Good flat frequency response. Just had to add a little bass boost in the MP3 app to get the depth of kick drum I like to go with transparency everywhere else. Telephone callers report good audio from the mics. Noise cancellation works best on steady audio noises like whine from motors. Reduces but not completely eliminates annoying on train announcements. Cancellation effectiveness also depends on the angle of the noise source to the headset. I prefer the good audio quality so roll with these cans that are noise reducing rather than noise cancelling.
Great headphones. Don’t buy if you like tonnes of bass. Im used to Bose QC25 headphones. These reveal more detail, with slightly less punchy bass. Recordings with lots of uncontrolled high end can sometimes sound harsh. This getting better with burn in. Wide sound stage. Im enjoying them
Sound quality is excellent for the price and best among the competition. The autoplay and pause is kind of buggy that it will pause music if your head position is changed especially when you bend down and all.So it won’t be a better music experience using autoplay and pause being activated. If it was not for this i would have given a 5 star.
I have tried Sony-1000XM4 before, but it caused a lot of headache due to it’s strong ANC which was infact felt my many of it’s users. So had to return those.
I own a Sennheiser HD 4.50BT and was looking for an upgrade after 5 years. Even though the Sony’s ANC is strong, the sound quality is decent, Huge bass, and there is incredible details(due to LDAC), it wasn’t sounding as good as I had expected from the most premium headphones.
Sennheiser is the one which gives more details to all levels of sound with good amount to details and a decent noise cancelling without causing headache. The only problem is it doesn’t support type-C charging, but not a huge problem since a single charge gets you enough days.
Sound is good, not amazing but more than adequate. Good bass response. The noise cancellation is not fantastic, but on the upside you are aware of your local surroundings. Worth a punt for the price

Aun les estoy empezando a sacar chicha a su uso, pero de momento puedo decir que son muy ligeros, y son bastante ergonmicos y cmodos para las orejas. Lo nico que me preocupa es la resistencia de las orejeras y la almohadilla de la cabeza que son en cuero/polipiel. Damit wre die Katze quasi auch schon aus dem Sack. Der Sennheiser PXC 550-II Wireless Kopfhrer hat mich voll und ganz gerockt. Ein bisschen Manverkritik gibt es dennoch, wer also Interesse an einem guten Over-Ear-Kopfhrer hat, darf gerne weiterlesen!
Fangen wir unkonventionell von hinten nach vorne an.
Der Klang und das erste Soundding des Sennheiser PXC 550-II Wireless Kopfhrer:
Um mich zu beeindrucken, muss ein Kopfhrer mich klanglich ein Stck weit mitnehmen. Er darf betont Mittenlastig” und auch gerne mal etwas protzig” daherkommen. Was er allerdings nicht darf, ist hierbei verwaschen und zu dominant klingen. Fr meinen persnlichen Geschmack haben Sennheiser das hier beim PXC 550-II ausgesprochen gut hinbekommen.
Die Over Ears setzen klanglich genau da an, wo Marshall und Co aufhren. Sie bieten neben dem vorgenannten Mittenspektakel” einen gedeckt agierenden und nicht zu dominanten Bass. Hier macht es Spa auch mal ordentlich aufzudrehen und sich einfach ein Stck weit gehen zu lassen.
Klanglich keine Spur von Alternativlosigkeiten, denn hier bietet der PXC 550-II auch noch sehr passable Hhen, welche dem Kopfhrer ein extrem groes Abspielspektrum garantieren und klanglich in der Preisklasse voll und ganz berzeugen knnen.
Neutral ist da ein groes Wort, groe Bhne ist fr jeden sowieso etwas anderes und so subtil wie die persnlichen Vorlieben, wenn es darum geht, ob man lieber Pils, Alt oder Klsch bevorzugt. Hier stimmt fr mich persnlich einfach alles!
Vokals, Rock, Hard Rock, Metall, Jazz, Folk bis hin zu Klassik bedient Sennheiser hier ganz geschmeidig. Ein wenig Spiel nach oben wre da sicherlich noch gewesen, aber ganz ehrlich, mich hat es voll und ganz gepackt!
Von daher klanglich von mir eine glatte 5 Sterne Punktlandung!
Die Geruschunterdrckung des Kopfhrers:
Hier ist man durch beyerdynamic, SONY und nicht zuletzt BOSE (Stichwort QC 35 II) ja einiges gewhnt. Sennheisers Strken lagen in der Vergangenheit eher nicht im Hybridbereich.
Der Mikrokosmos der modernen ANC-Kopfhrer ist da bereits fest aufgestellt. Sennheiser agiert hier hnlich wie Harman Kardon (JBL) oder Bowers&Wilkens mit einer wirklich exzellenten adaptiven Geruschreduzierung, welche Hintergrundgerusche hinter sich lassen. Platt ausgedrckt arrangieren sich die Kopfhrer sich mit ihrem Umfeld.
Dies funktioniert erfreulich gut, egal ob im Bro, unterwegs oder einfach auf der heimischen Couch.
Dass man hier die Hausaufgaben tatschlich gut gemacht hat, kann man ganz einfach ausprobieren.
Hierzu die Kopfhrer drauen bei Wind aufsetzen und, sofern man brav sein Firmwareupdate installiert hat, wird man staunen wie gut der Kopfhrer mit dem wohl schwierigsten Nebengerusch-Szenario klarkommt.
Sennheiser hlt hier sein Versprechen: Die adaptive Geruschunterdrckung passt sich schnell und automatisch an Ihr Umfeld an, um die unerwnschten Hintergrundgerusche Ihrer immer neuen Umgebungen auszublenden.
Die Smart Control App, ALEXA, Siri, Google Assistant:
Hier hat man bei der Einrichtung der Sennheiser PXC 550-II Wireless Kopfhrer
die Qual der Wahl.
Die Smart App ermglicht die Betonung der Kopfhrer, Neutral, Club, Film, Sprache etc., benachrichtigt ber Firmware Updates, reguliert die Geruschunterdrckung, bestckt die Kopfhrer je nach Gusto mit Siri, Alexa oder Google Assistant. Erfreulich gut umgesetzt, auch wenn die Bewertungen im Playstore dies zunchst nicht vermuten lassen wrden.
Sieht man sich vergleichsweise die Konkurrenz am Markt einmal genauer an, wird man feststellen, dass auch Bose, B&O und Jabra hufig Probleme mit der Umsetzung ihrer Software haben. Sennheiser hat sich hier nach meinem Empfinden und meinen bisherigen Erfahrungen doch recht gut aufgestellt!
Der Tragekomfort:
Die Kopfhrer bieten fr meinen recht groen Kopf genug Spiel, um bequem aufzuliegen. Das Kopfband ist recht dnn ausgespart, aber liegt dennoch bequem auf. Der Anpressdruck ist so gewhlt, dass die Kopfhrer auch bei lngerem Tragen mich nicht dazu veranlassen sie abzunehmen, um den Ohren wieder die Mglichkeit zu geben Blut durchzupumpen. Der Innendurchmesser der Lauscher htte fr mich persnlich aber gerne noch etwas weiter sein drfen.
Hier entsteht fr meinen Geschmack etwas zu viel Wrme. Dies sieht man speziell dann, wenn man die Kopfhrer nach einigen Minuten abnimmt und sich die Bepolsterung einmal nher ansieht. Die Lauscherpolsterung ist ordentlich mit Memory-Schaum bedacht worden und schirmt die Ohren komplett ab.
Die Steuerung:
Mglichkeiten der Steuerung sind hier mehr als genug gegeben. Neben der Sprachsteuerung, bietet die Kopfhrer Gestensteuerung, welche auch wirklich intuitiv funktioniert. Die Steuerung via App oder eben im Otto-Normal-Modus via Tablet oder Smartphone.
Nimmt man die Kopfhrer vom Kopf, schalten sie in den Pausemodus. Setzt man sie wieder auf, geht es nach einigen Sekunden Verzgerung wieder genau da weiter wo man zuvor abgesetzt hat.
Die Verarbeitung:
Der Kopfhrer macht einen leichten und dennoch recht robusten Ersteindruck. Mattierte Kunststoffoberflchen, dnne Edelstahlbgel und Kopfband, welche faltbar sind, man dennoch nie das Gefhl hat hier irgendwie minderwertiges Material angedreht bekommen zu haben!
Die Akkuleistung und die Sache mit der Bluetooth Verbindung:
Hier verspricht Sennheiser sehr vollmundig einmal eine Laufleistung wie beim Flug zwischen London und Hong Kong. Den verbauten Lithium-Polymer-Akku mit 330 mAh soll laut Werbeversprechen bis zu 20 Stunden incl. ANC und Bluetooth Verbindung seinen Job verrichten.
In Natura habe ich es bis dato lediglich auf etwas ber 16 Stunden geschafft. Lsst man den Kopfhrer nmlich auf einem permanenten Level von 70 Prozent laufen leert sich der Akku doch zusehends. Im Betrieb mit Klinkenkabel kommt der Kopfhrer auf die versprochenen Werte, dann aber auch nicht unter Volllast. Lsst man die Kopfhrer unter voller Leistung laufen reduziert sich der Betrieb um knappe 30 Prozent.
Die Bluetooth-Verbindung
Tja, hier hrt man von allen Anbietern im Bereich der rosaroten-Kopfhrerwelt immer neue Weiten- und Verbindungsrekorde”.
Sennheiser hingegen bleibt bei seinen PXC 550-II diesen Superlativ schuldig.
Whrend der Verbindungsaufbau noch gut und sicher von der Hand geht, ist man im Reichweitenbereich des Kopfhrers bei maximal 9 Metern. Mehr geht da tatschlich nicht.
Leider existieren keine wirklich detaillierten Angaben zum verwendeten Bluetooth Standard, in den Broschren ist hier lediglich von BT 5 konform” die Rede. Der Kopfhrer hatte bei mir speziell bei Nutzung am PC sowie am heimischen TV-Gert immer mal wieder Aussetzer. Die Fehler traten hingegen bei Nutzung via Tablet und Smartphone nicht auf. Man sollte jedoch auch, um einen ordentlichen Traffic zwischen Endgert und Kopfhrer gewhrleisten zu knnen, keine Zuspieler unter BT 4.1 verwenden.

Der Kopfhrer ist nicht ganz Perfekt (siehe Bluetooth, Akku und Wrmeentwicklung), aber aktuell wohl einer derjenigen, die mir am meisten Spa machen!
Ich hoffe, ich konnte dem einen oder anderen mit meinem Beitrag etwas weiterhelfen. Im Zweifel gilt sowieso, selber ausprobieren und selber eine Meinung bilden. Denn letztlich entscheidet der eigene Geschmack und das kann einem glcklicherweise" auch niemand nehmen!

Bought product to cut out noise from neighbours and dogs. Noise cancellation works for the former but not the latter. Symbols on right earpiece hard to see – black on black
The sound is great and I can work in the same room as the kids watching TV or paying. Bluetooth isn’t quite as smart as Apple AirPlay (when you turn them on they will connect to the last device you had them on, not the one you’d using now, which requires a manual change) on air pods but it’s heaps cheaper than AirPod max. Can connect to Apple tv4 but can’t share audio. Connect to two devices.
I am extremely impressed with these headphones.
The sound quality is great. I find that bass is more than enough to cause a headache at full volume for more than 10 minutes, so it is fine. Higher frequency and vocals come out clearly. I have listened to everything from Metallica to Kishore Kumar and they all sound excellent to my regular ears.
Bluetooth switching works very well with my Macbook Pro and iPhone combo. For calls, the voice quality is extremely clear to the other parties (Facetime, Whatsapp, Zoom, Teams & GMeet). The only thing to make sure of is that you need to wear the “R” labeled speaker on your Right ear. This makes sure that the 3 mic array is positioned in the correct direction to pick your voice clearly.
I like the fact that you can switch off noise-cancelation using a switch on the headphone itself. I don’t like active noise cancellation. I find that passive NC is good enough for my day-to-day usage.
For this price, I thinks its an amazing deal.

Sound quality and build quality is supreme. Ofcourse, to an untrained ear it might sound soft and weird in the beginning but give it some days, this will be grow on you and you’ll love it.
Noise cancelling is decent enough. Great gesture control and battery life.
Overall I’d recommend this to any audiophile who wants a wireless ANC option in this price range.
Positives
1) Active Noise cancelation is good, but not upto Bose standards. You will be surprised by the silence right after wearing it
2) Same goes for Mic on office calls. Clarity is good but it catches some background noise also
3) Build quality seems good but light weight. It is both a good and a bad thing. Have to judge on long term usage
4) Sound quality is mostly true to source. No thumping Bass. If equalizer is set to Club or Movie mode, then you get some extra bass
5) Comfort is best in industry
6) Touch Controls are good and work accurately most of the time
7) Multi device support. We can connect 2 devices at the same time. Works well with Windows 10 unlike Jabra which doesn’t support laptops officially
Can Improve
1) Looks are very subdued. Bose looks classy
2) You will need the Smart Control app to change the sound modes. I wish that they were integrated into the gestures like in Jabra 85H
3) Supports only Alexa voice assistant, not Google assistant even if Google is the default on your phone
4) There is no OFF Switch. So even in wired mode, the headphones consume battery as ANC is ON
5) They give a 2.5mm to 3.5mm aux cable without Mic with the headphones. It is difficult to find a replacement in future. Sennheiser sells a cable with Mic seperately. They should have given a standard 3.5mm cable with Mic considering the price
6) There is no hard case. The supplied case is only semi-hard and won’t protect the headphone from getting crushed. Better buy a good hard case
7) Battery backup is good but could be better
8) I noticed that Battery goes from 20% to 100% in around 90 minutes even though Sennheiser says it takes 3 hours for full charge. I think the battery percentage shown in the App is not accurate, as the headphones actually give more backup when charged for 3 hours.
9) There is no fast charging. Uses MICRO-USB instead of Type-C
Sound: Clean, balanced and very pleasant to listen to. I would describe them as very flexible, clear vocals for podcasts, tight bass for rock/electronic, large sound stage.
Connectivity: Had some issues with initial set up (probably due to the app). Once up and running, pairs very quickly and recognises 2 devices easily (I have them set up for both PC and phone).
Noise cancellation: These are my first ANC headphones, but I think they’re very nice. No noticeable cabin pressure feeling.
Other: Swipe controls work very nicely! “On the fly” switching for the ANC is very convenient. I like the option to go wired or wireless. Mic sounds clear on phone calls.

Kompatibilittsprobleme mit der Smart Control App unter iOS (z. B. Kein Firmware-Update), was schade ist, da ich kein Android-Gert zur Verfgung habe. Auch einige andere Einstellungen funktionieren wohl nicht und berhaupt ist die Smart Control App praktisch nicht mit VoiceOver benutzbar. Wer nicht wei was das ist, dem kanns egal sein. Ansonsten angenehm zu tragen, Super Sound und auch wenn mir bei ANC der Vergleich fehlt bin ich damit sehr zufrieden.
Treble – Exceeds our expectations – perfectly clear.
Bass – I seen few review stating the Bass is low in pxc 550 II to be honest! The Bass is more than enough and adequate. Too much bass will completely ruin the listening experience and bass will dominate the details of music.
Comfort – you can wear it for Hours and Hours. Cups were perfect for medium ears. I saw few reviews where people with larger ear had some discomfort.
ANC – With regards to Noise cancellation PXC 550II does a pretty decent job. Even with anc on you can hear other people talking but thats not an issue at all when you’re listening to music it won’t be an disturbance and much to bother.
Battery – Amazing battery life it goes behind what it was said it can work for. With anc on you can get it till 22 hours as far I tested. Without anc 30 hours. PXC 550 II Stands out of the Crowd again with great battery life. With single charge it can last upto a week with regular 2-3 hours a day of use.
Mic – Surprising audio output from this headphone. This headphone has three mics which help this headphone to avoid and gives out our voices clearly to the other person on call.
Smart Control – with help of this Sennisher app available in Playstore your can modify the audio output. There already preset which simplifies the work and helps to provide great audio experience.
Conclusion;
If you’re fond of details of music and superior sound quality just go for Sennisher PXC 550 -II. Everything is perfect in this headphone. But if you’re a bass lover then it’s up to you. Really an great product sennisher.
The music is deep and lush, the bass is very good to the point it does not interfere with the mids and lows. For comparison, I tried the Skullcandy crusher headphones and I couldn’t wear them for over 2 hours. The Sennheisers work flawless, and while they were a little tight in the first few days, they now feel okay for the fit. The ANC can be manually controlled. The touchpad seems about okay, and works well 8 out of 10 times. The one-tap pause feature is very convenient. The smart pause option is available, it would pause music if you take off the headphones. I have not enabled it and I don’t need it.
Pros:
– Can connect to both my laptop and mobile.
– Awesome sound, and can be customized a bit by the Sennheiser Smart Control app. The sound stage it creates has been exemplary. As a test, I asked my grandfather to listen to a classical song (Kishori Amonkar – Sahela Re) and he was blown away.
– Awesome battery life. I need to charge them once every 3 days and 4 days on light use. I don’t require noise cancellation since I work from home, but I tested it and it worked really well.
– Very good Bluetooth range, the headphones stayed connected and and played music (with no apparent loss in quality) in a second room and going through 3 walls.
– The default carry case is very good. I suspect it would be good enough for traveling for both flights and roads.
– There’s a feature called transparent hearing, which when you double tap on the right can, you can hear what a person is saying.
– Twist and turn off feature is extremely convenient. It even calls out through a voice message.
– Premium build quality but I’m unsure how long the earpads will last. I’m a careful user so I hope they last long.
Cons:
– The app is really simplistic, and only provides 4 default sound modes and firmware updates. I read somewhere a more comprehensive app is overdue. A reviewer here mentioned it too.
– The transparent hearing mode does not work for music but only for calls. Would be better if it worked for music too.
Notes: It uses micro-USB for charging, and not USB C, which is still okay for now. USB C charging would have made this future proof. Not a big con IMHO. Although expensive, I now prefer the sound from these headphones over my Sony (tbf, the Sony is 6 years old). I will take off half a star for the simplistic app that’s all.
Since my wife cannot sleep well if I watch television late at night I decided to give a try to these pair of headphones. Sennheiser PXC 550 Noise Cancelling. The experience is wonderful! They are very light, wonderful sound. They’are automatically synchronized with my smart tv, so when I open them my TV set ask me if I want to pair them.
Living in the city it was very often that I got distracted by the night sound of the trains, the rain or simply a loud car. Now with my Sennheiser PXC 550 Noise Cancelling headphones that is in the past. I only listen the sound track of movies that each time are more and intended to enjoy the music and the sound effect.

