Great sounding headphones, but after an hour the supplied head band cushion became very uncomfortable. So I modified them, changing them to a hammock style headband. They are now very comfortable and can be worn the whole day.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Sound, uncomfortable headband

    Solidly made.
    Look sleek.
    Quality cabling too!
    Perfect for any home studio.
Perfect for mixing/recording the response is quite unbiased (using reference tracks).
We got these to record vocals and at loud volumes with these tight against your head, the sound bleed is almost nothing.
Not that I have much use for it but there is a tidy little bag to put them in, nothing too special though.

Headphones feel like you not even wearing them, by far the most comfortable pair ive ever owned. Really clear sound aswell and have been great for monitoring and listening to the ocasional music. noise cancelation isn’t the greatest compared to other closed back headphones as they dont seem to close as firmly to the head as others but otherwise great.

Got the 250 ohm version recently after using sennheisers for over 10 years and they… are… superb. Amazing bass definition (best I’ve ever heard on headphones) and really clear and bright top end. I have been told they can under-represent the mids but I have not personally noticed this yet.

All in all really, really good studio headphones and just unmissable for the price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have a lot of headphones but I mainly use HD660s for listening to music at home. Although they are very detailed open sounding headphones I wanted some closed backs that didn’t sound or feel clostraphobic and lifeless.

I prefer to used a open back for more detailed folk or chilled indie and American but I prefer a closed back for metal, rock etc especially 80’s metal.

These headphones were comfortable out of the box on my massive melon head. No issues with excessive clamping force and they also had plenty of room for my big flappy ears. I have tried them mainly with my portable CD players but also my higher end hifi with built in headphone amp and DAC.

Every genre sounds full of body and life but doesn’t leave the fine details behind and also seems to feel much more spacious than any other closed back I own. They were supposed to be a secondary set of headphones but I’ve been using them for about 8 hours a day for 2-3 days and they just get better and better.

For the price 109 they are incredible for me, an avid music listener. Everything from Jazz to house music, folk to metal sound great. Just buy them.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI don’t really have anything to compare these to. I prefer speakers, but since moving in with my girlfriend, I needed something to drown out the noise.

I bought these because I wanted good sound quality for a reasonable price, and I think those boxes have been ticked, they sound great.

I would point out that these 80 ohms work well plugged into my Macbook from 2017 and my iPhone from 2013, I was considering the 32 ohms version, but read they should work, and that the lower ohms weren’t as flat and more consumer. Full volume is plenty, though when plugged into my Marantz amplifier, the sound was bigger and more clear, and more powerful.

Build quality is not great, with plastic, and fixed wires, but I am happy with the price considering this, the cushions are comfortable, and the fit is snug.

I would give them 4.5 out of 5 for the price. 5/5 would be reserved for something that went beyond expectations, but I have given them 5/5 because 4.5 wasn’t an option.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFor mixing and sound production, they are quite ‘flat’ in that they do not seem to add additional frequencies to one’s mix which is perfect, although for ‘listening pleasure’ they lack ‘Bass’ off the shelf – one can compensate with a mini amp (consider we’re dealing with 80ohms in my case) or through various other means, but this is just a minor consideration. They are also very comfortable and not very weighty so I feel I could keep them on for very long periods of time.

    Many thanks 🙂

Headphones are incredibly comfortable and have a great sound. They include an adapter for both 6.3 and 3.5mm jacks so very versatile.

Unfortunately I found the super long and heavy cable, a deal breaker. I’m constantly having to gather in the cable and stop it flapping about everywhere, or knocking things over. I appreciate that some will want a long cable, Nd the robustness of it will be valuable in certain environments. It just wasn’t for me, so have returned the headphones before the cable drove me completely crazy.

If you can cope with or indeed value a long and sturdy cable, then these are a great choice. If not then you might want to look elsewhere.

I bought these after wearing my m40x to death. I had the m40x for 6 years before they finally gave out.

After receiving these yesterday I was really impressed by their comfort and quality, they definitely feel like an upgrade. However, they appear to have developed a fault where the wire meets the headphones already.

I’m hoping that this is just a faulty set and not a fault of the design.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI’ve been searching for these for years – just a great sound and really comfortable to wear. I’ve tried many over the years – including several pairs of iems. I’ve always searched for a sound that packs a heavy bass punch without over-powering everything else, so the clarity is still there. For hifi buffs, the “Harman curve” shows these to be almost perfectly flat, with a slight high end boost. This means that, if the music you’re listening to has sub-bass, you will hear sub-bass.
Don’t be put off by the label “studio headphones” – unlike some monitor headphones that sound really flat and lifeless, the DT700s are perfect for music listening as well as studio use.
The only caveat for the 80 ohms that I bought is, you need a decent music player to get plenty of volume from. I have a FIIO M!! digital audio player which has plenty of power, but if you’re going to listen using a phone then you’re better off either using a headphone amp or buying the lower sensitivity (and lower detail) 30 ohm variation.
There’s a reason these have been in production for years and why they have so many reviews – because you can’t go wrong with these – especially for the price.

