The Watch Press did exactly that, pressed the back on to a watch after I replaced the battery and couldn’t replace the back by hand. An instruction booklet comes with the product and though it required some interpretation (ie guesswork) it tells you what you need to do. Well worth the expense, which was minimal, and the wait for delivery, which was next day. A solid product.
I am trying to restore a watch that holds a lot of sentimental value to me and was looking at getting the glass changed, until I spoke to a watch specialist, then I decided to do it myself!.. Great little device, basic but does the job well, simple to use and looks neat.. Would strongly recommend
Done the job of putting the back of my watch back on after changing the battery. I tried pushing it back on using my thumbs but no way could I get it on, but after using this it snapped back on easily.
Having researched the item online, I felt I knew how to operate it correctly. However there’s always the instructions. How foolish of me. The set-up guide was all about a different watch back tool, followed by one page of impossibly small print. even with a magnifying glass it was near impossible to read any of it. So i would add that although the watch back tool is excellent look up how to use it on Google …. Simple.
This case back watch press is so easy to use and does the job properly ensuring there is even and level closure. The various size dies will suit just about all watch case backs.Obviously this tool is NOT for screw back watch case types.
I have Nomination watches and they have curved faces. It’s easy to change the batteries but extremely difficult to get the backs on. It’s expensive to take them to a jewellers. This press worked so well. Very easy to use and did need a lot of pressure to get the backs on. I wish I had bought this sooner. This will save money in the future.
Having changed a watch battery on a ‘snap on’ watch, I had to tell a friend I couldn’t get the back on. I told her she needed to find someone with a press.
I looked one up on Amazon and was surprised at the price, also the comments were somewhat contradictory. I took a chance and bought this.
Whilst the job was a tight fit, this tool worked really well.
However, there was advice in the comments to WATCH A YOUTUBE VIDEO first. I can only endorse that, otherwise you may have broken crystal (glass).
Recommended.
Every time my watch batteries needed replacing i ended up with an extortionate bill from the jewellers. I bought this and a tool kit for changing strap sizes and getting the backs off. Its been an invaluable piece of kit in getting the watch backs back on, i’d tried several ways with no success until i got this. Only tricky bit is to make sure you get the right size puck or you will end up damaging the watch. Paid for itself already.
Well made sturdy machine, I’d tried and failed to re-close the back of one of my watches, this did the trick instantly, very precise and a godsend to anyone who changes their own batteries.
Great piece of kit does what you wany it to do
This press is fine for pressing on case backs but not really up to the job of pressing on acrylic crystals with a tension ring. The problem is that the dyes are made of plastic not aluminium so they flex and don’t apply an even amount of pressure, which means you have to apply a lot more pressure to get the crystal to snap in. Of the two crystals with tension rings I tried to press in, on CWC G10s, they both went in on most sides except for one edge that was bulging out. To press in the bulging part, you have to keep trying with increased force. The first snapped in when i really leaned on it with my upper body and the 2nd one was a nightmare, I had to stand on the press and that wasn’t enough so I had to gently bob up and down on the handle, which caused it to bend, but the crystal did eventually snap in. I will be using a different model.
Timex watches have press fit backs. Easy to get the back off when you change the battery but a nightmare to get it back on again. This tool has made putting the back on a breeze. Very pleased.
Does what it is supposed to do, and for a good price.
I used this to change the batteries in two watches and it proved to be an easy to use bit of kit , the press with its many different moulds to protect the watch front was very useful .
I have an array of watches all different sizes, and this tool had a mould 4 each one.
4 the price it has more than paid 4 itself.
A must buy 4 anyone getting into watch repairs.
Appears to be well made, but as I haven’t used it yet, can’t really give an honest review.
Sturdy and comes in a good box. Parts can be managed in the plastic bags, rather than being loose in the box.
Completes my watch and clock repair equipment and much better than trying to push the back on by hand.
Would have liked slightly better manual. It is a small generic watch repair leaflet.
Even a YouTube link seeing it in use would help. Still worth the 5 stars.
As I was having a problem replacing the back of my sons watch I ordered this press for delivery next day through Prime. When It arrived as promised I used It straight away and watch back went on with no problems. All I needed to do was make sure I selected the appropriate sized dies for top and bottom. Very pleased with press, seller and Prime prompt service. I will recommend seller and use again myself.
I wish I had found this long ago money saver and so easy to use
Did the job with no damage, as i opened the back of the watch few days before i got the back press and failed to fix it back again whatever i did. With Back press didn’t take a minute and job was done.
