The weight of the device when i took it out of the package was enough to convince me that it was a good product. Then comes the sound and battery life; the sound is awesome. I will buy this again if i have to. The voice clarity when making a call is super good.
There is value for money. I love i
I’m very happy with this speaker. Like many people, I read a lot of reviews before I buy most things. It’s one of the joys of buying on Amazon. And I see a lot of reviews that qualify praise by saying It’s great “for the money”, or it’s great for its size.
Well, this is a fine speaker, full stop. The sound is detailed, has clarity, and the volume and bass are satisfying. I mainly play a range of rock music, progressive rock, etc The unit is robust, weighty, has a lit up battery indicator, and the battery seems to last for ages.
This speaker fits a niche in my range of portable speakers, and I’m really pleased I bought it. Highly recommended.
It’s much better than the previous version which I also owned. The connectivity to the soundcore app is an absolutely amazing touch to this newer, upgraded version.
Thank you Anker Soundcore
I really like this speaker, in fact I have two that are paired to each other along with my bluetooth turntable. Lovely sound, nice bass and decent volume. However, it suffers with distortion at the higher end of the volume scale which means having to turn off the BassUp feature and that kind of defeats the object. If it wasn’t for that this would get five stars.
Good sound quality for such a small speaker. Nice bass boost, nice voice mode for listening to podcasts. Good battery life. Did not yet managed to check how waterproof it is but does withstand rai
I bought two as a pair, works great to fill room with sound. Equalizer works well, not sure if I’d like sound without it, but can get the sound just how I like it.
Easy to use and new battery seems to be lasting a good while, so v happy about this purchase.
First impression was not good, downloaded their soundcore app and loaded a flat profile, that’s better. Bass not as silly but still high, may tweak more later. Perhaps finally a decent replacement for the old Aukey SK-S1. Almost identical in size to that, but the fabric here will probably wear quicker. Would prefer metal all around.
This speaker doesn’t seem to accept higher bitrate SBC from my PC like my cheap “Vidio” headphones can. That’s a real shame because it can make up for the high compression of SBC a bit. Unfortunately you need to pay quite a bit more for APTx and without that or the higher rate SBC it’s never going to be really “hifi”. Nor does it have aux in.
Seems to be stereo which is nice.
But for general music use, it’s great value at 40. Haven’t had long enough to speak about battery life. App lets you turn sounds off, but not down, which might be nice.
Shame the buttons are hard to distinguish!
Purchased this and the updated Soundcore 3 to compare. Set identical Custom EQ levels and played tunes with deep bass to check for distortion in the sound. Played tunes like Du Hast – Rammstien and found the sound quality and Bass response far better in the cheaper Soundcore 1 over the 3, however neither suffered distortion, just that 1 has better speakers.
If you can get this speaker on discount then this is the best one you’ll get for that price, battery lasts a long time, connects to your phone automatically after you connect once, nice and loud, works as a power bank which is a great addition, has a bass boost option that does work but not good enough for me to keep it on all the time, its not headphone level clear but once you get used to it then no complaints at all
Overall if you’re looking to get a cheaper speaker then this is most likely the best optio
Actually love this, the sound is really good, I’m well impressed
It isn’t the same as my marshall speaker but it IS 260 cheaper, fantastic purchase I wish I’d bought earlier.
Did my research as needed a small speaker for the office. Didn’t want something too loud like a sonos. Settled for this as love Anker and had great reviews. They were all right! Really good sound and deep bass when you turn the boost on. Live the quality and size, nice and compact but feels premium. Connected to my laptop and phone super easily! Love it and we’ll worth the 50. Would buy again for definite!
Do not hesitate to buy this, I’ve had a few different speakers and Bluetooth adapters from Anker. I can’t recommend them enough and this speaker for 40 is an absolute bargain. Sound quality is excellent, connection is easy to set up. Looks the part and will absolutely surprise you when you’ve got it playing. Also worth mentioning it comes 90% charged so you’re straight into usability and you can download the app to completely customise the sound settings too. Top product!!
Got a few Bluetooth speakers as well as various Amazon Echo devices. Was previously impressed by Anker Soundcore 3 that we managed to get for our daughter when it was on offer, but hadn’t seen it at this price again. Needed a new speaker as my wife keeps stealing mine and saw this one on sale. Not disappointed at all. Massive sound for the size and price. Very basey and doesn’t distort as the volume rises. Looks good and battery life so far is great. Easy connection to phone. Would recommend.
Loud and Proud. Great sound quality to my ears (but I like my music with some Bass. does lose a bit of fidelity when you turn the volume but but a great room filler.
For the size of it the sound and quality is exceptional. Real deep bass from such a small unit. Matches my much bigger, more expensive speakers, better sound amd the volume is pretty loud considering the size
Bluetooth speaker which works over Bluetooth. I love the NFC pairing feature and the UP button for extra bass.
What I don’t like is the fact that you cannot turn off the LEDs, I use the speaker at night and it’s a little bit annoying having the buttons be lit up on full power, it would be nice to have option to dimm then or turn them off completely.
4 stars because of the LEDs, otherwise works great and good sound quality.
Don’t be fooled by the size of this speaker, it has a really great sound and the Bass-Up function makes all the difference. It pairs very easily also. Great for travel and around the house, apparently its water-proof although I would be wary!
