Owned older Von Haus strimmer for six years now. Done heaps of work and never a problem with it, even the battery has lasted. Thought I’d get a newer one now for the summer, just in case. Recommended.

Used for edging a fairly small lawn – it does the job well and is easy to use

Love this strimmer, no more irritating wire that keeps snapping.
This Von Haus is so easy to use, it is light to hold, simple to snap on a new blade, the battery lasts for ages. I can do all around my garden without having to change the blade. I would recommend this strimmer to make gardening easier.

My strimmer was getting through these blades at a crazy rate and then I found out why.

After using the strimmer for some time the plastic wheel to which these blades gets very hot. After use, if you stand the strimmer up against a wall the hot wheel rests on the ground and the weight of the machine deforms the wheel potentially putting the blade on a collision path with the shield.

Solution. After use lay the strimmer down on its shield.

Fix for deformed wheel – use heat gun to gently warm wheel and slightly lift it away from where it strikes the shield.

Otherwise it is one of a great range of Von Haus battery powered garden tools.

Don’t expect to get through anything much more than grass with this. Blades tend to snap off when they hit anything solid and replacement blades tend not to fit as well as the originals. My first model just ceased to work but at least I have two batteries now.

This is a very effective battery powered trimmer for small gardens, tackling both grass and overgrown areas

It is suitable for rough grass and edges of lawn. Just what we expected! Obviously it is not as powerful or effective as a petrol strimmer or brush cutter. However it is light and easy to use for small jobs

Simple lightweight strimmer, good easy height adjustment. Decent battery life. The bades are easy to change but dont last very long if you catch fencing or anything solid.

Love the ease of this strimmer, however, it doesn’t like working hard and the blades disappear quickly. Battery life is good.

I’ve never been able to get on with wire strimmers so I thought I’d try a bladed one and with this being cordless it ticked all the boxes. It’s been an absolute game hanger – quick to charge, lightweight, easy to replace the blades and makes a hated chore so much easier. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you purchase this strimme

I purchased this two years ago and it has done a decent job. Unfortunately the battery charger stopped working. I contacted the company to buy a replacement. Von Haus responded very quickly and sent me a whole new trimmer even though my one was out of warranty. Very impressed

The product almost does what the adverts claim. Very light and fairly easy to use, eventually. There is obviously a knack to using it!

I have a video doorbell, and a security camera in the porch.
Sadly, the driver made no attempt to ring the bell or knock on the door. It only because I saw the van pull up, that I realised that the delivery was being made.

Can someone please point me to the right blades. I brought 100 blades that were for this strimmer but there too small to get on the strimmer. Have to cut the wholes bigger?

I inadvertently allowed my garden to seriously resemble a jungle–no really, the grass is at least knee-high and I was starting to think I’d need a guide to get to the back fence. My poor lawn mower was cowering in fear at the mere thought of attempting to get the stuff under control, so I decided I’d need a strimmer to cut it down to size. After a bit of googling, and learning that cord strimmers leave small bits of plastic everywhere as they are used, I decided that a plastic blade was a better choice (not perfect-still plastic, but better) and the VonHaus seemed to tick all the boxes. I was not disappointed! It came mostly assembled, only requiring the guard to be added, and had a fully charged battery. It’s lightweight and easy to hold, and can be extended so that me (5’3″) my 6’4″ husband can both easily use it (a rarity). It came with 10 plastic blades, but I’ve cut quite a bit of my (very overgrown) garden and a friend’s (not quite so overgrown) garden on one blade. The battery lasts very well, and charges quickly. Not having a cord to mess with is a real plus! It does require a bit of practice, with long grass you need to cut from the top a few inches at a time or the grass winds around the spindle. A bit of a pain, but easy enough to clear. All in all, I’m very pleased and it makes strimming less of a chore.

I got this to compliment my robot lawnmower to get to the bits that Rob misses. Easy to use, nice and light. Very easy to swap blades, which is handy as they snap a lot when hitting anything firm (rock / stick / decking), but I guess that’s physics. As a grass trimmer – very good. Gardening has never been so easy.

  28. kevin knezevic says:

Easy to assemble. The plastic cutter blades can break if a little too reckless with the cutting, however it comes supplied with lots of spares. Battery charges pretty quick too.

Absolutely perfect for me, I have about 4 spool strimmers in my shed that are useless. I love this strimmer as it’s battery operated so much easier to manoeuvre around garden without the worry of strimming over the electrical lead. I had to buy a 2nd battery as my grass was quite high! Took a break while battery re-charges if you only have the one.

  30. AugustMccurry says:

It is quite easy to cut what’s not supposed to be cut; i.e. flowers but maybe just needs getting used to. Quite lightweight and easy to refit blade which can snap if touches a stone. Overall, I like this and the battery life is very good.

This is so easy to use. Battery lasts for 4 or more garden edge strimmings. The plastic blades are a bit brittle so care needed around hard objects. It comes with plenty of spares which are changed over in a minute.

