What to consider when buying a nightlatch
Which size do I need?
Yale Nightlatches come in two different backset sizes that fit different door types.
Make sure you measure the door before you purchase one. The backset on a night latch is the distance from the centre of the keyhole to the edge of your door.

Just what I wanted to replace a faulty previous identical one. It works fine although the fitting instructions could be a little clearer as I seem to have fitted it with the key needing to be inserted anti-clockwise for unlocking.
Good quality, easy to install and additional Yale keys cut at my local locksmiths for the cost of three keys for 10.

Bought to replace night latch that did not deadlock.
With the right tools fitting the lock wasn’t too difficult to fit, and looks good.
Locating the two bolts that retain the lock cylinder was a complete nightmare. Involved a lot of swearing to get them to start.
Only supplied with 2 keys, surely that can’t be enough for any household, I would have thought 3 was the absolute minimum. Cost me 3.95 to get another cut.
Easy to install, good value for money and attractive. All parts came with it for fitting (screws etc) and was fairly good quality.

Used as a replacement for a similar model. The old one was past it’s best. Surprised the technology hadn’t changed! It’s a solid job that is reasonably straight forward to fit. More spare keys would have been nice. The supplier delivered quickly.
Fitted to my wooden/glass door, the dead lock means the door cannot be opened without a key, either outside or inside
I bought this lock to replace a lock of the same model which had lasted thirty years. The new lock was exactly the same dimensionally, so was a very easy fit to my door. If starting from scratch you will need some DIY skill or call in a handyman. The lock comes in dark grey (not brass as shown), so is unobtrusive on the door. All parts are heavy and the supplied screws are of good quality. The big advantage of the lock is that you can turn your key on the inside handle before closing the door, and then it is deadlocked, and can’t be opened even if some one were to punch through the door panel or glass.
This size of lock will fit the frame of a glazed door, so you should end up with a neat, secure lock. Why not 5 stars? Well, it feels a little sticky when I turn the key, and I hope that when the key wears a bit, the action will be smoother.
VERY substantial lock, put with a London bar over the lock body and one on the keeper to prevent punch out attacks it’s powerful! with a channel and rail on the outside to stop jam spreading it has a real F OFF look that encourages walk past to try another place? with a 5 lever mortice and a 3 star euro dead bolt on the same door I feel I can leave the place safely
Replaced my old No 1 after 45 years although it was still working well with just the very occasional key sticking point.New one in place and everything back to normal.
This Yale lock does the job well !
The only small problem I have found with it, is that when you try to put the catch up it doesn’t always work the first couple of times.
So be careful that you don’t think it has worked & lock yourself out.
But apart from that I love the double security lock on it & feel much safer than before.
It also looks classy, & I have teamed it up with black wrought iron handle, letterbox & lions head knockers !!
The Lock is very good and easy to use and above all you feel a sense security during the night.
Great product for an excellent price. Just a pity it wasn’t available in brushed chrome.
Had a 30 year old version of this lock, the brass was worn and the key wobbled (not bad after 30 odd years) so got this almost exact replacement. the lock fitted perfectly I could have left the original back plate on (but didn’t) so no messing about modifying to make it fit.
One thing to look for though the diameter or style of the barrel is slightly different so needed a bit of forcing to get it in my old and unique Italian door pull which the original Yale fitted perfectly, guess would be OK with a new pull, hence lost one star.

After intially being sent the wrong item contacted seller direct who promptly sent out the correct item and apologised so could not fault seller for that he went above and beyond to make sure I was catered for, the item its self carries the necessary BS number and Kite marked to cater for insurance requirements something that buyers should be aware of as it will invalidate your claim should you have a break in and locks are not to insurance standards, this item looks and feels quality and the chrome look makes it attractive to look at too. very pleased all round would definately use and recommend this seller .
Easy to fit and working well after 3 years with no problems and a quality feel to the mechanism
The one I bought was chrome plated. Looks good and was easy to fit. Feels very substantial.
Quality lock that is clearly well made and most suitable for the purpose.
Installation instructions were clear and easy to follow.
The only drawback I can mention is that it does not comply with BS 3621 – A standard which many insurance companies look for.
The Yale BS1 does comply with that spec, but costs a little more (Quelle Surprise).
Bought this by mistake, I thought it was a brass version. Kept it any way and used it on another door. Worked well and installation was easy.

Needed a lock exactly same as the one fitted 50 in B&Q saw this. delivered fast, fitted perfect would use again.
Fitted easily in place of the old lock and allows me to lock the handle from the inside. At first I thought it wouldn’t deadlock from the outside then found that I could lock it inside, then close the door after.
Should really have had one of these locks when I replaced the front door. Finally got fed up with unlocking and locking the door every time. My son found this lock on the internet. It was very reasonably priced, easy to fit and has made such a difference to opening the front door. I’d recommend it to anybody.
