Initially ordered one with white speaker covers. There was an issue with an area on one of the speakers where the white was inconsistent. However I returned this unit and ordered the black unit. No issues with it, looks good, very good sound and excellent battery life.

I’ve been looking at purchasing a new radio for a long time as my now pensionable, but much loved and used Roberts radio has reached its sell-by date. I wanted a radio that I could recharge and carry around with me without having to worry about replacing a Lancaster bomb load of batteries, had a good battery life and excellent sound quality.
I’ve only had it for one day, and its been an absolute joy! I put it on charge immediately upon receipt and it took about two hours to indicate fully charged and ready to rock. I then did a scan to find the DAB radio stations and it came up with about 96 of them in a few seconds. I chose the four I wanted and loaded them as presets, which was really easy to do and switching between the preset stations is simplicity itself.
Initially I found sound quality to be a bit ‘fluffy’, but playing around with the on-board equalizer made an astonishing difference to both voice and music quality – I’m genuinely impressed and unless you have the hearing sensitivity of a pipistrelle bat, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!
Battery life is given as around 10 hours. I’m not sure what that’s based on, but I’ve had this radio running for 5 hours now at 1/3rd volume (which is plenty for me) and it hasn’t dropped one bar in available power.
For a sub 70.00 radio I think this is a fabulous buy. Perhaps I’ll give another review after 6 months of continued use and see if I think differently. I hope not!

I brought this radio for my mum to use in the garden when she is out there planting. It’s ideal because it’s rechargeable and perfect sound because it’s DAB. She charges it over night and it will last a long time while in use. She even uses it when she comes inside and has it on sometimes when doing rhe house work. She is very pleased with it and so am I.

I’ve had this digital radio for almost a month, so have had time to familiarise myself with it.
One of the first things I did was remove the white strap as (like others have found) due to the way it is packed, has a permanent crease. Also the strap cannot be nicely tucked away so removal is the only option. This is done by simply unscrewing the two bolts on the side with a hex key.

Initial setup was easily done and stations were found in moments. The unit can store up to 30 or your favourite stations using the pre-set function which is handy.

The sound is very impressive. The bass response is most noticeable, and I had to decrease this setting – and I’m someone who’s addicted to bass. There is no distortion either.

As well as digital radio you can also select old school FM broadcasts, but let’s face it, who still prefers this option? The inclusion of Bluetooth allows you to ping audio from your smartphone so that you can use the unit as a speaker and get decent sound rather than the tinny noise from your phone’s speakers.
If you prefer, you could use the short cable included to plug into your phone’s headphone output for an uninterrupted connection (choosing the AUX function) – I keep the cable handy as I like to listen to Audible books from my phone.

As far as looks go, this radio does seem more expensive than at first glance. The layout is simple and uncluttered, and the LED screen is large enough to read without squinting. You can also cycle through the brightness of the screen by pressing the volume knob.

I’m very impressed with this radio and considering it’s from a no-name company then it was a nice gamble that’s paid off.

    PROS +
    Amazing sound
    Easy to use
    Looks impressive
    Handy features

    CONS –
    Plastic buttons

Great sound with nice added features

I find this radio very intuitive to use. The only thing that takes some getting used to is you have to press and hold the on button for a while to turn it on. The digital reception is very good – much better than a previous DAB radio I had in the same place. The sound is perfect for my needs, though I don’t want it very loud so haven’t tested that. I love that I can charge it up and use it away from a socket as well. It looks very nice and feels well made.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy initial reaction to this product was delight. It did all the things I needed it for, the sound was better than I was expecting (Bass and Treble can be adjusted directly by pressing the EQ button on the front) and pairing to my phone is automatic and reasonably fast. But, there is a …but!
The radio has a ‘Stand-by’ function (sort of). When you press the power button after listening to whatever, the radio goes into ‘Stand-By’ but there is no way to get it back out of stand-by except by pressing the power button again which powers the radio off then turning it back on again (I’ve tried every button on the thing). This unfortunately resets the clock to 0:00 (which will set itself from the radio if that option is enabled) but the point is, what is the point of stand-by if you have to turn it off anyway? There is no mention of the Stand-by feature in the manual save for the button list saying ‘Power On/Off – Standby’ That’s it! Other than that, nada!
It’s only a small thing but it can get annoying. I’d give 4.5 Stars if I could because the rest of the setup is well worth the money.

