Paid a little more and upgraded from Yamaha P45 to this. It was well worth it and will see me through my piano learning journey now. Check comparison articles online between the two for reasons why.
Also besser gleich weglassen bzw. optional gegen einen vernnftigen Aufpreis etwas Brauchbares mitliefern.
This is my first “real” electric piano so I was always going to be impressed but the sound and voices on it are excellent. Also, to go from a 150 keyboard to this is just amazing. Some day the action is better on others like the Kawai ES110 but for me, this feels amazing. Love my piano….. No regrets whatsoeve
Nice sound. Solid built quality. Loads of features. Value for money.
Really lovely sound. Feels just like a grand piano with the weighted keys. Beautiful sound on the Yamaha grand piano. A tad heavy but packs a lot of great features. Perfect budget stage piano
Very nice for a beginner even
Definitely worth the money
I’m really happy with this purchase. I think this is an excellent digital piano. It looks good, sounds great, and has a clean, compact design. I enjoy playing it every day.
Recommended by music teacher of my daughters music school. Semi professional good pice of kit for years to come.
Best of the cheapest if you take music seriously.
Excellent value for money. Does so much more than you would think
Amazing sound quality and easy to use. There are many features I am yet to try out. Sleek design also.
Love this keyboard. Partner and kids have been on this constantly for last 4 weeks since we bought it. Best price we could find. After a lot of research, felt the P125 was the best for our needs for beginners to transition to intermediate.
Sound is pretty good, but not quite as good as an enclosed electric piano. Very nice keys
Excellent action. I have only ever played uprights before, but the weighted keys feel so responsive I feel right at home.
The main piano has a lovely tone for classical and baroque & there is an excellent bar piano option for playing boogie woogie and rock & roll.
I would recommend getting a better set of pedals. The sustain provided isn’t ideal.
Overall great value for money, and I am a convert to digital pianos.
I love this, I haven’t played since I was a teenager which is a ‘few’ years ago now. The P125 feels good, sounds good and has a few instruments/voices without being overly complicated to use. The price is very attractive too which makes this the most popular electric piano around.
A good Yamaha product, suitable for those starting to learn to play and those with intermediate skills. If you are happy with the technical spec and want something that is easily affordable then it would be suitable for any skill level. A good price and very quick delivery by Amazon.
This keyboard is everything I expected coming from Yamaha and so much more. My only grievance is that I ordered a white version.
For anyone who is a beginner or midium player, this low budget digital piano with usb midi is perfect and what an excellent piano feel; fully weighted keys and sampled sound quality are brilliant.
I love my new Yamaha P125.It is just perfect. I think it is false economy to go for a lesser model as the enjoyment to be had from a good quality instrument is exponentially so much greater. It will help spur me on to great things.Yamaha motorcycles and keyboards both add a bit of much needed pleasure.Stay safe on the bike, though.Buy and love it!
Firstly to say that the advert said White yet showed a Black example; what arrived was Black, not that I would have minded either way but slighty prefer Black.
I wanted a model with a nice feel and a good piano sound taht also supported recording to a digital music production package. I purposely wanted to avoid having too many options and gadgets that might distract me from trying like so many people to relearn during these challenging and sometimes isolated times.
The keyboard has a reasonably good weighted feel, good enought for a starter I think but it is not all that sensitive to touch but perhaps there are setting I can use to adjust this. The surface of the white keys is ok but lacks traction, again probably not an issue for starters. Sometimes I am finding that when I strike a key it dies not depress enough to sound but I think that is more my rusty technique (or lack of!) than an issue with the keys. So overall the keyboard is about what I expected after consulting numerous online reviews.
The piano sounds are good but I don’t think you’d confuse them for a real piano. There are some strange overtones when I play middle C and the E in the next octave up but I tend to be very fussy about sound, I don’t think this would trouble many people. The inbuilt speakers and amp are loud enough to hear but not to feel, they do a reasonable job but the tone is better through a good pair of headphones.
There are a few other sounds for electric piano, organ etc, I don’t want to become too concerned with these just yet but I was surprised how good some of them sound on first hearing.
I bought the matching stand which is quite heavy and of good quality, but as the piano body is quite deep my knees won’t fit under, I am 6ft 2 inches tall. I also bought the three way pedal cluster which works fairly well, though the ‘soft’ pedal is not very pronounced.
