It’s a good rack, and I’d recommend it… in general. I have some reservation if the rack would be exposed to sunlight, e.g. having windows.

Installation was not hard, however the fastening materials leave a lot to be desired. It comes with wall plugs that are 10mm, hex drive – which for so light weighted application is a massive overkill. The hex drive is 12.83mm which is close to both 13mm and 1/2″ (weird). The 10mm mounting holes means it requires at least 8mm screws, not counter sunk (if opting not to use the provided hardware) — which are uncommon. For masonry I’d have preferred 6mm plugs, plus 5mm holes – 10mm holes in masonry are just way too large.

The plastic covers are made of ABS. The mold has already worn off, so the apprentice marks to injection were quite noticeable. Unfortunately, ABS is not UV stable and it’s too brittle.

The rear tire bracket has been changed to be U shape, used to be V-shaped. Personally, I prefer the V-shape.

4 stars mostly due to mechanical construction which is excellent.

Solid, well constructed, easy to mount bike rack. Really like that it folds to the side ( not pictured in the photos) – huge space saver option! worth the price. Note, small bike (16″) pictured up front did not fit. 24″ fit great! (pictured on the middle)

I just installed this today. The install instructions were not that clear, but I figured it out. I first tried to mount the rack on my drywall. The super large hex screws (M6-60mm) had trouble tightening into the very low quality drywall anchor plug. I just didn’t get a snug fit into that plug as it was turning with the screw. So, I removed the screws from the drywall, got my studfinder, found a stud, and screwed the mount into the stud. For $90 Steadyrack could have thrown in some better threaded anchors that hold and screw in aggressively. Other than having 3 anchor holes on my drywall that I will now have to spakle and paint over, the rack as works, holds, pivots as advertised.

I’ve been using this for a year. It is rugged and served its purpose well. I don’t see that it will wear out. I mount the bike in my garage in front of my car, and it folds out of the way (no flat against the wall, but enough to be out of the way.)

THis was the second Classic Steadyrack that I have purchased and installed. Installation was exactly as described, no problems and installed in 5-10 minutes. I like the fact that you can swing your bike(s) to the left or right if you need to get them out of the way. A bit pricey for what they do, but a one time cost.

My wife has been grumpy about how I have stored the four bikes our family uses ( two are mine) for at least 5 years. She envisioned the Steadyrack holding each bike on a wall in our two car garage when it was full of to much stuff and only one car could fit in. I had our bikes in the basement but this did not work then under our deck but no good there either. Then we agreed to purge the garage over three weekends. We took everything out and threw out, donated and gave away all items we did not need. Then painted the garage, floor and all, reorganized everything, and put it all away in drawers and shelves we already had. This freed up a wall for our bikes but only with the Steadyrack. Angling the bikes gave us 29″ additional walkway compared to the bikes hanging perpendicular to the wall. This 29″ allows us to put the bikes and the second car in the garage. Especially important because we live in the US GA. Summers are hot and over time the sun will make plastic in cars brittle and crack if the sun is not blocked. Since we keep our cars decades worth putting them in a garage if possible.

Thanks Steadyrack. My wife and I both appreciate your product. But I acknowledge, Happy wife happy life : – )

My wife is happy! 4 bikes neatly stored.

This is a great bike rack, I love the hinge so I can push the hanging bike side-to-side, and I like that the rack folds up when not in use. It’s quite easy to install, but instructions could be more clear.

There are some paper installation instructions included. As a purchaser in the US these contained measurements mostly in inches, also mentioning metric equivalent. Steady rack also has an installation page on their website (/pages/installation), which is better, all in metric. And from that page you can download an installation manual PDF, also metric, which seems to be the most detailed. There are slight differences between all three, however, and I ended up reading through all of them more than once.

Some of the instructions called for a 10 mm drill bit to drill pilot holes. Some simply stated use a drill bit “smaller than the screw size”. None of the instructions told me the screw size. I eyeballed it and used a 15/64″ drill bit. I think 10 mm would have been too wide.

