I got the Thrustmaster ESWAP X Pro Controller for use with my Xbox Series X and have been extremely impressed with its performance.
This controller is designed for competitive gaming, with a range of features that help to improve accuracy and responsiveness.
One of the standout features of the ESWAP X Pro is its modular design, which allows you to customize the controller to suit your specific gaming needs. The controller has four swappable modules (two thumbsticks, a directional pad, and a pair of triggers) that can be easily swapped out and replaced with different variations. This allows you to fine-tune the controller to your personal preference and find the optimal setup for your gameplay style.
The ESWAP X Pro also has a number of other features that make it well-suited for competitive gaming. The controller has a high-precision joystick with a “progressive curve” that provides a smooth, precise movement. The triggers are also adjustable, allowing you to adjust the level of resistance to suit your preference.
In terms of build quality, the ESWAP X Pro is rock solid. It has a sturdy, ergonomic design that feels comfortable in the hand and is able to withstand the rigors of competitive gaming. The controller also has a number of programmable buttons, allowing you to assign specific functions to them and customize the controller to your liking.
Overall, the Thrustmaster ESWAP X Pro is an excellent controller that is perfect for competitive gaming. Its modular design and range of customizable features make it a top choice for anyone looking to improve their gameplay.
Had been looking for something to replace my series 2 elite controller and came across the ESWAP X. Figured if it was half as good as its own description, it might be not half bad. To my surprise, this is hands down the best controller I’ve ever used. Comfortable to hold, responsive buttons/paddles, thorough customisation; both cosmetically and schematically. To anyone, from gaming new-start to longtime gamers, looking for that right controller: look no further.
I bought the controller knowing very little about it and the company but after having this controller for a while, I have had no issues at all, the analog sticks and d pad are hotswappable so you can play with a PlayStation layout and if you get stick drift then no need to buy a whole new controller. Just replacement sticks! Wonderful controller and extremely trustworthy company.
GG
Perfect pad apart from a single issue. When you flick a stick in any direction it flicks back and registers a movement the other way. So if you flick left and let go, it returns to just past Center and slightly right. So if flicking to select something to the left it will move cursor left then flick back right. This is because of the standard size of the sticks being higher than your average pad for accuracy which results in more momentum when returning to a center position . So if playing a game where flicking the Sticks to aim is your bag you’re gunna have a bad time with this. Can’t fault it in any other way.
Review based mainly on Rocket League play.
tl;dr at the bottom
I took the dive into pro controllers last year with the brilliant Wolverine Ultimate Edition. The only issue really was stick drift. I sent it back and they replaced it with the Wolverine V2 Chroma as the UE was out of production (despite it still being sold in stores?).
My word I hated the V2. The ABXY buttons were a mix between membrane and mechanical, the sticks were too soft in tension and were only held in place by magnets resulting in very subtle, but noticeable stick movement gliding across the magnets, which ruined the experience coming from the UE.
So I gave them away and bought the Thrustmaster hoping for something similar to the UE, and found it.
The ABXY buttons are mechanical and clicky, and are flat instead of domed which I actually prefer. Very reminiscent of the UE.
The thumbsticks are screwed in place, so you have to unscrew them to swap. While some people might find this cumbersome, it holds the sticks in place firmly. The tension isn’t variable, but it’s slightly stiffer than the V2 in my opinion, as I don’t have a V2 next to me to compare directly.
The convex thumbsticks are flatter than the V2, and also have a nice rim (heh) to them so when you’re maxed out in a direction it minimises thumb slip (more on this).
The braided cable is high quality, not much else to say.
I’m neutral on the back buttons. My hands are fairly large, and my ring fingers on both hands can reach the back buttons easily. I’ve seen videos of people complaining that the back buttons are hard to reach, but they’re using their ring AND little fingers to cover all 4 buttons. This isn’t how they’re meant to be used. Much like using your thumb to hit 4 buttons, ABYX, the back buttons are meant to be used by your ring fingers. If you have small hands, you will struggle with this controller and the back buttons.
Lack of RGB is also a neutral point for me, as I’m never looking at my controller when I’m playing, and given the cost, I don’t display my controllers and put them back in their box/case after use.
Now, the cons.
The Wolverine UE/Chroma V2 had 2 extra shoulder buttons/bumpers which is a genius idea, as the index fingers have access to 2 extra buttons (bound to face buttons)) without having to move. Thrustmaster hasn’t implemented this in their design despite having the space for it. During my time of play, I have noticed that these buttons aren’t there, but I haven’t missed it too much. It would be a nice addition, though, if they ever upgrade.
This is a very slight niggle, but it’s because of how I grip the controller. My hands get sweaty, and the plastic sides don’t help, so my hands do slip sometimes. I end up gripping the controller a little tight on the right side, and the panel does move ever so slightly. It doesn’t come off, but I feel a tiny click sometimes, but that just tells me I need to reposition my hand and it stops.
The thumbsticks, while they feel good and perform well, my thumbs do slip off the sticks, albeit rarely. I’ll quickly wipe the thumbsticks with my tshirt and my thumbs on my jeans and I’m good to go.
Also, get the warranty. I did have issues with my first one, and Amazon sent out a replacement straight away. It’s 20, who cares.
tl;dr very, very close to the Wolverine UE in quality, some niggles, but so much better than the V2 Chroma.
Consigliatissimo.