I really like that the cable is so long and is curly which makes it look short, its sounds alright, the noise cancelling is working perfectly okay, Good price, I don’t like the fact that the sound isn’t very loud compared to different brand i use, and its not much bass, definitely not for gaming

Excellent balanced sound quality. I use for long periods of video editing and sound Scape recording.
My ears and head too wide for a comfortable fit over extended wearing. They became painful and therefore distracting limiting the wearing time. This didn’t ease over time so sadly I had to return them.

I use these to monitor audio with an MPC and they sound superb, though you will need a headphone amp as the they aren’t very loud.

All frequencies sound balanced with no muddyness or tinny sound.

Build quality is why it gets 4 stars. The headband is good and adjusts nicely and the fabric around the ears is very comfy and makes a nice change from the faux leather which peels. They don’t appear to make your ears too hot and sweaty. The bit I don’t like is that the outter ear pieces feel like a plastic shell that could crack easily, if they were made to feel more hardy I’d have given them 5 stars.

Weight is light and and it has a good, heavy, chunky cable. Very pleased overall

Firstly context, I have 71-year-old’s ears and I’m not an audio file. I have Several headphones Bluetooth and wired (Sony Sennheiser and apple). The DT 770s pro are comfortable over the ears and on the head. Listening experience for me is more than satisfactory. The mids and highs were clear and the base was fairly good but perhaps not good enough if you’re into music that requires more on the lower end. I would also say that there was a good separation of sound across the range. I was able to pick out individual instruments if I wish to do so whilst listening to the music. I chose the 32 ohm version as I use it with mostly on mobile devices. Perhaps the only criticism would be the over ear parts feel a little sort of plasticky and cheap, however the headband is made of metal I like a strong enough to last. I have given it a score of five to reflect its value for money. Unable to comment on gaming use noise cancellation is not applicable to this type of headset. I have used it with a microphone in blogging mode and the loopback voice is very clear.

Good build quality from beyerdynamic and very comfortable for long periods of listening,be aware that these headphones are very flat and will need an amplifier as they are the 250 ohm model ,I will also recommend the dt990 as I have these but they are only for home use as they are open back but did give a wider sound stage than the DT 770.the 770 are a far better headphone than the Sony mdr-1a which I have had for about 3 years but the Sony does have a detachable cable but there companies that will do this for DT 770 ,my next purchase will be the DT 880

Excellent build quality, although some of the outer shell is made of plastic (obviously metal would be a dumb build material due to its weight) the quality of the materials used is excellent. and the sound is quite frankly excellent. Beware if you wish to buy the 250 Ohm versions of these headphones you WILL need a amp if you wish to drive them at any kind of loud volume and to get the best sound quality possible.
The two amps I have used for this are the Behringer HA400 (I recommend this if you need a non portable amp) and my Denon AVR 1602 (Very overkill but works great when I can’t use the speakers that are already hooked up to it)
The DT770 Pros sound great but im also saving up to buy the DT990 Pros for their more open soundstage.

I use these for UK underground bassline music production (‘DJ Narrows’ on bandcamp, insta and other services). I go straight out my mixing desk on the headphone main bus. My volume control is at about 40-45% (250ohm version) and I believe I monitor relatively quiet.
I was pleasantly suprised at the sound quality and frequency response. Bass is full enough and deep enough, mids are decent, if I had to be really hyper critical, the upper mids could be a tiny, tiny bit more foward- very small dip on the upper mid but as long as you account for that in translation (check ya studio monitors or something flat to hear) anyone will be good for mixing and mastering. His are nice not over powering or sharp but actually has quite a nice fizz/spice in the high his.
Because the sound is so good around, I wish that Beyerdynamic 770s went one bit further and gave some more stereo image but maybe the 880s/990s have that cause of their semi/open design.
They are defo comfortable to wear and listen to. In fact, I really dont really recall having fatigue after a few hours sessions with short breaks here and there. I would describe the ear cups are very comfy.
As you can tell from the review I was suprised these were so good the price 130 (I paid 108 at the time). I’ve used Sennheiser all my life, Sony once or twice, but mainly Sennys, at the inexpensive price I thought I’d just give them a go and clearly Beyerdynamic have made a great sounding headphone.
The overall design is chunky, solid, and padded, ya not gonna see these on road but they are a tool and not for fashion.
I have the 250ohm version, if you are gonna use them with anything else other than a audio interface or headphone amp get the 80 or 32. The 250s were loud enough for me on other devices like mobile and music players but might not be for everybody.
I also picked up a mod from CustomCans site to extend and flatten the frequency response but I havent installed yet, just enjoying as they are for a few months before experimenting or modding.

I have the 250 ohm version which I power via a Rega IO amplifier which drives the headphones without issue.

Initially I was going to get the 1770 but thought I’d try these first as I’ve never had anything from Beyerdynamic. I care most about the sound quality and for the price it’s hard to complain about anything. I think it would be hard to beat them on sound quality without spending quite a bit more – perhaps going to the 1770. I compare these favourably with my AKG k712 Pro, although the soundstage is not as wide which you would expect from a closed back.

My only gripe is the non-removable cable which I knew of before purchasing.

Hard to see how you can beat these given the price. Good closed back headphones are few and far between, let alone at this price point.

I think the cable is way too long; this is done so that you can play it out of studio equipment and such but if you’re looking for a pair of headphones on the move then this isn’t ideal, and the 32 ohm version with the smaller cable supposedly just sounds a bit worse. The fact the cable isn’t detachable is a shame as it could completely rectify that. Luckily you can just do that through modding (I sent mine to Custom Cans personally!).

