I was a little intimidated by the prospect of using a coffee machine, but I am very pleased to have bought this.
I didn’t have massive hopes for this as many people seem to suggest that buying a machine less than 500 and it will taste like dirt. In reality for, Joe bloggs coffee drinker, this little machine makes a great cup of coffee.
It is easy to use with a dial for steam or coffee. The steam wand is easy to use and cleaning the machine is quite simple.
For the price I would definitely say this is a good coffee machine. Would recommend
Compact and easy to use, I find the coffee insertion park a little bit tricky sometimes. The milk frother is grea
I like very much the taste of the caffe that this device do. Very easy-to-use, practical, nice price.
50 I thought I’d try it excellent decision only problem now I’m drinking too much coffee
First time user, happy with espresso machine used everyday a couple of times.no problem.
Gets the job done, we did struggle to get it going but it works pretty well I can’t complain with this. You get a nice coffee each time. Only problem is you can’t fit a big mug underneath it even removing the drip tray but it’s nothing to cry about. The milk steamer works great, I bought a little milk jug to go with it and I love this, it also screams at you when steaming the milk to really wake you up in the morning.
I really like this coffee machine it’s great for home or office use.
I find it’s great value for money, yes it might not make the perfect crema but for 60 (40 in Black Friday sale) instead of 600 + I don’t expect it to be the same quality. The steam wand could be a little longer but it froths up my oat milk just fine and I have even heated up milk for the kids hot chocolate with it.
I just wished I bought this first over my nespresso machine as now I have an electric milk frother doing nothing.
Good value for making a single cup or two. We would normally use a cafetiere for larger amounts but this saves waste.
This machine is amazing for the price point, it makes a more than descent espresso if you take the time to figure out its tips and tricks.
more than pleased
This machine is much better than I had expected, it makes a good cup of coffee, what else is there to say!
Bought on a Black Friday deal for around 40. As such, couldn’t ask for more. Espresso – check, steamed/frothy milk – check, easy to use – check. All round very pleased.
Had a Delonghi coffe machine for a few years before this. When it packed up I decide to get something cheap as an in between. I must say this is just as good, maybe the milk frothed is not quite as powerful but that’s not a bid deal. Overall happy with i
Very happy with this machine. I’m not a ‘barista’ but I love my latte. Firstly, down sides – for some -, no automatic measure discharge and only possible to fit a small cup under. However, lots of upsides: easy to operate, quick heat up, fast discharge, good crema and effective steamer. The 2 down sides are easily overcome. I take the metal stand out of the drip tray and simply balance my large (Costa) cup under the dispenser. It takes less than a minute to half fill my cup (approx 8fl oz). As the cup is balanced, it is very important to stay next to it for safety. Because I like a large latte, the lack of automatic dispense is actually a bonus. The milk frother is good too. I use oat milk, and not the barista type, so it can be pretty difficult to froth. As you can see from the photos, this machine does a pretty good job of it. Especially for the price, I highly recommend this machine.
Purchased to replace a Bosch machine which had lost pump pressure and started to leak hopelessly, like the De’Longhi maker before it. Since neither previous machines had lasted more than 18 months, price clearly didn’t equal quality. So, I decided to go for a low price and see what I got from Amazon Basics. Bottom line is a decent enough espresso maker, though with a couple of flaws that may make it a non-starter for some potential buyers.
Positives – it makes a perfectly adequate espresso. Lots of crema and a decent taste with Lavazza arabica grounds. It’s not too loud, nor too big. All the controls are on the front and intuitive and it comes with a combined scoop and tamper device included. Cleaning is easy with fully removable tray and water holder.
Negatives – only one grounds holder supplied and it’s a 2-cup version. If you only want a small amount of espresso, too bad! That said, a little experimentation has shown that the old Bosch machine’s 1-cup holder works just fine with this machine. There is a remarkable similarity between the grounds holder of this machine and the Bosch one it’s replacing. Is this a Bosch in disguise? It’s impossible to tell.
Second negative is that the heating element doesn’t quite get the water as hot as the previous machine. It’s good enough for my taste, but if you expect really, really hot coffee, you may be disappointed. Perhaps no coincidence that the heating tray on top of the machine barely seems to get warm.
I have no use for milk frothers, so can’t advise on that’s efficiency, but it certainly makes the right noises and emits steam if you follow the procedure.
All in all, good value for the 59.95 I paid, but do check those negatives, just in case they are deal-breakers for you.