Very accurate sticks which makes the aiming in my FPS games very good. The controller itself is very comfortable to hold, the extra buttons haven’t caused me any problems and are easy to program. You do need a computer to update the controller, once that’s done you can remap it on the Xbox app. Overall I would recommend this controlle
What I like is that you can adjust the sensitivity and I use it for rocket league
Nice Joypad didn’t have a problem with it, it worked great, the detachable modules are nice, but when you see how much a replacement cost, everything for this joypad feels like a cash grab, the buttons underneath are kind of hard to use as they are in a rubbish position, I also think for what it is I think its way too much money for a joypad.
Ottimo controller, preciso e solido come tutti i prodotti thrustmaster.
A voir sur le long terme, mais cette manette me semble des plus robustes. Rien signaler aprs 4 mois d’utilisation.

Very good controller although I have bought many and exchanged to another however this one I found a lot better than the rest of the Xbox one controlle
Beautiful looking piece of kit , Do not try to use the software Eswap-2 installed by default for Windows 10 users,
You need to download the Windows store version so you can bind the buttons and update the firmware etc then you good to go
Per me 5 stelle meritate
It’s a big controller but it is very good and easy to use with the thrustmaster app on xbox, it is well worth the money.
Bon rapport qualit prix !
he different configurations available for this controller will suit any gamer set up, the only bad this is the sticks do not have adjustable tension .
Feels expensive for what it is, you could buy a new controller for the price of this. However, I have the controller so wanted to try the swap system, it works really well and it’s easy and quick to fit. I think the side panels are a little too easy to remove but it still works and feels quality..
Excellent item my husband was absolutely ecstatic with this. Would definitely recommend. A****
The markings on the buttons wear off quickly.
The controller is big. Too big for average sized hands.
The controller is quite heavy. (Even heavier than wireless ones!)
The controller is wired.
The packaging is very beautiful and protective – good for giving as a present.
Included in the box is a braided cable USB-A to micro-USB
Mise jour easy via Xbox, bon point.
First thoughts:
A wired controller would be my first choice for connection type while playing team or tournament games (no risk of the batteries running out mid game) but it would have been nice to have a wireless option so I could still use PlayAnywhere while around the house or to avoid cable snagging while playing on the sofa.
The interchangeable modules are very quick to pop out and change as they are held in place by magnets which seems like a more convenient option than plastic locks that require tools to unlock and lock back in. There seems to be lots of custom control modules to enhance comfort and play style so I’m glad to see they’ve backed up the design with enough accessories to make the eSwap thing make sense.
The controller doesn’t feel as ergonomically contoured as I’d have hoped, it does feel ever so slightly square and clunky but the control input is smooth, lightning quick and responsive with zero detectable lag so far.
No detectable drift during play at ‘zero stick’. This was with default settings and no offset or correction.
I can map some of my most used functions like reload and weapon switching to the buttons on the underside so I can limit thumb reach or moving my hands out of position when every second counts.
Details and things to note (See pictures):
Large sized wired pro controller, I think it’s a near perfect fit for my large hands but could imagine if you have very small hands that it might be a bit on the large size for some.
Approx 9.5 feet of cable which is a pretty good length and allows me to play on the other side of the room with a large 4K screen but needs wrapping up a bit when playing at my desk. The cable is USB to Micro USB at the controller end.
Button presses feel fantastic with an almost haptic mechanical click when depressed and released.
Further customisation via the console app for button mapping, stick control (operating range and dead zones), triggers (operating range and travel distance) and vibration.
The vibration settings for the right wing of the controller seem to be softer than the left on my pad, although this might be a good thing to limit the disturbance to the trigger side of the controller, I’m not sure if this is a fault or intentional. The left wing vibration is insane at 100% but both left and right trigger vibration is equally balanced at 100% across the controller.
Final thoughts:
There were a few annoyances that I had to get used to which included the cable snagging each time I went to put the controller down on a side table. As mentioned above the cable is quite long so it tends to sag and get caught on things. The other was the placement of the Xbox button, my muscle memory reaches for the traditional Xbox home button spot but on this controller they’ve placed a cable eject/share capture button in that location. The Xbox Home button on this pad is further down almost between the D-Pad and right thumbstick.
Apart from getting used to a few differences, the performance of this control pad is awesome. Lightning fast response to input, massive range of customisable elements to enhance my gameplay and save them to profiles for different games so I don’t need to start over each time I play something different.
This is a real contender to stand toe to toe with the Elite so I’d happily recommend this to team, competition or performance gamers. Top class!
This is my first Thrustmaster controller, and I am very happy with it.
The joysticks, buttons, and triggers all feel very premium. It’s comparable to my Elite controller in overall feel and build quality.
I love the fact that the joysticks and d-pad can be moved around, and even replaced if anything starts to fail or wear out.
The usb cable it comes with is excellent quality. I have tried this controller with my XBox One-X as well as my gaming pc, and it has performed flawlessly.
Overall size is slightly larger than an official xbox controller, but the fit and finish are superb. I’ve played a few PC games with it, and it was true plug and play compatibility, zero hiccups whatsoever.
Feels excellent in my hand, and it’s built like a tank. I can definitely see myself getting many years of use out of the controller, and while I will primarily use it for PC gaming, it was the perfect addition to my gaming desk.
Highly recommend!
Es ist alles wie beschrieben. Es passt auch alles. Sehr schnelle und gut verpackte Lieferung.