It’s a love hate for me. The sound is good enough and is reasonably loud for small room but it has issues.
Simple tasks like switching off is complicated. Its a long press to switch on. Press again and it goes to standby which shows the time. To switch on you have to press again which switches the display off and then need to long press to turn unit on. This get annoying if on Bluetooth connection and you pause for a while and it goes in to standby.
Other annoyances are the time doesn’t seem to be retained and is refreshed from the radio station. Great if switch on radio but if on Bluetooth when switchwd on time starts as 00:00. The last annoyance I have is periodically there’s a blip in the sound probably less than half a second of silence but it happens every so often. First I though it was the dab radio station signal, but it also happens on bluetooth so it’s got to be the unit.
Moving on the device has plenty of presets and the dab radio playback is fine and Bluetooth connection is simple. I normally use Bluetooth to play podcast which sound fine but music sounds great and full with the stereo 2 speaker setup.
I like the unit but and the other hand it annoys me but that said I live with it as it does what I need. It’s not perfect in my view but has the potential to be if my annoyances were ironed out. Its never going to be as refined as a top brand device but what you get is a device that performs well at a readable price.

I’ve had this product since the summer of last year and it performs very well. The DAB sound quality is good and no problem using Bluetooth from my iPad and MacBook. The volume and tone are excellent. I use it for listening to a range of musical genres, classical, pop, jazz, and also to podcasts and spoken word radio Absolutely perfect for me in my relatively compact living room. I usually run it from the mains, the battery charge doesn’t last very long but this is probably because I leave it in standby mode. I recommend this product and would buy agai

Very pleased with my purchase. Have been using Roberts radio until now but this is so much better. Was able to find many more stations and much better signal also the radio connects within seconds of pressing the start button. Sound through the twin speakers is great and adjustable to your preference. Battery life seems good although I haven’t had it run down to nothing. Excellent radio.

Likes; Clock display remains active even on standby, good for a bedside clock, you can always check the time. If you wish, you can cycle through the brightness options to get a level that suits you. Also you can turn the display off altogether with another short push of the power button after switching to standby. Sound quality is perfectly acceptable for a radio of this type, you’re never going to get earth moving deep bass from something like this, but it certainly doesn’t sound “tinny”. Reception indoors is as good as any other DAB radios I have. Some stations are not available indoors, but are received outdoors. Not a fault of the set, just a fact of life in my location.
Dislikes; I rather hoped that it would charge my phone overnight, but the charging port isn’t active on standby. Not a big issue, I have other ways of charging my phone.
PS. Some further thoughts prompted by question asked. The Bluetooth is receive only, it cannot transmit to Bluetooth speakers/headphones. It has a headphone socket however, and Bluetooth transmitter dongles are readily available if you really need a wireless connection to speakers or headphones. I’ve also seen people ask whether it is an Internet radio, no it’s not. You can, however use Bluetooth to play any audio available on a phone, tablet or similar device through the radio. Internet radio, Spotify, sound from video, whatever. If it’ll play on your phone, you can use Bluetooth to play it through the radio speakers.

I’ve had this radio for a couple of days now so I can’t comment on longevity but I’m mightily impressed, not only by the sound quality which is exceptional for a portable radio, but also the reception of DAB. I am on the South Coast and on scanning the radio it picked up 150 stations which is exceptional. Many of the stations were duplicated because not only was I receiving all my local stations from Brighton, but also the Hampshire, Surrey and London multiplexes even though I am well outside the coverage area of those multiplexes. Sound quality is excellent with bass and treble controls and great stereo imaging from the dual speakers and no vibrations from the wooden cabinet, which is infinitely preferable to a cheap plastic one. You can spend 4 times this amount on a DAB radio and you won’t get anything better than the Azatom. It does everything you could possibly want and then some, especially as you can also Bluetooth audio from your phone or TV to the unit and use it as a soundbar to increase the sound quality from your TV. Altogether a first class buy, I would give it 6 stars if I could, it really is that good.