However these are great in sound quality! Extra bass and treble, but honestly I listen to a lot of rock and indie so that’s great compared to my balanced sets (HD6XX and HD560s). They’re also really comfortable although take a bit of time getting used to.

The earcups provide alright noise isolation, not as good as XM3s or anything but still good; these are intended as more of an indoor set so that’s not an issue.

I really like these for games though; makes them sound great! The wire really gets in the way for me on console though, have to put a bit around the back of my neck so it doesn’t get trampled. I really do recommend the detachable mods on this, it lets you put a custom microphone on as well that’s way more wieldy. Just a class idea all round.

You can’t really go wrong though; they sound great, have decent isolation and are good for games. If you’re weighing more in on music listening through an amp then this version or the 250 ohm one is great as the cable would actually service you there. Otherwise the 32 ohm version is better if you need more portability, although I’ve heard the sound quality is slightly worse. I really do recommend detachable cable mods for the best of both worlds, though.

Disclaimer: This review is meant for consumers only, not for producers.

IN A NUTHSELL: If you are looking for an all-rounder pair of headphones that will offer a satisfying sound in a wide variety of music genres, then the DT 770 PROs are indeed a very solid choice. In fact I think that anything more expensive enters the realm of diminishing returns for the average “enthusiast” consumer (again, not producer).

There are some people who might disagree and I get that. My argument is that if you disagree you are already past the point of average consumer, you likely had the opportunity to test multiple high-quality pairs of headphones, and have developed a taste for the sound signature that suits your preferences best, which will obviously bias you towards either liking, disliking, or being indifferent towards the DT 770 PROs.

So if you are reading this review and the idea of “having a preffered sound signature” does not mean much to you, then you will most likely enjoy these headphones and will be satisfied with them provided you buy the right version (e.g. the 32 Ohm version if you’re only going to use a phone or laptop to power these).

So I have tested these predominantly with metal sub-genres such as death metal, black metal, technical death metal, progressive death metal, blackened death metal, etc. Why these sub-genres in particular? This opinion might come across as being a little controversial and dismissive, but I personally feel like most other genres of music are so overproduced nowadays that any pair of decent studio headphones will offer a satisfying listening experience to most consumers. And for the average consumer these are beyond decent. Particularly if you like genres where the bass is emphasized you will love these.

The most common complaint you’ll hear about these is that the mids are weak and drowned by the bass and the highs. This is true to some extent. It’s not that the mids are completely lacking, rather everything else is so emphasized that the mids can be hard to make out. What this means is that, in particular with Carvernous Death Metal or underproduced Black Metal, you might find that the guitars are not as “shireky”. The higher pitched guitar notes will be easy to make out in general, but the lower repetitive guitar notes can sound a little drowned out and lacking in detail. If you like atmospheric repetitive riffs (think Darkspace, Burzum) you might find the sound with these a little lacking with an overly emphasized bassy atmosphere. Also if you enjoy Cavernous Death Metal or ODSM in general you might find that the signature “chainsaw guitars” are not as “ear piercing” as you might expect, and that the atmosphere in cavernous death metal can feel a little softer given the bassier nature of the sound signature.

And in general with these headphones you might find that with underproduced metal you don’t get that satisfying “ear piercing” effect as much as you’d like, you know, the sort of stuff that makes you want to play Burzum on a casette player in your garage. It just all ends up sounding a little “softer” than you’d expect. Now the good part is that the mids are not terrible enough that you lose detail, but if you are coming off of headphones with less bass and overemphasized mids like I am, it might take a while to get used to this softness and it might sometimes feel like you need to pay more attention to some of the “muffled” riffs.

A good example is Craven Idol’s “Even the Demons…”. On my old Marhsall Major 3 the track sounds a lot more “raw” and “in your face”, while on the 770s the track sounds more “atmospheric” than expected. This lack of “rawness” in favor of a more “atmospheric” sound might give one the the impression that some of the more intense guitar riffs are lacking detail. That’s not actually true, and now that I’m getting used to the new sound signature I can tell that all the detail is there. It’s just not as emphasized as it was on my old headphones which had a very different sound signature. And in fact there’s extra detail I’m picking out now in areas of lower frequency.

But again, this comes down to my initial statement about taste in sound signatures. Some people might be initially repulsed by Marshall Major 3’s sound siganture, the bass is lacking and they almost have that hollow “telephone-like” sound, like there’s no “depth” to the music. The mids are overmphasized. It took me a pretty long time to get used to that type of sound, but once you get used to that sound, underproduced Death and Black Metal simply RIPS AND SHREDS. There’s a “rawness” to the unproduced metal sound that is almost lost with the 770s, even though the actual sound detail is still there. The highs are still good, and there’s new detail in the lower frequency with the bass and some of the percussion, but those mids are a lot more subtle, resulting in a sound that I’d describe more as “atmospheric” rather than “raw”.

Is this a good or a bad thing? That’s up to every listener to decide. I myself prefer my underproduced metal to sound more “raw” than “atmospheric”, but there’s definitely the component of getting used to the new sound as well.

