I’ve got 2. (see photo)
Will be getting a third when we can afford, if you had told me in my 20s I’d be spending this much on bins I’d have laughed, but here I am.
Anyway see video for lid demo
I have no idea how long the batteries will last but I will make a note of when they need changing and if it is less than 3 months I’ll update this review to let yuy know.
The fact that the lid does not need touching to open is a big plus foe me, also that it closes itself in 5 seconds.
The 5 year guarantee is reassuring.
We had a number of bins and crates indoors for our waste and recycling and this system has replaced the lot, making our house neater and still doing our bit!
I think the sensor lids are a bit gimmicky but they work fine – as long as the unit isn’t pushed too far back under the counter top.
The system for keeping bin bags in place is nifty and effective and so much easier than previous bins.
The system is on the expensive side but I’m hoping it will prove durable.

Like these bins for the fact they can be stacked in different combinations. Nice size too snd make the job of recycling much easier! Not too bulky so can fit neatly in my kitchen layout . Yes a good set of bins all in all .
The fact you don’t have to have these all grouped together is great, I have a really small galley style Kitchen and I have the tall bit in one place and the other double unit near my back door. Will hopefully see the mechanisms last longer than a year of a similar bin I had that gave up the ghost once warranty ran out! Smaller lids on these so should be good. Bin sizes are good and looks stylish too. Overall as far as bins go it comes highly recommended.

I was so skeptical about these automatic bins until I got this. So happy with it and love how I don’t have to touch the bin every time I put something in. Easy to just wave your hand over it, it opens up, you drop in your rubbish then it automatically closes 5 seconds later. Good quality would definitely recommend
I saw the reviews of this and it got some real stinkers but in the interest of fairness I had to try because it’s an automatic sensor bin and who doesn’t want hand waving technology in the kitchen haha.
It arrived with enough cardboard to build a shed which was a bit naff but it arrived damage free.
First thing I noticed was that there was no battery compartment cover…..to be honest the amount of packaging and card means it may have been somewhere in the mountain of cardboard but I couldn’t find it so I had to get out a roll of tape to keep the 3 batteries in place required for opening this.
Stuck in a huge 80l bin bag and waited till it wasfull.
The sensor works very well, well enough that my greyhound noticed that if she swipes with her nose she has access to the goodies within…….and the sensor keeps the bin open if it it remains covered so we had no accidents of her getting her head trapped….nice ‘safety’ feature but a missed opportunity for funny videos for social media was my initial thought.
The battery life isn’t as bad as I read in other reviews. They lasted about 4 weeks first time and if that’s average then I’m ok with that although purchasing batteries for a bin seems a bit strange to me still.
My biggest issue was emptying it. It’s tall and narrow and with a big bin bag in it, the rolled lip around the top edge causes the bag to rip if you don’t wiggle and carefully remove it making emptying the thing more of a chore than is really necessary.
Looks good but I’m kind of sure the gimmick will wear off soon eneough to be honest.
I’ve been using this for about a month now, and overall I’m happy with it. My old bin needed replacing anyway, and although this probably wouldn’t have been my first choice it’s not bad and might suit other families better than it suits me.
First of all, dear god, the size of the box and packaging was enormous. I understand though that with less packaging, it could have got dented in transit so it’s a necessary evil.
You have essentially a frame that three separate bins fit into. At the bottom is a large pull-out drawer, and then above that sits two completely independent smaller bins and these two have the motion-sensor opening mechanism.
I like the overall shape, it’s neat and fits against the wall. It’s easy to wipe clean. The capacity of all 3 bins is more than adequate for a family of four, and the motio-sensor opening is initially lots of fun. BUT you need batteries in both bin lids to make this work and my immediate reaction was that that was a hefty initial outlay of batteries and wondering how long they’ll last. I was very conscious initially of how often I was opening it in terms of battery life and the thing is I use it most when I’m actually cooking dinner and I could potentially be opening it 20-30 times to chuck peelings, and wrappings and packaging etc away and if you’ve just opened it to chuck half your trimmings away and then turn back two seconds later to throw away the rest, and again 5 seconds later with an empty packet etc, you feel conscious you’re really wasting the batteries. ….. so I tend to just lift the lid off completely while I’m cooking and rest it on top of the other bin so it’s permanently open while I’m cooking. That leads me to the question of the ‘other’ bin.
You essentially have 3 bins and it’s a question of if you need 3 bins in your kitchen?
A lot of us have got used to having a food waste caddy as part of our local council recycling schemes. These are usually quite small and you empty them into a larger caddy which is then emptied by the bin-men.
When I used one of these before, the smaller one in the kitchen would need emptying about twice a week, and that was fine, but the capacity of these two upper bins are about four times as much and so I found that you’re either emptying the bin when it’s barely a quarter full, or the food waste in there, in the space of just a week, was actually starting to get mouldy and self-composting! The humidity really builds up in there and it’s almost air-tight and the inside of the lid was covered in condensation and the stuff inside becoming smelly and sludgy.
So now I use my separate smaller food waste caddy for food waste, it’s much more airy and being smaller, gets emptied out 2-3 times a week. I now use one of the Tower top bins for non-recyclable kitchen rubbish and I put cans and glass in the bottom drawer.
The bottom drawer is more flimsy than I was expecting and although that makes it more lightweight than it would otherwise be, I don’t like the way it doesn’t always push back in neatly and you have to jig it about a bit to make it sit properly in place. I wouldn’t use any part of this bin for cardboard because i already have a big recycling bag for cardboard – (the boxes I regularly get from Amazon would never fit into a bin like this), and so I’ll automatically put cardboard boxes from kitchen use into that same bag – no point keeping cardboard waste in two separate places.
You wouldn’t necessarily get a bin liner to fit that bottom drawer either by the way, so I have two sturdy large paper bags in it, one for my empty cans, and the other for glass and plastic, and it’s a bit messy to be honest. At the moment the second of the upper bins isn’t being used at all because I haven’t yet found an ideal use for it, so it’s sitting in place with a liner in it but not actually being used. I’m thinking of using it for the recyclable cans and then leave the bottom drawer for glass and plastic, but it feels like I’m trying to find a use for it rather than it fulfilling a need I already had.
As I say, in another household with different needs, this bin could be much more useful.
Just love it best purchase this year !! Easy to use and keeps all the mess away from sigh
I am a huge fan of storage solutions and we constantly battle with recycling on a weekly basis with unstable piles of cardboard and cans taking up our utility room sides. I’m a huge fan of Tower and love their quality products, and the sensors on this recycling centre are amazing and the design generally really useful and space-saving.
Pros:
* Robust metal – I was initially worried about the thin sides but so far when being knocked it hasn’t marked or dented at all
* Larger bottom container is on wheels and easily slides in and out
* Automatic opening sensors are genius – hands free is a great and hygienic feature
* Plastic rims at the top keep bin liners in place securely, and they still stay put when emptying the bins so you can reuse the liners
* All containers are easily removable and fairly lightweight for easy emptying
* Great for organisation: I’m using the bottom container for paper/card, one upper bin for general waste and the other for tins/plastic
* Stackable so doesn’t take up much room and looks fancy with the shiny metal design
* Airtight and keeps smells sealed
* Great size: holds plenty of recycling/waste
Cons:
* Doesn’t work well with rechargeable batteries – it has little power with them, only performs with normal batteries
* Sensors flash every 10 seconds or so
* Would be good if it was mains powered to save batteries (and be more eco-friendly… The whole point of recycling is to reduce waste!)
* The sensors are very sensitive; our dogs set them off when walking passed so it might be better in a low-traffic area
On the whole I think it is a lovely piece of equipment that looks great, is hard wearing and holds all of your waste/recycling in one place. The sensor opening lid is quite lazy but it is hygienic and I’ve found it very handy especially when you have your hands full so you can just use the back of your hand to open them and chuck things in. Highly recommended for anybody wanting a clean, touch-free and tidy solution to their rubbish.
We love this unit makes it easy to organize our recycling. I know cost more money but it is useful. The quality is better than that I have last one.
The motion detection works great with battery power (so don’t need to have it plugged in). Like the it opens for several seconds and then closes on it’s own which is great when you have wet or full hands and don’t want to get the lid dirty every time you want to open it.
Very easy to load a new bag onto the rim and the bag holder seems to work fine. It is stainless steel so I use the wipes to keep the bin clean and shiny. This bin can be an added upgrade to your kitchen if you have stainless steel appliances.