Just one thing though, it doesn’t come with an Aux Out socket so its purely Bluetooth.
Bought for Daughter & part of me regrets it.It gives out a sound far beyond it’s size & holds a charge for what seems like hours.sound quality is very good.So to sum up, its loud ,holds it charge & I can hear it clearly.like I said, bought for teenage daughter, need I say more!!!
I love my new Anker Soundcore Boost speaker. The sound is clear and the bass punchy without being overwhelming. It is not the loudest speaker by far, but it is certainly loud enough for my purposes, using it on the patio and in the garage.
The battery lasts well over 12 hours at the volumes I listen to it. It is nicely designed and I like that it wipes down easily.
A great little unit that I would purchase again!
My sister owns a JBL Flip 5 speaker – over 120 new. This performs not too far off of that, with similar specs and it was 40. Need I say more. I got this because my friend has an Anker 2 speaker and it’s going strong after 2 years still. This is better than the Anker 2 and still just 40. Honestly for the price you won’t find anything as good imo. I previously bought a JBL speaker from ebay that turned out to be a fake, so I got a refund and got this instead. Should have just started with this.
Matte black finish is very nice, buttons are instant response, bass and quality is decent, bass is even better if you press the ‘Up’ button. Using this as a perm speaker for my laptop an it’s very impressive. If you don’t have 120 quid to buy a new JBL Flip 6 speaker…just buy this. It won’t disappoint.
Its a nice little speaker for that price point, its fairly loud and works well, quality is decent, the music is clear the bass up option does give it that extra kick. Would definitely recommend. Only niggle I have with it it connects only to one device so if that device is in the vicinity it will auto connect to it.
Some one said, it depends of quality of input of the sound source and that is true.
I’ve put my cds on computer using ‘flac’ system – good as but not as heavy space taking.
That’s the best for me, and these small speakers come alive for me.
I’m no audio expert, but there is a great difference from that and having it thro a TV.
It depends on what you want – and the chose is yours – but you would get the very best…
Most reviews have overlooked the fact that the quality of sound being heard depends on the source it comes from.
iPhone SE original sounds better than my newer Acer 2020 tablet- So newer iPad and Samsung models will be beautiful sounding.
A cheap tablet- like mine does not throw out 24 bit 2 channel 192hz rate. More like 16/32hz stereo forced to mono and then listening to YouTube music at very low sample rate, which most of us do even when equalised with YouTube Music set on high quality, then wirelessly fed to the Anker Soundcore boost.
Overly heavy bass hi fi sound, it’s very loose meaning it’ll be heard in all directions as the low ends travel uncontrollably.
As the speaker doesn’t compensate for frequencies that it cannot produce causes a shift in bass level that makes some hz sound muted and lost. That may well be rectified with having 2 speakers L/R.
However, I’m guessing regular folks who bought this needn’t delve into this level of detail so for what the speaker produces it’s fantastic. A must buy for 40. A steal.
I’ve had it running over 24 hours and the sound is crisp hi end and heavy sub bass that mostly picks up detail from the landscape the artists intended. Pretty much. I mean there’s enough of it there. Even without the +bass up on.
Remember the bass is hi fi and overly exaggerated making it heavy loud and loose.
However,
I suggest buy it.
If you don’t like it? Send it back.
40 what else ya gonna buy?
Great sound from such a small speaker. Very pleased with my purchase
Been on the looks about for a while and we’ll happy with this one
I was very impressed with the quality of the sound from such a small and light speaker. Very nice
I was pleasantly surprised this is a beast of a system. Clear sound and amazing bass. Watch out for the neighbour’s complaints!!
Love this speaker brilliant sound for the price and nice bass sound too
Lovely sound, plenty of bass, plenty of volume, very happy so far with this purchase
I’m sure if you’re really in to your music, you might find fault. However to just have some music on in the background, it’s all I could ask for.
This gives superb sound quality whatever your choice of music, Opera, rock & the rest. As a music lover always had a large top of the range stereo system, fantastic, but certainly cannot be moved from room to room! This little speaker enables you to listen to a quality sound anywhere inside or outside. Well worth the money. Out of several makes & models I have tried this is the best.
The sound is great, and it feels premium as well. Perhaps a little muddy by default, but it’s possible to change the sound profile in the app.
After 2 years, the ok battery life is a little less ok, but at the same time, all lithium batteries degrade over time. I get a good playtime, but there are other Anker speakers with much better battery life.
The fabric has also started to lose its elasticity – it’s not quite as tightly wrapped as it once was. Maybe this is because it gets shoved in an already full rucksack all too often. it doesn’t effect the function regardless, it’s just slightly less premium looking.
Excellent value for the price point. I have the round compact which is great. This is more than ample as an occasional speaker and packs a good volume especially indoors. Outdoors mor than enough for a small garden party.
Fantastic little speaker the kitchen team and I love it.
Fills the room well, good sound, used for choir practice in a church fills room with good clear sound
This is a great little speaker, sound is great once you download Soundcore app and tweak the EQ. Bass really packs a lunch at lower volumes and reduces slightly when you turn the volume up.
One speaker on its own fills a small room, I bought and second and paired them together. This gives a really good room filling stereo sound. Once paired as long as you turn the original speaker on first and then the paired speaker they will connect automatically. Great speaker to take on holiday due to their compact size.
Great sound. The battery charge lasts for hours. The “UP” bass button is great for heavy music.
