I had a complicated hernia operation in February so have had problems keeping my floors clean since my hernia formed 3 years ago. It’s so easy to set up and clean them now.
It is really handful .it can clean the wood floor easily.
This product is very good, but the water container would be much better if larger. But no other bad parts just great for the household…
Arrived quickly as per usual.
Bit disappointed with the battery life, and what is determined by a small area, as they water/solution goes very quickly. Having said that I am pleased with i
…if, you follow the manufacturers instructions.
It does have limitations though, doesn’t quite clean up to the skirting board and the waste water collector fills quickly, other than that a worthy addition to the cleaning gear .
Recommended.
Would recommend easy to use and very efficient love i
Purchased for a relative. Easy to use and makes cleaning the hard floor a joy. Easy to operate, lightweight and easy to empty, clean and refill. Would recommend!
bad point – it doesn’t do edges
good point – it’s easy to use, on eco mode it was spitting water all over floor ,but on high power, it cleans a very large space quickly and i even did the tiling in the garden before and after a party !
the battery lasts well.
I tried it with the recommended vax floor cleaner (which is expensive) and I tried a normal disinfectant, which unfortunately foamed up too much.
Great piece of kit… I have a dog and 3 kids so a weekly go with this makes the place feel clean.

I like this machine a lot it has made my life so much easier. I took me a long time to decide on this machine because of the price but its worth every penny. I would highly recommend this machine.
Don’t use it all the time and still need to refer to the instructions but it does it all. A hoover and floor washer in one. Easier to use than a mop. For large areas need to refill but that’s not a problem. Got wood and tiles get one

It’s an expensive floor mop basically. If you can afford the luxury then it does the job. Only useful really if you have large areas of hard floors to clean (which we do). The product itself is fine and works well apart from the small dirty water storage capacity which others have commented on. At 200 think carefully if you really need this before you buy.

My hard floors have never been so clean with very little effort. Love it.
Would ask you to view video on amazon webpage and google Youtube video all you need to set up and start using Vax onePWR Glide Hardfloor Cleaner remarkably easy to use lightweight suction power great cordless with Lithium rechargeable battery usage gives around half an hour or more cleans surface area evenly throughout great result overall deserves best rating would highly recommend Vax one PWR Glide
like how it cleans floor but it is too heavy for an older perso
This is fine for a quick daily whip around. Doesn’t reach the edges which I had read before ordering, so I have to vacuum or sweep the edges and wash them by hand or with another type of mop. But the suction is good on most of the floor.
If the filter is slightly damp the suction doesn’t work.
The water tank isn’t always easy to push into place.
I was sceptical about this at first, I wanted something that would scrub my LVT flooring and get the dirt out of the ridges in the textured finish – I’m glad I bought this, it’s amazing how effective it is considering the brush inside is so soft. Only slight gripe is the batter life, but I did use it on max for around 20 minutes before it died – I’ve ordered another battery as I have a large floor space. Great piece of ki
Works well and drys quickly, a bit heavier than I’d like, good the way it cleans itself.

Easy to use. Cleans up well. Including vomit and leaves no smell
Used this today and it’s great, not easy to pick up and carry but it’s a good cleaner
The only thing is that we haven’t got the freebie given by other companies. A spare brush
cleans my floor Brilliantly so quick and easy to use I was disappointed that I did not receive a large free solution and extra brush otherwise very happy
Decent little machine. Does what it’s supposed to do. Spilt a glass of beer last night which would normally mean a load of T towels, however this machine dealt with it easily in seconds.
gave a 1 star rating until i got proper instructions, now 5 star. cleans hard floors great.
Have four dogs , all floors are tiled, came up really clean and brigh
I love this Vax cordless hard floor cleaner, it is easy to use with a small charger and the best feature for me is that it washes and dries your wooden floors – at first I used to much liquid but I soon got used to how much spray I needed – one of my best purchases this year.