Immer wieder gern.
I have been looking for a good quality wired controller to use with my Xbox as I like the feeling of having no lag and high response rate. When this came on Vine, I thought I had to try it out.
This controller has many notable features but the most important feature is the swappable and replaceable analogue sticks in d-pad. You can fully customize the layout of the controller depending on your console and the game that you are playing. It can change into an Xbox style controller or a ps4 style controller where the analogue sticks are next to each other. Initially I thought this would be kind of like fluky and annoying but they they lock in there really solidly. You can turn the controller upside down and shake it and they’re not gonna fall out. This really improves the controller’s longevity as well.
You can also take the analogue stick out of the controller and then you can also swap like what’s on top of the analogue stick if you want like a domed or a traditional Xbox version of your thumb stick so there’s a lot of customizability there.
There are four back buttons instead of paddles. This controller has buttons and they are like contoured and cut out to where they like grip your fingers well. They’re not just flat and they do have like a groove to them. I feel like they grip the fingers really well. There’s trigger stops and customizable triggers via the app so you can make use of trigger stops if you choose to. I don’t really like trigger stops but you can make the triggers themselves more sensitive to where like the slightest bit of pressure will fire your weapon or aim down sights or do whatever your left trigger or right trigger do in any game. This is definitely going to improve my reaction time in game
There is an app for this controller similar to the Xbox elite app where you can fully customize things. You can fully customize analogue sticks, the triggers, the buttons.
There’s grip on the side and the back of the controller. It’s not really like textured or like sticky. I don’t really know how to describe it, it’s smooth but it grips you really well and I really like the grip on this controller and then the buttons themselves are really really high quality. They’re really sensitive and the slightest bit of pressure will activate them which some might not like but I personally like it. They’re very clicky, almost like a mechanical keyboard and that’s another thing that’s really nice about this controller. As soon as I picked it up, I could just tell that it’s much higher build quality than a standard Xbox controller or some other third-party controllers.
However there are a couple of issues that I have noticed with this controller but they’re not that extreme. First of all I would like to see them make longer analogue sticks that just go on there because i personally like to use the longer sticks. I don’t like where the back button is on the controller. That might seem like a minor flaw but that’s usually how you activate your map which is pretty important. It would have been great if it was possible to map this button onto one of the buttons on the back.
I had a hard time with the app when it comes to customizing the analogue sticks. I think I ended up messing with the analogue sticks on the app and that just made things really really rough it felt really weird for a while when I was playing with this controller until I eventually reset it to default and then that felt more normal so that’s just a negative experience I had because I messed up so I would recommend to not tinker with the analogue stick settings until you are absolutely sure about it.
The great thing about this controller is that in case the analogue sticks break down due to normal wear and tear, you could just buy a new analogue stick or buy the coloured packs that they make and then completely swap your analogue stick and then make your controller last much longer. I imagine that further down the line they will make more colour packs or maybe even make it to where you can customize the colour packs based on your choice.
Overall I would defiinitely recommend this controller. It is quite expensive at around 160 but is comparable to the price of the Xbox Elite Controller. So if you are looking for a premium controller for your console, you cant go wrong with this one. 5 Stars
Controllers are such an important part of gaming and this TrustMaster Eswap X Pro Controller certainly impresses in terms of responsiveness. The controller is very well made and can stand the test of time. I don’t think the Eswap Xpro offers the same setting customization for gameplay as the Elite V2 offers. But all of the Eswap X Pro’s buttons are fully programmable, including the four rear ones, for fully customized controls. Up to two separate profiles can be saved to the controller’s internal memory. I love how you can position the sticks in the ‘traditional Xbox way’ or use them parallel like Playstation. The braided cable is almost 3 meters long so plenty of length for most scenarios. The cable features a proprietary connector that helps to avoid inadvertent disconnections. The controller also has a 3.5mm aux port so you can simply plug your headset into the controller and control its volume and mic mute using the built-in buttons. Great bit of kit for the serious gamers.
Love the Controller and tge ability to swap out tge thumb stick for higher resistance ones and also the Dpad. Dont use the hair triggers currently but will at some point. Yes its a tad more expensive than a elite but Ive had a Gen 1 & 2 which had stick drift. Buy this and swap one out if you get stick drift. I also bought the blue camo colour pack with higher resistance thumb. Blows elites out of the water. Yes its wired but I was burning through AA’s with the elite so all in all, I’m very pleased.
Complimenti Thrustmaster!
This comes in a beautiful presentation package that will surprise and delight a should you choose to gift this to a lucky gamer. Top quality before the box is even opened! Inside is the pad and cable plus an incredible wealth of accessories which can be swapped onto the pad should you choose, and amazingly it seems there are even more available to tailor this pad to your exact specs.
In use, this leaves nothing to be desired. By far the best buttons and sticks I have ever used. Everything feels precise and tactile, and like it will last forever. This thing makes the XBOX Elite pad feel like a toy, and outperforms it in every possible way. Better quality, better feel, more buttons… this is for the more serious gamer.
If I had one complaint it’s that the Thrustmaster logo, background graphic and to be fair the overall look of the pad all feel a little retro. This has pretty much been the case with every TM product I have ever owned, but as usual the performance speaks for itself.
Veniamo all’esperienza di gioco: fantastica.