That’s honestly my biggest complaint with 770s at the moment. Some of it can be adressed with a little EQ tweaking. A very slight reduction in the lower and higher frequencies, with a slight elevation of the mids results in a little more balanced, less “overly bassy atmospheric” sound. But I emphasize the word “slight” here. Because at the end of the day I think its best to embrace the signature sound of whatever pair of headphones you choose to drive.

    Some additional notes:

The noise cancellation is surprisingly good.
It doesn’t have detachable cable which sucks.
Gaming sounds alright? I’ve only tried Doom Eternal so far, can’t say anything stood out in particular.

After much YouTubing I bought these off a recommendation from BadSeed Tech. This is my first venture into studio grade headphones and these do not disappoint! I went for the 80ohm version and I’m driving these off a Mayflower Arc Mk2. If you don’t plan on using an Amp/Dac then stick to anything with 40ohms or less.

First of all the price of this unit is surprising, I was expecting to pay much more for audiophile grade headphones. The velour cushions are comfortable but I could feel the clamping force after a few hours of use. It seems to get better over time so it does break in.

As a gamer the closed back feature of these is ideal to prevent noise leak, the bass that comes this closed back set (in combination with the Mayflower Arc Mk2 with the DSP on) is tremendous! These really do pull above their weight. I find the bass doesn’t interfere with my gaming and somehow contributed to it instead.

I do find that I have to drive these headphones at about the 12’o clock mark on my Mayflower or higher depending on the content I’m digesting. But that’s more or less normal. After about the 2’o clock mark the DSP needs to be turned off as it starts to struggle!

Overall I would highly recommend these closed back headphones to anyone with an amp. If you don’t have an amp it’s no big deal, just get the lesser Ohm version and I’m sure you will still be happy.

    The DT770 Pro 80ohm.

I mostly use these via a Focusrite audio interface.

The detail in the sound from this is amazing, it really brings out elements I’ve not heard before in recordings. The sound overall is silky, well defined and with great bass.

The headphone cups are large with velour covers which makes them very comfortable and means that my relatively large ears don’t have any contact with with the cups.

The only criticism I have is the non-removable cord.

This has to be the best headset for gaming. Miles ahead of dedicated “gaming headsets”, might be a bit pricey as you most likely need a DAC and a mic. But it will probably last much longer than gaming headsets (mine usually last 1-2 years), so worth it in the long run. I have it with fiio DAC and Samson meteor mic

I love these headphones so much, the audio quality is incredible, they feel great on my ears, not too tight, not too loose and they’re pretty well built over all……except mine keep dying. I’ve owned an 80ohm and two 250ohm sets, attached image of my box collection lol

I don’t use anything crazy, I have a Scarlett Solo audio interface and a Magni Heresy headphone amp both of which keep their volumes at 50%, dead center, never gets touched. Apart from my latest pair which I had lowered the volumes to 40% but they still died. They weren’t loud, in fact they were quiet, yet for some reason the right driver just keeps dying.

I keep buying new pairs because I’d rather buy a new pair than jump through a billion hoops for warranty which I don’t even know if they’re covered.

Regardless these are amazing headphones, my latest pair recently died but instead of buying a new pair I just bought a new replacement driver and installed it, was super easy, will do that from now on.
Thank you Beyerdynamic for making these headphones so user serviceable!

Please don’t let my experiences dissuade you from buying these headphones, they’re definitely worth it, perhaps either my amp or interface is faulty, who knows, but I love these headphones, I won’t buy anything else, I just wish they didn’t die on me so often.

    Amazing, my favourite headphones!...BUT!

If you are looking for some professional headphones for work or long-term use you have probably read loads of reviews. There DT770’s come out well/top again and again. I am no headphone expert but have a couple of pairs of Sennheiser headphones and the latest noise cancelling BOSE units, all of which are great. However, for long term use (long hours of audio editing) these DT770s are my new favourites. They are fabulously comfortable, with no ear pressure at all and don’t feel hot on the head. Even though they are not dynamic noise cancelling units that cut out background noise really well. Initially I thought that the default (Windows 10) levels might be a bit low on these 80 Ohm units, but the sound quality and acuity is so high that in practice it is perfect. Really, I could not recommend these highly enough – a well designed and beautifully engineered product.

These are bar none the best headphones you can buy for this sort of money and a lot more IMO. I have two pairs of them one with the 250ohm coiled lead and the other with a 80ohms and straight lead for use in different settings – the latter I’ve owned for about 7 years. I have also got a pair of the DT1990 pro models which are significantly more expensive, and I would argue not as good certainly not value for money wise, and I would also say they are not better sound quality either for listening or using as a reference monitor, but it is useful to have more than one sound signature when testing your mixes. I also owned for a short time a pair of Focal Clear headphones which are widely touted to be about as good as it gets from an audiophile perspective without spending an inordinate amount of money, and again I would say that the DT770 are a better unit both in terms of robust design and quality, I also much prefer the sound signature. So I sent back the Clear cans within a week. But I guess as with everything, it is subjective. I would highly recommend these cans though, excellent value for money.

These are the best sounding headphones for the price if you have been only using a gaming headset this is a huge step up the bass is so clear the highs are extremely crisp but the only thing I would complain about is that the mids sometimes gets washed away from the loud highs and lows.

