The machine makes really good coffee with a great crema. Other revues said that coffee splashes would not wipe off and made the machine look awful. I am glad that I took no notice as thus has not happened. Extremely good value for money.
Christmas present for my wife she loves the nice coffee it makes, happy wife happy life
Ordered this after sending back a faulty semi automatic version, wish I’d got this first! Other reviews put me off the manual version plus it wasn’t available in the green so went with the semi automatic. I’m kind of glad it was faulty lol few tips to counteract the issues other people mentioned #1 run 2 tanks of water through it before making first coffee, no plastic taste #2 use beans and fresh grind them I’ve tried it with pre ground version same brand and strength and fresh ground beans make all the difference! #3 200ml of milk in a 350ml jug gives what would be a medium size drink in Costa and the steam wand has no issues with that amount. #4 make sure the steam dial is at 0 and wait for the light, yes a small amount of water will come out when you first turn the dial not enough to effect the taste of your coffee but if it’s an issue for you then just have a cup to hand catch the water turn off put milk under and turn dial all the way round. #4 after making coffee rinse milk jug fill with water and use it to clean the wand by running steam for a few seconds before turning off and wiping the outside it will stop build up, the outside of wand comes off to allow cleaning. It’s pretty simple really and all in the instructions.
If your the kind of person who likes really really good expensive coffee then maybe buy a really expensive machine, if like me you just want a decent drink on par with Costa/Starbucks then you’ll probably love this
We bought kettle as well. Cosy style, works perfectly well
I brought this as it seemed the best out of the more cheaper options and I am not disappointed.
Some reviews complained about it being flimsy, cheap, etc but in reality, it’s a well constructed machine. The first run is noisy but that’s cos of air entering the pump. It can be noisy when operating but not louder than a washing machine. Swan should have used rubber feet not plastic for shock absorption but tbh it does a good coffee. It heats up fast and the dial is easy to read, the steam wand is easy to maneuver and operate. It’s small but for compact kitchens like mine it’s great! The soft touch plastic is nice and those moaning is gets stained easily, well, ne more careful then? I’ve made a few and not spilt it. The coffee holder is sturdy, was expecting the handle and accent to be wood but its all soft plastic. The two filters are great, the plastic tamper is nothing to scream about but it does the job.
The water tank is generous and easily removable with a carry handle too!
Instructions easy to read
All in all I’m glad I chose the Swan one over the Delonghi.
Very hard to clean the coffee stains off the grey. Cant froth milk adequately as the frothing arm is so short.
We’ve had a number of coffee machines over the years and this is the closest o the ‘real thing’ anywhere round the 100 budget. We use ground coffee and ese pods and both produce really good flavour. Easy to use and definitely impressive on the kitchen counter! Gets lots of positive comments. The milk frother is a bit of a pest to clean. Best bet seems to be to clean it inside and out after ever use. Only negative is the body of the machine has stained with the coffee. Doesn’t bother us, but might annoy some folk…
Very good looking design. This was bought as a gift for parents at Christmas. They really like it and it fits perfectly in their kitchen. Does take a bit of time to heat to a suitable temperature to steam but otherwise a solid purchase.
I am very dissatisfied with this machine. From the first use there was a large stain of coffee and I could not clean it with froth from using very high quality detergents, despite the beauty of the shape !! I hope Swan company will take this issue seriously and develop the product because its price is high compared to poor quality !!!
Excellent product and saying this after trying different coffee machines , totally recommended !
Had this for a fair 3 months now and soo impressed. Was really skeptical at first as it’s such a reasonable price but it really hasn’t failed me. Obviously take the price into consideration like you’re not spending but you really can get a proper coffee out of this machine. Latte, cappuccino, a gorgeous espresso. Love it, my family all love it too. Doesn’t take too long to heat up and serves a hot cup.
his is a great machine. A lot of reviews mention staining and it is true it does stain really easily. If you put a small bleach solution onto a cloth or kitchen wipe and leave on the drip tray after you have made your drink, the stain has gone after a while. just wipe any bleach trace off after.
Lovey, got the idea from a cleaning channel on YouTube called Just Jade, really glad I’ve got this in my life, really good video showing this produc
Amazing coffee machine, tastes great… looks fab in my kitchen, would highly recommend
Much cheaper in long run than other makes and coffee taste like in coffee shops. Very pleased
Makes very nice coffee. First impression is that it feels more light and plastic than it looks. But that’s not a big issue. It’s not too big which is a good thing for kitchen space but that does mean mugs barely fit onto the tray when the handle is engaged. Making coffee is straightforward but requires a few steps. The machine needs to be prepared: water added to the back, then pumped through to heat the machine. Then the grounds prepared and loaded. This takes about a minute. A packed 2 portion espresso will take another minute or so to trickle through. With two cups I often feel the need to add another half portion to get the strength I want. The steamer then needs to heat up, which is about another 30 seconds, then the milk frothing typically takes me another minute. So all in all its an average of 4 minutes for me with a few steps. But the outcome is very nice.
