Able to provide lighting for parties, dim light to promote sleep. Ability to use with voice controlled devices allows for lights to be turned on without leaving bed, reducing falls risk.

Bought these for my 10 year old son. I was not looking forward to setting it up after reading the reviews however it was very simple and easy to do.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat product.

    Update: 01/10/2023
Unfortunately one bulb stop working after 3.5 months.
    Be adviced
Update: so basically, I have 1 working yet and another that stopped working after a couple of months. The customer service however was great. Very supportive.

These lamps are smart, you can change colour, but also can share it with other family members. Something that some other brands do not allow and is very annoying. So far so good.

Bought 2. Took a few attempts to get the 1st one connected and working. The 2nd set up was quick and immediate.
Works with Alexa and Google home.
Seems like there are infinite options for light colours. You can tell Alexa to set it warm white or cool white.
Also dim the bulb by setting to percentage eg 100 percent for bright or 25 percent for romantic dimmed room.

Super easy to set up and connect with your Alexa. Helped me save on electricity bills as my kids were turning on their main lights and leaving them on all the time so I am able to make sure they’re off at night/ when we’re out etc. The kids love being able to change the colour of their room!

I bought these to go with my other smart light, and these are so much better. Not only are they much brighter, they have far more inbuilt scenes too.

It took a while to set up and I’m not very technical, once done it’s great, you can change the brightness and colour by the app on your phone or by asking Alexa. There are more colour patterns on the app as Alexa doesn’t know all of the colours.
Would recommend for kids and adults, it even has a party mode where the light changes colour to the bear of the music.

So happy with this purchase! We use the red light setting at night before bed. The color wheel is so nice for customizing the color! And Alexa works well with it. Very easy to use and set up!

Having read various reviews of smart lightbulbs I was worried about setting this up, but it really couldn’t be simpler! I followed the instructions on the box to pair the lightbulb with my WiFi, and then to pair it with Alexa – it worked first time with no hassle at all! I can control it from any linked Alexa device, it probably took me 2 minutes at the very most to set it up, including screwing the lightbulb into the fitting.

The app that the manual tells you to install and all the QR codes on the packaging wouldn’t work for me. Thankfully I saw a comment about the Smart Life app which was so much easier to set up. I wouldn’t say the colours are necessarily bright but the white light is great with the option to warm it up. Overall a good product but room for improvement.

Love how the colour can be fine tuned.
    Installation was easy
Edit: Having to keep resetting the kitchen bulb is becoming a little annoying since the default setting is a bright flashing beacon! Pretty sure my neighbours think I’m sending a distress signal sometimes.

They are easy to install and easy to connect to Alexa the colour changes are brilliant and brightness can be changed to your personal preference only downfall is they didn’t last very long only a few months but for the price they did what was expected would just of been nice to last a bit longe

I bought these to further automate my smart home. They work well with Alexa and Alexa routines. They’re also very programmable via their own app- more so than via alexa. Of the 8 I bought, 2 make a ringing beeeeee noise and have been discarded- I don’t think it’d be audible to an NT person, but to me, an autistic person, they’re intolerable! The rest are silent and easy to use. The flashing during install is painful for me so I have to leave the room and assume they are flashing while I set them up on my phone without actually looking at them. I don’t know why they couldn’t have turned green for setup or something less difficult for photosensitive people to cope with than a bright, flashing light! Overall very good, highly customisable, alexa-responsive bulbs.

Be warned: if you reset your router they will temporarily disconnect and you will need to turn them off for a few minutes, then turn them back on for a minute, before you can voice-control them again!

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersThese bulbs, first and foremost, are great. They are LED, of course, which means lower energy consumption and longer life, but they are much more than that.

The fact that can be controlled with your voice or the accompanying app means that the level of convenience rockets. Leaving aside the novelty aspect of being able to pick almost any colour for the bulb to use, the ability to reduce and increase brightness at will is incredibly beneficial.

They were pretty easy to install, via the app and Alexa, so long as your phone is on the exact same network as Alexa herself. This means both being on 2.4ghz or 5ghz until they are recognised and connected. Once you have the bulbs connected, it doesn’t matter which band you are using, Alexa will do the heavy lifting. Being able to name each bulb individually or as part of a group is very useful indeed. Of course, being English, we have one called “Big Light”. So why not 5 stars?

I’ve had to reconnect at least one bulb to Alexa a couple of times. Although it’s not a big job to do so, that I have had to do it at all means a star is taken off. It might be that this is an issue with all smart bulbs, but it still means they do not deserve the full 5 stars. As it happens, I haven’t had to do so now for several weeks, so it’s definitely not a problem that makes the bulbs unusable. On the upside, even if you lose your network or the power goes off, the bulbs will just continue to work when the network and/or power is restored.