I could give 10 stars because this thing has changed my life !!! My husband NEVER close any lid so now don’t need to worry about the bin cause it closes itself !!! I hate when I’m cooking and have my hands dirty and hit open de bin to
Throw something, now I just get close and the lead open I don’t have to touch ANYTHING!!
Another thing really nice is that my kitchen is small and the tower shape saves my life, it has a lot of room for the bin divided in 3 parts !!
Super easy to clean , has weels on the bottom part
I’m more then pleased!
I loved the idea of this when I first got it but very quickly I realised it was thought through properly.
Plus Points:
It’s enormous and you can re-cycle to your hearts content before you’ll need to empty this
easy to use and very obvious what you can segregate for re-cycling.
Down Points: It’s Huge … couldn’t find anywhere to put this. We’re not Americans with great big houses and you’ll need a walk in larder, pantry to put this in. It’s not like a small unobtrusive bin in the corner … so where to put it? Outside
When you realise it needs to live outside then you realise this isn’t made from durable Matt plastic like your wheelie bin and you can see within days the rain and weather and going to make this look very tatty very quickly. Don’t buy this unless you have looooaaaaads of room.
Good waste bin, easy to use and clean, large capacity 60 litres.
Sometimes it is a bit hard to remove the waste bag, depending on how much waste has in, I use it for recycling.
It has wheels under so it is easy to move.
Sensors and touch works well, lid opens when motion is detected above the sensor and closes after 5 seconds, can be opened and closed with the touch buttons placed on each side of the display.
As expected it makes some noise but not very disturbing.
Requires 3 AA batteries (not included) I used non-rechargeable batteries and still works, so it doesn’t use too much of the power, anyway I recommend using rechargeable batteries.
On/off switch and battery compartment is located under the lid.
*I hope you find this review helpful.

These bins are great! Yes a bit on the pricey side, but a fantastic idea. They come in chrome or black. There are 2 smaller bins on top which are 25l each, they sit on the larger bin and slot into grooves. Both of the top bins are operated/opened by floating your hand over the top of them, the bin sensor goes off and the bin opens, it stays open for a little while and then closes on its on, or there is a little button to press to make it close. Each smaller bin uses 3 x AA batteries. The bottom bin which is 50L is a pull out bin. As I said fantastic design, you can have one for general waste, one for tins and glass and one for plastic, nice and easy for recycling. I really like these bins.

Elegant looking bin system, I really like these bins, only a few minor elements let them down. However I wouldn’t ever pay this much for a bin myself. Please see my list of pros and cons below:
PROS
– Smart and stylish looking bins, modern and clean looking, will go well in most kitchen settings
– Doesn’t take up much room, tall stack able design is great for space saving, with decent size capacity. (We use one for recycling, one for glasses bottles and one for general waste)
– Responsive sensor, waving hand over bin lid opens the bin for 5 seconds which is ample time to place something into the bin.
– Hold function, if 5 seconds is not long enough you can press this button to keep it held up and there is another button to close the lid.
– Smooth and quite function of bin lid opening. Not noisy like previous touch sensor bins I have owned
– Bottom bin glides in and out smoothly
– Internal bin bag holders cleverly designed so no ugly bin liner is visible on outside of the bin
– Batteries seem to be lasting a fair amount of time compared to other sensor bins I have owned, but only after continued use will I be able to report on whether they actually do last well.
CONS (or room for improvement)
– I wish there was a way to clip the stack able bins and larger freestanding bin together, as currently they just sit next to one another and on top of one another (would make it more sturdy)
– Internal bin bag holder is a bit flimsy and I can see this snapping in the near future with prolonged use
– I prefer bins with a removable internal bin for easier and cleaner use, this does not have that.
These bins look really nice in the kitchen which came as a set of 3, the main bin is taller than our old bin but still holds 60L but takes up less room which is good H72 x W25 x D33cm (Liner W45 x H90cm) which has a sensor that opens the lid quickly and remains open for 5 seconds then closes, getting the bin liner out just remove the lid and the two plastic inserts which hold the liner in place and pull the bag straight up. The two other recycling bins are 25L each H35 x W25 x D33cm (Liner W45 x H50cm) the top bin also has a sensor and works the same as the main bin, the second recycling bin just pulls out to fill up and empty. These bins are from stainless steel and a finger proof coating that does work so keeping them looking good.

This bin is quite stylish and with it’s rectangular shape, fits well in the corner of the kitchen. It has an inner ring, which you use to secure your bin bag in place, so it doesn’t slip down as you fill the bin. The sensor is touch open and close, and also has a 5 second timer, so it automatically closes if you don’t close it (however, my timer stopped working for some reason and just flashes now and goes off?). The bin requires 3 AA batteries (not included) to work. It has a reasonable capacity too, even in our 6 person house hold. It is stable and sturdy.

Wow .. what a great surprise I got with this 3 bin unit
1 for general waste, 1 for recycled waste and 1 for bottles
Sensor touch for open and auto close .. brilliant idea so you only need to wave your hand over the sensor and ha presto opens without having to touch anything and no need to wash your hands every time , and really only when the bins are ready to empty.
As it’s comes in two separate units you can either have them together or apart if restricted for space.
Mine sits perfectly in the corner of my kitchen and with the streamline look makes it look great
Although it’s not cheap it’s certainly worth every penny and more .
One very happy customer.
Really cool trash bin!
1. Automated opening and closing works well, one needs to just move near the trash bin to make it open!
2. Automated opening and closing can be switched off
3. Perfect mechanism to hide the edges of the bin bag, as you see on the picture only bin is visible!
4. Keeps smell inside the bin, which is great!
Cons:
1. Bin runs on batteries, they are not supplied and i think they should for the ease of set up…
Recommended!
Is it a must have? I think so, it changed my cooking for better, I use it as kitchen bin and anyone who tried to throw away pieces of food from different surfaces will now how priceless ja auto opening when your hands are busy with other dirty things and you try not to drip any of it on the floo

It’s great easy finish and does whatnot supposed to do
I was at the end of my tether with the dogs bin raiding. I couldn’t take it anymore and then these bins came up.
I almost passed them over because I dont like a big bin the kitchen, and also I have a small kitchen.
But the dogs bin raiding was getting to be and the bins looked ideal and so I go the tape measure out and found a spot they would fit.
I have tried a sensor bin before, but he just opened that, he loved it, it made bin raiding even easier. I do actually have a dog proof bin but apparently its also husband proof, opening a cupboard door was just too much effort.
So being honest the price made my eyes water, i had no idea that bins were so expensive, but then I haven’t brought one in about a decade (other than the little sensor one the dog loved) and i seem to remember that my not fancy cupboard bin was actually pricey for its time. But I have since been looking round and actually they are a reasonable price. But just still wow. I will freely admit though that they have saved my sanity and i dont think a cheap option would have worked or fitted in the space so nicely.
The black is a nice mat colour and therefore no finger print marks etc that you would get with stainless/chrome but they do attract dust and dander as you can see from the pictures (I have multiple pets so just accept a certain amount of fluff) but on the whole are easy to keep clean and nice looking.
They fit well into my small kitchen and do not dominate the space. We have been using them for a while as we really wanted to make sure they are dog proof. Yep. Sanity restored and bin raiding stopped, the toxic farts have been reduced (the dog, the husband doesn’t raid bins). Unless you have a very large dog I imagine these would stop the majority in their tracks.
The two smaller bins sit nicely stacked. The bottom one is a pull out drawer, we use this for recycling and the top one sits well and securely, its not been knocked off despite dogs and small boys best efforts. I use the top smaller one for general rubbish (i do not like to store lots of general waste in the house, especially the kitchen, its a hang up from my Mum who thought big kitchen bins were disgusting and unsanitary. Now you can understand my general hesitance at getting this set up, its a big bin).
The bins have a retaining collar for the bin liners and these work very well, no drips between bag and bin. With a little care you can actually get the bag completely hidden in the bin but to be honest that’s just a little bit too much effort for me.
I find that the sensors work fine, they are responsive and smooth, you can wave a hand over or press the buttons. They have a timer to self close. I haven’t had a problem with them at all and I have a small boy that likes to put one thing at a time into the bin because he likes setting the sensor off. Each of the sensor units take 2 AA batteries. The instructions do say to not manually open the bin as you could then damage the mechanism.
I use the large section for larger recycling items – we get a lot of boxes, its a great place to quickly stash them so I dont have to keep going out to the wheelie bin or overflow when the wheelie bin is full (again we get a lot of boxes).
So overall I do think these bins are worth it. If some had told me that they had spent almost 200 on bins I would have thought they were crazy but having used them they are worth it. Well made, nice little features like the double retaining collars and they actually dont take up that much space.