There is nothing to dislike it just does what the advert say
Good wet hoover. Really needs a larger waste tank, as you have to empty it twice everytime you use it. Other than that happy with i
We bought the vax after seeing the all glowing adverts. The machine works well and does the job intended for making the floors very clean.
This piece of Equipment is bloody amazing.
Reading previous reviews I was very dubious esp when someone said battery and charger was not included because they are.
Wish I had bought sooner.
eally got down into the grooves on my tiled floors. very impressed and would recommend it to anyone
Good at what it does, a lot heavier then I thought, and does not get right up to edges
A few ‘teething’ issues on how much water/cleaner to release and then how much to ‘sweep’ back but all good after a couple of attempts! Would recommend a second battery if you’ve got a reasonably sized area to clean but all in all, very good and worth the money
Love this, has made cleaning floors so very easy, should have bought one ages ago
Easy to set up,works well. After mopping as usual used it and it got loads of unseen dirt from the floor.
It replaced an older electric cleaner. The battery driven model makes the cleaning simpler and quicker.
We read mixed reviews on this product, living In Spain we have only tiled floors and dust is a real problem.
We find it very easy to use. It vacuums , cleans and uses limit water on eco mode. It’s saves a lot of time and does a great job. We worry about getting a replacement roller, but we are sure we I’ll be able to source one. I would recommend this machine to anyone.
Yes it is easy to use and efficient at cleaning my floors – some ceramic tiles and larger area of engineered wood. I found once I had the technique right i.e. release of liqid/vacuuming up it did a good job in a short time. What was slightly irritating was the machine clean up afterwards, you have to clean the filter and leave outside the machine to dry, likewise with brush roller. This means the machine is not just ready to pick and go if you have spillage – as the ad. suggests.
Really did clean my kitchen floor. Easy to use but slightly heavier than I thought it would be. Easy to empty which on a large area would be quite often. Very pleased with the results however. Glad I bought it .
Love this product I have large areas of hard flooring and tiled flooring so this cuts down on time and results are great. Only downfall is the cost of the cleaning solution.
So after much deliberation and looking at other brands went with this.
Like everyone has said the edge cleaning is an issue so you need to find another way of cleaning the edges. It is cordless abs battery lasts a reasonable amount of time. If you have a lot of hard floors you will notice that you seem to be either refilling the water tank or emptying the dirty water a lot. The liquid that Vax sells is good but expensive. What you get in the box will last one clean. I have to fill the tank on large around four times when I do my house.
All that being said I am happy with it. I generally hover first as it won’t get to the edges.
If they could figure out how to clean the edges while making the liquid a bit more affordable it would be faultless
Fantastic modern hover/mop, if only it cleaned up to the edge
Easy to use but doesn’t dry that quickly. Especially if got a large area to do as the roller gets very wet. As stated already doesn’t go to the edges. But still a lot easier and cleaner than traditional mop and bucke

This machine is fantastic at cleaning my white high gloss ceramic floor tiles clean and shining.
Takes all the effort out of maintaining my large kitchen floor looking like new. It was a nightmare to keep it looking good before.
We purchased this product as we live in Spain and all our floors are tiled. It makes cleaning an absolute doddle. This is a brilliant product well worth the money and I would recommend it to everyone.
Decent hard floor cleaner.o still mop once a month tho. Handy when the kids are around.
I love this product it makes
my life so much easier don’t
Have to change water so two
tanks
I absolutely love the glide, it’s a fantastic product. I’m a 24hr carer for several family members – and this is an absolute godsend. Best of all … No more back ache with all the sweeping and mopping.
Only negative is that the reservoir needs changing a few times and dependent on usage you’d probably benefit from buying an additional battery
I do like this vacuuming and washing the floor at the same time
Bit time consuming to begin with but now used I have got quicker
Must be deep cleaner the water is really dirty when finished

Wish I bought that first instead of the steamer, as that is a waste of money.