I’m writing this review during the second season that I’ve used this strimmer, so it’s not just a new broom for me. The strimmer is extraordinarily light. It retains unused charge for a long time. While it uses charge quite fast, it recharges very quickly. The cutters are so quick and easy to change — though I’ve only ever needed to do this once, for it’s not as if they break easily. This strimmer replaced a corded spool & line strimmer which we hardly ever used because it was so tiresome to reel out electric cable down our long garden and to fiddle with the spool & line. But this Von Haus strimmer gets used frequently because you can take it out so easily for tiny one-off jobs. It’s taking over a bit from the petrol lawn mower because it’s so quick and easy to take out and get started. Highly recommended!

Bought this 2 days ago and finally put it together today. Read other reviews some were good some were bad. I have made my own judgement and I think for 64.99 its worth every penny. I wanted a light weight no cord trimmer so I can pop out and give the garden a quick once over if I want it extra tidy and around the farm yard. I used it for a full half hour none stop without a battery charge. I used up 3 blades – using up one on grass over hanging cobblestones – it cleaned them up brilliantly but is hard on the blades. I used the guard when strimming against a wall but found once the tip had gone I couldn’t get close enough so I clicked the guard out of the way and carried on. If you are cautious you can strim huge areas before replacing a blade, if you are gung ho – you could replace every 3 minutes – so be careful. It trimmed clumps of grass no problem. Round trees easy peasy – for me its mostly around a farm yard and up against walls so I will use more blades than most. Along the edge of lawns / borders was a doddle. I will purchase replacement blades through Amazon various ones on offer and some suggest better wearing ones on offer than those which arrive with trimmer. My friend is now going to purchase one as she like me needed a cordless trimmer so I have sent her the details. I personally don’t think any one would be disappointed.

Easy to use, lightweight and portable. Only minor gripe is the amount of blades you will chew through if you touch solid objects too often. With a 100ft garden using a corded strimmer is not an option – this is the ideal alternative

Lightweight, easy to assemble, good battery power…

This trimmer turned up within 24 hours of ordering it, the assembly instructions were easy to follow and it felt sturdy after I finished. When I got to use it I did break a blade but that was due to the bricks on the edge of the garden. The battery life straight out of the box was amazing, I have a small front garden and a large back garden and after doing the edges of both it needed charging. Highly recommend this trimme

This is a good strimmer but you definitely need a spare battery, it only does 3 quarters of the garden before it needs charging which can be a pain.

What more do you want? It is light. It works. Perhaps not quite so carefree as a nylon spool type. But the charge is quite sufficient for a couple of trips round our lawn. The rigid plastic ‘blades’ do tend to fracture if you loose concentration.

Nice lightweight cutter, good price, lasts long enough to cut through 30 metres of overgrown verge. Had to change blades a couple of times but easier than those ones with string. Blade guard fell off too easily but fixed with glue, so won’t now be able to return it if anything else fails I guess.

Was given a time frame of about a week to deliver, article was sent the following day. Good battery, easy to use, better on a lawn, do not use to clear heavy undergrowth as the single blade cannot cope. Enjoy.

fine replacement strimmer for the old b and d I have used for 30 years. Light, easy to build, and the battery is quick to charge and fit on. Plenty power for usual garden trimming. Blades are easy to put on and although they pop off now and again, you can fit them back on which is better than trying to get more wire out of the spool on old machine. Pleased with purchase and was delivered quickly as well

This has replaced a McCullough strimmer that was always difficult to start and eventually would not start, had enough of messing about and purchased this to replace the petrol one (now consigned to the bin)
Easy to put together and use, it’s already strimmed the allotment so it has plenty of go, I am impressed !

I didn’t really want a cordless strimmer I just wanted to try one that didn’t use a reel of nylon. My experience is that the strimming line is never feeds well and is constantly breaking.

The plastic blade on this machine is much more robust and does the job well. Changing the blade is very simple when needed. The fact that the machine is cordless makes it far easier to use. The result is that I use it more often.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is my first bladed strimmer and it is obviously different to the wired version. The bladed strimmer is not as forgiving as the wired when approaching more solid objects, the wired version will move over the object where the blade will either break or come away from the strimmer. The strimmer plastic guard is a bit flimsy and occasionally falls off.
Another disappointment I have is when purchasing this VonHaus strimmer I thought the battery would be compatible with my previously purchased VonHaus hedge cutter but the batteries are a different size and use a different method of charging.
This strimmer is easy to adjust and not too heave and has a handy roller to keep your strimming in line.

Golden Review Award: 53 From Our UsersExceeded expectations and easily cut through thick weeds and even some branches. Love the cutting keys instead of wire as it’s much easier to quickly change blades on the go. One blade done a lot of work and outlasted the battery, however the blades can sometimes randomly snap and come off (not sure if it’s me doing something wrong). A downside to this trimmer is that it should come with 2 batteries as it runs out quickly. Recommend buying an extra battery and maybe some more blades. It’s really easy to use and perfect for beginners. Overall it’s a great product as long as you buy an extra battery.
