I’m only a few days in but I can see what the hype is about. Atmospheric, engaging main quest and side quests and lots of scope to develop your character and tweak weapons. One of the best games I have played. If you like Skyrim, you will love this!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI see what the fuss is about and why this is a ‘Game Of The Year now. Tons of quests and things to find, do and fight and an in game card game, that at first baffles and frustrates but still fascinates. You have to build up your ‘Witcher’ character from the off, to be able to tackle increasingly more difficult quests but that’s true with most RPG games nowadays and it’s one for patient people, but the depth of interaction in doing so is rewarded as you progress. My only whinge would be that the female characters are in some cases, quite stunning but the men…I also get cheesed off with the same ugly guy faces ending up on everyone from bandits to villagers to soldiers so it’s not like you can avoid it if there’s dialogue, but that’s trivial and the rest of the game is anything but. Definitely worth your money and time and certainly a ‘Game Of The Year’ and it’s production as a subsequent Henry Cavill vehicle.

Fantastic game, great story and gameplay. By far, the best game I’ve played this console generation.

Anyone I know who has played it, loved it too and not a bad thing to say about it.

I played the game in full, including all the DLC and side missions which took me about 6 months.

For the price the Game of the Year edition you cannot go wrong.

    Cannot recommend this game enough.

The game alone is worth the money, it’s hugeee & gorgeous.
Takes about 6/7 hours to get into it, but you will easily spend 80+ hours if you want to play the secondary quests, witcher contracts etc..
And then theres the two expansion DLCs, which add even more depth.

The witcher 3 has it all great charecters. One of the best storys I have ever seen in a game. A realy good fluid combat system decent graphics. And well over 100 hours of gameplay if you like me are a completionist.

Geralt is definatly one of the best lead charecters I have ever seen in a game franchise.

Amazing game, enjoyed almost every second of it. There’s loads of different ways to evolve your character from your choices in storymode interactions across to how you spend your talent points and gem slots. Also gwent is a really fun minigame that I found myself spending hours in after I’d got over the initial learning curve

The Witcher 3 could perhaps be one of the best ‘digital’ experiences I have ever had. Right from the beginning there is a sense of loneliness as you try to do your thing whilst many obstacles seem to obscure your path. The world is open and you can do anything you please, although thanks to character progress and level, some areas of the game are near impossible with a very low level Geralt. This is the game Skyrim should have been!

The framerate in the Xbox One X was very stable and can safely say it is one of the best looking games I have yet played. I am now going to replay the game on my PC (its that good!).

A must have for action RPG fans. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is smooth and the story as well as the characters are fascinating. There is also an optionto play the game with Polish voices which I find is a really good addition and adds to the atmosphere, but the English voice actors did a fantastic job in my opinion. The game gets 5 stars from me. Plus the price was reasonable and all the content is already on the disc, so no need to download any extra dlc, everything is in one package.

This game takes some time to get into, but once you get used to the controls and the menu system, this game is unsurpassed in its depth and storytelling. It is truly an adult game based in a dark world, often without clear good vs evil choices. The combat system with its various weapons, potions and spells is complex and interesting, but not the greatest ever. However the story, characters and immersion are simply brilliant.

I only wish I could play the earlier games to really follow the entire story. I tried playing Witcher 2 but it is horribly clunky by comparison; I found the combat and menu system made it too awkward to enjoy, even if the story is still extremely strong. I hate to think what Witcher 1 feels like to play nowadays!

I bought this on offer a year ago and barely scratched the surface as I had a backlog of games. Then when I had chance I decided to commit some actual time to it’s and I was not disappointed!

I love RPG games but not usually into the fantasy ones. This has converted me. Beautiful graphics, great sound track, rich layered characters. Detailed lore and choices do affect the storyline and characters lives.

The Game of the year edition has two gigantic DLC’s that I am no where near yet.

If you want one game you can buy and just play and play and play with utter satisfaction then I would recommend this. A lot of love and time went into making this. I can only imagine how good Cyber Punk 2077 (by same studios out next year) will be! Bargain. Don’t even think just buy i

Amazing. Storyline is just fantastic, better than the trash on tv – although I heard they’re making a series out of this! Would be hard to live up to this game. The graphics are stunning and the quests are endless. From main missions to small side missions they’re all really enjoyable. The characters are interesting and so are the monsters! If you like watching game of thrones, this game is for you. I would happily play again one day!

