Edited to add: the company contacted me and were very helpful, offered to replace the microscope.
Was okay, but the bottom light broke on the first day making it unusable so had to send it back.
Parfaitement emball, il est arriv rapidement dans une palette bien protgeant.
Utilisation simple pour un novice. Je recommande
Excellent binocular microscope. Binocular eyepieces are easier to focus and have better observation thus reliable results. The LED light option is suitable for observing opaque objects, such as fabric or leaves, flowers, etc. The interpupillary distance can be flexibly adjusted according to desired needs. The quality of products is super good and the price is approved.
Things review is for the 40X-1000X Binocular Microscope for Adults, Lab Compound Microscope Dual LED Illumination with Microscope Slides Wide-Field 10X & 25X Eyepiece Phone Adapter for Teaching Lab Hobbyist Applications
Things I like about this microscope:
– Comes with 10 sample slides with a variety of ‘life’ on it
– Up to 1000x magnification
– Can adjust the eye width on the microscope
– Has a phone adapter for taking photos with a phone
– Two power supplies which is convenient when travelling (Battery not included)
– Provides a petri dish, and many other helpful utensils
– Comes in an easy to travel case
– Quite a clear image
Things I dislike about this microscope:
– Manual is not very helpful when it comes to how to use the microscope to its fullest extent
Overall, this microscope is great for beginners to use though it may be confusing at first due to unclear instructions.

If there was a simple aperture installed, we could achieve proper Koehler illumination, but it still can produce a reasonable light level.
It would have been nice to have included something to touch on proper Staining, it is an important factor in identifying specimens.
And option for oil immersion objective lenses would really have impressed me.
At 1/5th the price of a higher end Microscope, the build quality is actually really good. The knows feel a little flimsy, but how often am I going to be rough with that.
This is a really good purchase at this price point.
This is a good introductory microscope for a budding young scientist. It comes with a padded case for storage. There are 15 slides included – 10 are already prepared for you to explore.
The microscope has two eyepieces – 10x and 25x. I was unable to get the The interpupillary distance of the eye pieces adjusted correctly for my eyes and struggled to get things to focus correctly. When I looked through with just one eye open I was able to see things clearly.
There is a cell phone adapter that is a nice addition to this microscope. It allows both my children to see things at the same time as well as take photos. The suction cups on the adapter didn’t stick well to my phone.
There are various settings you can adjust to make your slide viewing more clear. Take some time to experiment with them to make your viewing experience better.
Overview
Wow. As a biologist, I’ve used some pretty high end microscopes. This by no means is a high end microscope, BUT, for a starter kit it is more than sufficient. It comes with practice glass slides, extra magnification lenses, and cleaning supplies. The microscope itself is made of a hollow diecast and the platform and the adjustment knobs are made of a hard plastic. The brightness of the upper lamp and the lower lamp is good but the bulbs could be brighter for higher magnification levels. The coarse and fine adjustment feels decent although it could be smoother. Images are fairly clear and the adjustability of lenses are great.
Pros
– Tons of accessories
– Good magnification at all three levels
– Good image clarity on all three magnifications
– Test sample slides to practice on
Cons
– The overall feel of the microscope is definitely cheaper than what you would use in a lab but at this price it is expected.
– Knob adjustment could be much smoother
Overall
I would give this a 4/5 ‘s as it is a great starter kit for anybody to familiarize themselves with a microscope at a great price. I would recommend this to family and friends!
It’s not too heavy compared to the other well-built microscopes, but its build quality is still quite good, especially for the retail price range and the magnification specs. The adjustment knobs are inexpensive plastics that I worry would not be very durable. They are, however, very functional in the meantime, providing enough fine control to make fine tuning the focus.
While the included instructions are readable, and it does take some figuring out, or assistance from someone who has previous experience with microscopes.
The 1000x magnification is really only sufficient for casual learning & general interest use. While the focus is relatively sharp (enough to discern some fine details or smaller organisms), but the illumination level seems low compared to the “professional” grade microscopes that I’ve used before. However, it’s designed for casual learning & general interest use, so not surprised there. Please note that while it has both a top & bottom light, you can only use one of these at a time (i.e., either top-illuminated, or bottom-illuminated). Also, while there’s a brightness control, it only seems to have minimal range of effect (I find the view always seem to be on the darker side).
The distance between the two eye pieces can be nominally adjusted to fit different face sizes, but is limited so it doesn’t quite completely adjust to fit the narrow faces of my young niece & nephew. For me, with a small-to-medium face, it just fits at the narrowest adjustment range. Just beware of this if you decide to purchase it for your younger kids.
There’s also an attachment that allows you to attach a mobile phone’s camera (via suction cup) to take pictures of the specimen under view, but have not used it, as I wasn’t able to securely attach it, which made getting the phone securely steady and focus was very challenging.