Peso Mando XBOX: 234 gr
Peso Mando XBOX Elite: 344 gr
Peso Mando eSwap: 321 gr
PROS:
Sticks, empuadura y gatillos modulares.
Sensibilidad de los botones
Sensacin de construccin muy slida
Botones y perfiles personalizables
Peso ideal para largas sesiones
CONTRAS:
No es inalmbrico
Ubicacin y tamao de los botones traseros
This is an amazing controller.
It is fully customizable with an app, which is really good.
It has 2 modular analog sticks and modular D-pad ,which are replaceable and swappable by just pulling them out with fingers and dropping them down in the desired place.
You can also order different colored modules and customize the controller in any way that you want.
You can put even 3 analog sticks or 3 D-pads on the same controller.
The controller itself is a bit bulky, compared to the stock controller and it is more comfortable for bigger hands.
The controller has many extra buttons on the back and on the bottom of it.
On the back there are 4 buttons which are customizable with the app and can be set to be used as any other button on the controller.
You can adjust the dead zone of both triggers separately.
You can set them from just a little touch of the trigger to a full press down of the trigger.
You can also shorter the trigger distance by locking the 2 switches on the back.
You can also adjust the vibration of the the controller for both sides separately from 100% down to 0%.
This is really useful if you like to play without the vibration feedback.
If you use headphones connected to the controller, there are volume up and volume down buttons on the bottom of the controller.
There are also a button to switch the MIC on/off , 3.5mm headphones jack ,MAP button and 2 profile buttons.
These 2 profile buttons are for profiles that you have set from the app.
This is really useful if 2 people are using the same controller with different settings and different play styles.
The only downside is the cable connection, which is a limitation of the distance between the controller and the Xbox/PC.
In the meantime the cable gives quicker response, which is important when you are a Pro Gamer.
There is also a screwdriver in the pack that helps when you need want replace other parts of the controller with different colored ones and also the back of the screwdriver can be used to pull the modular D-pad out and replace it different colored one.
The price of this controller is a bit higher than most controllers on the market ,but well worth the price.
Hopefully my review was Helpful for you.
You know that feeling when you handle something which has been engineered properly, a piece of quality kit? This controller has that feeling. There’s a certain weight to it. There’s the satisfying clunk when the modular pieces fit into place on their magnets. There’s the balanced feel in the hand. Yes, this isn’t cheap. And, yes, the modular additions are even less cheap! But you can tell that thing is going to last and that each piece is going to work as well as it can for as long as it can. I’m probably not a serious enough gamer to properly appreciate the potential here, and indeed there’s some work to be done on how exactly you can customise this for yourself, but as the range expands I can see how serious gamers who prefer controllers will get so much from this. I’m still playing with the possibilities, but so far, it has been fun in the most serious way possible.

As an avid console and PC gamer, this is an absolute must have controller.
Not only is it fully modular, it is incredibly comfortable and easy to use
Here’s my breakdown:
Premium parts
Fully modular
Works on PC and Xbox
Customisable
Good size (I like big controllers!)
PUNTOS NEGATIVOS
Premium packaging, a premium price, this is a well thought out controller though, easily customisable with quality parts and design, comes with a material drawstring bag too.
Not wireless, however the USB cable has a good, secure connector which is designed to relieve stress on the micro USB connector port on the controller, it’s length is approx. 2.8 metres.
The components parts are of a good quality, using the ABXY buttons is satisfying – they have a subtle click, these can be mirrored with the four buttons on the back of the controller. The trigger buttons have a similar click, have grip surfaces at the tips, the spring/feedback feels good, the travel distance of these can be reduced using two buttons on the reverse, this enables a quicker response. The R1 & R2 buttons are quite loud in comparison to the rest, a bit disproportional in quality I feel.
The analogue sticks offer a good feeling of resistance, the grip is nice, a spare set of concave grips are included in the pack if you prefer to use them. The D pad feels OK, it’s clicky too, I am trying to get used to it.
The two analogue sticks and the D pad are are swappable, the magnet system holds them very securely whilst also making it very easy to swap them (use the end of the screwdriver included for extracting the D pad).
This swap feature is really useful if you are used to a different layout, it makes is easy to purchase replacement parts rather than the whole unit, this adds to make customisation very simple too, have a look at the different colours of the additional parts.
Mine worked straight away on my PC (W10) but you can download additional software which helps to customise the sensitivity of the analog sticks etc.
It’s surprisingly quite weighty for a controller without a battery, although not much bigger than a traditional Xbox controller people with smalls hands may struggle to use this.
The volume controls, mute, headset jack etc are on the front of the controller, there’s been a lot of though put into this design, quality, I just have a small qualm in regard to the D pad and the fact that it is not wireless, you would have thought for the price it would be, nether less a really nice controller.

This is our second controller of this kind, albeit this one is for XBox and the first one was for PS. We kinda knew what to expect and how to cope with it. It is comfortable to hold, it is uber responsive, the interchangeable two units – the D-pad and the joystick is a great touch, as it allows you to adapt the device to your own unique style of gaming. The lead is long enough, be it at a desk that you game or in a comfy chair in front of a TV…making your wife or mom increasingly unhappy as you occupy the living room LOL!
The only thing that we find a bit annoying and it was theh same thing with the PS controller is that the magnets that hold the sides are not particularly strong and do come off if you grip too strong, while if you take them off completely there is a gap at the bottom and unless you are used to it, it is a bit uncomfortable! So… can miss you those crucial button presses and joystick moves and it CAN BE ANNOYING!LOL Hence, although may seem minor, it actually is not.