My wife really likes this – very easy to use and effective
good little floor cleaner have all hard floors and keeps them nice and clea
Very pleased with this item makes washing floors less messy
It’s easy to use and a lot lighter than it’s mains operated unit. It is easy to clean both roller and filte
Fantastic take s the hard work out of floor cleaning
I bought directly from vax and I wish I hadn’t bothered. The clean water bottle didn’t fit properly after 3 uses. The bottle empties its contents all over the floor. I bought 2 replacement lids which also don’t work. The machine is useless.
Update… was given a new machine perfect working order so there was a glitch with the first one
I bought this as I have stone tiles throughout my downstairs and hallways, and always felt like mopping was really unhygenic, time consuming and a faff to constantly change a big bucket of water. I did a lot of research and couldn’t find anything that was comparable in terms of the different functions. It’s very simple to set up and get started. I find that the vacuuming function is not very powerful, especially if you have a lot of pet hair to contend with. I have dog who moults a lot, and find that I need to do a quick vacuum with my dyson all over first to pick up the hair, then use the vax… which i know defeats the point of an all in one!
However as for the cleaning /mop part, I think this is pretty effective, certainly more hygienic and gets a better clean than mopping. My floors dry really quickly, and come up very clean and shiny after using this.
The water containers are quite small so you do have to empty them a few times if you have a big space, but it takes all of 10 seconds to do so not exactly difficult. The one good thing about having smaller water containers is that this uses a lot less water to clean the floors than mopping did for me. You don’t need to use the Vax own brand floor cleaner, contrary to some other reviews. I use other products and it is fine. The one thing that i think Vax needs to fix for the next model is the battery life. The battery that came with the Vax only lasts about 25 mins on high setting. If you have a big area to do like me, then this won’t last long enough. I ended up having to buy a spare battery costing 80 so that I can swap them over in order do all my floors in one go. I imagine the battery would last longer on the low setting but i’ve not felt the need to put it into the low setting.
Overall my view is a bit mixed on this. For me it works really well as an electric mop, it’s quicker and more hygenic than mopping and gets better results. Also the fact that this is really lightweight, quick and easy to use means that I have been using it a lot more frequently than I used to use a mop, so therefore a much cleaner house all the time. But the downside for me is that this is a bit pricey, it’s not really an all in one machine, and having to buy an extra battery was just annoying.
So pleased with this…cleans the floor perfectly….having two pugs who moult like mad and bring dirt in all the time….it sucks like a vacuum and washes at the same time
Excellent product would recommend for hard floors, ensure you empty dirty water tank regularly
With good suction and washing qualities this appears to be a fine machine. What does leave it down though is the battery, it only lasts for up to 30mins before you need to place it on charge.
if you have hard flooring, wood ,tiles, laminate flooring this is the cleaner for you , first class produc
we love item only had it a week though but so far so good if you have hard floors and young children its a game changer very easy to set up and charge battery and very lightweight to use u can get rid of smelly mops etc this is all you need but keep your broom i would advise a quick sweep before use you don’t want to hoover up bits of legs etc ideally
This Vax cleaner is used in a house with a real wood floor for the majority of the lounge area, and a tiled floor in a kitchen and conservatory space. They are a pain to keep clean with mops and antibac wipes, so this has been a welcome change.
The Vax is surprisingly heavy and that isn’t something I’m used to. While it’s not a problem, you may want to take that into consideration if you have to take it up and down stairs (my own upstairs is mostly carpeted, so I choose not to).
Despite its weight it’s easy enough to tidy away into a cupboard. It doesn’t take up too much power. Its suction on the hard floors is perfectly fine. I give it a cheeky run over the rug too and that doesn’t seem to have any negative effect on the Vax (though I don’t use the cleaner element).
For cleaning – well it’s just great. The floor takes as long to dry as you’d expect after a light mopping. The cleanliness is totally acceptable. It’s a great product.