Great microscope for the beginner as well as the experienced. I love that the neck turns 360 degrees, so you can show someone else the image without getting out of your chair. You can even use the cell phone adaptor to take photos of what you are looking at. It comes with everything you need including a carrying case, instruction manual, power adapter, or use 3 AA batteries, for upper and lower illumination, cell phone adaptor, 2 different eye pieces, 10 and 25 X, 10 specimen slides, 5 blank slides, as well as a Petrie dish cleaning cloth and a pipette. The image quality is quite good, as to be expected. Overall, a winner in my eyes. See what I just did there … lol. I hope this helps in your decision making.
This microscope arrived with multiple areas of cosmetic damage but otherwise, it has been functioning well and without any issues. When powered by my wall outlet, the microscope is able to provide adequate illumination for my specimen without generating excessive heat. Including the knobs, magnifying lenses, and the stage, the adjustable pieces on this microscope have been well maintained and require minimal effort to adjust.
Both adults and children can comfortably view through the microscope due to it’s adjustable binocular design. When properly focused, the feedback is clear and sharp. You won’t be able to connect this microscope to a computer to directly capture still images but you will be able to capture images with your phone’s camera using the mobile accessory provided. This accessory attaches to your phone lens and aids you to guide it to the viewfinder which will then allow your specimen to populate your phone screen.
Compared to the monocular microscopes I have used in school, this binocular microscope is definitely lower quality. The quality of this microscope isn’t as robust as the ones I used in the past and it is also lacking the ability to work with a computer. In particular, the hard plastic adjustment knobs are among other details that really cheapen the overall feel of this microscope. But given the hefty nature of its design, I still do consider this microscope a durable product.
This microscope is straightforward and intuitive to figure out. If you aren’t sure where to begin, you will be able to refer to an easy-to-follow user manual. Plugged into an electrical outlet or powered off by some batteries, the microscope will be ready to use directly from the box. With my order, I also received 10 prepared specimen slides along with 5 blank slides.
There is an adjustable interpupillary distance dial to control the distance between the 2 eyepiece tubes, which works fine but because of its wide minimum distance, this microscope is better suited for adults and older kids with larger faces. Although I have a larger-than-average head size, I still keep the binoculars close together with the interpupillary distance set to a near minimum. For my wife who has a smaller face than I, the bare minimum distance is still too far apart for her. Granted, she can only fit into children-sized hats as her head is smaller than average so the bare minimum distance between the lenses could be even closer for her. Having that said, it is more convenient and easier for beginners to use a microscope with 2 eyepieces instead of one (binocular vs monocular). The lens is good and there are 5 different levels of magnification with the lowest being 40x and the highest being 1000x. The images produced are clear and sharp. The fine/coarse adjustment knobs are easy to turn and allow precise control over fine-tuning the clarity of your image. There is a bottom light and a top light, but only 1 of the lights can be turned on at a time and there is also a brightness control knob to precisely control the brightness level. This microscope also comes with a phone attachment that allows you to attach your phone to the ocular lens and take photos/videos. The attachment uses suction cups to attach to your phone but it didn’t attach to my phone case well. The attachment is finicky, I have to hold the phone up because the phone attachment piece just hangs over on the ocular lens, which if left alone, the phone’s camera view will fall out of alignment with the eyeglass. But when everything is working perfectly, this phone attachment piece can be very handy; I’ve attached a photo for your reference. Currently priced at $159.99 with the included $30 off coupon, this microscope is priced reasonably. It may be more expensive with less magnification power than monocular microscopes, but it is easier for beginners to use. When not in use, the microscope and all of it’s parts can go back into the provided case for neat storing.
I had a hard time figuring out how to get this microscope to work properly. The instructions are not clear so you need to have some previous knowledge of how to use a microscope.
One of the main issues was that I was trying to use the top light but that light doesn’t work. Either top light is not bright enough, not pointing on the right spot, or both. The top light is useless. I thought the microscope was broken because everything was always all black. I took off 1 star for this.
The bottom light works great and what I needed to use. I was initially trying to zoom in on an opaque object (a sticker that I had in front of me) but the top light wasn’t working. I finally ended up using a small see-through (clear) orange LEGO piece. You need to have the bottom light turned on otherwise you won’t be able to see anything.
So, turn on the bottom light, put on a clear object on the platform, and turn the big knob until you focus in on the object. There are smaller knobs that are attached to the big knobs so that you can make smaller adjustments in height of the platform (for more specific focusing).
Once I figured the top light was useless I just kept on using the bottom light. I was able to zoom in on a piece of leaf once I figured this out. I don’t remember but I might have had to use a flashlight since the top light is useless.
The top piece where you look through can be rotated at least 180 degrees in either direction. I didn’t try to rotate it 360 degrees. If you rotate the lens 180 degrees then everything will show up upside down. I only know this because I was looking at the super tiny text on my LEGO piece.
The light can be powered by 3 x AA batteries or the power plug. Another issue I had was when I was holding the microscope in the air and jiggling the power plug around the light kept turning off and on. I don’t think the connection was secure. When I placed the microscope on a table the connection with the power plug seems to be secure. I’m not sure why though. Since I didn’t have an issue while the microscope was on a table I didn’t take off a star for this.