This headphones very comfortable,sound good but definetly not loud enought,maybe my pair only have some unbalanced sound in R and L chanel dont know.So i hawe to back them.Sound signature realy good,balanced bass,mid and higs (not R and L chanel).Maybe who hawe not so sensitive ears be ok ,specialy if u like listen music calmly not loud.

Checked out the best noise cancelling [Based on best NC performance as first priority, audio performance & mic clarity second, other factors were third]. What can I say! OK, the Sony (WH-1000XM4) are other world NC, very good, but, while the Sony’s technically have a mic, its unusable. The Bose NC 700 and these Sennheiser’s are on a level field, but the Sennheiser’s take it up with some usability features: Sennheiser’s CAN, but Bose can NOT do the following: Use while charging; Low Latency for Movies / TV / Netflix; Ultra all day comfort. Having to live with them, the Sennheiser’s win!
I read a lot of reviews and decided to give a shot with the Sennies PXC 550 2 at top price on Amazon.de
I was not disappointed, good everywhere with very good clear and refine sound.
ANC is what I needed even if less good than the top. Call quality was a very good surprised and battery life is good too.
Easy to use, fast pairing, reliable connection and comfortable to wear.
Re: things to improve:
1 anti wind mode changes sound quality (contrary to ANC at max), Sennheiser Customer Support said that a firmware soon would fix that,
2 multi connections still a bit unreliable sometimes.

– sennheiser suono molto neutro , le bose hanno pi cattiveria nei bassi
– batteria migliore nelle sennheiser ( durano circa 6 ore in pi le sennheiser )

Le cuffie sono belle e ben fatte, sennheiser non delude mai sotto questo aspetto, il suono ottimo e molto piacevole in cuffia! La connessione con altri dispositivi molto semplice e veloce e il padiglione touch con comandi funzionale per una gestione velocizzata dell’audio e delle chiamate in entrata.
L’unico problema l’ho riscontrato con league of Legends, purtroppo i miei amici non riescono a sentirmi bene, gracchia tutto e le cuffie diventano inutilizzabili.
Sto provando tutti i settaggi possibili ma per ora non ne salto fuori.

Ich benutze ihn auerdem in Verbindung mit dem Audio transmitter BT T100 zur Fernsehunterhaltung und erfreue mich an bassigem krachenden Kino Sound. Alles nur empfehlenswert soweit. Trotzdem gibt es zwei Fragezeichen: 1. haben die den Hrer nur fr Menschen mit kleinen Ohren oder Kinder gemacht??? 2.fr die interne Ansagestimme hat man wohl eine pensionierte Oberlehrerin als Grundlage genommen… Ich habe noch niemals eine so unsexy klingende Stimme in einem Medium gehrt…!!
A very comfortable pair of headphones with top notch audio quality and good ANC. As expected from Sennheiser the sound is well tuned.
Only downside I felt is when 2 devices are connected to the headphone it annoyingly jumps from one device to other depending on whichever is transmitting sound, wish there was a option to manually switch devices.
Also the touch controls are not super reliable, it’s a hit or miss sometimes. You can expect a 70% accuracy on touch controls.

Noise Cancellation is pretty good in terms of cutting out constant noises. However, do not expect it to cancel out voices and sudden noises.
If you are looking to spend a bit of money on getting a good pair of headphones, look no further and pick up the Sennheiser PXC 550 II. I promise you will not regret it.
As a word of caution, the charging might seem to be a bit distorted at first. Remember to drain out the battery COMPLETELY before putting it on charge and wait for it to charge completely. Do this for the first 3 cycles and the charging should stabilise.
The only complaint I have is that the Sennheiser customer support team in India is PATHETIC and I suspect they are probably either drunk or on some kind of substances at work since their response to any query will not be even remotely connected to your problem. You’d rather want to solve it yourself.

Despus de mucho, mucho leer, distintas marcas y modelos, ver videos, reviews, opiniones. En fin, de investigar mucho, me decid por estos “a ciegas” pues con el covid no me apetece ir a probar auriculares.
He de decir que los compr por 198 (45% descuento), y en relacin a ese precio, es el que opino.
Aspectos:
Materiales: Los materiales son buenos. No parecen baratos ni mucho menos, pero no son premium. Todo es plstico de tacto agradable, suave como siliconado, y satinado. La diadema es de una piel sinttica de tacto muy bueno. El interior de la misma es metlico y transmite mucha calidad. Tiene unos puntos de ajuste pequeos para el ajuste de la circunferencia cabeza-odos. Las almohadillas son tambin de piel sinttica, agradable al tacto y cmodas. Al ser todo de este material, la limpieza es sencilla y rpida. El interior de las copas, sobre los trasductores, hay una tela fina que tiene las letras L-R y solo parece tener el propsito esttico de acabado de tapar el plstico de los mismos. La funda de transporte, es correcta, y muy ajustada a los mismos, cosa que me gusta, ya que son unos auriculares para movilidad, y el ahorro del espacio es crucial. Al apagarse girando las copas, queda bastante estrecha. Cumple su cometido bien, y es discreta y neutra. Tiene un separador para que las copas no rocen una con otra, y un bolsillo pequeo para cables y adaptador vuelo. Todos los materiales transmiten solidez, a pesar del poco peso, y el tiempo dir qu resultado dan. Los cables y adaptador de vuelo, tienen una calidad acorde al conjunto.
Comodidad: Son muy muy cmodos, si bien es cierto que se debe encontrar la colocacin idnea. Las almohadillas no transpiran, con lo que se produce cierta humedad con la transpiracin, entre estas y la piel, pero creo que totalmente normal en este material. Cuando apriete el calor, es probable que debamos secarlos de tanto en cuando. La diadema hace la presin justa para que no se muevan, pero no molestan. Yo los suelo llevar un par de horas, y no me cansan. Tiene un acolchonamiento cmodo, pero para mi gusto, podra ser unos milmetros ms ancho, y tener menos abombamiento (ms plano) para distribuir su poco peso an mejor si cabe. En comparacin con mis Sennheiser momentum 1, son abismalmente ms cmodos.
Funcionamiento “hardware”: El mecanismo de encenderlos girando las copas, es francamente bueno, y bien puede ser la sea de identidad de los mismos. No tener que buscar botones o confiar en un automatismo es de agradecer. La copa derecha, concentra todos los controles y conexiones junto la superficie tctil, y la izquierda no tiene nada excepto un micro. Los zurdos no tienen tampoco cabida en Sennheiser. El botn y el interruptor ANC, son pequeos y estn cerca unos de otros, pero su tacto es bueno. El interruptor ANC tiene tres posiciones, y puede ser difcil sobre todo andando, ajustarlo a la primera. El botn de emparejamiento/asistente virtual, debera estar en la otra copa, o duplicado en el panel tctil con una combinacin de toques. El cable jack es 2,5 mm en la copa, pero al no haberlo usado no opino de l, aunque si me gusta que la parte del Jack 3,5 mm sea acodada. Tiene la ubicacin clsica de los auriculares. El conector de carga micro usb, est al lado y francamente es una lstima que no sea usbC, ya que aparte de la rapidez de carga, cosa que no es para mi un problema, si estara bien no tener que ir mirando si lo conectas del derecho, cosa que con el usb, todos sabemos que siempre lo intentas primero en la posicin que no toca.
La superficie tctil funciona en mi unidad perfectamente. Detecta siempre los toques y deslizamientos, aunque estn presentes los toques accidentales por ejemplo al buscar el interruptor ANC. Los toques son muy intuitivos y es fcil hacerse con ellos.
Funcionamiento “software”: Al encenderlo, me sali una actualizacin de firmware, por lo que lo actualiz. La aplicacin funciona bien, y me gusta que no tenga infinidad de ajustes. Tiene los que pienso son realmente necesarios. En cuanto a los ajustes de sonido son realmente presets, donde uno de ellos es ajustable (“Amplificador-Espacial-Reberveracin y DLC) y una especie de enfatizador del sonido. Para mi no es problema pues me gusta el sonido plano, tal cual esta grabado, y siempre tengo mis dispositivos musicales en “flat”, pero para la gente que s le gusta tocar las frecuencias, es realmente un handicap. Puedes ajustar el tipo de cancelacin de ruido, activar smart pause (al quitarse los auriculares) y mejora de llamadas. El smart pause, no funciona y detiene la reproduccin cada poco segn te mueves, o si es una llamada telefnica, la pone en pausa, lo cual es frustrante. No es cuestin de colocacin, ni ajuste: no funciona. Hay que desactivarlo si quieres usarlos.
A m si se me dispara Siri, cuando pulso el botn del asistente. Tengo en la app, Amazon Alexa desactivado. Funciona igual de bien que en los otros dispositivos.
Tiene confirmacin de funciones por voz o por tonos. Yo la voz la encuentro intrusiva y artificiosa, y la tengo solo por tonos.
Conectividad: Al ser bluetooth 5.0, tiene mayor ancho de banda que anteriores versiones, con lo cual la calidad de sonido es en teora, mejor. Es multidispositivo, una de las razones, junto al precio, por lo que me decant por ellos, ante otras opciones. Esta funcin funciona bien, al menos, tan bien como mis AirPods Pro, con el MacBook Air, y el iPhone. No es instantneo, pero en general no es necesario tener que ir a seleccionarlos en ningn dispositivo. En alguna ocasin s lo he tenido que hacer, pero tambin en los AirPods, o sea parece problema imputable al porttil. En este aspecto, bien.
En cuanto a la cobertura, en mi caso y siendo realista con el estndar bluetooth, creo que son correctos. Me separo del mvil unos seis metros, con un forjado en medio, y no se corta la transmisin. Si te alejas ms, empieza a microcortar, hasta que falla. Quiz sin obstculos tendrn bastante ms alcance, pero no me separo tanto del mvil si no es en casa, y no tengo estancias tan grandes. Alguna vez hay un cambio de volumen indeseado al conectarlos de nuevo, o al cambiar de aplicacin de reproduccin.
ANC: Aqu tengo sentimientos encontrados, aunque mi valoracin es positiva. Si bien es mejor que el de los AirPods Pro (no as el modo transparencia, que en los AirPods Pro es excepcional) es simplemente correcta. Funciona bien, sin ms. No impresiona. El modo antiwind funciona realmente, aunque si quieres no or absolutamente nada, quiz no sean tus auriculares. No he probado los Sony xm4 que todo el mundo alaba, pero claro, valen casi el doble. Tambin funciona en llamadas, y andando por el exterior realmente se nota. El modo adaptativo, no me gusta tanto en exterior como el antiwind, es como si no fuera igual de constante cancelando ruido, y no consigo saber realmente qu hace en cada modo. A veces, al pasar de antiwind a adaptativo se nota una diferencia en la cancelacin, pero al hacerlo a la inversa no escucho diferencia.
Un uso fantstico que tiene la cancelacin de ruido es la de poder centrarte mejor, ponindote los auriculares ANC, y no reproduciendo nada. Aslan mucho, y parece mentira que “tan poca cosa” te permita descansar los odos. Viene muy bien en esos momentos que quieres aislarte de todo el ruido cotidiano.
Es muy posible que la cancelacin de ruido, no sea tan efectiva como en otros auriculares, dado el bajo peso que tienen, de hecho si apagamos el ANC, el aslamiento pasivo, es ms bien discreto, como si tuvieran poco “material absorbente” dentro.
Batera: No s las horas que dura, desde luego no las 30 que Sennheiser dice, pero s muchas, y las suficientes como para que no sea problema alguno, incluso en sesiones largas de escucha. La carga es lenta, pero en mi caso no es problema, ya que los suelo cargar en ratos que no los necesito, y no me entero. La carga completa, tarda unas 3 horas, pero nunca cargas desde 0, con lo cual con una recarga de un rato, ya te da para horas de escucha. No he probado de cargar mientras escucho.
Calidad de sonido: He dejado para el final este apartado, ya que es un tema personalsimo. Es muy difcil, incluso osado, describir con palabras el sonido, ya que es un tema de percepciones, y sobre todo de edad. Nuestro “hardware” es distinto entre cada persona, y a cada edad. Yo no los prob, ya que con el covid, no me apeteca ir a probar auriculares, por lo que le todo lo que estuvo a mi alcance en este rango de precios y me hice una idea de ellos. Muchas opiniones listan temas escuchados, y los describen, pero claro, al final es una percepcin individual, y todo el mundo tiene sus propias preferencias. En mi opinin, tras semanas de escucha con mis propios temas que conozco, puedo decir que estoy plenamente satisfecho, y el sonido que tienen es el que esperaba. Muy Sennheiser. Plano, bastante equilibrado, pudindolos escuchar mucho rato sin fatiga auditiva, y sin rangos que frecuencias que destaquen demasiado encima de otras. No me gustan los dispositivos que enfatizan unas frecuencias sobre otras, pero tampoco me gusta que se amortigen otras. Los bajos estn claramente presentes, sin dominar toda la escena, los agudos tambin se escuchan en equilibrio con el resto, y los medios son perfectamente definidos. Los pequeos matices de cada nota, voz o instrumento, entiendo que ser muy personal de cada oyente y todos opinaremos distinto, pero en general tienen una buena fidelidad. Tienen diversos cdecs de transmisin de audio, pero yo soy usuario de ecosistema apple y apple music, y uso el acc de apple, el cual los PCX soportan. Estos son los mejores auriculares que he tenido y escuchado. Despus de estos, me he quedado con las ganas de escuchar los AirPods max, que he tenido en mis manos y de los que tan bien se habla. La primera sensacin fue que son muy premium pero pesados. No los prov por el covid, y por que ahora tengo estos y no quiero “tener que desear” otra cosa, aparte de los inconvenientes que tienen, incluido el precio. Volviendo a los PCX, el sonido en las llamadas que recibe nuestro interlocutor, es correcta, nos oye claro y sin interferencias aunque suena un poco metlico, como enlatado. Es el mismo sonido que recibimos nosotros cuando activamos el modo transparencia. Para el usuario no es muy incmodo, ya que no es el principal cometido de estos auriculares, pero es un aspecto a pulir.
Conclusin: No gastara los 349 que piden de tarifa, pues en mi opinin todo este tipo de auriculares, est un poco pasado de precio. Hay demanda, y eso los encarece. Al precio que los compr (194), son francamente buenos, y pienso que se podra pagar hasta 250-270 mximo por ellos funcionando todo bien. Ms ya no. Escog estos frente a los Sony xm3 que ahora son tentadores en precio, y no puedo estar ms contento, con la conexin multidispositivo, y la comodidad. El hardware est a la altura, aunque la ergonoma sin ser un hndicap, se podra mejorar.
Para subir el listn, creo que tienen que trabajar sobre todo la app, Sennheiser es joven en software, y eso se nota. Y la autopausa..Si no funciona, no lo incluyas, frustrar al consumidor, no parece una buena estrategia.

After watching many YouTube videos of headphone reviews where they also test call quality in terms of how the person on the other side hears it. I shortlisted these and they were a bit cheaper than Sony 1000XM3.
Before getting on work calls, I checked with my friends and they mentioned they could hear me crystal clear, no complaints. So much so that my voice had more clarity using these headphones in comparison to while speaking from my iPhone 12 Pro Max which took me by surprise.
Noise cancellation is great. No complaints. I use it many times to focus and fade the noise.
Comfort is A+, I forget sometimes that my headphones are on.
Crystal clear sound for acoustics. Not bass heavy headphones and it won’t get super loud. You can hear the various musical instruments used in the song distinctly, vocals. You could just get lost in how well they are calibrated. It doesn’t get blaring loud and neither will it get bass heavy.
I have a real appreciation for the people who designed and built something so unique. You need to download their app, ensure that you have updated the firmware and configured the EQ as per your preference. Initially when I just plugged it in it and it sounded flat but after I updated and configured just once it feels like I have 3D surround sound.
I chose these over Bose, and I think this really is worth the money.
I also want to thank the customer service, there was an issue with the first pair I had, it was exchanged and a brand-new one was issued immediately. The people who I spoke to on the phone were very friendly very professional, I would recommend buying this product.

J’ai command le case le 17, la livraison tait donc prvu le 19 avant 21h (je suis Amazon prime) et j’ai eu la surprise de trouver mon casque dans ma bote au lettre le 18. Le colis tait dans un tat irrprochable, je n’ai rien a dire ce niveau l, livraison parfaite.