Golden Review Award: 37 From Our UsersThe best game ever made? Well, it is certainly one of them. The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt is mind-blowing in its scale, its scope and its attention to detail; this game was made with passion and it shows.

Initially, I wasn’t so sure. The mechanics of the combat system felt clunky and the extensive menus were overwhelming. However, it doesn’t take long for it all to make sense. It soon becomes apparent that there is far more to the combat than simply rolling towards the opponent, striking and rolling away again. Oils, potions and ‘signs’ all play their part, helping to lend an advantage in a fight, but it doesn’t take too long for the rolling, striking, dodging and counter-attacking to become intuitive and the whole process begins to feel like fun.

The learning curve is fairly kind to begin with, easing the player into everything, and the multiple menus for levelling up, enhancing weapons and armour, crafting potions, oils and bombs, etc., start to feel relevant and user-friendly. Furthermore, all of the tutorials can be revisited, although I have never felt the need to go back to them.

I hadn’t played either of the prequel games or read any of the books prior to starting The Witcher 3 and I have to admit that whilst the game is perfectly playable without having done so, the experience would have been enriched with more background knowledge. There are some references to situations and characters that are clearly based on prior events and I found myself having to guess at dialogue choices a couple of times. The on-screen characters evidently knew what was being spoken about, but I had no clue at all. I must emphasise that this is really a minor point, although I felt it worth mentioning.

Another slight irritation is the occasional bug. There was nothing ‘game-breaking’, although I have noticed that the failure to complete one quest in good time (before another certain quest began) meant that I had failed the quest in question. Other glitches are mostly to do with graphics, but they are few and far between and I would be surprised if they didn’t exist at all, given the colossal scale of the game.

The Witcher 3 is a very grown-up game. Expect violence, of course, as well as some horror, but also expect sex, nudity and copious amounts of bad language. Whilst I can understand that some people would find these elements to be off-putting or inappropriate, I feel that — overall — they are in-keeping with the world and the narrative of the game, greatly enhancing the whole experience. It feels like a mature, grown-up game for adults and I love it all the more for that. It doesn’t patronise and it doesn’t pull its punches. Instead, it takes the player on an incredible journey that is full of both light and dark moments, not to mention moral and personal choices that can at times be truly difficult and challenging.

The vast and intricately detailed world is made all the more believable thanks to the luscious graphics (I’m playing the game on an Xbox One X via a 4k TV) and the characters that are encountered are made more believable, increasing the player’s sense of empathy with them, due to the clever use of dialog and mostly excellent voice-acting.

I’ve been playing The Witcher 3: The wild Hunt for what feels like ages now and I am only approaching about two-thirds of the way through. Throughout my considerable years of gaming, few titles have gripped me this strongly for this long and there are still the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansion packs to play through!

I have truly grown to love it. Its flaws are miniscule in the scheme of things, dwarfed by the grand scale of everything else and it is absolutely one of my favourite games of all time.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersAlready owned the game, but purchased the Game of the Year edition on sale so I could enjoy it again and get the double achievements for it.

I’ve been gaming since the late 80s and I can say this is my favourite game of all time (Unless they CD Project Red decide to make another Witcher game). I can’t see how any game can top this, the world, the characters, the story, the gameplay, the combat, the sense of humour, it was a pleasure to play and still is!

Can’t recommend it enough, and if you enjoy it you’re probably going to end up purchasing the books … the start of an obsession!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe story and world that has been created for this game is truly impressive. Strong characters, decent stories and a myriad of side missions made this one of the most engrossing games I’ve played. Even the expansions Blood & Wine and Heart of Stone go beyond that of many games themselves.

Combat feels like there is skill to it, particularly at higher difficulties, as it’s focused on a mix of dodging, preparation and tactics. Powerful enemies at higher levels can be slain if you know what you’re doing, yet being outnumbered by lesser foes can be fatal if your not careful.