No matter what size I used on my partners ladies watch none would fit the back back onto the watch
A well made and packaged item it took only seconds to refit a watch back. Used in conjunction with a battery replacement tool kit will I never need to to go to get a battery replaced again.
You tube videos will tell you that replacing the watch back is straight forward and that backs can be put on without a press. Some watches, – yes, – others definitely NO, some watches you won’t be able to replace the back without a press like this one. I spent almost two hours trying to press the back onto my watch, – with this press I did it in two minutes.
But watch the following two points:
1) When choosing the disc to press down on the back of the watch, make sure that it is the exact same diameter as your watch back. Any size less and you will struggle.
2) When screwing on the press-down disc that you have selected on to the upper section of the press, – be very careful not to cross the thread. Rather than presenting the disc from below and threading it upwards, I suggest that you turn the equipment over and thread it carefully in a downwards direction.
A first class product, highly recommended. Purchased to replace back of my Tissot watch. Will save me bundles of money now I can replace batteries myself.
Watch press works as it should, good bit of ki
I have only used this tool once to re-close the back of one Watch. Unfortunately it was the back of Ladies Skagen Watch. These are notorious to open and close. Having struggled to open the back to fit a new Battery, it then proved impossible to refit the back, despite following the instructions. I excerted so much force on the lever that I was fearful of breaking the tool. I therefore had to remove the seal and use a fine file to chamfer the closure ring, which several people have reported as being done. This is not to criticise the Tool, but more to the problem with Skagen Watches. Having chamfered the ring and refitted the seal, the back was successfully fitted.
Why didn’t I buy one of these years ago? I have often struggled to replace watch backs but this worked like a dream with little effort indeed.
This is not an expensive product so don’t automatically assume that this would do the job for every watch.
It took me an hour to close the back cover on a larger diameter watch whereas it dealt with smaller watches with ease.
Considering the price it’s good but don’t expect marvels.
I had a watch that when I change the battery I could not get the back on. This did i
Brilliant set of kit. Really help with putting the back on one of my watches
I wanted to change the crystal on my brothers seiko 009. This tool is one of them tools you must have even if you only use it a few times. It did the job perfect. I also changed the bezel gasket on my 007. Perfect tool for those jobs that it’s needed for.
I used the press as soon as it arrived to put the back on my wife’s watch after replacing the battery. It was so simple to pick the correct size of the dies to fit the watch, fit to the press and compress the watch back, and CLICK it was done in 2 to 3 minutes.
I enjoy pottering with watches but often trying to get the back on is a real chew and I had a few which I couldn’t get on. I purchased this after reading reviews and it’s great I have sorted about 6 watches out that had been sitting around for some time.
I was worried the force might crack the glass but the choice of head sizes makes it so much easier along with the protective cloth. It’s been well worth the investment.
A great tool once you master the technique for closing the backs, be prepared to use quite a bit of force to get the back to click in place
I liked the sturdiness of this watch press. I have only used it twice but it worked fine both times. You have to make sure you use the correct size bevel mounts and the protective cloths. I could not have replaced the watch backs properly without it. My only slight criticism would be that the instructions could be a bit clearer but there are instruction videos on line.
A very good item. Just ensure, to use the correct discs, or the watch glass could be broken. Very efficient machine, with a positive click, when watch back engages.
Good value for money, easy to use, feels a solid build,.
Arrived promptly, does the job it was intended for. Very pleased with my purchase
This kit is brilliant I have replaced the batteries in all of my watches it has saved me a fortune as one shop I went to in the past charged me 25 to replace a battery in an Omega watch and it never kept time afterwards I have now changed it myself and it keeps perfect time.
Pre story … I one it before with hand’s .. just smugged it when i was doing it ive managed to brake front glass to my Mrs armani watches. So it costed me about ~90 for glass and 35 for battery.
Nowadays i bought this press and done battery replacement myself.
Trick is this press doesn’t press in the middle but on the side feels solid tool that will last forever. Only would be amazing if that hadle would have some lock , so it doesn’t force it’s up all the time . Happy with my purchase and would definitely buy it agai
After changing the battery in sons watch I couldn’t get the back to fit back on. Once I had the tool it took all of 5 seconds to replace the back. It’s robust and easy to use.
As long as you remember the golden rule. .please make sure the cup that the watch face is lying on is larger than the glass, so that is actually resting on the mental part of the watch face and the cup pressing down on the back cover is smaller than the cover itself…I got the product out of the box and fixed my back cover within 10mins of it been delivered…I’m very happy!!
Watch back press , it works , put a new battery in my wife’s watch it lay for a month unused as I couldn’t get the back on again , bought this and 10 seconds later wife is wearing her watch again , happy wife , I would give it 10 stars if I could , it just works .
