BackBaller Foam Roller (Ridged) – Muscle Roller for Deep Pain Relief. Ideal For Runner Cyclist Footballer Athlete
IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE GREEN AND PINK BACKBALLER?
The Pink is smooth and the Green has ridges, both offer the same benefits just the ridged one digs in a little bit deeper. When starting out take it easy and donât over do it until the tightness and tenderness eases.

I bought one second-hand. It’s ok. Not worth more than 25 or so IMO, but perhaps those with a medical condition will see it differently.
First things first, this is painful to use initally anyone who wants a product that provides a gentle massage, this is not the product for you.
It does provide a wonderful release in the muscles and after using the inital pain eases. I would definitely recommend as it does what it says on the ti
This is great for someone who works out but not ideal for me as I wasn’t strong enough to do a lot of the exercises. I mainly do yoga but I have recommended it to my clients as Im a masseur and feel it would benefit them.
I use this product several times a week.. a great soft tissue massage before and after exersises..defonately recomend this
Sceptical about this but after couple of episodes of extreme sciatica from lower back problems resulting in me not being able to walk for days at a time I was willing to try anything. Since daily use for 2 months it’s been amazing. I have more flexibility and less lower back pain.
A little tricky to keep the grooved area along the spine at first but after a few goes it is easy. For me it’s the equivalent to deep tissue massage for my lower back.
Not really sure if I’m doing it right, but by going to the expense of buying something, it’s actually encouraged me to use it and so therefore I am doing more stretching than I usually would after running, so it’s good for that, even if I don’t do all the steps in the routine. But my back pain is less and I feel a bit more agile, so yes it’s been worth it.
So pleased to have been watching Dragons den the night this was on.
Struggling with bad backs for years after 4 weeks of gentle use now feel as though I’m ready to use intensively. Just amazing the difference it has made. Able to work an 8 hr shift on my feet now with no bad back ache at the end of it!!
Can’t recommend highly enough.
You have to go through painful and sore pressing on the knots in muscles, but there’s no gain without pain of course.
I must admit that when I first took it out of the box, I wondered if I was getting value for money. I bought it having seen it on Dragons Den, and was further persuaded following a flare up of upper back pain. I don’t get it very often, but it’s miserable when it happens. I get more lower back pain in general, I had surgery on prolapsed discs some years back. This roller effective, and manages my condition well. I credit it with keeping me able to exercise and almost pain free. I use it two to three times a day for just a few minutes. When you compare the cost with paid visits to a physio (given that it’s effective) the price is worth every penny. I would only suggest that a video instruction on a Web site or You Tube would be very helpful. Using it is not that comfortable, but I have got used to it and find the less outer clothing written the less uncomfortable it is. I highly recommend it, but take medical advice if you’re unsure about adverse effects.
Light portable and easy to use.works a treat on my upper and lower back. Much easier to use than a conventional roller.
It appears to help with a lower back problem and help relax my calf muscles, but be warned it is uncomfortable to use , whilst doing the back exercise I found it very painful around my shoulder blades and later my wife pointed out I had bruises on my shoulders so now I do the exercise using one roller only.
Great product I have been using it for two weeks now .. I have suffered with back problems for a long time which are a consequence of my last occupation retired now I have physio once a month which I have been doing for years which helps but hasn’t really got to the root .. However as soon as I used the back baller I started to feel relief .. pops all over my back .. my back feels less stiff and a lot less pain yes as someone described it can be uncomfortable but then it’s going to be because of the nature of the injury
, I do wear something to help with that I have no problem getting on and off it nice and sturdy .. it doesn’t move I shall continue to use it every day and see how I go
I saw this on dragons den and the pain the inventor described he was in sounded exactly like mine so I decided to give this a try. I’d had multiple physio sessions and do plenty exercise and after 18 months of pain I’d given up on running. After 2 weeks of using this I am back running! I still use it everyday to keep the pain at bay. Great investme
I am a fairly active 64 year old, but I have suffered from pain and discomfort in my lower back, which is largely due to disc problems. To relieve the problems I have undertaken various exercises and stretches.
I saw the BackBaller on Dragons Den and could see the potential for my problems. I conducted some research and decided to take the plunge and buy one. I am so glad that I did.
Firstly the unit is really robust and well constructed, but more importantly having followed the two minute back rolling regime a couple of times a day for just over a week, I have already noticed a massive improvement in my flexibility and a reduction in my pain and discomfort. I bought this solely for my back problems and I haven’t used it for any other area, but I can see how it could help other muscle problems.
It is still early days yet, but this is looking like 64 well spent. A massive thank you to inventor Noel Marshall.
Easy instructions, lots of you tube videos too. Taking you from beginner to advanced. Take it slowly for best use
I’ve had back problems for a long time and use yoga to combat this. The back baller is not bad, but it is nothing compared to yoga. Nonetheless, it does do a lot of good for my back, but it doesn’t get rid of the pain for a longer time like yoga does.