This bin is way too nice to put rubbish in, so I am using it in my bathroom to store clean towels in the top bin & toiletries in the bottom bin. It does say on the instructions not to use in very damp environments, but it looks so good I’m going to anyway, I think the worst that can happen is the sensor lid will be damaged, but you can easily lift it yourself.
You get two 25l bins & a frame. The top bin has a sensor lid which opens when you are about 20cm away, and then led numbers count down from 5-0 seconds and then automatically closes. This bin obviously sits ontop of the frame.
Underneath goes the second 25l bin which simply pulls out and pushes back in again. Both bins have frames inside to hold bin bag neatly in place.
It is very well made and certainly the finest bin I have owned, it is rather small for a family of six though, especially if used as a general waste and a recycling bin. And at near 100 it is expensive. I do love it though and certainly wouldn’t want to part with it.
Easy to keep clean, the large bin is huge. The 5 second timer works great, wave your hand over the sensor, the bin opens and then a visual countdown on the display for 5 seconds before the bin closes itself. If the lid comes into contact with anything while opening it will stop at that height and then begin the countdown to closing. When the smaller bin is on top of the pull out drawer it is a little unstable and wobbles easily. If using them all together as a complete system, the drawer has 2 metal poles at the back for stability which means it is deeper than the bin unit. Due to this you cannot have them both pushed right back to the wall without the smaller bin and drawer sticking out further than the big bin.
Both bin sensors run on 3x AAA batteries and are easy to fit and turn on.

Both bin sensors run on 3x AAA batteries and are easy to fit and turn on.
The Tower Freedom is a fantastic concept, creating a 3in1 bin whilst incorporating a recycling compartment is very clever and can help keep your kitchen clean and tidy. However sadly, these are some imperfections that need mentioning before you should purchase & consider carefully.
Firstly, yes, this product arrived safely without any breakage, though, I was shocked by the very large quantity of packaging used by Tower. It all arrived in an amazon box with 1 tower branded large box contained within. Within this large box was a total of 3 others smaller ones. A total of 5 boxes felt and seemed excessive, especially with all of the added polystyrene which was concerning on an environmental perspective.
Anyways, despite this, another imperfection was the recycling chamber/compartment. I noticed that it wasn’t levelled properly, despite following the correct installation method. There was a growing gap towards the right hand side which was to a degree noticeable and not acceptable for the price. This is a real shame as this would’ve been a 5 star if this problem wasn’t present. Please see images and video for reference
Now for the positives. The design is very sleek and elegant, which fit perfectly in my modern kitchen. All compartments can be removed to be cleaned with ease and then put back without a hassle. The recycling chamber has wheels on the base that slide in/out and can then be emptied into your recycling bin outside. As for the two smaller bins on the top surface, they require x3 AA batteries each to operate. Depending on the brand of your batteries, the battery life is long lasting and my previous tower bin (with similar sensor technology) lasted 2 months before having to be replaced. Please note that this product doesn’t come with batteries and these would have to be purchased alongside the bin if you want to access this feature.
The sensor technology is very convenient and hygienic. I love that this particular model has a visible LCD timer which can reset ever time your hand hovers over it. This is perfect for when you’re emptying food/rubbish into the bin and need longer than 5 seconds before the bin automatically closes. The bin can also close immediately by hovering your hand over the right hand side two bar symbol. Perhaps one of the two small (25l) rubbish bins can be reserved for food waste and the other for general rubbish. The choice is yours ;).
Overall, this is a great concept but needs some technical improvements before it will be worthy of a 5 stars…
Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you found it helpful! 🙂
Waste containers allow you to conveniently and quickly sort waste. The pull-out bottom container can also be used to store household items. The containers are made of high quality stainless steel. The top lids of containers with sensors open at a distance of about 15 cm, open and close quickly enough. This eliminates the need to touch the containers and keeps your hands clean and hygienic. The containers are sealed, odors are not particularly permeable. Waste containers are good dimensions and are well suited for offices and private homes. The containers are very stylish, ultra-modern and very comfortable. Sensory trash containers make waste disposal comfortable, environmentally friendly and hygienic. A very ingenious thing. Ideal for waste disposal