La bote du casque est trs simple mais on y retrouve les informations principales du casques. En ouvrant, on tombe tout de suite sur cette pochette semi-rigide dans la quelle est le casque, le cble jack 3.5mm vers mini-jack 2.5 (dommage, mini-jack peu rpandu, gnant en cas de casse), l’adaptateur pour avion (un bon petit plus) ainsi que le cble de recharge USB-A vers Micro-USB. Oui vers micro-USB… tant de plus en plus habitu des cbles USB-C, recevoir un cble de recharge en Micro-USB sur un casque haut de gamme au prix de base de 349 je trouve a vraiment dommage. Sinon on bien entendu la notice de dmarrage rapide et de scurit.

Comme dit prcdemment, le casque est livre avec un “boite” semi-rigide. Elle protgera le casque pendant son transport dans un sac (je l’emporte dans mon sac tout les jours), cependant, si on la compare avec l’tui de ses concurrents, elle fait tout-de-mme ple-figure… ct de l’tui d’un Bose 700, c’est le jour et la nuit. Sinon comme dit plus tt, on y retrouve ses cbles ainsi que l’adaptateur avion.

En prenant le casque pour la premire fois en main j’ai t trs surpris. En effet, il ne fais que 222g, ce qui est vraiment lger, et apporte un bon confort, j’y reviendrai plus tard. Comme vous vous en doutez, le casque est fait entirement de plastique sauf au niveau de l’arceau de celui-ci, cependant il ne fait absolument pas “cheap”, au contraire, on sent que c’est un casque premium et qu’il tiendra dans le temps. Sur l’oreillette droite, on y trouve plusieurs LED qui nous indique le niveau de batterie qu’a le casque, le port Micro-USB, le mini-jack ainsi qu’un switch qui permet de rgler la rduction active du bruit sur trois niveaux diffrents, un autre switch permettant de dsactiver le Bluetooth et enfin un bouton de communication pour les assistants connects. Sinon sur les deux oreillettes du casque il y deux parties tactiles qui fonctionne trs bien.

J’ai remarqu que ces pavs tactiles sont extrmement ractifs, vraiment agrable l’utilisation. Cependant, faites attention quand vous manipulez le casque, vous risquez d’accidentellement mettre votre musique sur pause.

Grce au switch, vous pouvez la rgler sur trois niveaux. en mode teint, on ne profite donc que de la rduction passive du casque qui est dj, selon moi dj trs bonne. Le mode vent lui limine bien les bruits classiques, et sans tonnements, se montre particulirement efficace contre le vent. Sinon il y a le mode maximale qui lui limine la plupart des sons. La rduction de bruits n’est pas des meilleurs (un Bose QC35 II, un Bose 700 ou un Sony 1000XM3 feront un peu mieux), mais comme la rduction de bruit passive est bonne, on se retrouve finalement avec la majore partie des bruits qui se retrouvent supprime.

Sennheiser annonce une batterie de 30 heures, mais comme vous vous en doutez je ne suis jamais arriver sa fin. J’ai reu le casque charg 60%, je l’ai utilis pendant deux jours et environ 2 heures par jours avec un son 60% avec la rduction de bruit active sur le mode max, et je me retrouve environ 40%. donc du ct de la batterie du casque, aucun soucis se faire.

Comme dit au dbut, le casque est trs lger avec un poids plume de 222g. En plus, il a des coussinets en forme d’ovale qui entourent les oreilles (circum-oral), en plus avec un arceau assez bien rembourr, on peut porter le casque sans douleur 3-4 heures sans soucis. Ce temps dpass, ce sera l’arceau qui fera pression sur votre crne et provoquer un douleur.

Avec le casque, Sennheiser nous met disposition une application disponible sur IOS et Android, “smart control” Malheureusement, celle-ci se montre plutt dcevante. En effet, on un equalizer qui n’n n’est pas vraiment un, on peut choisir entre booster les aigus, les basses et les voix mais cette dernire option est viter car on perd toute les basses et les aigus. sinon on peut choisir si le son donne une sensation d’tre coll aux oreilles ou de venir “de plus loin”. Le deuxime niveau d’ANC (que j’ai appel le mode vent) est personnalisable entre mode vent et mode adaptatif. Voici les seuls rglages principaux prsents ce qui est plus qu’anecdotique. On peut aussi activer ou non Alexa, l’amlioration de la qualit des appels ainsi qu’une option, qui est selon moi vraiment sympa, le fait que la musique se coupe en enlevant le casque et se ractive en le remettant.

Le Seinnheiser PXC 550 II est bluetotoh 5.0 et prsente les codec classiques AAC et SBC mais a aussi du APTX et APTX low latancy, particulirement apprciable sur Android pour des fichers HD (Apple ne supporte pas le APTX).

Et le plus important sur un casque, le son. Je le rppel, je ne peux vous fournir un avis objectifs car nos prferences sonores seront diffrentes. Mais personnellement, c’est une superbe experiance. Cependant, prenez en compte que j’ai mis le Boost sur “Rumble” et le spatial sur “medium” directement dans l’application. Mais le plus important, j’utilise un equalizer, celui de Spotify prremium, j’ai mis en valeur les basses et les aigus avec un lger boost des mediums. Le son est con trs bon, ne sature pas sauf haut volume. parcontre, de base le casque nous flatte quand mme dans les aigus ce qui fait qu’a haut volume (90-100%) on de la sibilence, mais de toute vidence personne ne met le son aussi fort, sachant que 60-70% suffisent amplement.

Je prcise que j’ai achet ce casque 149,99. Mais son prix normal est de 349,99 avec trs souvent des rductions qui le proposent entre 200-250. Au del, je vous dconseille ce casque et de partir sur un Bose 700 ou un Sony XM3/XM4. mais en dessous de 250 le casque les vaut largement et saura satisfaire la majore partie des gens.

Le gros plus, c’est vraiment la qualit du micro lors des appels : casque sur les oreilles, mes interlocuteurs m’entendent aussi bien, si ce n’est mieux, qu’en tenant le tlphone. Le tout sans micro apparent. Parfait, je vous dis.
Soy un fantico de Bose y reconozco que los Sennheiser PX550II mejoran los grabes considerablemente, pero en cancelacin de ruidos, Bose sigue en cabeza, lo supera notablemente.
En cuanto a la funda para guardarlos, no esta a la altura de los auriculares. La funda es mediocre y demaciado justa. Las cremalleras rozan con los auriculares a la hora de cerrar y abrir. La calidad de los materiales, psima. De hecho, he tenido que invertir y comprar otras porque de no hacerlo, estoy seguro que a corto plazo, de abrir y cerrar, inevitablemente daara los auriculares.
They’re comfortable to wear, which for me is important as they’re worn every day and often for long periods of time. The sound quality is incredible and the microphone I’m told is crystal clear. The battery lasts a ages and is relatively quick to charge. The noise cancellation is fantastic which allows you to immerse yourself in what you’re listening to.
I have two issues with them so far. 1) the bluetooth connection can sometimes be odd/slow. It also occasionally will disconnect from my phone when someone calls/video calls. Then you have to turn them off and then back on again. Also they seem to have an autopay function with my phone, so if my laptop stops playing music and my phone is connected, it’ll just start playing music which can be alarming. 2) the controls are almost all touch and I detest touch controls. Brushed the headphone against clothing or an arm? Now you’ve muted a song, paused it, turned the volume up/down etc. It is irritating and unnecessary. Proper buttons of some form mean you can be confident to hit the right button without looking. Touch makes it a far more finnicky attempt.

The sound quality is the best I’ve heard in BT headphones. I tried the Sony XM4 and Bose 700 too. They both have the classic bass bloat you experience in mainstream headphones. PXC 550 ii is very well balanced and has very good instrument separation. While the NC is pretty good imo, XM4 does it better. The NC is good enough for working in a cafe and listening to music on a flight at 30% volume.

Is a great product for someone who listens to a lot of music/movies but is not looking for technical perfection. The headphones pairs very easily with my Pixel 3a and Debian laptop – a difficult combination for many devices. I am very satisfied with the quality.
Devo premettere che da quando ho queste cuffie, non riesco a smettere di usarle. Io sono un utente medio, non mi aspettavo la Luna ma un prodotto che mi offrisse qualit e affidabilit, e devo dire che in generale le 4 stelle sono pi che meritate.
Sono belle, comode (morbidissima la gomma usata) gestiscono fino a due sorgenti BT, la qualit audio buona e anche la ricezione non per niente male in quanto a stabilit e distanza. Anche durante le chiamate, si sente (e ci sentono) davvero bene.
Le ho comprate in offerta e devo ammettere che valgono il prezzo in offerta (circa 40% off), mentre a prezzo pieno… sarei piuttosto insoddisfatto.
La app per la gestione delle cuffie super-base, permette di giocare tra pochi settings pre-impostati e non possiamo gestire l’audio a nostro piacimento. Questo trasmette la sensazione che manchi qualcosa: non potersi godere a pieno un accessorio con cos tanto potenziale.
I comandi touch sul padiglione destro, cos cos: il play/pausa con un tocco efficiente (le attivazioni accidentali per non mancano) mentre il gesto per mandare avanti/indietro di 15 secondi mette spesso a dura prova la mia pazienza.
La ricarica tramite micro USB poi, qualcosa che ancora non riesco a perdonare a Sennheiser! 😀
In generale, sono un bel prodotto (anche solo da guardare o al tocco, danno una bellissima sensazione), ma il prezzo pieno decisamente troppo… aspettate il momento giusto prima di comprarle!
La cosa pi sgradevole delle cuffie circumaurali che ogni movimento della mandibola, ogni sfregamento su un eventuale cavo, la propria voce vengono amplificati: tra il collegamento wireless e l’ANR, tutto questo sparisce.
Unica nota: come tutti i device con ANR, nel momento in cui si attiva l’ANR si percepisce come “una pressione” dentro alle cuffie, visto che la riduzione del rumore attiva. Potrebbe dare fastidio, ma percepibile solo quando non si sta ascoltando nulla.
Infine, il fatto di poter essere collegate contemporaneamente a fino a 3 device, rende la fruizione dei diversi device istantenea.

+ Die Active Noise Cancellation sehe ich bei Sennheiser, Bose und Sony in der gleichen Liga, wobei ich Bose und Sony im direkten Vergleich vor Sennheiser sehe.
+ Die Passive Noise Cancellation sehe ich bei Bose und Sennheiser in der gleichen Liga und bei Sony eine halbe Liga hher, zum Preis der schlechteren Portabilitt bei Sony.
+ Das automatische Ein-, Ausschalten und Verbinden durch Drehen der rechten Ohrmuschel finde ich uerst praktisch.
+ Das Aussehen gefllt mir bei Sennheiser am besten.
+ Der Sennheiser PXC 550-II kann mit Wind umgehen; das Vorgngermodell hat bei Wind noch Strgerusche verursacht.
+ Sennheiser bietet Ersatz-Ohrpolster auch Ersatzakkus an.
Nachteile:
– Beim Vorgnger wurde nach zwei Jahren tglichem Gebrauch im Winter drauen der Akku schwach. Ich habe den Akku selbst getauscht und das Problem war behoben.
– Beim Vorgnger lies nach zwei Jahren das Klickgerusch des Drehgelenkes nach.
– Der Sennheiser PXC 550-II ist komplett schwarz gehalten, wo sein Vorgnger aluminiumfarben war. Optisch gefiel mir daher der Vorgnger besser. Von den inneren Werten berzeugt aber klar das aktuelle Modell.
Avevo escluso Bose perch il suono non mi convinceva e mi ero focalizzato su Sony e Sennheiser.
Invogliato da un’ottima offerta ho voluto provare queste PXC e non ne sono per niente deluso.
Rispetto a tutte le varie concorrenti queste sono decisamente pi leggere e i numeri non rendono giustizia. Ho potuto comparare varie cuffie sia mie che di amici e mentre con tutte dopo 40-50 minuti inizia a sentirsi un fastidio per l’archetto o sulle orecchie queste dimenticherete letteralmente di averle.
Dopo i primi tentativi di posizionarle al meglio in quanto sembrano pi strette (poi spiegher perch sembrano) troverete la giusta posizione con cui potrete indossarle per ore senza il minimo sforzo.
La prima impressione di eccessiva pressione dovuta al fatto che se le andate ad allungare troppo esse arriveranno fino alla mandibola dandovi un po’ di fastidio, una volta raggiunta la giusta lunghezza invece avrete un comfort senza pari, dato anche dai padiglioni che seguono la forma dell’orecchio anche per inclinazione.
Altra cosa che aumenter il comfort la poca pressione sonora: con altre cuffie noise cancelling dopo un po’ la pressione dovuta alla cancellazione fastidiosa e avrete bisogno di una pausa mentre con queste ci non accade.
Passiamo ora proprio alla cancellazione del rumore: a me piaciuta davvero tanto, mai ovattata, mai esagerata, in chiamata non vi sentirete isolati in quanto sentirete anche la vostra voce, insomma l’ho trovata decisamente buona. Per lavorare senza rumori veramente perfetta.
Le chiamate poi sono davvero cristalline. Chiunque mi avesse ascoltato tramite smartphone o Skype ha detto di avermi sentito in maniera perfetta, la voce non era metallica ma pulita.
Ed ora la qualit sonora: Sennheiser una garanzia. Le ho testate sia wireless che via cavo, con smartphone, lettore musicale, giradischi, in tutti i casi ho sempre avuto un suono pulito, dettagliato su tutte le frequenze, bassi presenti ma non invadenti, toni alti cristallini ma mai fastidiosi, medi chiari.
Ovvio che non saremo mai a cuffie del calibro delle Sennheiser 660 ma proprio perch siamo nella stessa casa produttrice la qualit sonora sar veramente alta soprattutto se rapportata alla dimensione delle cuffie e soprattutto dei driver e al fatto che il padiglione di tipo chiuso.
Aggiungo inoltre la feature del multipoint che comodissimo per lavoro: avere PC del lavoro e smartphone personale connessi contemporaneamente meraviglioso.
Veniamo ora agli unici due punti dolenti di queste cuffie straordinarie:
– ingresso micro USB per la ricarica: perch? Capisco voler risparmiare spazio ma sono uscite nel 2019 in cui ormai anche le cuffie pi economiche hanno un attacco USB C (magari pure usato per l’audio), non ha davvero senso
– l’equalizzatore presente nell’app: disponibile un app con cui gestire diversi aspetti delle cuffie, perch queste hanno solo dei preset (che peraltro sono a mio avviso peggio dell’eq neutro) e non un equalizzatore a bande come le momentum 3 uscite nello stesso periodo e gestibili dalla stessa app? Onestamente non me lo spiego.
A valle di tutte queste considerazioni vale la pena prenderle? A mio avviso sicuramente. Io ho potuto acquistarle sotto ai 200, limite di prezzo sotto il quale sono un best buy assoluto, al prezzo abituale a cui si trovano invece (250 circa) rimangono comunque un ottimo acquisto, forse al di sopra attenderei qualche offerta ma non deluderanno in ogni caso.
Le consiglio soprattutto: a chi le vuole usare per lavoro, a chi le vuole indossare per lunghe sessioni di ascolto, a chi si vuole isolare, a chi nonostante tutto non vuole rinunciare ad una qualit musicale decisamente alta pur mantenendo la comodit.