We have quite a large area of tiled floors in our downstairs. We don’t have dogs so can’t comment on how well it works with lots of dog hair, but we do have 4 young children. I wanted this for our tiled floor to save hovering and then cleaning. In principle it works, with the exception of getting into tight spaces and cleaning the grout. The brushes don’t quite get down to clean the grout. Its hard to get into the corners, and close to the edges, in fact you can’t get right to the edge. With the exception of these two things, the VAX all in one is a great bit piece of equipment and will save you time. The dirt containers are pretty small and will need emptying quite a few times on a large floor area, but at least you know its clean.
It is easy to put together, its pretty much assembled when it arrives. You get a small amount of wash liquid to use. You only need a small amount.
Overall pretty good, but with a few flaws. However it will save you time.
This hard floor cleaner from Vax is quite a good and clever machine … it’s not perfect but it certainly had its place in the home. In basic terms this machine vacuums, washes, sanitises and dries your hard floors. It doesn’t work on carpeted or uneven floors such as certain types of stone and slate.
The cleaner is very easy to put together when it arrives, simply click a couple of parts together and you’re done. With the machine you receive a storage and cleaning brush tray, one battery unit and 250mls of hard floor cleaner.
It didn’t take too long to fully charge the battery, a couple of hours at the most … I tend to charge the battery after every use regardless of whether it’s run out or not, that way I know I have a full charge every time I use it.
The machine itself is so easy to use … remove the cleaning container, add the recommended amount of solution and hot water to the attached container, it is clearly marked on the side of this how much to use and then replace it back onto the machine. As a side note it doesn’t really matter what cleaning solution you use as long as it is a low foam one.
To operate the machine press the start button located on the top of the handle and move the machine forward whilst pulling the lever (also located on the handle) this dispenses the cleaning solution whilst the brushes rotate cleaning the floor. To dry the floor you release the lever and pull the machine back towards yourself over the area you have just washed, this sucks up the water leaving the floor dryer than a mop does. Please note this machine will in fact suck up the water when pushing either backwards or forwards as long as the lever had been released. It also does a very reasonable job of picking up debris from the floor at the same time.
The effectiveness of this cleaner is pretty good, it really does a good job off cleaning laminate, tiles and sealed wood flooring. In my opinion it does a better job than a mop and bucket for three reasons …
1. The brushes agitate the trodden in dirt enabling the machine to clean it up and it does a better job than a mop.
2. It removes germs and sanitises the floor to a high standard as you are using clean water with every stroke.
3. You can actually vacuum and wash the floor at the same time which in turn saves time.
4. The machine manoeuvres well and it is much less tiring than using a mop and bucket.
At the beginning of my review, I said that this hard floor cleaner is good but not perfect and this is because of one main problem … the machine does not clean right up to the edges, it leaves an area of about half an inch untouched around the edges of the room. I overcome this by going round the edges with a thin flat mop about once a week … not too much of a hardship and I sincerely feel that the positives of this machine outweigh the single negative.
Cleaner arrived well packaged and assembly was straightforward. Although the “quick start guide” provides sufficient information there are a number of helpful videos available online.
Pros:
The cleaner is very light and easy to manoeuvre around.
Battery life was around 20 minutes using a mix of High and Eco settings This was more than enough to clean a large hallway and kitchen floor.
It performed well removing debris from solid oak flooring and smooth stone tiles, with the collected material visible in the waste water tank.
The water pick up worked well leaving smooth floor surfaces damp to the touch.
After use cleaning was a simple process taking a couple of minutes.
Cons:
The battery has to be removed from the cleaner and placed in a separate charging cradle, and cannot be charged while in the cleaner.
The cleaner did not perform so well on the “Open Travertine” stone floor, both the cleaning and removal of water was disappointing.
Overall a good, easy to use cleaner for smooth hard floor surfaces.