I didn’t try to use the cell phone attachment so I can’t comment on that.
One thing to note is that the platform doesn’t lower that far so whatever you put under the microscope has to be pretty thin.
I can recommend this microscope for home use for clear objects. It works pretty well. It doesn’t work well for opaque objects since the top light is not shining on the right spot. I think it would help more if you had a lamp or something shining down on the platform.
If you’re looking for a semi-professional inexpensive microscope, buy this! Nice quality, works extremely well, nice case! Only complaint is that the lenses don’t get as “close together” as some, so if your eyes are a bit closer together than normal, this may not work well for you. Beyond that, amazing.
The microscope is made of metal and therefore sturdy. It is great for children who are interested in science or for anyone who has a hobby or interest in biology . It is well packaged in a carrying case.
Arrived exactly as described & on time. After use I was quite pleased with the Clarity & ease of adjustments.
This is my first binocular microscope and this set has everything for beginners. I’m very excited to see the tiny objects close and fine. Overall, I think it is a great binocular microscope for beginners and the price is reasonable.
There are so many to choose from but this was just right for what I needed apart from an adjustment of the stage so I exchanged i
What I like about this is you can use both eyes the same time and see really fine details that you may not see when you’re using one to see, you see. I highly recommend my friend. Thank you. I hope my review was helpful for you. If it was let me know, by checking the box below. God bless you. May the rest of your life, be the best of your life. O Dee.
So I am just going to say it, I am nerding out over this microscope. Science is always fun and I mean who doesn’t want to look at things under a microscope? This is a awesome little scope it is made to last and when you touch and feel it you know it is professional. Me and the husband are armature mycologist and we grow our own mushrooms and make our own spore injectors. And this microscope does an amazing job at helping us identify particular spores and get a good look at spore prints. But this microscope has so many possible applications. First of all the price is really good for what you are getting. Because I have looked and Microscopes can be expensive. After all you do get what you pay for as the old saying goes but when it comes to this microscope you get way more than you paid for.
It is so simple and easy to set up. And the storage case will keep it safe and in good working order for a long time. The case itself has a foam insert that is cut to hold your microscope snug it has pockets for your accessories and special holes to place your different power lens. I love the different lighting options it has they give you the perfect and controllable about of light you need when looking at various samples. Speaking of samples the kit comes with a box of prepared samples for you to enjoy as well as some blank glass slides that you can prepare your own samples on, they are glass and as long as you clean them properly you will be able to use them over and over again. The kit also includes a culture tray with swab and a dropper to help you apply liquid to a slide without any mess.
Now onto the phone attachment. I have seen in other reviews where people were having a hard time getting their phone camera to line up with the eye piece and well It did take me a little while to get it but it does work great and I had no issues. If your phone is in a case it will be more difficult for the suction cups to grip your phone. But with a little patients you can align just about any phone camera up for some really great shots. The shutter bug that is included is a great addition to an already great kit. It pairs to your phone like any other shutter bug and allows you to take crisp clear non shaky photos of your sample so you can share it with your friends or colleges’. This is a very versatile easy to use microscope at a great price and it would make a great gift for the future scientist in your life or for yourself. I think you will be as pleased as I am with this Microscope. Now I am off to crack the mysteries of our biological world!
The microscope itself works well. I was let down by the accessories, however. To the good, the kit comes with a nice case and is capable of operating with batteries or a plug-in adapter for the stage lights. Those lights are switchable from over to under the stage meaning this will work with objects you wish to examine superficially. The kit includes a camera-phone adapter some lens tissues and a box of samples mounted on slides. One supplied slide is marked ‘human blood’ likely in violation of some health regulation but which does lend a Dexter vibe to the whole enterprise.
The sample received here has no instructions at all. I mean nothing. This didn’t turn out to be an issue for me since I’m familiar with casual light microscopy but it may be with others. Perhaps the full retail kit will be properly supplied. In the kit supplied here, the sample slides are poorly mounted and the phone mounting piece worse than useless.
I’ve included a photo taken with a prepared slide using the adapter. This is the best of dozens I tried. Most turned out to be full of glare and almost useless or actually useless. That’s because the adapter does not hold the camera lens next to the eyepiece. Instead, there’s a gap of several millimeters. Disgusted with the poor design, I put a few of our dog’s hairs on a slide and snapped an image by simply holding the camera up to the eyepiece. The results are 10x better than with the adapter. I’ve included that photo too by way of comparison.
My wife’s been using this extensively in the field at her archeological excavation where the battery powered upper stage light has proved its value again and again. So once again, I see a good product let down by poor accessories and in this case, not a smidge of directions that would provide the beginner with a chance at getting good results. This would make a good starter package for a youngster but only with an adult who can provide instructions. It’s also doing well on a job requiring casual adult level work where the decent optical quality is sufficient.
