The color screen and audio indication were a nice touch, as well as telling where there is wiring. The cross line laser measuring has multiple settings, and It calibrated itself without touching where the stud is.

Quite an impressive tool and very easy to use.
The instructions are also easy to understand.
About the accuracy: I have tested and double-checked and it seems to be quite accurate. Checked a lot of cables, and studs in the house.

This tool includes a lot of valuable tools in one. I haven’t used this a ton of times yet, but in playing around so far, the accuracy of the laser tape measure is within a .25 inch, which is reasonable based on the attempt to measure the same exact spot across any distance. No complaints thus far. I’ll come back to update my review if anything changes my opinion.

For the past 6 years, I’ve been using my reliable and simple to use wall stud finder but the rubber coating is starting to get sticky from the heat.

I decided to upgrade to this new stud finder and laser guide. So honestly, after using it for a day, I think it might be better to get 2 separate devices. One stud finder and one laser guide. Using a 2 in 1 device makes it more cumbersome. I find that there are too many buttons to press and it gets confusing. As a DIYer, I don’t use the device often enough to remember the settings. Every time I take out the device to use, I realize that I’ve to also read the manual which is not efficient.

So overall, although the device is great and has a solid construction, I would have preferred to have 2 separate devices for easier usage.

2 separate devices might be better.

My husband and I are not handy people so I don’t think we will ever use many of the features of this device but I can attest to how easy it is to use! I got this to help with finding studs so we can hang some pictures and it does that job with ease.
I love the voice instructions and the visuals to show what we are looking for. It is great at picking up both wood and metal! Super handy tool to have, even if you aren’t the handiest person.

This is a well designed pocket sized unit. Easy to switch between modes and it does work well at finding metal/wires and detecting wooden joists. It has a nice colour screen with all the info and units you need,
The laser measure function is very accurate and can also be used to calculate angles and volume.
The laser level is also very good. the device has a standard tripod threaded insert on the underside so you can mount it for more accurate readings/levels. You can also save your measurements on the device.
    Very good bit of kit.

This is a multimeter, with lots of functionality. It includes a stud meter, laser distance measure and laser plumb line, amongst others. You will see from the video how some of these features work, it’s fairly self explanatory. What I really do like about this though is it’s simple design. One big button for each type of measurent required and single press functionality. The spoken commands are also very helpful.

It is accurate in use and I have checked the laser measures against another one I have and they were consistent.

Overall a great and useful tool to have that combines multiple devices into one compact and well functioning unit. I can thoroughly recommend this.

Lots of features and well designed

This is a really nice piece of kit. I’ve been using it mostly for locating wall studs and power cables in the walls of a cabin – although I have all the measurements it’s been very useful for confirming they are where I thought they were! Detection for wood or metal can be selected, and the device also alerts you when a screw or nail is found.

The display is, for me, what sets this device apart from other much cheaper ones I’ve used – it shows when you’re approaching a stud, and indicates when you’re centred over it with a red arrow. It also displays messages to slow down your movement if needed, and other useful information. When detecting metal (e.g. water pipes), it also indicates if it’s magnetic or not, and whether it’d detected any electrical power in a buried cable.

I’ve not used the laser levelling feature, and the measurements are virtually identical to those from a much more expensive laser measure.

Very impressed and, though the price is a little steep currently, it’s a versatile device.

I compared the accuracy of the laser measure to my other goto laser measure, and it is dead on. I did the same with my fancy shmancy auto-leveling laser system, and it is right on the money there, too (see video).

For an all-in-one unit, this is pretty doggone nice!

    Pros:
    – Accurate
    – Easy to use
    – Voice read out, so you don’t have to look at the display
    – It’s rechargeable, so no batteries to change or leak
    – Don’t have to buy/use separate devices to mark a picture hanger, etc. One device does the whole job.

    Cons:
    – Does not remember previous stud finding setting (e.g. ‘wood’). Always comes on to ‘metal’.
    – Laser measure will not switch unit format – e.g. fractional feet, decimal feet, fractional inch only, decimal inch only, etc.
    – Have to go through the menu to get to a lot of the features.

    Definitely recommend it.

The device options and scanner blew me away. I love this device so much to be able to see where are the pipes, wood and wires behind the wall.

Also, the device comes with a voice for measuring and other things.

The battery is rechargeable and doesn’t have the option to change the battery.

