As new the drivers and head band are very tight, the more I run them in the more I like them. The battery life is epic, fast charging. I am happy with these headphones

Full and satisfactory sound quality. Effective ANC with talk through; ambient alert; low or high level ANC. Comfortable for long time wearing with the right ear pads thickness and headband cushion and clamping strength. Good battery hours. Easy accessible control button.

Excellent sound quality, slightly better than the Sennheiser Momentum 2 that i have. in terms of Bluetooth connectivity it also excells: its very quick. last but not least the battery autonomy is awesome, lasts a few days of intensive usage. Even quicker is the charging time, 15min is enough. Overall an excellent headphone, the best I owned so far (Sennheiser Momentum 2, AKG N60, Skullcandy Grind)

I first ordered these around tow years ago. Initial thoughts were that they were great. The sound quality was impeccable and comfort was perfect.

Although I do have to note, after a day I started hearing a screeching noise almost like a faint old dialup tone from the first internet days. I though it was just me but it got gradually worse. I reported it and wanted an exchange. Amazon didn’t want anything to do with it and made me go direct to Bowers and Wilkins where I asked for a replacement but they insisted on fixing them. Which is fair enough but when you pay such amounts for a small price of tech I didn’t really trust it. A testament to B&W though, 2 years in and they are still working clear as ever! Call me petty but I still would have preferred a replacement set from either company though. Doesn’t totally sit well that I was sold a faulty product and although it was fixed it’s like buying a refurbished model for the price of a new set.

Back to product review! The fairest way to review the PX7’s is In 2 parts. Sound/ quality and usability and noise cancelling due to them being worlds apart.

    Sound/ quality and usability:

The sound is still as impeccable as I first bought them. The highs are amazing. Every detail of the track you are listening to comes out clear and you really notice it’s quality here. The mids are perfect ensuring your a fully immersed in the track. Vocals are clear and perfectly balanced making it sound so natural and effortless. The lows are equally perfect. Bass is handled in a way that doesn’t drown the track out making you lose the vocals or have to strain to focus on enjoying the track. They make listening effortless and that’s what you need from headphones surely? I listen to a diverse wide range of music from rock n roll to trance music back round to blues and each genre is handled with grace and always enjoyable to listen to. I also listen to a audio books in day to day life and I must admit they are much more enjoyable on the PX7’s. It captures the narrators voice and tones perfectly and when in a quiet place you can really get lost in the stories.

The build quality of the PX7’s is second to none. I am so pleased, apart from the first hiccup, with their solid materials and smooth workings of the ear cups on the headband of oozes quality and the charger port and jack cable are solid and have held up this far! The buttons are for ease of use and simple but are also solid and standing up to my fat fingers to date. You can be assured that triple clicking the play button to listen to that track that grips you 50 times won’t kill the hardware! Connectivity is easy as well, with or without the app. Which is great in its self. You can control all there is to control on these headphones from your phone. They even have samples of calming noises/ music if you fancy.

All in all, less the noise cancelling feature I will get on to shortly, they perform perfectly with supreme build quality and effortless usability. On this alone I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a mid to high end headphone for music at home or on the go. Sound quality does not differ!

Regards to the comfort they are extremely comfortable, although quite bulky they are well balanced and don’t rub etc. I’ve worn these for for hot 4 or 5 hours on trains or at work just getting my head down and the ear cups are a dream. The only thing worth noting that probably isn’t an isolated issue to the PX7’s is that after long periods you may have to adjust the headband height to relieve pressure on the top of your head as it can get a tad tender if to tight or the height is incorrect again they are otherwise perfect. Nice and firm right but not too tight and won’t fall off your head if you are running for a train or something if the sort.

The only issue I found was with the usb charger lead. It still charges well and works with no loose connections etc. But the protective plastic sheath around the fitting at each end (usb and usb-c) slides off. Making it a nervy removal from charging. Otherwise no complaints at all.

    Noise cancelling (ANC):

This is really tricky to review as the adaptive noise cancelling works and does adapt to environment and you can adjust the the heat through via the app, it’s just not that great. So much so I nearly requested another exchange. It works to a minimum and just about takes the edge off the environment you are in but some sounds come through clear as day and can be quite startling; even on the highest setting with no heat through. On the plus there is no hiss and you can actually tell the difference when you turn it on I would just expect much more from such a brand and for the price of this product. If this feature is what you are purchasing the PX7’s for I would look to a different brand as you will be disappointed. However for minimum noise cancelling and superior sound quality I would highly recommend.

This may be a little lengthy of a review but there is a lot to cover especially if you are like myself and looking to splash a little more money on something you aren’t used to spending on!