Easy to carry anywhere
Bass response is excellent for size, we use ours in bathroom. Ip rating seems genuine.
Battery last ages, over a month on average.
Small size, but heavy in weight and feels well made.
Recommended.
Excellent! I like it! Even i bought i 2nd for big stereo 🙂
Great value speaker, bought a few over the years and this is by far the best, sound quality is superb intact its so good I ordered another for that full surround sound.
Great sound quality and bass (which can be tweaked via an app) from a tiny speaker which can also charge your phone! Love it!
I’m not usually move to write a review but this little monster of sound deserves it! I’m quite particular and sensitive to sound quality — and the speaker has blown me away for its size and its price dot that said I also ordered a bose micro sound link As I’d heard the sound quality was 2nd to none — and it paled in comparison to this! It was returned immediately dot I have also tried the tritbit But Anker Soundcore boost wins hands down.
Many speakers are heavy on bass Which compromises for me anyway the clear crisp sound quality at my ears require — I am bass sensitive and have hearing loss in the mid to high range So often speakers sound quite muffled and not crisp enough for me. What’s brilliant about this speaker is the bass adjustment – but also the soundcore app that can be customised to set your own EQ levels. I have used the speaker in my car and indoors and the sound it produces is rich, and rounded and just a wow really! It’s completely transformed my listening experience. For this price point it’d be a good buy anyway if u get it on sale even more so – but it really is quality. I was unsure at first because it didn’t fit the space in tbe car I’d designated for it – sure it’s not cylindrical and is a bit bulky and I was going to return it because it didn’t fit – then I heard it – compared it to others I’d bought and realised what a gem it is. It’s a keeper. Go for it – you won’t regret it!!
Bought this to provide the soundtrack to my working day as a gardener. The Bluetooth signal from my quality music player to the speaker can sometimes be a bit intermittent when the range is extended, but only over 50 feet.
The sound can be heard all around a walled garden over 50m x 50m so no complaints there and the bass is great from such a small speaker.
The battery life is reduced somewhat when the bass boost is on and the volume is high, but no complaints from me.
It has also been grabbed and taken off like a toy by a large dog that left minor cosmetic damage but had no effect on anything else. so very good build quality.
I like the fact it isn’t round, like some as it doesn’t roll around it has a good grippy base too. Connects well, sounds good.
Powerful little speaker absolutely love this sound quality is brilliant through an iPhone battery life an easy 8 hours plus One tip is to have the speaker close to a wall or something solid as this will enhance the sound
Sound quality is good, nice and clear, it’s pretty loud but it’s never going to burst your ear drums, decent bass, mids are good too.. haven’t tried the app for the eq just yet but I’m sure it’ll be good too..
Plus side is it works as a power bank and its pretty much water proof, so great for camping, beach days etc..
Great little speaker with big sound! Well built and with a battery that lastssound quality is really good too although could maybe be a little crisper..but at this price point it’s a minor criticism. Well done Anker, you’ve done a great job on this one!
I have always loved Anker products from their power banks, to their Bluetooth speakers.
This speaker knocks it out of the park! It is a mini Monster of Sound!
The build quality is excellent and the fabric mesh wrap adds a classy look to the speaker.
The speaker has a good weight to it which I believe helps deliver a clear and crisp sound.
The buttons are self explanatory and easy to use.
being fully waterproof the little door on the side takes a good effort to open it letting you know it will not accidentally open if the speaker decides to take a dive in the pool.
Initially the sound right out of the box was a little tinny for me, but a quick adjustment on the Soundcore App Equalizer left me drooling over the sound quality! and when paired with my second Soundcore Boost the stereo image is absolutely outstanding! they could almost replace my Wharfdale Diamond 10’s as my house speakers!
The battery charges quickly, and last all day long, I taking it to work and fill the warehouse with super sound and then use it after work in the garden and my workshop, in a whole day of use the battery is still half full.
You will not be disappointed!
I purchased this as my old soundcore 2 has a developed a rattle, definitely not blown speaker because is I squeeze it the rattle disappears.
Anyways, this is a definite upgrade from the soundcore 2, I use Poweramp on my Samsung phone, my music is in Flac or 320kbps and the sound on it for its size is very rich, perfect for my living room, I noticed people saying the sound is muffled in other reviews, I don’t hear this and I love good audio, for 40 quid you can’t go wrong.
I’m by no means an audiophile, but this speaker is incredible! The boost option emulates a subwoofer really well, you can get all the bass without any crackle. Without the boost option, it’s still very, very loud but obviously less bass.
It’s build quality is very good, it can be thrown, dropped, splashed with water and it’ll still work just fine. The connectivity is fast and easy with quire a range to it.
This is a great little speaker. I like bass so I have the ‘bass up’ on which gives an excellent sound. It was easy to connect to a phone using its Bluetooth and the distance from the phone to speaker started to be lost at 15 metres. When charging its easy to see the status of the charge with its 4 led lights. You cannot use the speaker while it’s being charged.