Beim ersten Kopfhrer hrte man nach fnf Minuten vom Treiber rechts nichts mehr. Da Amazon zu dem Zeitpunkt dann keinen PXC 550-ii mehr auf Lager hatte, bestellte ich den zweiten beim Mediamarkt. Der war dann frei von Defekten.
Wenn man die beiliegende Tasche ffnet, kann es leicht passieren, dass der Schlitten ber das Reiverschlussende rutscht und rausfllt. Die Tasche kann man dann wegwerfen. Dass Sennheiser einem Gert (angebl. Oberklasse) Zubehr von solch schbiger Qualitt beilegt, ist war mir dann Grund genug zu retournieren. Dann vielleicht doch lieber gleich nur einen Stoffbeutel beilegen als solch einen Blender.
Bin an sich zufrieden. Fr die Alexa Funktion mu allerdings mit dem Smartphone verbunden werden. Das habe ich mir anders vorgestellt. Darum nutze ich diese Funktion auch nicht mehr. Die Bsse knnten krftiger sein und die maximale Lautstrke etwas hher. Sonst ein gutes Produkt.
Y la experiencia no ha podido ser ms positiva, ha sido autnticamente amor a primera vista. Siempre me gusta probar mis primeros auriculares con Rimshot de Eryka Baduh porque es una cancin que tiene unos bajos muy profundos, que unido a la voz de la cantante me empiezan a dar una pauta clara de lo que voy a encontrar. Que conste que no soy Basslover, necesito que los bajos estn presentes pero que den protagonismo a medios y agudos. En este caso por fin he encontrado unos bajos potentes pero perfectamente definidos. A partir de aqu he ido disfrutando de un sonido absolutamente equilibrado, con esos bajos ntidos y con cuerpo pero que para nada se comen unos medios y altos claros y bien detallados. He encontrado aquello que buscaba, como es redescubrir canciones a travs de instrumentos ntidos y con una gran espacialidad, donde puedes apreciar que cada cosa est en su sitio y cobra su protagonismo, cuando con los otros auriculares estaba todo ms o menos mezclado, con indefinicin de ciertos instrumentosno s, no soy audifilo y me resulta complicado explicarlo, pero he sentido algo diferente y maravilloso. Decir que escucho msica desde iPhone, y la diferencia de este PCX 550ii frente a su predecesor el PCX 550, es que trabaja con el cdec AAC, especfico de Apple, por si hay dudas a la hora de elegir, al usuario Android quiz no le merezca la pena ir al modelo ms moderno. Dicho esto, ahora me quedo con las ganas de probar otros auriculares premium que dicen que son incluso mejores para ver qu podra encontrarme, pero bueno, no me la juego porque estos son espectaculares, y pude escuchar en el corte ingles los prestigiosos Sony WH-1000XM4, y creo que estos tienen unos bajos muy sobredimensionados y una msica muy coloreada y poco natural.
Estos Sennheiser tienen adems una app con la puedes jugar algo con la ecualizacin poniendo distintos tipos de escenas, pero bueno, a m me ha gustado tanto la neutra que no la cambio.
Ms cosas, los controles se ubican en un panel tctil en la copa derecha, y tienen en mi opinin un funcionamiento muy preciso y agradable a la hora de pausar, subir y bajar volumen y pasar canciones. Adems con el doble tap la msica se pausa y se activan los micrfonos para poder escuchar a tu alrededor, que es algo que mola mucho y que puede ser muy til. Asimismo, funciona con asistentes, en mi caso lo he probado con Alexa y funciona muy bien.
Tambin he tenido la oportunidad de hablar por telfono desde la calle, y haciendo viento, y se oa perfectamente, y lo ms importante, tambin me escuchaban a m con perfecta claridad.
Otro tema que me parece esencial es la comodidad del auricular. Debido a que estamos ante auriculares over the ear o circumaurales, podra pensarse que siempre van a ser cmodos, pero nada ms lejos de la realidad, y lo he sufrido en mis carnes con los Audio Technica, que me apretaban y daban mucho calor, aun en invierno, de modo que al poco rato ya no los aguantaba. Me daba miedo este aspecto en los Sennheiser pero nada ms lejos de la realidad, son muy cmodos y no dan calor, siendo perfectos para gente con cabeza y/o orejas grandes. Muy bien porque las copas no son especialmente grandes sino alargadas para adaptarse a la forma de la oreja. A la comodidad tambin ayuda la ligereza, algo menos de 230gr. He odo que los nuevos Airpod circumaurales de Apple pesan casi 400Gr. Compadezco a sus usuarios, todo lo que vaya ms all de 300gr penaliza muchsimo en comodidad.
Y ahora los palos, que son fundamentalmente dos, ambos relacionados con la cancelacin de sonido. Ha sido tan decepcionante que me pregunto si no ser problema de mi unidad. El caso es que sal a probar los auriculares a la calle y haca un poco de viento. Cuando digo un poco me refiero a un poco. Pues bien, caminando de frente al aire el ruido era molestsimo, era como si los micrfonos amplificaran el ruido del viento de manera que me ha arruinado la experiencia sonora al 100%. Prob a quitar la cancelacin, pero nada. Hay dos modos de cancelacin, uno adaptativo o intermedio, que recomiendan precisamente para viento, y el de cancelacin total. No he notado realmente la diferencia entre ambos, cuando iba con viento de cola me ha parecido que el desempeo era correcto, agradable, neutraliza bastante el ruido del trfico, pero en el camino de vuelta ya digo que un verdadero horror. El Noise Cancelling del Audio Technica, siendo un auricular de menor nivel, me ha parecido mejor.
Otra cosa que merece un suspenso sin paliativos para el equipo de usabilidad de Sennheiser es la manera de activar y desactivar la cancelacin de ruido. Se hace a travs de un interruptor fsico pequeito con tres posiciones que hay en la copa derecha (off, cancelacin adaptativa y cancelacin total). Esto hace que deba buscarse, siendo un peln complicado, pero con el agravante de que al estar en la misma copa que los controles tctiles, el 90% de las veces que lo accionas tocas el panel y cambiars de cancin, o pausars la msica o algo pasar. Es una pena que con lo bien que funciona el tctil no pueda manejarse la cancelacin con l, o que el botn fsico no lo hayan puesto en la otra copa por ejemplo.
Aparte de estos temas pues ya sabis, este auricular tiene conector micro-usb, con lo que no dispone de la velocidad de carga de un usb-c, aunque la batera dura y mucho. Por el contrario, es multipunto, de modo que puedes tener dos dispositivos conectados a la vez (ej estas viendo la tele con los auriculares y si te llaman, se activa con el telfono).
Resumiendo el rollo que os he metido:
A FAVOR:
– Sonido sublime, equilibrado, detallado, espaciadopara disfrutar, y con alguna opcin de personalizacin va app.
– Enorme comodidad y ligereza.
– Panel tctil intuitivo y preciso.
– Micrfono perfecto para hablar por telfono.
– Posibilidad de usar asistentes como Alexa.
– Posibilidad de tener dos dispositivos conectados a la vez.
EN CONTRA:
– Cancelacin de ruido deja muchsimo que desear en situaciones de viento.
– La forma de activar y desactivar la cancelacin de ruido est muy mal diseada.
En mi caso los puntos en contra no son esenciales por el tipo de uso que voy a dar al auricular, pero para el que la cancelacin sea crtica, comparara (prob los Sony y en este caso estn muy por encima, aunque en mi opinin tiene peor calidad de sonido). Si hubiera un auricular BT de esta calidad sin cancelacin de ruido y fuera ms barato, ira sin duda a comprarlo.
NOTA: Posteriormente he probado esos auriculares premium sin NC, en este caso unos Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H4. Siempre he sentido una fijacin por poseer algo de esta marca, ya que de nio crec con un equipo en casa de mi abuelo que era increble, y ya ms mayor vi porqu lo era, y el nivel de precios es inasumible para m, pero unos auriculares si me los puedo permitir. Pues bien, estos Beoplay H4 son unos grandes auriculares pero para mi gusto no llegan a la suela de los zapatos a los Sennheiser. Menos ntido en general, y con una ecualizacin personalizable pero que no me permite encontrar lo que busco. Sonido ms coloreado, menos natural aunque bastante equilibrado, esto va por gustos y a mi no me han convencido, aunque los materiales son ms premium.
Ich habe mir diesen Kopfhrer bestellt um die Umgebungsgerusche zu unterdrcke, die entstehen wenn meine Familie TV schaut. Leicht einfache Koppelung mit meinem Samsung J6 und auch mit meinem PC Schade nur, dass er sich nur mit 2 Gerten koppeln lsst, da ich zeitweise auch mein Tablett als Musikquelle nutze. Dann muss neu gekoppelt werden, was jedoch einfach mglich ist. Die Unterdrckung der Umweltgerusche ist gut, so dass das TV-Gert bereits bei relativ geringer Lautstrke bereits unhrbar ist. Das alles bei der bekannten Sennheiser Tonqualitt.
Habe die Kopfhrer seit ca. 2 Monate im Einsatz und bin sehr zufrieden! Insgesamt habe ich 5 Gerte verbunden und keine Probleme. Telefonieren funktioniert viel besser als mit meinen alten Kopfhrer. Ich werde sehr gut verstanden und das Umschalten von Musikhren funktioniert einwandfrei. Mit der Geruschunterdrckung bin ich nicht ganz zufrieden, hier fehlt mir aber der Vergleich mit Mitbewerber. Die App ist fr heutige Tage (iPhon) schon etwas drftig. Jedoch muss man sich nicht registrieren! Von mir eine klare Kaufempfehlung!
Die Tonqualitt ist fr den Preis (unter 200,-) ber alle Zweifel erhaben. Die App ist ein wenig inhaltsleer. Die Einstellung Neutral” ist fr alle Musikstile aber berragend, kein aufdringlicher Bass, keine schrillen Hhen, gleichmige Mitten, alles sauber ortbar und im positiven Sinne unaufdringlich, also auch ber lngere Zeit sehr gut vertrglich”. Nur Kinofilme stelle ich auf Film”, hier ist die Rumlichkeit noch mal hher und die Tiefen haben mehr wumms. Der Auflagedruck ist gut getroffen: stabiler Sitz ohne, auch bei langem Hren, unangenehm zu werden. Lediglich das Kunstleder der Ohrmuschel ist ber die Dauer etwas schwitzig. Was ich nicht wusste, deshalb erwhne ich es ausdrcklich, die Kopfhrer lassen sich NUR durch verdrehen der Ohrmuschel ausschalten. Wer diese also auf eine Halterung ablegen will, z.B. Kopf o.., hat Pech. Eine Anfrage bei Sennheiser hat mir dies leider besttigt, fr mich unverstndlich, dass es keine weitere Mglichkeit gibt. Da ich die KH gerne prominent” lagern wollte, bin ich nicht ganz zufrieden und noch unschlssig, ob ich die KH behalte.

I’ve so far used it half a dozen times and the sound quality is decent and battery life is pretty good.
It’s sensors are also pretty effective and not too sensitive.
PS – always do your own investigative work like reading up reviews and watching videos of product but, I would recommend this 🙂
Tolle Kopfhrer, mit spitzen NoiseCancelling. Brauche ich zu Hause eigentlich nie, da super geschlossene Over Ear Kopfhrerso gut wie jeglichen Schall bereits konstruktionsbedingt dezimizieren.
Top Klang und absolut laut genug! Die Aufbeaahrung ist auch super, ist zwas kein rundum Hard Case aber prima gemacht und schtzt die Kophrer sehr gut!
Telefonieren, Skypen, etc funktioniert einwandfrei. Habe bereits mehrfach nachgefragt und mit wurde jedes Ma eine ausgezeichnete Mikrofonqualitt bescheinigt.
Musik hren ist natrlich MEGA!
Einzig Fernsehen habe ich noch nicht probiert, mchte mit aber noch die Senneheiser Bluetooth Box zulegen.
Die Smatphone App macht auch einen sehr guten Eindruck!
Ich hatt auch schon Bose Kopfhrer (QC25) bin jedoch mit meiner Entscheidung vollauf zufrieden zu Sennheiser gewechselt zu sein!
Comfort: initially felt tight but became more comfortable with frequent use
Sound: Signature sennheiser sound with proper soundstage and instrument separation. Wish the max volume was a bit higher but was prepared for it after reading other reviews. ANC is decent
Cons: lack of USB C port (microUSB is dated now since all flagship devices use type C) and bluetooth connectivity – annoying as it doesnt name the devices properly (it refers to every device as phone1 or phone 2)
I already own Bose QC235 and Plantronics Voyager Focus. The PXC 550-II offer the best music experience amongst all. Each and every note is reproduced impeccably. The controls too are very intuitive and it connects to Windows 10, Android and iOS devices with ease. The battery life too is great. The call quality is excellent, and the inbuilt microphones deliver crisp sound at the other end of the line.
The only drawback is the sweating in the ear caused by over half an hour of continuous use. However this is a common problem with all the over-ear headphones I have used.
Der Kopfhrer kommt in einer sehr guten Box und macht einen hochwertigen Eindruck. Die Inbetriebnahme ist unkompliziert. Die Tonqualitt ist aus meiner Sicht hervorragend. Bei der Bluetooth-Kommunikation mit dem Smartphone hakt es dann und wann. Die Rauschunterdrckung knnte m.E. besser sein. Die Standzeit des Akkus ist sehr gut. Insgesamt bin ich zufrieden mit diesem Kauf und empfehle den Kopfhrer weiter.
Me refiero a que, si jugueteando con la app de Sennheiser en el mvil tocis (es legtimo hacerlo, claro, pero luego hay consecuencias inesperadas) el apartado “Ajustes del dispositivo” y a continuacin permits “Smart pause” (que entiendo es lo que permite detener la reproduccin al levantar el auricular derecho, bsicamente), entraris en un mundo de incomprensin absoluto. Donde, siendo cierto que se puede detener la reproduccin de ese modo, tambin habris de sufrir cortes injustificados de la reproduccin a poco que os movis, giris la cabeza u os levantis parea hacer no s qu. Muy raro todo, y muy frustrante porque no se entiende…
Esperando estaba ya a que vinieran a recoger los auriculares los de Celeritas cuando, dndole vueltas al asunto, repar en que, al recibir los auriculares, y antes de hacer nada con la app, funcionaban de cine, por lo que volv sobre mis pasos, cancel el “smart pause” y… voil! Ni un problema ms hasta ahora. Todo perfecto.
Y si con estos auris todo va perfecto, quiere decir que lo vas a gozar. De verdad. No son de 10, pero s de 9,5 en relacin calidad/precio.
Zum Joggen, im Gym (grad nicht dank sch.. Corona…), auf Reisen im Flugzeug, zu Fu beim Einkaufen und am Ende des Tages auch im Bett bei einer schnen abendliche Serie, oder Film auf dem Tablet.
Als ehemaliger Musiker mit einem guten Gehr ausgestattet, gehre ich jedoch nicht zu den Leuten, denen es nicht “neutral” genug sein kann im Klang.
Etwas “punch” und Bass bei einer realistischen Wiedergabe von Mitten und Hhen macht mich glcklich und DAS kann der PXC-550ii wie kein anderer von mir erlebter Bluetooth Kopfhrer mit ANC Funktion.
Er trgt sich auf meinem relativ groen Kopf noch angenehmer als zuletzt der Sony xm3 und natrlich deutlich angenehmer als ein Kopfhrer der B&W Serie (ich hatte sie fast alle).
Das ANC gefllt mir deshalb so gut, weil es a) zu 89% an das ANC von Sony rankommt und b) es absolut keinen “Taucherglockeneffekt” gib, was wirklich berraschend angenehm ist!
Das mehr oder weniger alle Kopfhrer dieser Gattung mit viel Plastik daherkommen ist Fakt.
Wre Vollleder sicherlich anmutender und sehr geschmeidig fr die Ohren, so empfinde ich die Ohrpolster des 550ii als sehr weich, auch nach lngerem tragen nicht unangenehm.
Im Zwischenfazit:
– Klang: fr diese Preisklasse und Gattung an Kopfhrern das bisher Beste, was ich hren durfte.
-Tragegefhl: fr meinen Kopf (bei 190 Krpergre nicht der Kleinste) hervorragend.
Was mir an den Sennheiser PXC 550ii nicht gefllt:
Bei Verbindungen mit zwei Gerten, in meinem Fall Mobiltelefon und PC, springt die Verbindung zuerst “klug” aufs Telefon um, sobald zB. eine Benachrichtigung (das kann push, WA, oder Text sein) reinkommt, findet dann jedoch nicht mehr zurck, zur ursprnglich Verbundenen Quelle, dem PC.
Ein weiteres Beispiel:
Auf dem Tablet einen Film schauend, mit den Kopfhrern verbunden, so darf ich das Mobiltelefon nicht in die Hand nehmen und anfangen dran rumzuspielen, denn sofort wrde das Signal auf das Telefon umspringen und ich knnte den Film auf dem Tablet nicht mehr weiterhren, ohne Bluetooth auf dem Handy komplett auszuschalten.
Die Firmware ist derzeit nur ber ein IOS Gert mit 13.1 oder lter, sowie ber jegliche Andoird Gerte zu aktualisieren. In meinem Fall kein Problem. Kann sicher irritierend sein, wenn man zB. nur ber ein aktuelles IOS Gert verfgt.
Die restlichen Werte bzg. Gewicht, Akkulaufzeit, Ladezeit (micro usb. ja und? ) stimmen mit den ofiziellen Angaben berein.
FAZIT:
Der Sennheiser PXC 550ii wrde fr mich den Preis des “besten” BT/ANC Kopfhrers gewinnen, besonders zu dem derzeitigen Kampfreis von derzeit 175 Euro, wenn diese unbersichtlichen Verbindungs-Hin-und-Hers nicht wren.
Ein Kopfhrer, den man sich anschauen (hren) sollte, grad, wenn man glaubt da kann es doch nichts Gutes mehr geben neben den Sonys/Bose/B&W s etc.
Ho voluto provare delle cuffie per via dell’utilizzo intensivo casa-lavoro dove gli auricolari TWS con ANC mostrano i loro limiti (durata batteria). Pertanto questa pi che una recensione sar un confronto con gli auricolari TWS che io attualmente considero i migliori in assoluto, i Huawei Freebuds Pro che sto usando ora; migliori anche dei Sony wf-mx3 che ho venduto dopo aver provato i Freebuds Pro (Freebuds Pro superiori in tutto: audio musicale, telefonico, ANC, funzionalit, comodit, durata batteria e sono grossi la met).
Sennheiser PXC 550 II, indubbiamente dove stravincono la batteria e la praticit di utilizzo non dovendole continuamente riporre nel Case per caricare. Non so dire quanto realmente durino ma ci faccio almeno due giorni di utilizzo, mentre le Freebuds Pro (4.5H con ANC) devo ricaricarle pi volte al giorno. Anche la qualit delle 550 II ovviamente migliore, in particolare il suono risulta leggermente pi aperto e con bassi pi corposi. Ma ho detto “leggermente”, in effetti passare dalle cuffie agli auricolari non mi provoca nessun fastidio, segno che la differenza minima e spesso non l’avverto proprio, al punto che quando passo agli auricolari per uscire di casa o fare sport, mi chiedo se vale la pena tenere in testa dei padelloni come sono le cuffie 550! Pur considerando che in realt le 550 sono sicuramente al top come comodit, con TWS da 5gr che semplicemente non ti accorgi di averli indossati ( se non ti infastidiscono gli in-ear) non c’ paragone, senza parlare dell’ingombro e della “vistosit” se li usi fuori casa. Inoltre le sto usando in novembre, e gi cos dopo un po’ sudano le orecchie e la pressione sulle orecchie, per quanto leggera, diventa fastidiosa.
Confronto 550 II Freebus Pro:
Caratteristica importante per me l”ANC: bhe c’ poco da dire le 550 II funzionano discretamente ma Freebuds vincono nettamente nonostante le dimensioni minime (da non credere…).
Qualit audio telefonica 550 II: ottima sia in luoghi silenziosi che rumorosi, pi o meno allo stesso livello delle Freebuds Pro, anche se con caratteristiche leggermente diverse secondo i vari casi.
Funzionalit. Entrambe hanno la caratteristica (ottima e indispensabile per me) di connettersi con due dispositivi contemporaneamente ma anche qui vincono le Freebuds, semplicemente perfette mai un problema, mentre le 550 II spesso fanno casino fermando l’audio del dispositivo in uso, passando a quello non in uso, cosa abbastanza fastidiosa al punto che mi tocca disattivare il BT non in uso.
Altri difetti delle 550 II non riscontrabili con le Freebuds Pro sono:
L’attacco cuffie archetto spesso scricchiola fastidiosamente.
L’opzione di spegnimento automatico togliendo le cuffie totalmente inutilizzabile: parte continuamente da solo con cuffie indossate fermando la musica e mettendo in pausa le telefonate: va per forza disattivato e pertanto bisogna ricordarsi di spegnere le cuffie ogni volta che si tolgono.
Lo spinotto di ricarica Micro-USB davvero scodo e obsoleto ( Freebuds Pro hanno Type-C e ricarica Wireless ).
L’app Android di supporto non rileva correttamente il livello di carica. Rimane fermo e non si adegua nemmeno riavviando l’app.
In pratica, per me, gli unici motivi per usare le 550 II sono principalmente la comodit della durata batteria che ci consente di toglierle e metterle facilmente senza doverle riporre continuamente nella scatoletta per ricaricarle. La qualit musicale invece, per quanto leggermente migliore, a mio avviso non giustifica la scomodit di usare delle cuffie; per quanto comode, non c’ confronto.
Difetti Freebuds non riscontrabile con le 550II:
Il case si scarica del 10% al giorno senza utilizzo (spero risolvano con gli aggiornamenti).
Mancanza di una equalizzazione nell’App di supporto.
I bought these to replace my aging MM 550-X headphones and I’m not disappointed. Battery life is great and with Bluetooth, USB and “normal” audio cable there’s plenty of connection options available.
I’d prefer a proper on/off switch rather than the ear-piece rotation these use, and after a couple of hours wear with glasses they can be a little uncomfortable. Maybe this will change over time.
Overall, can’t recommend these enough, already trying to persuade my wife she needs a pair.
Das ist und war nie 349 wert. Inzwischen, um die 190, kann man sie aber gut empfehlen. Sie sind in allem irgendwie solide. Die Mikrofonqualitt ist sogar sehr gut und empfehlenswert z.B. auch frs Home Office. Der Klang ist recht neutral, manchmal etwas spitz, aber insgesamt gut. Die Kopfhrer sind sehr leicht und angenehm zu tragen, wenn man keine bergroen Ohren oder einen bergroen Kopf hat. Die Verarbeitung ist ebenso in Ordnung. Das ANC ist (aktuell) das beste was Sennheiser zu bieten hat – und dennoch haben hier Sony und Bose die Nase vorne. Die Batterielaufzeit ist sehr gut und deutlich besser, als beispielsweise bei den Momentum 3. Die Touchbedienung funktioniert ordentlich und das Case ist ebenso ganz gut.
Es gibt aber auch Kritikpunkte: Die App funktioniert aktuell unter iOS nicht korrekt und ein Firmware Update kann nur mit iOS 13.2 oder lter bzw. mit einem Android Gert gemacht werden – sonst nicht! Auerdem ist Mikro USB als Anschluss wirklich nicht mehr zeitgem und war es auch letztes Jahr schon nicht mehr. Auerdem ist die Maximallautstrke im Vergleich zu vielen anderen Kopfhrern relativ “leise” – das war bei der ersten Generation schon so und knnte den ein oder anderen stren.
Fr unter 200 geht das Gesamtpaket aber wirklich in Ordnung und verdient sich 4 Sterne. Fr den ursprnglich verlangten Preis bei Marktstart wren es aber nur 3 Sterne gewesen.
Dopo qualche mese di uso intenso e costante di queste cuffie Wireless BT posso solo che tesserne le lodi, specialmente per i seguenti aspetti:
USO UFFICIO
in questo periodo di lavoro agile per molti, queste cuffie le ho scelte dopo un po’ di confronti e sono delle compagne di lavoro irrinunciabili oramai. Connessione simultanea di PC e telefono perfetta, gestione delle chiamate, integrazione con i vari programmi di VideoCall sostanzialmente perfetta e funzionale grazie specialmente al touchpad sul padiglione DX. Microfono preciso e chiarissimo.
Per nulla stancanti: 8-10 ore filate e non ti accorgi nemmeno di averle addosso.
ASCOLTO PURO:
il palcoscenico sonoro preciso, ampio, con la riduzione del rumore adattiva non si ha il minimo disturbo di sottofondo elettronico che pu eventualmente notarsi con la NR al massimo.
Con ascolti di musica classica in formato LossLess un piacere puro. Ottime anche per elettronica e rock. Se si cerca una cuffia BoomBass non sono il prodotto da cercare, anche se con l’equalizzazione Club il suono decisamente spinto sui bassi e molto ampio. La precisione sonora sempre preservata con qualsiasi delle equalizzazioni preimpostate sull’App.
IN MOBILITA’:
leggere, comode e con riduzione del rumore efficace (non al top assoluto ma lavora benissimo sulle basse frequenze). Il microfono ad array lavora benissimo nell’eliminare i disturbi ambientali e l’interlocutore sente la voce chiarissima senza disturbi esterni.
Facili da usare, transparent mode comodissimo (si deve bloccare la musica eventualmente, ma per me non un problema).
PUNTI D’ATTENZIONE:
bisogna indossarle bene altrimenti pu capitare che con qualche movimento della testa la cuffia percepisca come se venisse tolta e quindi mette in pausa musica o, peggio, chiamate (capitato un paio di volte, basta regolarle bene con l’archetto superiore).
Il touchpad sensibile il giusto, ma visto che ci si dimentica di averle addosso per la loro comodit, pu capitare che lo si tocchi per sbaglio, facendo un po’ di confusione 🙂