Bought as a direct replacement for identical machine is good value for the price. My needs are basic as is this machine which is excellent.
Cheap and amazing does everything what a coffee machine should do
Does everything it is supposed to do It’s barista coffee on a keen budge
Had a look at it all there looks great and great for price and great delivery.
Really easy to use and no require much time to be ready, just a minute or so and can make a coffe.
Delivers top class coffee, and especially the crema, that lovely natural coffee “cream” that comes as a result of super high pressure push through a pinhole! Also important is the temperature of the delivered coffee, its nice and hot ! Many much more expensive machines spit out lukewarm coffee and there’s nothing worse than that. This machine used to be sold under the brand name “Excelvan”, but Amazon must have realised how good it was and its been rebranded! You really wont go wrong with this! If you’re trying to get away from using milk, the coffee on its own is so creamy, you mightn’t notice it that much!
Bought to make espresso.
Does a reasonable job.
Crme a little thin but ok.
Not bad wee unit…does a nice coffee with a acceptable creme. Not the greates unit but does the job!!!
Overall I am happy with this product I had a Delongi one before and I must say it is just as good but much cheape
I brought this coffee machine as a present for my partner at Christmas.
The machine itself is easy to use and clean and can produce fairly nice coffee. It is a fairly small machine, and would probably be best for just one person to use.
The milk frother isn’t the best, and whilst it does produce frothy warm milk, it certainly isn’t the best!
But overall, a good first coffee machiene.
EDIT: I’M STILL READING COMPLAINTS ABOUT LUKE WARM COFFEE….EITHER READ THIS OR PRACTICE. MY COFFEE IS PIPING HOT. EVERYTHING WRONG WITH WHAT YOU’RE DOING, NOT THE MACHINE.
I’m not a big coffee drinker, per say. However I do enjoy one made by a barista, like a latte or cappuccino. I honestly didn’t think this machine would be up to much in comparison…how wrong was I? Just lately I’ve found cafe bought coffee’s lacking in flavour and somewhat ‘thin’, to what I remember some years back. This machine takes some practice and some tips. So here goes;
Put it on, once you’re all set and leave the “stop” button onto, OFF. Once the “stop” button lights up blue, put the steam button onto the ‘on’ position. The blue light on the “stop” button will go out. Don’t worry about that, that’s already been lit up to tell you the machine is at temperature. When the steam button lights up, you are ready to steam your milk. I bought a small metal jug, which I fill to just under the spout. This will give you plenty, once it’s frothed, although doesn’t look like much. I bang the jug to get the air bubbles out of the milk,(I use whole milk for best results), then I swirl the milk as I steam it. IMPORTANT NOTE: PUT A CLOTH ON YOUR COUNTER AND ‘PURGE’ THE STEAM WAND. THIS MEANS, TURN IT TO FULL STEAM BEFORE IT GOES INTO THE MILK. LET IT SPIT ALL THE ACCESS WATER OUT UNTIL STEAM COMES OUT AND YOU ARE READY TO STEAM YOUR MILK. It takes two goes of the blue light of the steamer switching on and off, for just the right temperature for me. As the milk reaches temperature, pull the jug down so the milk is frothing more at the top. Once the milk is frothed, turn down steam button, set milk aside and “Purge” the steam wand again, to rid of excess milk. Push “stop” button to on and your expresso will start pouring. Press “stop” to stop the flow, as it WON’T AUTOMATICALLY STOP FLOWING. Pour expresso into a cup. Bang milk on the counter to get rid of any more air bubbles and swirl both cup and milk as you pour, respectively. Now? Is this the right way to make a latte/cappuccino? No idea, but I get a beautiful strong, milky and frothy coffee from doing it this way. Want an expresso? Just leave the steam button. I never thought I’d be able to make a coffee this good, with such a cheap machine. I had one from Starbucks one week prior to buying it, it was like ditchwater in comparison. My only bug bear is the instructions were a bit vague and you definitely need practice. But hopefully my tips will help you. I’m still learning…
I’ve had 2 x 80 machines in the last few years. First one died, then the second, morphy Richards one blocked up too after 18 months. Replacement was about 120 but got this for around 30 and it’s even better. I don’t like pods I prefer to use my own ground coffee and make the qty I want. I use qualita Rossa. My delicious coffee is quick to make and the machine easy to clean and it’s the best 30 I’ve spent to date
Cannot fault this machine. Didn’t expect a high-quality espresso considering the price but I was pleasantly amazed at just how good it is. Build quality is not the best so only time will tell how long it will last but overall very happy with this purchase.