In conclusion I am happy with this and glad that I bought it. There seems to be a huge demand presently so prices are elevated and the much cheaper option of buying from a German company is apparently no longer permitted. I spent ages looking at other options in this price bracket and narrowed it down to this or the Kawai 110. If I make good progress then hopefully in a year or so I might upgrade but for now this is a lovely instrument to have available.
Came well packaged. I love there being 88 keys for music that requires more than small versions. The weighted keys are a dream and help feel more like an acoustic piano. I mainly play just the piano sound but, when in combination with strings it’s another world. I have not yet explored all it has to offer but, I am pleased with the unit as a whole, and have played it more than any other I have had. At the moment, I have it on an X stand with not problems.
So far We enjoyed it. Easy to use. Perfectly fit for the stand table. Will recommend to my friend.
I love piano. It’s a gorgeous device so well built and came in such a such well protected packing. After doing lots of research for a beginner’s piano that wasn’t too expensive to start with or too cheap- this one is perfect as it has 88 full hammer keys, sound is great, have multiple instrument support.
Just what my daughter needed for her piano lessons. Perfect size and great sound.
Good sound, nice action, Good quality and very fast delivery. Great value
Love this piano. Good sound and high quality of the product.
I upgraded from an NP 32, and that was a good beginners electronic piano. But this is even better, better sound, better keys, and with my Ipad, more functionality.
Well worth the money for this quality piece.
Doesnt look much. Hard to connect to with a computer.
Speakers are ace, fool you into thinking it’s a good piano you’re playing.
Keys are ok, just I know the bounce of real hammers isnt there, but as good as you can get I believe for this price point.
Play along was an awesome surprise, the accompanying chords are automatic and ultra accurate, like playing with a track or band, whatever tune you are playing. Impressive.
Ultimately, I bought this because of the Yamaha name, ultimately it didn’t disappoint.
Yamaha is a name of quality, its sound is really awesome. It almost feels like a real one but with acceptable price and adjustable sound volume. You will never make your neighbors angry with the practice, because you could just have the headphone on.
No midi entry. No number indications of any kind for the metronone. No transpose button and the speakers could be better.
Just taken up re learning the piano, I’m 61. Last had lessons when I was about 10. It’s a really great electric piano. The sound & feel could not be better for me. It is very portable & doesn’t take up anywhere near as much room as an acoustic piano. I can put headphones on & practice away without disturbing my neighbours. Superb value from Amazon. Have seen the same advertised for over 500 elsewhere.
I boght this for my grandsons to practice in our house
It sounds excellent – like a good quality normal piano. It has the advantage that it is light enougg to move round easily but to call it portable is a bit of a stretch. It will not need regular tuning like a normal piano.
Why didnt we buy one of these for my Son to start with? it has the right feel to the keys and the real sounds, it is also great how you can link it to your Tablet and such. Since playing on this Piano my son’s lessons have come on leaps and bounds.
Weight for handling portability. However, this is my only criticism. I am delighted with the piano. It meets everything regarding value for money. It is what it is a really good instrument which I am delighted with.
I think it is a lovely digital piano. The keyboard is a joy to touch and the sound it superb.
It has a number of voices but the focus is on quality rather than quantity.
It is a full scale keyboard and it is weighted in a special way to simulate classic mechanical pianos. I am not a professional to be able to tell how well does it match the classic pianos but it is clearly a very nice device.
The piano would be best accompanied by a specially-designed table (L-125). Also, it supports a three-pedal module (which assumes you are using that table).
Little disappointed as I’ve noticed that there is a slight whine when I press down on one of the keys. Not a big enough issue to return it of course but still mildly annoying.
Having made a living from music for a decade or too. I’ve used many portable ( and not so portable digital pianos )
over that time for performance and recording. The P125 may not be the pinnacle of Digital pianos in terms of sound and keyboard action but for this price point, I don’t believe anything else can touch it ! It’s simply great fun to play and easy to use. The action on the Roland’s may be a little better and the sound of the Kawai a little better but the P125 has my vote ( having using most of the DP’s currently available at this price point ) . It’s just fun out of the box and the free Smart Pianist app is wonderful. 5 stars. It’s an instant classic in my view. Love it !
Very good product for those that want to start taking piano lessons or wants a good product with a good price
Great sound exactly like acoustic piano. Perfect for my 9 years old.
