I originally titled this review “Waste of plastic”. I still think it is dodgy putting it in packaging that needs to be torn open. Which I would think makes it extremely difficult to return unless faulty. But it eventually paired with my phone and the app installed. Quite good for 22 quid, but still think the strap design is poo
Brilliant quality for the price. Don’t expect strap to last too long though, it’s very soft and will split in time. Had to replace it after 9 months with a fabric one (from Amazon. Probably reviewed it). 5* otherwise and nice strap while it lasts.
Very accurate for the price too, but I knew this already from YouTube (guy who works in medical field who tests smart/fitness watches vs actual sleep testing equipment and ECG equipment. Can’t remember channel name).
Can’t fault this much at all after 14 months. Value for money? Absolutely.
Bought this for my boy as he keeps breaking the straps on other ones and I’m frankly fed up of paying the same for straps as I would for the darn tracker!
Shame it doesn’t show the sleep stats on the watch, so he checks my phone in the morning. Alexa only works with the app so that’s a bit lame.
For 24, it will do and my son loves changes the faces.
I’ve used FitBit in the past and always found it quite useful when I used Android but since moving to Apple in the last 5 years I’ve found FitBit redundant as it doesn’t connect well with Apple Health. Then someone recommended I look at Amazfit for something a little more Apple friendly and have been very impressed.
So what is great about this little device?
– The price. For all the features you get the price is staggeringly good. It has a heart rate monitor, oxygen level monitor, sleep monitoring, stress analysis, multiple fitness workouts and fantastic GPS tracking when connected to your iPhone. In addition it can connect to Strava, Apple Health and Adidas’ Running is awesome for 25, especially when you consider you have to pay around 50 – 80 for a relatively basic FitBit that can’t even connect to Apple Health it’s a bit of a steal to be honest – you get real bang for your buck. I also found it far easier to use and work with.
It’s okay but I wouldn’t have been happy to have paid full price for this. It’s very slim and neat but the downside is that it is not always easy to read the display. The App is a bit flaky and seems to lose connection from time to time. Sleep monitor only worked just one night though it’s not too problematic as I only really want it to track steps and distance.
I’m very pleased with this purchase. Good range of feature, comfortable to wear, excellent battery life, does everything I need it to do.
Really enjoying this new watch. It’s extremely helpful when beginning your health lifestyle journey
Purchased for my daughter, she loves it.
Happy daughter means happy daddy!
Well worth the money, quality as always.
Wow for the price this is the balls fare play brilliant…
Nothing to dislike works perfectly and a good step counte
Great value for money. Good app, accurate tracking. Great battery life.
Does everything most people would want in terms of tracking. Seems accurate when compared with other items. Instructions for setting up not very clear but once app is downloaded and watch paired it becomes straight forward. Only minor issue is that screen is easily scratched. For the price it is impressive.
Had doubts about buying this watch after reading all the reviews but for the price i went ahead. I’m so pleased I did as the watch is a perfect size not big or too small. It’s took few days to discover all the different features but once it was charged and app downloaded I was able to wear it. App is easy to use and for accuracy it is pretty much accurate. Overall I’m very happy
Let’s work from the ground up.
Hardware:
Pros: Comfortable band, seems durable from around a month’s use, simple securing mechanism, does not feel bulky. Bright, colourful and high definition screen.
Cons: Screen not large enough for 90% of the information displayed. I try to use watch faces with the largest digital time display as all other information is useless. The screen itself does not take up the whole oval displayed in the images – it is a smaller rectangle, but does blend well in most light. When swimming, some unwanted action sometimes occurs from the touchscreen, although most of the time the lock does prevent this. Does not respond well to water on the screen when interacting – a hard button would really be beneficial to start/stop the swimming workout for example. No speaker which makes Alexa less useful and again, the screen is too small to easily read text responses.
Software:
Pros: Clear display of data, some nice functionality like rearranging displayed workout options etc. Easy connection, syncs quickly.
Cons: Very limited watch faces and very little to customize in terms of time/heart rate etc layout. Either look cheap or display so much information the text is too small and becomes near unreadable.
Accuracy:
Pros: Swimming accuracy seems good although it nearly always gets the most common stroke front crawl wrong and confuses for butterfly. YouTube reviewers do show this as more accurate than some watches costing hundreds.
Cons: Heart rate stops being recorded at some points in the day for no apparent reason (imagine band not placed correctly) and sleep cycles are questionable.
Battery:
Pros: Don’t worry. It’s pretty great. At least 1 week with moderate activity- every half hour heart rate tracking, sleep tracking, workout tracking once a day. Neat charger.
Overall: For the money, you really can’t say no. Maybe some better for price of 35 but at 25 on deal does what it says on the website- does not over or under deliver, good little wrist watch, I’d expect to pay more to get more out of such a product.
Bought for my daughter and I prefer it to my fitbit. Battery is amazing – only had to charge it twice in 3weeks. Sleep and steps accurate. Band a little big for skinny 11yr old wrists but managed to get a better sized strap from a 3rd party retailer.
Good price, reasonable accuracy, such a shame the strap and touch sensitivity do not last well in time.
Overall value for money.
I use it for swimming as my Fitbit isn’t waterproof. It’s looking to record lengths swum, it’s tethered swimming so that’s no use, but it records strokes and time along with level of activity and activity graph, so really it’s fine. I saw another review say you can’t have it under water for long. It’s been under water for two hours and it’s fine.
I had problems stopping it at the end, but we figured out swipe from the left, pause, then stop. Then it syncs with the app.
I wanted a small tracker that didn’t sit up massively on my wrist. This is small, accurate and gives great feedback. The app is easy to use and covers exactly what I need it to. It gives pretty accurate heart rate times when I’m in the gym and I really like the sleep tracker. For such a low price, and low profile it’s really worth the price.