The price at the time of review is 69.99 which I believe is expensive but I still give it five stars as I`m very impressed of this device.

Great and nifty tool to use. Super easy to read and understand, and the accuracy was much better then I expected. If you are needing precise measurements then this might not be the tool for you but in my line of work general measurements are perfectly fine but like i mentioned the accuracy of the tools is pretty spot on.

I find this tool to be a really useful piece of equipment for when I occasionally do some DIY.

Being a 3-in-1 tool it saves space in the toolbox and is very convenient compared to having 3 individual items in use. There is a certain amount of learning required with regard to the functions of this tool, but the decent manual will guide you through all of this.

As well as a pretty good screen with visual indicators, there is also audio to let you know if you are near cables and so on. The ‘voice’ is a little grating though I find, and can be turned off if required.

With regard to accuracy, this tool does seem to be reliable. I know where my electric cables, pipes and studwork run in my property, and the machine picked them up pretty well.

All in all, I think this tool is a worthwhile investment. I do not know if it is suitable for a professional, but for me as a DIYer it is a very welcome addition to my toolbox. The fact it uses a rechargeable battery is a bonus since I do not have to worry if I have any lying around. It also is supplied with a neat pouch for storage that can be mounted onto a belt if desired.

Although I have individual tools that offer the same functions as this little 3-in-1 device from UTINOS has, I thought it would be handy to have them all in a single device.

The UTINOS multi-function tool has a built in laser distance measuring function, a cross line laser level and a stud finder feature.

The device is a really nice and compact size at just 13.5cm in length x 6cm in width and just 2.3cm in depth. It is also nice and light weight, but its plastic body still manages to feel nice and sturdy.

In the middle of the front face is a fairly small coloured LCD screen that still manages to be large enough that you can easily read the display and on either end of the screen are the buttons that control the various functions. Above the screen is a row of 3 buttons (one to activate the cross line level, one to access the laser distance measurer and take readings and next to this is the menu button. A 4th button is located just above this row and is used to delete readings and can be held down to power off the device.
Below the screen is a second row of 3 buttons and these are for the stud detection mode (1 button to set wood scanning, one to turn on the detector and the last one to select the metal scanning.

The lasers are located along the bottom edge of the device and a USB-C charging port and a centre marker can be found on the top edge.
A standard tripod mount is fitted to the underside.

    ***** In The Box *****

    1 x 3-In-1 Measuring Instrument
    1 x Carry Strap
    1 x USB-C Charging Cable
    1 x Storage Pouch
    1 x User Guide

    ***** Conclusion *****

Although I really like the compact design of the product and it seems fairly accurate when using all of the different modes available, I do find that the distance measurer needs a bit of faffing around to use, when compared to my standalone one. For example, if you want to add or subtract measurements, there is no dedicated button and you need to go into the menu each time you want to add or subtract which can be really annoying if you have several readings to take.
The device will also read aloud your measurements which sounds like a handy feature, but soon ended up turning it off.

The stud detector works pretty well and shows the centre of studs, making it a really handy tool for making sure you get a good fixing when hanging things and it can also detect other objects, helping you to avoid hidden pipes and electrical cables.

The cross line generator also works better than I expected and although it doesn’t self-level, it does have a handy digital level built in to make it easier to level on a tripod.

Having a built in rechargeable battery is also really useful, as it saves having to hunt around for 9v batteries.

So if you do not have any tools that cover these features, then it is definitely an option worth considering, but should you particularly want it for the distance measure tool (which is the one I use the most), I would personally go for a dedicated product.

Very very impressive very easy to use.
Instruction user manual is thick but it mainly filled with With languages however the instructions are simple are very easy to follow and help get the best out of you all detector which it self is very easy to use.
I double checked the measurements and they are spot on brilliant
I also check for metal/cables and wood and again very good I like how the signal gets strong asking as you move slowly.
Usb cable is not the longest but it’s nice not having to look for batteries
Very impressive finder even at the high price point 70 but I like being safe very happy
It even has a screw on the back do you can use in a tripod for measurements