Very good coffee machine, great flavor, easy to use and clean and good price I really recommend this produc
I’d had a Delonghi expresso machine for about 5 years before it finally died.
I was looking for a more expensive bean to cup machine to replace it, and decided to save up for a really nice one, but needed sometime to keep me going and spotted this one.
At this price I wasn’t convinced it would be any good, but equally because of the price I thought you can’t go far wrong.
Upon it arriving and unboxing it, the initial impressions are that it’s smaller than most expresso machines, which isn’t a bad thing. The water tank is a fairly decent size and there is more then enough clearance room under to fit a reasonable sized cup. The negative first impressions are build quailty. It feels very cheap and plastic. The rear water tank looks like its almost borrowed from another device as it doesn’t fit flush to the sides and sticks out a bit.
But the most important thing is use and how good it makes coffee, and I have to say this is where it really is a bargain. When you first use it I highly recommend you run it through at least 1 whole tank of water, without any coffee just to flush the system though. I only did a couple of cups this way and the first coffee I tried tasted of plastic. But flushing it though a couple more times and it fixed that issue.
Now compared to a more expensive machine the fit and finish is never going to be as good. It feels and looks cheap. And when in use the metal drip tray did vibrate a lot, but you can move the cup around a bit to reduce that. You could fit so sticky backed foam adding the lip that would fix that issue completely if it annoys you. V it does take about a minute to warm up initially. I didn’t see it mentioned in the manual but when you switch it on you have to wait for a serving light on the button that starts the machine running to light up, telling you it’s up to temperature. This machine is really easy to use, especially if you have ever used a different one before and it actually makes are really good expresso with a nice Crema. It’s also easy to clean. I don’t expect it to last 5 years like my old Delonghi did, but at this price I wouldn’t expect it to.
Final note. I noticed in many reviews people saying the coffee wasn’t very hot. It had been hot every time I’ve made one so far. Maybe they are not waiting for the temperature light to go on begot making it.
Highly recommend it as a budget machine. Great for anyone looking to get into making proper coffee for the first time.
Cheap at normal price ( 56) but on offer at 41 an absolute bargain. Problem with many of these machines is that you cannot extract maximum flavour from the coffee however much you fiddle around. Fill the pod on this one to ” Max” level and it makes a consistent super strong coffee which is better than I got from from my previous 3 DeLonghi machines which were 3X the price. Heats up quickly. Makes the coffee quickly. Froth wand works well. Coffee is hot unlike some machines.
Easy to clean. The compromise is that it is quite plasticky, the switches don’t inspire confidence that they will last and the wand seems a bit flimsy but time will tell. My last Delonghi failed after 9 months and is currently back with them for repair. I may not bother to use it again even if they get it fixed. My previous 2 DeLonghis lasted 2-3 years before breaking down. On that basis if I get a year out of the Amazon Basics model it will have been worth it.
Basic, Easy to use. Excellent value. Coffee good, easier to clean than the last expensive one . Found the steamer was long enough. Cups warm on the top. For the cost well worth it. Also much lighter to move . Would buy again or recommend.
You aren’t going to be opening a coffee shop armed with these but they are great for home coffee. I’ve bought a few sub 200 coffee machines and they are all about the same so if that’s your price range then you might as well get this one and save yourself some cash.
I use it from over a year and is still making a very good coffee. For the cheap price is making more than an expensive coffee maker.
For the price this coffee maker is superb. Produces good coffee reliably. Five stars, though a couple of issues.
The only gripe, though this applies to all low price coffee makers, is the steam supply. Is it asking too much that when you switch on the steam switch it supplies steam? Variously it dribbles out water or the steam dies away to nothing. And as for that light that signals if it is hot enough? Switches on and off randomly and bears no relationship to the steam coming out. Does on mean it is ready? Or does off mean ready? I have no idea.
Any supplier that produces a low cost machine with a decent steam maker will sweep the market.
One other design issue. Having the steam control switch above the steam outlet means you tend to get burnt when you turn it.
Reviewed alot of machines when purchasing and reviews on this was amazing. My husband loves i
Great coffee machine have it for 5 months now and it works perfectly every time and I use it everyday. Decent steam as well. Easy to clean to maintain and most of all the coffee taste good when you find how to better do it!
Great machine best one ive ever had and a great price
Some flooding of area around base of spray from water spout. Manageable, however.