Only been using for 1 week or so but honeslty the best controler I have used and I have had many pro controllers of different brands.
I especialy love the customisation you truly cant get that with any other controler on this level
All I can say is top build quality top customisation top comfort 10/10
My partner was super happy with this and has had a lot of fun (or at least certainly spent a lot of time with it) playing with it and customizing his gaming with it so it’s kept him very busy and out of my way so happy all round. I’m not a huge gamer, or not as much as him at least, and it seems a bit chunky to me but he’s 100% happy with it and finds it very comfortable with decent grip and good placing of the buttons and triggers etc and found the software very easy to use and program without much fuss so is really pleased with it and would recommend.
Being a professional grade controller the Thrustmaster is definitely a step up from standard Xbox controllers including first party ones. How it compares to an Elite controller I’m not sure as I don’t own an Elite but I do think this is a quality pad. It feels very weighty in the hand with exceptional build quality. The analogue sticks are a bit longer than on standard Xbox controllers and the increased height feels natural and help to improve response times. The sticks are very responsive indeed and provide an extra level of control and accuracy over standard controllers. Face buttons have a clicky mouse type feel which I think greatly improves response times as well. The shoulder triggers have good range of motion and provide accurate feedback particularly noticeable on driving games. The pad is also highly customisable which can help provide an edge in a competitive multiplayer, although I’m more than happy with the defaults for responsiveness and comfort. Being wired there is no latency as well. It is expensive but definitely an excellent controller.
This controller, even though expensive, is worth it. If you are a gamer then this controller is definitely for you.
It’s super sturdy and very well made.l, it’s heavy but not too heavy it hurts your hands.
I am not an avid gamer but do enjoy a game of call of duty and it does feel better than a normal controller.
On the back are trigger stoppers that makes the in game firing motion a lot smoother and quicker as you don’t have to push it down as much as a regular controller. On the back you have four mappable binds which can be customised to your personal preference.
You also have magnet changeable joy sticks and d-pad to give your controller a PS4/5 vibe.
Lastly you have a software purely made for this controller which you can customise anything from stiffness on the joysticks to how hard you have to push them to make the in game experience feel a lot smoother or harder, whatever your preference. Works on pc and Xbox.
Great wired Xbox controller. I know the brand before as I also own a ThrustMaster Gaming headphone and I’m very pleased with that too. The controller itself feels very robust, the agronomy is great I feel much comfortable to hold this one then the actual Xbox controlled. What makes this controller unique and attractive is the ability to customise it. The T-MOD feature lets you to swap D-pad, the ministicks or two-buttons combat modules. The variations are endless not just in the modules but also in colours as each module bought separately available in several other cool colours such like silver, orange, blue and many more. The controller can be connected to the Xbox via its included 2-metre braided cable with USB. The buttons give a good click when pressed, are extremely precise and sensitive, I have not experienced any major while I was playing. It has is a fair weight which I personally really like it. To maximise the personalisation of this controller I would suggest to download the dedicated PC software from the thrustmaster website for making adjustments or remapping the buttons, adjust the sensitivity, dead-zones and vibration levels according to your preferences. Unfortunately, this software is only available for windows. It also meant to be compatible with PC games but I have not tested this feature.
All in all, I’m really happy with the design, it’s very unique with the changeable modules, I really enjoying to play with. Is a serious gaming controller for hardcore gamers and enthusiasts
I have mainly used this on my gaming PC as this is a wired only controller and it isn’t convenient to use it wired as my xbox is on the downstairs cinema projector and I sit way back. That aside I gave it a good go on my gaming pc. After downloading the config app there was a wide variety of control settings and calibrations that could ensure button, trigger and joystick mapping was perfectly to my taste and also save able as different profiles for different games, I was away. I tried it out on multiplayer GTA as I thought that was good to try all the capability of pad. Its was very comfortable and for me, the right weight. At over 300g, its not light, but for me, I like to feel some weight in a pad as it is easier to control the directional sticks more accurately. I think the modular element is possibly a but of a gimmick (at least it is for me), but you cant tell as it all feels incredibly solid and positive feedback is forthcoming from the pad unit itself. Definetly at the pro end of the controller market, no question, but I think it represents itself well. I just think its a shame there isn’t a wireless function, or at least an add on to make it wireless as I don’t think the lag explanation is that relevant, I’m sure it is faster, but not that a normal human player would notice…
I’ll admit, I’m not the biggest gamer out there, but I do love a cheeky game of COD here and there. I found that in comparison to the original Xbox one controller, this one is far more comfortable to hold thanks to both the weight of the controller and it’s grippy smooth surface material used. I found that this controller is far more ergonomic to hold too, and provides a much more natural grip.
What I do love about this controller is it’s versatility and adjustability. Firstly, you are able to interchange the position of the joysticks as well as the direction pad. As such, you are able to adjust the controller to your needs and wants. You are also able to purchase custom ‘skins’ for this controller here on amazon, which includes LED options to bring your controller to life in selected colours (including orange or blue). You are also able to interchange the joystick shape from inverted to curved depending on your preferences.