This is a review of the Tower Freedom T938010 Advanced Sensor Bin and not any of the other bins sold on this Amazon page. This particular variant comes with two 25 litre bins — each with a motion-sensitive automatic lid, and a single lower 50 litre bin which slides out via the attached handle.
The bin arrived in perfect condition in a very large product box. Similar bins I’ve received have been badly dented during shipping, but this Tower bin is well packed. That’s something of an achievement bearing the size of the box. Whilst it’s not particularly heavy it’s quite difficult to pick up single handed due to its bulk.
The bin is made of attractive stainless steel and comes with two motion activated lid so the bin opens and closes without the need to touch it.
In use it’s a bit irritating that the six AA batteries needed to operate the lids are not included. At the price I would have expected them to be supplied. Once powered the lids work well, at least for now, and unfailingly open when they detect motion close to the lid. They’re not over-sensitive though and don’t open when walking past. I had some issues finding suitable bin liners to fit the slightly unusual dimensions of the bin. Tower do not appear to make liners for the bin, or recommend a specific brand.
The stainless steel finish attracts finger marks and stains easily so requires regular cleaning. Whilst the lid works well for now I’ve had bins from other manufacturers where the lids have quickly failed. Hopefully that won’t be the case here but I’ll report back if there any issues.
I guess it depends on local recycling rules about whether this specific bin makes sense. You really get four different trash sections — the two 25 litre bins and the 50 litre lower bin which is divided into two sections. The bin makes most sense therefore if you have four different recycling protocols. I have three and to be honest none of the 25 litre bins are sufficient for general waste. It doesn’t work brilliantly for me but may for you.
Compared to other, perhaps better-known bin manufacturers, this stainless steel bin is actually quite good value for money although it is not cheap.
Overall a good four-star product.
90 seems like a lot to spend on a kitchen bin, but if you are looking to splash out on a fancy kitchen bin, this one is going to hard to beat. First off it looks great! It’s nicely proportioned, the finish is great and it looks super smart. Second – the functionality is spot on. The top section opens quickly and reliably the first time you hold your hand over the sensor and closes quietly and efficiently. I love the fact it’s in two sections, this is ideal if you are short on space. The bottom pull out drawer section works great. It has a long handle so you can just open/close it with your foot and slides out completely so emptying it is very easy. Both sections can be removed easily for emptying. If you are using bin liners, it has ring inserts on each bin so bin bag isn’t visible when the bins are closed. Overall an extremely nice bin.
I’ve bought various items from Tower and some might say I’m quite a fan of their super stylish kitchen products, that for the most part have not let me down. This bin not only looks great but equally functions smoothly. Yes, by that I mean this bin is part of the future tech of being touchless and sensor activated, meaning the bin opens when you want and automatically shuts closed when you’re done. The smooth, polished steel look makes this a classy addition like many other Tower products but as always you must be prepared to pay a bit of a premium.
The reviews have so far been mixed which leave me surprised, the version I refer to is the 60 litre. This bin has a slim, tall design measuring 72cm high and in a smooth black finish. The description mentions this is fingerprint-proof and I can testify to this as a week’s use has left no horrid oily/wet smears or prints on the surface. The bin remains as shiny as first received and easy to clean with a cloth. There is a bin lining tray inside, where the chrome stainless border adds a classy finish. The main feature, for what many are here for and will be paying for, is the sensor activated open and close. There are two icons, open lid and closed lid, and a counter to the top of the lid. To get the sensor lid working, 3 AA batteries were needed and inserted beneath the lid. I advise using rechargeable kinds as I quickly realised opening and closing bins happens a lot more than I thought!
Automatic open and close works on a reasonable 5-second timer, reactivating when sensing a continued presence. I worried this was far too short but after a few days use saw this was perfect, enough to throw rubbish in and still have a few seconds to finish up dusting. Regardless, the sensor reactivates at the sense of movement and extends the period of staying open. This extended timer is a simple yet highly necessary feature that I am glad Tower have maintained. The bin lid can also be closed with the wave of the hand near the closed lid icon. I have been pleased by how quickly the lid flings open and promptly closes as I walk away and the timer has run down. The batteries have lasted for a week now but show signs of running out. Again, this is the acceptable drawback of any sensor bin. The sensor bin has to be battery-powered after all, I recommend using rechargeable AA.
So far I have no complaints with the bin and funnily enough, have come to how a sensor bin is a rational purchase if your out looking for a solid kitchen bin. Being able to have it automatically open and close by movement has made disposing of rubbish more hygienic and convenient. There are no touching surfaces, and thereby the need for frequent cleaning of the bin, as well as the assurance of an always closed kitchen bin. While some may sulk at the need to replace batteries, there remain greater ways to manage battery lifespans. In all, I think the sale price of 50-60 is reasonable when one takes into consideration you get a clean, classy look and size coupled with smart function.
I am absolutely delighted with this sensor bin – not only is it sleek and modern looking and looks great in our kitchen (check out the video) but it’s also a large size and I love the sensor function. The bin arrived well packaged in a separate Amazon box over the box the bin was packaged in but this is necessary as I can imagine that the bin would dent easily in transit if not properly packaged.
Once opened, the instructions were clear and easy to follow and it only took a couple of minutes to set it up by inserting a bin bag and 3 x AA batteries. I’ve been using rechargeable batteries and these have so far lasted a week of rather heavy use and are still going strong. I’ve been using 75 litre capacity bin bags but could probably use bags with a smaller capacity, given the bin’s capacity is 60l. Inserting the bags are easy – just wrap the top of the bag around the perimeter of the detachable lid and then insert a separate section on top of this to keep the bag in place. The lid and separate section that you place over the lid are made from plastic and at first I was concerned that they wouldn’t be strong enough but they’ve been fine.
The sensor function has been very impressive – just place your hand over the sensor on the lid and it opens for you to insert your rubbish. I was initially concerned that the lid would be opening whenever I walked past the bin but that’s not been the case and we’ve hardly had any accidental openings. Once opened, there’s an electronic counter (see video) counting down from 5 seconds before the lid closes again. However, if your hand is still over the sensor then the counter stops and only counts down when your hand is removed so this works very well indeed.
One of the most impressive features for me (as well as the sensor and how good it looks) is that it has a capacity of 60l and yet is only slightly larger than our previous bin which only held 35l. It doesn’t feel too large at all in our kitchen and is just the right size for a family of 4. We filled a large bin bag in around 6 days so for a smaller family, this might take longer and the downside being that waste is lying around in the bin and will start smelling. In this case, best to empty it after 3-4 days regardless of how full it is. Once you lift the bin bag out, the inside of the bin was fairly clean but I wiped around it with a disinfectant wipe just in case.
Given it’s 60l size, the bin is quite lightweight and even has 4 castors for easy movement but I found that you don’t need to wheel it as it’s quite light. One downside of this is that it might dent easily so best to handle it with care.
Overall, I’ve been extremely impressed with this bin and I’m wondering why I didn’t buy a sensor bin or even just a bin that looks as good as this sooner. It’s an excellent buy.

I have been pleased to sample and test this Tower Freedom Recycling System. The system comprised of
two 25 litre and one sixty litre sensor activated, stainless steel bins.
Recycling is here to stay folks and it not only makes sense to do this but in doing so it assists the process to
be organised. Firstly, they are all lightweight. So although they are robust they are not heavy and easy to
manoeuvre.
I set up the system as per the website with the 60 litre on one side and the twi 25 litre bins on the other.
The lids are in a black, tough plastic which open and close very easily. They are described as sensitive and
that is correct. Each of the ‘pop-up’ bins take a few seconds to open and close and if you are not quick enough
merely put your hand by the sensor at the top and it will reset .
I particularly like it is a complete system where it will take all recyclable items, it is easy to lodge and simple
to dispose.
The battery life is somewhat heavy and actually surprising. For that only, I have docked a star.
On the more positive side, I found the system prevented any odours when it is closed, although that said
with the amount of recycling, it is usually emptied daily.
So, overall there is a lot to commend the Tower system, not least that it encourages a mindset of recycling
and this format provides a hygienic way of doing so.

This review is for the 60litre bin and 2x 25litre bin configuration. My first impression was how big the retail packaging box was (92cm by 65cm by 44cm). It has a battery operated sensor for movement and a countdown before automatically shutting the lid.
Things I liked:
* responsive handsfree bin lid opening/closing mechanism
* no electricity required
* big storage capacity
Overall, it’s a little too big for my kitchen. I would strongly recommend double checking the product dimensions beforehand. The lid sensor is a little sensitive and after week’s usage, I will have to be changing it for new set of rechargeable set of AA batteries. I hear the ike@ ladda batteries are very good. Finally, if your kitchen can accommodate this 3 piece bin, then I would recommend it.
Honestly, in my opinion dust bins were one of the least concerned items in my house next to the brooms and toilet brushes. However, this product genuinely changed my perspective in different ways.
The product comes in a single box with 3 different units and boxes. The whole unit comprises mainly 4 units- 2 25 litres bins with sensor lids and 1 50 litres bottom basket and a small shelf like structure that acts as a lid to the 50 litres bucket as well as a base stand for 2 smaller bins.
Each 25 litres bin has frames to hold the bin liner in place while 50 litres bin missing these. The entire unit is in silver Gray and black in colour and looks elegant and modern.
Both bins requires 3 AA size batteries to operate while the bigger bin opens by pulling the handle forward.
Pros
– Style
– Convenience to segregate the waste
– Effortless
– Durable
– Quick response of the sensor
Cons
– Way more Expensive
– Limited capacity ( personally I prefer 70- 90 litres bin for general waste in my kitchen)
– No attachments for the liners in 50 litres box.
This is a great bin for the kitchen, I love it, the design, colour, size and sensor are all fantastic. Highly Recommend.
1. This is Well made sensor bin, Good quality, Durable and Robust.
2. Holds a large amount of waste making it ideal for a family households.
3. Very Easy to Clean and Use- the bin has smart lid, I do a hand swipe over the sensor and the lid automatically opens and close, allowing hygienic waste disposal and removing the need to touch the surface of the bin.
4. This looks smart and elegant, and the colour fit the aesthetic of our kitchen.
5. I do appreciate that the battery compartment is underneath the lid of the bin, which will prevents corrosion of the battery from any liquids.
6. The wheels on the bottom of the bin makes it easier for me to move the bin around.