Not too big, Easy to use, I got this as a gift for my boyfriends birthday and he LOVES it!
Not too much space if you want to froth milk, and also you will have to have a small cup to fit under where the coffee comes out of.
I have had a 300 Gaggia machine and this makes better, certainly hotter coffee with a good crema head. For the price you surely wont do better.
I love it. Very good quality and excellent value for money.
It is just great! Very easy to use and is making an amazing coffee much better then others bigger brands.
All coffee is full of creamy. Is very easy to use and clean. And is not big therefore it won’t take you from the kitchen’s space.
I bought it for my mother and for my mother in law as well because I liked it so much.
Bought this for my daughter and she absolutely loves it.
It was really good for price nice and easy to use
I bought this a couple of months ago and was quite sceptical about the quality of the product vs the price.
I used to work as a barista in my younger years so know how to make a good coffee!
This product is not a professional barista machine.
It does eventually froth the milk great and filters the coffee lovely I am pleased with the products for the cost.
It needs filling up with water less than I expected and doesn’t take as long as I guessed it would to warm up from off.
I treat myself to this oppose to buying a 3 coffee every morning it makes coffees 10 times better than the big company machines
This machine does make good coffee, but it’s not that old and it seems the milk frother is starting to run out of steam.
Will see how this goes, but I do like the coffee it produces and for the price it great value, if it keeps on frothing that is.
This produces a really nice blend of coffee. Easy to use and clean. Tends to be quite noisy as the drip tray doesn’t settle well and rattles – but this is an excellent value product that is better than many other machines at the same price.
Perfect, we use it in the office and staff are really pleased with it.
Really nice coffee machine good blending power very easy to clean and the flavour is really awesome I love it thanks
So basic and easy to use. You get exactly what you pay for, no more no less. I’ve had this since April 2020 and it has been the best purchase since Covid hands down! Has got me through working from home 😀
Easy to use, milk frothed is great. My only issue is the size of the handle for coffee grounds means you can’t make a particularly large and strong cup of coffee and I wouldn’t make 2 at a time unless you just want espresso. My husband has 2 shots to combat this!
Too short with drip tray to put a larger mug in.
Bought for my wife. Offered her one of the flashier, all singing and dancing models but she insisted on this one. Anne loves it, says it does everything that she could ask for. And I am about 120 better off than I thought i was going to be.
I love this machine! Yeah yeah it causes wells in coffee and you can make things in the wrong order and burn the coffee. However for the price it’s fantastic and for 9 in 10 people will do exactly the job required.
It’s not a bad looking thing but there are better out there.
The water tank is a great size and really easy to use.
Makes a decent coffee especially if you prefer milk based coffees.
Really can’t fault this coffee machine and I love using it several times a day.
It doos its job. It is not the best coffee machine, but it worths the money. What can you expect for 60. The coffee comes out with good flavour. The small pipe in which the steam comes out is bad quality because every time while using it the milk stick on it and you cant clean it using a tissue for example. Generally is very good.
This is great value for money. I bought this to get away from using plastic pods, I love it! Easy to use , I like my coffee very hot so the wand steamer is great and easy to use, could be a bit longer but it’s ok.
Bought this to use in our Motorhome when on hook up. Works really well and produces a good cup of coffee, though the taste will depend on the coffee you use. Easy to clean and store.
Bought for sin birthday present he seems to like i
As good as more expensive I’ve had in the past.
Its a great and easy to set up however i was fairly disappointed with the quality of the coffee coming out of my machine it taste very watery rather than a good strong coffee .
Basic, easy to use espresso maker. Great for daily use.
Not too much of an expert of coffee machines, but I can definitely say that it does it’s job. Works perfectly for me.
Better than last machine a Krupp’s, makes good coffee recommend i
First espresso coffee machine we’ve bought and so far so good. The coffee isn’t amazing but it’s certainly better than the instant.
Definitely value for money
I purchased this machine and was pleasantly surprised. Makes a decent expresso coffee and despite what it says in some reviews froths milk well. This is every bit as good as my Gaggia Classic machine costing 5 times as much.
Great machine excellant value , good frother and nice hot coffee easy to clean and maintain thankyou
Did not want to invest in an expensive machine at this moment as I didn’t know how much I would use such a machine. delivered on time and compared to some of the other cheap machines I have viewed in shops this really is much better quality with a more expensive feel about it. very well put together and feels robust. easy to use and easy to clean. I would recommend this machine for anyone like me a little unsure whether to invest or not. Instructions easy to follow.