Fantastic sound quality and comfort but poor noise cancellatio

Bought these primarily to pair with a TV. The instructions in the box consist of a large card with some pretty pictures. However, fear not. Just download the product manual. It’s excellent – but why isn’t this signposted with the product? Bluetooth pairing is straightforward. The headphones are comfortable and build quality is excellent. You also get a sturdy carry pod to protect them when travelling. What’s not to like?

The Px7 headphones are a great headphone for the price, the sound quality is amazing, however one thing to note is that to get the most out of a pair of Bluetooth headphones, your sending device (laptop, phone, AV receiver) must support one of the higher quality codecs. In this case APTX-HD.

The noise cancelling is generally pretty good at blocking most external noise, I have noticed in the wind it can get a bit confused though.

I have found the volume can be quite low on Bluetooth mode, I experimented using the 3.5mm socket and an external sound card and the sound greatly increased, this was some what disappointing as I believe this to be a hardware issue of the headphones themselves.

Really is to be honest. I’ll keep this simple. Well presented, lovely hard case with a couple of cables included, mini jack to jack and USB C to USB (C?). Love how the app is just bare minimum on your phone, these do not need EQ adjusting, they just sound fantastic out of the box. You have some options for transparency and noise cancellation. Physical buttons are great too, hate touch controls which never work properly. Great soundstage and clarity, amazing bass, no distortion, great noise cancellation. Just like a club in your head, fantastic for electronic music especially. Look at John Darko’s review on YouTube, great review on these. These are my go to headphones, they’re really comfortable. I do get warm ears after wearing them for a while, but no discomfort for long periods of time and I get that with any over ear headphones I wear. Definitely recommend, they’re awesome!

I tend not to write reviews on my Amazon purchases but I feel compelled to after using my PX7’s for a while. I’ve been using Beats Studio Wireless (v2 and v3) for a number of years and I’ve flown extensively with them. I’ve been very happy with the sound quality but the build quality of the Beats has been disappointing, cracking on the headband of the v2 and early disintegration of the ear pads on both sets. That started my interest in looking at what else was on the market.

I’ve been a B&W fan for a long time (in car / speaker systems) but the price has always deterred me. I was really happy to see that the PX7’s had been launched and trialled them against the XM4 and the BeoPlay HX. I was underwhelmed with the BeoPlay’s, especially given the cost. In the end, the price that Amazon was offering the PX7’s (100 cheaper than UK Duty Free) made it a no-brainer.

The product quality of the PX7’s is great and I’ve found them to be very comfortable to wear. The sound clarity and quality is next level, great stereo separation and very engaging. I was concerned that I’d miss the heavy bassline of the Beats but there is no lack of bass with the PX7’s. The sound balance is excellent.

The only thing I can find as a small irritation is that the headphones don’t fold as compactly as the Beats. The Beats could be conveniently attached to my laptop bag with a carabina clip but the design of the PX7’s means that the case is more similar to my old Bose QC’s and that will need to go in to a bag.

Noise cancellation (all three modes) seem to be great so far.

If you enjoy listening to music and movies and want a high quality set of bluetooth headphones, I’d recommend the PX7’s.

Daher ganz klare Kaufempfehlung. Sehr Gutes P-L-Verhltnis.

Bought these to replace my now broken Sennheiser Momentum headphones. I am very impressed with the sound, not needing to increase the volume much about a third, with punchy rounded bass and sparkling treble but somehow not overpowering the midrange. However, the standout feature has to be the build quality and weight – or lack of weight! I almost wish my previous cans had broken sooner!

The sound on a flat eq is nothing special, they don’t sound as good as my stennheiser’s. I have to add eq to boost the volume and create my own balanced sound. The anc is OK but doesn’t block all the road noise. I brought these because they were suppose to bring clarity and an open sound stage but that’s not what I’ve got. I will keep them but I am disappointed and will look to replace them in the next few months.

    Akkulaufzeit ist formidable.

These are absolutely amazing headphones. The sound quality is simply incredible, and listening to them has on occasion brought tears to my eyes, much to the bemusement of my family! Their response across the whole frequency range is very good – deep, well-controlled bass, clear midrange and sweet, soaring treble. Nothing is overblown of fatiguing. The soundstage is as wide as I’ve ever heard on any headphones.

I bought the Carbon edition, and they look absolutely drop-dead gorgeous! The headphones are extremely well made, and feel like they should be double the price. The earcups are comfortable, well-padded and they don’t grip too tightly.

The mobile app is sleek and minimalist – sure, it doesn’t have the comprehensive equalisation options of the Sony WH1000-XM4s, but you honestly don’t need it as the sound is so perfect across all genres (to my ears, anyway.)