    Nice size

Even though this is on the smaller size, being about 135mm long 60mm, wide and 25mm thick it is remarkably useful in what it does.
It’s controlled by the few buttons on the front, with the instruction booklet explaining what’s what without any confusion.
It has a small, yet easily readable screen, 1.8in (approx. 25mm by 35mm,) which shows you everything you need to know, and it’s backed up by an audible beep when it’s picked up something.
It scans up to 100mm into the wall, checking for most things you’d expect to find there. Metal pipes, wooden studs and, most importantly, live wires. Letting you choose what to look for at the press of a button and showing you where it is by the flashing of a line on the screen and a beep noise which becomes more rapid the closer the unit get to what it’s searching for.
But it’s not just for checking your walls to see what’s hiding in there, it’s also a laser measure, measuring up to 40metres, and a cross lone laser, horizontal and vertical red lines to mark true lines across long distances.
The good thing about this unit is that it’s rechargeable, using the USB lead in the box, which means you don’t have to keep changing the batteries.
Plus, it comes with a cloth case and a wrist strap, which is nice.
In all, a cracking little tool for most measuring jobs out there. A triple tool in the palm of your hand.

It may be small but it's got a big hea

There are a lot of products that get described as “3 in 1” and so on, but this device really does feel like three distinct DIY devices within the same small box, and as such it really does work hard to justify its place as an essential in any DIY kit, even a small one.

The way you have to turn it over to ‘switch’ from one device to another really adds to that, and it’s strangely endearing. The button layout is symmetrical so in a way it was probably an unnecessary bit of design that adds buttons (and in turn cost), but the fact it means the buttons can be correctly labelled for each of the two main operations turns out to be rather handy.

The screen is nice and clear and easy to read, yes it does look a bit like an old-fashioned smartphone but the numbers are expressed quite large, which is want I want when I’m flustered doing DIY and trying to hold something up at the same time.

All three of the functions are really intuitive to use, which I tested by trying them out without reading the manual first, and I didn’t hit any problems. The menu options for selecting units and doing more complex measurements are slightly less obvious initially, but I worked it out with the manual without too much head-scratching, and you shouldn’t need to delve into those menus too often anyway.

The stud finding aspect is the main event of course, and in our relatively new house that we moved into not that long ago, it’s been fascinating to run it along some walls and find some slightly unexpected design decisions, and some cables that do seem to be going in inexplicable directions. However the results are solidly repeatable and convincing, and basic tests like holding it up against something which is obviously metal and hearing the device say “metal! Metal!” assures me that it’s doing a decent job of detecting. I haven’t had to drill into anything and take its word for it yet, but when the time comes, I’ll be confident with it.

The laser line is bright and clear, and the X and Y orientation figures displaying on the screen at the same time allows it to also double as a two-way inclinometer as well, with an accuracy of a tenth of a degree. It also detects slight wobbles as it goes, sensitive enough that if I leave it on my desk while I type, the vibration of my typing can nudge it slightly.

The distance measurer seems accurate as far as I can tell, with a bright red dot light that allows you to be nicely precise about what it is you’re actually measuring to. The ease of being able to look back at previous measurements is very handy too, so if you’re up a ladder wanting to get three or four measurements, you can confidently just measure them all, go down the ladder, then use the back button to recall the previous measurements. No need to have an assistant to shout numbers at any more! (Not that I had one of those anyway)

An internal battery of 300mAh (under a tenth of a smartphone) might not seem like much but since that battery has to do much less than a smartphone battery (no WiFi or bluetooth or anything like that), it should be more than adequate for a day’s work. It’s great that the device is rechargeable through a standard USB-C socket as well, which is really convenient and means that on longer jobs away from power, taking a simple power bank along with you will give you many times the battery lifespan on the device.

The accessories are simple, but the pouch is always a welcome addition, though it’s a little on the tight side and doesn’t allow you to store the USB-C cable as well. No great hardship though as I’ve usually got plenty of those to hand anyway. Plastic-free outer packaging is another welcome touch as well.

I’m really pleased with this device, one of the most appropriate uses I’ve ever seen of a marketing phrase like “3 in 1”.

I’ve tried so many of these types of stud finders and I honestly was not expecting too much. Right out of the box this little guy worked perfectly. I took it out, turned it on and went to any way, I couldn’t believe how easy it was to glide on the wall and it immediately found “wires” and “nails”. All of the other stud finders I’ve owned like this one I had to press so hard on the wall that it would leave a mark on the wall, not with this one. You just lay it lightly on the wall glide and it finds wires studs even nails in the stud. This is now my new favorite tool.

