particularly like the Auxillary Side Handle which is attached to the Body of the Grinder in 3 alternative positions, namely 3 o`clock, 12 o`clock and 9 o`clock.. The safety guard is easily removed and replaced. Comes supplied with a wrench for removal/attaching discs/brushes etc. The overall length of the Angle Grinder, without a battery fitted, is 330mm/13″. Fitted with a 4.0Ah Battery, Auxillary Side Handle and a Standard 115mm Grinding Wheel, the unit weighs in at 5lb 14ozs (2660 grams)
I would recommend the 4.0 Ah Battery for its durability when using it with the Angle Grinder as opposed to batteries of lower capacities. When you consider that the motor in the Ryobi Angle Grinder delivers 7,500 RPM, the 4.0 Ah battery is the way to go with this particular Tool from the Ryobi range. Impressive.

better power than expected cuts through no problem ! good not having to get an extentoin lead out for a couple of cutss
This is great for jobs with no easy mains access. It is surprisingly powerful, and I have used it for about 10 to 15 mins cutting steel on one battery. Suggest the 4.0ah battery is vital though which takes a long time to re charge so the more batteries the better for extended use.
Really pleased with the grinder. Nice and comfortable to hold and a great part of the Ryobi set. Nice 2 trigger action to prevent accidentally starting.
