No use for holding logs unless you get the appropriate log clamps. They were out of stock everywhere. I got blacksmith to make me a couple of extensions that screwed into the existing holes. Now holds logs firmly for cutting and its stable on a flat surface. Easy to build up and folds away easily.
I used the product for wood cutting (mainly firewood) of various sizes. Makes cutting of timber so much easie
Started a DIY project building a new wardrobe. Glad I got this as it has been my helper throughout. Just don’t know how I would have managed without this. Very strong and well built and holds everything in place. One star deducted as rubber pads for Jaws keep falling off I’ve had to resort to taping them on!!! Very frustrating as not a cheap purchase!! Dissapointed supplier hasn’t contacted me after I sent an email.. otherwise a great workhorse.
I do lots of wood chopping and crafts. I have had clamps before to hold wood but never strong enough. This is a game changer. I dont know why I never bought this years ago. I can now work alone with my wood. This clamps like a beast. I clamped a pallet in it while I used an electric saw. I bought the log jaws for my logs and now with a quick change if “grips” I can easily clamp logs and safely saw wood slices for my crafting. I have clamped wood slices to hold firmly in place while I used my burning tool. This is easy to put up / down and store away. It feels safe. Doesnt wobble. I bloody love it. If i could marry the damn thing i would.
I love this clamp. Very easy to use and store. One of my better buys.
I have used this product quite a bit now along with the recommended wood jaws clamping kit and I am very impressed with its sturdiness and ability to easily securely clamp some really quite awkward tree trunk sections. I am working alone and feel so much safer making cuts when I know the wood will not move. The clamping system is very competent at holding the wood with absolutely no movement. I wish I had bought one years ago. Also folds up for easy transportation.
I heard of this product whilst researching saw horses on a forum and I’m very glad I did! I originally purchased this, together with the optional log jaws, for sawing up felled timber but have since found that its clamping capabilities are useful for so much more. I am astonished at its holding power. I have used it for so many DIY projects in addition to using it as a saw horse and the addition of folding legs mean that it is truly portable. It is so easy to use and so powerful that I am thinking about buying a second one. Fabulous piece of kit!
I’ve added the extra tough jaws to hold logs firmly so I can cut into short lengths with a chainsaw.
So much safer, and very quick and convenient to use.
This is a fantastic tool as I am wheelchair bound I have no legs I can use this item with my hands it is the perfect tool for me it is very well made at a very good price
Just purchased my second as having two is so much better and more adaptable. MY first ne was an early one and it has been abused, left outside year round and used for everything from welding to oak framing (50 kg sections) and so forth. One of the best and most useful products I have ever used and the hands free clamping is a must! However my only niggle is the rubber for the fixed and opening jaws, these do not last long, split quickly and the fittings break. (the front fixed? one just falls off) If these could be improved they would be fantastic. I made some bespoke oak jaw liners, quick and simple to make and they take everything into the next level. Also purchased (if you can find them) the log and cast iron jaw fittings, whish are so much better made than the original poor quality rubber ones. Despite this loads of builders contractors and specifiers I deal with have bought one or more based on my use and opinions.
This thing is amazing, it’s strongly built, very well balanced and has enough jaw strength to saw through a 225x75mm piece of wood and hold a nearly 2 metre overhang. This may not be the best review ever, but this is the most useful DIY aid I’ve ever seen. Does the same job on uneven ground too, thanks to the tripod shape.
I bought this to saw logs that had been split but were too long. I tried with the standard jaws which are not good at holding uneven logs and fitted the log jaws which really did a good job. Together they held the logs steady so that I could cut them with a chain saw. I used the weight of the saw to cut through rather than pressing down as initially some of the logs moved.
So incredibly useful, like having a muscular assistant! Only used it for firewood so far – it grips tight to the middle of a log and you can cut from both ends without any fuss leaving only the centre piece to unclamp.
Incredibly useful for a one man building site like my own. The rubber in the jaws could be damaged if you didnt pay attention. Also a bit difficult to open the jaws back up again. Very portable and sturdy.