I got the 80 ohm model and it blows me away. You can use with anything, but a phone will just not get as loud. The best headphone I have were bose QC35II and DT770pro sound way better. Extremely more detailed in comparison. Base and treble is noticeable better or just there – effortlessly. The mids are not so muddy but also a bit more relax to give the rest of the frequency spectrum some room to shine.
Comfort as amazing: The velour ear cushions are great. The head band is super comfy and the clamping force is just right. Weight is fine, but they are not feather light. And they are not the most flexible ones.
Build quality and construction is outstanding. The cable is thick, but still quite flexible. Unfortunately it is not detachable. So they are not really meant for walking around, but indoor use, which is fine.
I give 2 stars for Noise cancellation, because the noise isolation is quite good, also actual they have no active noise cancellation. And finally of course they are fantastic for gaming, given that they are sooo detailed.

Fantastic headset. Not actively noise cancelling but once you’ve got something playing through them the outside world dissappears. My wife makes me jump constantly walking up behind me…..

The sound quality is the best I’ve ever had from headphones. Going back and playing games again is a treat for the ears, hearing bass and tones that my old headphones quite literally could not produce. Fps games are also greatly enhanced with directional clarity.

Just bear in mind that with these 250ohms you will need a sound card of some sort to get the most out of them.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese are very comfortable, even for larger heads. They isolate and block out a lot of background noise, which can be good but does leave you vulnerable to not hearing phone or doorbell.
By the way the 250 ohm version works perfectly well with iPods/iPhones/Android, so take with a pinch of salt the reviews that suggest that the volume will be too low or that such devices cannot drive 250 ohm. At all normal listening volumes, the headphones can be driven fine from low-voltage devices such as mobile phones. With the 250 ohm version you also get the benefit that the cable is coiled, and the soft part of the headphones is a nicer grey colour (if that’s what you prefer of course).

Unprecedented comfort and a audio treat for the ears you are just missing out on if you get the lower impedance (ohms) models.

May sound like a clich – but having these is a little like replacing your ears.
The low end is rich, rounded but without any extra “flab” usually associated with deep bass on headphone. The upper bass and lower miss arrive nicely, details as crisp as a frost coated winter morning…

The high end is again, very present – some may say a touch too bright. This tapers off somewhat in time (hence me waiting around 6 months prior to writing a review – to ensure any changes through time were noted).

    As for build quality….

Again, good, honest and refreshingly uncomplicated engineering.

Nothing clever or fancy (you want foldable look elsewhere).

Every part as far as I know, is replaceable but at this price ranger, throwing them around isn’t an Ideal method of use – so a case is a reasonable after sales option.

Overall – a good, reliable set of headphones that is in a good price range and you feel like you actually get what you pay for.

The box design, softcase and screw on jack adaptor were all nice additions to the buying experience.

    Worth it.

Headphones for monitoring very good and clear.i bought 250 ohms version and you do need a good amp section to drive it, just about get away with using Focusrite solo but much better on Rodecaster Pro. Tried just for fun on a hifi system and was quite surprised how good they were, especially at this price. Would like to have seen a replaceable cable as if it fails you would need to undertake a repair or new headphones. That’s the only minor issue I have but all in all I only wish I had bought these instead of other headphones not really suited to music editing and wasted money.

These are wonderful headphones at their price, with excellent sound reproduction for anyone wanting to know exactly what the artist recorded.

I’ve had both the 80ohm and the 250ohm models, the former being a wonderful introduction to HiFi and the latter having a fuller rounder sound if you have a decent amplifier to drive them and deliver that ‘sub-bass’.

One other aspect to these headphones is the Beyerdynamic design which while not particularly pretty, is made so that the average user can repair any small problems quite easily, and the guys with a soldering iron can completely overhaul a set: all the parts being available for individual repairs.

You can also replace the cups quite easily, and if you’re interested in noise isolation, adding a set of leather cups will effectively block all outside sound, no ‘noise cancellation’ necessary — though this will make the soundstage even more closed, and give an even more aggressive bass than you might be prepared for.

Ooooh my god, this is the best decision I have made. Pair these headphones with a good DAC/AMP and you are on a journey of glorious sound. If you are new to high quality audio, you will want to listen to clarity and high frequencies to point out the differences.

At first, I really didn’t want high frequencies because I was oblivious to what was actually better, I was the type of guy that is always BASS, BASS AND MORE BASS, but looking back, it was just horrible sound quality and wanted more bass to make up for poor quality audio. Buy these and pair it with a good DAC/AMP, you won’t regret it. I bought them and I don’t regret them.

    Pros:
    Very crisp audio
    Tight bass
    Passive Noise Cancellation is fantastic!
    Built very well

    Cons:
The ear pads will get dirty overtime, especially with sweat
The cable is REALLY long (but also a good thing)
Painted letters on the ear cups can be rubbed off over time

In conclusion, it is worth the money and you should buy it.

Large soft ear pads spread the load well. Keeps out external noise. Reduced bleed when used as recording monitors. I use these in the studio for hours on end and they don’t give you compression headaches etc.
These are a real top quality studio monitoring headphone with flat frequency response. You will hear the real music. However, for those that want headphones loud enough to deafen you with exaggerated bass response then feel free to buy some other cheap rubbish! Those that want to hear the true music at a moderate level then buy these.