If we want a recycling station we have to accept the large size, but it takes up a compact space, less than single bins.
These stylish bins can be stacked on top of each other for orderly waste disposal.
It comes with a sturdy support platform, a removable lower basket, equipped with wheels, of 25 liters, and two upper containers equipped with motion sensors, one with a 25 liter capacity and the other 60 liters.
Ideal for those who love tidiness and order.
The construction is sturdy, the design simple.
Assembling the garbage bags is child’s play, a clean experience, given the minor contact with possible germs.
The lid closes by itself after 5 seconds of inactivity. Alternatively there is a manual button for opening and closing.
The battery compartment is easy to open and to store the batteries inside.
Very easy to clean and stays shiny.
I have had no accidents or have never had to wait for the lid to open.
The sensor is very sensitive and responsive and the lid opens quickly.
The package insert is very clear and easy to follow.
The only flaw: the price, too high, not for everyone.
The Tower Freedom Recycling System claims to be the “ALL-IN-ONE HOUSEHOLD RECYCLING SYSTEM” and is, in theory, a great solution for indoor collection of recyclables and household waste. It looks good and, on first glance, seems to be well designed.
The system comprises three separate bins, one at 60 litres and two at 20 litres, the latter can be stacked to save space. The topmost 20 litre bin and the 60 litre have motion sensor technology to open and close the lids whilst the bottom 20 litre bin slides out/forward to access it. The sensors certainly work well but can be a little annoying if you inadvertently pass a little too close to them.
The first thing that I noticed upon taking the bins out of their packaging was how thin the metal carcasses are, I would imagine that it will not be too long before they are dented. The plastics used do not create a great impression either – especially the retaining rings for the bin liners which feel as though they will easily snap if not treated carefully.
However, for actual storage these bins are a good size, can be cleaned easily and they sit together neatly (it’s a pity that the tall bin does not clip onto the two stackable bins to create one unit as it tends to keep moving apart from the two stackables and needs constant adjustment to keep them looking neat when standing in an open space).
I would say that these bins are not the best of quality and, for the price, I would expect the six AA batteries required for the sensors to be supplied, as well as the correct instruction leaflet (the one in the box was for a similar but different model).
The perfect bin! The bin looks great. It’s modern and sleek and exactly what I was looking for in my kitchen. It’s the perfect family size. The no-touch sensor opening and closing is so good and obviously very hygienic. My only comment is that it’s quite sensitive and if I reach for something above it, it does lift up, but this is more a downside as to where I have it I think. It’s easy to change the bag as there is a ‘ring’ that sits inside to hold the bag in place which is another good feature as I’m not keen on seeing overlapping bag edges when closed. I’m really pleased with it!
These bins are fantastic value for money! Its perfectly compact and slim, so fits into small narrow spaces very well.
I like that you can stack the recycling bins and keep them next to your main bin, or remove them and keep them elsewhere.
The main bin hardly take up any space and the sensor works a treat – I included a video.
You can fit surprisingly a lot into these bins and they are well made. The bin liner insert fits inside without being visible from the outside. Looks modern and stylish, what more can you ask for?
Never thought I would get excited about a bin, but I have been showing it off to the whole family It is a great bin and a very good price for something that will last years and years.

I am delighted with this recycling system. I am an avid recycler but am always so glad when the recycling man comes to get rid of the unsightly bags of cardboard, glass and plastic out of the garage. These are fantastic. Easily takes a weeks household normal recycling this system is smart, looks so sophisticated and fits neatly against the wall in the utility room. One 60 litre bin and two twenty five litre bins, these lids are, sensor activated which is very very hygienic and take three batteries in each lid. They can be operated manually if you don’t want the expense of putting batteries in but I am loving the novelty at the moment of the bin lid opening by itself.
Not a cheap option but a sound investment if like me you hate clutter. I am pleased with this system and think it deserves five stars and am happy to recommend.
This bin is amazing. It comes with two parts. The top part is automatic and the bottom part is the pull out bit. It has a good design so it lines the bin bag around the edge so it doesn’t fall in. The packaging is good too. It is secure and has foam around the edges.

The bin needs 3 AA batteries (not supplied) to work, these are fitted just inside the lid
To use the bin, just hover your hand over the sensor and the lid will open, it stays open for 5 seconds before closing by itself
This bin is slightly taller than my old bin, but it’s slimmer so actually takes up less room in my kitchen, the lid works like a dream and it’s really easy to change the inner bin bag, and as the bin is on wheels I can slide it out to make emptying it easier
I really love using this bin, can’t wait for my grandkids to see it at the weekend, they’ll be actively looking for rubbish to throw away lol
The bin is rather more expensive than my old bin (well that was a plastic one from the supermarket so no surprise there really), would I pay this much for a bin? I’m not sure, to me it’s a lot of money to pay out, but it looks great, it works really well and if you’ve room then you can add to it by buying the recycling range too, it would look great in a utility room, alas I’ve just got a small kitchen so this bin is perfect for me, on looks and performance I’m happy to recommend, I’m just not sure I could justify paying so much for a rubbish bi
We like the appearance, the 60-litre capacity and the anti-fingerprint finish. It really is easy to keep the black finish looking smart.
We especially liked the sensor mechanism but decided to wait and see if other reviewers’ comments about battery life were justified. They do seem to be. I’ve only waited a few days but a set of Duracell Ultra batteries are now showing just 1.4 volts each vs. the 1.57 they started with. I’ll use rechargeables, to save recycling new batteries every few weeks, but it’ll still be inconvenient, and rechargeables aren’t cheap. I’ve mislaid the instructions and can’t check whether they advise against rechargeables. You could open/close it manually but then you’d be paying for technology you’re not using.
Another possible irritation is that the bin is a little lightweight and unstable, especially when empty. It isn’t too bad and won’t be a problem for us where it is, tucked in a corner. If it were free-standing or you had dogs/children who might crash into it, perhaps it would be more of a concern.
At least the price has come down recently, from 80 to 60. It’s a nice bin and is probably worth the money, as long as you use rechargeable batteries.
I’m getting use to having a smaller big, but it’s making me take the rubbish out more often so that’s great!
The 1st lot of cheaper batteries didn’t last long but bought better quality ones and so far so good!
Needs to be positioned where it’s not walked past all the time or it’ll open lots!
I think it’s a cleaver idea though,
I like having the pull out drawer underneath which I’m using for my recycling,
It’s easy to put bags into them but find that, especially with the top bin, that the ‘ring’ you put the bag on is quite flimsy and could break? Without the ‘ring’ you’d have the bag hanging out looking messy??
It’s a good size that fits perfectly where I want it too,
It is expensive though for a bi

You have 2 bin sections. The top one has a sensor so that when you pass your hand over it it lifts the lid up so you can throw stuff in without touching it. It then counts down and closes itself. Very fancy!
The bottom section is on wheels and pulls out by a handle on the front.
Both sections will take a typical blackbag and there’s also a plastic trim to hold the bags open in place.
They suggest you use it for rubbish / recycling however I’m using it for double rubbish.
It’s fairly light but appears well made althow a bit pricey.
You will need 3 AA batteries which go in under the lid where you also find the on off button.
If you have cats they can also set off the opening mechanism which is good entertainment.

These three sets of the bin are well designed and look very stylish. They are easy to use and clean; you need AA batteries to activate the sensor for the automatic lid. I’ve been using these bins for nearly a month now, and I still don’t have to change the batteries yet.
The top bins have two buttons if you want to open a lid manually. One button is to open and another one to close the lid. The sensor works very well, and the top stays open for five seconds which is enough time to put rubbish in the bin.
The bottom bin is smooth and easy to pull open; even two 25 litre bins on top, excellent construction!
Overall, the size of these bins is good enough for my family of five, everything working fine for me, and I am delighted with this product. Definitely worth the extra cost.
I hope this review is helpful for you to make a purchasing decision.