I take it for several runs with my friends and noticed it measure steps incorrectly compared to my friends results. In 1 km I had aprox 200 to 300 steps less than my friends.?
I tried a friends fitbit and didnt like it. Decided to try this and I love it so much I bought my daughter 1. It can be a bit fiddly at 1st but it doesnt take long to get used to. Set up and syncing to app is easy. Love the find device feature. Exercise feature isnt very good if you’re doing floor exercise as it cant pick up your movement. It can be a bit temperamental but I think its value for money. If you want a rough idea of what you doing exercise and steps and not looking for 100% accuracy this is a good choice
Item looks great but doesn’t come with instructions on how things work, also says that you are sleeping when walking around during the day. Needs to have better setting up instructions.
This is a good tracker but does jot have the battery life shown.
I have changed over from fitbit as it packed up and looked around for a cheap and cheerful substitute. After reading reviews I went for it and am very happy. Like any other move from one I twrfqce to another, it takes a little getting used to. The app initially seemed cumbersome but as you fill in your data, it very quicklyadaots and is easy to use and understand.
All the tracking is accurate from what I could see and is easy to understand.
Unfortunately if you start an activity you can’t go back and put in that you went for that walk etc (from what I could see)
It charges up quickly and lasts around 4 or 5 days depending on whether you have Bluetooth on for notifications etc.
The watch display clock is quite small despite a larger display area. It is tricky to swipe through or read fuller messages when they come through, but at least I can see when I have a message etc. The watch face has scratched quite easily too.
The band is a good size for a small wrist as well as larger.
Definitely worth the money, easy to use and work with. You won’t disappointed!
I like all of the fitness/workout features available and that I can find my phone from the watch or my watch from the app on my phone as I often forget where I’ve put my phone down.
The sleep tracking is quite interesting and it records my walks and workouts pretty well. The only feature I’ve noticed be a bit hit and miss is the heart rate tracking. This is usually when I’m at work as it’s a hot environment so maybe this interferes with the tracking but there’s times it loses my heart rate and doesn’t show it in the app and i’d like to know how my stress levels vary throughout the day.
However, overall i’m really impressed by how much it does considering the price compared to more well known brands for fitness watches. I also like the fact that it shows my notifications from my phone and vibrates when my phone is rininging too.
I bought this to be able to track my swimming. It’s sometimes a bit off with the steps, seems accurate with most things. Cheap and cheerful and does what it’s supposed to do
A nice little watch. I only gave it 4 stars as I have to charge it up every 4 days. I am very happy with everything else.
Bought this purely to monitor heart rate after a friend had to have a pacemaker fitted due to an unrealised low heart rate. Works fine as a heart rate monitor. Only gave 4 stars as I can’t use most of the watch faces as they are too small for someone of my age to see without putting on my reading glasses! I also removed most of the other functions as the screen is extremely sensitive, found myself with alarms going off thanks to my shower. Definitely good VFM though.
I have been searching for a tracker type watch for my son who is 9 and came across this 1, he loves it, easy to use and i have total control for settings as i have set the app onto my phone he loves telling me everyday what hos steps were, sleep ect ect great purchase for a super price
I bought this band after finally giving up on Fitbit. The cost of replacing a simple step and sleep tracker was just too high. So, I reluctantly bought this band (at a PrimeDay discount) and figured I’d ignore all the extra functionality as I also own an Apple Watch. The main selling point of this band for me was the multi-day battery life.
However, I’m very impressed. Not only does this band meet, and in my opinion, beat the Fitbit offerings, it does so for a quarter of the price. The Zepp app, which is required for full functionality, is well on the way to beating the Fitbit app too. It’s only missing water and food tracking.
As for my Apple Watch, well I am going on a three-week trek at the end of the month and I’ve decided to leave it at home. The Amazfit Band 5 has more than enough functionality to support me on my trek, as well as record it. True, I still need my iPhone for GPS and app integration, but I’d never go away for three weeks without it. However, with the band’s impressive battery life, it’s one less thing to recharge at the end of my day, and I won’t have gaps in heart rate or sleep tracking because of a nightly recharge. (So far I’m going about a week between charges)
Sure, I’d like the band to integrate with a few more apps on my phone but Apple Health and Strava are currently supported (as well as a bunch of social media and Chinese apps) so perhaps more integrations are planned. I’d also like a way to be reminded of my hydration needs and to record water consumption. An integration with meal/diet apps like Lifesum or MyFitnessPal would be great. Also, I’d like a Walkmeter integration for heart rate but Apple Health acts as a pass-through so it’s not a requirement.
The Apple Health integration does need some work. The Zepp app doesn’t pass all the data that the band’s sensors provide. For instance, the SpO2 readings don’t sync, nor the breathing/mindfulness sessions, but maybe that’s an Apple API issue or will come in a future update. A total win would be if the band’s metrics could update the Activity rings in Apple Health, but I’m guessing that is reserved for Apple Watch
Oh, did you catch that, this band has a SpO2 (blood oxygen) sensor! For under 25!!! On top of all the other expected functionality. Really, what more can be said?
For the money, it’s a steal and according to a scientific review on YouTube, the Amazfit Band 5 is more accurate and reliable than Xiaomi and is only beaten on accuracy by Fitbit, but at 4x the price.
‘Nuff said? Well just one more thing despite the cheeky name, Amazfit is not an Amazon brand. Yeah, I fell for it too, especially as Alexa is included, as a final sweetener.
Brought this for my son 15 .. he is so happy with it .
The sleep tracker on it is really good for just over 20 its a perfect alternative to more expensive brands
Had a Garmin fit for years had the vivofit 5 which broke down and was replaced but did not last very long. So bought this as a replacement. Very reasonable price app is excellent showing a lot more than my previous ones. Has its own fitness workout in the app. I really love it and am pleased it has worked ou
This watch has so many features. The ones I use most are weather, timer/alarm/stopwatch and notifications. I recommend getting this watch even if it’s not for fitness reasons.