I used this cleaner on a newly laid laminate floor and was really surprised how much dirt it cleaned up. See the photo for details…
Once assembled and charged I found the cleaner to be very easy to use – I did run a vacuum cleaner over the floor first then it is a case of mixing up some solution then like my Vax varpet cleaner you push forwards whilst holding the button to apply the solution and pull back without the button to suck up the dirt. It left the floor very clean, almost dry and smelling nice and fresh. It is very easy and effective – especially when compared to using a mop and bucket.
There is enough capacity to clean a couple of rooms before you need to empty the dirt and refill the clean tanks, and the battery will do a good few rooms between charges. And there is a stand included for storage so that any water still in the machine does not leak when it is not in use.
I think that this is a very good time and labour saving cleaner for the hard floors in your home.
So I have just used this for the first time, bought because we are about to get a new puppy and are expecting to have to wash the kitchen tiles more often than we normally would! Good points are I had to wash around sons dog who was quite happy to sleep through the process so its not as noisy as some cordless vacuums. I quickly discovered you can put anything (or nothing but water) in the solution tank and it has much the same end result. it did clean the floor but not noticeably quicker or cleaner than a mop and it was only slightly drier than mopping although to be fair this is an old house and the tiles are somewhat uneven!. Be aware that the dirty water tank looks large but has a cut out when there is only a couple of inches of water in it, if you go beyond this it makes a hell of a mess
A quick start guide explains the basics and the cleaner is fairly easy to move about and manoeuvre. It does what it’s tasked with and does it well. The component pieces — battery and tanks — connect and remove easily. It also manages to stay upright when you need to click it into position and walk away for a moment. It’s convenient to be able to take the battery out of this vacuum to charge it. Apparently it can be used in other items in the range, if you have them. If only all appliances went down this route, we could all make better use of our electricity. You get some “Vax One PWR System Multi Floor Solution” in a 250ml bottle to get you started. The solution tank has “small area” and “large area” markings for the amount of water and solution you need to put in it. Other than that quick guide and a page of safety notices I couldn’t find a full manual in the box — or at least anything with the unit’s cleaning instructions on. Cleaning it after use is not the most enjoyable of tasks but it’s not difficult to do or, for that matter, to work out what to do. The whole unit is solidly made and, as long as you treat it right, it should do the same for you.
This is a wonderful machine but with some serious limitations. The way it works is that you fill a compartment with water and some of the provided fluid (I guess you can put generic floor cleaners in there) and you press a button to spray some water on the floor and hoover over it. It works well and seems to mop and hoover at the same time efficiently without leaving a great degree of water on the floor. The battery works quite well and is sufficient for a 30′ run I think. It charges outside the device, so you do not have to hang this hoover on some sort of wall bracket, which is better. The problem is that you cannot do carpets and as most of us have lots of carpets at home it means you need to get a different one for that. Also, the compartment with the residue is quite disgusting to clean as it is filled with filthy water with all sorts of gunk. Same goes for the revolving mop on the floor. All in all this is great for the use it is intended, but I am not so sure about an all around use. Also, I am worried that it leaves too much water on wooden floors, and the provided liquid is not clear as to whether it is ok to use on wooden surfaces.
I tested this on our hardwood floors (up and downstairs) which I would normally sweep or hoover and then mop when visibly dirty with mud. I liked the idea of being able to clean the whole floor in one pass without messy mops and buckets, and the fact that it’s rechargeable and therefore doesn’t involve trailing a long flex around.
The machine is easy to assemble. You begin by charging its battery and then slotting it into place, then filling the water tank with a solution of water and the detergent supplied. there are two possible marks on the tank – small or large area. Doing our large floor area took a full tank of solution and used up about half of the 500ml bottle supplied with the machine. A litre bottle (enough for four whole-house cleans) costs 10 on Amazon, so each clean is costing me about 2.50 in detergemnt, which seems a lot – certainly not something I’d want to do every day.