The bins are massive, and black in colour, with a swipe of the hand the lid opens and closes, these bins do need 4 AA batteries; the battery life is about 4 – 5 days. You have the option to stack or individually place them.
I like these bins they hold lots of recycling, waste or even storage for toys.
These bins are on the large side so these will engulf a smaller kitchen.
I recommend these bins they have large capacity and elegant.
Pros
– Large capacity
– Sensor technology
– Stackable
Cons
– Rather large
At first, When the wife asked me to pick up this bin, I thought it was overkill, having a bin which was sensor activated. I mean what’s the big deal? However, about 10 minutes after this arrived, I fell in love with it. Its stylish and very impressive. 2 X 25 liters and a 50 liter compartment for all your needs.
personally, we use one of the 25 liters for the dogs puppy pads and such, and the other 25 liter for day to day waste, and the 50 liter is dedicated to recycling. And the sensors are fantastic. You don’t actually realize how much you need one of these until you have one. The battery operated lids work perfectly, and open with a wave, and close after 5 seconds. If you don’t want to wait, you can just apply the tiniest amount of pressure to the lid, and it will close. but Since the batteries will last 6 months with a 20 use per day frequency, then I’m super happy with that.
This is a great bin, and I as ‘first world’ as it wounds, Ill never go back to a normal bin.
This is excellent recipe for clean and tidy looking kitchen. Tower Freedom provides complex solution for recycling system in household. These bins are stackable, where 2 x25L are located on top of 1 bigger 50L. Because there is metal construction you can freely still operate bottom bin one without taking top bins. Two top bin have fully automated self-raising lid with sensor, countdown as well 2 button for opening and closing. Everything is powered by AA batteries and so far, roughly after 2 weeks i still didn’t had to replace batteries so great stuff.
After opening top lid by activation sensor or touching opening button lid will close itself after 5 seconds unless you touch button again so it will stay open for longer if you peeling something etc. Whole system is super quiet and thanks to build in sensor there is no worries about making bin dirty, nasty with hands while cooking for example.
On beginning i was worried that 25L will not be enough for general waste however there is positive side of it. Because now filling up very quick i am taking rubbish outside to skip more often which eliminates smell in kitchen, i used to leave it longer what causes food to root inside of bigger bin. Since i have Tower Freedom i start finally recycling not only cardboard, plastic and general but also glass. Huge improvement. Extremely happy with this product.
I have been using this Tower bin for a month now. The sensor lid works well and is very responsive. It also opens the lid pretty fast. I haven’t had any accidents or never had to wait for the lid to open. My point is that the sensor is very sensitive and responsive and the lid opens fast enough for you not to wait for it!
Every time the lid opens there is a 5 seconds count down on the large screen on top of the bin which tells when the lid will close. If you need more time for the lid to remain open you need to cross your hand (or something) in front of the sensor and the count down will reset!
I should also mention that every now and then the 5 seconds lid countdown doesn’t activate after opening. The lid remains open for a longer time and then the lid closes automatically a bit later! I’m not sure what happens here! My feeling is that there might be way that I accidentally inactivate the closing process! So I’m not sure! I haven’t figured it out. Anyways, when this happens it always closes the lid after a shorty while!
There are 4 small wheels underneath the bin which are very helpful to move the bin around when it is full!
For the first couple of times that I was taking the bin liner out the bin cut the lines a bit. But I think it was my fault! You realize how to take the lines out properly. Basically, you should take it out gently and straight up! I think the top edges of the bin could have been made smoother to avoid any cuts in the liner! It’s not a too much of a problem though!
The capacity is very good for us! 50 liters is not small but not too large! And for a family of 3 it takes 2-3 days to fill this with garbage! I should mention our wet garbage goes in this bin!
All in all I like this bin. It works well and looks smart! I give it a good strong 4. This is because of the few negative points I mentioned. Nevertheless, I would buy it myself! So I happily recommend it.
This is certainly a really impressive unit to make your splitting of recycling a lot easier. The largest bottom container simply wheels out and we use have to store cardboard packaging and glass. The two top bins are operated by waving your hand over them and a lid will lift allowing you too easily and hygienically dispose of food waste or general rubbish. The only thing that I feel is a bit of a letdown on this unit is the fact it is powered by triple a batteries and because of the price I was hopeful it would be rechargeable via USB. Fortunately we have some rechargeable batteries of the correct size so we will use them. The operation of the lids is swift and the size of the opening is excellent.
The powdered black metal finish is really good quality and makes this rather large unit look quite sleek. The finish seems pretty hard wearing and although I am not going to try and scratch it on purpose I would expect it will survive the general knocks and usage marks you can expect in the kitchen.
The two top caddies are easy to clean out in the event of any spillage and the top assembly is made out of plastic which can easily be wiped clean with an antiseptic wipe.
Overall a good solution for a medium to large size family to sort out their recycling and general waste with ease.
The bin are easy to clean and remove but I did find them not very sturdy . I think maybe would of benighted from a clip that held the taller one to the smaller ones togethe
Tower bin just as it’s name says.
This bin would do great for small spaces kitchens when you trying to save any little space.
Although 60l ,it requires just a bit of space.
In the case of heavy garbage ,the bin comes with wheels underneath so it can easily be pulled around if necessary.
Personally ,I am using this for recycling so it never gets that heavy.
Instead ,due to its length ,once the bag is full, is quite challenging to pull it off as it seems to get stuck inside ,so where with normal plastic bins it would take me less than a second to remove the bag, with this one, is a whole process to remove the bag and place a new one.
Also ,most of the time ,the bag will get ripped off on some areas when trying to pull it.
The sensory part is a mystery.
Sometimes is working as it should be ,sometime will just do whatever it likes 🙂
I have changed the batteries as I though this might be the cause, however the issue seems to last.
I like it as it looks more elegant than normal bins so it can be kept in the kitchen are without catching your eye in a bad way.
Overall ,this is a good bin but the in my opinion a bit overpriced.
It’s a huge bin, but surprisingly very lightweight. It does feel robust though, and it isn’t fragile. I like the narrow design as well as it doesn’t occupy too much space in my kitchen.
I love the sensor on the lid – it’s very responsive, and allows me to easily discard items even when my hands are smeared with food. It’s much faster and more efficient than a foot-operated lid. We’ve been using it for almost a month now and haven’t needed to replace the batteries yet (though I do believe I might need to replace them quite soon as the sensor isn’t as responsive right now, but I wanted to test how long it takes before replacement is needed).
It’s very spacious. Bin bags can be securely fitted inside and taken out when full. The lid is sturdy and doesn’t bulge upwards even when the bin is full. It’s also super easy to clean if a leak happens through the bin bag.
The bin also looks sleek, and adds a clean, modern touch to my kitchen.
Cost-effective and practical – would happily recommend.
These bins are great. They are well constructed
and the stacking design is brilliant for keeping things
to the smallest footprint possible.
I like the black Paint finish and they wipe down easily.
I think they look really stylish, much better than the
usual bins.
Throughly pleased and 100% recommended.
This bin is great.
It looks very stylish in my kitchen.
It is the perfect capacity for a kitchen bin.
The grey and black colouring is chic and stylish.
I loved it.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this. I already have a recycling system of wicker magazine baskets in three locations that works well with diligent emptying. If you have plenty of space with a laminate or tiles floor (bottom bin slides out manually and doesn’t work well on carpet), AND like to bulk empty the recycling to the bin- maybe it’s for you. The top bins have been grabbed for office rubbish/ confidential waste, and we’re still puzzling out if the bottom bin with its flexing plastic handle is of any use. Manufactured in China, the whole thing- bins and packing is emitting dreadful smelly VOCs at the moment, and we just missed recycling week for the 5 cardboard boxes. Polystyrene formers seem a bit unnecessary in a ‘recycling’ system and they are giving me a bad headache. I’m not sure of the battery life or whether it will take eneloop rechargeables. Overall it seems a bit erratically designed. The internal bin lining ring is good though.
Not long ago I was thinking to upgrade my bin. I wanted to add some more space for recycling things so I dont need to go outside every time to put something in wheely bin.
Amazon Vine, I think, has read my mind and offered me Tower brand recycling stacking bin. The bottom biggest drawer I use for papers, tins and plastic. The top bin I use for every day waste.
These two 25L stacking bins stand on the fitted metal frame. The bottom bin have wheels and easily pulls out.
I like this bin but found some things which forced me to knock a star off:
– the price, far to high, I would pay maximum 60-70 for it;
– bin is very lightweight, like made of thin, easy to damage materials
– bin have lid which opens up and closes with sensor (2xAA batteries non included, they need to be placed on the back of the lid panel – lift it up and turn around. There is also switch button). Batteries will not last long around bigger family. Everyone will have something to put in the bin so it will work many times through the day. The sensor is very sensitive and even passing by the bin, my jumper can activate it. Once sensor detects movement, lid lifts up and stays up for 5 seconds and then closes. If movement is still there (like peeling carrot), lid is open until we finish, 5 seconds later it closes. It counts down on LED display from 5 seconds down.
There are 2 buttons by the display. One is to open lid manually, the other one to close it manually. ‘H’ letter shows means ‘hold on’ I think, so the bin stays open without counting numbers down. When we press button = bin closes and is ready to detects movement again. Red light flashes every few seconds as a standby mode.
– underneath the lid is frame on which we put bin bag through and it holds the bag. This frame is thin and wobbly, may break in the near future and this wouldn’t be good.
– will be nice to have other bin colours to choose from to match the kitchen decor
On good side I can say that this bin looks good, pretty elegant. It is a bit big but if we want recycling station at home, then we need to accept the size too.
Bin looks great in the kitchen space. We use the top 2 in other rooms and the recycling bottom part in the kitchen and the bottom half to store bin liners and cleaners in. We have a second bin for recycling so just needed this one for the non-recyclables. Does what we wanted and really love the automatic open and shut feature.
Bought this as I was sick of our house leaving plastic recycling stacked in a pile next to the sink! It’s taken a week for them to remember we now have a section of the bin allocated for cans & bottles. I’m pleased with it although I’ve had to move it out of heavy traffic area as it opens every time you pass.
all the bins are of a good size. The automatic lid on the upper bin requires 3 AA batteries to operate Batteries are not included. The manufacturer claims that you should get up 3-6 months automatic opening followed by the visible 5-second countdown on the LED display before the lid closes again Should you require the lid to remain open longer, it will do so, as long as your hand/arm remains within the range of the sensor during the 5-second countdown.
A nice smart looking bin, slimline with a very large capacity, the large refuse sacks are ideal which is great as I can place these straight into the outside bin.
What I also find helpful is that if I didn’t want to carry the bin bags, I could wheel this bin to the door!
Definitely more hygienic and has worked every time without any faults.
I really like this and is one of those products I wasn’t sure I needed but now I would really miss not having it and for the health aspect its worth having.
It’s great because it’s a large bin but takes up hardly any space, less room than smaller bins.
Easy to use, have attached a quick vid for this.
There is a little bounce just as it closes, however it doesn’t topple and the lid always remains on there.
The only disappointment is that it was dented upon arrival, likely to have been in transit with something heavier being placed on top, this is a large box that it arrives in and is easily mistaken for being stronger, the bin infact is strong but the sides are formed of a lightweight material, ideal for manoeuvring and lifting for the stack system but can become dented if under excessive pressure.
I don’t believe the bins can be made any differently for their purpose and neither would they need to be, so maybe a note re transit for this particular product would be a better and more practical consideration. I still love my bin and it doesn’t show unless taken out of the kitchen with the side that got squished showing.
There are instructions, it seemed upon looking at the diagrams there may be an inner bin to place inside but this doesn’t come with one, most likely would interfere with the automatic mechanism and doesn’t need one but just pointed it out to confirm there isn’t an extra inner bin, incase anyone else mistakes the diagrams like I did!
Very easy to clean and stays nice and shiny. The instructions advise placing this away from other items and not under anything because this may interfere with the signal. I’ve placed mine by two walls and a bin, partially under a shelf and near to the fridge freezer! And it works perfectly. I’ve placed a photo up for size comparison showing it standing next to the bin it replaced!
An advantage is it is useful for anyone with mobility limitations and encouraging for children to tidy up too.
This requires batteries to work. 3 x AA which are easily inserted into the battery compartment inside the lid, the compartment is easy to remove and place back on. There is an on/ off switch by the compartment, useful for when changing the bin bag.
All the family love it and I’m enjoying seeing the new enthusiasm all have of tidying up! The old bin is now a recycling container as was only a few months old but the stacking unit that this automatic bin can be added too looks great for that and I may one day look into getting the whole unit as it seems ideal to have everything togethe

