I am an audiophile, there is no doubt about it, it is very difficult for me to find satisfaction in the sound quality of headphones or a sound system. But these headphones are by far the best I’ve heard. It says extra bass, but honestly I’d say it has the right amount of bass, just more than the average person would experience.
The clarity of sound is spectacular, and it is not one bit muffled or tinny. You can use them to listen to music, watch movies with a better experience, I even use them for playing games on my PC, and it is an amazing experience.
The sound cancelling on them is absolutely amazing, we had the plumbers around to rebuild our bathroom and they had noisy power tools and hammers and such, and the headphones blocked everything. They’re amazing! And, they are so so comfortable to wear, you can wear them for very long periods of time without it hurting in the slightest, they sit very well on my head. And the ear cups when you first put them on feel so nice, because of the cooling pad technology.
My brother has even said that they are the best headphones he has ever heard too!
I highly recommend, they are amazing for the price that they are. I would think of these as worth 200+ rather than 100.
The battery life is really good, they do not lie. And the touch controls on the side work very well, they are not a trashy gimick.
Amazing headphones, would buy again. Thank you Sony

Struggling to find any faults with these headphones. Great sound quality, deep, solid bass, excellent mid range and treble. They are light and comfortable to wear. Volume and skip tracks just by sliding a finger up or down, left or right along the right ear cup. Can be controlled via an excellent app from the playstore which allows you to adjust the sound to numerous handy presets or you can adjust each level manually. Bluetooth connection is always quick and stable. Highly recommended.

The noise cancelling is good, but not amazing. It does cancel out most ambient room noise at normal levels – People chatting, the radio etc but you can still hear certain frequencies. (the shrill sound of my bosses voice when I’m ignoring her and listening to music for example)

I like that you can electronically control the amount of noise cancelling to have audio pass though. I’ll have it on full pass though for example when listening in bed so that if the misses speaks I can hear her which is handy to avoid crapping myself when she gets my attention my whacking/poking/flicking/shouting etc.

The clarity is quite so good as it’s a “bass” bias, but I imagine if I play with the processing on the ap I can lighten it up a bit. The clue is in the title however so it’s entirely my fault.

All in all I would recommend!

What more could you want, these are the best headphones if you’re a casual listener like me. They come with an aux cable for wired listening if you want. I wasn’t sure about the ‘Extra Bass’, which honestly could put people off of these, but I knew Sony have an app where you can adjust the bass levels dramatically- from -10, 0, and +10, because heavy bass isn’t the greatest for relaxed listening and I’m far from the biggest bass fan. The charging cable that comes with these is pretty short, but I would advise against using anything while it’s charging so it’s far from a complaint(plus, they last forever without having to charge them!)

The app features an equalizer (much like Spotify), so you can adjust your music settings to whatever you want. I’m a fan of the Treble Boost. I was afraid of these headphones having too much bass but they seem perfectly balanced especially with the app’s freedom of choice, you can turn it up and down to your preference!
The Noise Cancellation is absolutely perfect, kind of scarily so when you’re on a walk for example because you hear nothing! However, they also have ambient listening so you can switch between hearing what’s around you and blocking it out! VERY handy.

These were an upgrade from my 2 year old Airpods because the noise cancellation in those are nonexistent which annoyed me on walks, and because headphones are great & essential to have anyway.

These also have some very nice touch controls as well, but I don’t need to use those too much since these work great with my Apple Watch and I can control music volume etc through that!
Been using these for 4 days and haven’t had to charge them once yet. Comfortable with glasses as well. I believe these also have a mic in them (pretty damn decent from what I’ve heard) so you can use them for phone calls.
Audio quality wasn’t overly noticeable first time I used them, but they’re still top tier and perfect for listening especially with the equalizer and bass settings.

No complaints whatsoever. An essential for everyone.

    Product is good quality generally
Sound Cancelling is good, can hear some noises (i.e loud chatter, but a lot quieter than without NC on)
    Sound quality is great
Using Sony app bass and volume control is excellent

Would consider that touch functions (except cover to turn off noise cancelling) do not work when wired
Headphones work when not charged but with much lower quality, still good headphones without charge

Would recommend for price, maybe buy on sale for more value for money!!

    1. V good sound
    2. Noise cancellation option can be disabled
    3. Fit well
    4. Look good
So far he’s happy with them. I hope they will last a while – Sony is known for a good, quality products.

I was recommended these head phone by a musician friend of mine as in the past I have bought budget Bluetooth headphones which broke quite quickly due to my commute to work. I wanted something more durable and most of all sounded a lot better. These head phones have an astounding depth of sound with an extremely deep bass. Noise cancelling I can quite work out yet but seem to be ok. Over all though these are definitely worth every penny!!
    Highly recommend!