Customisation is all taken a step further via the Thrustmaster free download software where you are able to customise profiles and settings dependent on what game you are playing. These settings can include basic things like joystick precision and sensitivity to more advanced settings like dead zone options. Though I’m unsure why the controller cannot be used wirelessly, for those less hardcore (anti-lag) gamers like myself for convenience.
Thus to conclude, yes it is a premium high end controller with maximum capacity and customisation, though if you want to make the most out of it, accessories will cost you a fortune, as will the controller itself. 4 stars.
Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you found it helpful! 🙂

This ThrustMaster controller has some amazing features and the quality is without question,
The ability to swap the position of the joysticks and direction pads is novel, as is the ability to replace and change the joystick caps. Apparently there is or will be a store where you will be able to buy extras to replace most parts of the controller. Given the starting price of this controller, I’d have to be a serious gamer to want to replace the supplied components which make up the controller out of the box.
Gaming wise it responds very well and the triggers have a lovely analogue feel when squeezed. It is a joy to use for about 45 minutes and then you start to notice the weight and mass of the controller, which is considerably larger than the standard Xbox wireless controller. After that time I find my hand start to ache as it feels like you have stop controller tilting forward. It just doesn’t feel balanced in the hand.
Obviously everyone is different but given the price, I’m slightly disappointed from a comfort perspective when enjoying long gaming sessions.
Maybe over time I will get used to it.
Overall a serious controller for serious gaming at a premium price.

If you are into daily gaming, custom PC building, and experimenting with DIY gear and customizable devices then this ThrustMaster Eswap X Pro fully modular controller is definitely for you.
To start with, I use this mainly for gaming on my PC. It is a wired controller and doesn’t provide as much comfort when used with an Xbox. I see Xbox as ‘comfort gaming’ and one of its main major characteristics is using wireless controllers when chilling on the sofa so as to move it however you want. This controller is still usable with Xbox or pc alike but it is just my personal view that I would consider it to be my PC gaming companion.
In terms of build and design you get a fully modular and fully-customizable controller. I would suggest visiting the ThrustMaster website to see the skins and alternative customization buttons they have. I have seen some very cool skins there but the range is quite limited and I hope to see more in the future. The skins and buttons prices is also pricey (44.99 for the ESWAP X GREEN COLOR PACK) so you should consider these factors as well.
Although fully modular, holding this controller feels like holding a single piece that is fully intact with no interchangeable parts. It is indeed sturdy and solid. The build quality is impressive and the design itself is very feature-rich and feature-conscious. First it deliver a plethora of buttons that contribute to better customization and would appeal to different gaming profiles. Second, the distribution of most buttons is quite familiar and very easy to get used to.
The controller itself, as expected, is stunningly responsive and holds to the norms of heavy gaming. Thanks to the extra buttons compared to a conventional controller, this one would be more suitable for SIMs like F12020 or MFS.
Of course with any great controller a software is a must. ThrustMaster software is available for all the needed tweaks and custom profiles you want to create and switch between. This software allows you to literally control the device the way you want and make it tailor-made to meet your gaming needs and configurations in different games. It takes some getting used to to master the most suitable settings.
All in all, for PC this controller is a heavy duty masterpiece and a must for every serious gamer. It is equally perfect for console users with the slight inconvenience of wired connection.
The gamers in the house are delighted with this. Apparently they didn’t know what they’d been missing out on till now! You can literally get it out of the box (very nice packaging by the way), and plug and play. Connectivity is great because it’s wired. Ok, so wireless is the thing of today, but sometimes you just can’t beat a little bit of ‘old fashioned’ and sometimes being wired is just so much more reliable. Good cable length, unless you sit far from your screen! Good grip on this and the buttons are all in good positions. You can customise as you wish (not cheap though), and the buttons are nice and easy to remove and move around. Find what feels good for you. You can plug your headset/headphones in to the audio port on the controller no worries. Good responsive controls with a range of sounds from fairly quiet to clickety click. But, oh, it’s so expensive! However, I guess if you’re serious about your gaming it’s possibly a good investment.

This is a customisable controller with a good quality feel to it. Everything is smooth and precise and there is no detectable lag in play. I like the fact things can be moved, albeit I am a creature of habit and have gotten used to the layout of my old controller. I do like the buttons that are underneath, although I am not one of those frenetic gamers that is clicking buttons manically, I do get immersed and have found them useful. The one drawback of this unit is the wired connection; I understand it is to reduce lag and for some that may be really important, but I would quite like a wireless version even if it does introduce some lag, as that would free me up to play as I normally do – at a distance from the console and not tied in place.
For the professional gamer or even just a regular player like me that enjoys a game every day, this is a great option that enhances play. It would be even better with the option of going wireless, but I can live with the limitations this gives to me for the overall benefits it brings. It is a good controller and adaptable by the user, which ticks most of the boxes.
Firstly, let’s face the main issue that many will have with this controller; it is a wired controller. The cable is a decent length at around 3 meters, but plainly it wont work for those who sit further away from the screen. It is unusual not to have a wireless offering, it is perhaps the case that this functionality has been sacrificed for all of the other customisations that you have with the controller.
On the positive side, this is a very well designed controller that allows a huge amount of customisation. You can easily swap out, or indeed around, the DPad and the thumb sticks, you could even change the ratio if you wanted to. The sides are on magnets and can be swapped, and the triggers can be unscrewed and replaced – to any colour of your choosing, if you are happy to pay the extra for the different colour packs (around 27-45 per pack at the time of writing this review). For the person who likes to customise, or takes pride in their game area, then this will be a price that is worth paying. For the more casual gamer, it is perhaps not an option that you are likely to use.
