I bought this thinking it wouldn’t get all the garden done with just one battery but it easily gets through it all with plenty power left. The motor is far faster than my petrol one was and seems to power up when the grass has more demanding bits. It’s light weight and easy to maneuver round the planters and shrubs. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to switch from petrol or dragging a cable round a garden.
I returned the item for refund without using. It’s a quality item; everything seemed well made and assembled easily, but the lightweight plastic body flexed and I just didn’t have the confidence that it would last? Would probably suit a smaller lawn area but not for me.
This was recommended by a number of friends and boy were they spot on. I wish I bought this years ago. So easy to use, very light and as a bonus it completely folds so doesn’t take up much space in the shed
Very happy with the mower, but the battery charger has ceased charging after 8 charges, after a loud crack and a blue flash from the side of the unit.
I bought the the mower with the battery and charger 26/5/23, no reply to my emails from yard force!
What a fantastic bit of kit! Had to get my thinking cap on to assemble it, but it really was not hard to build at all. The battery was fully charged so I took it straight out to mow my very long, wet grass. It is a pleasure to mow without an electrical flex to get in the way. It made light work of the lawn on the highest setting with a quarter charge left on the battery. Will give you an update when the grass dries out a bit and I can give it a shorter cu
Wanted to venture into a battery mower without breaking the bank. Had a really old petrol one that was in the way out so after much reading reviews went for this one. Was not disappointed. Simple to assemble (despite limited instructions) left my 11 year old son to do it and was ‘easy’ apparently. Get a couple of cuts out of our medium lawn from single charge (as long as not too long as that shortens mow time). Really simple to use, cuts well and sooooo much lighter than the petrol one. Great little mower that didn’t cost 500
The mower was quite easy to assemble until it came to the grass box. The instructions should tell you that you have to remove the mulching device before the grass box can be fitted.
Really light weight, easy to use and good battery life. Does create lines if that’s what you want, our only slight criticism is it doesn’t cut as short as we had expected from the right up.
I wish I’d bought a cordless mower years ago, as it’s such a relief not having to worry about extension cables and cutting through the wire. I think I was concerned that it wouldn’t be as powerful as a mains-powered mower, but this one is just as effective as any I’ve had in the past.
The assembly is a bit fiddly, but not too bad. The handle is adjustable for height and can fold down when not in use. There are seven height settings for the actual cutting blade and this is simply done with a lever on the left hand side of the body. Once it’s assembled and the battery is fully charged, it’s operated like most electric mowers by pressing in a button and then pulling a grab handle towards you. I’ve gone from a hover mower to this one which is on wheels and I much prefer the wheeled type: it’s just a case of walking up and down and it gives you stripes on the lawn if that’s what you’re after.
I’ve found the battery life to be very good: I can do both my front and back lawns on one charge if the grass is not too long – I’m not sure what the area is, but it’s been going for about 45 minutes and still has some charge left. You can tell how much charge is left by pressing a small button on the battery and up to four green lights come on. I invested in a spare battery, so that there’s always one ready to go, but the batteries are a bit pricey, so it’s up to the individual and how much grass they’ve got to cut. Changing the battery is really simple: just lift up the flap on the battery compartment, press the release button and the battery pops up a little way out of its housing. It then fits into the mains charger which is provided. Once it’s charged, just slide it back in and press until it clicks into place.
There is a decent sized grass box which lifts on and off, or a mulching tool is provided if you don’t want to keep emptying the box. I have never used this, so I can’t say how well it works.
It’s quite a substantial machine, not the lightest, but there is a carrying handle. It’s great on the flat and with slight slopes, as long as you cut across the slope and not up and down.
All in all, I’m delighted with the mower and would recommend it for anybody with a small to medium-sized lawn.
Very good mover i love it from first move cuts well collects grass like vacuum hoover nothing leaving behind can’t coment about strips to early to say just in process to renovate a garde
This lawnmower is perfect. I used it on a whole new lawn (from seed) pictures are the lawns 2nd cut. It’s cut it perfectly!
Yes assembling it may be a little bit of a hassle, to get the bag right, the handle bars etc, with instructions not great at advising. But spend a bit of time and you will have a great lawnmower that cuts great, can easily be stored and created lovely stripes too!