However can you drown out the sound of your annoying family? unfortunately no. However props to the creators for making the ear piece very comfortable and adjustable. Still it would’ve been good to drown out the annoying voice of my sister who is very hormonal and never shuts up. nevertheless…. good product a 4/5 for me.

The clarity and detail of music, the relatively wide sound stage, the heavy built of the headphones – this is an amazing pair of headphones. Totally recommend this for anyone who want to use this as a casual pair of headphones for just using it for day to day tasks.

Two details to note though, firstly, the clamp of the headphones might be a bit heavy on the sides of your head, so it takes some getting used to and secondly, despite it being 250 ohms and a lot of online sites will recommend you to get a USB DAC and AMP to pair it/give it extra oomph, I personally found that my laptop can output the necessary volume to skip that, so if you’re interested, maybe get this first, test it on your system before deciding to go for that USB DAC and AMP that everyone recommends.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersFirst, let me get the packaging/presentation out of the way — it wasn’t great. There’s no foam protection, or anything fancy other than a business-like drawstring bag. They were also shipped from Germany in a plastic Amazon bag with no bubble wrap, not even an Amazon cardboard box with the paper padding; this resulted in the product’s box taking a little beating in transit. However, they arrived perfectly fine and usable.

Now onto the good news… These are good, really good. I used the Sennheiser HD 558 for 5 years and the Sennheiser HD 598SR for 3 years. These are a seamless transition into closed-back headphones from these great open-back headphones. I’m not even 30 minutes into wearing them and I can tell these are a headphone for many years to come, the lows are better than I’ve grown accustom to, with ample sub-bass which is non-existant on the Sennheisers, and the highs are clear without being sibilant or harsh; I’m super happy.
Especially so, as I tried the new PlayStation Pulse 3D headset prior to these arriving and was disappointed in their small size, discomfort and fake virtual 3D sound.
These headphones genuinely seem to let me hear more than I could already with the Sennheiser’s, I don’t know if that’s placebo effect or due to the extra isolation, but it’s fantastic.

    Update 1:
I paired these Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 32 Ohm with the Brainwavz XL Large Perforated Replacement Memory Foam Earpads and wow, it really opens up the soundstage!
It does lower the bass just a tiny, barely noticeable amount, but you do also get a little more breathability and the lower end gets clearer (though I don’t know if that’s due to the driver being broken in — I used a random playlist of high quality music of the genres I enjoy, with a few pink noise tracks mixed in).

    Note:
If you need a microphone apparently the Beyerdynamic MMX300 MkII is the headset to go for as they’re the DT 770 Pro enhanced, albeit at the cost of having to plug into the controller on consoles which I found to distort the sound.

    Update 2:
I’ve since wound some wool around the headband for a little added comfort and to preserve the protein leather. Be warned that faux leather wears down quickly (I could see mine starting to flake after a few days use which is ridiculously bad).

I’m sold into the Beyerdynamic family now and would love to try the others. They’re well thought out and the spring steel headband ensures confidence in being able to stretch it out for comfort (due to the tight clamp at first) without any plastic creaking or snapping; as is the case with other headbands.

Damn good, must buy if you're a previous Sennheiser 598 or below user!

Excellent clarity and very deep bass. I was very surprised when I first put this headphones on it felt like I was under water, sort of isolated from this world. These are not noise cancelling headphones but they definitely feel like one. Sound is really detailed and sound stage is surprisingly wide for close back headphones. Mids are little laid back but I personally prefer v shaped sound. Bass shocked me little bit when I first heard it and it hits hard. It felt really weird at first because the feeling of isolation and the deep bass made me feel sick at first but that might be only me and I think the reason for that might be because for long time I had my Sennheiser open back headphones and they feel like you have nothing on your head you can hear everything around you. My conclusion to this review is I really love these headphones and I am happy with my purchase and give them a chance if you looking for something different.

Now let me preface this review by mentioning I am not too knowledgable about the specifics of sound. This review is from the perspective of someone who spends a lot of time using headphones however may not know the industry buzzwords.

Simply put, these headphones are fantastic. They have been my daily drivers for the past year, meaning 12+ hours of usage daily. The level of comfort is the first thing I feel I should touch on. I have a large head however they fit without trouble, and are exceptionally comfortable. Unlike many headphones I have had in the past, I never feel a need to take them off to “rest” my head – they almost feel like a part of my body at this point.

The sound is incredible, granted some equaliser fiddling (can be easily found online) will make the experience so much better. I use these headphones for everything from music, anime, movies, and games. They just deliver everything very richly and clearly. The bass seems especially solid, so if you’re a bit of a bass head like me, these headphones will serve you well.

The closed-back nature of the headphones also mean they do a good job at keeping the stuff you’re listening to in, and outside noises out. They are not noise cancelling of course, but they certainly work great at drowning out any noises that may be around you.

All in all, a wonderful set of headphones. I don’t foresee them breaking any time soon due to their exceptional build quality, but if they were to eventually die on me, I would likely pick up another pair as a replacement.

If you have a suitable amp or av receiver, get yourself the 250 ohm version, as there is more detail to be heard over the 80 ohm.

Audio is clean and natural, but with a healthy dose of bass and treble. Soundstage is big and open considering they are closed back headphones. I was pleasantly surprised that they work very well with lower quality music sources, but ideally, you want to feed them higher quality music, and you will be blown away by blu-ray audio.