I’m so impressed that for 25 I got everything I need. The zepp app is really good and tracks sleep and steps accurately. The band is really nice, doesnt feel plasticy and not annoying to wear. I also like the pop button at the end so there’s no flappy but at the end of the strap
Don’t often leave reviews but I’m so impressed with this. Had other similar price bands but this one is so easy to use, was set up in minutes and I am so not techy. It has great features like showing how much deep sleep you’ve had along with the basics like step count. Had it on for 3 days, with a swim and 2 work outs and battery charge is still 81%. Well worth the price.
My Fitbit broke so I bought this as a temporary substitute while I was choosing its replacement – or so I thought!
I can’t see why I’d ever go back to an expensive brand. This little tracker does everything I need and I actually prefer the look of the band and the App.
I can swim in it, the step counter is accurate, notifications, alarms, sleep monitor and alerts work well. The app is clear and intuitive.
I also love the face personalisations.
I honestly didn’t buy this with any expectations but I am pleasantly surprised and won’t be looking to go back to my old brand.
Item does most things that a more expensive fitbit does. Holds charge really well & is great to keeping track on most activities. Mobile app can be confusing . Very durable . Overall good value & great for someone needing to try one for the first time without having to break the bank .
1/10th the price of an Apple watch but manages to deliver 80%+ of the functionality and of the one personally for me it’s close to everything I want. This is for you if you want something slimline and keeps track of your steps and sleep, you’re not really looking to use the screen. This is not for you of you want a watch that is also a smart device to stop you always checking your phone
The watch itself is quite comfortable and the battery seems to last a long time. It came in packaging that could not be opened eithout destroying it. I really hate that as you can’t keep it in the box. I was worried about the strap not being secure but I was wrong on that – once it clips in it’s going nowhere. Instructions are poor and online. I bought it for constant monitoring of heart rate and blood oxygenation rather than activity effects.
The watch face is clear enough but sometimes take a while to activate. It measures my heart rate and oxygen every few minutes and seems accurate enough. Warns you if of any danger signs. The sleep functions. appear to be accurate too. I haven’t checked the accuracy of the step counter . I haven’t managed to get it to connect to Alexa but not bothered. It will connect to my phone and sync data with the app.
Overall, for a touch over 20, it’s an introduction to smart watches. It has some very useful monitoring functions that might alert you to dangers of stroke or heart attack. It’s not perfect but it packs a hell of a lot into a small cheap unit. You could possibly get cheaper but not from a recognised brand leader in the technology. Go for it.
I bought the tracker mainly to track my sleep as I have disturbed nights.
It is mainly very accurate, once or twice it doesn’t register my sleep but interesting to know the amount of deep and REM sleep I am getting (not much!).
Very good value for the price and features.
It’s surprisingly comfortable to wear. The sleep tracking is not very accurate and so far it has let me down once by not recording any movement during a swim, but otherwise I am very pleased with it.
Looks very nice, I found it abit hard to set up, but I did it in the end and I am very happy with it.
Bit slow to show the time when lift arm up to look but I’m happy with the step count and notifications. Haven’t used the other options
The watch seem fine however, the strap has got to be the worst design ever. I believe its was a money spinner to make you buy additional straps as the one with the watch keeps undoing. Not sure who designed the strap but guys, what’s wrong with a traditional one. Hence the saying don’t fix something that’s not broken.
Watch 3/4.
Strap 2 at bes
Does everything the expensive one does. Easy to set up and easy to use.
As a budget fitness tracker this is performing better than the apps I used to use on my phone. I am not an athlete, just a middle aged man trying to do regular exercise and live a little healthier.
I always found my phone apps recorded with varying quality, recording steps when cycling, only recording half a bike ride etc.
So far, this seems to be recording accurately, has the added benefits of sleep tracking, heart rate (inc continuous monitoring) and blood oxygen monitoring.
The battery is lasting well – now on Day 7 of constant wearing and battery has just dipped below 50%.
App takes some getting used to in terms of navigation and set up (may be due to terminology used) but persevere and it all starts to make sense.
Screen brightness not sufficient on default setting to read in bright sun but turn to maximum in ‘More’ and this is resolved. TIP – enable Night Mode as the band activates when you move your arm a certain way and this will light up the bedroom if on Day Mode with brightest setting – not a popular move with the other half!
As there is no GPS you need to keep it linked to your phone with the app running in the background on the phone to get alerts and GPS tracking (e.g. for bike rides) but most of us take our phones everywhere anyway so no big deal.
Strap is one of the common type where you push the locator pin through a hole. Plenty of adjustment but no safety feature so could easily fall off if you catch it (lost my previous Samsung Bands that way) – a few replacement bands are available with different closure methods.
Overall, a very useful budget fitness band for normal use which gives insight into your habits, routines and fitness.
This is the first fitness tracked I have ever bought. The quality is extremely good, I wanted it to tracking my swimming which it does both lengths swum and total metres/miles that you do. For the price it is an impressive tracker. Very happy
I’ve only had it a week and so far it is giving me everything I want and the battery is still going strong. My only reservation is that lots of the screen characters are in red which I struggle to read. I don’t like the rubber wristbands as I find it hard to do them up with my arthritic fingers, but as I don’t have to keep taking it off for showers and swimming it hasn’t been a problem so far. Excellent value for money, hope it lasts longer than my Fitbits have!!
I bought this primarily for tracking my sleep, but the watch does not recognise when I wake up during the night.
It’s a shame because all the other features seem really good., But I was looking for something that tracks how often I wake when I’m sleeping.
Initially purchased to monitor my swimming, but surprised at how much more it does.
Great app, clear to see. Includes sleep tracking
User guide is poor though, so give yourself time to play with the screen as it took me a while to even find the swimming section.