One slightly weird thing is that amongst the bits and pieces they provide are two rubber tips. They are only listed in one of the three forms of instructions, and it didn’t even say what they are for.

Overall I’m very happy with the product, just wish the instructions were a bit better. Despite this, I was able to figure it out and install four of these without an issue, and am very happy about my new and improved bike storage!

great bike rack, instructions could be more clea

I bought 2 for MTB and 1 for road bike. I spent way too much time trying to determine if I want these up high, level across the top, bottom, down low, etc….. Anyway, I settled on “up high”. These are easy to lift the bikes into, as well. Don’t hesitate like me. If you think you may want to put them up high and you’re having doubts about how difficult it will be to use, don’t doubt yourself. Do it…..

These are so cool. My little kids can load and unload their bikes. They also save so much space in my garage. The swivel design allows me to fold them in and they are no wider than our shelves.

The installation would have been easier if I had a socket wrench but was kinda tedious with traditional wrench. That was a necessary evil however as these racks are super bomber and never coming off the wall unintentionally.

A little pricey relative to other options, but I do not regret my purchase. The space saving was well worth it.

The Steadyrack takes a bit of work installing- not a lot, but some – but it is easy to use and very stable. The about 150 degree flexibility in swinging the bike to either side is very useful in minimizing storage space.

At first I when I saw the product I though it was fantastic. The price made me hesitate but it’s worth it! Purchased 5 for the family and we love them. Staggered the height on every other one by 3″ to create room for handle bars/access. Given the studs are every 16″ inches it is compact yet helps give more garage space. Can even tilt/angle!!

    Huge fan!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI installed these in our old garage and loved them so much, I took them when we moved!

They even hang “hard to hang” Townie Electra cruiser type bikes.

They’re sturdy, and we’ve had our bikes hanging within a couple feet of many exotic cars (for over 2 years now).

To Install: I attached 1×4’s to the drywall in our garage. (I used a stud finder and secured them, with my own screws, to the studs beneath the drywall.)

Then I used the included-bolts and secured those into the 1×4’s.

This allowed me to hang the bikes where I wanted them and didn’t restrict me to hanging them directly over the studs.

Note: I’m a 31 year old woman with basic knowledge of tools/drills/levels/etc so anyone should be able to do this.

    Holds Up Well!

I saved money by buying the used option, the racks came in perfect condition, only the packaging was marred, which was ideal for me.

Right out the box, this looked impressive. Very well packaged and shipped. The racks are bigger than expected. Installation was fairly easy if you can handle finding studs, drilling holes, and using levels. I have a small area in my garage that wanted to install two bike hangers. The bikes fit nicely and with the angles, we can easily move in and out of the garage. Just installed today, but extremely happy with how this turned out.

I purchased this for my husband. We installed it on a wall of about 10 inches between a window and a cabinet on the adjacent wall that we occasionally get into in our garage. It saves floor space, we can very easily swing it out of the way to get into the cabinet and it holds his bike securely with no damage to the light weight road bike. We will be purchasing another one or maybe even two to use for our other bikes. I can’t believe how good this works and how secure the bike feels!

The install was easy with the included hardware and instructions. I would do a “dry run” before you fully tighten down the lag screws (easier with a helper) to get the height right. I have a mountain bike with 29″ tires, and while the width is perfectly acceptable, the tire does not come fully into contact with both metal supports of the keeper. They also do not swing as tight as I would like, mainly due to the handlebars. A very innovative product though and I gained a lot of space in my garage

I have a small garage and this product will help me keep floor space and it should be easy to store the bike without having to lift it up onto something. Just wheel it up on the back wheel. It’s winter here in Wisconsin so my brother and I installed it and we wheeled the bike in place hence the bike won’t be used for a few months so I can’t give a 100% testimony of the racks functioning but I like it so far. So far so good!

I recently was relocated to Minnesota and the mew buyer wanted them. One of the first purchases I made for my new home was another set of these! These racks really work well. I purchased 4 so that we could get our bikes off the floor and on a wall. I staggered them so I could get all the bikes in a smaller area. I would have given 4.5 stars if I could. The installation instructions are available, but I had to go to their website to find the spacing for installing multiple racks next to each other either in line or staggered like I installed them. That should be a simple 1-2 lines to indicate the spacing. Customers should not have to go online and search around their site to find it.