Now, the sound quality is better than the HD 440 Bluetooth one. However, in India there is one huge issue because of the fans we use in India. If you live in a room where you have a ceiling fan and you majorly use this headphone. Then there will be an ANNOYING WIND NOiSe. There are tiny holes in the ear cup outside which I believe causes noise when in windy conditions. I know this improves sound quality but this is a major flaw for me.
I used this in the gym and other noisy areas. The noise cancelling works well.
The sound quality is the best I have heard so far.
DONT BUY IF YOU HAVE A CEILING FAN.

-Would have loved more controls in the app but still not bad.
-Sound quality is just premium, some might find it lowfi, but the cans support aptX. The highs are best in class, great bass not thumping like sony but still good, lows and instrument separation is out of this world. Sound stage is studio like
-Build screams top end. Leather plush cups, perfect and comfortable cabin size and so lightweight you won’t even notice for almost 10 hrs. Design is just out of the park
– touch controls are great, the feedback and the responsiveness is great. Ear shaped cups are just a plus
– noice cancellation not the greatest but still good. 2 levels of them but still can’t complain too much as these are well below the competition in price. Anti wind setting is good
-twist to switch on and off or use the switch
-Call quality is crisp, really good and this is where it takes the lead in the competition
To summarise, Sennheiser is on the top of its game here. If the things I mentioned are what you’re looking for, go for them. You won’t find anything better at this price with good ratings.
These are so close to being the perfect noise cancelling headphones. Biggest chink in the armour is the low volume of these headphones when playing music… It’s like sennheiser limited the volume output on purpose… If not for this these are almost the perfect cans…. to get.
I tried several makes before deciding on the Sen 550/2’s…. Sony XM4’s sounded great but could not get comfy in them, same with the Sen Momentums and Bose 700’s. These are made for travel and it shows…. Comfort is A1 and looks wise, not so dull as the Sony’s that in my opinion look slightly Crightons head out of Red Dwarf.
Sound quality in these is very good, not a huge racing bass but that’s fine for me, its a wide soundstage with good separation of instruments…very natural.
Case is only ok if that’s important for you, needs to be hard for travel really, and it uses Micro USB rather than USB-C which is a pain but not a show stopper for me.
For me travel headphones need to be comfy, have good noise cancellation and have great sound quality and these give the best mix at the 200 price point i was at now. Very happy with them…

Yes, it’s no HD600 but perfectly fine for a pair of ANC headphones. I had the XM3 for more than a year and absolutely hated the sound ( but kept on telling myself it’s not that bad, ANC can’t sound better than this)
Don’t know, why people are rating it poorly. Other than the irritating micro USB, it’s a far better option than XM3/ XM4 ( never heard those, but going by online reviews) if you care one bit about audio.
Da ich bei Kundengesprchen gerne nur 1/5 der Strahlung eines Handys durch Bluetooth am Ohr habe, ist dieser Punkt auch erfllt. Also klare Kaufempfehlung. Wer aber auf das letzte Quntchen Klang achtet stellt fest: der Focal kann hher hinauf und auch tiefer hinunter. Nicht nur das, denn wenn die tiefen Gitarrensaiten sogar ziemlich exakt hrbar vibrieren und nicht ganz so geschnt verflieen, wie das im Sennheiser klingt, dann lie mich das leider zweifeln ihn zu behalten. Dasselbe bei den Hhen. Also … wer einen sehr netten Noise Cancel Hrer kaufen mchte, der klanglich weit ber dem Radio-Einheitsbrei toll klingt und der auch super auf dem Kopf sitzt, der sollte sich den Sennheiser holen. Man gibt ihn nicht mehr.
Totalmente recomendables.
O som tem uma assinatura que favorece as frequncias mdia e alta, ao invs das baixas (graves), como a maioria dos fones no mercado. O que um ponto alto, pra mim.
Destaque para a leveza e conforto, se comparado com fones da mesma categoria de outras marcas, que costumam sem mais robustos e mais pesados.
O cancelamento de rudos bom, mas fica pra trs da tecnologia da sony.
O carregamento extremamente rpido e a bateria dura bastante (entre 20/30 horas).
O aplicativo no tem muito recurso, nesse quesito fixa bem atrs da sony.
O preo ainda est alto, se comparado com fones da mesma categoria de outras marcas.
Ho seguito anche questo secondo modello che sembra abbia risolto i problemi del primo e dopo una lunghissima serie di confronti e recensioni l’ho acquistato, la scelta era tra questa cuffia, la Sony wh-1000xm3 (ritenuta la migliore del segmento) e la Bose nc 700.
Partiamo dal presupposto che quello che stavo cercando erano delle cuffie dall’estrema pulizia del suono e sapevo che Sennheiser era una garanzia molto di pi di Sony che nell hi-fi non mai stata eccelsa (fino a qualche anno fa) ma le Sony ancora non mi convincevano perch, hanno dei bassi troppo pieni a mio avviso e a volte invadenti, sono troppo grosse, hanno pochi tasti fisici (solo 1) e possono connettersi solo ad un dispositivo per volta. Le Bose invece sono le pi belle del lotto, quelle con la cancellazione del rumore migliore e maggiormente regolabile ma anche le pi costose, con uno spettro sonoro abbastanza flat ma che stato fortemente criticato per la mancanza di profondit.
Quindi eccomi tornato sulle Sennheiser ed ecco tutto quello che ho capito a riguardo e soprattuto perch sono arrivato quasi a pensare di renderle e prendere le Sony e perch non lo far.
Le Pxc 550 ii sono delle cuffie esteticamente bellissime, estremamente eleganti e comode, leggere ed ergonomiche, dalla costruzione Premium (lo sottolineo perch ho letto in molte recensioni che sembrano cheap FALSO) hanno tre tasti fisici (switch riduzione rumore a tre vie off auto on, tasto assistente vocale (tutti dicono Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant, la verit che io trovo solo Alexa nell’app, e lo switch per spegnere il bluetooth) e poi un enorme pad per i controlli touch dalla discreta funzionalit, sia chiaro funziona molto bene ma a volte partono comandi involontari, bisogna farci l’abitudine.
Veniamo ai punti di forza: La resa acustica. Unico e fondamentale pregio di queste cuffie, ogni suono dove dovrebbe essere ed il livello di dettaglio encomiabile, tutto il resto scende in secondo piano.
Veniamo ora ai tasti dolenti e alla mia esperienza: la cuffia arrivata con il firmware 1.0, “e che ci frega” vi chiederete, a quanto pare questo aggiornamento non compatibile con l’app per iOS 13.4. E di l capite bene che sono partite le prime gastime, ma non ho mollato in giro sul web ho scoperto dell’esistenza di un aggiornamento firmware e che le cuffie erano normalmente funzionanti con dispositivi meno aggiornati, fatto questo quindi la cuffia diventata perfettamente compatibile, e ho potuto sfruttare gli incredibili vantaggi dell’app…. pochi… molto pochi…
1) Non presente un vero e proprio equalizzatore, mancanza assoluta per cuffie di questo calibro, presente per solo sulle Sony in maniera degna e completamente assente sulle bose
2) Non possibile modificare l’intensit della riduzione attiva del suono. possibile invece sulle bose
3) Non possibile o almeno non ho ancora capito come fare per scegliere Siri come assistente vocale anzich Alexa
4) Manca una modalit trasparenza con la musica attiva, quando la inserirete facendo un doppio tap sul padiglione destro la musica verr stoppata ed il volume ambientale aumentato, a differenza di Sony e Bose. (Potrebbe essere inserita con un aggiornamento)
E allora vi starete chiedendo perch abbia scelto queste cuffie, cos poco famose e con tutti questi problemi rispetto alle molto pi blasonate Sony e Bose, forse perch stato come un colpo di fulmine, un feeling che non si pu spiegare se non si prova, erano le cuffie che facevano per me sebbene con qualche compromesso
Facendo il punto sono Cuffie dal suono cristallino, bassi non invadenti, riduzione attiva del rumore ottima ma non personalizzabile, comode leggere e belle, sebbene abbiano quei “ma” che non te la fanno consigliare ad occhi chiusi, in primis l’applicazione, non degna di cuffie di questo calibro.

***AGGIORNAMENTO***
Fate attenzione al fatto che queste cuffie come molte di fascia alta hanno un’impedenza elevata, ergo via jack avranno un volume molto ridotto e prima di impazzire come ho fatto io per trovare la causa sappiate che questa, la soluzione comprare un amplificatore da interporre tra la fonte audio e le cuffie (io suono la chitarra ecco perch mi servono anche via cavo)
Fr 5 Sterne mu aber auch alles andere stimmen:
– Die Auflagen der Ohrpolster sind nicht optimal: meine Haut wird, auch bei Zimmertemperatur, feucht darunter
– Der Druck auf die Ohren ist etwas zu stark, das macht sich bei mir ab ca. 1 Std. leicht unangenehm bemerkbar (aber noch ok.)
– Autostop beim Kopfhrerabziehen ist eine schne Sache. Bei mir reagiert das aber leider schon beim Ghnen oder Naseputzen, musste es wieder deaktivieren (habe allerdings auf Nachfrage von Sennheiser bereits einen Tipp bekommen, den ich noch ausprobieren mu)
Infoversumnis meinerseits und daher ohne Auswirkung auf die Bewertung: ich hatte gehofft, man kann Transparenz schalten UND gleichzeitig Musik hren. so dass man z.B. damit Autofahren kann (Auskunft Sennheiser: das ist mit dem Modell MOMENTUM 3 Wireless mglich). Noch besser wre es, wenn man dann getrennt die Lautstrken von Umgebung und Musik regeln knnte (wird an die Entwicklung weitergeleitet).
Alles in allem ein super Kopfhrer, den ich jedem, fr den Klangtreue von Bedeutung ist, empfehlen kann. Wer Boom-Ba und crispe Hhen unabhngig von der Qualitt des Audiomaterials sucht und nicht wissen will, wie sich mp3 mit 128 kbps klangtreu anhrt, sollte hier lieber nicht zugreifen.
Edit: I found them best to be paired with good source (hi-res FLAC, DSD files), software (Audirvana) and DAC (Audioquest Cobalt). They deliver spacious, well balanced and very enjoyable listening experience. On its own streaming spotify via BT from phone, honestly not so good.
The sound & comfort is what matters to me the most. I wanted a change after a few years with AKG50BT which are awesome pair of dynamic on ears. I was surprised early these Senheisers did not impress me in the beginning so much. But after a month or so they started to shine. I got used to rather smooth, clear and spacious presentation they deliver. Whilst AKG might be more punchy, here everything sounds as it should and I can listen to them long hours without my ears being tired at all. The wearing comfort is very good as well. Touchpad controls are weird in beginning, but fine after some time. I am not sure about NC power as these are my first of this kind, but it is enough for street noise. I mainly use them for office work, where it is off. Battery lasts for a week of heavy use (20+ hours), with NC on it would be less. I do not care about any other features, I set EQ on Director mode – Rumble as I like little more base feeling and that’s it. I recommend them a lot.

I think bringing over the classic Sennheiser subtle sound to the 550s might have been a mistake; in travel situations, with the bustle and crunch of the world around you, a weightier, meatier, more encapsulating sound performs better. Sony’s WM-1000xM3 is a slightly less musical sound but much more involving and satisfying on the move: the soundstage is much bigger and more robust, both are pacey headphones but the Sony’s deliver that pace and pop much more completely.
Build quality on the Sennheisers is good, though a little plasticy in presentation. They’re comfortable for hours at a time too. Battery life is mediocre compared to the Sonys. The one major flaw is in the touch controls; the implementation here is dire. You will constantly accidentally skip and repeat and pause your music.
If you love the Sennheiser sound then you might find that these are a better option for you, certainly the opposite extreme in equivalences from both Beats and Bose sound blunt in comparison. It’s hard though to pretend that the all round excellent of the Sony option doesn’t exist.
UPDATE
A recent firmware update (Summer 2020) has improved the on/off and the automatic connection. That all works really slickly now; twist on, twist off. Connects instantly and reliably.

