Cordless vacuum cleaners are never going to be as powerful as one that runs off of the mains, having had several Dysons, my last being a V10, I knew what to expect as the status quo for battery powered vacuum cleaners. My Dyson, however, was an expensive (500 in 2019) piece of junk which lasted less than 4 years, and that is with several major fixes to the waste bin, roller brush, and trigger…safe to say I was not impressed overall, the motor/power/suction was good but that’s where it ended. So what to replace it with, these things are all so expensive. I liked the Miele Triflex but it looked a bit faffy to empty, and again expensive at circa 600 upwards depending on model Enter the Samsung: a far cheaper (I paid 260 for the Jet 70, which had all the accessories the Dyson had, and more than the Miele) yet a far higher quality product overall, it feels less plasticity/cheap overall, is far quieter in operation, seemingly lighter to use or at least feels that way compared to the Dyson V10, and picks up dust and dirt way better. Perhaps not as powerful on paper but the roller brush is a way better design which makes up for this. Overall this just looks and feels like a more premium, polished product, and I cannot recommend it enough. Ah but you may think the Dyson V11 and V15 are better and things have moved on, well, no not really, at the end of the day the primary function is to collect dust and dirt, and overall this is a far more compelling value proposition than the Dyson and Miele. Oh and the Samsung is made in Vietnam for anyone who cares. :). Grab a bargain compared to the competition, you won’t be disappointed, and I didn’t think I’d be so excited about a battery powered vacuum cleaner, certainly not so much that I’d review one here, but there you go!
Light, powerful, plenty of power adjustment and useful accessories. Cost of spare battery high.
Lightweight. Battery gives about 30 minutes on medium power setting. Had no problems do far. Happy.
Arrived on time, well packed. Instructions could be better. I would like to know where I can get a spare battery!
Our Dyson’s filters choked up and the machine was pulsing and switching off.
We followed the instructions on cleaning filters over and over – unsuccessfully. Then saw the video saying you need an engineer for the last internal filters. Enough!
We went through the Which? reviews for a replacement, and this one stood out. Very similar (very similar) but every niggle we had with Dyson designed out, and far better built with better materials. The connectors for the attachments are far better, more robust, easier for older fingers to use.
Suction? Brilliant, it cleans everything exactly as we want.
Attachments? Our floors are mostly wood – perfect powered head for that. The carpets? Perfect powered head for that. Leather suite, beds? Again, great attachment for those. So all our cleaning handled fine.
The power control is very simple, easy to use and hard to misuse. Does our whole house on one charge, though I’m sure if we used turbo it would be close. Charges on the supplied wall mount.
Emptying? Really clever, well thought through. A large dust tank needs emptying far less often, and though it’s a bit of a trick to do the first time, it doesn’t risk dumping dust in the air as the previous machine did.
Overall – for us, a real improvement, robust, very easy to use, a good investment so far.
Seems very lightweight compared to my old Dyson. Good range of accessories for different floor types. Good suction. Battery life prob struggles with claimed 45mins (when using standard power anyway) but find it enough to cover quite a bit of ground and is much quicker than an old corded Dyson. Really pleased with quality and would certainly recommend.
Bought the Samsung jet 70 to replace my dyson who died after at 7 years. Love dyson but prices are through the roof so thought I give something else a try and Samsung as usual does not disappoint. It’s super light weight and very sleek design. Not to loud and really easy to manoeuvre around which is great. It has three different levels of suction power which is ideal for mixed flooring in different rooms. Easy to assemble and comes with multiple extra brushes. Really happy and super quality for the price and just as good as a dyson.
Battery life not as good as I’d hoped especially on higher power for short bursts. Nice and lightweight which I need with my disability
Overall a good purchase
Moving house meant I needed a vaccum that lasted longer than a few minutes. It wasn’t until we started using this that I realised how naff the old wireless one we owned was. This product makes vacuuming fun hopefully it stays that way. Used on tile, laminate and carpet with no problems, great suction all-round very impressed.
I am very pleased to choose samsung free standing cordless hoover after a lot of browsing and reviews read , almost all perfect on this one of what I was looking for.
The Suction powerful enough.
Battery last longer on low to mid settings.
Quiet enough.
Stylish and slim design which I am also after.
Very happy :))
Can’t fault the machine at all, great piece of kit. Had been looking at a Dyson 8 but all the reviews and my own going into the ships and looking at it pointed me towards the Samsung.
Only reason for 4 stars is I have a month waiting for it and took 3 calls to Amazon to finally get it delivered
Amazing suction and also the amount of tools that come with it is great. Why spend a fortune on a Dyson when this Samsung is easily as good if not better for way less money. No anti hair wrap but I’m bald so I don’t care.
Really impressed with this vacuum. It looks stylish, it is well made particularly the tools. It also works very well indeed. The battery life could be longer but I am able to do everything I need without it running out of juice,so for me it is just fine. I like the on/off button rather than the trigger on my previous Dyson. It is also more convenient to change the power levels. For the price I don’t think you could get better.