This watch does everything it says it does. I only have to charge it once every 10 days.
I purchased some spare coloured straps from Amzon and they look as good as the original
Husband likes product very handy needed a band that could be worn when swimming does the job
All the other watches, smart, tracking or even just clockwork have not really lasted on my wrist more than a week or 2. This 1 doesn’t irritate me, feels natural on my wrist so much that I feel it missing when it charges. Let’s talk about charging, every other 1 I’ve had has run out after about 10 hours & needs charging daily. This charges in about 2 or 3 hours & then lasts about a week (I don’t use it to control the music (amazon music is not the greatest thing to link lol). Alexa UK was a bit tricky to get working & it complains that some actions require a speaker, but it still runs routines & controls smart home linked stuff just fine. Not really sure how accurate it is because some of the stuff doesn’t make sense sometimes, like what did I do for the 3 hours I was in bed before it detected I was sleeping, but quick enough to log to a 40 minute nap. Could be I’m just weird, but yeah I love this little lozenge & the strap is pretty good & interchangeable.
This was bought for my wife, as a replacement for a fitbit which had failed (the 3rd to fail and all within a year of being new) and I was attracted to it because of the price and features, many of which are similar to a fitbit, ie swim tracking, fitness workout, sleep, step etc
The quoted battery life of 15 days was an incentive too, however if your an active person who trains regularly and is on the go then you ain’t getting 15 days battery life.
The touch screen is decent but my wife finds the ‘face’ area a little bulky, maybe could do with downsizing slightly.
Fairly easy setup and connection to app and phone, also easy to retrieve accumulated data on the app.
Like all fitness trackers the accuracy of the calorie burn count, step count etc are subjective and should be used as a guide only.
The real beauty of this tracker is its low price (I paid 35) compared to the much more expensive fitbit. If this fails paying 35 isn’t an issue compared to 165 for the last failed fitbit.
Overall a cheaper alternative fitness/lifestyle tracker that does the job but don’t expect the battery life claim to live up to the billing.
Works well for the price. Monitors my sleep and stress levels. Counts my calories and steps. I haven’t yet had any problems with it. Only thing is it doesn’t tell me if I have been sitting too long like my husbands watch or maybe I just haven’t programmed it. I am not exactly tech savvy so it could be me. Am not sure if it even has that functio
This is amazing for 24.99 . I really can’t see how people have left any negative reviews , this fitness band does everything you need , I was going to buy an Apple Watch but wasn’t sure I would use it so I bought this , it honestly does everything you need & I think it’s pretty accurate as I have compared it Apple Watch & Samsung watch , steps very the same over a few hour distance, the Zepp app is great where you can read all your information on a bigger display, I love this Amazfit Band & I would 100% recommend it .
Had to watch you tube videos to set up the watch (instructions are non-existent!) but have been happy with its performance over the past week. It’s annoying that the app is unable to connect with the watch after I have been out of range of wifi, it seems the only way I can connect the 2 is to sign out of the app on my phone and then sign in again.
Does exactly what I bought it for and has so many features. Great price. Battery only needs charging once a week and love how you can change the watch faces. Money well spe
very good battery life and a wide range of details monitored through the app .
don’t know if im doing something wrong buti can’t seem to connect my Amazon alexa .
the other silly but annoying point is the sleep tracking doesn’t seem to comprehend to concept of night shifts
I was looking for something to track my swims, but didn’t cost loads. I’ve been really impressed by the functionality of the band. Added bonus was call alerts, message reading and calendar reminders. Good value for something so cheap! Had it 4 weeks now. Recommend.
It’s a good watch and tells you how many steps you do but it was a bit difficult to pair it up with my Samsung galaxy a52s but I did it and it’s good
Extensive functionality. Step count, heart beat tracking, sleep tracking are the ones I’ve used but also has sports modes & communication modes. As you would expect at the price this band does not have GPS.
Accuracy is difficult to assess but seems reasonable. Step count very similar when matched to more expensive tracker, other data looks OK as far as I can tell & if nothing else, gives a trend.
Screen is clear although letters/figures quite small – a compromise due to screen size. Numerous screen formats available. Synchronisation to app seems very efficient so far with minimal lag.
Zepp app seems very good with lots of data, graphs & helpful hints. All easy to access. Other data can be added in e.g. body weight & height to give BMI.
Battery life seems to match claims of 14 days although I’ve not used some battery intensive functions (e.g. REM sleep measure or breathing quality measure).
Overall. for someone looking for a budget heath & fitness monitor and who doesn’t need absolute precision, this is an excellent band.
The product is amazing, easy to use, got my moneys worth. Although still trying to figure out how to use Alexa on the product.
I got this watch so I could wear it to work and not care if it got broken or not. It is a very good watch for the price of it. I’m happy out with it. The only con I’d say is that it dosnt track your exercise properly or steps unless you have it on super tight. The other con is that I find it dosnt track my sleep properly as i wake up multiple times a night and dosnt log it at all. Besides that I think it’s a good little watch to have and would recommend it for anyone on a budget or want a cheep one for work
Amazing fit Band 5, sleep tracking, mobile app, heart rate, battery life fab etc are all fantastic. Easy to wear don’t even know I have Band on. Would definitely recommend.
I bought this as a birthday present for myself, I love it very much. I don’t need too many functions, it does its job at a reasonable price. The battery life is good, it lasts two weeks for me already without charging in between. However, the built-in Alexa sometimes has connection problems, and it doesn’t have a built-in GPS, so I still have to carry my phone with me if I want an accurate track for my outdoor running. Overall, I like it, and I am glad I bought this for myself. Definitely a good motivation for outdoor running especially in cold winter time.
I’ve not worn anything on my wrist for many years now so deciding to get something like this made me think a bit beforehand. I decided I was not going to buy one of the mainstream/expensive fitness bands just in case the idea didn’t work for me. This one seemed to get decent reviews both here and on Which and the price looked sensible.
