I presumed it was dead. I tried turning it on, nothing, took out the battery, dried off the connector and lo behold, it came on. The screen was fogged up, but still usable. This morning, I checked it, the screen fogginess had gone and it worked perfectly, you’d have never have known I idiotically dropped it in very hot water. However, I am using it daily to check the temperature of the water to steep my green and white teas and it has worked perfectly so far. I also controlled the reliability of the instruments by comparing its measurement with another thermometer and this was consistent. I chose this ThermoPro TP02S thermometer as it had the best reviews for this price range (10ish) as I thought 30/40 was far to steep for the best reviewed ones and I couldn’t see how they could be that different. I’m glad I didn’t spend more, I cooked the turkey as per instructions and the temperature was spot on. Normally I would have cooked it further as it didn’t look that browned but I stopped as the temp was correct. The turkey was delicious and moist, can’t believe I’ve not used one before! I’ve also used it on pork and beef joints since then and again, avoided over cooking as I would normally leave them in a bit longer if they didn’t look visually done. I also bought one for my auntie, who’s also never used a meat thermometer before.