It’s quite powerful ok. But just wanted to less noisy motorized tools. Otherwise it’s good hoover… Expacially it cleaned my cats furr from the carpet very well and easy. I’m also using the small tool which is great for upholstery cleaning…
Very good so far, the brush roller does not clog up with hair as did the previous Dyson. Suction power seems good but battery life not as good as advertised, on Med (medium) I only get about 25 minutes out of it and as it doesn’t have a trigger it runs all the time until you turn it off. I’ve found that it works better on my hard floors and carpets if it’s run on low power and it actually gets dog hair off the soft furnishings better on that setting, as a result the battery lasts much longer.
Im really pleased with this vacuum, it replaces an 8 year old corded dyson which still works ok, i have since given the dyson to my neighbour.
This is more practical to get in the corners and has a wide range of attachments. I can now clean the car easily.
The battery dosent last that long if you use a motorised attachment on full power. I have found that mid power still gets all the dirt up and max is incredible but will drain the battery fast.
Im able to clean my 3 bedroom semi on one charge so I’m happy.
Very well made vacuum which is very effective on both hard floors and carpet. Battery life seems good on medium setting, and the high setting has been useful when cleaning along skirts, etc. Not found a use for the low setting so far.
Dropped one star because the emptying is much less streamlined than the previous Dyson.
I was happy with the Dyson but when the battery gave up, decided it did not make sense to replace the battery. The Samsung offers better value than the current Dyson range, and so I am happy with the compromise with emptying.
Ideal for cleaning, carpet, hard floor, upholstered and furniture surfaces in quick time. Whether debris light to moderate – my advice is consulting the product manual for absolute guidance – the thumb touch-button control, which is set into the handle, enables good responses for switching between different debris constituents. I haven’t yet used the cleaner on my car, but I’m confident of the benefits it can offer. I bought the appliance after my 30 year old Electrolux Hoover finally fell into disrepair. The Samsung, quiet by comparison, is worthy of consideration for your purchase!
I have had this Samsung cordless vacuum for a week now and it is certainly impressive. Having replaced a second Dyson after 4 years, I wanted to try another model at substantially less cost and decided on the Samsung.
As a Which? Subscriber, I get to see which models are so called best buys and this one is a Best Buy. Though Dyson scores more in the Which? Test (slightly) I for one don’t want to part with 800 plus for a vacuum. I expect so much more for that price and I know I won’t get it with Dyson.
The Samsung has advantages over the Dyson, not just about cost. No more holding that trigger, no more having to charge the whole unit, you just charge the detachable battery. Everything seems to have been well thought out. I rate Samsung highly as a brand, eg, my mother has had an American fridge freezer for 20 years now still going strong and their QLED TVs are amazing.
I am glad I tried the Samsung, the reviews here and the expert reviews on Which? Back this up. If I were Dyson, I would be worried at the Koreans taking over. I found no difference in the ability to clean and liked the fact I can take out empty and wash the dirt container.
This will not replace my corded cyclone vacuum cleaner as it cannot suck up heavier bits from the floor or things stuck into car boot lining , etc. But it is good for dusting surfaces like on furniture or staircases.
But the design is good, it is lightweight and comes with a useful complement of attachments.
Light to handle and easy to manoeuvre. Gets underneath things easily. No cord to get tangled in and battery is easy to charge. Can do stairs with same brush head so so far so good.
Very pleased with the Samsung Jet 70 Complete. Good quality. Easy to disassemble, empty dust canister, and clean. Filters easy to wash and dry. It’s stylish and lightweight. Very quiet. Very easy to use. Multi-directional brush heads, glide around furniture. Dust canister holds quite a bit (doesn’t need to be emptied half way through cleaning). Battery charged in just over 2hr, and charge lasted 40min. Easy to use as a hand-held. Scrubber brush attachment works well with the vacuum. Replacement battery available from eBay at a cost of about 85 (direct from China), or from Samsung (UK), for about 149. No problems at all with it so far.
Very light weight but need to change the head for different surfaces so a little be faffy. Also has to be on the wall to charge due to the way you have to balance in the cradle to charge.
It’s easy to use, lightweight but powerful. Easy to clean out without any fuss. Value is great compared to other brands. I like the fact when emptied, you don’t get a puff of dust when you use it again. I’ve had the machine for 2-3months and I’m really pleased with it. Battery lasts a good length of time too. I keep on the midi setting and it vacuums very well on this setting.
Has this one day and already really liking it. Reason for 4 stars is didn’t do great job with vacuuming car.
Around the house it feels light but solid. Great manoeuvrability and picks up everything you’d expect it to.
All attachments click into place easily with the feel of quality. Much more so than my Dyson v10.
Really like this and happy with purchase.
Amazing value, great cleaning on carpets and hard floor, long charge time and easy to empty.
I charge it one a week and so easy to keep on top of day to day dirt. Simply delighted!
Looking modern, it come with 3 extra floor heads .
Able to hover 2bed house on the one charge with medium power.
On high power mode has very strong suction on the carpet, but drain battery like creazy.
Happy with the price for quality product.
Really good cordless vacuum, light weight, easy to set up. Looks really smart. Battery last well on ‘mid’ setting, not so good on ‘high’ but its a cordless vacuum, so battery life is never going to be a amazing. So far so good! Would recommend.
Purchased this model to replace a Dyson that had an intermittent fault. The difference is amazing, the whole feel of the materials used, the ergonomics and the performance are superior, a pleasure to use.