The card game Gwent is worth a mention as most mini-games are dire. But this one truly gets addictive once your into it.

The game isn’t perfect, but fortunately the downsides are more of a nuisance than a problem. The inventory design is a mess as it offers no useful filtering or sorting. The whole foraging for herbs is effectively pointless as you only need to make a potion once and crafting could also have been better implemented too.

It’s easy to see why Witcher 3 has won so many awards as it is so absorbing. Easily one of the best games in recent times.

his game is amazing!! the best action RPG ever I’ve played amazing games like blood borne and nioh and this is up there. The amazing medieval fairy tale open world has so much to offer through it’s upgrade mechanics to it’s use of magic and crafting of weaponry and armour..it has you busy all the time. The story line is very engaging every decision you make paints a unique path unlike most games which approach a linear route, every decision you make creates a unique destiny for the story and ending..the dialogue is so well scripted and engaging half the time your just sat there watching it like a tv show..I really loved this game it touched me emotionally unlike other games I was gutted when it ended. I really look forward to a new witcher! I hope it lives up to this. the extra context is really good. character models and the variety of enemy’s it gives is impressive and creative..CD projekt red well done!!!

Arrived quickly in mint condition. Reason for 4 stars, I don’t actually enjoy the game, it’s not immersive enough, it keeps making you read long paragraphs and then shows you 2 long minute in game movies, I’m sure this would stop as you progress but it is very annoying at the start. If your looking for an open world.. buy skyrim

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersOne of the best open world Rpgs I have ever played and experienced the world, characters and story are fantastic even though I didnt play the previous 2 games before trying it. The DLC especially Blood And Wine were amazing too id even dare say its the best DLC ive ever played in a game.
There is so many hours of enjoyment in this game I played it flat out for weeks and even when i went away for a week on a trip I was still thinking about playing it. The music is great some times i even listen to the soundtrack of it on youtube its that good.
You really end up caring about what happens the characters and world you inhabit while playing and the combat system is pretty solid and fun.

The only thing I didn’t really like was the Lvling system a lot of the time it felt like you have to sacrifice using cool abilities to go for stuff that is effective so feels like you are missing a lot of the game especially on new game + so you are pressured into playing certain builds that arent really your style alot of the time so I feel it only really takes away from the game.
Id say if they would have fleshed out the rpg elements to the game and gave it more depth this game would be the best game of all time at least for me haha the amount of value you get from this game is amazing in this day in age so if you are on the fence about buying this game try it out you wont regret it.

All in all this is a magnificent immersive game that really drags you into the story. I loved the Geralt of Rivia books and found this to be a excellent adaptation of the world. Gameplay is slick and intuitive and the beginning section is nicely structured to teach you the mechanics without seeming too much of a tutorial.
I think this is a competitor with the Elder scroll games for the title of best RPG out there. I cannot recommend it highly enough to fans of this type of game.

  72. Wendy Lohr says:

What an amazing game, in my opinion the best single player game ever. The story is amazing I found I got way to into it in such a way that there were times when I played more than 5 hours in one session of just the main missions, they aren’t at all repetitive like some other games can be, and each one has a varying impact on the whole story for example there are times where you make a decision at one point and it can have an impact much further down the line. Even out of the missions there is plenty to do you can explore for hours finding different armour sets and resources. The armour sets have different bonuses, the best coming from different witcher schools for example I have feline gear which gives damage boosts.
Alongside the main game with the game of the year editon you get the two dlcs ‘hearts of stone’ and ‘blood and wine’ which are both insanely good and frankly for what you get with them they could be stand-alone games and each have about a 10 hour campaign with an extra 20 hours between the two of side missions. With a large number of extra items and gear along with an extension to an existing area with hearts of stone and a whole new one for blood and wine.
The only things I don’t like about the game are in my 90+ hours of playing I have come across a huge number of texture glitches and the swimming mechanic is incredibly annoying. To be honest though these are pretty minor, the pros definitely out weigh the cons to a huge degree.
Overall this game has a great story with great characters, the main and side missions are fun and not at all repetitive but the best part about it is there is so much to do, to complete all the missions in the main game and dlc it will take at least 200 hours. Personally, I would say it is game of the decade, definitely worth every penny.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersGreat game. So so big, you can easily get lost in the game and lose track of time. My advice play small doses or you’ll lose your social life.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a truly great game. I normally think games that are hyped up are normally average at best but this is a true exception. It is very similar to Skyrim but it copies little it is very much its own game. I wouldn’t say it is for a casual gamer as much as Skyrim was but it is still worth a go. You need patience with the game (Doing side quests, collecting ingredients to make potions) so that you prepare for a fight or you will most likely die. The story is brilliant some of the cut scenes can last a long time I like this but I can see it putting people off. It is rare nowadays to see a game with so much care put into it. You can really see the developers put so much time into this, thought of everything then more e.g your beard grows with each passing day and you can have it shaved off. This is one of a rare few games from this generation that truly feels like a full well thought and writen game which the developers are not trying to rip you off with.