The Bose second connection keeps dropping/cycling many times per hour, and when it does it mutes the line makes an announcements and then a few seconds later reconnects making another announcement. Hence it cuts you off from a conference call for 15-20 secs a time. When its not doing this the mute button only works for certain apps’ which means you have to be in front of your device (or out of your pocket) if you want to mute/ unmute to speak on just about all the app’s I used. Together these drawbacks meant I returned the Bose. Thankfully the PCX550 II is ok with this, its not perfect by any means but 100x better. The mute works well by running your finger completely across the right ear can and on the laptop it comes up with the same mute microphone icon as doing it on your keyboard. The connection doesn’t drop out either but its true that my webex/sametime/skype apps are a pain sometimes making their own mind up which device they are pumping the audio through. I don’t think this is the headphones fault. The noise cancelling is ok, not as good as Bose but ok, gets rid of a lot of noise around me. The app is ok, about the same as Bose, nothing to write home about. The on/off function by turning the right ear can is a bit sensitive if you are just taking them off for a bit, a slight twist does turn them off, this should be less sensitive really. They are more comfortable than the Bose for a big headed/big eared person like me. Hope this helps you to try and make up your mind. I spent ages trying both devices and this is the one I will stick with.

Ich habe Kopfhrer gesucht, die mich in Alltagssituationen vor mancher unliebsamen Geruschen ,,schtzen,,.
Um fair zu bleiben, ich habe nur ein, zwei Kopfhrer mit Geruschunterdrckung in einem Geschft getestet, und wurde jetzt nicht umgehauen von der Funktion. Geruschunterdrckung heit eben nicht geruschlos.
Fr meine Zwecke reicht die Funktion mehr als aus…
– Im Bro sich unterhaltende Kollegen – kaum zu hren.
– Straenlrm – schn gedmpft
– Ruhige Umgebung (Couch, Spielezimmer was auch immer) zum Musik hren – absoluter Wahnsinn! Wie komplett von der Welt abgeschirmt.
Zum Telefonieren sollen die Kopfhrer hervorragend sein. Keine Kunden haben gemerkt, dass ich ber die Kopfhrer mit ihnen telefoniere. Das finde ich schon sehr auffallend – ich bin nmlich kein Freund, der gerne so telefoniert. Noch schlimmer finde ich es, wenn mein Gegenber ein ,,billiges,, Gert benutzt und ich mich von dem Rauschen rgern lassen darf.
Zum Klang ber Spotify bin ich unglaublich beeindruckt. Ich habe meine ,,Standart-Lieder,, und bei denen hre ich neue Tne/Instrumente heraus, diese habe ich vorher nicht wahrgenommen. Das hat mich so sehr berrascht, dass das schon der Hauptgrund war, die Kopfhrer zu behalten.
Tragekomfort erwarte ich nichts anderes in dieser Preisklasse – ich habe die Kopfhrer ab und an 3 bis 4 Std durchgehen auf dem Kopf und verspre kein Drcken oder hnliches. Absolut top.
Auch hier Fairerweise zu erwhnen, habe ich kleine Ohrmuscheln. Ich kann hier die Kritik durchaus nachvollziehen – glcklicher Weise betrifft es mich nicht.

They are well packaged and come with a hand circle carry case. The case is a little thicker then I would have liked, but it’s still small enough that you would notice it in your bag.
Style is one of the best-looking headphones in this ANC travel category with them all black headband and side logo/sliver around the can.
Comfort is excellent they have very soft earcups where I’ve had no issues with sweating. The headband has some decent flex for larger heads without too much clamping force. A well-padded headband is also provided. The weight is excellent, and they aren’t too heavy.
Charing is done via a micro USB which is a shame and not USB-c, but I didn’t find I was waiting too long for them to charge. Once changed, they provided 20+ hours of use.
The Microphone is excellent and worked well on business calls or just when chatting with my family. The noise-cancelling helps to ensure in windy conditions, my voice was still evident.
Sound is excellent on these with a decent base. If anything they lack a little treble.
Connectivity was fast over Bluetooth, and it detected without any problems in the App. In there, you can control the headphones and tweak them to your personal preference.
Overall a good pair of travel headphones.
Der Kopfhrer trgt sich gut. Den Klang kann man mit Hilfe der App einstellen. Die Bedienung ist gut gelst mit der Touchbedienung und der App.
Telefoniert habe ich mit Hilfe des Kopfhrers noch nicht. Die Geruschunterdrckung ist gut.Rundherum ein guter Kopfhrer, wrde ihm mir wieder kaufen auch fr den nicht gerade gnstigen Preis.
Weiter habe ich auch den Beyerdynamic Lagoon angehrt und angeschaut, der Kopfhrer hat mir auch gut gefallen, allerdings gefiel mir der Sennheiser letztendlich doch besser.
Nun zum Sennheiser PXC 550-II: Der Kopfhrer ist leicht, sitzt gut und nach ein paar Minuten sprt man ihn kaum noch auf dem Kopf, was sehr angenehm ist. Musik und Hrbcher hren sich wirklich sehr gut an und die App ist schnell heruntergeladen und ist einfach zu bedienen.
Gerne htte der Kopfhrer fr den hohen Preis noch etwas feiner gearbeitet sein knnen und die Ohrpolster knnten noch weicher sein (wie beim Sennheiser Momentum 3). Das ist allerdings Jammern auch sehr hohem Niveau.
Was noch wichtig ist: Die Ohrmuscheln sind wirklich nur fr kleine Ohren gefertigt. Ich bin 1,60 gro und habe eher kleine Ohren. Sobald ich nur ganz kleine Ohrringe anhabe, empfinde ich es schon als strend. Ohne Ohrringe sitzen die Sennheiser perfekt, nichts wackelt oder drckt. Alles perfekt.
Aktuell bin ich sehr zufrieden und werde die Kopfhrer behalten. Falls sich an meinem ersten, guten Eindruck etwas ndert, gibt es ein Update.

Selbst die Verpackung ist recht hochwertig und es macht Spa, die Kopfhrer auszupacken. Der Kopfhrer ist klassisch matt schwarz und die Materialwahl passend neutral elegant dazu gewhlt. Ich verstehe den Ausdruck Business Kopfhrer” immer nicht so ganz, da ich glaube, dass ein Groteil der gutverdienenden Business Menschen” in Mittel- oder Oberklassewagen fahren und gar nicht die Zeit dazu haben, hochqualitativ Musik zu hren. Was ich aber finde ist, dass die Kopfhrer trotz ihrer Gre nicht negativ auffallen und selbst ein Business Mensch wohl hier problemfrei diese Kopfhrer tragen knnte. Als Freund klassischer Schnheit gefallen mir die Kopfhrer hervorragend! Aber auch das mitgelieferte Case ist toll und wirkt auch nicht gerade billig. Gerade die samtigen Seiten mit dem hervorragenden Reiverschluss sind toll. Die Hauptflche htte gerne auch aus einem anderen Material sein drfen, aber das ist schlussendlich Meckern auf sehr hohem Niveau. Fr mich alles richtig gemacht.

Der wohl mageblichste Punkt von allen! Mein erster Test bei Kopfhrern ist immer irgendetwas rockiges. Der einfache Grund dafr ist, dass viele gnstige Kopfhrer hier direkt ihre Schwchen verraten: verschwimmender Klang statt scharfer, differenzierter Klnge und Tne. Es geht eben nicht um die reine Bassschwche und zischende Hhen, sondern um ein Klangbild.
Private Investigations” von Dire Straits war mein Start, und der wurde vergoldet. Klarheit bis ins Letzte. Jedes Instrument, jeder Ton, jede Silbe des Sngers lsst sich heraushren. Die Gitarre ist klar — nicht nur beim einfachen Zupfen, sondern auch harschen Zerren an den Saiten exakt. Der Bass klar vernehmbar, aber nicht aufgedrckt oder angehoben. Das Klangbild ist super neutral und gerade bei diesem Lied ist das natrlich hervorragend. Es ist aber auch etwas, was man zulassen muss: von berall wird man getrimmt auf ein Muss an Bass. Ist Musik nicht immersiv, so kann die Musikanlage oder der Kopfhrer nicht gut sein. Da muss ich widersprechen: einmal darauf eingelassen, ist das super!
An Industry of Murder” von Graveyard war der nchste Test, um einen Gesamteindruck von den Kopfhrern zu bekommen. Das Lied ist nicht gerade ein besonders atmosphrisches Lied, aber macht dennoch mit guten Kopfhrern mehr Spa als mit schlechten. Auch hier enttuscht der Kopfhrer nicht.
Rolling in the Deep” von Adele war fr mich spannend, da ich hier zum ersten Mal bestimmte Dinge gehrt habe in dem Lied. Ganz am Anfang wird recht leise ein one two three four” angestimmt — nicht verbal, sondern mit einem Instrument als leise Betonung. Ein Detail, welches ich bisher noch nicht mitgenommen habe. Genauso die Przision vom Hall, der am Anfang in der Stimme zu hren ist. Viele Kopfhrer oder Lautsprecher geben dies als eine klare Stimme, vielleicht mit verschwimmendem Hall im Hintergrund wieder, aber der leichte und sehr differenzierte Hall ist hier gut abgebildet. Die Stimme ist entsprechend brilliant — Adele eben — und es macht Spa das Lied zu hren. Zugegeben: das sind Details und ich wrde mit anderen Kopfhrern, die das nicht so gut wiedergeben, wahrscheinlich immer noch Spa haben. Aber es sind Dinge, die zwischen diesen und gnstigeren Modellen differenzieren.
Billie Jean” von Michael Jackson. Ein Klassiker! Die Hhen sind scharf, vielleicht ein klitzekleines bisschen zu scharf. Aber auch das einzige Lied, bei dem ich das so empfand. Ansonsten spannende Details, die sich mir wieder offenbarten. Ich finde das schwierig in Worte zu fassen, aber es wird einfach in bestimmten Moment mehr Atmosphre oder Klarheit geschaffen, die man sonst einfach nicht so oder nicht so intensiv wahrnimmt.
Evil Dub” von trentemller. Nanu, wenn er will dann kann er aber durchaus so etwas wie pulsierenden Bass! Eine Frage des genutzten Dynamikumfangs, der Musikquelle. Zu Beginn sind so scharfe, hohe Gerusche in dem Lied, von denen man meint, dass sie bis ins Gehirn ziehen. Das gehrt irgendwie zu diesem Lied. Die Hhen, so schnalzig, kurz, intensiv sie auch sind, aber sie sind nie schmerzhaft und gehren fr mich genau so dorthin, wo sie sind. Der Bass treibt einen immer vorwrts, dumpf, fordernd. Die dumpfe Art des Basses gehrt aber zu dem Lied, nicht zu dem Makel der Kopfhrer.
Homeless” von Paul Simon, Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Das Lied wird ja mal immer gerne mal herangezogen, um die Sprach- und Gesangsprzision wiederzugeben. Es ffnet sich einem Bhne von Musikern, die einfach singen. Kein Instrument, einfach nur Kunst. Sie stehen nebeneinander, sie stehen vor einem, man versinkt in ihrem Gesang ohne Zweifel. Schliet man die Augen, kann man sich regelrecht vorstellen, wie man in einem groen, hohen Raum steht und vor einem auf der Bhne einfach gesungen wird. Mit Inbrunst. Nicht, dass die Musik absolut meins ist, aber ich konnte es durchgngig genieen und verstehe, warum dieses Lied gerne herangezogen wird.
Doin’ it Right” von Daft Punk. Hier sind wir wieder in der Bassabteilung, klar. Aber spannend dabei ist einfach die Gleichmigkeit — whrend viele Kopfhrer in einem etwas hheren Bass voll auftrumpfen und nach unten hin stark nachlassen, bildet hier der Sennheiser die richtig tiefen Tne erst richtig ab. Alles ist am richtigen Platz — die Hhen, die Stimme ordentlich. Auch bei dem Lied reichen weitaus gnstigere und einfachere Kopfhrer, um Spa zu machen. Aber mit dem Sennheiser geht eben auch noch ein bisschen mehr. Toll.
River Flows in You” von Yiruma, Luke Faulkner (2018). Man hrt mehr, als man mchte. Ein Knarzen vom Stuhl zwischendrin, eine Saite hrt sich fr mich ein klitzekleines bisschen daneben an. berhaupt — hat er das Lied nicht schon mal besser gespielt, oder wurde es von Luke Faulkner gespielt? Naja.
Herr, unser Herrscher” aus Johannes Passion von Johann Sebastian Bach, gespielt von Rias Kammerchor / Staats- und Kammerchor Berlin und der Akademie fr alte Musik, Berlin. Ich bin nicht der Klassikfan schlechthin, kann mir aber durchaus auch einmal etwas dahingehend anhren. Der Chor besticht durch absolute Klarheit: alle Zischlaute, verschiedene Positionen, Stimmlagen, einzelne Stimmen lassen sich differenzieren. Spannend.
Toccata and Fugue in D Minor” von Johann Sebastian Bach, gespielt von Simon Preston. Orgelspiele — Klarheit von der tiefsten bis zur hchsten Note. Orgelmusik war nie so meins — einfach aber alleine schon, weil es fr mich nie den Eindruck einfangen konnte, den es machte vor einer Orgel zu stehen, whrend ein Virtuose sie spielte. Mit den Sennheiser Kopfhrern kommt man schon ein gutes Stck nher.
Sunshine Live Vol 67″ ausgepackt. Bruch. Insgesamt eine Musikrichtung, auf die es nicht zwangslufig ankommt, um einen guten Kopfhrer zu beurteilen. Aber viele Bassfanatiker gucken eben auch einmal bei dieser Preiskategorie vorbei. Bei so neutralen Kopfhrern wird man dann wahrscheinlich enttuscht sein, aber einmal ausprobieren, was geht denn an Bass? Also ein passendes Album ausgepackt, was es einfordert! Grapevine” von Tiesto. Selten, dass Tiesto so Spa gemacht hat. Der Bass untermalt und treibt, die Mitten bleiben prsent. American Dream” von Sultan and Shepard. Durchaus hrbar, auch wenn mir das Original besser gefllt Magic” von KSHMR. Die Chipmunks Stimme tut ja beinahe weh. Ich erinnere mich langsam, warum ich sptestens nach einer Stunde diese Musikrichtung gegen etwas anderes tauschen muss. Kein herausforderndes Lied fr die Kopfhrer, dementsprechend solide Leistung. Repeat After Me” von Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. Schon eher wieder was fr mich und insbesondere ausgewogener Bass. Der Kopfhrer kann also, wenn er mit dem richtigen gefttert wird. Das ist aber Lied abhngig und wie sie abgemischt sind. Ein Boost ist ganz bewusst nicht gesetzt worden, die Kopfhrer sind neutral abgestimmt. Das heit aber nicht, dass er nicht auch tief kann.
Ich vermute, dass jemand, der Bass fr besonders wichtig hlt, nicht gengend immersive Basskonfrontation erfhrt. Ein Beispiel: Sail” von Awolnation hrt sich auf dem Kopfhrer okay an. Ich habe den Song auch schon an einer Teufel 5.1 Anlage mit groem Subwoofer und passendem Preset gehrt. Das sind zwei Welten — man kann mit dem richtigen Lautsprecher oder Kopfhrer und Preset daraus ein maximal immersives Erlebnis machen, dass nachhaltigen Eindruck macht. Bei manchen Liedern passt das auch hervorragend. Das erlebt man mit den Sennheiser Kopfhrern aber nicht. Das Lied verliert dadurch bei mir absolut an Interesse ber diese Kopfhrer! Dennoch wrde ich die Kopfhrer nicht eintauschen wollen. Vielleicht einfach ab und an mal lieber die Anlage aufdrehen und erleben — man muss ja nicht alles ber Kopfhrer hren.
Natrlich nur indirekt mit dem Klang zu tun hat die Lautstrke. Hier bin ich hier aber stark ambivalent und muss es erwhnen. In 95% der Flle hre ich bei den Kopfhrern auf maximaler Lautstrke! Das ist — je nach Lied — nicht einmal so, dass ich dies als lauter bezeichnen wrde. Bei den meisten Liedern entspricht das gehobener, aber nicht berlauter Musik. Einzig bei auf Maximum abgestimmten Alben (bspw. Die Sunshine Live CDs) ist die Musik lauter. Das geht aber natrlich auf den verwendeten Dynamikumfang und eher ein schlechtes Beispiel. Wer also mal so richtig Beschallung wnscht und sich ordentlich was auf die Ohren geben will, mag enttuscht sein. Auf der anderen Seite — und daher auch meine Ambivalenz — hatte ich bisher kein Bedrfnis, die Lautstrke weiter zu erhhen. Einzig: die Maximallautstrke entspricht meiner Ideallautstrke zu entsprechen.
-= Tragekomfort =-
Die Kopfhrer sind meiner Meinung nach sehr komfortabel. Sie sind gro genug, um ber die Ohren abzuschlieen und nicht zu schwer, um eine Last zu spren. Die Polster sind weich und dick, so dass es auch da keinerlei Probleme geben sollte. Nach lngerem Hren wird es dann doch auch ein bisschen warm unter den Kopfhrern. Nicht, dass das ber den Maen wre, allerdings knnte sich jemand, der besonders empfindlich auf so etwas ist, nach einer lngeren Hrsession den Drang verspren, den Kopfhrer wieder abzulegen.