The lightweight nature of these means that, even wearing glasses / sunglasses with them, they never at any point feel uncomfortable and there’s no issue with them making your ears hot either that I’ve found after having them on for 8 hours straight.

It’s true that they DO feel a bit “plastic-y” but I far prefer the comfort of these to my old JBL’s.

The noise cancelling does it’s job, but to be honest I’ve never been too overly worried about it and the quality of the bass on these is more than enough to ensure you get enough “boom for your buck”.

These over-the-ear Sony cans are a ‘dark horse!’ They hide their sonic abilities, until you unleash their acoustic performance, within the downloaded smart app. After considerable twiddling and fumbling, I finally stumbled upon a sound that was met with grateful enthusiasm from my ears! So, persevere! You will not enjoy their sound ‘straight out of the box,’ so be patient, and don’t throw them down in a moment of contempt. They will deliver! All the best!

I brought these for some headphones to help me disconnect from the world to study and boy did they did that. The noise cancellation which is adaptive to surrounding sound works well while keeping the music quality top notch. Sometimes I’ve forgotten they were on as they are so light. Best pair of headphones I have brought, so pleased with the quality.

I was hesitant to purchase because of some of the reviews. I’ve discovered that earphones are a very personal experience – so here is mine. I absolutely LOVE these. This is my first pair of headphones by Sony and the first pair I’ve ever spent more than 40 quid on. So maybe I just don’t know better. But the sound is great. The base made me smile, and they are super comfy and light weight. I highly recommend you calibrate them for your ears (in the app) as it made a difference for me. The only negative thing I have to say, is I would love if the 360 sound quality was available without a subscription. I feel like that is next level and not sure why you’d have to pay monthly to have such amazing sound. But. m’eh.

This is the first set of wireless headphones I have, they sound amazing and the battery life is great. I do find the controls confusing and still not used to them (they get activated when you touch the set, so if you adjust the set for comfort you will accidentally also skip a song, or lower the volume etc..)

The downside is not really from the set, but the lifestyle we are having at the moment… not very comfortable when you need to wear a face-mask.. taking the mask on and off is a pain when wearing them.. and the fact that the ‘pause/skip/volume’ controls get activated when you touch them means if you need to remove/put the mask quickly you will be interfering with what you listen … constantly … and inadvertently…

If you are undecided between this and a smaller set to use in your commute, go for the smaller one. But this are fantastic if you want to just listen to your thing and nothing else.

Great sounds, nice to have the active noise reduction, it’s really helps in the train and on the busy London streets

    The build quality feels good.

You can stay easy few hours without pain to your ears.

It coming with a bag, but you can buy a hard case.

    The battery life is amazing.

    What I don’t like
    1. Volume control is beeping.
    2. The changing environment notification sound, it’s bells every few minutes and it’s annoying, but you can disable it thru the app.

  24. Anonymous says:

Definitely a good headphone. I dislike the feel of the device though, I paid 150 and it’s not a premium feel. Sound quality is pretty nice, it is definitely bassy but that’s only when you set your Bass Level to at least 6 or above (in the EQ Settings of the Sony app). I do like the touch button on the side of the head, I can swipe for volume control, play pause and various other stuff. Connectivity is pretty solid as well. Codecs are fine as well. I will say that you don’t get a hard shell case, instead you get a soft bag which in my opinion doesn’t protect the headphones. Oh and also noise cancellation on this is meh. If you play music you won’t hear the outside world at all but the ANC just isn’t that good.

The upside is that these headphones give extremely good sound reproduction. I am tending towards ripping CDs to FLAC format to take advantage of it. The downside is that they do not alwayst pair with my 4G Samsung television. I am able to use them with my Personal computer and iPhone. I have a pair of SONY WH-XB900N headphones that will pair with anything but does not have so good sound reproduction.
However they still get 5 stars overall

These headphones are helping me “rediscover” my music collection which over the years has become rather neglected because it requires a decent volume to be able to get the full bass sound. My house does not have particularly soundproof walls.
I have also invested in an Astell & Kern MP3 player.

The only downside is the weird method of volume control by stroking the back of the right headphone. I find this very difficult to use. It tends to be overcome by setting the headphones to full volume and using the MP3 player volume control.
I have not been able to assess the noise cancelling function as I have not needed it.