Cleaning the floors is easy. You just turn it on and use like a vacuum cleaner, squeezing the trigger in the handle to dispense solution onto the floor on each forward stroke, which you then suck up on the backward stroke. The dirty water collects in a special tank as you go along. I found it did a very good job at cleaning a moderately dirty wooden floor, sucking up dust, dirt, crumbs and pet hair and getting rid of muddy footprints and other stains.
It works without dispensing a lot of water, so the floor dries quite quickly, and if an area of floor isn’t too dirty you can just use the machine dry for that part. It’s fairly manoeuvrable for an upright, though it doesn’t get into really tricky areas or corners like a cylinder hoover would. , Doing two large floor areas reduced the battery change by exactly half (there’s a handy indicator with lights so you can see how much charge you have left, although the battery should be removed if the machine is being stored for a long period.)
However, cleaning the machine after use is a bit of a faff. The printed”quick start guide” supplied doesn’t cover this, so you have to go online and download the full manual to learn what to do. That tells you how to empty and rinse out the dirty water tank and its separator, rinse the rollers at the base of the machine and clean the filter , which then has to be left out of the machine to air dry for 24 hours – another reason why this is a machine to be used once a week rather than every day. There are also instructions for “advanced cleaning” of the brushroll which has to be done every 5-6 uses, and how to check and clear blockages.
I will definitely use this to do a deep clean when the floor gets really dirty, but I can’t see it replacing the tried-and-trusted broom, hoover and mop for everyday use in small areas.
This is a nice bit of floor cleaning equipment. It works very well at cleaning and mopping the hard floors around the house. We have a mixture of carpet, ceramic tiles and laminate, I am making a leap of faith here and saying it won’t be any good at all for carpet! It doesn’t throw out too much water and dries very well so won’t mess with a laminate floor, and its the ‘dogs’ on ceramic tiles. An articulated head allows for awkward corners although going too low will activate the auto shut off on the waste water collector.
The battery life may improve with more charging/discharging cycles, but its not too bad, I can get the kitchen and dining room floors done with a single charge using the higher setting of the two available the lower setting allows the hall and shower room to be done too.
Cleaner liquid and pick up capacity is limited, but refilling emptying and cleaning is not complicated and doesn’t take too long. There is very nearly as much waste collected as has been used, proving the efficiency of the ‘electric mop’ effect. There is an automatic cut off if the waste tank gets too full.
Mrs C isn’t too keen on the smell of the additive, I can’t say I find it offensive, but be aware that it does have an odour that lasts a while. I, having run out of the additive, used a mixture of warm water, a few tablespoons of bleach which also ‘kills 99% of germs’ and a few drops of ‘stardrops’ to good effect without the smell.
Pleasing in use and results enough for five stars, though I shall have to edit on the robustness of the machine and in particular, the rubber seals around the waste pick up. A fortnights testing for a machine costing around 250 is no real test to judge so I will edit some way down the line – I am writing this review in March 2020.

Now then, let me get the important bit out first: learn from me. Do not, repeat DO NOT try to remove the handle once it’s in place. I found out to my cost that this actually breaks the handle, not in a permanent way, but in a “pulls the wire loom out of a socket in the handle that you have to destructively enter so now my vac has screwdriver marks all over the handle but it’s ok because I don’t care about aesthetics” kind of way.
Nowhere in the instructions does it say you can (or indeed can’t) remove the handle, so I will chalk that one up to my error, and simply warn you not to do it! Don’t do it!
Now then, this is actually a pretty decent thing you would have never thought you needed. We use a mop right? On hard floor? Or you can get any number of squeezy trigger foamy abominations but they all tend to fail when it comes to actually cleaning more than once. Mop and bucket excepted of course, time tested reliable way to mop a floor right there, but these “gadgets” usually end up gross and hairy and you don’t want to bother with them, so out comes the mop again.
I’ve done the kitchen floor twice and the bathroom floor twice now and this one stays clean. It’s basically like a vacuum cleaner but with wet dust when it comes to maintenance. Rinse the lower container, done. I guess after a while you might have to deal with the roller but so far it’s kept up well!
