Simple low cost product that gives blunt blades a new lease of life
It took a bit of setting up but once I got the hang of it I had all my old blades sharpened in no time.
I would suggest that before sharpening any blades you should clean the blade as best you can and look closely at the set of the teeth marking which ones to grind at that particular angle.
Only time will tell if I recoup the cost of my purchase.
Bought to sharpen my table saw, two mitre saws and various hand held electric saws. Takes only a short time to set up the machine to accurately sharpen the circular saw blades. I have sharpened several tipped blades now which are all cutting like new.this is worth the money if you use a lot of machinery.
It does exactly what it says on the box! What more could we ask?
This product is value for money as I was quoted 33pence a tooth to be sharpened. No brainer.
Hi, this sealey saw sharper in not the best quality, it’s a bit flimsy, ( sealer were really good quality) it would not stand a lot of rough use/ storage, thumb screws/ wing nuts could have been user for adjustments rather than Allen keys & spanner’s, the spanners were not a good fit on the nuts, but having said the above, (& made changes)I have sharpened 6 TCT blades without to much trouble once set up.
I will only use this occasionally, so it should last me quite a while!
( I was using a home made saw sharpener, this is better than that)
Hope the above helps!
I’ve saved on buying new saws by sharpening my ow
Works well although you need to take time in setting it up. Pays for itself after a couple of sharpens.
Well it took a while to get set up but not too hard.you just need to think about it.seems to do the sharpening ok.i have done about six blades so far.new blades would have cost more and I can re sharpen when the shop is shu
It’s perfect for my work as I use quite a few blades and getting them sharpened is expensive
A bit fiddly but does a good job with a bit of practice
Very good sharmener it’s take time for fist set up then soon as you got set up then all you saws blades become better than brand new
it takes a long time to set up correctly and you have to do it with every blade. It sharpens all my different type of blades very well. If you have the patience its a great tool to have
He said he found it fiddly to set up but easy to use. Very happy with results.
Work perfectly, already saving money on sharpening my blades by my self
because I don’t see them lasting very long. On the hole it does what it does but it takes time and patience.
Great product and saving me money already on the blades i have sharpened, check YouTube for some clues how best to use this to get the best out of i
I bought Saw table and I did a lot of cutting of a very dense hard wood, which made the blade very dull, I bought a new blade, and I was going to throw the old blade away, but decided to keep it just to cut rough wood like ply, MDF, when I bought the saw blade sharpener I tried it out on the old blade to see how good it would be, I was very pleased, once sharpened I cut a piece of 70mm soft wood, and it cut it like a knife though butter, I’m pleased I never threw the old blade away, as now I have two sharp blades, I recommend this machine, took a while to set up, but that’s because it was new to me, once set up sharpened the blades in minutes.
a bit fiddle to set up but great value for the money.Works well.
brought for hubby.
Was shocked at how easy it was to set up after the other reviews.
Was super easy to use
He has already used it for a few blades does take time to sharpen the blades but it well worth it as it has already paid for itself in sharpening a couple of blunt blades. the blades are super expensive so this will save so much money for us, as a small business it will make loads of difference to our outlays.
Not to loud either when in use.
compact item so doesnt take up to much space which is good
Thinks that it is great after initally thinking (at this price) it might not sharpen blades good enough.
This little sharpener requires adaptibility. It also requires someone who is willing to give it a chance and adjust on the possibly sloppy factory assembly of parts before operating.
Advice. unbolt and get rid of the tensioner boom and sprung arm. It interferes with the job.
Mount the machine on a workmate for more flexibility and clamp into position. UNPLUG the machine.
Turn the workmate round so you can point a good spotlight into the place where saw tooth and diamond disc will meet.
Fasten the blade onto the appropriate place. I tightened the knurled hand nut right down against the spring, making sure that it was all level and equally spaced.
Swing the saw blade and adjust it so that when the machine body handle is raised in order to pull the diamond disc into position, the diamond disc jutts into the space between the teeth but will not hit the bottom of the gap and cut into the saw blade.
Be sure to loosen the grubscrew on the supporting pillar and ease the pillar up so it rests against the underside of the saw blade.
It’s not rocket science.
Now turn the saw blade and adjust the arm on its pivot until the tooth angle is correct when resting on the side of the disc. Get this exactly right. The spotlight helps a lot.
Tighten the blade holder pivot arm nuts etc. so it is firm and will not ‘wander’ . Time spent on this is not wasted. Re- check how the blade and disc will contact. Your cutting efficiency and blade life epend upon this.
Goggles and gloves, pull the grinding shield down to horizontal, and start up.
Pull the machine handle up so the disc is rotating within the saw gap, gently rotate the saw blade clockwise until the front face of the tooth is ground and no signs of old surface left.
A few seconds is enough – pull back the machine handle and check – if there’s still an old dirty surface left on the face of the TCT tooth – grind a little bit more. Check again and mark the tooth with a felt-tip pen.
Turn your saw blade so the next gap is centred with the retracted diamond disc, pull up the machine handle and repeat the process.
Why bother at all ? For me it’s over 90 miles to the other side of the country where the expensive tool stores live. On a website, often 18 in postage charged by some firms because of our postcode – so a 14 cheap blade is a bit of a joke.
This machine is not high-tech and will not adjust various ground edges on the tooth sides, but it will sharpen your blades and keep you working instead of biting your nails.
‘Wish it was 50 though.
Great product! I used it to sharpen my festoolsaw blade easy and accurate! Fantastic bit of kit.