Bought these headphones to replace my Marshall MID ANC headphones, which I really liked but had too many nagging issues that I couldn’t ignore.
Firstly, these headphones are over ear so I can wear them with glasses and also blocks out other ambient noises. Where you’re really getting value for money is by downloading the sony headphones connect app, where you can tweak EQ. Once I found the right balance I was amazed by the quality. The noise cancelling is also very very good. I also use these headphones for MS Teams meetings, and I can be heard loud and clear. For people that have complained that they are too quiet, when you’re in a meeting tap and hold on the right ear cup, you’ll hear a beep and that will enable the mic. You’ll notice a massive difference. I’m yet to go to work next week, so it’ll be see how nice these perform when travelling.

I did plenty of research on other headphones before making my choice. I have apple AirPods for when I’m out and about which I love, but I wanted something for home while I work that sounds great and are comfortable to wear all day (not AirPods in my opinion). If money was no object I would have bought the very much more expensive Sony WF-1000XM4 which are allegedly the best on the market (in that class). I nearly bough the Sony WF-1000XM3 but for an extra 100 I just couldn’t justify the extra money at the moment.

Obviously I haven’t compared these to the Sony WF-1000XM4, and I’m sure those are very much better but these do the job very well. Some say they are too bassy but for me that wasn’t an issue as I like bass and you can tune the equaliser in the app anyway.

If you want a decent set of headphones which have good battery life, are comfortable and sound great without paying hundreds, then I would very much recommend these. Sure they aren’t as good as the more expensive models, and I don’t usually like to compromise but these do the job very well.

Overall very good sound signature with more emphasis on bass that can be controlled through sony app. For bass lover, its highly recommended and for balanced music sony wh-1000xm4/xm4 or boss will do. But it won’t disappoint at this mid-range price point. Great for listening general music and watching movies on streaming services.

They still have the brightness but the bass is just off the scale, such a great audio quality but then they’re Sony and you pretty much expect that from them nowadays. the design is firm and tight, it’s very hard to find anything not to like about these. The exterior shell is quite plasticky and light but once they’re on your head, you’re not thinking about that. Overall, they compare well to other Sony headphones below and above the price.

Big fan of these. I’ve had them a couple of months and some notes:
    Bluetooth connectivity
When I first got them, great, no issue. A couple of months in, the connectivity started dropping and from time to time, they have a period of cutting out. I’ve tried connecting these to several devices and it happens with all of them so I’ve concluded it’s the headphones. Haven’t figured out why it happens.

    Noice cancellation
Pretty not existent. The only way to truly block out noise is by turning the volume up

    Comfort
Can’t fault this. Fits nicely over the ear and headband can be adjusted. I personally don’t get any aches after I’ve worn it for hours but as I have ears that stick out quite a bit, I can feel the difference once I’ve taken them off

The biggest con of this is the inability to turn voice assist off. I’ve disabled all the settings on my phone but I’ve had the i for table scenario where I take them off for a few moments, and in doing so, accidentally hold the touch controls which somehow always enables voice assist and ends up calling people. I would rather the headphones app allows you to completely turn off the voice control option.

Battery life is good enough for me, also noise cancelling does good job.
Sound quality, bit tricky, with Xperia 1 and Sony Headphones app you can adjust what’s best for you. Samsung S6 tablet gives out nice and balanced sound by default, wired (with adapter) and wireless.

I have used the Sony WH-100XM3 in the past and i was very impressed by them, but these headphones are JUST AS GOOD. They have same sound quality, same comfortable padding, same app, etc. They’re pretty similar in most categories, apart from noise cancelling. Here the XM3’s are superior, but the XB900N are still decent, and this in acceptable considering the price difference. One downside to these headphones is that the ear padding is so thick that your ears can get sweaty, especially in summer.

If you guys are buying these because of the noise cancelling these headphones are not the ones. The noise cancelling is very weak. It does not cancel out most of the noise so I would advise that you look for other ones if your main reason for buying these is the noise cancelling.

Going to try add as much detail concisely as I can as I spent ages researching headsets before resting for this which I’m pleased I did. Bought on pre xmas sale.
    1. Noise cancelling – great!! I cant hear the bf sat opposite me in the room with it on in silence and with music on your in your own universe, some noise does get through that’s louder or higher pitched when sitting in silence but its decent at toning these down. I get overwhelmed with noisy environments and this headset helps with this immensely.
    2. Sound quality = top notch thanks sony
    3. Comfort – great feel and cups are soft however the headset itself is a bit tight for my head and after 5+ hours of wearing them for work I have had headaches and had to take a break from them. I have a wide head not a long one so I’m stuck with them being tightest for best fit round my ears but crush my head slowly.
    4. Battery life is exactly what it says on the tin. Charged them twice in 3 weeks of heavy use.
    5. Mic works well but doesn’t noise cancel typing or noises around room out so I’ve been called a keyboard warrior on some calls at work attempting to multitask (I have a mechanical keyboard so this maybe why but thought ID mention)
    5. Touch buttons on the side – I find skip and volume controls easy but I struggle to pause music by tapping the outer cup. It works 30% of the time and then I struggle to unpause so I use my phone for that when out and about.. Unsure if its just me that as I have nails and cold hands and not seen that mentioned elsewhere so Im probs doing something wrong.
For the price I paid (think 80-100) well worth the . Really pleased with them.