    Pros.
    Brilliant Graphics
Rewarding when you spend your time on doing a long side quest
Just brilliant writing by the developers, the side quests are really enjoyable and not a drag you actually want to do them
Difficulty some say it is a hard game but there are 4 difficulty options the easiest or normal been the best to play on in my opinion
Massive game probably 300+ hours with the added on content

    Cons.
The horse riding is not the best everything is a bit close together need a more open area
Confusing to begin with but I guess it is because I have never played a Witcher game before. The game has a good tutorial but still taking it all in is confusing.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersThe sheer scale of this game is breathtaking. The depth of the world and the characters within it trump those of any other RPGs, with perhaps Skyrim as its closest competitor. The dynamic terrain is beautiful to ride/fight/flee through and explore, with the flora undulating and swaying in the wind, and the backdrop of jaw-dropping sunsets and sunrises.

But visuals aside, the storyline and gameplay are equally superb. Every decision you make, or mission you fail/succeed in, has vastly ranging consequences further down the line. You can choose to play the game from a morally high ground, playing the chivalrous white-knight scenario by putting the good of others before yourself, or you can abandon all morals by seeking only fortune and satisfaction of the carnal desires. However, be warned that if you choose to pursue too many love interests you might come to a rather humiliating, yet amusing, ending. And the story itself has the depth and detail of a novel. Which probably shouldn’t be surprising given that the world of the Witchers originates in Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy series.

The fairly simple main quest-line (the search for Ciri) is not amongst the most interesting features of the game, although it is well written and the voice acting is superb. The Witcher 3’s truest strengths lie in its Secondary Missions, Witcher Contracts (monster fights) and Treasure Hunts – only in completing all of these do you get to really appreciate the world in its entirety and the incredible work that CD Projekt RED have put into this game. This world is truly epic.

The gear upgrade system is well thought out, and can be manipulated to your preferred play-style, as can the points-based talent system and character mutations. You can opt for strengths in magic, Machiavellian-style manipulation, stamina, and traditional swordplay. The potions, oils, bombs and runes add further dimensions to customisation and gameplay, as do the vast array of gear designs you can seek out and have crafted for you by armourers and swordsmiths.

If you are looking for a great RPG that will keep you occupied, look no further. By the time I reached 50 hours of gameplay I was only 40% of my way through. I was well in excess of 100 hours upon completion. And of course in the GoTY edition you have the two major DLCs, the gritty Heart of Stone, and the colourful and fun Blood and Wine. The price tag is well worth it, especially considering how much you get. No wonder it has over 800 awards to its name.

Amazing game. Get lost for hours. Well worth the price, and ten times that. Must admit I didn’t like it at first, took me a while as I’d seldom played RPGs. But once I was into it I was hooked.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersEasily one of the best fantasy RPG’s ever made. The game world is immersive and full of life, whether you are strolling through novigrad one summer morning or wading through a bog in a storm looking for a monster you have been hired to kill. The voice acting is superb, the combat is not as hack and slash as games like skyrim but instead its more based on blocking and dodging at the right times aswell, the world is absolutely massive and there is no shortage of monsters and bandits to eradicate in between you and the next step in your ‘witcher business’. This game is a must play. To my knowledge there is no platform exclusive content so every player gets the full experience