I bought this to work on deep muscle pain in my hips and back. It’s just like getting a deep tissue massage from the salon and gives a lot of pain relief. It’s really good and the thickness and sturdiness of the backballer is of high quality. You get a pamphlet included with lots of different exercises to try.
Good product generally. Not sure it provides much more than a standard foam roller if you already have one though.
Bought for my son who is a tumbling gymnast who constantly has to roll out after training sessions, he absolutely loves the double roller and the thorough full body pain relief he achieve’s
Love this.. Much better than a normal foam roller. The way the dual rollers are mounted with smooth bearings makes for a much better user experience.
Really good for a targeted deep tissue rub down. Your in control of the amount of pressure and after a few goes you get into the swing of things and apply a good amount of weight on the back. Really sturdy and well built. Would recommend for sure
This thing is the business! I don’t know who invented it but by Christ it works and that’s the main thing! Fact. There is one in work and I tried it thinking this thing is a joke and then crash bang wallop in my back and instant relief!! I’m actually stunned so I bought one deadly
More efficient to use than old single roller. Very pleased with purchase.
Having suffered for years with middle back pain I stumbled across this device. I can honestly say that its the best method for relieving this pain I have ever come across. I have never got on with previous rolling devices simply because they just rolled away more often than not. The Backballer ensures that you benefit from continued massaging of the effected area, with you in control. Highly recommended
I’ve been meaning to get one of these for a while as I spend all day working on a computer, and lockdown seemed as good a time as any. The first time I tried to roll my lower back, I lasted 20 seconds. It was just so painful I had to stop. But once I’d stopped, it felt wonderful, like after a really good massage. I persevered and it was still painful, and I even got the bruises another customer described. But today, after 3 weeks gradual improvement, I managed to roll for the whole two minutes recommended, and it felt so good. It wasn’t entirely pain free, but it was that enjoyable sort of pain, again like a massage that really gets into tightness and knots in the muscle. I’d recommend anyone to get one, persevere using it and you’ll feel the benefit.
Great product – sturdy and good quality on the build
The guide is great and there are a variety of ways to use it
Also like the fact the rollers can be removed from the block to use on different muscles
ice and compact. various exercises yu can do. online videos if needed
I was recommended this product by a person I met who has a long history of back trouble. Both My son and wife also have suffered from back muscle problems for some time. I picked one up recently and both my wife and son have been trialling it for the past few weeks.
The product seems sturdy and the moving rollers move freely. They both found it a little uncomfortable to use at first as the ridges do push into the muscles but after a few attempts the discomfort eased as the muscles became less tight and they were able to use the backballer without any major discomfort at all. My wife reports that she is virtually free from back pain now, sleeps better and is better able to bend and lift, especially in the mornings when it was her most difficult time. Both have found good benefit from persisting in its use and plan to continue to use it to maintain improvement. Definitely a product worth every penny.
This is an excellet product. Much superior to the standard foam roller. Really helps relive muscle tension and aid recovey. Especially good for around the scapula which is difficult to hit with ordinary foam roller.
Would definitely recommend! Easy to follow instructions with picture prompts. Very sturdy and excellent for bad backs
Awesome; really feel the knots coming out! Loose as a goose after. Added exercises stamped to the side are super useful too. One thing it isn’t good for is rolling home made pastry through. Absolutely crap for that.
I’ve suffered with lower back pain for years. I’ve tried a number of foam rollers and this is the best by far. I wasn’t sure it’d be worth the money but the massive benefit from the design of the backballer is so much more control over what you’re doing that you can really target where you need it. The second roller also helps to take some body-weight when working lower back so less strain and pain on the days when everything’s more sore.
If you wants to foam roll this this the number one roller.
Sturdy and well made, only first day with it but once I sat down to use ended up rolling knots out for 40 minutes I had no idea my calves were so knotted and tight! This gives me alot of control on angles and pressure I want to apply with nice smooth bearings on the the rollers that support my 110kg with easy, the back roll is immense also feeling alot looser already I’ll keep trying it and keep you updated!
Excellent idea for a roller, I can roll some parts of my body better than I could with my normal roller.
For years I have used all kinds of massage tools from foam rollers to peanuts to various sized balls. All these things are great but this backballer really steps it up a notch. I have to admit I was sceptical about spending 55 when I couldn’t see how it could be much better than a regular foam roller but you can really concentrate on the area you need to without having to worry about core strength or ending up on the other side of the room with a regular roller. It has really well designed teeth on the roller as well that dig in just the right amount unlike some other rollers that can be too aggressive, although it is easier to apply different levels of pressure with the backballer as it is more stable. All in all if you are serious about your recovery and mobility I would say grab yourself one of these
I’ve had L4 and L5 back problems for over 8 years, nothing and nobody could relieve/fix the excruciating I’ve had for that time, felt like being stabbed by a knife. I’ve had 3 chiropractic’s, various massages, physiotherapy, slept on the floor, and changed mattress. Nothing worked.