So – on the plus side
* Comfortable and unobtrusive to wear
* Screen is very clear and once you get used to it easy to use
* The app is simple enough to use and has some good data available on it
* The battery life really is pretty good – maybe not two weeks but definitely more than one
OK stuff
* As far as these things go the readings generally seemed ok
* O2 reading looked about right though you need to leave you hand still for a bit to get it
* Heart rate figures were about what I was expecting
* Steps – seems responsive around the house which I understand some are not. I think it under reads by a bit (having since used a GPS watch)
Rubbish!
* Frankly the sleep monitoring is pretty dire. It does not seem to think that me getting up to go to the loo in the night means I am NOT awake…!
All in all this makes for a decent buy if you accept some of the issues above. As I understand it you could pay considerably more and get no better results. I actually ended up buying a smartwatch (AmazFit partly because of the performance of this) which I’ll review in due course (though sleep monitoring is not better!). That seems to indicate that the “steps” on exercising are a bit under when you look at the distance on the watch.
Arrived on time, good value. A very comprehensive fitness tracker, I wish I had bought it sooner, I would recommend.
Advertised as having Alexa but you have to search hard to find where to activate it and you need to download Alexa onto your phone.
Our daughter likes playing with Alexa and we installed it on her phone – we couldn’t work out where to activate the Alexa but eventually she did (you have to go into “Events” to find it.
It’s OK so far – accurate timekeeping and replaced an analogue birthday watch that lasted 6 months last year – hoping for the full lifetime of this product before we need to replace.
Oh yes – batteries CANNOT be replaced once the inbuilt battery dies. Not very environmentally friendly at all.
Here are some pros and cons after using the band for three months..
PROS:
*Blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring
*Different watch faces
*Customisable band shortcuts
*Customisable vibrations
*OLED screen
*4 brightness settings
*Night Mode scheduling (automatically decrease/increase the brightness at a set time)
*Battery life is impressive
*Pairs well to phone and notifications are prompt
*Editable sleep and wake times
CONS/IMPROVEMENTS:
*Confusing to turn on at first as instructions are minimal
*Steps are undercounted (explanation below**)
*No quick shortcut to adjust brightness
*You can’t view sleep data on band
*No dark mode on the Zepp app
*Altitude data doesn’t work for workouts
*It doesn’t currently sync with Map My Walk/Run
*Limited watch faces (you have to install 3rd party apps to get more)
*Date format wrong for UK (dd/mm – this should be customisable)
*You can’t view the time, etc, during a workout
*The strap sits clunkily on my thin wrist (see photos, smaller strap needed)
*Small scratches on screen already
I’ve been very happy with this band so far for the low price, hence the four stars, but it still has many cons and I’m hoping some of them will be rectified in a future software update. A quick shortcut to adjust the brightness is much needed, as you currently have to scroll through menus to get there (Night Mode takes the band down to the second lowest brightness, which is too bright for me, so I manually adjust it to the lowest brightness each night). Amazfit should sell a smaller band for petite wrists; I have mine on the 2nd/3rd smallest hole and the band loop sits clunkily underneath the tracker, making it seem longer and getting caught on sleeves (see photos). As for not being able to view sleep data on the band, a dark mode for the app, date format, and viewing time during workouts — these are all quick fixes if Amazfit are listening. I currently use the ‘Amazfit Band 5 Faces’ third party app, which has a huge variety of faces. Unfortunately they lose functionality, so you can’t simply tap a third party watch face to take you to the weather, etc. I haven’t mentioned Alexa, as I haven’t used it much, though I’ve noticed that it mostly needs reconnecting to the phone when I do try to use it.
**STEPS: The band undercounts steps. Amazfit have said that their bands do not start counting steps until after you’ve taken 10 steps, in the interest of accuracy. This means I can spend an entire hour cooking without supposedly taking any steps at all. There have also been many times where I have gone up and down stairs to access the bathroom and the band has counted zero steps (despite this being around 100 steps). Maybe I don’t move my arm back and forth enough, but one day soon I will wear this alongside another fitness tracker and pedometer all day so I can see how many steps it misses/differs by.
What is there not to like on this device.
It does all of the fitness things that I would want (steps tracking, that’s it).
It has a great easy to read display which can be easily customised.
The build in Alexa is cool as anything (just swipe right after the display comes on).
It connects to Google fit. If is super cheap. It is really easy to charge via the magnetic charging cable.
The battery life for me is in excess of a week, which in my mind is plenty.
The strap is really comfortable. But I do manage to knock it off now and again. This is my only real moan. Isn’t that amazing!!
I could go on.
So would I recommend or buy again. That is easily a YES. Well I don’t need 2 so I would only buy again if I broke it! But seriously this is a really great product. I am very pleased with it.
And you look really cool talking to your watch to control your smart home (well I think I look cool)!!!!
Loving it. Replaced my dying fitbit and gives me a waterproof more streamlined version with great battery life. Very good value. Easier to charge with a magnetic connection than my old fitbit with a clip on connection.
I liked the event reminder which really helps me. Stats it shows me in daily basis is good.
It’s taking sometime to synchronize with the mobile app which can be improved.
I wanted a little step tracker to help keep me moving throughout the day without having to spend hundreds on something and so when I found this little watch, although skeptical about *how* it could be so good for the price, I’ve been trialing it now for a month and I absolutely love it! It really does live up to the reviews. The battery life is fab, I charge it maybe once a week if that, and I love that it has a few other features for sports tracking, along with heart rate and breathing exercises.
I’ve never been one for wearing something on my wrist which is too cumbersome, but this one does feel light and small so you don’t really ever feel like you’re wearing it. All in all, such a great product especially for the money. I’m really chuffed!