The noise cancellation is good in our chaotic home environment, but I haven’t yet tried them on the move.

I researched extensively before I made this purchase, and read some daft comments remarking that sound quality was the only thing these headphones do exceptionally well. Erm, they’re headphones – that’s like moaning that Pagani Zonda doesn’t make nice toast.

I would encourage anyone wavering to just go ahead and buy these – if you’re a music lover you absolutely will not regret it.

It’s just what I wanted. I’ve been watching these headphones for a while and got them really quickly. I’m pleased with them. I’ve had two other pairs of B&W’s and didn’t want to switch over to a others brand. For my needs they fit great. The sound quality it impressive and immersive. If you’re looking for a quality pair of headphones you can do worse than these.

headphones look really clean and stylish. very comfortable, can wear for long periods of time. Sound is great and battery life is excellent. Noise cancelling not as strong as Sony’s but is more than capable of drowning out most things.

They look very nice and sound quality is good, but…

The battery life is advertised 30 hours or something. Well it seems to apply even for standby, so if I just forget them on my desk without turning them off they will be empty at the morning.

“Two simultaneous connections” feature doesn’t work reliably. App gives errors. And the microphone is absolutely useless for calls (and I actually mean *useless*, not ‘just a bit bad’ or something)

So – overall – while they are comfortable and look awesome – everything else is disappointing. The only reason I gave 4 stars and not less is because they use animal-friendly materials, which is very important to me.

So I purchased these to replace some longstanding Audiotechnica ATH MX50 headphones which I’d nearly worn out. I was absolutely NOT sold on the idea of bluetooth headphones, I didn’t want to experience the sound quality loss, however these allow you to play via USB, via 3.5mm jack and via bluetooth, so this made it a moot point. I’ve also favoured close sealing in-ear buds on airplanes rather than have anything with noise cancelling so this was my first venture into that world.

Overall they are a great set. They are incredibly easy to use, they just work, and they deliver some fabulous sound quality while also having the strong noise cancelling. The soundspace is at its best when plugged in via USB to a computer with noise cancelling off, but switching to bluetooth and the sound is still excellent. Moving into noise cancelling works very nicely, you can hear the space become a little smaller but if you need the cancelling then it is far better to have the slightly less sound quality which is still great without the disturbance, than it is to have the best sound but lots of other noise coming through.

The look, style, fit is very nice, and the case is good quality and holds them securely with a bit of toughness to it. They charge REALLY quickly and keep charge for ages.

The mobile app is actually quite useful, one of the things it allows is configuration of the pass through/hear through mode where you toggle whether you want to hear the outside world when someone is talking to you. You can choose the sensitivity between allowing a small amount of the sound through, right up to pretty much amplifying the sound above your normal hearing levels.

I think the worst part is the microphone for voice calls, it is ok, nothing special. I didn’t buy it for calls, I bought it for music listening pleasure, so this doesn’t especially bother me as the headphones are focusing on the thing they are great for.

    Overall, very happy customer.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAfter my Sony MK3’s failed I ordered MK4’s through Warehouse Deals and was let down by a faulty right ear. Dissappointed in Sony, perhaps it was time to look about the market for a better brand, after having stuck with Sony for a few years and hearing of other brands catching up in that time…. one of them with awesome reviews online were these PX7s…

I ordered brand new MK4’s and the Carbon PX7’s, but ended up keeping the Sony’s in the end (which finally worked without hissing problems). Here’s why…

The PX7 sound is sparkling, detailed, much wider and the 43mm driver is really noticeable… there’s so much clarity especially in the highs and and the base is crisp and punchy. It was most impressive watching some Dolby 4K movie samples on Youtube… details I had never heard before and a more spacious sound made me wonder if all the years of movies on the Sony’s had me missing out on true sound.

As good as the sound is though, any immersion it creates is lost by the discomfort of the headphones. They are so well built, really premium and the pads are bigger than the Sonys and barely touch the ear lobes at all, which is great for the sound, but the surrounding cups are heavier and more clamped and cause discomfort on the jawlines mostly. Basically, when you are wearing the Sony’s you forget about them on your head, except for the warmth of them… but, the PX7 you are always aware of the tightness of headphones on your head and quite quickly it becomes distracting.

The ANC is not as good as the SONY’s in the highs, in voices, but is about as good in the low end. A benefit of the PX7s is that there is zero hissing, but the difference between ANC on and off doesn’t seem huge, the noise cancelling I feel mostly comes from the vice like clamp that headphones have on your head passively noise cancelling.