Ordered with the log clamps, to enable me to chainsaw logs without trying to hold them and cut at the same time. Great little tool which I’m sure will come in handy for many jobs. Comes fully assembled. Easy to set up and store away and very sturdy.
This item is fantastic for the money I paid, far exceeded my expectations as I was going for this based on it being somewhat cheaper than the other brand I actually wanted.
I usually go for Worx items and was disappointed when I couldn’t get their version soon enough, so I went for this instead, it disappointed at all and glad I paid less for what equates to the exact same thing, but with more clamping length. So all is great.
The back leg works great as a carry handle and once ready to use it takes about 12seconds to fully unfold and get open to what you need.
It is very well built, comes with a 3year guarantee and even if I damage it outside of this time it’s cheap enough that I can simply buy another one and say it’s paid for itself. The price of this item W orks out to 9pence a day over 3years of use within its gaurantee. That’s brilliant. So functional, has given me back a spare hand when trying to clamp up multiple layers of wood for jig making, properly satisfied. May even yet buy a second to use then as clamping trestles. Don’t wait, just get this it’ll make all the difference. Oh and it doesn’t take up a whole heap of space in the garage either.
What a fabulous product and the seller Toolstation was superb, very quick delivery, minor issue with product but the customer service is first rate especially Maria who dealt with my query within minutes and exceeded my expectations. First rate tool and company. Bought the add on log jaws to allow me to use my chainsaw to cut some logs for the fire. Cant praise this superjaws too much, well built, solid and very well designed.
….this is the best one I’ve ever bought. Seriously!
Very sturdy, holds wood like samson on steroids and a brilliant portable vice.
Example – I did some work on a very heavy fire door (converting it into a secret door with built-in shelves) and it securely held the door in any position that I wanted. I buy a lot of tools and I’m seriously impressed with this thing.
The only issue was one of the leg screws came loose but I just tightened it up and it’s fine.
Very solid, quite heavy (it needs to be) but a good workhorse. I’m impressed!
The Triton Super Jaws Sa 100E came well packed & surrounded in polythene to protect it during storage & transportation. It is easy to Fold & unfold & the back leg becomes it’s carrying handle in the folded state. In use it is very firm & stable & should you wish it has fixing holes in the feet to be bolted to the ground. It is very well designed & you can slide the back jaws out & fitting in the reverse direction allows you to fit very large items between the jaws. The fixed jaw let’s the product down (hence why 4 stars) It’s like the rest of the product was designed by an engineer & then he left the jaw design to the tea boy that just wanted to get off home. Every time you slide the back jaw out your sleeve catches the front jaw resulting in it either coming away or just plain falling out & which I can see will get worse with ware over time. It just has two straight rubber pegs that fit into the body & are not even an interference fit! Why they could have not put something with a lip on it to hold it in place beats me. You can buy a set of engineer’s jaws from Triton but these come in at half the price of the entire vice. I have posted a few pics & hope they will be helpful to anyone.
A very sturdy and well balanced piece of kit!
I’ve only used it for cutting wood and drilling at the moment, but it’s very adaptable and can grip any material.
The grip is as good as any vice I’ve used plus the fact you can walk around it while your using it.
Loved the look of it but rear leg wouldn’t lock so totally unsafe to use. Had obviously been set up by previous buyer and returned. Bought from Amazon EU. Not happy. Great product if not for senseless design flaw. Why doesn’t rear leg lock the same as front ones?……..
After advice I’ve found I hadn’t pushed the leg upwards into its “socket” before using the locking mechanism. I still feel the use of a plastic component at this point is a strange choice, a metal bolt and wingnut or similar would seem a more logical choice. Regardless, the mistake was mine and I’ve altered my rating accordingly.
Nice piece of portable kit, not a bench more a decent work stand vice, and it really does grip the work hard and the clever bit is the foot operation of the (reversible) jaws leave both hands to hold the work in exactly the right position before clamping
I’ll say it again it really does clamp the work most effectively.
I’d only give it 8/10 for stability but that’s the only downside and in all honesty without making it more clunky and heavy but it’s hard to see how you would get it to 10/10.
