So this isn’t expensive high end gear but it works ok as a monitor mixer. I woudn’t record through it and it does seem as bit noisy. I love the size of it and can live with the noise. It doesn’t feel very sturdy which is unusual for behringer equipment.
I can now make mixtapes again, like back in the 70s! Nice mixer, the effects are a bonus. Connecting a mic. via the XLR is great, but there is a little hiss if I use the mic. jacks instead. (Maybe the different mic. is to blame). Wish it had a power switch but overall its a great piece of kit. As everyone else has commented, why does it wobble when put on a flat surface? The USB connection is great, can use it to playback other PC audio through the headphones. Maybe I’ll buy a guitar next!
As other reviewers have said it wobbles on a flat surface. Some hiss evident with some microphones where gain needed to be high. Otherewise worked fine
Having used this for a while now, it feels like a really decent entry into using hardware mixers.
Very versatile, though the mic pre-amps leave a bit to be desired – they introduce a fair amount of background noise.
FX work extremely well – simple, clean and effective.
Monitor functions could have been a little more intuitive – it doesn’t make it very clear that leaving USB & FX turned off, allows you to monitor the main mix.
Power supply lacking a switch feels like a fairly big omission.
I’ve noticed everybody is moaning about the power supply
the fact the lead keeps falling out
There is nothing wrong with the power
the lead fits perfectly
don’t be afraid to push the lead further and you will find it will click and it will be in place
it doesn’t wobble or fall out
My only issue is there is no power button as many of you have mentioned so I’m going to adapt a power supply with a switch
If you are a electrician then it is possible to have a switch put in between the wire of the device
I do not recommend you do this yourself unless you know what you’re doing if not just leave it be
It has a lovely feel and shine and it’s a little heavier than I thought
It feels good quality and you have a band in your hand
Great product and value for money. Love the built in effects and the sound quality is awesome. I do understand what people are saying talking about with the loose power connection. It is fine when set-up tidy and not disturbed. I guess Behringer are thinking that if it gets pulled out, it’s better that it comes out easy rather than taking half of the interior with it, or the whole mixer. It is a light enough machine. I’m very happy anyway. Thanks
For the price you would struggle to beat it I just wish I had bought it’s bigger brother with more full featured inputs but overall it’s really great.
Great quality for a great price. Except: whatever this weird power connector is that looks like a large version of the old PS/2 connectors for keyboards and mice on old computers is AWFUL. Very difficult to get it to go fully in, is wobbly when not perfectly seated and easily falls out if moving the unit around. The pins on the power plug could very easily be bent if not inserted exactly right.
I don’t understand why a standard kettle plug or even just a DC power jack couldn’t have been used here?
Other than that the device is great! I use it to playback from a Yamaha electric piano/keyboard into headphones whilst being able to record to external device (iPhones require an adapter). And also having a device playing back audio to the headset without it going out on the recording channel.
Haven’t played around with the built in FX much, the little look I did take however seems to be a nice extra feature for those who don’t want to have the have a separate FX panel (though there is a dedicated FX channel for that also).
Manual is short and simple. For basics it is good though I feel it lacks some of the more advanced technical information.
Not too complicated to use and very compact. I’m sure with practice I will get much more from it. The mains socket is a little bit fragile and there is no power switch but for the price I’m not complaining…………
Great value for money. The only concern I had was when connecting the mains adapter to the unit,, it was loose and kept falling out. Having looked closely at the design of the plug and socket I decided it needed a good hard push and click in it went.
Not sure quite why the unit has no power switch but it’s not an issue for me. Very nice 3 band EQ and FX are good enough.
Does exactly what it says on the tin. Interfaces easily, pots and sockets solid and exact. Love it.
Needed an audio interface after my last one was tempory out of use due to Line 6 Licesnsing issues. Plug and play pretty much.
here is 2 issues that are know with the 2 way true usb and monitoring, but otherwise really like and good for the money produc
Device works well but rocks/wobbles like others have said. Inputs can be routed to FX with out using in built effects.
excellent mixer good quality large form factor gets quite warm after a while but still excelle
Perfect little device for getting some hardware, pedals, effects into my electronic music.
Good value works well, but should come with software to separate the tracks on the USB/midi upload side. I understand there may be a PC version available for download, but haven’t tried that yet.
Decent Mixer for the price. I use this with a home workstation/Karaoke and it works fine.
It works well, has audio effects and a led meter. Only downside is the lack of a power switch on the unit.