Very nice looking expresso. Looks good on the kitchen side. Heats up quickly too. A nice touch that you can remove drip tray and fit a full sized mug under.
i used to work in costa for 4 years and for a home coffee machine its pretty good.
A few tips i found make the machine work a little better, ditch the sleeve off the steam arm its more to clean and it doesnt do a very good job at frothing the milk your better off just using the tip of the steam arm in the milk to froth it and lifting it slightly out of the milk. a 400-500ml milk jug is the best to use as the steam arm is a little short.
i saw some reviews about the coffee running like water if thats happening then you coffee grind is off and too course it needs to be finer and not tamped to hard so you get a good flow of coffee and a nice creme on the espresso.
i also saw about the coffee machine discolouring slightly over time, it can happen i have a few slightly discolouration’s on it but honestly its not that noticeable but more to the point coffee can stain clothes and teeth etc so what do you expect?
5/5 product does what it says on the tin, works well and for a good price, just need the knowledge to make the coffee properly.
I used to work in Aroma coffee shop years ago and this little machine is almost as good as an industrial one. It is quite sturdy and make a fabulous coffee. The frother, which I thought might be a hit and miss, is actually my favourite part. It froths really well and gives that luxury feel of when you have a good coffee in a cafe.
I am so thrilled and literally have to stop myself from making too many cups of cappuccino for myself. Another thing is that I am so exited and impressed by it that I purchased another for my in-laws house, so even when I am there I get a wonderful cup of coffee!
I highly recommend this coffee maker!!!
Bought this machine as a Christmas present and it has proved to be every good as I expected. Have made lattes, cappuccinos and mochas so far without any issues. Have purchased a metal jug and thermometer for the milk which make life a lot easier. Nice looking machine.
Makes excellent expresso with a really thick crema on top. We put three tanks of water through before use to get rid of new plastic smell and then it took another four double espresso before we started to get the crema, really important that the porta filter just gets rinsed and not washed so as to keep the oils and produce the crema on the espresso. The milk steamer is great and consistently produces foamy hot milk. We have got the dark grey and have been wiping everything down after each use so no staining as yet. The pictures you see of staining are of the cream/white versions and it’s the drip tray, which is hidden as soon as the metal part goes on top of it. We are very happy with our purchase so far, it looks great and makes really lovely coffee too. The price is good too.
Arrived as a Christmas present by my family. As a coffee lover I have very high standards and this coffee machine is so good! price, quality check check!!
and the vintage design! OMG <3
Amazing value for money. Have been using it for over a month now. We had no issues or whatsoever. Makes amazing coffee, warms up fast and it’s easy to clean. Loving it!
What a great little machine!
Was worried about whether I could justify buying this, but I’ve had it about a month and use it multiple times per day.
I’m in no way a coffee connoisseur, but I have found that I get a nicer cup with this machine than at any of the big high street chains.
The machine is quite light so it does take two hands to secure and remove the portafilter but I don’t find this an inconvenience.
Milk frother works a treat afrer watching a few tutorial videos on YouTube to get the technique right.
Overall, a fantastic piece of kit – will never make coffee with a kettle again!
WARNING – DO NOT BUY A LIGHT COLOURED MACHINE as they stain like mad! I was advised by Swan customer service that Astonish cup cleaner would help to little or no avail. I reported this back to Swan customer service who said they guaranteed the manufacture of the machine but not the cosmetics so no joy there. Returned it to Amazon and will look for a replacement but very disappointed in Swans response
Just received our Swan Retro Coffee machine. We waited until the Nordic colour was available in stock only to receive the light grey version??? Disappointed to say the least but will give it a go, we’ve waited this long.
Opted for the Nordic with the wood, little bit more expensive, but hey…we are in lockdown and you gotta treat yo self.
Great looking straight out the box! I was starting to get excited…
I ground me some fresh Nicaraguan which cups at 88.38 so I thought my new kitchen friend deserved to have something nice on its first run through!
Filled the tank up with BOTTLED water (tap water ridicules these machines with scale, beware!)
Heated up quick and poured my shot, my first beautiful espresso with a tempting crema for weeks, heaven!
Chinned that as I was so excited and pulled another shot to make me a cappuccino! Took my 12oz/350ml milk pitcher (you wouldn’t want anything bigger for one cup to ensure the wand is under the surface of the milk) and started to steam. It was easy and great results, foamy milk! (my milk of choice is Minor Figures Oat Milk!)
Would definitely recommend, follow the instructions for set up and use, watch some videos if you aren’t familiar with espresso machines and enjoy your coffee!!!
Love this little espresso machine. Very easy to use, even for someone not particularly brilliant in the technical department. Does the job and looks fantastic.
It is a very nice coffee machine. It works well, fast and very fancy looking for the price. You will need a lower cup to use this.