It’s a long time since I had anything approaching an old-school hifi set up, so I’m no bleeding-edge audiophile. However, this little guy has exceeded all expectation. If you prefer your music on the bassy side and have a limited budget and/or space, then I can only highly recommend the Anker Soundcore Boost. It packs a punch that belies its size (it’s tiny) and easily fills a living room of average size. Reggae and hip hop sound great, if that’s your thing. Battery life is solid, Bluetooth 5 makes pairing super quick and stable and charging is pretty swift with USB C, plus you can charge other electronics, like phones from the speaker if you need to. Download the Soundcore app for custom EQ and other extras. I’ve no doubt that more expensive speakers give better all over sound, but really for under 50, you can’t go wrong with this one. Toying with the idea of getting a second one for true stereo
I bought this for a bbq party, I was unsure whether it would be loud enough for background music and it is and not at full volume. The sound was a bit flat and needed a bit of high end so I changed the EQ in the Soundcore app to include more bass and top end as using custom EQ renders the Bass Up boost button as useless, it stops working which is fine as I customised the EQ anyway to suit my preference. I’m not convinced it will last 6-8 hours, let alone the 12 but we’ll see! Overall a great looking, great sounding portable bluetooth speaker at a great price
Time will tell but I bought both this and the tribit storm box as they were the same price and I wanted to compare, the anker definitely has more bass and depth where as the tribit sounded tinnier, pros to the tribit it has linger battery life but I love my house music so had to be the anker for me. Wouldn’t have minded hearing the anker sound core 2 to compare
Can’t recommend this speaker enough! I seriously think its the best value travel speaker there is, pound for pound it really punches above what you pay for it (wait for it to be reduced, happens all the time lol). My friend has a JBL Flip 5 (which he paid 2.5x what I paid for the boost BTW) and side by side we both prefer the Soundcore.
Speaker comes well packaged in a small box with some basic paperwork (pluck ’em and fill ’em to the side) and a basic USBA to USBC charging cable (about 60cm long). You will need your own charging brick. Mine came with about 80% charge, so I could download the Soundcore app on my phone, update the speaker to the latest firmware and set a custom EQ. (I use the one from Alans reviews on YouTube, should check him out he rates this as the best speaker money can buy under 50 pounds.)
I’ll start with the feel, in the hands it really does feel like a well built bit of kit. Surprisingly dense and heavy feeling considering the form factor, but at about 600grms its nothing really to throw in the carry bag for travel. I like the weight, gives it a quality feel and with the rubber bottom it means it doesn’t rattle around when playing music. The “look” comes down to personal preference, its definitely understated compared to other speakers on the market (JBL). I like it cause it kind of has a wolf in sheep’s clothing kind of aura, could easily be a bookshelf speaker in a home library but can really pump out good music and bass for a party in a large room.
Sound is obviously the most important thing here, and again that’s something that comes down to personal preference. I love the sound for the music I listen too, as does everyone I show this speaker too, so obviously I highly recommend it. Deep bass is frankly amazing for a speaker of this size, and again I recommend you check out Alans reviews, he really goes in depth. I will be waiting for a flash sale to get a second for stereo pairing.
Just make sure you get the “upgraded version” as the original Boost didn’t have the titanium drivers and a smaller battery.
Very happy with this, our family members also have the Sony Bluetooth version… all singing & dancing but I did not want to fork out 100 for one, this on the other hand is just as good … maybe better!? Sound quality is fabulous, battery life is superb, partner takes it to work and it plays nearly 7 hours a day, goes 2 days before it hits half, that’s good going!
It will be lovely to take this to our beach holiday this month!
I use this for gardening, decorating work and taking away on holiday. For something so small (the size of a water bottle), it can output music with such depth and vibrance, it really is quite impressive. The battery seems to last an eternity, it connects instantly to anything bluetooth that I’ve tried and I’ve been hugely impressed with the sound quality.
I’ve also, truth be told, treated it quite poorly. It has been dropped from a head-height onto concrete floors multiple times, it has gotten wet, it has been covered in dust and paint – but it soldiers on completely unaffected. What a superb thing it is too.
I originally ordered the Soundcore. After all the glowing reviews of this I expected it to be great. However, it was awful. I’d say it was not far off listening to music using your phone speaker. So I returned it and bought this instead.
This is so much better, it doesn’t even compare. The quality is great. Some reviews mentioned a muddy sound but I don’t pick up on this whatsoever. Treble and middle are clear, and the bass UP feature is brilliant, esp for dance music or music with electronic elements. It also plays audiobooks without cutting off the start of sentences like some speakers do.
Don’t bother with the Soundcore or Soundcore 2, get the boost instead, especially now it’s been upgraded to be fully waterproof. You don’t regret it.
Really impressed with this. It’s small, to the point where I was a bit worried that I’d bought a duffer but don’t let it fool you as the sound is very good. It’s easy to connect (I didn’t read the instructions, but to be honest I’m not sure the diagrams would’ve helped much) but it packs a big punch in the bass and the treble sounds are clean. It’s nicely balanced at the quiet range, even with the BassUp activated, and holds together well when the volume is turned up. It’s not good enough for a packed garden party under the Heathrow flight path, but perfect for background to chat or for chilling. I can’t comment on the battery life, but looks like very good value for money.
I loved this little Bluetooth speaker. It’s sound quality was great, battery life excellent, and you could also charge your phone off it, making it extra useful on the go.
I found the sound quality comparable to much more expensive branded speakers at the time which makes me think it’s best to stick with anker with my replacement.