What a good combination of laser level and stud finder, I found them to be most useful together. I used this today to put up wire racks in the kitchen. The house is a bit of a mess when it comes to wiring, even the lights are on two separate loops and there are water pipes in the kitchen wall for some reason so being able to make sure there are no energised wires where I drill is fantastic. I tested on areas I knew had them first and it alerted me each time. The stud finder is going to be so handy when fitting the rest of the lights, the new fittings are heavy and need proper joists, last one we did we had to keep knocking the ceiling to listen for one, not the safest method. The laser level works very well too, it proved who was right when positioning the racks today lol. It also has a laser distance measure, that will be handy when it comes to getting new carpets later in the year, it will save loads of time in the garden too. It is well made and very easy to read. It has a rechargeable battery and it arrived ready to use. You can use it handheld or even on a tripod. It has a very comprehensive manual and a case to carry it in. A brilliant tool that will get a lot of use here.

Brilliant multitool that works very well. Love that it can even detect live wires.

This multi-measure device is very handy. The menu items can be complex, but the instructions help some. I ended up fumbling through a few functions by trial and error, but found the distance measure and laser lines very accurate. The wood and metal detection requires a bit of fiddly calibration, but once dialed in, it works well and is the best stud finder I have personally used.

This is my first stud finder. I didn’t realize that is was as incredible as it turned out to be from reading the description until I had used it. It comes with a carry case, wrist sling, charging cable, and excellent instructions. I love that the voice talks to me when it detects whatever it is I’m needing information. When I measured the distance of my rooms it told me exactly. It can be place on a tripod which is going to come in so handy for hanging things. I’m so excited to have such an amazing tool.

I use it for everything I can find to measure. I didn’t think it would be useful, but yesterday I had a handyman install three window AC units. I put this 3-in-1 tool on top of each so he could tell when it was level side-to-side and a three degree slope front to back for drainage. I measured the rooms’ area to determine if the units were sized correctly. So many uses!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a compact and powerful combination laser measure and stud finder.

The device has dedicated buttons for level, distance, menu, wood detection and metal detection. Most buttons switch to the indicated mode, but the wood and metal buttons require activating detector mode first. Menu cycles through the menu functions linearly. They missed an opportunity to double purpose the wood/metal buttons as memory and menu navigation buttons.

The color display is nice but it can be hard to read in sunlight. There’s an audible voice measurement readout which is a REALLY cool feature, and the device issues a confirmation beep when changing functions. Both are really loud and get annoying quickly when inside. There’s no volume control but you can disable both voice and beep confirmations.

The manual is very dense but for the most part you only need it for some of the more obscure functions and specs. I found that the unit was pretty easy to figure out with just trial and error. There are some useful operating tips so take the time to read through at least once.

The bubble level mode is really cool and displays a laser crosshair which is unfortunately always on in this mode. There’s a tripod mount on the underside which lets you mark a level line on the wall. The crosshair is unfortunately not auto-leveling but the bubble level allows you to get close with a tripod and ball head.

Distance mode display is very straightforward. Measurements are displayed either in fractional feet/inches or metric decimal. It will calculate areas, volumes, and sides of triangles. Measurements can be adjusted based on the front or back of the unit (e.g., you can butt it against a wall to obtain a complete measurement). You can make consecutive additive or subtractive measurements which it will sum. It isn’t quite as accurate as my dedicated laser ranger and doesn’t cover quite as much distance (+-5mm distance, +-0.5 degrees, 40m max) but it’s good enough for most situations and is actually easier to use.

Detector mode can be a bit confusing until you get used to it since they were trying to be clever and didn’t quite succeed. Wood detection mode shows a picture of wood with a bar graph indicating proximity. When a stud is detected it displays ‘Centre’ with a picture of a screw. Metal mode shows pictures of different metals (copper, steel keel, cable, etc.) with “magnetic” or “nonmagnetic” depending on type of metal, and will add an “A/C” indication if there’s power detected. The objects scale in size with proximity, and when you’re on top of the object a large red arrow shows to indicate your centerline. All in all it seems at least as accurate as my other stud finders, is only 1/3 the size, and best of all doesn’t have 9V batteries that leak all over the inside of the tool.

The device charges the internal lithium battery via USB-C. A bonus feature is that it can operate while charging so you can connect an external battery for longer run times.

I have a few different stud finders and laser measures in my toolbox that this single multifunction tool is going to largely replace. I’m EXTREMELY happy with this tool.
