BLACK+DECKER 18V String Trimmer 28cm – Bare Unit
This 18V Strimmer by BLACK+DECKER is a powerful, ergonomically designed string trimmer that is ideal for trimming excess grass growing around a wall, fence, flowerbed or pathway and gives lawn borders a neat and tidy finish.
Powered by E-drive technology, a high-torque gear system, the strimmer can power through the toughest overgrown areas quickly and without clogging. With a 5500-7400rpm variable speed motor, you get full control over the power and runtime of the strimmer. It will cut up to 2500 linear meters with its large 28cm cutting swath in one charge. This means you can complete most garden tasks without having to stop to recharge. The strimmer features AFS which automatically feeds out the line from the spool when needed. This product is a bare unit, and is not supplied with a battery.

Automatic Feed System

First test was OK. Not too loud or too heavy. Would prefer a bit more power and 2 strimming lines instead of one for quicker work but maybe unfair to compare power to my last petrol one
I bought it for my wife to use up the allotment as there’s no power, and she didn’t want a petrol one. She does say her hands ache after using it for a while, but will probably improve as she gets used to it. The batteries I have are only 1.5Ah, so don’t last long, as they are from my reciprocating saw, so have ordered an adapter from eBay to use my DeWalt batteries on it.
I might update this review when the adapter arrives .
Delighted with my purchase. So cheap but does exactly what I wanted it to do. Ideal for small garden the edging is perfect with the easy rotation of the head and handle design. Just brilliantly made

This strimmer is very easy to use in both modes, and I find that the battery life works well for me.
Light but sturdy. Easy to use. Feels like it will last for some time with regular use in a small garden.
B+D batteries last about 30 to 45 mins in this depending on the setting you use.
Really happy with this purchase, idea for a reasonable sized garden and lightweight to use.
Like the fact it not only self feeds the line but that it also does lawn edges. Bought as a direct replacement for one my grandson ruined I had the battery so the bare unit made sense. Handled properly will give many years of service also good battery life.
I like that this is lightweight and ergonomic. I have used it with my own Black and Decker 1.5AH battery, which gives a runtime of nearly 25-30 mins at setting 1. With my higher capacity battery of 5AH, I get a very good runtime of nearly an hour.
Bon produit pour faire de la finition, mais limit par manque de puissance de petites finition de bordures ou petites pousses, branches. Trs lger et trs maniable.
It’s a great bit of kit and as I have other black and decker cordless tools I didn’t need to buy the battery. It works absolutely fabulously.

So far I have found this strimmer to be easy to use, light and brilliant for edging. I haven’t had it long enough to know how long the batter lasts.
This item barely cuts through grass! Very weak and poor!
I was a little worried after reading other reviews about the dreaded whell however it wasn’t a problem at all it went right up to the edges without a problem and the wheel has a screw so you can remove it if you really wanted.good easy to use and we’ll buil

sehr Leistungsstark ,gut Trimmleistung -mit 2 Akkus kann ich mein groes Grundstck mhelos abgrasen.
Habe auch einen BL&De Netztrimmer und idealerweise haben beide die selben Spulen.
Die Umrandung des Fhrungsloch fr den Faden ist leider aus sehr schlechtem Material, (vielleicht Sollbruchstelle?). Ansonsten erfllt der Trimmer alle Anforderungen.
I use this for strimming under trees. not long grass though. the battery does not do many jobs though. edges of lawns. easy to use and lightweight. I am 78 and can manage it ok. thank you

Very pleased with automatic feed. Makes everything much easier.
Only complaint with this is that my Fatmax drill which has the exact same. Battery is not interchangeable with this one due to the configuration of the plastic. This also applies to the chargers. They are deliberately arranged so that cannot be interchanged although they are all under the same umbrella company.
Had to reorder as first trimmer lost in transit. Not difficult to assemble. Easy to use and adjust.

The trimmer is just as powerful as a corded one, well balanced and very easy to use. The telescopic element is very useful and easy to adjust. The battery installation and removal is very easy and the whole product, albeit mainly plastic,has a very sturdy feel to it. All in all a very impressive piece of kit that looks good and performs well. The automatic strimmer cable release is very useful and saves time having to release the cable manually.

It’s very good for price. It’s still a little heavy for me but I’m quiet small. Got garden all done without charging and I have a very big garden.
Good peace of kit to have in your garden quite powerful but you do have to keep the battery plugged in when not in use as it looses some of its charge over time

I was using shears to cut around the edges so I am very happy with this strimmer as it is a great improvement! It is very heavy though and gives us all terrible arm ache for days after. Not sure how long the spool lasts as I haven’t had it long

It’s easy to handle and does a great job of keeping things tidy at my allotment. Battery lasts long enough to get the job done.
Arrived well ahead of schedule, would described as a well designed trimmer, easy to change over for edging of lawn, “which should have a 2” + clearance before contact with soil…assembly relatively straight forward following a well illustrated instruction document, the exception being the grass deflection guard) where heavy hand pressure was required to engage plastic clips, assistance of a second person is helpful…well balanced with the smaller person in mind, battery life adequate for general clean-up and edging. “Nice bit of kit from B & D” quick response from seller to be noted.
The strimmer is light to handle and cuts normal grass as well as edges, which is what I wanted.
I like the weight of this strimmer and it is easy to operate but I find the battery frustrating. I have a large garden and it will only work for approximately 15 or 20 mins until it needs to be recharged, which takes hours

This continues bringing together a new family of garden tools. It’s an excellent piece of equipment, solid, handsome, well designed, easy to set up, well balanced and very efficient.
For its first job, it has done a much needed clearance of unsightly fringes, rampant weeds and yard invaders with no trouble at all. Light on the arms but tough on vegetation, tough on the causes of vegetation, as someone might once have said.
I obviously don’t know yet how long the cord will last or how far a charge will get me. It worked for half an hour at full power and feel sure it will do rather better than that.

I’ve now used it seriously three times on two properties, and the big standout feature is the long battery life – I haven’t flattened it yet. It’s lightweight and also very well-balanced, which makes it so much less effortful to use. It destroys efficiently with a high degree of precision around garden plants. The simple kerb-edging adjustment is a real bonus. A great piece of kit, and brilliant for the price.

Sehr schnelle und zgige Lieferung, das Gert ist leicht zu Hndeln. Die Ladung eines Akku’s reicht gut wie beschrieben.

Very easy to use, and being able to switch to edge trimming saves so much back strain. In a large garden it leaves the grass with half a haircut on one charge, so I bought a second battery. Also, charge the battery just
prior to using as it loses charge quickly. This is the only downside, but once charged it’s great.