Researched various options, and so glad I just paid slightly more for this. Was looking at various cheaper options, but this is just perfect for me. I learned piano while a teenager, and gave up more than 20 years ago. I wanted something decent, but not too expensive to pick it back up. It sounds great, works wonderfully with the iPad (the chord tracker app is outstanding, as well as their Smart Piano app), and would highly recommend.
I like this piano very much.
Sound is very clear, soft and has several modes.
Superb lower-end machine. Excellent sound and although will always sound digital its piano sound is fine. Keyboard pretty realistic. Great for practice : record one hand and playback while filling in other hand. Much improved from piagero and p45. Seems well built. Very happy with purchase and worth paying this much.
I decided to learn to play the piano and this digital piano was highly recommended on a number of sites.
I play through headphones so as to not disturb the neighbours and the sound is excellent.
It as a good number of sensible features and sounds and I feel it is very good value for money.
In the long term and providing I get through the exams, I will look at upgrading it in a couple of years, but for now, anything more expensive would not have been sensible.
(Update)
Having owned the piano for a year and a half, I have become aware of how hard it is to play towards the back of the keys, due to the short pivot length. Although I’ve avoided hand injury up to now, playing exercises towards the back of the keys, could easily lead to tendonitis or other issues, so care is required.
Still at the beginner/intermediate stage of learning to play the piano, this keyboard is perfect for that and I’d say accomplished advanced players would be making it come alive, and it’s completely portable, suitable to take it on gigs. The stand is bought separately. The sustain pedal that comes with the keyboard is rubbish and you’d eventually want to buy a better quality one.
As a beginner this piano provides all that is required for me to learn effectively.
great keyboard, I’m a beginner but I use it all the time and it’s grea
This is my first electronic keyboard, but I’m TOTALLY happy with my purchase.
Bought as I was working away from my beloved piano (I’m intermediate standard), and it fits on the back seat of my car (a Golf)
The touch is surprisingly good. Even more impressive is the resonance you get with the pedal pressed…it’s not quite a real piano but it’s amazingly close.
I like the different settings, even the fact there are not that many of them. It’s not too gimicky, but I actually prefer piano variable 1 to the default piano setting, which sounds a bit synthesised to me in the higher registers. These are really well selected variables, like I said there’s not many, but they’re all very well done.
Yup, definatley five stars, really impressed, love it!
This piano is superb. The sound and touch are far more than I expected. Having played a traditional piano for 60 years I was reluctant to move to a digital, but I’m so glad I did. Brilliant piece of kit.
The sound is very realistic, not just on the piano voices but all the other instruments too. I am particularly impressed by the choral voice. My only niggle is that all the piano voices are similar (grand piano sounds). I was hoping for a more brighter upright sound on one voice for jazz and rag-time pieces. The feel of the keys is very close to the real thing, considering the price of the instrument. Definitely good value for money. It is quite heavy and bulky so not brilliant for moving around.
For the price, this piano has very good sound quality; realistic weighted keys; and enough different sounds to keep you entertained. Has the simple features like record and you can change the features like weight and pedal sustain easily. The only fault is the pedal supplied is a bit naff but you can easily replace cheaply.
The tone is superb and the keys are beautifully weighted to give a professional feel. There are a good range of effects and instrument sounds without being over complicated, so it would be good for a beginner who would have a first class piano keyboard without having to worry about the technical workings. It is a solid well made instrument, but would be portable enough if required, although it is really better kept in a static place. Delighted with it.
Perfect for me to learn piano. Love it to bits.
An absolutely amazing buy, for me. First decent piano I’ve ever had. A guitarist for 47 years and I simply love this instrument. If anything has a sound to inspire me to learn to be at least an ok piano player, then it’ll be this instrument. Beautiful sound, and it’s so well built. Highly recommended.
Good all rounder – versatile and uncomplicated. Above average sound with a close to real piano feel. Short of going for the real thing, this is a more than adequate substitute. Real Pianos can also have a huge range of feel, tone and action. Some cheaper models well below what the P-125 can produce. If you are a pianist already, the P-125 will support your technique, touch and musicality.
I was pleasantly surprise how I liked using it for all my music needs.
Wow!! This machine is incredible.
I have to say the best thing for me is the stereophonic optimiser.
It really does make playing through headphones a dream.
I highly recommend this piano to anyone.
Delighted with this piano. Im no expert piano player but the P125b sounds great. Its actually larger than I thought but looks great. Very happy overall!
I bought this to upgrade my gigging keyboard (yamaha P-45).