Really really like these great Quailty and impressive stylish looks for a a recycle centre ( stacking recycle centre)
I got black as I have found that with the silver you are endlessly cleaning it. With the black I think it looks stylish and so easy to clean.
I Really like the stability of the unit I was a little worried the bottom 50ltr drw would Be a struggle to pull open but no such problem. In fact it’s so easy I leave it to fill up then pull out and take the whole drw to the main recycle bin out side to empty.
The top two 25 ltr bins are easy to locate as the bottom frame had the shape of the bins recessed into the top so the bins are very secure. You need 6 AA batteries for both top bins 3 in each. The compartment for the batteries is easy to open and to place the batteries inside. The switch to turn the bins on is next to the batteries compartment.( simple switch)
The instruction leaflet is very clear and easy to follow and shows you how easy it is to fit the bags.( lift out the collar, place the bag inside, insert the collar inside bag and rest it on its shelf, then just fold bag inside.) place the lids back on top of bins then your ready.
The sensors are on the top edge of the bins once on they flash every now and then ( let you know the batteries are still good.) to open you pass your hand over the top and the lid will open ( you then have 5 secs for the lid to fall on its own).
Overall I am very pleased with the operation and look and you looking after the planet at same.
Like all households should, we are embracing recycling and trying to do our little bit towards protecting the planet by sorting our waste! That being said, I have become increasingly frustrated with the multiple bins we had in our kitchen – the general waste bin, an ad-hoc recycling bin we bought (which just sat on our utility area worktop – not ideal!) and the food waste bin! Whilst I totally embrace the concept of recycling, I couldn’t stand the clutter this created in our home!
I work away from home for some days in the week leaving my other half dealing with the kids and household stuff on her own (she’s a gooden!) which invariably means I come home to a large amount of recycling which has filled the ad-hoc bin we bought and spilled over onto the worktop which then looked awful and blocked the microwave! (Sounds bad but we do keep our house tidy!!)
I saw this bin and thought it was a great concept so decided to give it a go.
The bin arrived in a large cardboard box with the bin within that box in its own branded box. Within the branded box were two further boxes containing each element of the bin (the recycling is now well and truly over flowing but it’s a one off and ensured the bin arrived well protected and damage free). The top part of the bin is for general waste and has a sensor opening function meaning if it detects movement near to the lid, it opens and then has a small LCD panel which counts down a 5 second timer before it closes again. The mechanism is smooth and whisper quiet (unlike other sensor bins). It also has a manual button for opening which when you touch it activates the opening function with the lid opening itself but with this function, the bin lid remains open until you push the close button – this is particularly handy at the end of dinner time when you are trying to get rid of any leftovers as with our old sensor bin, the lid just closed itself each time and you had to rush to get the waste in before the lid closed (doesn’t sound too bad but was actually quite frustrating).
The top bin simply sits on the lower bin (which has a lip to ensure it stays seated properly) with the lower section being a pull out compartment for the recycling. You will see in the video that it didn’t really pull out or push back in very well but that is mainly my fault for trying it on carpet and also as it was brand new – whilst it is still a little clunky in operation, on the kitchen floor it moves fine now and I have no issue with it.
Each section comes with a ring of plastic that sits within the lid area of the section, effectively locking the bin bag inside which I like and the outside finish is described as anti fingerprint which appears to be accurate and is a godsend in my opinion (our old bin was a mirror style stainless finish which was a nightmare to keep clean!!).
The build quality appears okay, it did feel a little flimsy at first but I guess it is only a bin and we have had no issues with it so far. Clearly, there is an element of compromise with this bin in that you are effectively halving the bin between waste and recycling meaning it will inevitably need emptying more regularly but I don’t mind that to be honest, it means the bin is refreshed more regularly and it’s a lot easier to carry out to the wheelie bin than a large full bin bag! The recycling bin area is also quite a nice size and can easily accommodate a reasonable amount of bottles and packaging waste.
You will need to buy 3 x AA batteries that aren’t supplied but all in all, I think it’s a decent bin that will de-clutter our kitchen and at the time of writing, I’m more than happy with it. The price seems a little high for what it is but looking around at other products, it seems to be the going rate for a decent bin so does appear comparative.
A nice shiney bin. If you have more waste or want to separate more recycling, it is compatible with other bins in the range. However for us the top bin is big enough for waste, and the bottom ideal for mixed recycling.
A touchless bin is great for disposing of messy waste or unmentionables. And the pull out is fine for the recycling.
Now as to cleaning – well in the aim of writing a through review, I threw hot sauce at it… Well no we had an accident with the hot sauce, which not only splattered the bin but some dripped as waste was being placed into the bin. So how did I clean it? With a wet sponge. It looked a bit smeary, so I used a dry cloth and it buffed up to a nice shine with very little effort. Definitely easy to clean and get back to looking good.
The bag holding is another good design feature. The whole top rim comes out of each part, then there is an inner seal ring that also detaches. So you can fold your bag over the rim, and then place the seal back in place to hold it, and then put the bag neatly back into the bin. Its complicated to explain but simple to use.
Its worth the money.
5 year guarantee upon registration within 28 days of purchase. Otherwise 1 year guarantee if you do not register.
This 60L & 2x25L recycling system bin is a must have for kitchen hygiene. No more touching bin lids especially if busy cooking or baking as you can ‘clear as you go’ without the worry of cross contamination from bin to worktop.
The outer casing of the bin is stainless steel colour but with a brushed finish so it will not show finger marks. There’s an inner plastic ring which you lift up with ease and keeps your bin liner secure to stop it dropping or sagging inside.
To use the automatic sensor, insert batteries in the lid and make sure you flick the little switch underneath to ON.
To open the bin with the automatic sensor wave your hand 5-20cm over the sensor and the lid will automatically open and stay open for 6 seconds. Once open the digital timer counts down from 5 seconds and closes again. If you keep your hand over the sensor area the lid will stay open if you have a few items of rubbish to discard. The lid opens and closes slowly rather than pinging up quickly.
The indicator light flashes red (every 4 seconds). When the lid opens, the indicator light shows green. When the lid closes, the indicator light shows red. You can turn off the sensor with the switch underneath if your away from home on holiday and want to preserve the battery power.
As the bin is a rectangle shape it’s much easier and looks tidier against the wall rathe than the usual rounded bins.
For the sensor lid to work you need batteries, do not mix brands though. The batteries can last 3-6 months based on the bin lid opening 20 times per day. High alkaline batteries can last up to 2 year on standby only.
Care of the bin: Do not press on the lid when it’s opening. Do not manually open the lid as it may damage it. Do not immerse in water, instead wipe over with a slightly damp cloth.
The only negative I have with the bin is that you will not be able to place it beneath a bench as the lid will not open fully. So if that’s where you normally house your kitchen bin then this one isn’t suitable for you. You can visualise the height of the bin in the photo, it’s a couple of inches shorter than a standard sized washing machine.
The bin came with clear instructions and performs exactly as described.
The automatic opening & closure sensor helps make it very hygienic in that you can dispense of waste items without having to touch the lid.
We are very pleased with the capacity of the upper bin. The bottom storage area is more limited but the compactness of the unit compared to have two separate bins more than counter balances that.
Not sure how long the batteries will last but plan to compensate for that by having two sets or rechargeable batteries.
It is a bit expensive, so I’m hoping it will last long
In a nut shell, if you’re looking for a fancy pants bin, and like gadgets then this is the one for you.
To summarize…
It has a bin at the top and one at the bottom.
The bottom bin you pull out manually.
The top bin takes 3 AA batteries. These are not included.
Once the batteries are in the bin has automatic opening. It’s a sensor, and you can move your arm or hand over it and it opens.
It then has a digital countdown of 5 seconds before closure. If 5 seconds isn’t long enough and your hand is In the way it won’t close, it will start again.
So child safe.
Good for lack of touching bins.
The metal is strong and sturdy.
Mine came within a box within a box, so we’ll protected and no damage in transit.
It’s tall and this rather than wide.
Do check the measurements.
Easy to clean , I just used kitchen spray and a wipe.
It is alot of money for whats essentially a bin, however it does look way better than plastic and its certainly not flimsy.
I recommend!!