The BackBaller is a life saver. I use it once a week for 2 minutes (focusing on the and my back is 90% better now. The remaining 10% is due to lack of exercise.
Got this tor my husband, he has 100s books on physio, stretching and balancing. He has been using this for about two months now and I haven’t seen him get a book out, he thinks it’s great, it gets right to the spot also my 13yr old son has used it after a football muscle injury and he likes it as well.
Had an interest in this product for a long while and without a doubt is very well designed , however I had to return (no fuss) as it didn’t suit my needs Only downside was the cost to retu
Bought for my son who spends his life at the gym he says it is great and really works out the knots in his muscles
Love this product. So much better than conventional foam roller. Especially for back or hard to roll areas like calf and shin.
Boutgh it as a Crhistmas present…. very fast delivery….damage packet. Hopefully hubby likes it!
Greatest piece of sports kit ever… lower back pain gone, weights have tripled and feeling superb once again… can’t recommend this item
Enough…
This is the best back stretcher I have ever used. Most stretchers just get the lower back muscles , this machine does upper back ,shoulder and lower back at the same time. It balances your body weight so you can control where you want relief by rolling up or down to target specific muscle groups. What a great product.
Bought this as a last resort. Been suffering from a locked pelvis for 6 months and constant pain with back muscles always in spasm. Used this 3 times and the pain has gone and my pelvis no longer hurts. Great value for money, very happy
Awesome. Try it!
Like having a physio on tap. I’ve been genuinely impressed, and would recommend it to anyone, particularly for upper and lower back probs.
Trigger point balls, foam rollers, tennis balls, heat pads, ice packs, sprays, stretches, even massage and dry needling with both a physiotherapist and myofascial specialist – I had tried them all!! But nothing would FULLY release my tight QL muscles (which I had developed from weight training strains over 3 years). The pain was radiating down into my glute medius and was making standing for long periods very uncomfortable. I kept wanting to curl up into a ball to relieve the tension but nothing would work.
Luckily my partner heard the BackBaller being discussed on Irish radio right when I was at my very worst. I sceptically decided to give it a go wondering how it could be any better than a standard foam roller.
I am pleased to report that within two weeks this has worked WONDERS for my QL tightness. This is due to a few factors:
1. The rollers are just hard enough to get in at the tension without being overly cruel. In other words the pliability is just right for me. I can also lean very slightly to one side so that I concentrate a LOT of pressure right where I need it.
2. Unlike standard foam rollers this doesn’t roll away from under you so you can go back and forth as much as you like on tight spots (in my case this is just below my last rib). You can kind of relax (if that is the word!) your torso and body weight fully onto it without fear of falling onto your back due to a runaway roller.
3. The central groove for your spinal column makes it feel a lot safer and kinder to that area than regular foam rollers. This groove also enables the roller to properly dig in where it is needed ie. at either side of the spine.
My only two criticisms are
– there didn’t seem to be much by way of proper instructions beyond the exercise card (which is handily duplicated on the sides of the unit itself). I am au fait with the concept of foam rolling so I just applied the same processes as usual, but anyone new to foam rolling could do with more guidance ie. what it does, how to do it and how often to roll.
– no explanation of which of the two sets of grooves (inner or outer) to put the rollers into. Not sure if you are supposed to adjust the roller gap due to your height or what? Anyway I just move them to wherever feels right, which I presume is the intention!
Finally, some grippy grooves under the central bar to enable more comfortable carrying around would be a nice addition on V2!
This is a brilliant invention for people like me who have suffered from herniated disc in the past…..and now suffer from lumber disc degeneration!! I find BackBaller quite helpful in alleviating some of the pain in the lower back and the sciatica, and improve mobility. Although I still suffer from occasional pains in the lower back and legs specially when sitting for long periods of time and or driving the pain is somewhat to a degree less and manageable. I intend to make this ingenious thing a good friend of mine for the rest of my life…..as I think I would need it! So thank you.
I had high hopes for this product, and it mainly delivered. It does take a fair amount of balance and core strength to get the most out of this unit. My wife says it’s just painful and not enjoyable to use. I disagree, and have come to depend upon the Back Baller. I’ve always had tightness between my shoulder blades, and this does a tremendous job of cracking my back, in a place I’ve only had relieved at the chiropractor. I take both hands and give myself a bear hug, pulling my upper back open, slowly roll from neck to tailbone and bam, 10-30 cracks which loosen me up in seconds. I’ve also used it on thighs and calves and that works well too. I’ll use this for years to come, and glad I found it. Price is about at the top end of what I’d expect to pay, though.