    Excellent Value For Money

This is a very versatile Radio/Bluetooth speaker.
I’ve not used the alarm clock as I have this at my place of work.
The quality of sound is very good and with the base adjustment it give a lovely strong sound.
The Bluetooth works like a dream, I use this function every day and when I switch to Bluetooth it comes up on my phone instantly so I can stream my music.
The radio can store your favourite music station for ease of access, the DAB radio works well but does require a good signal for uninterrupted listening, FM radio is also available if needed.
I like the addition of a USB port on the back of the unit, I use this to charge my mobile phone.
This can be used as a mains or battery, very portable.

Extreamly well thought out buttons making it very easy to set up. It automatically sets the time & date and adjusts itself for Britich Summer Time. Good DAB signal strength, in a poor area, so finding a station of your choise is easy. Equilizer gives a great rich and clear sound. Alarm setting procedure the best I have ever used – very simple.
The white backlit digital screen has too much information on it. It shows the time twice ?Once with seconds also shown. Unescesisary and confusing.
It is also not very bright in daylight. Central volume control /input nob excellent . Probably not that portable as it is solid and heavy.(great for tone). Very atractive design, well made and excellent value for money.

Good communication from the seller. Not made in the UK which is a shame. Easy to set up once you know the select button is the enter button. Much better sound quality than my old radio with a wire aerial. Definitely one of my better purchases. Wish I had bought it sooner.

Bought it for my bedside, I am an avid BBC radio listener. The retro styling goes well in my bedroom. The sound quality is fine, plenty of volume if I need it. It’s fairly easy to use and navigate, though the buttons are a little fiddly for a sleepy person in half-light. The alarm function is spot on, with the only problem being the display is very bright with the lights off. I’ve solved that with layers of camera light gel. I haven’t used any of the other functions yet.

I am absolutely delighted with this DAB radio. I have had the same make blue-tooth speaker for about five years but found myself listening to the radio a lot on my phone whilst home working, so I decided to order this to save my data. It is well worth the money. I like that it has a chargeable battery so you can take it anywhere. I have also purchased a blue-tooth transmitter so that I can connect it to my blue-tooth earphones which is fabulous. The blue-tooth transmitter I bought separately needs power, but I can just plug it straight into the back of the radio as the radio can charge other devices. This will also be great for playing spotify music as I can power my phone at the same time. I found the setup quite straight forward. Definitely recommend.

Contrary to some reviews I like everything about this radio.
I am a senior citizen and found it easy to set up.
For me the tone is very good and I particularly like the fact that I can use it as a speaker from other devices. It was very easy to pair.
For the price I feel I have a lot for my money.

A good weight, great sound with equaliser and looks really nice. The Bluetooth pairs instantly, the DAB+ FM radio works brilliantly and it has 4 dimmer settings which is perfect for the bedroom, 2 alarms (for you and your partner), aux, mobile phone charger, and internal rechargeable battery. I love it to bits.

This radio is well built and the features are really good for a device at this price point. Overall I am really pleased with it. It is not the easiest device I have ever had to set up, for example the instruction book says that the first time you switch on it welcomes you and goes straight into a DAB autoscan. Mine switched on to FM white noise the first time I switched on, obviously someone had been there before me. The buttons are multi-functional and this is not easy to glean from the instructions, for example when listening to a DAB station pressing the Menu button cycles through the DAB info station name bandwidth date time etc. Yet the book says pressing the Menu button puts you into the Settings menu, what it should say is long pressing the button brings up this menu. It does not say anything about powering off the device which requires you to press the power button then press it again when you see Standby on the screen this powers off the machine and the LED screen goes blank. A further quirk to this is you can only power down when the power lead is not plugged in, even if the wall socket is off and it is running on battery you can only put the Radio into Standby with lead in, the LED screen shows date and time and will not power off completely. I understand why companies farm out assembly to places like China, the manufacturing costs are so much lower, but why they have to farm out the instruction books to someone whose first language is not English I will never know. Even the big global manufacturers fall into this trap, written instructions are next to useless. Instructions should be written as if the buyer has never seen the device or any other similar device made by others before. I wonder how many people return items simply because they cannot figure out how they work, this could make them look stupid in the eyes of the manufacturer, but it’s still a lost sale so who is the stupid one now.