These headphones have some of the BEST sub-bass in a headphone you can get. It’s what brings me back to these headphones, because their a few headphones available that can reach subwoofer-levels of bass, but the DT770 manage this and it makes all other headphones sound boring.

I find I can listen to music on these headphones and it’s very pleasant to listen to at lower volumes, without feeling the need to blast the music. At no point do I feel like anything in the audio mix or frequencies are missing, unlike the 80 ohm versions where it would occasionally sound vague.

The only issue I have is the annoying coiled cable, which weighs too heavy for my liking. Some people love this. However, there are cable mods available.

These headphones come highly recommended by most users and you have to use them and then look at the price ratio to understand the popularity of these headphones.
They do take a little getting used to and wearing in before the force of the clamp settles and then they become comfortable.
Not the most comfortable headphones but probably the best within the price range.
The sound isolation is a real plus for me and one of the strengths of these headphones in my opinion again not the best but probably the best within the price range.
The real pleaser is the sound quality and the atmosphere created by the low end. It actually makes you want to listen to music. You get a beefy nice pumping sound because its closed back, which is surprisingly detailed but with a pleasant and satisfying low end.
They come highly recommended and the majority can’t be wrong.
I like them and use them for listening to general music and then as my primary tracking phones before switching to something more intimately detailed for mixing.

The best headphones I’ve used for gaming and music. The sound is incredible and they’re so comfortable for long sessions. I like the material of the ear cups and how they feel.
The noise isolation is very good, I can still hear when my partner says something but I have to remove one ear to hear what she’s said. Whereas with something with active noise cancellation like my Bose QC-35II I would not hear that she had said a word at all. This suits me perfectly as I can use them for gaming and listening to music/watching videos and still respond when spoken to!
I prefer the sound from these to my Bose for absolutely everything, bass is great and not overwhelming and they certainly can be cranked up load from my PC front panel audio, I don’t need an amp or anything for the 80 ohm model.
They’re cheaper material but since they stay at my desk permanently, I don’t mind at all.
Only minor complaint is that my pair says “L” on both ear cups, but that’s just the housing, they work perfectly and I certainly wasnt going to send them back for something so unimportant.
Definitely don’t hesitate and you won’t regret it. My favourite headphones that will never leave my desk and for a 1/3rd of the price of other headphones I’ve bought!

I bought the beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO headphones to use for portable music production on a Macbook pro when I’m not in the studio. A few weeks in I have found them to be extremely comfortable for long hours and they have a very good level of detail in the sound for my needs. The only slight negative for me is that i find them to be a little quieter than I would have liked so have to use gain boost on Logic Pro X.

    Great pair of headphones:
I wasn’t sure what what pair of headphones to go for since I don’t have a PC amplifier and I just wanted to plug this into my motherboard which seemed quite a pain to try and find out what ohm rating it was.
However after buying the 80ohm headphones I can say they work perfectly with just my PC, Maybe later I will upgrade to amp.
As these are studio headphones these are great for picking up different instruments and sounds which makes them great to listen to music, I was a little disappointed when I tried these headphones first time because I was expecting them to be very Bassey (I went for the closed back)
As I found my old razor kraken had more base however the more I use these headphones the more I don’t mind about this.
And I’m sure if I bought a amp I could increase the base maybe.
Mainly I use these headphones for Gaming and they are perfect, I can hear every sound in the game like footsteps and doors opening and closing.
I can use them for very long uses because they are quite comfortable
My problem with my old headset was that it was heavy and would fall off my head However these headphones are the opposite since they’re very lightweight (compared to my razer krakens) and clamp to my head so they don’t fall off.
These headphones are my favourite pair I have tried so far and I can’t recommend them enough

I am overall satisfied with these headphones, but to get to the point I will list the few negatives I have, since that’s what matters the most to people reading.
    – I found the earpads that came with the headphones to lack the proper thickness/comfort, so I had to replace them with a standalone pair from a different brand
    – The build quality could be improved, as there are very loud cracks from time to time (so loud that you might think you broke something the first time)

I would definitely recommend these to anyone in need of a good pair of headphones. The price you pay offers a lot of value in return.
I also use these for gaming, and found no issues there. I pair them with a Fiio E10K amplifier.

Good neutral sound. The fact they are closed back did not seem to effect their openness to me. Importantly these are very comfortable, even when wearing glasses I can go four hours with no discomfort at all, I would imagine listening in excess of this would be fine too. The pads are far better then leather or pleather types, velour is definitely now my favourite pad material. They drive well, I’ve been using them domestically on an arcam a39’s headphone out, also on a rega ear headphones amp and additionally from my mobile through an audioquest dragon fly red, all of these options went more that loud enough for me. All in all a good set of headphones, if you can only afford one pair give them a go, I think you’d like them, I do.

I do a lot of audio mixing and bought a pair of DT880s a while ago, but because they’re open back they don’t give any noise reduction at all, which I sometimes need. I tried the Bose 700s and found the top end wasn’t as clean as the DT880s and the bass was too heavy, so I gave up the idea of active noise cancelling (and bluetooth) and opted for the DT770s. They basically sound like the 880s with a ‘smile’ EQ curve on them – the bass and top end are definitely boosted vs the 880s, so you get a more coloured sound approaching more of a Bose 700 sound, but it actually makes them nicer to listen to and once you adjust for it you can easily still mix with them. Well worth the money – I haven’t heard any other headphones at this price that come close to having the top end clarity of the DT770s.

