I like Anker – this is my third Anker USB C hub. It’s the most expensive one I’ve gotten, it has the most connections, and it’s the cheapest feeling and looking one too.
From a functional standpoint, this works well. I’ve run everything but PD through it (so charging my laptop directly but then connecting an external monitor, headphones, keyboard, mouse, ethernet, and SD card through the dock) and it works without issue. It doesn’t even heat up that much which is a nice perk since other docks/hubs I’ve used with this much connection variety were very hot. I didn’t test the transfer speed though since I would use the USB A port directly on my laptop if I really needed to transfer files quickly. The headphone jack is good – not breathtaking but perfectly suitable for watching a movie or making a video call.

My issue with this is the built quality. It’s plastic. Or if it isn’t plastic, it feels like plastic. My other Anker hubs are metal and feel like they could take a beating. They also came with a protective sleeve. This hub doesn’t. I originally got this thinking I would use it as a travel hub since it has so many connections. Instead I’ll be leaving this on my desk and using it as my home hub and taking my other Anker hubs with me for travel.

As a hub, this is solid and very functional. Build quality this is pretty disappointing compared to Anker’s typical level of quality. Price wise…. I can’t recommend this at all.

    Good but decidedly overpriced

This hub from Anker has a unique design that I like a lot. Even though I own more expensive hubs, this is the one that is currently in my laptop bag to go with my MacBook that I take with me when I’m traveling or just out for the day. The faux leather material feels really premium and it’s compact to have as many ports as it does. My one big issue is the price considering that it is mostly made from plastic, I think it should be made out of aluminum alloy for $100, there are plenty of others that are. But, I will say that the materials used here makes it stay cooler when you have 65 watts of power passing through to charge your laptop. The metal ones get hotter while charging.

The one thing I miss and wish that this had would be a USB C data port, sometimes you still need one of those and it’s a big thing that I look for in a USB C hub. Yes, it has a USB C port, but only for passthrough charging. If it had one then it would be 5 stars, easily (or if it was priced more fairly at $70-$80).

Great little hub, just priced $20-$30 above what it's worth

I’m a huge Anker fan and for the most part, I’ve had way more hits than misses. This is no exception.

I absolutely love that it’s USB-C because most laptops are switching to that instead of the barrel connectors. I also love how easy it is to transport since the USB-C cord plugs into itself.

You really can’t go wrong with this hub!

I’m really glad I got this hub. All I was really looking for was a way to get more USB-C ports and to add some USB-A ports to my M1 MacBook Pro. What I got was:

    (a) It’s made by Anker, so I’m pretty sure it won’t explode my MacBook when I plug it in.
    (b) Two USB-A 10 Gbps ports (USB-A 3.2 Gen 2)
    (c) A PD port, so the USB-C port this gizmo takes is still available for power (but not data).
    (d) A faster SD card reader than the one I was using (which I can now use with a new iMac that needed one!)
    (e) A headphone jack — which the MacBook Pro already has.
    (f) An Ethernet port, which I mostly won’t use but I feel better having one available.
    (g) An HDMI port, which I mostly won’t use but will come in handy someday. Or maybe I’ll splurge on an external display and then not have to stress about the lack of a port when that happens.
    (h) It only uses one of the laptop’s USB-C ports. (What’s up with hubs that plug into both ports? How does that help, especially if you don’t give me a USB-C port on the hub to make up for taking up both of them? I can’t imagine getting one of those.)

The build quality on this is nice. It feels sturdy, and is just the right size and weight for my needs. The plug that connects to the laptop is weird: it’s on the thick side. It doesn’t extend past the top or bottom of the laptop, though, so it’s fine.
I tried a few things running at once: a USB-A portable drive, a USB-C SSD on the laptop’s other port, and looking at photos on an SD card. Nothing hiccupped; it all ran smooth. I also tried running the external drive while the charger wasn’t plugged into the PD port, and it ran just fine.
All in all, a nicely built, well-functioning, handy device.

I have had excellent luck with Anker products so when I saw this hub I just had to try it. There are about a zillion hubs on Amazon with all kinds of connection combinations. Finding the right one starts with figuring out which connections you need and then reading reviews to find the best device.