Die App ist eine Kombination aus Presets fr den Klang, Akkuanzeige des Kopfhrers und Anzeige, ob nun die Geruschunterdrckung eingeschaltet ist oder nicht. Ende. Die Akkuanzeige habe ich auch ber das Handy selbst (bei mir Android) und ich wei auch ohne die App, ob nun die Geruschunterdrckung eingeschaltet ist oder nicht. Einzig die Preset Einstellung kann interessant sein fr jemanden, der etwas am Klang ndern mchte. Ich bin mit der neutralen Einstellung zufrieden, woraus sich fr mich weder Sinn, noch Mehrwert der App ergibt.
-= Bluetooth =-
Alle Musik, die ich gehrt habe, habe ich ber Bluetooth gehrt — mein Handy untersttzt die aptX-bertragungsformate, so dass es fr mich tatschlich ein Komfort darstellt zu kabelgebundenen Kopfhrern. Insbesondere wenn ich unterwegs bin, ist das die beste Lsung. Die Option jedoch, ein mitgeliefertes Kabel einzustpseln und auch ohne Akku oder ohne Bluetooth hren zu knnen, ist fr mich essentiell und beruhigend. Ich freue mich bereits auf das eine oder andere atmosphrische Spiel am Computer, sobald ich die Zeit dafr finde!
-= Noise Cancelling =-
Ich bin Naturwissenschaftler mit Bachelor- und Masterabschluss. Ich bin Techniker mit einer Handwerksausbildung. Ich bin Lehrer an einem Berufskolleg. Ich wei, auf welchen Verfahren und Ideen aktive Geruschunterdrckung (Active Noise Cancelling, ANC) beruht. Die Theorie ist ebenso bestechend, wie richtig: gute Geruschunterdrckung ist machbar. In der Praxis ist das wiederum gar nicht mal so frchterlich einfach, was zu zahlreichen mehr oder weniger guten Ergebnissen unterschiedlichster Hersteller gefhrt hat. Meine Erwartungen waren also da, aber nicht ber aller Maen. Und ich war sprachlos. Paradedisziplin fr die Kopfhrer ist Bahnfahren. Brummende Motoren, Anfahr- und Bremsgerusche, Gepolter ber die Gleise. Man schaltet die Geruschunterdrckung ein und es ist, als htte jemand beim Fernseher auf stumm geschaltet. Weg. Nur die Musik bleibt. Phnomenal! Wenn Gerusche durchdringen, dann sind das in aller Regel Stimmen oder andere hhere Frequenzen. Auch wenn die Geruschkulisse eine gewisse Lautstrke bersteigt, kommt das Gerusch noch gedmmt durch. Auch in Liedpassagen, die leise sind, kommt ein wenig durch. Aber insgesamt gesprochen und auch mit meinem technischen Hintergrund, den ich habe, muss ich sagen, dass ich doch sehr erstaunt bin, wie gut das System mittlerweile doch geworden ist. Fairerweise muss ich allerdings auch dazu sagen, dass sich meine bisherigen Erfahrungen auf Lesen von Rezensionen von anderen ANC Kopfhrern beschrnkt und ich jungfrulich an die Situation gegangen bin.
-= Fazit =-
Die Kopfhrer sind sehr gut! Das Klangbild ist neutral, was ich gut finde. Dennoch kann der Kopfhrer in allen Richtungen, wenn er soll oder will. Die Bedienung ist einfach und mit Bluetooth aptX und aptX LL ist der Kopfhrer bestens fr den kabellosen Genuss gerstet. Dennoch ist auch ein Kabel mit im Lieferumfang, wie auch ein hbsches Case. Die klassisch anmutenden Kopfhrer wagen nichts Groes in punkto Design, ecken aber durch diese Geflligkeit auch bei keinem an. Die Verarbeitung ist hochwertig und lsst auf viele Jahre Spa hoffen. Die Akkulaufzeit empfinde ich als mehr als ausreichend. Alles, was reell ber 10 Stunden hinaus geht ist mindestens ausreichend, hier wird noch einmal ein Vielfaches geboten. Die Geruschunterdrckung ist phnomenal gut und berzeugt mich auf ganzer Linie. Wenn man nach Minuspunkten suchen mchte, so ist es, dass die Maximallautstrke nicht besonders hoch ist. Fr Nerds lassen sich Alexa, Siri oder Hey Google integrieren. Auch, wenn ich Alexa Nutzer bin, so spreche ich nicht mit meinem Kopfhrer in der ffentlichkeit. Eine meiner Meinung nach eher unntze Funktion. Zusammengenommen macht der Kopfhrer meiner Meinung nach nahezu alles richtig. Zur Perfektion braucht es vielleicht noch ein wenig, aber man kommt weit ran. Nachteilig ist natrlich der Preis zu nennen, der ein ganz klar gehobenes Segment anspricht. Ich finde aber auch, dass bei dieser Preisklasse auch Emotionen und Designvorlieben ber einen Wert entscheiden. Punkte, die subjektiv sind. Technisch berzeugt er. Ist er es Ihnen wert?
Was waren meine wichtigsten Kriterien fr den perfekten Kopfhrer?
Ich brauchte einen Allrounder, der mich den ganzen Tag in der Arbeit begleiten kann. Mir war es zum einen wichtig, dass das NC solide funktioniert, da ich beruflich viel unterwegs mit Flugzeug & Bahn bin. Ich hre nicht immer auf volle Lautstrke, auch habe ich gerne die Kopfhrer einfach auf und geniee die Stille. Weiterhin sollte die Steuerung auch einigermaen gut funktionieren. Ich bin eigentlich kein Fan von Touch-Bedienungen, sondern mag noch den typischen analogen Knopf zum Drcken. Ja ich wei, die Steuerung dieser Kopfhrer ist auch in Touch-Elementen gebaut worden, aber ich muss sagen, dass Sennheiser dieses, trotz Touch, sehr gut umgesetzt hat. Auch war es mir wichtig, dass die Kopfhrer sich mit zwei Gerten gleichzeitig verbinden lassen (fr Arbeitshandy und Privathandy) und dieser zwischen dem Telefonieren und der Musik zwischen den Gerten hin- und herschalten kann. Natrlich musste der Klang — wenn man schon so viel Geld fr Kopfhrer ausgibt — auch mit den anderen Marken von Bose, Sony, B&O oder AT mithalten knnen. Zum Klang werde ich in dieser Rezension aber nicht viel sagen, da er einfach typisch Sennheiser ist — volumins, knackiger Bass und angenehme Hhen/Tiefen. Jeder der mal ein Sennheiser KH aufgehabt hat, wei was ich meine. Klang ist ein sehr subjektives Element und hier kann ich nur jedem empfehlen, der noch keine Sennheiser getestet hat, sich einfach ein Kopfhrer mal im Geschft anzuschauen. Mein letztes, fast fr mich wichtigstes Kriterium sind gute Mikrofone, da ich den Kopfhrer viel zum Telefonieren bentige und ich nicht zu einem anderen Headset greifen mchte. Mit dem letzten Kriterium dem Telefonieren habe sich brigens alle Vergleichsmodelle (oben aufgezhlt) echt schwergetan und fr mich war es immer ein Kill-Kriterium. Mit telefonieren meine ich auch nicht im stillen Raum, sondern wenn man unterwegs ist (z.B. U-Bahn, Bahnhof, Windgerusche, etc.).
Kurzum ich habe endlich ein Headset gefunden, was jedes Kriterium erfllt hat und ich bin mit den Kopfhrern mega Happy. Besonders die Kombination guter Klang mit guten Mikrofon habe ich bei allen anderen Marken die ich bis Dato ausprobiert habe vermisst. Entweder war der Klang gut, aber das Mikrofon war schlecht oder umgekehrt. Ich bin froh, dass die Suche jetzt ein Ende hat.
Eine Langzeiterfahrung kann ich noch nicht mit Euch teilen. Ich habe die Kopfhrer direkt nach Release (Nov 2019) gekauft und jetzt ca. zwei Wochen im Alltag getestet. Bis jetzt ist mir nichts Negatives aufgefallen und die Gesprchspartner geben mir als Feedback, dass Sie mich sehr gut und klar verstehen knnen — auch direkt in der Rush Hour an der Hauptstrae in Mnchen oder in der berfllten U-Bahn stehend. Auengerusche werden von den Teilnehmern zwar wahrgenommen, aber meine Stimme sticht wohl nochmal hervor, so dass es keine Verstndigungsprobleme gibt. Strkere Windgerusche beim Laufen werden von den KH ausgeblendet.
Als Negativ zu sehen ist natrlich der Micro-USB-Anschluss. Dem neuen Momentum 3 haben Sie auch ein USB-C-Anschluss gegnnt, sogar noch mit einem zustzlichen Adapter auf USB-A. Das fand ich richtig gut und ich habe gehofft, dass sie das bei den PXC II auch so machen. Mir fehlen bei dem Punkt wirklich etwas die Worte – das werde ich wohl nie begreifen, warum die Ingenieure von Sennheiser sich bei den PXC fr den alten Mikro-USB-Anschluss entschieden haben. Aber in Summe ist das fr mich kein Ausschlusskriterium und da ich in meiner Tasche eh immer ein Mikro-USB-Kabel dabei habe, ist dieser Punkt mir auch fast egal, wie ich das Ding letztendlich laden kann.
Kommen wir noch zur Sennheiser Control App. Mir gefllt die App vom Handling ganz gut und insbesonderes der eingebaute Equalizer holt nochmal richtig viel aus den KH heraus, je nachdem welche Musikrichtung man hrt. Auch hervorzuheben ist, dass der EQ nicht geffnet bleiben muss. Die EQ-Einstellungen werden direkte auf den Kopfhrer bertragen und bleiben konfiguriert. Was noch nicht so rund luft ist das Erkennen der Kopfhrer — manchmal muss ich die Kopfhrer oder die App neustarten, damit die sich gegenseitig erkennen. Bei den PXC ist die Firmware aktuell noch die 1.0.0. Ich hoffe, dass die Mngel beim nchsten Update behoben werden.
Mein Fazit
Ich kann diese Kopfhrer jedem empfehlen, die auf der Suche nach einem Kopfhrer sind, welche optimalen Klang, mit gutem NC und guter Sprachqualitt beim Telefonieren suchen. Touch menu on the lateral of the headphones is also great, built quality seems premium and in conclusion i can only recommend these headphones. One of the best Bluetooth v5 headphones one can buy in 2019.
I tested these (using Bluetooth) with a Samsung S10+ phone (because phones are many people’s music player of choice these days) and also a good quality stand-alone player, the Fiio M9. The M9 was also brought into play for wired playback.
I think it’s worth saying that – in my view – the worst thing you can do when you get a new piece of equipment like this is to immediately begin comparing it with the competition. I own three other sets of similarly priced headphones, but before doing any kind of A/B comparisons I lived with the new ones first. That way I’m deciding whether this particular bit of kit is good in its own right. When somebody buys something like this and spends 300 for the privilege, all that really matters is, “Is it worth what I paid?” I’ve said this before to anyone that will listen, and I’ll say it again now – if you like the kit that you’ve got, then don’t go looking for something better. The minute that you do that, you’re heading for frustration, disappointment, and a fast emptying bank account. Enjoy what you have, get your use out of it, and don’t even think about “upgrading” until the thing breaks.
Says the man with another ten pairs of headphones. I should listen to my own advice, and I never do. But that doesn’t mean I’m wrong.
Initial impressions (see photographs) were favourable. The one comparison I did make straight away was to check and see how the carrying case compared to others. The simple answer is that there’s barely anything between them, apart from Sennheiser’s own Momentum M2 which as you’ll see is half as thick again. If you’re packing a suitcase then you’ll gain nothing over the Bose QC35 or the Sony WH1000 XM3, but equally you’ll lose nothing either. I tend not to take the case when I go away, so this is less of an issue for me.
Taking the headphones out, the first thing that struck me was how light they feel and also how small the ear cups seemed. Putting them on I discovered that in fact they went over my ears just fine, but I did have to pull the cups away from the headband quite a bit in order to sit them far enough down my head. This is probably a good thing, because there was still plenty of room to go larger but it also means that if you have a tiny head then they won’t be flopping around. So far so good. Next thing to note is that opening the headphones up and rotating the ear cups switches them on. It’s an excellent idea, because you don’t need to keep checking if you remembered to turn them off after you’ve done. If they’re folded up or if the cups are flat – they’re off. There’s a problem, though. I went on holiday earlier in the year, and to save me having to pack my Sony headphones in my carry-on bag I turned up at the coach station with them round my neck. With these, that would leave the battery draining unless I wore them folded flat. Which you physically can’t do, because I’ve tried. Maybe I’ve missed something obvious, but I don’t think so. This is going to be a problem for me.
Oh… I’ve missed out an important step. The ‘phones come partly charged, but you should plug them into a charger straight away and get them to 100% using the supplied lead and a charger of your own choice. Sadly Sennheiser are still wedded to the idea of the Micro USB socket, despite everyone else changing to USB-C. It’s not a deal breaker, but USB-C is so much simpler to fit in dim light and it potentially charges faster as well.
Visually, they’re nice. The previous generation, the PXC 550s, had an awful silver band running round the ear cups which I thought made them look cheap and nasty. These have done away with the band and for me they are all the better for it, but looks are subjective and who cares what anybody else thinks? Put them on, and they’re very comfortable once adjusted. The pads are soft memory foam, and the headband is sufficiently padded so that us baldies aren’t bothered by bare metal or hard plastic on our skulls. I have a pair of (wired) Grado ‘phones which are so bad I had to buy a foam filled cover for them. No need with these. My wife thinks they are the most comfortable set she’s tried, so it’s not just me.
I paired them up easily to both my Samsung phone and my Fiio player. The voice prompt informed me that I had connected to “Phone 1” and then “Phone 2”. Quite why an MP3 player is described as “Phone 2” I don’t know, and although it makes no real difference to anything I would have expected Sennheiser to have gone with the word “device” instead. I connected to the Samsung in a room downstairs and then walked through a door and up a flight of stairs, through another door, and never lost connectivity even briefly. The Samsung is, I believe, equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, and it occurred to me that this might be the reason why the connection was so stable. So then I tried the same thing with the Fiio, which only has Bluetooth 4.2, and just to make things even more interesting I stuck the player in a drawer before I started walking away. Guess what? It worked just as well. And let’s be fair here, who do you know who insists on keeping their music player in a drawer, in another room, on another floor of the house when they’re listening to it? So if you’ve got a phone or an MP3 player in your pocket and you’re having trouble with it keeping a connection, then I’d say the problem is likely to be with the audio device rather than the headphones.
How do they sound? Look, I’m not one of those people who thinks that by using phrases like “recessed mids” and by saying that this or that is “forward”, you’ll be any the wiser as to how good they are. All I know is that these don’t sound too bassy and that everything is nice and clear. Nothing muffled, or distorted, which is exactly what I’m looking for in a pair of headphones. You need to realise that these are headphones meant for a very specific purpose, and should be judged as such. If you want to sit in a quiet living room, and your most important requirement is sound quality, then I can point you towards some wired headphones that will outperform these at half the price. That isn’t why you should be buying these. These are meant for people who need to block out background noise so that they don’t have to turn up the volume of their music to the point where they are risking deafness, in order to make out what they are listening to. You might be sat next to a huge fan in an office, or maybe you’re a frequent flyer or a regular user of public transport. Perhaps you like to sit out in your garden on a summers day and your house is next to a railway line, or maybe you walk to work along the side of a busy dual carriageway. This is why you need a pair of noise cancelling Bluetooth headphones. You don’t need them if you live in a detached house in the countryside, to listen to lo-fi podcasts about cookery or stand up comedy. What I’m saying is, if you’re using these for their intended purpose, the sound quality is more than acceptable. Excellent in fact.
For those who care about these things, the standard codec for playback is set at whichever is the highest supported by your machine. Mine is AptX, but also available are AptX Low Latency – which is meant to avoid audio lag while watching videos or movies for example – and AAC, which is a proprietary Apple codec. I don’t own any Apple equipment, so I can’t speak for AAC, but I watched YouTube videos on my phone with no problem at all, despite not even having the ‘low latency’ version available to me. The most basic codec is SBC and although I haven’t been able to test that either, past experience tells me that even that is indistinguishable from the rest when you’re sitting on the back of a coach trying to listen to Joni Mitchell as the driver changes up through all his gears and all the other passengers are talking.
I’ve seen some criticism regarding the lack of volume, and to an extent I would agree, although this varies from source to source and also the whole point of noise cancelling technology is to allow you to listen to music at a reasonable volume. At no point did I ever feel as if they weren’t loud enough, but it’s true that on my Samsung I had to turn the volume up slightly higher than usual. On my Fiio however, anything above 100 (out of 120 max) was too much. So I don’t think this is going to be a worry for me.
So, what about that noise cancelling? Well, it’s not class leading and there’s no point in pretending otherwise. You may be one of those people who likes to wear headphones on a flight with no music playing, in order to get a bit of well earned peace. If that’s you, then I have to tell you to look elsewhere. It isn’t that they are bad, far from it, but if this is your total priority then it would be unfair to suggest these are adequate enough. Sony still lead the field as far as I’m concerned, although you’re never going to eliminate all noise and you need to know that. If you are looking for your first ever pair of noise cancelling headphones, don’t expect total silence no matter which you buy. I tried the tumble dryer test, where I stood next to the machine as it was drying some noisy items, and the Sennheiser got rid of the lower frequencies while the Sony pair managed some of the more rattly bits as well. It still wasn’t silent, mind you. BUT, and here’s the good part, if you want these for listening only and you don’t sit with them switched on and nothing playing, something magical happens when the music starts. At first you’re thinking “Oh dear, I can still hear noises…” but the moment that the music kicks in it’s as if an extra layer of noise cancelling is added and all you can hear is Bob Dylan (other music acts are available).
There are other things to consider, before I make some more specific comparisons with the competition. If you own a smartphone you can download an app to access various other functions, but you don’t need the app to get going as they work straight out of the box. If you do use the app you can, for instance, alter the sound although I prefer leaving it at the normal setting. You can also make adjustments to the noise cancelling, but once again I leave it set it at “full on” and that suits me fine. I don’t use “Voice assistants” and take phone calls using my headphones, and whilst I realise that this might be something that people want to know about I’m afraid I’m not the person to tell you how they work. You can also turn on/off an ‘auto pause’ setting, which lets you stop the music when you take the headphones off. This doesn’t turn off the power.
Should you use the phone with the supplied wire rather than Bluetooth? That’s really a matter for you to decide. Maybe you want to use them with a player that doesn’t have Bluetooth, in which case you have no choice (although yet again I’d question if these are the right headphones and maybe you’re paying for features you don’t need) but if you’re using the wire because you think they’ll sound better, I’d say don’t bother. If you can use Bluetooth, use it and enjoy the freedom because the sound is no different. What you do need the wire for, is to turn off the Bluetooth and put the ‘phones into ‘flight mode’ when you’re on an aircraft. So the lead is there for a reason.
The big question many will be asking is, how do these compare to everything else? The short answer to that is, they’re better in some areas and worse in others. Just like everything else in the world. The first manufacturer who comes up with a pair of headphones that is better in every way to everything else, and which costs the same, will corner the market immediately. So far it hasn’t happened.
If noise cancelling is the only thing that bothers you, you’d better stick with the Sony WH-1000XM3. Close second are Bose (QC35 or the new 700s) and lastly the Sennheiser. If you don’t need to sit in silence with no music playing, these aren’t exactly rubbish, though.
For sound quality, I put these in first place. The Sonys are excellent, but out of the box they are too bassy, and in order to activate the ‘bright’ setting (which makes them sound so much better) you have to deactivate all but the lowest quality audio codec. In truth, doing this this makes little difference to anything, but what is the point of offering features that have to be turned off in order to use the product properly? Bose are no slouch in the audio department (they used to be, quite frankly, rubbish. But they got their act together) but they can’t quite compete with these.
Bluetooth connectivity has never been a problem for me. I know that some reviewers will say that such and such a product is always cutting out, and that all they have to do is put their phone in a pocket and it all goes haywire, but this hasn’t been my experience. So I can’t pick winners and losers in this case.
Comfort, weight, and size are all pretty comparable. I’ve never had to remove any of the different models because they’ve been uncomfortable, so you needn’t worry on that score.
And lastly (hooray!) features. You might like the ability to vary the level of noise cancelling, and if you do then I believe that Bose now offers something like 11 different settings. It’s a bit counter-intuitive, isn’t it? Everyone is arguing over who offers the best noise cancelling, and customers are looking for the most impressive performance, but then they buy something which lets them make it progressively worse and calls it a ‘feature’. If I was choosing the (potentially) most useful feature then I’d go with the automatic on-off function that goes with rotating the ear cups. It works well, with the caveat being that (as far as I can tell) there’s no way of wearing them round your neck without them being permanently ‘on’.
Over all, with a gun to my head having to choose a pair of headphones that is ‘best’, I put these in second place to Sony. Best for sound quality, but not as good at noise cancelling, and my personal circumstances dictate that noise cancelling is my main requirement most of the time. But it’s a slim margin, and on those occasions where the surroundings are quieter I’d go with the Sennheiser every time. As I said up front, the big question is, ‘Are these any good and are they worth the price?’ The answer is a resounding YES, and if you buy them you shouldn’t fret about whether you made the correct decision. Put some music on, sit back, and enjoy them.
Before you get there you have the unboxing which is a nice experience; Sennheiser’s packaging is excellent and the PXC550ii’s come in a diminutive rigid travel case – marginally smaller than the Sony 1000s and notably so than the Bose 700nc’s. B&O Don’t think your headphones deserve protection and only include a soft bag with their anc headphones. This is a big help for packing into your carry on. Inside the travel case there were the headphones; a headphone cable and 2 prong airplane adaptor and sadly a USB-A to Micro USB adaptor. Shame on Sennheiser for not switching to USB-C and from me that is an instant demerit at most all price points now.
I left them to charge up overnight. Turning them on / off Sennheiser adopted the Jabra style twist the ear cups to power on / off which I really like. In the morning with a full charge I easily paired them up with my iPhone; the new version of the Sennheiser’s use Bluetooth 5 with iPhones for better battery life and more bluetooth range. The range is excellent happily 15m without cutting out. Putting them on your head you quickly notice how comfortable they are. There isn’t a squeeze on my head and the ear cups are nice and soft; and the tear drop shape works nicely for enclosing my ears. The physical controls are minimal; a switch for controlling noise cancelling and a button for activating Alexa; there is no love hear from Siri or the google assistant. The right head cup is also home to a touch sensitive pad for your normal remote control features; the gestures are common sense – swipe forward to skip forward; back to rewind and up and down adjust volume. Up/ Down and hold continue to adjust whilst you keep your finger on the pad. The pad doesn’t work if you are wearing gloves.
Streaming high quality Spotify or lossless rips from cd’s using apple’s music app on the iPhone both sounded just fine (both are streamed as ANC from iPhones.) I think these are the first headphones I have tried where flipping on the ANC functions doesn’t cause a notable change in the audio quality or volume. All the others have a slight adjustment to the sound.
The sound; as you would expect from Sennheiser, is simply excellent. Out of the box it’s a flat profile but it delivers a lot of detail and a well balanced sound stage. Im not a bass fanatic but my only criticism is it could stand a little more bass in the default neutral profile.
Over about 40 hours of listening I have found the PXC 550-II can carry brittle harps and violins; and paint a lovely soundstage around your head. I could feed them complex layered music and blasting choirs and it would present both with precision and over a wide soundstage. As I noted above Bass pads wont fill your ears; so you may want to dial up the bass using the effects section of the app where you can choose rumble and the lower end fills in. Even then they don’t overwhelm the sax or violin on Jan Garbarek’s both instruments have their place and sound great on In Praise of Dreams.
My go to test song The Girl in Byakkoya as its very complex and has a lot of energy shifts that can reveal what’s going on in some headphones and its essentially perfect without touching the Effect Mode setting in the app. The voices are clear; and the complex harp, pad, choir all come through and sound like they have their own place in the stage. The entire thing is cohesive and are likely the best sounding headphones I have tried this year.
This is quite basic offering settings for Boost, Spatial, Reverb and DLC. The boost setting lets you boost Thump, Rumble and voice. You can pick one so that it overwhelms the others which is silly; a proper EQ with the spatial and reverb options would have been better. I left the settings off; though I have played with the soundstage option; which noticeably changes the position of the music (especially the voice) when enabled.
At full volume there is a touch of reverb in the music but it doesn’t break apart and sounds fine. Though for most every situation I have found for most situations with ANC on and at 1/2 volume is more than enough to eliminate the sounds of humanity and the train. Even then delicate whispered harmonies still shine.
The (very basic) app also lets you configure the party piece auto pause on removing from your head feature. I first saw this on the B&W PX ANC headphones a couple of years ago and B&W included it in theirs. The Sennheiser implementation seems very reliable; walking around for hours I didn’t get false pause events.
Sennheiser have a first for me setting of wind cancelling. ANC Headphones are often unusable in the wind but the anti wind setting on the 3 way ANC switch is excellent. It doesn’t pass through the tearing sound of other headphones. It doesn’t get rid of the wind completely but you do get a a calmer experience. As winter 2019 approaches this has been a pleasant companion on the last few nights walks. Sadly they aren’t weather sealed or water proofed in anyway; so they weren’t worn on rainy days. The tech manual says “Always keep the product dry” this is a shame as some rain proofing would make these the perfect winter headphones for walking outside. The ANC on a plane and train is very good; you do need to dial the volume up a bit bit its getting rid of most all of the noise.
The ANC ability here is good; its not as good at getting rid of the world as Sony’s but they do it at the expense of the music. For commuting wind setting actually makes them far superior; though its a shame they didn’t make them in some way weather sealed as wind is often accompanied by rain. For taking on a plane they are more portable thanks to their smaller carry case (its marginal by each CC counts.) Though the USB Micro charging cable really grates in 2019.
The PXC 550-II are in a different league of comfort from the Sonys and I personally rate comfort higher than total noise cancelling; that hard head band and firmer ear cups do Sony no favours on a 13 hour flight. The Bose 700nc are similar league but I think the shape of the ear cups (for me anyway) edges the Sennheiser’s in front on comfort. . The Sony, Bose and Sennheiser. Sennheiser seem to have found a very happy solution where the music sounds as good with and without the ANC and the wind mode is excellent – I can put a fan next to an ear cup and if the angle is right not hear the fan at all and the rest of the time just a gentle rustle. I am really disappointed with the USB Micro charging point in 2019 that is an extra cable to carry on a lot of trips that I would rather not.
I was very wary when I read that if you remove the headset then the music stops playing. I’ve seen this as well on B&O 9 series and it really doesn’t work well. In the B&O’s they will stop playing if you tilt your hear briefly (I’m assuming there’s a tilt detector that interprets this as taking them off. Thankfully sennheiser don’t appear to use this method of detection and whatever they do use works well. They played faithfully until I took them off.
One nice touch is when you unfold the headset it automatically connects via bluetooth and then switches on. The controls on the side of the earpiece using touch is old hat now and one that i still don’t like. I still find it inaccurate and I don’t like stading there stroking my headphone like some kind of odd-ball. I much prefer a handpiece or propper buttons. However everyone seems to be going for this.
Another nice touch according to the blurb is it uses Bluetooth 5 so when you watch video then sound and video remain more ‘in synch’ but to be fair I don’t recall any headsets not being in synch. So not sure about this marketing blurb.
DISLIKES: Other than the touch sensitive controls on the earpiece I’m not a fan of the voice assisstants. It’s trying too hard to cram as much in as possible and I’ve had enough problems with TV and Sounbar voice activated assisstants accidently interrupting things. I wish headphone manufacturers would leave that stuff alone and concentrate on high quality sound and noice cancelling.
Finally: Battery life is 20 hours with Noice Cancelling on or 30 hours if you use a cable. They are comfortable and even after a couple of hours they were still nice and light and causing no problems so all in all … price and everything else I do LIKE them but not love them. It is very much a toss up at this price between these and BOSE and both would suit you very well.