Bought these after doing lots of research. When I finally decided I wanted the bicycles off the floor with easy access, I decided on this brand primarily for ease of use and ability to swing the bicycles 90 degrees either side to minimize the protrusion into the garage space, which is being used for a car detailing business, a workshop, and an exercise area. I decided not to mount the racks directly on the 16″OC studs because I wanted the bikes spaced about 12″OC apart to maximize wall space. I spent more time planning and measuring than my husband and I spent installing the back boards and racks. I created templates and taped them to the wall to arrange how the back boards and racks would be mounted (see picture.) Then I cut and attached the back boards (24s) for each bike, which were all approximately the same size. I staggered the height of the racks so that the handle bars would clear each other and allow the bike to be mounted closer. I am very pleased with this purchase, and would purchase more if needed. I highly recommend! Oh and our 23 yo son said they were “cool”.

We live in a small condo and have 2 bikes. They are folding bikes which makes it a bit more challenging. Storing them was always awkward at best before I found these racks. We used all sorts of other rack systems before. These ones are easy to install. They are SO practical. Very well designed. Super easy to put a bike in and out, no matter what kind of bike. They tuck out of the way when not in use. And they even rotate so I can store stuff between the bikes! I almost never rate things 5 stars but these racks have earned it!

I bought two of the “Classic versions.” Wall stands are a great space saver, but my wife and kids always found the type that hooks around the front wheel difficult to use – so they ended up never using them. The steady rack was easy to install (just follow the instructions to get the right mounting height depending on your bike size). Our bikes were typical road bikes with 27″ tires and the top bolt height for the rack was 67″ off of the floor. The front wheel rolls right into the stand (no lifting needed) and once in the stand the back wheel rests against the wall mount (approximately 1″ off the the floor). The stand holds the bike upright and straight, so there is no risk of the bike falling to one side if the front wheel gets turned or bumped. I plan to get 4 more for the kids’ mountain bikes/beach cruisers.

After buying a bike recently I kept stowing it in the garage wherever I could find space, moving it time to time trying to access the other junk. So I sought out a mounting solution.
There were many wheel and frame hooks on the market. From the cheapest to extraordinarily expensive.
I stumbled across the Steadyrack, read the reviews, watched the YouTube clips from the company and discovered they were Australian owned. Compared prices online and found the Amazon price to beat them all. It was received very quickly and I took to installing it.
The videos explain it well while the instruction sheet is a little harder to get around. After thinking I could use my own bolts I stuck with the supplied and changed out the masonry wall plugs to some better ones I had laying around.
A few measurements here, a few drill holes there and it was mounted.
Could not be more happier with the end result, maybe mounting a little more to the left but I’m ok with it.
If you have bike storage woes do not look past the Steadyrack. They have different styles for different bike types so do your research.
If I ever get another type of bike this will be my only mounting solution from here on.

The BEST bike mount solution I've ever seen!!!

I don’t usually bother leaving reviews, but I really appreciate good engineering. We’ve been trying for years to find a decent bike storage solution. We got 4 racks and mounted on every other stud in the garage. Directions were clear. The only thing missing was drill bit size (1/4″ if you’re going into a stud). The first one took about 40 minutes to figure out. the rest took about 10 minutes apiece. It’s easy to lift bikes on and off the lift, and the mount feels very sturdy. Bikes are off the floor and for the first time in a decade I can walk to the garage door without tripping.

Works exactly like it’s supposed to. The brainwork for installing it isn’t quite as simple as it would seem;, be careful to see that the wheel trough on the rack is in the correct position in the mock up for mounting hole placement which is actually done with the rack on the floor and bike backed up to wall (then you measure from the leading edge of the front tire to the wall with the rear tire abutting it)). Accounting for the projection of a base molding from the wall also can be tricky (I subtracted the depth of the base molding without realizing the base molding didn’t matter because it didn’t hit the tire).