For less than 30 this is a good bit of kit. I’m not sure that the step counter is completely accurate but it’s close enough. I’m not using many of the other features so can’t comment on them.
This is probably the best watch I had purchased for such a cheap price. Does everything you need it to doaccuracywell nothing is going to be as accurate as what you’ll get in the hospital but this isn’t far off at all. The one thing I did notice is that when I went for a run it doesn’t track distance correctly. A 5 mile run only showed as being a 3 mile run, same with cycling too. Otherwise it’s very comfortable and is a very good watch.
Seems great so far, counts steps and tells the time which is the 2 main things I wanted one for.
Has lots of other features I don’t really use.
Bad points would be, no proper clasp so it comes undone a lot and the treadmill setting is a little temperamental as it keeps pausing during the workou
The watch, for the price is fantastic. The battery lasts a day, but comes with a charger as expected. The style is modern and looks expensive. My favourite thing about it is, the heart rate accuracy. It’s important to stay fit, and these will help. 4/5 sta
Cannot believe that something so small can have Alexa built into it. Find this feature really useful as it means I can turn on my hall light from outside to help me see to get into the house. Just need to purchase another smart bulb for the outside light and this feature will be even better.
I just wanted to try this value fitness band to compare against my expensive fitbit. Firstly, very impressed with Amazfit, the band is terrific value and does everything and more than my fitbit. I do find the fitbit app a bit easier to use and the info is clearer particularly for sleep analysis and workout analysis such has cardio, fat burn etc. In the Amazfit app (Zepp) this is shown a aerobic and non aerobic exercise (NA is fat burn). The screen is miss-represented on adds it actually only covers 50-60% of the face with big boarders and battery life is worse than expected at 2-3 days with everything turned on. Even so overall it’s a great value band and will do everything and more that fitbit will do at a very good price.
This is the 5th smart band watch I’ve had and so far it’s the best. It has a huge choice of faces and the display is bright and sharp. The app is really good and I particularly like the sleep tracking and its analyses which seems to be very accurate. The watch has lots of menus which you can customise the order of. It even shows the weather forecast for today and the week.
I chose this one because it connects to Alexa. To use Alexa you just tap and swipe right, wait a couple of seconds for it to connect and then speak. It doesn’t talk back but what she says appears as text. I use it to control lights in my house when I’m in a room that doesn’t have an Echo device.
The battery lasts 6 to 7 days which is great, way better than atrociously expensive Apple and Samsung watches. To charge it there’s a supplied cable that magnetically connects to the back of the watch.
The biggest problem I have with smart bands is poor quality straps that break after a year. Because this watch doesn’t require you to pull off the strap in order to charge it, I’m quietly hopeful that it’s going to last much longer because the strap doesn’t get stressed like the others do.
Overall I’m very happy with this. I will update it if anything changes.
This is now my new favourite smart band – I love the addition of a microphone and a smart assistant (Alexa) whilst maintaining amazing battery life.
I’ve owned the Mi Band 4,5 and Honor Band 5. This band is basically the same as the Mi Band 5 physically but with the very valuable addition of a microphone and Alexa.
– The screen is the same as Mi Band 5 – so a very nice screen
– Battery life is awesome
– It has Amazon Alexa quick access when you swipe right – which opens a world of additional possibilities
As the band only has a mic and not a speaker, you can only speak to Alexa and she will write back to answer. Or you can create events. Despite this limitation you can do a lot (with Alexa).
I personally use it to control my smart plugs and other smart devices or quickly create reminders or lists.
If you also download the Alexa app on your phone (optional – only if you want to create additional routines/sync with Google) you can create routines which means you can control how Alexa will respond to specific commands – for example I’ve created the command ‘turn off smart plug in 20 minutes’ and this will trigger Alexa to turn off my plug after a 20 minute delay. – This is a feature that not even Google Assistant will agree to do with smart plugs. I’ve also found that Alexa is better at understanding my 2 year old than Google can.
You can also sync Alexa with your Google Calendar and Gmail via the Alexa app, so if you tell your band to create calendar entries for future dates/times it will automatically be sync’d with your Google calendar!
For advanced users you can also use IFTTT to create advanced functions – for example create a command that will make Alexa send your Shopping list to Telegram or add stuff to your Google tasks list.
I’m very excited with the potential of this band. I love how it’s still only a minimalist fitness band and keeps the long battery life and has only added a valuable smart assistant.
I occasionally get a server busy message when speaking to Alexa, but not often enough to make it a problem. Just make sure to disable any battery saving measures on the Zepp app and allow data usage for it to function properly.
The Zepp app is basically a clone of the Mi Band’s. It’s very good and user friendly. You can also create custom watch faces using your own photos 🙂
I don’t use my band for exercise functions so can’t comment on them. I do check my sleep stats and occasionally use the o2/heart beat monitor – they seem to work fine.
Overall this is currently an unbeatable recommendation at the price range <=30.
Bought a cheaper band a few days earlier and it was pretty terrible. At least 50% of the product description turned out to be false so I promptly returned and bought this one for twice the price of the original. This band totally exceeded my expectations. Just love it tbh does everything I need it to do and more. if you are looking for a budget fitness band this is the cheapest one I would consider proper bang for your buck. Feels more like a quality product compared to the other cheap one.
I have been using the Amazfit Band 5 for a couple of days and so far I am really impressed. Being new I have played about with it a lot and so far lost 14% battery so seems about right for a two week battery life. It seems accurate with step counting and recording sleep which is the two features I was most interested in. The other features are great too. The app is easy to use and has great tips to improve life style. I am struggling to sync it with myfitnesspal but this isn’t a big issue to me as I can manual record my steps. Overall really happy with this product! X
I’ve had this for about a month now, I wear it constantly other than when I’m charging it and it’s a decent little fitness watch for what I use it for, and for the price I think it’s extremely good…
The app and watch format are easy to use, there are only a few things I think I’d change, like everything is in US format, I can’t change the date to English format, it measures in kilometres instead of miles, kilos instead of lb etc, but since I only generally use it for the time, steps, calories and my sleeping pattern it’s not a huge problem.