This tool is a must for press on backs of watches. The various sized cups accommodate most standard watches. Very simple and efficient in use.
Easy to use. Make sure the discs sit on the watch frame and not the glass. Simple.
Struggled with closing the case even with you tube sugestions. opened the box, didn’t need instructions except to ensure the washer was on the case not the glass. Clicked on within 2 secs
Excellent does the job
Bought for one particular watch that I just couldn’t get the back to stay on after replacing the battery. With a bit of fiddling, to find the right size of plastic insert I managed to close it without damaging the watch. I am sure with a bit of practice I will find this easy to use. Already have the watch repair kit from the same manufacturer. Pleased with purchase and would recommend. Only have to replace two batteries and I am in profit.
Very pleased with this. Works perfectly. I purchased the upgraded version and am glad I did. The watch clamp, back popper etc are great and worked perfectly with some watches I was having trouble getting the back off (and then on again).
Follow Steve’s advice with regards to putting backs back on without breaking the glass of your watch.
“You need to select a disc that holds the watch by the metal bezel and NOT on the glass – if you use one that rests in the glass it will crush the glass – just look ti makes sure that it sits on the metal surround and you won’t have a problem.”
I was really struggling with a very tight watch back and no matter what I tried there was no way that watch back was snapping shut. I purchased this press, read the instructions carefully and then tried again to fit the watch back cover, 3 seconds later it was fitted. Great product and well worth the money
Well made, the various pressure cups (for the sake of a name) are screw on with a brass insert rather than press-on like cheaper versions. Noted that the spring makes a click when it is compressed and moves position but once you get used to this listening for the click of the case back fitting is evident. Works efficiently. Good value for money.
At last, after breaking a few watch crystals using home-made devices i now own a great watch closer. You get a large number( 20 I think) of assorted dies which covers a vast range of pop off backs, the dies have the size stamped on them. An absolute must to accompany case openers.
Worked perfectly. I’m not sure how people are breaking it. If you use the right size rings and protect the watch face you don’t need much pressure. Ive used it on about 20 watches to revamp them all with batteries and straps and had no problems. If I were doing full-time I’d invest in a heavier duty one but for hobby use it’s fine and robust enough even on huge watch faces.
Could not get the back on a watch using a number of YouTube methods for doing so without a press, so gave in and just bought this. Did it perfectly first time. Given I may not need it again for a while, chances are it’ll be chucked out on the next major garage clear-out along with similar single purpose tools. However, can’t really fault it.
This is a great watch press and I can see it would be useful to professional watch menders as well as home battery change tinkerers. Very sturdy and well made, and allowed me to press the backs on 3 watches with no risk to the glass. Each one went on with a satisfying click. Highly recommended.
Arrived today and I got straight on with sorting the watch that I had replaced the battery in yesterday and now all sorted. I have docked one star because as previous reviews I would prefer the discs to be softer and smoother so that I didn’t have to fiddle with the cloth. No instructions on how to use were included so thankful for Youtube. Overall good value for money and has saved me money in having to take it to the jewellers.
Takes a little bit of practice to get it to work properly. I found that it helped if the top die wasn’t screwed all the way on – but I guess that depends on the thickness of the watch. It sounds horrible when it closes, like the face has cracked, but the cloth and correct sized die prevent that – it’s just a loud SNAP as the back closes properly.
Wish I’d bought one of these years ago.
Whilst not the highest quality tool available it certainly does the job. I managed to replace two different watch backs from two makes of manufacturers fairly easily.
Just make sure you take your time and use the right size of attachments. Also be sure to use the included cloth’s to protect your watches.
Don’t force things too hard, a slight reposition of your watch might make things go a lot smoother.
Was a bit nervous when first hearing the clunk as the battery case clicks back on, thinking have I done the right thing, have I broken the watch. Relax – all fears put to rest and case back on nice and snug. For the cost of one battery replacement I can now do several watches over the years for the cost of a battery. Obviously some watches have screw backs etc so this just works on the flat back cases but very happy with results. Not sure if it would pass waterproof tests but simple solution take watch off when showering etc. Very happy with purchase.
I thought I was bad, I have a fair few watches, however most are automatic, my wife on the other hand has about 20 teeny tiny watches that I struggle changing the batteries on & replacing the backs.
This tool is great, everything you need is in the box. My only issue is the quality of the plastic cups, the edges are sharp & overall they’re just not finished that greatly. In part the manufacturer overcomes this by supplying 2 cloths, one for the front of the watch & another for the back. Due to this I’ve deducted 1 star
All in all, a good product, just a shame that they didn’t take the extra time removing the sharp edges
I could not get the back on to my Watch after changing the Battery….tried everything. Went to Repair Shop who said it would not fit despite them trying many times. Bought this Press and FIRST TIME without any Fuss the back to my Watch was installed. Well worth the Money despite its infrequent use.