POSITIVES
Well built
Feels high quality
Very compact
Good bass at 20-30%
NEGATIVES
Can’t handle bass past 30% and bass becomes really distorted
-Recommend using soundcore app for equaliser
-If you slide bass down to ‘0’ on equaliser it can go a bit louder, but…
-If you are bass mad like me, would defo advise to get anker soundcore motion plus or motion boom instead
As other reviewers have noted, this is not a replacement for a hi-fi system, but it does a very good job in terms of what I was looking for, which was mainly as a means of playing music from my own collection as an alternative to listening to the radio, and I get better sound quality from it (not to speak of much more volume if I want it) than I do from my portable digital radio. It proved very easy to set up (pairing it to my phone, where I’d copied a substantial proportion of my digital music collection to its SD card) and I then tried it out with the 1812 overture – a test of range and dynamics it readily passed to my satisfaction. I mainly use the speaker in my sitting room, but it’s an added bonus that I can easily carry it to another room if I want to listen there.
This performs like a speaker at a much higher price point (I paid 40). The sound quality is excellent, crisp and rich and the boost does actually work! The battery lasts for days on a full charge and it charges pretty fast. And like all Anker products, the speaker itself feels solid and well made. Connects instantly most of the time. If you’re not a hardcore audiofile or don’t want to pay more than you need to for a great sounding Bluetooth speaker, I’d highly recommend the Anker Soundcore Boost.
Really liking this speaker…
Sounds really nice and with the bass up turned on, it sounds a little like a subwoofer is attached…
Granted, it does sound a little muffled with bass up turned on but my primary reason for getting this speaker was for the ‘bass up’ bit….
Is for the dance tunes I play….
Turn bass up off and it’s a decent mid range/affordable speaker in it’s own right….
( at night when I get home from my pub job I can’t play my music on my main stereo ( Denon M37DAB paired with Wharfdale Dimond 9.1’s) so this speaker placed furthest from the neighbour’s, in my kitchen….will do the job nicely )
Thanks Anker, for making a nice little, budget friendly speaker….
Though I feel the neighbour’s may still complain…
( not directly your fault, more mine as to the volume settings I choose )
Will see…
Nice speaker!
Really pleased with this – super bass tone with no distortion. Read the reviews as I always do & decided that 39.99 wasn’t too much to risk. The sound is actually better & more rounded than the Bose sound link mini that I had which cost more than 3 times as much! I can’t comment on the battery life as it hasn’t been tested long enough but looking good so far.
I’ve tried a few speakers now to connect to my Anker nebular capsule but this is the best sounding value so far and the app is great.
Bass and top end is really good and EQ also works very well.
So good infact I bought another straight away for TWS feature.
update: Tried TWS feature last night, works very well, no noticable latency.
Highly recommended.
Living in a small flat with thin walls, I wanted a stereo speaker system, possibly wireless, primarily as a home theatre for a screen projector. Without these opowerful bass units that would be a nuisance for my neighbours.
So, I got a pair of these speakers, and use it in stereo, positioned at the 2 corners of the big screen. Boom. Incredible sound, at moderate volume. Bass boost works well. Midrange is excellent for movie voice. Wow.
The only negative point is, in this modality, you can’t manouvre the volume remotely. Fine. I have found a volume level that works for my movie nights and tend not to change it.
Compared to a Bose mini sound, one single speaker of this product has inferiorior sound quality for sure. But for less than half the price I got myself 2 stereo speakers, not just one. Satisfied so far.
My word, the reviews don’t give this enough credit. Huge sound from this little speaker system. I’ve not needed to use the extra bass yet either.
I’ve only the one just now, but thinking of getting a second to link and use elsewhere in the house.
I’m using this in the kitchen and it’s plenty loud, quality sound a higher volume too.
10 out of 10 from me.
I got this together with a Bluetooth transmitter so as I could start to listen to music wherever I wanted to in the house. Family were getting a bit fed up of me having the hi-fi on loud so as I could listen in the kitchen whilst cooking for example.
We’ve such a large music collection on CD and Vinyl such that converting it all to MP3 would be time (or cost) prohibitive so best solution was to get the Hi-Fi to talk wirelessly to a set of remote speakers. Enter these Anker Soundcore Boost set.
Definately mission accomplished and I’ve not looked back since. They’ve allowed me to listen to any of our music collection anywhere in the house – kitchen, bedroom, office room, celler workshop, all are within range. Sound quality is excellent and at times I think better than the main living room speakers (but then they are getting very, very long in the tooth!!).
The only downside for me are the control buttons. These have to be the most unpositive buttons I’ve ever come across. You don’t get any tactile feeling that the button has been pressed until the unit has responded, and that has the usual delay in it! Then there’s the switch-on and switch-off ‘tune’ that it insists on playing very loudly. That has become a tad annoying to say the least.
Having said that, for a bit of kit that was nowhere the top of the price range available in the marketplace I’m more than impressed with it’s overall performance.
My mum uses this with her new 4K LG TV so that she can have the audio from the TV on the table next to her rather than having the TV turned up loud from across the room (she’s hard of hearing). Once I’d sorted the lip-sync issues settings in the TV itself, it’s been great.
The only gripe (hence 4 stars), is that the buttons on the unit are practically the same matt colour as the unit itself so they’re very hard to see which one is which, you just have to learn them!
I cannot believe how much sound technology has improved. The joy you will get from this speaker far outweights its price. You will have yo pay a lot more to get a small improvement. You just cant go wrong with this and there is no chance of disappointment. Now I have great sound wherever I go in a small and portable package. And due to its price I can relax if it gets stolen or breaks. Yay to technology improving life!