Has a great little key accessory to take out- so you can lock the lawnmower (so the kids can’t use/ injure themself when you go to get a drink etc)
I’m a little unsure about charging as it didn’t last too long, but I probably didn’t charge it fully and I was going super slow.
Obviously cordless is so worth it too. Amazing.
It fills up pretty quickly, and you’ll want to ensure the battery is charged before use.
But keep an eye on those two things, and this is a great lawnmower!
We have a large lawn so 37cm blade or next one up needed.
The Bosch 37cm mains unit is a heavier mower and slightly more difficult to turn around.
I am now using the Yard Force, but also purchased a 4Ah hour battery.
This is used in our garden and my mothers.
So for those interested in battery times: the 2.5 Ah battery will run for 30 minutes being brand new!
I can cut 200 square meters in that time. Hence we needed a larger 4Ah batt which goes the distance for about 1 hour or 400 Sq Metres.
We noted some comments about battery power:
Li Ion batteries loose about 1% of their charge with each passing year.
If th emower cuts out, thi sis becasue one of the cells has dropped below its recommended volatge.
Do not keep trying to get it to run or you will destroy the battery. Recharge it!!
Don’t leave the battery fully charged when not in use for long periods of several month.
Do you own homework on Li Ion degredation and properties.
Only 1 negative:
I am much more familiar with LiFePo4 batteries for running the home over night (solar set up here).
Wish they would all switch to LifePO4’s for power tools. So much safer.
Overall:- Totally in love with this Yard Force mower and its 40v power level in our garden.
This is an excellent lawn mower. The battery life is very good. I have cut my grass 3 times and there’s still 2 bars on the battery. I have a fairly big lawn . No more tripping over electric cables. Makes mowing the lawn so much easier and does a great job. Its also very lightweight and easy to put together. Would highly recommend
This lawn mower is very quiet and also cuts the grass amazingly to what height you like it I cut on 2nd setting I do think the lawn mower is quite heavy but I am okay with that but it will probably be no good for someone that can’t lift but apart from that I am very happy with it battery is enough to cut my front and back no problem on 1st full charge
I don’t normally write reviews for anything I purchase online but after having had a bit of a nightmare with my previous lawn mower, I felt compelled to share my experience using this brilliant piece of kit.
Firstly, it’s true what others say; the ambiguity of the instructions make it a bit a of a head scratch at points when it comes to installation. That however is my only criticism.
The cut is really consistent and the mower is also really easy to manoeuvre. I have a small lawn but I can see how this would be really useful on a bigger one.
The action on the cut height is really easy and smooth to use. The mower itself is really strong, looks great and the grass collector is generous in size. It is also easy to attach / detach. I have already attracted lawn mower envy from a couple of my neighbours!
As a customer profile of having wrestled with a basic Flymo (which was actually wrecking my grass with every cut), I went for this because I wanted a solid mower that was a) cordless and b) up to the job of handling dips. I just wish I’d bought this the first time around.
Was a bit sceptical about the battery life after reading some reviews, but as most were positive, I got one. So glad I did. Assembly was easy, 10 mins max. The mower is easy to use, lightweight to manoeuvre, the battery life is is excellent. You can see the size of our garden and 4 cuts and the battery is still over half. The battery indicator button is really useful.
Most mowers in this price range do not include a roller, which I wanted as my last Bosch one did.
Build quality seems high, assembly instructions were not 100% but is was pretty easy to work out.
In summary, a great mower, easy to use, good battery life and great value for money. 5 stars..
Straight out the box super easy to assemble. Seems a solid enough piece of kit. Having said that it is still lightweight and manoeuvrable.
I haven’t cut my grass for ages as the petrol mower is a sensitive little biatch. So I was keen to see how it did in about the toughest conditions my garden would ever get.
This little beauty carved through it all. I have areas under my trees which are a bit roughno problems. Nice stripes as well. Used 2 bars and I seemed to be at it for a while. Two cuts front and back.
Folds down nicely- and easy to set up.
I honestly can’t speak highly enough of this. Seems cheap for the quality.
