Splatoon 2 (Nintendo Switch)
What is Splatoon 2?
Itâs splat or be splatted.
The squid kids called Inklings are back to splat more ink and claim more turf in this colourful and chaotic 4-on-4 action shooter.
For the first time, take Turf War battles on-the-go with the Nintendo Switch system, and use any of the console’s portable play styles for intense local multiplayer action. Even team up for 4-player co-op fun in Salmon Run.
Two years later.
Two years have passed since the original Splatoon game was released, and two years have also passed in Inkopolis. So expect a fresh wave of fashion, not to mention some weapons and gear. Dual wield the Splat Dualies or stick to mainstays like chargers and rollers, which have been remixed with strategic possibilities. As always, Turf War is the favoured sport among Inklings, but they also dig ranked battles, taking down Octarians in a robust single-player campaign, and battling enemy Salmonids in one dangerous part-time job! No matter which way you play, splat at home or on-the-go with Nintendo Switch. Staying fresh never felt so good.
Team up for Salmon Run.
There’s a curious employment agency called Grizzco in Inkopolis Square where you can find a part-time job. It’s dangerous work though! Work as a team to take out incoming Salmonid and collect the Power Eggs they leave behind. You can then sell these Power Eggs and use the proceeds to pay for enhanced weapons and gear.
In order to gather the Power Eggs, you’ll need to enter dangerous terrain where the Salmonid live. It’s too dangerous to go alone, so you’ll form a team of between two and four players.

my sons obsessed so got him splatoon 3 aswell he likes that bette
Daughter has both 1 and 2 and loves them both. Online play required which means buying a Nintendo subscription so take that into account.
This almost became one of my favourite games and for the most part it is.
The art, design, music, sounds, animation & UI, lore and the basic concept are genius and the turf wars online are a lot of fun, though not without some flaws in how teams are put together. Having the single-player mode like a training ground for the game and various weapons is such a good idea and was much appreciated, though some weapons don’t translate across in how you use them in live matches (I’m looking at you Charger).
From the moment the game started it was an actual grinning joy and wonder and being a newbie to online multiplayer i appreciated the welcoming nature of the game. The genius of Turf War let a middling player like myself come away with wins and a feeling of having played my part.
The part i struggled with is the rising difficulty.of the single-player experience. Because the mode is linear one has no choice but to do everything in order to progress, as and when you encounter it. Don’t get me wrong, it was fun and challenging .. but as i hit the last stages, I had to rethink my approach (which had been influenced by the frenetic pace of online turf wars). I progressed by taking time to observe what was ahead of me a lot more and by being more tactical, and in this way i was able to enjoy the game again. But on beginning the Octo expansion, well, they very quickly ramped up the platformy difficulty level and put it all on a countdown timer .. and it’s very very linear. I don’t know if i’ll complete this, it’s way above me and not much fun. They changed the way the single player played, took away my solution to having fun again and ..
So yes, definitely try the main game but be advised that the expansion is for gamer’s gamers. Nintendo could have taken this unique shooter in a different direction. It’s actually a little disappointing they went down the tired ‘has to get harder as it goes along platformer’ route for such a unique and fresh IP. Why not open areas you can ‘complete’ in various ways depending on play style? (shoot em up head on, the stealth approach, distract and evade ). Or how about just new and clever levels instead of increasingly harder ones?
Anyway, it’s a great start for a fresh new game and world. I mean what they do with the advancing lore is really cool. Fingers crossed Splatoon 3 has the irons kinked out and really makes a more accessible game for players of various skill levels and high interest. They almost had i
I found the single story section frustrating and eventually got stuck. Have the expansion pack too that’s even harder. The online only Turf Wars are the only reason to buy the game. Played many months of Turf Wars . The sub game Salmon Run can be fun but few online players bother with it. With Splatoon 3 coming people may migrate to that. You need online membership to play Splatoon2.