Really impressed with this speaker. The sound is loud and punchy with plenty of bass range audible. The strong bass doesn’t appear to be at the expense of bright tops and the sound rarely gets muddy. In general use the battery lasts really well. Bluetooth connectivity is a breeze and have had no connection issues with this speaker.
I bought this Upgraded, Anker Soundcore Boost Bluetooth Speaker because I like to hear the bass sounds in my music and it hasn’t dissapointed. If, like me you have an equaliser built into your smartphone or tablet then I suggest you turn off the equaliser in this unit using the App (set it to custom with a flat line). My music tracks are ripped at 320kbs and sound great. This speaker isn’t Mission or Wharfedale quality but is superb for the money and its size. You can also set it to turn off automatically (using the App) and I’ve got it set to 5 mins to save on the battery which does seem to last for ever!
After reading a LOT of reviews, I went for this. I use it to listen to the radio – primarily – so a mix of talking and music and I am so pleased with the quality of sound on both. Not too bassy and not at all tinny. The anker app allows you to change the balance if you so wish so you can adapt to the type of sound you are using it for. Battery life is amazing – I’ve not used it to charge my phone which will obviously impact the longevity of audio playback but I really appreciate having that feature as a back up when out and about.
As someone who likes to “feel” the music even at low volume, I am very happy with this speaker.
I have a few of the new amazon echo speakers in a sphere shape and would say it sounds just as good
Battery life on this is very good! I’ve been using this for two days on and off for at least 4 hrs now whilst camping, listening to music at about 40% with the bass all the way up and still shows all four lights on.
This is perfect for camping as it is plenty loud enough and would very easily be too loud but also unlike some speakers goes very quiet if you want to leave it on to fall asleep with.
Love that it’s waterproof so if it’s caught in the rain or spills etc don’t matter.
Size is perfect and feels really good quality, much better than the plastic Sony has been using the past few years.
The app is great to adjust the EQ and change the auto off timer etc. Does just enough without being complicated.
Would definitely buy another one of these.
Read a few comments about the sound quality, first thing I did was played with the customisable EQ setting and got a very good sound field. The bass, mids and highs are all there and the volume is more than I’ll ever need. The blue tooth connection is very good (10 meters at a push) and the battery life lasts longer than I do.
Brilliant speaker, nice size and the sound that comes out of it is fantastic. I saw some reviews about the sound being a bit muffled but I can’t hear that. It’s crisp and clean and when you press the Bass button it’s like someone has brought a boom box to the party!!
Quite heavy for the size but imagine there’s quite a lot of tech packed in for the power it pushes out!
I bought this for my son, but was tempted to nick it off him and swap for my Doss Soundbox. The Doss is really good, for about half the price, but this Anker Soundcore Boost is definitely next level.
Haven’t really got a guide on Battery Life yet so can’t comment.
Wanted a solid, larger speaker to replace my JBL Go and this is a massive improvement. The sound and bass out of this little box is nothing short of magic. USB-C charging is a great future-proofer compared to MINI-USB alternatives. Also appreciate the lights to indicate power (and amazing battery life) plus easy to use NFC pairing.
This really is an unbelievable piece of kit and I couldn’t recommend it higher. I’d even consider buying one or two more for other rooms of the house. Side note:these can even be linked to play the same audio!
After wasting money on many other portable audio devices, I have concluded that Anker Soundcore is a name I can trust. The Soundcore Boost is an incredible speaker for its size – second only to the Soundcore Motion+ which is a lot bigger and less portable. Both are great speakers which easily beat others of a comparable price.
The Boost has a well rounded sound with a pronounced and punchy bass. Having heard many bluetooth speakers, some costing twice the price of the Boost, I can honestly say that nothing comes near it in terms of sound quality for its size.
Battery life and bluetooth connectivity are also excellent, but the main thing for me is the great sound quality. Thoroughly recommended.
TARDIS – Its small on the outside but HUUUGE on the inside/performance!
We bought this to use in the family bathroom blue-toothing off iPhones and wasn’t expecting such a massive sound output and bass from such a small device.
There are lots of devices out there but for us, this is 100% for size, weight, battery life, connectivity and a huge sound and bass performance.
Build quality is excellent and reassuringly heavy.
Sound is tight, decently loud and not bad at all for such small tweeters. The bass boost, depending on source material is decent but can drown out the mids on some other songs, making it sound muddy.
Call quality (if ever used for that) is not bad!
It’s supposedly waterproof but I haven’t tested this out but definitely a plus point. Doesn’t have a dust rating though so how good would it be on the beach after a while, I’m not sure.
Battery life is great!
Well, I bought that particular speaker due to it’s ability to be used as a power bank to charge my phone. It *does* charge using IQ power, which will charge a device faster than a regular charger. My big issue, and it may be a minor one for some, is that they actual speaker needs to be powered on for it to charge a device! I have another Anker power bank and there is no ‘on’ button for that so I’m not sure they went with that design. So, it’s a hassle if your phone is paired to it and someone comes alone to power their phone, you start streaming sound to the power bank, which may be a surprise!
Another bug I found was that for Windows 10, you cannot control the volume of the speaker from your laptop, zero volume on the laptop mutes the speaker but anything about that just sets it at the previous volume set on the physical unit itself.