I’d recommend this product as great for site use and it’ll be a useful addition for some awkward jobs in the workshop too
I like that I can firmly clamp a board that I can then use as a work table at a good height eg. for marking out or assembly, and that it will hold a plank that can support a long flexible item to be sawn or drilled. Folds up for easy storage or transport – a great piece of kit.
This is a fantastic bit of kit, far superior to my workmate and takes up so little room. Strong and sturdy so i imagine will last a very long time. Have used for odd jobs of holding bits and pieces for cutting / sawing. Haven’t bought any of the specialist jaws but wouldn’t hesitate to if I was (for example) going to be cutting lots of logs up etc. Excellent bit of kit that I can fully recommend.
I spotted someone at a steam rally carving a wood figure held by one of these in a field. To be able to grip that well was something I did not think possible and it resulted in me getting one. The strength of the vice is amazing, it holds work so steady and its very quick to tighten and then to release using your foot on the leaver. Overall its very robust. The legs are strong and fold out well, although you need to make sure you have pushed them out fully when on the floor otherwise they will move. Once you have them out though its very steady. It does fold up, not something you would want to do all the time but it does save space, although its not that large and you can work around the legs much of the time when its up anyway. Having struggled with the vice on a workmate this a revelation as to what is possible and makes joinery much easier.
It was a gift to our nephew for his birthday he is very pleased with it , He works with timber quite a lot and he very pleased with it. First saw it on YouTube a lady called April Wilkerson uses one we where impressed.
It’s just a brilliant tool which makes clamping items safe and easy, plus it is very portable & easy to carry
If you order the engineers jaws make sure you order the compatable size for the super jaws
Currently using this as a saw horse. Great piece of kit. Adequately solid for bow-saw work on logs with the log clamp adapter. Foot pressure clamp mechanism is great to work with.
Excellent piece of equipment, well constructed and unlikely to rot like other main brand work benches. I have struggled with traditional work benches for years, this is much better and more versatile – would recommend.
Great bit of kit. Had a slight problem with the first one delivered, let amazon know, replacement arrived the next morning!
Strong and sturdy easy to use and folds down to take up very little space. Would buy agai
WOW! What a product. I’d never heard of these machines before, always using a workmate type of clamp. But I happened to see a video of a guy carving a metre tall owl from a tree trunk with a chainsaw. Holding this megaton chunk of forest was this bright orange machine, I just had to have one as I cut up logs and branches for my woodturning hobby. Best 73 I ever spent (Inc free delivery)
This machine is awesome, it’s dead easy to put up and take down, just seconds…with the foot operated clamp action, leaving your hands free to hold the tree trunk/front door/floor board/joist/railway sleeper etc etc. Having 3 legs the machine is ultra stable and solid. I can’t praise it enough, my 2 workmates will be going in the local sale sites as they take up lots of room, this beauty takes up a mere 30cm square of floorspace when put up on it’s end. WELL recommended!
Warehouse deal-super value? .Robust solid construction. A few small spots of rust..no worries.Absolutely delighted with product..ran it through its paces today.I cannot recommend it strongly enough.Hundreds of conceivable applications,I am also thinking of getting the steel log gripping jaws
Absolutely superb. Good, chunky construction and operates on such a simple principle. I also bought the log jaws (perfect fit) and for chainsawing logs of all different sizes it cannot be beaten. So easy and quick to use and and folds away neatly, quickly and easily. Ideal in the domestic / DIY environment and beyond. Simple, robust and sensibly priced – excellent value for such a versatile piece of equipment.
This is my second one and the change in the leaver to lock / unlock the clamp is very welcome and corrects the only fault in the previous design fault, using two together you can make a work bench or the secure base for working above ground like a raised work platform in addition to using it in its primary usages of a first class clamp which I have used this summer while cutting concrete blocks and bricks with an angle grinder with perfect ease and safety. Currently using them for a raised platform with 2 by 6 beams between them with extra height with a block secured on their side using the clamp.
A useful aid in some form in any project and would recommend this latest modified version now the locking leaver has been changed to one which is operated with ease.