Wow!! that’s a great small mixer
and the effects embedded in the equipment work better than any software effects I have used till now.
works fine with my computer and with the active speakers I have
highly recommended
and it arrived quickly too, just 3 days from the order submission date
This is a top quality addition to my DJ set up and allows me to jump when I’m playing out from 1 laptop running my DJ software to another running my backup i-tunes etc giving me piece of mind that I can work seemlesly during a performance should the unthinkable happen! It also stopped my mic from making those awful noises when I run it through this!.. Brilliant!! all with the great bonus of added FX and being able to level all my kit from 1 place!! Only thing that i’m not keen on is the power cable port, Not the most stable thing I’ve ever seen and worries me incase it becomes dislodged during a gig, but in saying that it never has 🙂
What a great little piece of kit! No problem in connecting to my DAW (Logic), and it’s such a compact and lightweight (but not flimsy) item. The master fader feels a bit weak and vulnerable to knocks, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars
lots of inputs, good low noise sound, very compact. I do wish it had a power switch though otherwise very pleased.
his is a great lil mixer been using it for two years now in my home studios and everything still works amazing despite traveling and falls and bumps!!!
People are saying you can’t hear your voice while listening back the tracks already on your PC… Well i can so i don’t understand why everyone is saying you cant. You just need to press the ‘to main mix’ button and make sure the ‘to headphones/cntrl rm’ and ‘to headphones’ buttons are both unpressed. This means i can hear both my voice through the microphone AND music/audio from computer at the same time.
Now, in Cubase it’s a bit different. In order to hear the tracks you’ve recorded AND hear your voice WHILE recording – make sure the Monitor switch is turned on on the track your recording your voice to…. Then press the ‘to phones/cntrl rm’ button and unpress the ‘to main mix’ button and keep the ‘to headphones button unpressed. Hope this helps?
A fantastic bit of kit. Bought a smaller one of these (502) for a friend to run a dance from an iPad, and bought myself an electro acoustic guitar this Christmas. Needed a pre-amp to feed into a line input of a domestic amp and this fits the bill with five stars. Got all the EQ on the pre amp stages I need and an effects generator with 100 effects. Great for me, love it. Absolute bargain. Only downer is the lead feom the mains adaptor to the desk is a bit stiff, being verrrrry picky here though.
Nice unit – used it for a home concert, easy to use, even the pro soundman liked i
This is a great little mixer . Good compression and efx controls . Neat and compact to use on recordings or small gigs. I found it very good on vocals having compression is a bonus, 10/10.
This is a good value for money console, useful for live gigs due to its portable size and built-in effects. However, if you want to use it for studio recording there is one (large) disadvantage: while I bought it in order to send effects to the singer’s headphones, while recording a clean signal on my computer, the singer will only hear the effects but not the playback track. So it’s really not of any use in that scenario, and the product description was not clear about that issue. Luckily I have worked my way around this by using two consoles to achieve my goal, but still I found this a major disadvantage.
Excellent tiny little mixer. Shame there is no mains switch.
It is a small clever mixer. Easy to use and excellent quality for money. Very recommended for home users. No disk supplied therfore you need to look for the software which is not so easy. But I definitely recommend you to go for it!
I was looking for a way to add some reverb for use on live streaming sites on line. There doesn’t appear to be a software only way to do this so I was thinking a mixer with effects would be a decent option.
One of my criteria was that the mixer should be as small as possible. The trouble with mixers with built in effects is that often they are large whilst micro mixers tend to lose the effect section to allow for the smaller size. This was the smallest mixer I found that had effects built in. At around 30cm by 20cm by 4cm this mixer is tiny and fits nicely on my desk.
The effects section is very limited in that there isn’t any control over parameter. You basically get 100 effects and can control the amount that each input is sent through the effect section. This is fine for my purpose. I was really only interested in adding a little reverb to my voice/guitar and it does exactly this. In fact I would say lack of editability is a good thing. There’s no messing around and the mixer remains uncluttered. As is often the case with digital multi effects there are a load of effect you will probably never use but the important reverbs are there which is what matters to me.
One interesting feature I wasn’t really sure about is the one knob compressor on the two mic inputs. This is a really great feature it definitely improves the sound of my vocals to my ears.
I am unable to say how the effects and compressor compare to expensive studio gear but to my ears they sound excellent and perfectly adequate for live use.
The USB connection is great too. This little mixer can be used as an audio interface. ASIO drivers are available on Behringer’s website. This makes it a very versatile product.
I currently use one of the microphone inputs with a condenser microphone (Phantom power is available for the 2 mic inputs). I also take the line out from my PC, feed it through the mixers line in and then it goes back to the PC via the mixers main output through the USB connection. This means I can play MP3s or youtube videos and main great quality whilst live streaming. Excellent.
If you need additional mic inputs then the sister product (QX1202USB) is exactly the same but has two extra mic/line channels. Behringer have smaller mixers available in this range but they don’t have effects.
All in all I am excited and pleased with this little mixer. Less is definitely more. Its extremely portable and a great product for live streaming on sites like MondoClub.com or Ustream.tv or for playing at small live venues or as a budget audio interface for home recording. And the price is pretty astonishing for what you get. My only minor complaint would be the lack of a power switch. I have only been using it for a few days so as long as I don’t get any hardware problems I am very happy with this product. Recommended.
(Btw…Delivery was astonishingly fast too. Opted for free 5 business day delivery. Ordered late friday night. Arrived Monday morning.)