In every way this is a step up – better sounds, slightly better touch, the important buttons are visible and easy to use, and the app looks great. I don’t have an Ipad so i’ve not used it yet (wish there was better support for Android and Windows devices) but I am excited at the prospect of saving custom layers to spice up my set.
I also have a full sized Clavinova at home, and was delighted that most of my favourite sounds (bass+cymbal, vintage e piano) are here 🙂
I was also considering a Roland FP, as I’ve always loved the Roland action (it’s a bit heavier), but I’m glad I got this.
You need to get the midi lightening connector but once you have that connecting your iPhone or iPad is immediate. You can play any tunes on your device through the P125 and adjust the volume through the device. You can also play backing tracks or similar from iReal and tunes from apps such as Speedshifter. I have had a Yamaha DGX but this is much better with this capability. It is also lighter and less complex than the DGX.
One day delivery meant that I got to enjoy it almost immediately. It’s an excellent piano. Still exploring all the functions (and there are many). Happy so far with the performance and definitely recommend it.
This is a very good mid-range keyboard from Yamaha. The feel is good and the sounds are sharp and in some cases (piano, strings) excellent.
The P-125 weighs a lot less than my old P90 (11.8 kg as opposed to 16.9 kg) and is stylishly presented in either black or white. To access some of the rhythms and sounds, the actual keys are employed whilst holding a master button such as rhythm or metronome. A printed guide is supplied, which is necessary as there are many settings.
I’m a little disappointed that there are no chorus or phase effects for the electric piano sounds and there is no acoustic guitar sound (although, to be fair, I don’t miss that.) As a fairly light-weight, yet solidly built piano to gig with, the P-125 takes some beating.
One of the best entry level 88 key piano as of 2018. Though I’m not a musician myself, I did a lot of online study and even the kid’s music tutor corroborated.
Sounds fantastic and the weighted hammer action feels is great. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the market for a top quality digital piano, portable or not this piano has an amazing sound and feel.
I thought that this replacement for Yamaha’s P-115, was a pointless upgrade. However, now that I own one, my tune has changed.
In the box, there should be 1 x Yamaha P-125 digital piano, 1 x plastic music rest, 1 x owners manual, 1 x mains adaptor and 1 x plastic sustain pedal, plus warranty registration information and a fair amount of polystyrene!
Compared to the P-115, the touch is about the same; still fairly light, with the same matte finish on the black keys. Some would place Yamaha’s GHS below that of Roland’s PHA-4 and others in this price range, in terms of likeness to a real acoustic piano. In some aspects, I would probably agree, but the feel is still great and the GHS system is good enough for most players. The sound seems to have been improved; the new two-way sound system really replicates the richness of an acoustic piano, plus the top speakers appear to produce a brighter and slightly more crisp sound compared to the P-115, without surrendering the low end. But as normal, you will get the best sound when you put the keyboard through an amp or headphones.
There are 10 more sounds than the P-115, including some from Yamaha’s vintage synthesizers. Some would say that this doesn’t mean much, but for me, it does. Having 24 sounds makes it more comparable to others in the price range, plus it means that there are more opportunities to create different layered sounds. For me as a composer, sampling a keyboard is always great and in my opinion, the sampling in Yamaha’s P series is better than that of Kawai and others in the price range, certainly in terms of piano, Rhodes and DX. There are more rhythm patterns to play along to, but the ‘Pianist Styles’ feature has been removed from the P-125. This is where the piano would turn the chords played by your left hand, into an accompaniment pattern, leaving your right hand to play the melody. The keyboard is still as slim and as light as before, meaning that it can be moved or transported with minimal fuss.
My only issue is with the fact that Yamaha don’t seem to provide staggering or necessary changes when releasing new pianos. For example, the GHS system, while good, is fairly dated and the keys, while nice in feel, still lack the ivory coating needed to replicate a real piano more closely. Plus, there is still no chorus effect or Bluetooth connectivity and the Smart Pianist app is still limited to iPad/iPhone. Luckily for me, I wouldn’t use the app or Bluetooth anyway, but for others, it may be different.
Considering that I paid less than the price for the replaced model, I think that overall, the package is a great deal. The best thing about this piano is how it sounds; it really promotes expressive playing. If you are a beginner, important things will be the weighting and likeness of the hammer response to that of a real acoustic piano, and I think that Yamaha’s GHS does well in this area.
Definitely recommended.