For the price, these are a great addition to even the most basic of smart houses and, despite the lack of that 5th star, are highly recommended

First time buying smart bulbs and was a bit sceptical after having my head buried in loads of reviews from different bulbs. My wish list was cluttered from all the different bulbs to consider. I bought these on the spur of the moment when they came up on a flash deal. They were reasonably priced and wouldn’t break the bank if they didn’t make the cut. I planned to use them in bedrooms and my main concern was the buzzing/humming noise mentioned on reviews of these types of bulbs.

These bulbs live up to expectations!! No buzzing/humming sound, lots of different colours (to amuze the kids), bright white light for reading in bed and very easy to set up with the Smart Life app. The best feature for me is the schedule feature. Lights going on in the bedrooms to wake the kids for school (when it wasn’t lockdown) and at bed-time, and of course off again when they leave for school or are s’pose to be sleeping.

You won’t need any other smart devices (other than a smart phone) to use these lights, but they do work a treat with Google Home and the kids like that they can control them (on/off/colour) using voice commands. It takes some time to get out of the habit of switching the lights on/off using the light switch. They do function like normal lights when the internet is down.

The good points – The usability and colour is great. Helps manage the light especially when you are on zoom calls or MS Teams, you can get the colour right so you dont look like you are the wrong shade and helps with the eyes when working late. Lots of options and works well with Google hub and Alexa Echo, so from that side its fucntions are great. However the drop of 1 star is it needs to be sort the 5ghz option plsI the fact they will only work on 2.4ghz network is a downside. This was fine when my virgin hub allowed to have 2 networks, however when upgrading to a MEsh technology, this is not possible. So with a a later phone you cant make it choose the 2,4ghz network and therefore cant connect. However i bought 2 and my daughter has managed to get it to work with her phone, as she only can connect to 2.4ghz.

Golden Review Award: 60 From Our UsersThese colour changing smartbulbs are great value for money. Much cheaper than main brand smart bulbs, such as Hive or Hue, but just as good once setup.

Their brightness is really good and can produce a very white light if needed. Much brighter than other make cheap smart bulbs I’ve tried. You can change the warmth of the light, as well as the brightness and a full range of colour.

They don’t need a hub, and just work via your existing wifi, but do take a bit of time to setup. You need to install their own smart app and then follow the guide to discover and install them. This isn’t as straightforward as using main brand bulbs, because you have to experiment to see which version of a protocol is needed to find them, and you have to answer questions about how fast the bulb is flashing in setup mode. It took me a couple of attempts to get the first bulbs working, but once one is setup you know what to select for any more.

Integration with Alexa needs you to install a skill as with any thirdparty product. You then need to make sure you have named the bulbs in it’s own app before you go into the Alexa app to search for them. You then just add a new device, select bulb and hopefully it finds them. Once added you utilise them like any other bulbs. You can ask Alexa to dim them, change their colour etc and set on/off timers. The only slight annoyance is when asking Alexa to dim the lights if you say anything less than 50% they turn off. In the app you can adjust them the full 0-100%. So I marked down ease of install just because it is a bit fiddly and time consuming. And not completely straight forward. But it’s only needed once and they work perfectly once setup.

If you compare installing these with a Hive bulb, Hive have really streamlined their device install process. Now when you plug a Hive product in the app automatically finds and installs it and just asks you to name it and assign it a room or group. Probably the easiest install of any smart system I’ve used, but Hive products are a lot more expensive and you need a Hive smart hub, so really only an option if you have Hive central heating.

Would I recommend them? Definitely. If you want smart bulbs these work well once setup and are far cheaper then any main brand bulbs. I got 2 for 16, whereas Hive colour bulbs were 39 each.

The bulbs are solid construction and a good weight. They are cool to touch, suggesting they may last. Reasonably easy to configure with the Avatar Android app. These work with the original Smart Life home app as well. I chose a Smart Life compatible device, because such devices work with Amazon Alexa and Google Home. I can use either platform to control my lights. Compare this to something like an Amazon Smart plug, with doesn’t yet work with Google Home. Colour and brightness controls are adjustable. Like all colour bulbs, they wont be as bright at colour as they are when displaying white. This shouldn’t be a problem, because whites are very bright and when using colour it is usually when relaxing while listening to music or watching a film. At all other times, I set mine to warm white. Once you have named each bulb, it is easy to voice control with Alexa of Google Home. I have tried Alexa on a PC, Android, Fire TV Stick and Amazon Echo Flex. I also tested with Google home on Android, because I don’t have any google smart speakers.