I looked at a lot of devices for hanging bikes with a top priority bod not having to lift the bike; one was basically an arm anchored in the ceiling that used pneumatics to lift the bike flat against the ceiling but, there was some fiddling with securing it and I didn’t want a big clutter hanging overhead in my nice-looking garage, which goes for all the pulley contraptions too. I liked Steadyrack’s vertical mount too because it leaves more useable wall space, it’s clean look and after getting used to it, the ease of getting the bike into it.

I looked into MANY other bike racks before I purchased the Steadyracks. These were the only ones I found that swivel and help save space and make it very easy to access the bikes. I needed something like this because my shed is 10′ wide and my service door is directly in the middle (see picture). If I had a stationary rack the bikes would have stuck out into the middle of the doorway. I could have opted for something that I could hang the bikes on the wall above each other, but then I would have to pick up the entire bike and hoist it up 4′ to get above the bike on the floor level, which is fine for me but not the other people in the household. Plus, I don’t have enough wallspace to do that for four bikes. The Steadyrack solved all of my problems and make it super easy to access each bike by just swinging them a little to access the bike I need. (PS, please don’t judge me by the messyness of my shed, LOL)

I looked into MANY other bike racks before I purchased the Steadyracks. These were the only ones I found that swivel and help save space and make it very easy to access the bikes. I needed something like this because my shed is 10' wide and my service door is directly in the middle (see picture). If I had a stationary rack the bikes would have stuck out into the middle of the doorway. I could have opted for something that I could hang the bikes on the wall above each other, but then I would have to pick up the entire bike and hoist it up 4' to get above the bike on the floor level, which is fine for me but not the other people in the household. Plus, I don't have enough wallspace to do that for four bikes. The Steadyrack solved all of my problems and make it super easy to access each bike by just swinging them a little to access the bike I need.

This is the best solution for bike storage. It is sturdy and securely holds the bikes even without the lower back tire cup/guide. It was easy to install and is simple to use. Total bonus that they hinge such that 2 bikes can nestle closer taking up less space. The bikes also aren’t quite vertical as the wall is not uniform in thickness: thicker foundation wall at the bottom with frame/drywall above it. It still is secure. Our garage is pretty tight, and I have no concerns of a bike falling on the car parked nearby even if jostled or bumped.

Muy prctico para almacenar la bicicleta en un espacio pequeo, ya que permite mover el brazo del soporte hacia la izquierda o derecha.

We had bike hooks on an Ikea Elfa garage rack. It was hard to get a full size bike on to those and the rubber stuff on the hooks kept ripping and coming off. Major pain. Installed one of these for my wife’s bike and it works great. I will be reconfiguring our wall storage to accommodate more of these. One caution: the listing says the standard size will work up to 2.4″ tires. it won’t I’ve tried Furthermore, the box it comes in says maximum size is 2.2″ I was able to get my son’s 2.25″ tires to work with very little room to spare, but my 2.35″ front tire will NOT work. My advice — if your tires are bigger than 2.2″ get the mountain version.

I like this rack very much, and it’s a perfect solution for holding my 39-pound vintage bicycle in my small condo. It’s easy to use, and swings far enough that the bicycle’s pedal is right up against the wall, so that is what determines how flat it can fold. I tried a couple of other products, but with this one I don’t have to lift that very heavy bicycle, and it is also held off the ground so that I can sweep underneath it and it doesn’t catch dust bunnies. However, I followed the instructions for measuring so that the bike would be 3 inches off the ground, and somehow it ended up only 1 inch off the ground. I’m not sure what happened there, but I didn’t realize this until after it was already installed, so I’m not gonna go back and drill a bunch more holes in my wall to raise it up another couple of inches. I was able to drill one of the bolts into a stud, and one had to go into drywall with an anchor, so make sure you pay attention to what surface you are drilling into. I think the only other thing I want to do is put a little bit of vinyl sheeting behind the lower tire support, to guard against any scuffs on my wall. That is what I have done with my other bikes where they are close to the wall. I will say that when I am putting the bike on the rack, if I don’t line up the front wheel exactly with the rack it will move side to side and make it hard to put the bike on. So just line it up properly, and it rolls right on and it’s held very securely. I did try rolling my mountain bike onto this, and it did work, and I think it would work with just about any bike except for one with exceptionally wide tires..