The controller also comes with additional addressable buttons underneath – perhaps more for those who PC game and like additional control over their game. The buttons work just as well on the xbox if that is your preferred method of gaming. The sharing button also worked out of the box for me and was set initially to take a screenshot for sharing later.
It only loses the star for the wired nature and the wide pricing of the replacement options. None of these will be an issue for some, but in an era of wireless controllers, a wired one may be a little too much for some; no matter how well it works and how customisable you can make it.
It’s wired but do not let you put you off, this is because a true gamer knows wireless technology suffers from latency issues so having a wire get’s round this. You hardly notice it is wired and once you have played using this pad you realise just how inferior the generic controllers are. It feels robust a premium and it allows you to customise your playing experience.
Opening the box there are some instructions on how to take the controller apart, what the buttons do, and how to run the software called ThrustmapperX. With the controller you get inside the box a removable d-pad, 2 removable thumbsticks, an additional set of swappable concave thumbsticks and then some useful items like a mini screwdriver, removable braided micro-USB cable, and a travel bag to store it in.
The controller is heavier and larger than a standard xbox controller, I noticed the difference straight away but it was not uncomfortable and I got used to it quickly. You will quickly feel at home with the new layout as well as the extra buttons like volume up, volume down, mute, profile 1, map, and profile 2. It is super easy to swap out the thumbsticks and keypads. They all connect through magnets. The buttons are clicky and very responsive and durable. The thumbsticks are also smooth and fine tuned. Triggers are amazing and responsive and you can map all the buttons on the fly.
The only issue is that it uses micro usb and I would have wanted usb-c now as it easier to connect. Not tried it with windows but great that you can use it for the PC as well.

This is heavy-duty gameware, and a serious bit of play kit.
It’s literally heavy as well (over 325g not including the cable), and although I initially found it a little bit front-weighted for my tastes, it’s a weighting that you can adapt to comfortably. The grip is very comfortable- there’s nothing smart about the materials used, but the grip is nicely refined and it feels comfortable in the hands. The buttons are all in natural and intuitive- apart from some of the smaller lesser-used ones you won’t need to press often- and it’s a controller you can pick up, plug in and get going with, without needing to give it any immediate thought.
In play, it’s responsive and accurate. The sticks glide you to a position nicely and smoothly. The buttons are going to take a lot of hammering and the whole device feels very well made, not just from the weight but the whole feel.
The noise levels are a mix- the sticks are practically silent, no impact sound as you push them to the edges. The ABXY keys are gently clicky, and the LB and RB keys are much noisier, with a proper clackety sound to them that’s weirdly almost wooden. The LT RT triggers are much more sedate by comparison.
For Windows you can download the accompanying app from the Microsoft Store, where it’s called ThrustmapperX (not just Thrustmapper as the instruction sheet says). The level of control it offers reminds me of some gaming mice, or maybe a step more advanced. Key mapping is a doddle and you can also do basics like swapping keys over for your own preferences. The whizziest most sci-fi bits are the sensitivity curves for the sticks and the triggers, which really show off how accurate and attuned to subtle movement details those hardware controls are. You can even set different levels for the left and right vibration controls if you want to, if for example you have a sore hand and might want to disable vibration on that side of the controller, you can. For a device with relatively few actual controls, in the grand scheme of things, there’s a lot of control offered up. Settings can also be stored as different profiles, both within the device (with two profile switch buttons on the underside) and as saved files.
The modular approach is, in my opinion, a bit of a novelty and swapping them about didn’t do anything except confuse my muscle memory. The sticks are very easy to pry out, which is fine, though the direction keys are quite difficult to extract. Since the box doesn’t come with any spare modules, if you buy this device alone without any of the extra modules, it is a little bit redundant. At time of writing the only Eswap modules that seem to be for sale on this site are direct replacements of the ones already provided, making them spares rather than functionally different- and considering the high build quality and apparent durability of the box, it doesn’t feel like a device that will need spares too quickly, though of course it’s a handy option to have if the alternative is to buy a whole new controller instead.
The packaging is pretty plush- a smart hardback-book-style box with lining, and specially shaped areas. If I’m being really fussy I’d say that the accompanying drawstring bag is just a little bit too small- it holds the device itself quite flush, but once you start packing in the quite long and thick cable, and any accessories, it’s just a little on the tight side. It’s a smartly presented item that has a very satisfying unboxing experience though.
This is a high-grade bit of gaming kit and if you want to take your Xboxing seriously, it’s hard to think of a more professional way to do it.
This is certainly a good quality controller, it feels great out of the box, the buttons have a good click to them and has great customisable buttons, more than I could possibly need, all in reasonable locations. I have quite large hands so it may be different if you normally have to reach for buttons on a controller.
The first focus of this controller is is customisation so:
– The only included customisation is the joysticks which can be changed from a convex to a concave style by twisting them off.
-I can buy colour packs to replace the joysticks, arrow pad and triggers for about 25
-I can swap the arrow pad and left joystick if I want a different style
-Hopefully in the future they will have different types of drop in controllers (like the PS4 version)
-the joysticks and side panels use magnets, to swap parts out just pull on each part with enough force and it takes seconds to change, I like that the parts don’t wobble or come lose while I’m gaming. The triggers need a screw driver and the arrow pad needs a small hook (included)
The app:
– On the PC I can download the customisation app from the Microsoft store, just make sure to get the ThrustMapperX, the one without an X is for the PS4 version and doesn’t work! I’m not sure why they need 2 different apps!