It does guzzle down a lot of the liquid though so ongoing costs are far higher than a mop/bucket if you pay RRP (10/litre) for the solution. I think as a total guess you might get about…a month…out of a bottle of the stuff if you clean weekly and have a normal downstairs with hard floor. You can control the amount though to a great extent, the water/solution mix only dispenses when you press the trigger, so if you clean often you definitely can use less.
As far as cleaning performance goes, can’t fault it. It cleans very well at least where it reaches – all carpet cleaners have giant heads and wide edges and this is no exception. Pokey kitchen? Forget it. Small bathroom? Don’t bother. This excels on large areas, by which I mean, large unobstructed areas, a metre square is the absolute minimum you need to even begin, and you will need to follow up with a floor wipe an inch next to any obstruction. That’s just how it is I’m afraid, they don’t make “edge tools” I don’t think, as you would with a vac.
The battery / suction performance is also outstanding. You quickly forget it’s even battery and not mains. It doesn’t last “long” but “long” is very much down to your opinion. I have done all four cleans on one charge, I just don’t like to take long to do these things. Same with vacuum cleaners really, half an hour of battery on a vac is more than enough for me, but apparently people exist who vacuum for more than that. How? Why?
I do have one gripe and it’s a big one for me. Instructions. Are they going out of fashion? You get a sort of quick start guide and there’s a folded card dangling from the handle with some more info, but I was left with questions. Questions like “what is the black rinse tray for?” and “why is the battery compartment bigger than the battery, can you get longer life ones?” and “can I replace the roller?” and of course the all important “should I perhaps not try to remove the handle?”.
So, anyway, to sum up, I’m impressed with it, if you have hard floors all through your house it’s a no brainer. For a larger kitchen and hall it’s very useful, for anything smaller you probably don’t need it. Pros: it cleans really well and it’s a “clean” way of cleaning with minimal follow up, just tip out a container and rinse it, battery is ample (for me) and using it is easy. Cons: It’s big enough that you need to store it somewhere (no wider than a mop mind you), the solution isn’t cheap, and the manual isn’t…well…present. Oh, it’s also a bit noisy. Not, I might add, as loud as our vax carpet cleaner which I have to use ear defenders with, but that’s a story for another time!
I was pleased to sample and test this Vax OnePWR Glide Cordless Hardfloor Cleaner over ten days.
I have tried a number of different brands and types of floor cleaner over the years and invariably
they have failed until in the end I went back to the traditional method of hot soapy water and either
a mop or one of those long handle cleaners with replaceable pads. As you might suspect the latter
was not the easiest-it made for hard work , was inconsistent with cleanliness, that is wiping the floor
and then rinsing it in the bucket and repeating that process over and over again.
So, it was with interest that I embarked on testing this Vax product. What a positive experience.
Firstly, the enclosed instructions are sparse (the days of manufacturers producing big thick booklets with
products are over,) so it is worthwhile and essential that you download the more detailed instructions from
the supplied link to the website.
To give you context, I have two large hardfloor areas one in the kitchen and the other in an adjoining room.
They are tiled. There is also a sealed wooden area in the hall.
In particular, the large kitchen area has a lot of activity but also as an access and egress point from the property.
I put the Vax Cordless Cleaner through its paces after charging up the battery. It took almost two hours to charge
it fully. I found that the battery lasted a little over the guide time of thirty minutes clocking in at nearly forty-five
minutes. A useful tip is that I used in on the ‘Eco’ mode which may have increased the operating time.
In use I found it to be effective and manoeuvrable. When you sweep across the floor you activate the trigger
on the handle which activates release of the clean water which is situated on the back of the cleaner. The other
tank fills with the dirty water. Believe me -it did make a huge difference. If you think your floor is clean this
Vax cleaner dispels that idea-judging by the dirty water!
You only need a small amount of the Vax hardfloor cleaning liquid when adding it to the water.