My kids put their bikes away into this bike rack which means it’s a success! I’ve tried EVERY bike rack solution that exists…hooks on the front tire, hooks on the frame, suspended from the ceiling, floor racks, etc. The kids never put them away because they said it was too hard…or they took up too much space…floor racks. They put them away into the SteadyRack.

I also love them because I can install them very close to one another reducing the amount of overall space needed for bike storage. TIP: google “steadyrack spacing guide” and do the staggered installation…instructions say about 13 1/2″, I moved them even closer at 12″ and it works.

We just sold our house and the buyer requested we leave the racks. I immediately bought and installed 5 more racks for our new home.

It came out of the box covered in what looked like mold but was actually corrosion. Since it doesn’t affect the structural integrity of the rack, I went ahead and installed it. It won’t be exposed to rain, since it’s inside the garage. It was easy to install, and with bum rotator cuffs it’s much easier to put the bike on this rack than on the ceiling hooks I’ve been using. I suppose if someone was concerned about the corrosion they could use steel wool to polish the rack, but hey, it’s in the garage for pete’s sake. Not like it’s in the living room.

Realmente es un sistema muy cmodo de utilizar una vez instalado. Permite sujetar la bicicleta en vertical sin tener que levantarla a pulso. La posibilidad de girar hacia los lados tambin ayuda a que sea ms versatil. Merece la pena.

Nice rack, easy to install, pivot feature is very nice and makes it easier to mount in an odd or unused space. The rack straight out of the box felt a little flimsy, but the support from the massive stud bolts really stiffens the rack up and makes it impressive. Very little flex when folding and unfolding, no bounce when the bike is mounted. The pivot is smooth and feels stable. I’m glad I mounted it before I made any decisions. The only reason for the -1 star is that my rack came in an undamaged and taped box, but one of the end caps that cover the mounting screws was not in the box when I opened it. The whole thing works without the second end cap, but is isn’t as pictured and I don’t know if there is only supposed to be one.

These mounts are solid. Keeps the bikes where they belong. I was tired of previous racks falling over if bumped and so on. We put these up for our two bikes and haven’t looked back. Saves room in the apartment and keeps the bikes safe from accidental damage. Pretty easy loading and unloading. I would buy again.

Created a LOT of extra floor space in my shed. My kids can VERY easily get their bikes off and with only a bit of help to get the front tire up, they can roll the bike easily back on their racks. They are also no longer knocking other bikes down getting their own.
Wouldn’t recommend for road bike with thin tires.

These were so easy to install. The only thing missing from the directions were how far apart to space multiple racks but a quick site search found the answer on their HELP section. The fact that you can swivel them to the side is awesome and an important requirement for me was that my kids can get them on and off without me. Hanging bikes from the ceiling was not going to work for that. Now in the video the little kid made it looks effortless. I will day for my daughter who is shorter it was a little bit more challenging than how they have it shown, but a little practice should fix that up easily.

Bought two of these after looking at many other storage options, reading reviews, and even watching a couple of amateur YouTube installation videos. The only really difficult part of the installation was determining how high to drill the first hole. I just followed the instructions – put the back tire against the wall, place the rack on the ground under the front wheel, and measure. I added an inch to ensure that the back wheel was off the floor when the bike was being stored, put the rack on the wall, drilled four holes, and was done. Including measuring several times, and going really slowly, mounting the first one took an hour. The second one was up in ten minutes. We love the way the bikes look, and the rotating feature moves them out of the way. The racks are simple to use – my 5’2″, 105 lb. wife has no trouble getting her Electra Townie on and off by herself.

I love how the bikes hang, well secured, with no scratching on the bike frames. The bikes and be easily moved towards the wall making the whole setup take less garage space.