As full size over the ear, active noise cancelling bluetooth headphones go, these are a very good attempt at grabbing a share of the market. My straw poll of headphones on public transport suggests that Bose still have the lion share of the market.
My years ago, my very first set of noise cancelling headphones were Sennheiser made, those were open ear wired types, and they do an ok job of cancelling background noise, maybe removing 50% of noise on a good day. The best ones these days from Bose and Sony cancels out perhaps 80% of background noises, which makes a huge difference in a noisy environment. These aren’t quite as aggressive, removing maybe 65-70% of noises.
My day to day pair of headphones is the Sony MH-1000XM3, and this is a comparison of it.
Sound – heavy bass:
The first thing I noticed listening to the Sennheiser is the heavier bass, which isn’t my thing, but I know a lot of people who do like a heavy bass, so this will be favoured by those people. The Sennheiser mobile app is somewhat limited in the sound controls, with a small number of presets only, no continuous slider of bass or treble here.
Ignoring the bass heavy tendency for moment, the sound is actually pretty good and natural sounding.
Controls:
Sennheiser went for a hybride of buttons and touch controls. A physical 3-step slider lets you easily select the noise cancelling mode (on, adaptive, and off).
A hardware button below the slider is the Alexa button, I have to admit it’s not something I will be using as I don’t feel comfortable talking to my headphone in the middle of crowded bus or train. You have to connect the app to Alexa in order for this work.
Switch on and off:
Sennheiser is switched on and off by twisting the right hand ear cup 90 degrees, which makes it very convenient sometimes, but annoying in other times. It means you have to fold the headphones in a certain way. You cannot fold it with the cups facing inwards, instead the right hand cup must face out, which results in taking up more room.
The fit of the headphones are fairly tight. I have a big-ish head at 59-60cm circumference (my wear baseball caps on the largest hole), and it starts to feel a bit tight after wearing them for 20 minutes.
Lastly, the spoken instructions coming out of the headphones is in a British accent, which is a nice touch.
All in all, there are some quirks with these headphones, but they are still very good, especially if you like bass heavy music, and your head isn’t bigger than average like mine.
I have owned a set of corded Sennheisers for decades and they are still going strong so I am familiar with the brand and can vouch for their reliability. I also own another relatively new set of Bluetooth headphones of a similar specification and price point that I am making comparisons with, however I will not name the other brand but I will make reference to how each perform.
Firstly, the box is well constructed and has padding around the headphones case, padding around the lid and is definitely worth retaining to keep them dust free. A QR code sticker on the box can be scanned to prove the headphones authenticity.
The case has hard protection top and bottom. Unzipped, the headphone cups fold in a configuration that maximises the small cases footprint. It is easy to forget how to fold the headphones. A diagram in the case is a welcome reminder. The case has a soft divider that sits between the ear cups. This would be better if the material was stiffened to aid the cups placement in the case.
A USB lead of a reasonable length, mini jacks and a flight adapter are also provided in the case. The USB is a micro and not USB-C and a charge plug isn’t provided.
The instructions and safety leaflets offer a basic setup in multiple languages and a more comprehensive set of instructions are available on-line.
The headphones are a delight to set up. You can more or less forget the instructions they are so easy to set up. Out of the box the headphones will automatically power up with cup rotation and also power down when put away. I love this feature.
Download the smart control app and follow the navigational instructions. It took less than a minute before mine were fully functional. A lot shorter time than my other pair took to configure.
The app itself is fairly basic but functional and offers a few presets and an option for user defined settings. I wasn’t too impressed by this feature but minor changes can be made to bass boost etc. Product registration built into the app would have been useful at the set up stage and the app could be better.
Comfort wise, the headphones are very comfortable to wear but have a slightly tighter clamping action than the other pair I own. They are very lightweight and will make excellent travelling companions. The headband is very flexible and comfortable to wear. The cushions more or less fully envelope my ears and thankfully haven’t made me sweat as yet. The cushions cancel out a lot of external passive noise long before the electronics are activated. They are marked L&R inside and the cones are well protected.
Noise cancelling is simply amazing. A positionable switch is used to adjust the functions and is in just the right place. There is only one other physical switch and the rest of the controls are touch sensitive and accessed by finger movements on the right hand can. These control pause/play, select next tracks etc and also work the phone functions.
The phone functionality is outstanding. Voice calls work exceptionally well being able to hear and be heard very well via a connection to my iPhone.
I have used this type of headphone control before with my other set of headphones but I have to say these ones work just so much better and are far more responsive.
Volume levels are good with the headphones and sound quality is discussed below.
The headphones are Bluetooth 5.0 compatible and playback is in high quality: aptX, LL and AAC is supported. Pairing to my iPhone was more or less instantaneous and didn’t require a pin code. However pairing to my tv took two or three attempts but that is nothing new with this particular TV. Lip sync is great with no sound delay and the range is astonishing. I walked all around my house and there was only slight sound breakup but not until I was on another floor and in the furthest away room in the house. My other set suffers slight break up even in the same room as my tv at times. Connecting to the tv deactivates my phones connection and a voice prompt makes me aware of this. Connectivity is automatically restored when I turn off the tv. I don’t know if connecting two devices at once is possible?
Voice Guidance is offered in a very good clear English spoken voice, much better than my other headphones and Google and Alexa is supported.
The smart control app helps with the setting up of Alexa and once activated Alexa responds at the touch of a button. Alexa is fast and works superbly. It is easy to set up, unlike my other headphones that is very flaky to respond and will not work at the same time as setting ambient sound because of switch sharing. These have no such issue and the switches have specific functions.
So what about the all important sound quality?
Well for the time I have had with them, actually the sound isn’t as good as my other headphones. Bass isn’t as strong and I didn’t find the soundstage to be quite as good. Each instrument on my other headphones is clearly defined and well positioned. I find these cans a little muddled by comparison and not quite as punchy with neither my iPad or iPhone used as the source. However don’t let this put you off as I do have a hearing impairment and the headphones haven’t been properly run in yet. Apple also limits its volume settings and paired with a proper hifi I would expect these to come Alive? My main use for wireless headphones is for listening to TV, vocals are clear and dialogue distinctive, wearing them to watch movies is a treat to the ears. You hear so much more detail and I enjoy using them late at night when the household is otherwise quiet.
Battery life claims 20-30 hours on par with Bose and Sony but I am unsure of the charge time, it is difficult to gauge how OMG this will be given the lack of high speed USB-C connectivity or charger?
My conclusion, sound quality could be better but if I hadn’t heard my other headphones I would have been totally ignorant to this fact and would be satisfied using them to watch tv. It’s true to say they haven’t had sufficient running in time yet neither so they may get better over time? Overall I am highly delighted with these as there is so much that these headphones do so effortlessly well that outweighs any shortcomings.
Pick them up, put them on, use them, no faff!
