Bought as a gift for my partner he uses it most days, loves i
I bought this espresso machine in February 2021. Have to say, I saved a lot of money because of it, as I was buying coffee every morning from my local coffee shop. I still buy coffee from those places but now I pay 10 for a bag of artisan freshly grounded coffee that makes me up to 15-20 flat whites.
The machine is great if you want good coffee and not spend hundreds. In fairness, I only buy artisan high-quality coffee so I am not sure about off the shelf kind of coffee.
After a year I learned how to make latte arts – yes you can definitely do it with this machine.
Again, if you know the market you know that the price is very cheap for this, however, I would rather make my own coffee than drink from Starbucks or Costa. Way smoother and tastier.
After doing a lot of research of different machines I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on my first at home coffee machine. I ordered this one and was a little skeptical based on some other negative reviews.
I’m really please, I’ve had this machine for a few months now. I followed the instructions precisely at first, and it’s simple and second nature to do the various steps/buttons now.
I use the coffee maker every day and I love it. It does everything I need/want it to do and I definitely don’t see the point in spending more for anything other than aesthetics or very large families etc.
I’ve encountered a few ‘problems’ that are also mentioned in other reviews and here is how I resolved them;
Light colour coffee coming out : In the first few seconds the coffee is very dark then goes light quickly as it pours, I believe some of this is due to aeration as in the cup it still looks pretty dark. I also needed to adjust my expectation. This machine produces an espresso – not a full cup of coffee. I usually have a latte/flat white but if I have an americano style coffee I pour the espresso and top up using the kettle.
Milk not hot enough – keep it going for longer 😀 it does take longer than I initially expected to get piping hot
‘Exploding’ – this has happened twice. Not an explosion, the filter porter has come loose and popped off with the pressure. It didn’t break my cup but could easily break a glass cup. The first time I was rushing and didn’t securely lock the portafilter well enough. The second time there must have been some old coffee grids etc where the portafilter locks in because it seemed to glide into place without effort and so when it got going inevitably slid back off. So, I’d say push it into place firmly and remove before switching to the steam function.
Larger 2-cup filter not working. Only a drip came out of the larger 2-cup/extra shot filter at first. After some time I realised it’s because it needs more pressure to push through the extra grounds. The ‘ready’ green light may come on but if it’s not coming out effectively I just wait an extra 30 secs and it’s fine when I try again.
Wand not long enough. I usually make one cup at a time. My standard size jug needs to be 2/3 filled to work with this length of wand so means making too much hot milk and being wasteful. So, using a cup or smaller jug is needed.
Very happy with the coffee quality, looks great. Not used the geothermal as coffee comes out with some froth which is sufficie
I didn’t like that it could take a while to make a coffee and the instructions were confusing.
best coffee i have ever made best machine for the price
I was optimistic about buying this product after reading the recent reviews but so pleased I did. Its my first espresso machine as have previously had tassimo machines but I had had enough of the plastic waste.
The machine looks lovely on my kitchen side, it is straight forward to use once you follow the instructions and it makes lovely coffee- my husband said its much better than my old tassimo.
It took me a couple of attempts to find the right strength coffee blend for my tastes and I now only use the large grounds holder and minimum of 5 strength coffee. This works great. I am very impressed for the amount I paid for it!
I chopped and changed my mind several times before purchase. I have a Tassimo and was worried from the reviews this would be a bit fiddly. Well it isn’t, it’s an absolute joy to use and the coffee is fab! Although it does rely on the coffee you use as other reviews suggest. I have had real fun getting used to it and thoroughly recommend it. I have other swan retro appliances and love the whole look they provide in the kitchen.
The water pressure and temprature is bang on, really easy to use and makes a great coffee what more do you want to know?
Been using it a while now. Makes fantastic frothy milk and coffee. Only gripe is the distance from tray to bottom of coffee holder could be greater, cannot get standard mug size under it easily
Really like this machine, had a few different ones but this one consistently makes a good coffee, take a bit of time to fine tune it to your needs, but worth preserving, so far so good.
Ala
Really good for the money and size. Unfortunately the first was faulty and had to send back as steam kept coming out, regardless of the setting being on/off. Resolved by Amazon really quickly.
Second one is working perfectly, fingers crossed. Not the strongest coffee ever but will try a few different types of coffee to find something that works best and maybe buy a grinder.
Love the steam wand.
Easy, quick option if you’re bored of your current method and want a bit of luxury from home.
Really pleased with it. Heats up very quickly and makes a cracking espresso. Very simple to use and have used it muktplie times per day since owning it.
Only minor complaint is it makes quite a bit of noise if the bottom tray isn’t in properly (and even if it is).
I’ve owned lots of coffee machines, and this is by far the best. I love its retro appearance, it’s simple to use, easy to clean and it produces fantastic coffee every time. This makes lattes as good as any I’ve bought. Exceptional value for money too – buy this!
Some times it doesn’t get up to steam you have to turn off on again the steam arm is too short so had to get a thin tall cup to froth the milk once I got use to the machine it does turn out good cup of coffee I do have a professional CAFE machine you be hard to see the difference in the end result it does get to heat quickly easy to clean room comes with a single cup and a double cup dispenser And has a scoop and a press. You need lower coffee cups to get in under the arm.