I’d recommend this speaker in any case as the pros definitely outweigh the cons.
Bought this Anker Bluetooth speaker on Prime Day which made it even more of a bargain. Given its size, the sound quality is astounding! Compared to my previous speaker, only slightly smaller, and with what I thought was good sound, this is simply amazing. I couldn’t believe the bass from such a small box – and it’s not just the bass, (that on its own is not everything) but it’s also the mid-range, the top end, too. I’m hearing details I just couldn’t have got from my previous kit. It connects easily, too, and overall is superb.
I purchased this after contemplating which bluetooth speaker to add to my growing collection. This came in at the right balance of sound output, battery life and price. 20watts of sound is great, and is surprisingly loud from a small wireless speaker…plus this can act as a battery bank for your phone in a pinch. Just don’t expect the greatest sound quality from this…don’t get me wrong, it’s decent, but it’s not going to be simulating some Dolby 5.1 or Atmos setups…that’s not this product.
Saying that, there’s little distortion as the volume increases, and the bass up mode really does kick the bass up a notch (but not to the same level as a set of Beats headphones would go to)…music is clear and this is ideal for a barbecue or when the kids are in the paddling pool.
This Bluetooth speaker has a better sound output quality than speakers two or three times the price. The build quality from what I can see is better than most others and had a definite feel of quality and robustness about it. It is a pity that this model does not support the ability to have two connected to the same sauce for stereo listening. If it did it would be awesome. The base boost is great cannot fault it at all for the price. Don’t take my word for it try it for yourself you will not be disappointed.
Really pleased with this! The sound is really good, with and without the extra bass. Connects easily to the Bluetooth and so far no issues with connectivity. Haven’t had it long enough to fully test the battery life but it seems fine so far. Just really pleased with the sound, clear and can be turned up loud and not start crackling or losing quality. Really good for the price. Recommended
This speaker has been a trusty companion for two and a half year now. It has accompanied us to countless trips and picnics. The last year it has been the designated jacuzzi speaker and it absolutely rocks.
The reason I’m writing this review now is that last night after a drunken night it ended up on the bottom of the jacuzzi overnight, but today it miraculously still works.
I’ve been saying it even before this, that if it were to break, I would get a new one straight away.
The sound is decent, it’s loud enough for my usage but obviously not as good as a portable speaker for 4 times the money (I own both Denon and Marshall speakers as well). If you’re into amazing sound quality you’re probably not looking at budget bluetooth speakers anyway.
The battery life is great, and if you want to be out and about it’s easy enough to bring a spare usb battery to keep the music going.
To sum it up, I highly recommend this speaker for its build quality, battery life and price.
I have had this unit 23 months now.
Pros:
Portable but very good quality sound, plenty loud enough.
Easy to connect and has an aux in for older inputs.
I recently bought 3 more larger speakers and this one was better than 2 of them so it is great quality even at a higher price.
Cons:
The battery after 2 years is really poor. It initially may have lasted 12 hours or something. I think now it might be lasting closer to 3 hours.
Overall, a great product just a short shelf life
Whoever said that “BOSE” were the best in sound, step aside please because this little beauty pumps out some quality sound.
My friend came in the other day and I had this unit playing, and he asked where my speakers were, as he was impressed with the sound it was producing. This Bluetooth was just sitting under the T.V in the shelved unit and obviously their were no cables, I just handed this “ANKER Unit to him and he said “NO WAY!” so he took pictures of it, and started forwarding to friends who would be interested in this unit!! He was blown away with the quality of sound, the Bass it pumps out, the clarity, no distortion, 12hr playing time and about an hour to fully charge as it has a 4 dot display at to how long the life it has left!!
It also has a USB output and a USB lead to connect to power up.
And finally totally Impressed with the price for what you are getting!!
Thank you!!!
This is a cracking wee speaker. We bought to use primarily whilst we are in the hot tub as we struggle to hear our music over the noise of the tub. Works a dream for that purpose but has come into its own as a means of amplifying sound whilst my partner watches sport in the garden with friends. Sound quality is superb, Bluetooth connection seamless, and the battery life is outstanding. Could not be without our Anker Bluetooth speaker now and already a couple of friends have bought one of the back off being so impressed with it in our garden! Very impressed.
The speaker has a nice quality feel with a solidity to it that doesn’t detract from it’s portability. The Bluetooth connection is instant and never drops out. The sound for a small speaker is great, giving quite a rich, full sound that easily fills a small home and is good enough for outside if you don’t have to compete with external noise. The only thing that seems less than perfect is the battery life but that’s probably just because I’ve been spoiled with the original Soundcore I’ve had for the last three years as that seemed to go weeks between charges where as this one needs to be charged after a days full use, although to be fair that is in line with the stated life so I don’t take any points off for it.
Sounds surprisingly good.
I use this at night because I like music while I’m sleeping. Because of this I have it very quiet. The bass boost comes in very useful as sound needs more bass when at low level.
Neat package, easily operated.
Bluetooth connected flawlessly and easily.
I would recommend.
This little speaker is great. I was sceptical as the price was so good and usually you get what you pay for, but I was wrong! This sounds great. I actually compared it to the Bose Soundlink Mini II (playing the same song) and the Anker is even better in my opinion. I used the Soundcore app to adjust the EQ to my liking (I prefer a crisper sound, so heightened the top end slightly) and it really sounds great. Bass boost is also a really nice addition – quite powerful at low- mid levels (although a little lost at full volume but that’s to be expected with such a small speaker). Overall, very impressed and delivers a sound comparable to more expensive brands.