It was quite a surprise to be honest.
Sound is just excellent. Rich bass, plenty highs, no resonance, no distortions.
Very comfortable, head pressure is just right.
Another unexpected benefit(by me) – good sound isolation.
You may listen what you like without leaking sound outside, so people around you will not annoyed with your music playing loud.
Same time, you may escape from noises around, like TV, neighbor playing his music loud e.t.c. – nothing coming though to your ears. Sometimes I just put them on even without any music – just to low down unwanted noise.
    Well, they are great.
Buying them was with some issues.
Initially I’ve got defective pair – cable was broken at 3.5 jack.
Amazon picked up defective unit in couple days from my home – no probs here.
But then, I had to wait for 3 weeks to replace them… and it was a gift…
Looked like they had to send defective pair back to Germany by horses and transport replacement using same means..
It is 21st century people – it got to be faster than this..
Anyway, I’ve got my replacement and quite happy with headphones.
    I definitely recommend it.
For the price, you will get hi end product.

I liked them then I hated them then I loved them.

They’re different from what you’re used to. I have a pair of Bowers & Wilkins P5’s – on ear which are brilliant but uncomfortable after a while.

These are really comfy for long listening sessions but are quiet with a pixel 2xl android phone. I bought a little Bluetooth dac/amp and they came alive!

The volume was an issue for me, I bought the 32 ohm version which is supposedly suited to mobile devices but they haven’t got the oomph which is why I bought a heading headphone amp.

They’re great headphones but you really need an amp to bring them alive so factor in another 50 quid.

I bought this so I can practice piano while people are watching TV. When you pop them on first you may be disappointed that you can still hear other sounds, but the moment you start listening through them you can’t hear a thing from outside. Quality is fine
I have tested with only TV/talking, cooking noises, kids annoying me etc. No idea if it stops aircraft noise etc. Would be very suitable for noisy office.
I have a fat head and its still comfy, but its a very firm fit so if you’re looking for all day office headphones I would probably consider something else.
I got the 80 Ohms version and my digital piano drives it.

I love the sound quality of these and the build but I am just disappointing that the cable is fixed so whenever it finally gives out the whole 100+ headphone will need to be replaced!

As I need to tidy up the cable after every use (cats in the house would otherwise destroy them) I worry about how long the cable, and therefore whole thing, will last, so I am worried about such an expensive headphone dying on me soon.

All being said though, the sound is incredible for mixing and recording music as well as practising my digital piano. the sound is so good its almost better than hearing it through the speakers!!!

I got the 80 ohm version which is the bassist of the trio and i gotta say that the bass is awesome, very detailed and goes low. The mid range is recessed but wasn’t a problem for me preference wise. The highs are crisp and isn’t as sharp in the treble although i could be wrong. The build quality is a mix of metal and plastic which creates a light but durable headphone which will lasts for years to come. Comfort has been excellent, pillows to my ears with the velour pads and doesn’t sweat as much. Downside is that of portability but the custom pros will be a great alternative if you want a headphone similar to this. There’s also other options at the price bracket which does things better sound wise. For the money, it’s a great option for gaming, music and everyday use if you don’t mind or love its sound signature.

These are amazing headphones. The build quality is fantastic, they look great and sound awesome. They have a very enjoyable sound to them. Nice bass and clear highs without being too overpowering. Compared to my old Cloud II gaming headphones, the 770 pros absolute destroy them. They have far better clarity and a richer sound. I use these pretty much solely on my pc with a Soundblaster Z card and it gets plenty loud enough. I usually can’t put it past 50% windows volume. Before these, I tried the DT 990 Pro and Philips X2HR. The 990’s treble was too harsh for me and the X2HRs were too big with annoying pads that constantly attracted lint. These 770 pros are superbly comfortable and always look pristine. The soundstage is also very impressive for closed back headphones. If you’re on the fence, give them a go! For the price, these are absolutely amazing headphones.

I was in the market for some studio headphones, and was torn between these and the Sony MDR-7506, I bought these headphones after countless recommendations; for the perfectly flat signal and their comfort. I’ve worn the Sony MRD-7506’s before, and I can tell you, these are vastly more comfortable, with a much better sound quality.
I’ve also tried them while gaming, however (especially the 250 ohm version) they’re not particularly built for this, not only because their flat signal is meant to help you mix and master music properly, not blow you away, but also because the high impedance versions require a headphone amplifier in order to sound good at high volumes with no distortion (I suggest the Behringer MicroMon MA400 if you want a good and cheap amp). If you want to use these for gaming, I suggest purchasing the 32 or 80 ohm models, which can be driven easily without an amp.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought these for the production of home recordings. On first use, I could hear so much more detail than the computer speakers or my Bose QC15. When I tried a professional recording the result was excellent. I didn’t buy these for the gaming but as this review prompted me to give a score I tried them and wow! I heard sounds in the games that I had never heard before. For those with questions about the impedance. I have a Rubix 22 interface and these headphones are the 80 model.