Great product – used to complete a battery replacement on three different watches. I was able to replace the case backs within seconds (after failed attempts by hand and using a G-clamp) for less money than a single ‘professional’ watch battery replacement.
Instructions aren’t that helpful but this is easily resolved by using google/YouTube. I would definitely recommend this to make sure you are using the right size and to avoid potentially damaging the glass.
This is an excellent tool which will press on watch backs with ease when it’s not possible without a tool. However the instructions that came with it are useless for this tool. They mostly cover other tools. The one page covering this tool is actually incorrect. It implies using the soft cloth protects the face glass. In reality that just makes it harder for the tool to be effective. Using the correct size insert is the way to use the tool properly. You need to make sure the indent on the watch back surround is correctly positioned over the winder and with correct insert size this becomes a safe and easy tool to use.
The product I bought was the ‘Eventronic Watch Back Case Closer’ which is a specific tool to snap a watch back, back into place after battery replacement.
It is a very specific piece of kit, which works perfectly as intended. It is simple and straightforward to use, comes with a wide selection of plastic dies to fit most watches and includes a couple of soft cloths to protect the watch face when being used.
It is sturdy and well built – a quality item. I have used it a couple of times and it works perfectly. Makes putting the watch back, back on a piece of cake!
Not the sort of item that will be used much, however, when needed it is perfect for the job!
much to my amazement it worked I have been struggling with one particular watch (I collect watches and have several) for ages got this press out of box followed instructions-simple and easy tentatively and to my surprise it worked thank you very much
Saved my Bacon!
I have replaced several batteries in both snapback and screw back cases (I have the proper tool for this…)
But rashly promised to replace the one in a friends battered but much loved watch.
Back snapped off fine….but could I ever get it back on again?? Thumb pressure always worked for me-but not this time!
After selecting the right size dies (This is CRUCIAL! – google it if not confident) the back went on with 2 seconds gentle squeeze. Phew!
Moral of the story-
Use the right tools
Don’t promise to ‘fix’ other peoples watches!
I think with these generic press tools you may sometimes get one where the dies don’t line up parallel properly and these need to be returned. The gadget needs to be precise enough to apply even pressure. This one was.

Myself and the wife probably have 20 watches between us. Nothing really expensive. We both just like watches. I have always steered clear of jewellers and watch repairers because of the ridiculous prices they charge for a few minutes work. 4 of our watches have the snap on backs that are virtually impossible to replace without a watch back press. I looked at various ones before settling on this one. It has a good selection of press sizes for the front and back of your watch including some bigger ones that other press did not have. Also this is made of steel rather than aluminium. Heavier but stronger. I’m so glad I purchased this. Within ten minutes all my press on back watches were working with there backs firmly on. Doing two of my daughters watches at the weekend so easily paid for itself and more
Well, it worked well enough for me. There aren’t any detailed instructions, so here they are for future buyers:
1. Choose one of the screw-on disks that is just a LITTLE BIGGER than the FRONT of the watch and screw that onto the BOTTOM part of the press.
2. Choose one of the disks that is SLIGHTLY SMALLER than the BACK of the watch and screw that onto the TOP part of the press.
Note: it is best NOT to screw the disks up tight – a little play in them is okay because it allows them to adjust to the watch as they are brought together.
3. Place one of the pieces of cloth on the bottom disk.
4. Place the back of the watch into place on the watch, taking care to line up any indents such as the one where the winder might be.
5. Place the watch FACE-DOWN on the bottom disk, seating it as firmly as it will go.
6. Place the other piece of cloth over the watch back (without disturbing the watch’s position).
7. Gently squeeze the arm down, and the back should be easily pressed into place.
Worked first go for me.
Not the most highly-machined instrument I’ve used, but okay for the price and does the job. Could have been improved with non-slip pads on the base.
Had to buy a watch back press to replace the back of a watch to which I had just fitted a new battery. The reviews for this product were encouraging and that decided me, though I’m sure several others would be just as suitable. I cannot comment on the durability (only had it for 10 days) but I have successfully refit backs to two watches. A small booklet is included and illustrates how other watch repair tools operate – useful! For each watch I have reassembled it took me 4 or 5 goes to snap the back into position; I suspect that this may be due to my not selecting the best combination of base and top fittings and I’m sure I will improve. In any case, it takes me only 2 minutes to refit a watch back.