Golden Review Award: 55 From Our UsersIf you are just starting out into your smart home adventure, these are a must! Obviously there are other options out there f the bigger brands like Phillips Hue and LifeX but these are a great price, for 2, and do the exact same job!

    Positives
These bulbs are affordable, easy to setup with your home WiFi (2.4GHz), controllable via an app on your smart home, easy to configure to integrate with Alexa for voice control. They offer a huge array of colours and scenes, brightness levels and customisable colours and scenes to save.

    Downsides
If you use these bulbs with regular non smart switches as soon as you use the light switch instead of the app, voice assistant or routine etc. it’ll disconnect the bulb and you need to setup again.
Bulbs obviously have a life span, unlike smart light switches so bear that in mind if you’re buying a lot.

I would absolutely recommend these for anyone looking to make a start on their smart home adventure, or even if you just nee some bulbs, why not! They’re cheap!

Golden Review Award: 61 From Our UsersOk these ones ARE trickier than other bulbs, like the phillips hue to connect to Alexa. Also, if you happen to switch them off manually they can take about 20 minutes or so to reconnect, which is annoying. But once they are up and running they are great. The only issue I have found with them is that I am different than most in that I like A LOT of light, I hate dim bulbs, or muted lighting, it has to be completely dark or really bright for me. Now these bulbs CAN be bright, when switched to white mode, which I love, but Alexa somehow cannot seem to put them into this mode, if you tell her you want them white, they go to warm white, which is prefectly fine, and bright enough, but t get them to brilliant white I have to do it manually through the app. Not a massive issue though, and once they are in brilliant white mode Alexa switches them back on in that mode, as long as thats what they were on when they were turned off. I would buy again.

Golden Review Award: 73 From Our UsersThese bulbs are actually better than my Hue ones! The app they work with is very easy to set up, and has loads of options, you can set them to go on n off at specific times, or when a certain condition is met – I.E. at sunset they come on, or even upon arrival to your home the hallway light can be set to come on for you. They can be set to go off at your usual bedtime too.
They work with Alexa flawlessly, I’ve not had any issues linking these bulbs to my Echo Dot. Alexa has never forgotten they exist or taken issue with them, like she occasionally does with my Hue ones.
You can set scenes, where the bulbs will change colour according to a routine you’ve set up. You can put them on party mode, where they’ll change colour at a speed of your choice. Which is so much fun when you get Alexa involved. You can set them to one colour (my son likes a pale blue light on the landing at night) and you can adjust the brightness along with the “temperature” of the white light. So it can be a warm white or cool white. All this can be done on the app, so you don’t necessarily need to buy an Echo device. Or you can ask Alexa to adjust the brightness to whatever % you’d like.
At 100% brightness they are very bright, so great for doing close work and at 1% they’re dim enough to give a cosy and relaxing atmosphere, without struggling to see. Great for watching films and still want to see where you put the popcorn. These types of bulbs are said to last a good 10-20 years, which is probably cheaper than replacing traditional lightbulbs and definitely better than even energy saving bulbs, because they can be a bit too dim or take ages to brighten. Plus with the app, you can see if any lights got left on at home and just turn them off remotely. Or if you’re away from home, you can remotely turn lights on and off, to make it appear as if someone is home. The options are literally endless. They’re excellent value for money as they are a little cheaper than other brands, but don’t require an extra purchase, such as a bridge when you fit more than 5, for example. Adding these to my home has been so easy and it is cool when the lights come on and off, adjust their brightness or change colour for you.

Golden Review Award: 73 From Our UsersThe bulbs themselves are amazing, quick and easy connection but be patient as sometimes the pairing can take a while.

I brought the b22 bulls to go upstairs in my bedroom so I could run them off voice activation. As I’d installed smart bulbs in other rooms in my house I was use to the set up. Sometimes it can take a few mins to set up and pair with the app but bear with it as once it’s done it works amazingly and is so easy to integrate with your smart home.

    5 MONTH UPDATE….
One bulb has unfortunately had an issue, out of the blue it failed to turn on and after a few minutes of fiddling around with it I decided to do a fresh pair and start again….. only to find that it had an issue during pairing, my guess is something had gone wrong internally (mechanically) as it failed to pair every time.

GOOD NEWS came from contacting avatar themselves and explaining the issue. They gave me a few pointers to try first then just requested a video to show the failings of the bulb and once that was done they had organised a new bulb to be sent out to me as a replacement.

The customer service was amazing and they really do strive to give the best performance from their products.

Despite the one bulb failing I will definitely give Avatar 10/10

I’ve got in total 14 bulbs from them in my home at the moment most of them being the G10 and all of them apart from one ( the one in question) works amazingly.

I wouldn’t hesitate to keep buying for when I integrate more rooms in my home to my smart hub.