It’s really quite good for app notifications too.
The watchface itself is quite sensitive and I’d also like to way to be able to lock it, like while I’m sleeping or showering.
I was a little wary about how waterproof it actually is, and I’m not about to test the acclaimed 50 meters but I wear it in the shower every morning, I’ve dunked it many times in the sink and I’ve had no problems with it whatsoever in that regard.
I was a little disappointed with the battery life, since I think the description states that it lasts two weeks? but I do have to charge it every 3-4 days and the cable is not universal.
So, like I said, it’s not a fitbit or an apple watch, but all in all its a nice little piece of tech for the fracture of the price
Wow, those things under my bottom are legs and this little band has proven I can walk!!! Great price, works really well, the app was no bother at all as you dont need to link to it in order to count steps. It looks good too. Went with black as that blends in at work more. Great display and easy to read. You can change ge face’s but I left 9t with he one that came on when powered up. I haven’t used Alexa yet as no real need for me. Light weigth and I didn’t really notice it on my wrist. Great battery life too, with several of the options running I got a solid 2 weeks between charges. In qll it wont chnge your life but will allow to see how your doing during your day
I bought it in sale for 18 pounds; hence 4 stars. Otherwise deserves 3.
Before this I had Huawei Band 4
Design: Its personal to me but why so much huge bezels in top and bottom. The watch could have been smaller and would look better on wrist.
PROS:
– Has all the sensors like SPO2, stress, Heart rate monitor and few more…
– Zepp App doesn’t collect much data.
– Has Alexa built in. Only good for setting up reminders.
Cons:
– If the walking speed is between 70-110 steps/minute; it calculates correctly anything more than 130 steps/min the watch registers only 80-90 steps/min (Huawei Band 4 was better)
– false positive like I am driving and it registers the steps. (Huawei Band 4 was better)
– Sleep monitor: I am reading a book at night and it registers as “went to sleep”. (Huawei Band 4 was better)
– Why Alexa why: From past 14 days I ask it what’s the temperature and its always 23 – 25 degree Celsius; day and night even when its chilly due to rain.
I love the app on my phone and I especially love the sleep tracker…I like the fact after a few minutes of walking the band picks it up and gives me the option to record the walk. The battery life is impressive I have had it about 2 weeks now and only charged it once. I don’t think I have even used all of the features of the band yet. So all in all I think the amazfit band 5 is well worth the 19.99 I paid
I was thinking of upgrading my Apple watch but went into reverse. instead of spending 400 I bought this for 30.
1. Battery lasts on average 8/9 days with everything on – continuous heart rate, bright display etc. I can’t bring myself to buy another Apple lasting only 18 hours!
2. Heart rate/step counter etc. as good as Apple.
3. The watch is totally waterproof. I wear it in the hot tub submerged at 100 F for up to 60 minutes with no problem at all! I wouldn’t try this with a 400 Apple even if they do say its waterproof. NB The hot tub/jacuzzi test is the ultimate test for waterproofness !
4. The Amazfit has a slim profile on the wrist and is very light.
5. If I lose it/break it I can always buy another one for 30!!
6. I don’t miss talking to my Apple watch!!
Bought (2) for myself and partner, quality and light.
does what we want and is accurate as far as we can
in all but 1 function…. sleep monitoring, i suppose it
depends if band loses contact with wrist when sleeping,
turning over, depending on the way you lie when sleeping.
but not to fussed as all the important data we require is
accurate, sleep monitoring not important. Easy to charge,
easy to connect to app on phone, syncs no problem.
data on phone and band clear and easy to read.
Recommended seller and product.
I was pleasantly surprised by this little watch. It may not do all the features, but it does quite a lot. The mobile app works great and updates everything quickly. I’d consider getting an improved version of this watch. Overall, very good. 4 solid stars!
I am actually quite amazed by this little thing that cost 30 quid. If you go to versus.com and compare it with the GTR2 model which costs 5 times more, you will be in for surprise. I downgraded from a HUAWEI GT Pro2 (cost me 250 pounds) because the heart rate sensor was rubbish in that watch. The Band 5 has a really accurate heart sensor, a good step counter (step Count within 1% of that shown by my iphone12), it has a good vibrating alarm that wakes me up but does not wake up the missus when I have an early start, it shows email alerts, WhatsApp messages, Apple News alerts etc. (not sure about Facebook, insta etc. As I don’t use them). It has an SpO2 sensor, connects well with my iPhone 12. The app (Zepp) is relatively easy to use, some of the English wording is a little dodgy, but it shows sleep durations and a breakdown of sleep types (this is so addictive). The screen is super bright and has a good resolution, a little small as you can imagine but I am old so I can’t really complain much about readability as I can’t even see my phone’s screen without my glasses. The design is neat and the band is secure, you can buy different bands from Amazon for a few quid. It does not allow you to answer calls or messages but what do you expect for a 30 quid watch. Battery life is really good, I have continuous heart rate monitoring on, screen brightness turned to max, I get about 100 notification per day (emails mostly) and the battery lasts a week or so.
Verdict: the best bang your will get for your buck, if you want lots of good activity sensors with a screen that does 80% of what a top of the range smart watch does for 20% of the cost, get this one, it a good entry point if you are unsure.
I’ve been using this for about a month now and am happy with it. It offers a lot of features other than the step counter such as pulse and sleep monitoring. I tested it against a counter app and after 2 miles they were within 40 steps of each other.
Uploading to the app is seamless and the app is easy to use providing useful information.
Great product all round. Amazing tracking and capabilities, easy to use and just a great item.