Fantastic little machine! I have a couple of complaints which can be forgiven due to the price:
* The steam wand is a little short, you can make some milk for a latte fine, but cappuccinos are out of the question
* After I use the steam wand, I pull an espresso shot – the stream is very ‘spitty’ and the espresso shot comes out quite bitter and the body of the espresso isn’t great, sometimes steamed water comes out from the handle of the portafilter and ends up all over the table.
If you’re more into your Americano or espresso then it’s fine – if you want to push the boat out and make a latte it’s… okay, if you want to go further I think you’ll need a more expressive machine, but the clue is in the title: Amazon Basics.
The espresso machine has a fairly large water tank, you can also prepare foamy and creamy milk but it is not that easy to use although I can say that it fulfils all its functions which are to prepare a good espresso, cappuccino or lattes. etc.
That is, if taking into account what type of beans you use to make your coffee in this machine, I use the ones you can see in the images and I grind them very well so that my coffee comes out a little darker as I usually like.
It arrived very well packaged and with an extra 100 ml ceramic cup, although when preparing the coffee it does not come out as hot as I would like the cup fits well inside the machine and gives you a good amount of espresso coffee. (watch video)
It feels robust with a good weight and I think it is a good machine for the price it has but, I prefer something more practical that is not a little less complicated when making my coffee because many times I need a coffee with quick preparation with this machine takes me a lot longer than I thought to make my light coffee, considering these machines generally take longer than the others I have, but I stick with my old machine.
My partner is using it, he liked it, so I think you have to have a lot more patience to make coffee in this juicer and I don’t think he has that patience every day hahaha.
So, in general, I think it is good compared to the price of 55.69 pounds but I would save a little more by buying a much more practical machine because I do not like to complicate myself when it comes to making coffee although this machine does fulfil all its functions.
I hope you find my review, video and photos helpful.
This espresso machine, as the name suggests is a basic espresso machine that does the job and gives you a nice frothy cup of your favourite espresso. It’s very easy to use and set up. I found the frother a little temperamental at times but once you get the hang of it it’s easy to use. Can’t go wrong for 50
This Espresso, Cappuccino and Lattes machine is super because it came so quickly which was fantastic and, the quality is absolutely spectacular!
I love how easy it is to set up and also how easy it is to use. It comes with a spoon and a shot size mug for your beverages!
It’s splendid and i absolutely love it. The price is great and I would definitely highly recommend it.
It looks great on display too which is fantastic and it feels like I am in a coffee shop when I am making my beverages! Love it..
Not a bad coffee machine, however too much hustle to make a coffee. Slightly plastic look and steamer isn’t very strong. I would spend a bit more next time and get the one with the build in blende
This is a small and stylish coffee machine. I have a tiny kitchen so I was worried that it would be too bulky but it is actually smaller than my microwave and looks very neat. This is a basic machine that essentially just makes espressos but also gives you the ability to make frothed milk if you want to make lattes etc. It comes with clear instructions and is easy to use. You just fill up the water tank and put in the ground coffee and you are good to go. I only have a few coffees a day and found the water tank held enough water for the day. The machine is quick if you are desperate for your morning coffee. It is slightly noisy which did worry me a bit as the walls are quite thin. I definitely would not use this machine if I was having to get up early and everyone else was sleeping in. I very much enjoyed the coffee this machine produced and I was especially impressed with the milk frother. I am a bit concerned about how easy the machine is to clean especially as I live in a hard water area. I guess I will just have to frequently use descaler. I am now hoping that Amazon Basics will produce a coffee pod machine!
This machine works as it should do, and dispenses the espresso as required, and comes with a ceramic espresso cup, don’t try and put other cups under the dispenser though as it is quite low.
The switch control are foolproof and ensure that you are there to use it, no sensing or automatic functions, not that they are needed. THe tank on the back simply lifts off to be refilled and push fits down again.
The packaging is minimal and comes in cardboard box with foam protection of the machine itself.
The accessories and manual are included within the foam so check that everything is included before discarding the box and packaging.
THe milk frother is also working well, a bit overkill for a small house, especially at night trying to make a coffee whilst trying not to wake the house is a challenge as it can be a little noisy.
This is what the branding says it is “AmazonBasics’. I have tried a few of the Amazon Basics range and I have been very pleased with them.
This is a machine that will give you a double espresso, it then gives you the option of heating milk to make your espresso into a frothy milky drink according to your taste this can be a cappuccino or a latte.