My new upstairs neighbours decided they love wood flooring. It goes particularly well with a woman who walks like a troll in steel toe boots, dropping bowling balls and a bloke who loves base and endless drilling. As much as this was brilliant fun during a pandemic, I thought I would take some time out for myself to watch tv and listen to my own (less repetitive) music. The noise cancellation is excellent, I can’t even hear it when I need to test every single fire alarm, or vacuum the ceiling.

The headphones have lasted quite a while considering that I use headphones very heavily and put them through a lot of strain. The audio quality is nothing to sneeze at either, even with the headphones’ high audio quality mode off. It’s a very good value for headphones that sound great, last you the entire day from waking up to falling asleep, and have so far not shown signs of wear and tea

Sounds and build quality excellent battery life just brilliant, fitting could be a little tighter headphones are on minimum now, otherwise a must buy for the price.

The headphones are excellent! At a mid range ish price you do get quite a lot. Really comfy. I used them on the train today, noise cancelling wasn’t perfect, but I couldn’t hear much. So it did the job. I could mainly a muffled hear the voice over which is good for listening out for stops I guess. The swiping action is handy for quickly skipping a song. But I’ve found that having my hood up can cause the tracks to pause and skip. Maybe I’ll try a hat. The charge lasts so long! The instructions were a little bit unclear, they’re just pictures. So to get siri/ google you need to hold the middle down, I still need to figure out answering calls. Other reviews made me nervous to buy them as they said that they’re bad. But I haven’t had a major problem with them yet. The sound is really good. Get the app that’s so fun, you can change where the sound is coming from. Like you can make the sound sound like it’s behind you etc! This was actually my first biggest buy with my first pay check! So I was so hyped to buy them with my earned money! And they didn’t disappoint. I obviously couldn’t get the top top brands, this is the closest I could find to something that’s what I’m looking for!!!

I got this and changed for the XM3 as I wanted better noise cancellation.
However, I find the sound quality on this one is better than XM3, that is more expensive than this one.
Very good quality headphones, I’d recommend getting this one over the XM3

I love these headphones the bass they kick out and clarity in sound, very good,
They look and feel good to use, comfortable on the ears and head, the battery life is excellent.
One problem is that it has a notification feature that doesn’t work, if you don’t disable it you get a constant bell notification noise that interrupts what you are listening to, Sony haven’t fixed that so better to turn it off.

I m not expert but it sounds awesome. I often listen to hip hop nowadays and thought this would work well as low end are often not pretty in headphones. This rocks.
Word of wisdom, yes the bass is punchy but you can tune it in the app EQ. I found the default setting (flat) to fit my taste. Tried NTM – ma Benz and the voices are insane and bass is crazy whilst being just right. It s like finally being able to listen to a bass line or low breathing, it s part of the magic.
Folk music sounds lovely and jazz too.

    Worth putting in your shortlis

Bought this on the day xm4 was released. I had to think twice if i really need top notch noise cancelling. Decided to have a go with this since it’s Amazon and I can return it if i’m unhappy. The bass is so clean. The sound is as good as Xm3 (compared it with my friend’s). Yes this feels plasticy but it doesn’t look like one. It is so light that it can stay on your head for lengthy period. Damn good purchase this was. Sony has done an amazing job creating mid-range headphones and targeting specific audience. We don’t really need to spend 350 for new techs when we can find decent, nearly the same quality Headphones on the market.

Had these about 2 months now and the battery life is very good. I have used them around 2 hours a day at times and lasted a up to couple of weeks at a time.
The sound quality and base in my view is exceptional.
They come with a bag to store and transport them in.
The only downside is the pathetically short charging lead. (250mmish) so purchased a longer one. Hasn’t made charging times and longer.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought these headphones during quarantine when my neighbors decided to have very loud raves throughout the entire day.

I am very happy with these headphones. They are comfortable to wear (I usually where them for several hours at a time), great battery life (only have to charge them maybe once a week), and have great sound quality. With the noise cancelling I have noticed that they are quite good at blocking out ambient noise, but voices can sometimes still come through. Even still, these headphones are relatively cheap for what you get – would definitely recommend.

Husband loves this product. Has enjoyed listening to the radio or books on his phone while pottering in the garden.