– The app works really well, I have full control over everything and can remap virtually everything. Plus I can save 2 different profiles if I share the controller.
The quality:
– The pad feels solid, despite being held together with magnets!
– the weight is ideal in my opinion, not too heavy but not light that it will fall apart.
– Great ergonomics and the buttons have a clear mechanical click
-The arrow pad does have a bit of movement before it clicks which could be better, hopefully they will release a different one that I can drop in.
– Vibration is solid and fully adjustable
Overall I don’t think this will be for everyone because of the price for this plus any customised parts. However as a controller it’s fantastic, easy to use and there is more customisation than any other on the market! It’s not a great value for money and is aimed at Pro’s for long term use. I look forward to more add ons being added…
Hopefully my review has been helpful
Functionally this controller is very similar to the Xbox Elite Series 2 that I also own (so I’ll be making comparisons throughout) — and comes in at around the same price; though it does not feel quite as premium as the Xbox Elite. This is mainly down to the finish; it doesn’t have the rubbery textured grip of the Xbox Elite (as supplied); it’s possible that similar grips might be available to purchase separately — the modularity of this controller being its main selling point over the Elite. The wing grips, thumb-sticks, d-pad and triggers are all modules that can be purchased separately or in kits so you can customise it to your preference. The sticks and d-pad can occupy any position — so you can configure it to mimic the layout of a PlayStation Dual Shock controller if that’s your thing. Everything is held very solidly in place by strong magnets.
The thumb-sticks themselves have an extra layer of modularity — the sticks unscrew and can be replaced with the provided domed sticks (the ones fitted to my sample are concave). The supplied sticks are slightly taller than the medium sticks that came with my Xbox Elite. For me these are perfect. What’s great about these sticks being modular is that if you end up with stick-drift, you can simply replace the stick modules rather than replacing the whole controller.
In use all of the buttons feel great; the AB/XY feel nice and solid — with no wobble and no miss-clicks I quite often get missed input on the A button on my Xbox Elite controller. The trigger travel is adjustable in two stages — long and short. The long travel distance is not as long as the travel on my Xbox controllers — so it’s possible some control such as accelerating a vehicle or whatever is not quite as granular but in practice I can’t say I notice anything different.
Where the Xbox Elite Controller has four paddles on the underside; the eSwap X Pro has four buttons. These are positioned a bit more toward the centre, and if you have smaller hands, you may struggle to reach them. Personally I find them to be just right.
Additionally there are buttons either side of the headset socket: on the left are Volume Up/Down and Mic and on the right are two profile selectors and button mapping. It’s very convenient to be able to map buttons on the fly without needing to open up the ThrustmapperX software (more on mapping below). Sadly, the Volume Buttons only work when a headset it connected — and they don’t change the system volume setting, only what comes out of the controller. Perhaps a future firmware could enable it to adjust the system volume (please!).
There are, as expected the standard view/menu/guide buttons on the face of the controller — additionally there is also the ‘Share’ button which is included on the Xbox Series S/X controllers.
This brings me to what is perhaps the only thing I don’t really like. The view/menu buttons are not in good positions. They are too far forward and difficult to reach without stretching. They should be aligned to the X B buttons. You have to reach over or push the left thumb-stick out of the way to press the View Button. Not ideal. It’s also a bit of a stretch from the right side to get to the Menu Button, but after about 40 hours of use I found that I have subconsciously started to tilt the controller backwards — which brings the Menu Button toward my thumb so I don’t actually reach for it any more. I can live with that. Perhaps the design team don’t play The Witcher 3 very much, a game where these buttons are in constant use. If they did, they would realise their error :]
Just like the Xbox Elite controllers, the Stick-clicks, d-pad, ABXY and underside buttons are all able to be remapped. (the view/menu/share/volume buttons cannot be remapped).
Somewhat disappointingly (just like the Elite controller), the four underside buttons cannot act as unique buttons; but can only be mapped to the standard controller face buttons, bumpers and triggers. This is still quite useful, especially for a game such as Elite Dangerous which allows for some either tricky or otherwise impossible button combos. Eg. Map Right-Stick-Click to Underside Button 4 so you can do Right-Stick + A/B/X/Y etc.
The ThrustmapperX software is not as nice as the Xbox Elite Controller app, and it has for some reason reverted my profiles to defaults on occasion. Software issue can be rectified.
The eSwap X Pro has a nice weight to it; I’d say its somewhere between the stock Xbox One controller and the Xbox Elite. And It’s not wireless; though I am using it on my PC where I prefer a wired controller so that is not an issue for me. It connects via a micro USB cable (surprised its not USB Type C) and the supplied cable is good quality. It has a large moulding at the controller end which locks into a recess so the cable cannot be easily yanked out. Good thinking, Thrustmaster!
Overall I really like it and I have installed it for permanent use on my PC with my Elite controller staying on the Xbox One. However, I do think it’s slightly over-priced for what comes in the box as standard. Some different height sticks and maybe an extra (rubbery textured!) grip set in the box would add value and make choosing this over the Elite Series 2 a bit easier.