One bad thing is that to use Alexa you have to have Alexa App open(this is only a problem for those that like to force close apps like me so not too big of a deal)and you basically need to have minimal noise around you. Even a loud noise in the distance sometimes makes it malfunction, but generally really good for everything else and very convenient .
Do wish there was more details for weather(hourly temperatures like on my iPhone), but generally for quick look high/low, current temp, precipitation, uv and wind are more than enough.
Battery life with almost all settings on and at constant monitoring (not including PAI and auto stress monitoring) I’m averaging around 6 days with around less than 2 hours charging time( the magnetic charging cable is great especially because you don’t have to remove the band to do it.
Sleep tracking is good, showing heart rate and if you had any breathing difficulties as well as how long awake, light sleep and deep sleep (the ability to see the average is very helpful as well). Very comfy to sleep with and no problems there.
Durability is great too, hit the screen against many walls and rough surfaces and it held up fine with a wipe from my sleeve, and the band sometimes looks like it’s damaged but once wiped with a baby wipe or wet tissue it’s fine and back to mint condition(good adjustability for band).
Clear screen and app is very good and easy to use, settings are very extensive for such a cheap smartwatch, and good amount of Home Screen backgrounds.(2 customisable options).
Notifications and different vibration patterns(which you can easily make your self in the app) are great for knowing what type of notification it is without having to look.
Unfortunate you can’t reply to messages but it would be mental to have a capability like that on a smart watch as cheap as this!
Unfortunately no speaker so Alexa can’t reply by voice only text but didn’t seem to be too much of a problem.
Musical Controls are great too, shame they don’t work with YouTube(not YouTube Music, don’t have it so wouldn’t know, talking about with normal YouTube videos) but again not a big deal.
From the minimal activity I’ve done it seems to track the running and walking very well, with heartbeat, average speed, time and distance, steps and calories shown; freestyle is also very good for those activities not on there!
All in all highly recommend this item it is amazing value for money and is just a brilliant Activity tracker!
Please but it’s great and you won’t regret it.
After trying out a couple of the generic smart watches on Amazon I came across this one. Not had a chance to explore it yet but functionality and interface is much improved on the other watches. I can also wear this as a bracelet alongside a conventional watch. I’m no fitness fanatic but who knows, this may spur me into action to lose some of the weight I’ve put on over the last year.
The battery life is 7 days before charging the watch. Has alot of functions and can control your amazon devices like your lights to turn on demand. Would highly recommended to anyone as its good Value for money and also its so accurate to.
Product great. Easy to set up and to use. Shame experience spoilt by lazy delivery man dumping box with unspecified neighbour. Which meant I had to go door to door in my apartment block to find it. Perhaps it would be easier for Amazon if I turned up at their distribution centre and went looking for my items myself.
I bought a smart watch a few months ago but ended up returning it – it was too big on my wrist, the battery life too short and the GPS inaccurate. I’ve decided that all I needed was a health tracking watch and I’d use my phone for GPS for Strava. For the price you really can’t go wrong – 10-20% of the cost of a wearOS smart watch, links to Google Fit etc, battery life seems to be 8-10 days with full monitoring on. It’s small and comfortable to wear. My only criticism is that as the device is small on your wrist, some of the font sizes are very small and hard to read. But I don’t really look at stuff on my phone, I use the Zepp app and google fit etc to track the results of the watch’s monitoring.
Accurate, Feature Rich, Waterproof, Comfortable to wear & has Alexa!
Needs charging once a week – I use it a lot.
Sleep monitor is great showing deep, light, awake periods and even REM. Plus you can overlay your heart rate if you want.
Weather forecast is great and app etc notifications come through very quickly.
24/7 heart rate records and O2 sats.
Stress monitoring with breathing exercises – if required.
It evens controls your Bluetooth enabled devices audio.
As for the training/fitness capabilities, No Idea.
I didn’t buy it for that reason so have never used them. But, a friend of mine who has, rates this highly.
It doesn’t track sleep properly. I know when I’m awake and it records it as REM. If I walk on wooden floors or carpet the steps are not recorded. And I’m certain that the deep sleep isn’t deep because I mostly wake up at the hours this says I’m sleeping. And its not recording any calories unless you’re specifically doing sports. Other bands do.
Pay a bit more and get something else. Its not worth it. This was a typical case of buy cheap get low quality.
I am impressed by this item, having returned another product in frustration. This is still on its first charge 3 weeks in. The app works well and its reasonably intuitive. There is probably too many functions for me and the screen is small qnd i would upgrade for a fuller screen. The sleep recording is inaccurate but others for sports seem to be accurate. Overall i think this is very good value. Some of the controls can be fiddly especially post swim
Great band. Alexa works 99% of the time .battery i think will last 7 days with every thing on. Heart rate seems very good. Sleep tracking seems spot on . Step count is very good walked for 600 steps band said I did 598. ( couldn’t be bothered to count more than 600 steps)
All in all I find it better than my samsung fit2 and much better than mi band 5.
Only down side is you can’t do quick reply text , maybe if they do an update in the future it would then be the perfect band, even if the reply was only yes, no or ok.
Waterproof seems to work in the bath. Cycling tracking works well . Zepp app is great. Takes 10 mins to set up with all updates. Good choice of watch faces on app. Screen is bright no problem to see outside in sun ,if we ever get any in the UK.
Very pleased
10 out of 10
Update. 14.11.20
Battery life 8 days with good usage.
Screen on full brightness.
Alexa works about 90% of time.
Great to sleep with don’t notice it on.
Zepp app works very well.
Step count same as my samsung fit2.
Out of samsung fit2 and amazfit band 5 , the amazfit band 5 is the one I’m keeping. Its just a better band and strap and Mi band 5 straps fit it perfectly so plenty to choose from if you need a change. Plus plenty of 3rd party watch faces to choose from.