In my case I have a new laptop that I wanted to use strictly for financial access. I wanted to add accessories like an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and wanted to hardwire it to stay off of Wi-Fi. My laptop has no network or external video connectors and only 2 USB connectors, so things were limited. An external hub was the obvious choice and Anker came to the rescue.

The hub is compact and solidly built with a metal enclosure wrapped in a slightly textured grey finish. All of the connection jacks are of high quality and all plugs and USB sticks fit well with no binding. The attached USB-C cable is fabric covered and flexible and long enough for most uses though in my case I chose to use an extender cable to allow me to mount the hub under my table.

For my proof-of-concept test I loaded up the hub with a 4K monitor, a 500K Ethernet connection, a USB stick, a wireless dongle, and a power connection to my laptop. I was able to simultaneously stream 4K video from the Internet while writing to the USB stick at full 3.0 speeds, and using the wireless mouse and keyboard through the dongle. In addition I was charging my laptop at what appeared to be full speed based on some earlier testing. I used a 96W charger to power the hub and everything connected. During the hour long test the hub did get a bit warm but nothing even close to concerning. I did not test the audio jack or the memory card connectors as I have no need for them. In a separate test I was able to validate via SpeedTest that the hub’s Ethernet connection was able to max out my 500K Comcast cable modem service.

The unit seems a bit pricey given the limited connections but Anker tends to build quality devices and I expect this little hub to work for years to come. If this combination of connections meets your needs, then I don’t think you can go wrong with this device.

This dock is amazing, everything you would expect from Anker, solid build quality, elegant design, compact and feature rich.

The one issue I have with it though, is that the connector is very tall. I like that it is a right angle, but it is way taller than most laptops and it over hangs them and possibly props them up if they are on a table.

The braided cable gives me confidence that it won’t break anytime soon, although it would be nice if you could replace the cable if it did.

Overall the dock provides a great amount of ports for my surface and compatibility with windows seems to be good.

This small hub adds useful ports to my laptop – notably standard USB ports and ethernet. There is a short attached cable that stows in the USB-C power port when packed away, like in my laptop bag. The cable length is fine, and the plug end is at a right angle. It has USB-C PD so I can attach a power supply via the adapter, keeping a port free. The model I have is a metallic gray, with a leather-like vinyl wrap – giving it a premium look and feel. Performance has suited my needs fine – for connecting external SSD’s, flash drives and the occasional wired ethernet connection. Overall, the fit and finish of this hub is a step above my previous one – complimenting my laptop nicely.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersJeder kennt das. Unbedingte Kaufempfehlung.

Everything works as it should to extend a display and connect additional USB devices. PD power supply required for this and will charge transfer SD card data quickly. Design is simple (catering to the Apple crowd) and port layout is good, though I wished this had one USB-A in the rear instead of both up front (appears to have enough space in the rear for another USB port). In the photo, I have a single wired USB gaming mouse attached to this up front, when it would be easier to layout on my desk if all regular connected ports were in the rear with maybe a single one in front for additional peripherals.

The cord is quite stiff considering it’s kind of short and the silicone-feeling housing for the Type C is super chonky, but makes for easy handling for connecting and disconnecting the 90 degree head. For ultra thin laptops, the connector may even become a base or resting foot for the computer while connected, so this is something to take into consideration. Mine had about 1mm of clearance.

While this is a basic USB-C hub, the price tag is very high when there are lots of other smaller reputable brands to chose from at less than half the price. Considering Anker has come a long way from their early products, which in my experience, have always been excellent and last a long while, this is well designed and matches well with Apple products, and of course comes nicely retail packaged in the typical Anker blue and white box.

Works flawlessly on a Lenovo 6th gen X1 Carbo

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMy initial impression: This reminds me and it even feels like an old-school vintage camera!

This USB-C hub has all the ports you need for productivity. The build quality is more than premium, and it works seamlessly with the M1 MacBook Air. It even has an ethernet port for wired internet capability, and also a PD USB-C port to keep the MacBook powered. The USB-A ports are useful since the newer Macs have those removed. My ONLY issue is for those who have a case with their (M1) MacBook Air or similar MacBook, it won’t close because of how bulky the USB-C input is. Fortunately, I do not need to close the MacBook as I use both screens simultaneously. Overall, this makes a great all-in-one hub for anyone looking to convert their laptop into a nice little workstation.

A must-have for M1 MacBook Air users on the go!