This review concerns the Tower Freedom T938016 50L Advanced Sensor Dual Recycling Bin with Fingerprint Proof Coated Exterior, Stainless Steel, price at review 104.93.
From a well known, established manufacturer this compact but capacious unit looks, operates, feels and oozes quality.
Part of an extensive range, other elements of which can be combined with this unit.
Arriving extremely well packaged, its just a matter of fitting three AA batteries (Not included) into the upper lid section and stacking onto the lower section.
Simply placing your hand a short distance from the upper lid opens the bin for about 5 seconds, followed by an auto closure. To keep the lid open longer its just a matter of holding your hand over the lid. Manual operation is also available.
Battery life is claimed at about 2years assuming opening the bin 20 times per day.
The lower bin has small rollers allowing the bin to be extracted with ease.
A great looking, compact fully functional stainless steel set.

I’m really pleased with this bin. It automatically opens and closes as it has a sensor that detects my hand movements.
This has become really handy in my house as nobody really likes touching the bin lids.
It looks great too, the stainless steel matches well with the appliances in my kitchen and it adds to the modern feel.
I really love that the stainless steel has a coating on it which helps prevent finger prints.
It’s a good size and for me, it’s lightweight and fits perfectly in the kitchen corner.
The only disappointing thing is the plastic bin liner clip that hold the bags in place. It just seems a little flimsy to me.
Everything else seems to be really good quality and well-built. Overall it feels like a durable product.
Quite pleased with this sensor bin but the price does seem a little steep for me.

As kitchen bins go, this is a very nice example of the species. The slightly matt (not quite brushed) stainless steel finish looks good (at least when it’s new — how long will that last!?) and sets off the matt black lid and detailing nicely.
Mine fits nicely under the kitchen worktop with a good few inches to spare. Your worktop would have to be remarkably low for this not to fit underneath. However, as I’ve placed mine where I have, I have decided not to use the automatic lid opening (which needs three AA batteries) — it would only end up hitting the underside of the work surface, and opening the lid of a bin by hand isn’t overly exerting. I think the auto opening is a nice feature, though, and if the bin is placed where it can be made use of, is certainly a useful addition. The top part of the bin (the part for household waste) only holds 25 litres — that’s not a huge amount so you may find that you’re walking to the dustbin slightly more often than beforebut at least that means the rubbish is out of the house. What I really like about the top half is the way that the bin liner sits nicely out of sight and is kept in place by a restraining ring. This means that the fairly sleek lines of the bin aren’t spoiled by the edge of a bin liner peeking over.
The lower half of the bin, the recycling part, is a drawer which pulls out. Again, it’s not huge, but it should be enough to hold a day or two’s recycling for an average family.
There is a lot of packaging with the bin, it comes in an outer cardboard box then three inner boxes as well as Styrofoam packaging and a few plastic bags. The bags can be made use of as bin liners, though, so they’re not entirely wasted.
Overall, I am very impressed with this bin, it looks good and does the job; and the fact that it is designed so that it fits under the worktop is a big bonus. However, it is eye-wateringly expensive for a purely functional piece of kit. Based on the item itself, five stars; if I was taking price into account I’d probably only give it three stars.