This machine has a good size water reservoir that will dispense at least 6 cups of double espresso depending on when you stop the machine. This machine does not come with an auto stop feature and this definitely caught me out initially. There is everything you need to make a cup of coffee and just need to purchase the ground coffee.
As I mentioned this is a basic machine, it makes a good cup of coffee though I would prefer it to have been a little hotter. It does froth milk well with the steamer. What makes this a basic machine is that there is no auto-stop function or a cleaning function that you would get on more expensive machines. But this is a good machine, it feels robust and does a good job of making my black coffee. The pressure is also good and my coffee tastes almost as good as it does from my considerably more expensive one.
Overall, if you are after a good all-round low budget single-cup espresso machine that has the option of a milk steamer then this is a very good option. It does what it is supposed to do and gives good results. I am happy with it and it will get a lot of use in my home office.
For the price, it is very good quality and performs very well. I would be more than happy to recommend it.
It isn’t the best machine on the market, but it dose a good job. Really easy to use simple to clean dose the job without any problems.
Would recommend for coffee lovevers on a budget.
I love this little espresso machine, it is simple to use and even easier to clean. I have had countless espresso shots from this already and the consistency is brill. The portafilter is easy to fill via the removable basket and only goes back in one way, the portafilter itself locks in nicely with no bother, another nice feature is the plastic clip that you flip up to hold the basket in place to bang the used coffee puck out into the bin., it even comes with a shot style cup, scoop, and tamper.
The drip tray is easy to remove and clean, though does vibrate slightly when pre-infusing and pouring. The water tank holds 1.5L so enough to keep me going for at least a day.
It is a simple espresso maker which are very easy to use and does not require any special training. Just put a grounded coffee in the portafilter, put in the machine and push a button. And enjoy coffee. As well a nice surprise was an expresso cup included in a box, a nice little touch. It is one of smaller coffee makers so it will not take too much space, which is very good especially in smaller kitchens. Then working it can make a bit of noise as it is a pressure machine. The tank for water is 1.5 litres so it will last the whole day without refiling if drinking just expresso. The temperature of the water could be slightly higher, so really would be a nice function to have the ability to change temperatures. However, then making latte it heats up a mile really good. Overall it is a simple espresso machine which will make a good cup of coffee in the morning. And a delicious late in the afternoon. Especially then seeing the price, as it performs the same as a machines with same functions just for a higher price.
Really nice little coffee maker. Get the right beans and consistency and it makes really nice coffee. Milk frothed nicely too.
I typically drink black coffee and have a filter machine which works well for me. However, I do like a Cappuccino/Latte and some times just a white coffee. But for me, it needs to be easy to be worthwhile. I have tried a number of different machines, including a 500+ Bean to cup with milk option (sounds great but a faff to clean) and Nespresso (don’t understand why they are so popular… don’t do it for me) and both using separate Milk Frother. They all work but don’t give the “proper coffee” experience.
In my opinion you need;
: a steam wand for milk
: decent crema layer on black coffee
: quick to use from turn on
: simple to use and clean
This machine does all of this and is amazing value for money.
It’s very well designed with a decent size detachable water tank at the rear which is simple to remove and fill under the tap.
You turn the machine on and within literally no time is ready to use. And it is simplicity itself. There is a rocker switch for the only 2 settings Coffee or Milk. Then you twist the knob and it does its thing.
No need to have multiple settings and messing about. If you want;
– Espresso twist the knob until your espresso cup is full, for a black coffee with crema layer twist know until that is full.
– White coffee (one of my favourites with this machine) put some cold milk in a coffee cup, twist the knob until it’s full and there’s a perfect white coffee with Crema layer.
– Latte / Cappuccino, make your espresso and then move the rocker switch to Milk, when the amber light shows it is up to temp put a cup or mug under the Steam Wand (I use a stainless steel jug with built in temperature strip) then turn the dial and it will steam the milk, you just turn the switch off when it’s at you desired temperature. Pour the Milk over your coffee and it looks like you just got it in a coffee shop.
It is so easy to use and the results are worthy of a machine many times its price.
Very pleased with this coffee machine. No loud noise, get very quick ready to make coffee. I am definitely recommend this one.
I couldn’t believe that an expresso machine that it is not so expensive could make such a good coffee
Absolutely fabulous machine, easy to use, the coffee is amazing. The frothing nozzle is perfect works on all types of milk.
