Yale YSEM 520 EG1 safe.
Feels very solid and the door fits flush making it hard to pry open. Lots of room inside, and the shelf at the top is big enough for a couple of 13″ laptops. The door doesn’t have a knob/handle so it can’t be ‘bounced’ open like some cheaper safes. The only slight negative is the door sometimes catches the frame when opening due to it being a snug fit, but it doesn’t bother me personally.
The price was a bit more than I expected to pay but I feel the quality is a step up from my previous safe so I’m okay with that.

This safe is really robust. I read through the reviews before purchasing and the complaints of door alignment had me worried. There was really no need for concern. After receiving the safe and unpacking, I found a slight movement with my door. However, on closer inspection I found that there is a way to adjust the tightness of the door lock. If you look at my photo of inside the safe you can see two welded flaps. Insert a screwdriver under the flap and twist out so that you are making the angle of the flap larger. Don’t overdo it, make small changes until you are happy with the door fit. My other photos show top and bottom of the door, both are flush. There is absolutely no movement with my door and it now fits perfectly.

Safe is sturdy enough and all installed OK but the instructions are dire. I’m not the first to complain so come on Yale, pay for a technical authors time and get the instructions changed.

I bought this safe and I’m pleased with it. I must say at first I was disappointed with the instructions because it was a single sheet with limited information in lots of languages, but I did set it up ok. I also contacted Yale customer services to ask what would happen if the code was forgotten or if I pass away and someone else needed to gain access to the safe. Just send them proof of purchase and the serial number and they will assist. So now I’m happy with it and their service is excellent.

The safe is not as heavy as I thought it would be, considering it is the largest size. The delivery driver casually picked it up from the van and placed in our porch. Needs to be bolted to the wall for security. It can be unlocked with the key only, so if someone gets the key they can open the safe

Love this safe. Ordered 3 more for other family members and friends. It’s strong and feels secure. The key pad is battery operated but you get a key with it too so u can open the safe If the battery dies. It also has a 9 volt battery contact underneath the keypad so u can use any 9 volt battery to power the keypad and open the safe should the main battery die.
Beware it has two separate default code that you would need to change. The instruction doesn’t make it very clear. Also only one key.

The weight is pushing it for one person, but managed to put it in place an bolt to wall. The instructions for setting the PIN number could be easily, but got there in the end. Good size for general household stuff, bigg enough th hid at the bottom of the wardrobe.

Its great size wise, I can throw my whole handbag inside and still have space. The digital locking system is good with one back up manual key.
The down side is the door at the bottom does not sit flush when locked which is a little disconcerting as gives a edge that could more easily be attempted to prise open.
Overall it suits my needs but probably wouldn’t be happy to store a great deal of valuables inside. I’m using more to keep documentation safe.

Ordinata ieri pomeriggio, arrivata stamattina, sono stato gentile con il corriere me la sono scaricata dal furgone ma tutto ok. Ho preso la versione Non biometrica combinazione e chiave per me abbastanza; purtroppo in dotazione c’ una sola chiave. Il codice si programma bene ci sono le istruzioni in italiano e dentro le batterie nuove! E’ arrivata perfetta senza un graffio con la sua scatola che aim si vede il disegno del contenuto ma pazienza. Dotata di la luce interna anche lo sportello motorizzato come un cancello elettrico. Il rapporto qualit prezzo e giusto. l’unico problema… arrivata vuota senza soldi ma poi provvedo a riempirla . A parte gli scherzi mi sento di consigliarla magari presto per una recensione ma si presenta perfetta funzionale e robusta. Soddisfatto.

Piles donn dans la boite sont de trs mauvaises qualit. HS aprs une dizaine d’ouverture et je pensais que le coffre avait un dfault. De meilleures piles dans la boite serait une bonne ide pour viter la dsagrable surprise de penser que le produit a un soucis ! Merci

I would recommend this product as it is surprisingly good!
Sadly it arrived damaged with scratching to the outer case as it had been damaged in transit presumably by Amazon, which was disappointing. We had no option but to use it as we needed to install the safe urgently.
Points to note;
It was supplied with batteries (yes it came with batteries)
There is an internal light which is very useful
It has an illuminated digital display above the keypad
Poor quality fixing bolts – I would strongly recommend that you source your own fixing bolts as the ones supplied don’t match the quality of the safe and let it down. They weren’t suitable to provide a secure fixing into a concrete floor.
Remember to delete the factory default code! Concerningly, it remains in operation even after you have programmed in your new code!!!

Overall it looks very smart (apart from the scratches on mine!) and appears to be very secure.

Didn’t like that is was in a box that identified the contents for all to see. My neighbour took it in for me. Should of been better concealed.

Like that is does what I wanted it to do and easy enough to fit and set up.

I just installed my safe and took my time to order some extra bits to make life easier. Get yourself some 10mm long M4 bolts so you can fix the shelf in place (it already has holes drilled for you). I didn’t use the fixings provided either. I bought some penny washers and screwed through the bottom into the wood floor and then instead of using the bolts in the wall I bought some 10mm (M10) threaded rod which I cut to 15cm lengths and Fischer FIS VL vinylester mortar as my new build external walls are aerated block which is quite soft. This is designed for aerated brick and has given me a solid fixing into the wall but would not be suitable to hand the safe from the wall without support from underneath. You drill a 12mm hole and make sure you clean all the dust out by repeatedly using a blower and brush/pipe cleaner, then fill the hole 70% full with the FIS VL and insert the rod as you put it in rotate it as if screwing it into the wall. A couple of hours later it is rock solid and secure the safe to the wall with some M10 nuts (I used ones with a flat flange so no washer needed) and a bit of loctite threadlocker so it doesn’t work it’s way lose with vibration.

The safe seems well built and sturdy – no flex in the door like other models I have seen reviewed and comes with a level of certified secure. Only had it a few days so not sure of long term reliability. I do think the bolts for the shelf should be included but only cost a couple of quid. As others have said you have to be square on to see the screen but I can live with that. It really should ship from amazon in a plain box though.

Would I buy one again? So far yes, as long as I get many years of service from this one.

Was excited to get this safe on time, but due to some miscommunication with the distributors (not the reseller), I’ve deducted half star. The other half star deduction is due to the safe space inside being slightly (by about 2cm) smaller than I required. I have important paperwork that I’ve placed in the safe, but as its a little small, I’ve had to stand my paperwork up, increasing the placement of the inner shelf and thus, reducing the availability of space for the shelved items. Would have been better if Yale actually did some research and realised that a couple of centimeters would enable people to store important and irreplaceable paperwork properly without fear of damage.

However, that being said, the safe is definitely worth 5 stars. It’s modern, heavy, secure and makes one feel like a gangster storing guns and drugs. There is a key hanger on the inside of the door, a slide out tray on the top for valuables like passports, and an adjustable tray to suit your needs. I’ve managed to store all of my valuables with a little bit of room still. I’ve recommend this safe to my folks, folks in law and brother too. For 250, it’s worth the piece of mind. And for additional security, this safe also comes with secure bolts and screw plugs. I’ve yet to have them screwed in, but at 50kg, it’s difficult to lift as the safe surface is smooth and therefore, no grip available.