After using the original Anker Soundcore since 2017 (still going without flaw after drink spills, multiple trips through airports, left outside in the rain, multiple festivals), I decided to treat myself and upgrade to the Boost model. I purchased this nearly a year ago and it’s still going strong as ever. The Bass Up button is a great function, as a bassist, I found it very helpful it turning up the low end to hear a lot clearer what rhythm is being played. Also great for any big beat dance music.
Like it’s predecessor, it’s been out in the rain, had drinks spill on it and gone through all the damage a year of partying could do to it and still remains as perfect as ever.
It’s battery life is phenomenonal too. I often leave it on overnight to have music to sleep to and it’s rarely been dead when I awake in the morning. It charges via USB port, the same as older android models which is incredibly handy. While I have not tested the powerbank function it also has, it seems to work from when I’ve tried it and would be a life-saver for when festivals return. It’s lightweight and easily transportable too.
Overall, it’s an amazing product, especially for the price. It’s great at loud volumes and doesn’t lose any most quiet volumes (does get very fuzzy and beepy at incredibly low volumes). Unlike its predecessor it doesn’t have the excessively loud low battery beeping noises which is a vast improvement. I have and would recommend this to anyone looking for a speaker.
I’d been meaning to buy one of these speakers for ages and this popped up with a discount so I thought I’d go for it.
Paid the extra for the newer bigger model and to be fair its pretty good.
Sometimes the preset EQ is a fair bit off and things have too much bass and aren’t very clear to hear vocal/voice.
Battery so far seems pretty good but haven’t tested it from full to empty.
Its surprisingly loud for a small speaker and pairs very well with all the Bluetooth devices I’ve tried it with and with no audio lag!
I bought the higher spec system because of reviews of the older products and I am glad I did. The ability to play sound from a phone or tablet is fabulous. I remember we were on holidays and huddled around the tablet as we watched the Euros or World Cup football, trying to stay quiet and focussed on the football. I wished that I had an external speaker. I also used the speaker this year when SCD was on TV and I was in the kitchen cooking or washing up – with one eye on the tablet and the speaker blasting out all the fabulous music. It is so easy to pair with a mobile device that our CD stereo system is sitting underused in the bookcase and the speaker and iPod/tablet/mobile phone is perched in front of it! The quality of the sound, including the all-important bass is fabulous. I dithered so long before I got this – I wish I hadn’t. So, what is keeping you!
I bought this speaker in mid November, I loved the sound & the ability to have extra bass. BUT every morning I had to reconnect the speaker to my tablet, once connected worked fine until the next day then same problem.
I contacted Anker’s customer service, they asked me to try a few things, which I did but no improvement.
They then asked me to return the speaker & they would refund postage & once speaker returned would send replacement. I returned the faulty speaker on a Friday, sent them info as to cost & tracking. Monday I received the postage refund. I then received my new speaker on the Friday. Throughout the return process I dealt with the same person who couldn’t have been more helpful. The new speaker is working perfectly & I love it. The final part to the return saga is I received an email a few days ago checking as to whether the replacement is fine. Anker customer service is second to none & they really do fix any problems quickly & without fuss
Well made, easy to use, good connectivity and good sound for a low cost portable bluetooth speaker. I have spent much more in the past for similar items that have been no better, in fact my last Bose packed up and died after less than two years and cost nearly 3 times as much. I suppose durability and longevity are the only unknown elements for me to date……fingers crossed .
Firstly main main criteria was sound quality and for that it’s fantastic. I honestly don’t think you’d get better for the money so happy there.
Build quality also excellent, really solid and neat. Cover for connection points fits better than most though sticking it as it does, it appears you haven’t closed it properly.
My only frustrations have been
1) no 3.5mm aux in. This was my fault, I just assumed it had one but it doesn’t and I prefer the ability to hard-wire to get best sound quality when you can. My fault for not checking before buying.
2) Controls on top of unit. Power button is back-lit but others aren’t and although there are few of them I don’t find myself having to tilt the unit constantly to ensure i’m using the right one, so having them backlit also would be big improvement I think.
Otherwise top-notch and great value.
Fanatic speaker especially now it’s the 2nd Gen and you have a equaliser now that you control via an anker app, which is a great advantage if you listening to different music and audio etc. The sound is very good and has a great volume (easily fills a lounge etc) I will use it for party’s etc as well.
Sound Quality – I was very impressed with the sound quality. Many times I’ve bought random cheap speaker for holidays but this speaker has excellent Bass and clarity.
Battery Life – This is where it falls down for me. Battery lasted several days of using in the morning. Then I noticed it required regular charging over the space of a year. It is now always connected to the power but has recently stopped charging and powering up altogether. 3 years of owning.
It’s a sealed unit so I guess I’ll need a new speaker. Poor for 60 in my opinion.
Bluetooth Connectivity – up to 20m through solid stone walls. The option to connect to another speaker and link them. (Not tried)
Overall – My first decent portable speaker!
I would recommend it because of it quality sound and up scaling Bass. Seal unit so good in sand conditions. Ok price.
Downfall is battery life. 3 years and it’s unusable.