I received this as a birthday present on 6th June. I am so very impressed with this simple to use machine. It is relatively quick to make a coffee, is easy to operate although I have yet to try the cappuccino function. It’s only been a few days and so it is possible that issues may arise. But, for now, I cannot rate this highly enough.
Only used a few times but it does make a good coffee nice clear instruction manual, only used a couple of times and can now use it without the instructions. Nice and easy to clean and set up, only complaint I have is my mugs dont fit underneath unless I remove the drip tray and the steamer is a bit low down so can only use a small jug. But all in all a nice tidy machine. Good value for the price.
There are a few misleading reviews regarding this product…but they’re comparing this to machines that should retail at least 4 times the price.
The product makes good coffee, if you use fresh beans and as long as you’re using it at home or for the odd coffee in a cafe it’s worth the money.
Very easy to clean, though it does occasionally leak and the milk steamer does take a while to heat up before it blows hot steam as opposed to water.
So some minor issues, but for the price, it’s a reasonable product.
Bought a delonghi one first which was on offer but was useless and leaked inside which was very disappointing as expected better from the make so returned it. As a barista I would love to have a professional high end machine but finances don’t allow so I took a chance on this amazon one and wasn’t expecting much but have to say I am very happy with this machine. It produces lovely coffee with the all important creme on top. I’ve waited a month to write a review to see if it still performed well and it does. Well done amazon! Sometimes cheaper is better.
Great machine, does the job & is excellent value for money
This will make a decent cup of espresso.
It’s not the best, you need to know how to use one to begin with, but it’s nothing special.
The milk foamer is meh, the pressure and temperature just seem to be too low.
This is bargain basement but its better than a cafetire in my opinion.
There isn’t a user manual included – at least not in mine – which isn’t ideal but maybe that was just a one-off. Thankfully I have used a few of these machines so knew what I was doing.
I bought this as I was interested in entering the world of at-home espresso and milky drinks. The price is very competitive and overall the machine does provide a good introduction to ‘pulling an espresso’ and steaming milk for cappuccinos, lattes, mochas etc.
This is a good espresso machine to get if you plan on just making coffee for yourself and one other person.
Pros
* Very compact- this only takes up 19cm in bench space and works even in a small kitchen. Makes it easy to store too.
* large water tank.
* Simple controls. The lack of bells and whistles is a bonus here. Simply choose coffee or milk and then turn the knob to start and end each cycle.
* Packaging is minimal and primarily cardboard. Only a small amount of plastic.
Cons
* No pressure gauge – for some this will be a dealbreaker, but if you’re just getting into espresso-making at home then it still makes good coffee without it!
* Milk wand is very short and a little awkward. It takes trial and error to successfully heat the the milk and achieve small bubbles at the right temp without overheating the milk.
* It does feel a little cheap, but then this is reflective of the price. It’s very light and much of the machine and accessories are plastic. Although it feels cheap I don’t think it looks as cheap as it feels.
This machine is a good way to explore making espresso at home to try recreating your favourite coffee shop drinks. It’s functionality is very simple and it doesn’t have any bells or whistles, which will be a relief to some, but a frustration to others. Would recommend to beginners interested in learning more about espresso and coffee.
It is a nice machine, BUT i am afraid to use it because even though i am elderly i am ham fisted and scared of doing something wring and breaking it. I will NEVER buy an Amazon product again, i asked for a user manual and you DONT supply them? What kind of company are you? I have bought a llot from Amazon overr the past 20+ years and nevr had a problem until now, this is the first and last time i will buy an Amazon electric produt. I Googled the user manual and each one i tried wanted you to have a membership and they would take a payment monthly from your bank account which is a bloody rip off, so thanks for notthing Amazon.
Love this machine! It’s easy to use, cheap and really well built for the price! Would recommend, only problem I have is that I wish the espresso was hotte
It was very easy to use this coffee machine, no professional skills required, yet still make a nice cup of coffee. It seems like more design for one person usage. Cleaning is the part I hate the most, that is why I don’t really use a coffee machine, same problem with this one.
We’ve had this a while now and it’s been a bit of a learning curve to get used to compared to our old jug type filter coffee maker, but it does make a pretty good cup of coffee, flat or frothy. It’s not powerful enough to make multiple cups and just about makes two mugs of cappuccino, but if you want a coffee maker for one or two people, then it’s probably an affordable way to do so.