An excellent cup of coffee every time, also try a hack, chop up a slice of lemon tiny bits of ginger and put this inside where you normally put the coffee, it’s a great change
It produces a nice cup of coffee, easy to use and looks great on the worktop. Great value for money. I had a tasimo and felt guilty about using the pods as they are bad for the environment. This is great as I get a better tasting cup of coffee by using my own ground coffee.
I love this coffee machine! Easy to use, full barista experience if using fresh ground coffee – expressos, cappuccino and americanos all consistently good..always correct temp ..nice to have temp gauge so you know when machine is ready (ie 90 degrees).. milk frothier and steamer also works fab every time. Also very easy to cleancan’t see why anyone would pay more..machine looks great as well!
Love this machine! It takes a bit of getting used to. You need to let the machine heat up to do the shot first then heat up again to use the steam wand. But I love it!
Love my new Swan retro pump espresso coffee machine. It looks stunning but also works really well. Yes, you have to follow the instructions a few times to get the hang of it and a handy online tutorial helps too. But it’s well worth it for quality coffee shop level coffee at home. Highly recommended.
This product is great just needs the manual to go with it even tho I brought a used one still needs the manual part from that easy to set up . And easy to use once I watched couple of videos
You have to remember to turn off the coffee button or it floods. Nice frothy coffee, with a steamer for frothing milk. Used for past month. You have to wait a few seconds for it to heat up
I like most of the features on this machine. its easy to use and produces a nice easpesso or cappuccino. No its not ‘all singing and dancing’, but then it cost me just under 80 rather than the hundreds that some of the more pretentious home machines cost. I’ve only had it about 3 weeks, and I’m used to a basic machine lasting perhaps 5 years before any serious failure – so we’ll see how it goes. So far so good and recommended.
I bought this to see whether I would use a coffee machine daily or even if enough to justify buying a more expensive model. On opening the box though I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, style and size, and how it eventually looked on the countertop.
To be fair, I wasn’t expecting this machine to be as good as it is. Easy to use, good pressure to give you a perfect crema layer on your espresso and the milk steamer is also quite powerful – ideal for latte’s, short continental style and cappuccino’s.
I’ve found the best coffee is a level scoop (scoop provided with machine) of a dark roast but I prefer strong coffee so it’s down to how you personally like yours.
The coffee press is easy to use and clean after use, I do find that sometimes if I use a coarser grind that they form hard cakes which are quite difficult to remove but that’s just a minor issue.
I’m so happy with this machine that I’ve decided that I don’t need to upgrade any time soon.
Looks good, does the job exceptionally well and is great value for money.
I liked that you can use ground coffee for this to give it an intense flavour, but the water tank is rather small, it doesn’t seam all that sturdy and it takes quite a bit to get your coffee going
For the price you pay the quality is amazing and it gets you going
Likes:
easy to use
Easy to clean
Cheap
Dislikes:
Short steam wand
Water tank leaks if water left in for long periods (more than few hours)
Only very short height mugs will fit under machine
Overall the machine is very good for the price. Takes a while to get use too, the steam arm is not the most powerful so takes a while to steam the milk. Not really suited to make multiple coffees in a short period of time. But for a machine that cost less than 100, it is worth the money.
Love this machine. Only made espresso so far but its fantastic, and once you’ve got the hang of it it’s so easy to use. Love the retro look. It looks so smart on the worktop. Easy and fast. Lovely sized water tank on the back. Be sure to remove the little red rubber plug before first use!
Great little coffee machine, very lightweight. After a year of use up to 3 times per day. It stopped working. I contacted amazon at 7pm on a Sunday after a few checks to see where the problem was, they sent me a new one which arrived 11am the next day. Great service.

I’d had been shopping around for an espresso machine for a few months and finally decided on this one. It was well packaged and easy to set up.
Good points.
It makes a nice strong espresso pretty quickly. Doesn’t take forever to heat up.
The coffee has a nice crema on top every time.
Double and single filters included as well as a scoop and tamp.
It heats the milk nicely and is easy to froth up for a cappuccino or latte.
It’s easy to clean.
The coffee tastes great when made into a latte. Although a couple of practice runs were needed to get it right.
I don’t drink espressos so I don’t know how they taste.
Bad points.
When unlocking the arm where the coffee is added. (no idea what it’s called) I noticed it leaves a bit of water in it. Not really a problem but just be aware of a little pool
The milk frothing arm seems to get a bit too hot and the milk doesn’t wipe off easily as it is cooked on. Comes off with spray though.
The water tank isn’t very easy to fill. The opening is quite narrow.
I’ve had it a few days and so far I am very happy with it. No real issues. I would highly recommend it for a first machine and when I bought it it was about 80 so much cheaper than the other well know branded budget machines
For the price this is a good coffee maker and does the job, although it’s not straightforward. You have to preheat to get a good temperature and you have to then preheat the steam and the steam wand is so short you can only use a tiny jug.
Saying that I am very satisfied with the end result, a lovely espresso with steamed or frothy milk. Once you get used to it it doesn’t take long to get a perfect coffee just how you like it.