Certainly within the time I had effectively cleaned the large kitchen area floor, adjoining room and hall.
In terms of cleaning the roller brush after use, you put the tray underneath the cleaner, empty the clean
water tank replacing it with warm clean water, (no cleaning fluid,) you place your foot and press the ‘on’ switch and pull the handle back to commence the roller brush pressing the trigger on the handle. Cleans the brush. For a more deeper clean of the brush, merely run it under the tap and place on the tray to dry. Incidentally, I found removal of
the brush roller to be easy.
The cleaner also vacuums the floor at the same time. So an all round performance.
It is easy to manoeuvre around the rooms -it is not particularly heavy or cumbersome at all.
It is clearly a more hygienic approach separating clean from dirty water.
For me, and I do not state this lightly, this Vax Hardfloor Cleaner is the gold standard in this task.
This is definitely one of the best floor cleaners I’ve ever used. The fact that it’s cordless makes it so convenient to use and I find the charge does last the 30 minutes that it claims, which is great.
I have been using this on our laminate flooring and wood flooring and it’s equally very effective at cleaning both, in fact I never realised how much dirt had accumulated on our floors until I started using this!
Even better, it’s powerful enough to shift ingrained marks from the floor, as well as loose bits of dirt, which saves me having to manually scrub the marks with a cloth. This cleaner really is so easy to use, and the fact it also dries the floor saves a lot of time.
The auto-clean system works really well and makes it very quick to clean after use. This cleaner really does take the hassle out of a normally laborious job, a definite must for anyone with hard floors.
When this came I was excited to give it a go and unpackaged it, clipped the handle onto the main part and popped the battery on to charge (push the battery firmly into the base until it clicks into place). Once charged it’s an easy case of lifting the battery compartment on the base of the cleaner and slotting it home. My one complaint at this stage as the amount (or lack of) instructions. It comes with a piece of paper detailing the safety information listing a list of do nots (main one that jumped out was the use of only the Vax branded cleaner or else invalidating the guarantee) and a leaflet tied to the handle (I’ve pictured this).
I have 3 dogs so trying to keep hard floors clean in the winter is a never ending battle. To be fair to the cleaner I decided to try it out on my bathroom floor that was due a deep clean. I decided that the space qualifies as a small area (the water tank has a small area level indicator and a large area indicator). I filled the tank up with water and topped it up to the second level that indicated the amount of cleaner needed (a small bottle is included in the box).
I popped the cleaner on and started sweeping back and forward across the floor before remembering to press the trigger on the handle for forward motions! Rectifying that pressing the trigger and releasing I soon realised that for even a room as small as my bathroom is I should have filled to accommodate a large room! However the bathroom was cleaned with one tank of water and to test how well it had cleaned I wiped the floor with a floor wipe just to test how much grime was still left and was pleasantly surprised when it came back with a minimum of dirt (would probably have been even better had I used the larger room capacity).
Now came the cleaning. The leaflets don’t say that it’s possible but the storage base provided has a slot for drying off your roller. So after figuring out how to get the roller off (an awkward video is included in the review) washing the roller off in the sink with just warm water the tank emptied it was left to dry off in the aforementioned base.
My main reasons for deducting a star are the lack of decent instructions and the need to purchase Vax only cleaner. I have discovered that Amazon do sell the cleaner as does another shop where you pop a catalogue number in, pay for it at a till and then collect. At the time of the review the price for this cleaner is 10 for a litre bottle or 30 for a 4 litre bottle. That to me is a very, very high price, even half that amount for me would have been a lot more suitable. The smell of the cleaner as well, although described as citrus, I could not smell anything so ended up still wiping the floor down with a citrus floor wipe purely because although the floor was clean I couldn’t smell that!
Overall it is a good product and it does work but it perhaps could have done with a larger water compartment and the option to use other cleaners without invalidating the warranty or even having them at a much more affordable price.