Easy to assemble took 15 mins and the battery was fully charged by the time it was assembled
Cut my lawn in 10 mins approx 130 m2
I’m only 5 ft but the handle can be adjusted
Nice and light to manoeuvre and so easy to use with no cable to worry about
Sturdy grass box
Absolutely delighted with my purchase
I never write product reviews but relied on them when looking for a mower that didn’t fill me with dread everytime I thought I had to cut the lawn. But this model is perfect. Easy to assemble, battery charge does my front and back lawn with more to spare and the variable cut heights are really great.
This mower is lightweight and powerful. It cuts the lawn beautifully. I have about 280 square metres of lawn and one battery charge completes the task with no problems. It will cut longer grass and seems to pickup power to do this. This product is brilliant for the price, I am very pleased. It is worth saying that when you unbox the mower there is a mulcher inside which should be removed before mowing with grass box attached.
I am really impressed so far with this lawnmower and how it performs. To be fair I have a smallish lawn ( 200 m2) so I am not pushing its capacity. It is replacing a corded qualcast mower that was good, but was getting on a bit. This new mower feels solid but not heavy and the height adjustment is very easy to use. The cut is great and the roller does give a stripped effect ( but is never going to be as effective as a heavy petrol mower ). The collection box works effectively, ( I normally have two box empties to do each time).
The initial mow I did at a high setting and then did another at a lower setting. Subsequent mows have been at a low (but not lowest) setting. After a mow the battery is still showing 3 bars.
So why not 5 stars ? Well it should be, the supplier has let themselves down on one thing, that is easily corrected. Whilst there is not much to do to set the machine up , the diagrammatic instructions are confusing and the diagrams so small they are not much help. I am still not sure I have set up the cables correctly but it seems to work. I fortunately spotted the mulch device when I was fitting the collection box, this isn’t even mentioned or shown in the instructions!
The strangest thing is Yardforce have almost overcome this deficiency but not quite !!! On the box there is a QR code that appears to take you to a set up YouTube video. If it did that would be great (5 stars), and you could ignore the diagrammatic instructions. The reality is it takes you to a general advertising video (one I had already found on YouTube).
Yardforce; just change the video and this would be an excellent purchase !!
I’ve only used this mower once but I love it – it’s so easy to use . I can’t really comment on the battery as it’s still brand new but I used it for about 30 minutes and there was loads of power left I understand you should charge this type of battery and not let it run down I’m very happy with my purchase and it’s cut my lawn beautifully will very little effort.
As ever with these things, battery life just isn’t up to much.
Bought this 37cm 40 volt mower 6 months ago in April. Assembly fairly easy – took about 25 minutes. I discovered a large mulching plug in the box, but strangely, I could find no mention of it in the instructions. Charged battery for an hour. I have 3 lawns, all have wavy edges, which of course adds time to any mowing. There are 2 smaller lawns of 70 sq. metres & 85 sq. metres, both on flat ground. The third is 295 sq. metres on a very slight slope. It took me 9 minutes to mow the 70sqm lawn, but then the weather took a turn for the worse, so I brought the mower in & charged the battery. Two days later I managed to mow nearly all of the large lawn in 39 minutes before the battery ran out. After a 1 hour charge, I finished the large lawn & mowed the 85 sqm lawn & still had 2 lights showing on the battery. Although I’m no spring chicken & have some serious health problems, I found the mower very light & extremely easy to manoeuvre. The design & position of the handle is perfect for me, allowing single handed use in awkward places. It cuts well & stripes ok, although my large lawn is now pretty bumpy because of the hard, dry summer. Height adjustment is a breeze. The bag holds a lot & once I got used to it I had no problem positioning it back on the mower. I was a bit worried having seen some negative reviews regarding battery power & assembly, but I had none of those problems. I bought a second battery which was on offer & recently mowed all 3 lawns in 2 & a half hours including cleaning the mower twice & a quick cup of tea! Previously, the same job with an electric mower was taking me double the time, & I was struggling to cope with cables, extension leads & circuit breaker & eventually had to get my poor other half to do it. Now, I can do it myself! UPDATE: It’s April 2023 & although a lot of reviewers recently seem to have had problems with this mower or the batteries, I am happy to report that after mowing my three lawns twice this month, both my batteries held their charges over winter & gave 39 & 36 minutes use. Still very happy!