We normally use it to make two mugs of cappuccino and it’s a bit of a faff, but it does make a good coffee, not as hot as coffee shop coffee, but good. It’s ideal for one large mug, but I think it’s aimed at making two espressos, or for one user. Perfect for two small coffees, but struggles to make to large mugs.
The frother is good, but the nozzle doesn’t move up out of the way very well and means you have to use a short container or mug to froth the milk in.
So, in summary, it makes a good coffee and is absolutely ideal for one person, or two small cups, but it struggles to make two large mugs of coffee. Been pretty reliable so far and is reasonably easy to use, once you get the hang of it.
This Espresso maker from the AmzonBasics brand is very much just that a basic espresso maker. Its compact with a small footprint so it won’t take up lots of space on the kitchen worktop. Its predominantly plastic which though not the best looking of materials does mean its easy to clean and is lightweight. Being a bit on the light side has the advantage of meaning you can easily move it about, a necessity as the removable water reservoir is at the rear of the machine. So in most kitchens its likely to be necessary to twist the machine around in order to access it. If I’d been designing the machine I’d aim to locate the reservoir at the side for easier accessibility. Personally I find the lid/grill over the drip tray a bit annoying as it slips about with the slightest knock. My wife however said she didn’t notice anything amiss with it. The machine has a useful and effective cup warmer on the top though which is always an essential feature for coffee makers. Espresso should always be poured into a warm cup! The frother works well too though I do find it a bit stiff to twist around, but that may be because the machine is still new. Most importantly of course is that the espresso maker does produce a decent coffee. Clearly water is pushed through the coffee at the correct temperature and correct pressure. In summary I’d say the machine is exactly what it clams basic but effective. Ideal for users who perhaps only make an occasional espresso, or those with limited space to site it.
As with all AmazonBasics products, this does what it needs to with little fuss and no frills. It’s quite small, so ideal for a small kitchen, though that does mean it will only accept small coffee cups. It comes to heat quite quickly and produces a pretty decent coffee with a nice creme finish. There is a milk frother, though I drink my coffee black.
Overall, there’s little to fault. Its basic looks mean it won’t exactly be a feature in your kitchen, but if you favour function over form, then that’s fine. At the time of this review there’s no price shown, which would be a critical factor in determining whether to take this product in preference to any of the brand name alternatives. If the price is right then this could represent a very good buy.
My first thoughts were, this is easy to use. The sieve holder function makes it very easy to throw away used coffee granules (I tend to keep mine to put on my hostas in the winter to deter slugs). The steam heat /froth function works well. It does take a little while to get to temperature after you turn it on but I don’t consider that a big deal.
In a taste comparison between this and my cafetire with the same amount of coffee and water, there was no difference except that the Espresso Coffee Machine made it delightfully frothy which is a nicer texture when drinking. The main difference is that the machine coffee was not as hot, so if you like your coffee really hot, you would need to microwave it slightly. You can use the frother to heat it, this worked too.
Very pleased with this little coffee machine. Its very easy to use, just add water, scoop in your coffee, lock and switch on, when your cup is full turn it off. The build quality is really good and the coffee comes out nice and frothy and smells and tastes delicious. Love i
This is a pretty decent espresso maker- it’s pretty simple to use and has instructions which are easy to follow. Use ground coffee not beans and there is a guide as to how much you should use. You have to use a coffee cup, not a standard mug, as it won’t fit underneath. However, it is for espresso, so that’s to be expected.
I would give this five stars, but I didn’t find it particularly easy to clean. However, it makes a perfectly decent cup and looks nice in your kitchen! Recommended
Overall pretty good. Really simple to use. There is a water tank at the back of the machine that you just lift out vertically to take to the sink to fill, the top closure doubles as a handle for carrying it.
Just two controls, switch the machine on and then use the plastic scoop to place one level scoop of ground coffee into the sieve/portafilter. The other end of the scoop has a flat end for pressing down on the coffee to compact it as much as possible.
The portafilter then slides in place and you turn it from left to right to lock it into position.
Then switch the button to coffee and the coffee starts dribbling through.
You need to use a proper coffee cup style of cup not a mug because the height of the standard mug won’t fit.
Switch off when you have the desired amount of coffee.
The coffee we’ve made has been delicious and with a lovely smooth and even Crme on the top.
The other side of the switch produces steam through the nozzle for frothing milk which also works well.
It loses one star because when you try to remove the sieve/portafilter after use, if you’re not careful, the two detach and separate from each other and make a mess on the table. You just have to remember to give it a little wiggle before you lift it away from the machine .