The other issue with sound is that as you to try to adjust EQ settings in Apple Music it begins to distort the mids, I tried playing around with a subtle EQ that would enhance the PX7 sound and push the mids up (which feel muffled) and it does this well, but then the track changes and the entire EQ sounds off again. The Sony’s are constant in every song. In the end, I feel Bowers don’t want you to mess with their sound and want all EQ’s off, hence why the offer none on their app. And, with the EQ unadjusted, for music, the sound is just too sparkly, though so detailed and ascending, when you just want to crack on with work, writing or editing or something, for hours, it’s actually quite a distractingly wide, fresh, high sound. The Sony’s just work – light, comfortable, narrower sound, but warmer sound and the ANC is, if you manage to get a pair that don’t hiss, flawless.

So… basically, I was left a little bit like I was teased with the world of Audiophile level sound. I know it’s out there now, but the PX7 just aren’t the headphones that will take me there. I am left wanting more for my Sony money, knowing that there’s all that detail out there, but ultimately comfort and ANC and consistency and dependancy are why I chose the Sony’s which cope well with EQ changes and the sound enhancer settings in Apple Music and also they’re connection is more solid and a better App. Also, after a couple days I’ve already forgotten about the audio difference and, with each passing year, sound improves across the board with all brands – so maybe Sony will get there or whoever. But the PX7’s not the headphones to spend hours writing too, but very impressed and I will not forget them or the world of detail they have made me aware of.

The product in real life looks just like on the front side of the box. It’s very simple to feel the great quality of the materials used to craft it. PX7 are a bit heavy, and it might be uncomfortable to wear them for several hours a day. In my case, they caused a slight headache after wearing them for 2-3 hours for a week or so, but I got used to their weight and I don’t feel it anymore. As for the sound itself, there’s nothing to complain about. The quality is absolutely great. Loudness? A half of the volume bar is enough for me – I don’t want my head to explode! Mic although is poor quality having in mind price of these headphones. Battery lasts for 20-25h or so, similar to what the manufacturer promises. Overall, this is a very good product, but it has some cons.

I already had a pair of over the ear Sennheiser HD 800 S for use at home and a pair of in the ear Sennheiser TW2 for outdoor casual use. I purchased the B&W PX7 Carbon for travel and short leaves from home for vacation and so on. The selection of material (aluminum caps, carbon composite structure and leather pads) build quality is premium. Audio quality is very good: bass with just enough punch, vocals very staisfactory and absolutely rich treble. Soundstage is outstanding for a closed end headphone (probably due to large size drivers). The AptX HD works extremely well. The 30 hour battery life is simply more than anyone would ask. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersOriginally I purchased these headphones over the Airpods max because of the price difference (About $150-200 cheaper). The sound quality of these is amazing, the lows are easily heard/felt all the way down to 10hz and the highs were crisp all the way to the top. The mids were slightly muffled, but still very good. While I really enjoyed the sound quality, I ended up returning them. When using the noise cancellation feature and listening to bass heavy music, the left speaker would start clipping at higher volumes. The only other issue I had with them was that the leather ear cups tend to hold heat in, which isn’t a huge issue, but after multiple hours of listening It became mildly annoying. The noise cancelling is definitely good, but the AirPods noise cancelling is far superior. The cloth cups on the AirPods are definitely more comfortable for longer use times. If you don’t have a lot of Apple hardware, these are a great option as long as you don’t crank the volume up with anc on. If you are deep into the Apple ecosystem, the airpods max are definitely worth the extra money.

    Spectacular headphones.
I have no gripes with these at all. Perfect all round. Comfortable, awesome sound, look amazing, superb build quality, noise cancellation is sublime.

Ignore the rest, be a bit different and grab these bad boys.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat service and arrived very promptly and well packaged, actual box and headphones case is of a very high standard so I couldn’t wait to try them out. The headphones appearance says quality and they feel quality all round when both off and more importantly on your ears, also quite comfortable but no good for exercise as they got warm/hot in twenty minutes of plodding on an exercise bike. The noise cancelling is certainly not great but would be effective in certain situations. The controls are quite straightforward and work well and I found the battery very, very good. Alas though the all important sound did not inspire me, yes it is very good but for the price and having read lots of reviews and done comparisons I was expecting much more. As I said the sound is very good but I have a pair of Yamaha over ear phones costing under 100 that are comparable, not quite as sharp on strings but as good as elsewhere….I gave 3 people a blind test and asked which pair cost 3 times as much as the other pair and 2 people picked the Yamahas. I suspect they punch above their weight and maybe the PX7 need more than the 10 hours or so perform better. Big part of the reason for this purchase was the sturdiness and the fact they do not fold completely because they are primarily for a disabled young lady that lives with us who is a little clumsy and breaks things so for her they are sturdy and well suited. I should add if I had bought these for myself they would be going back and I would be trying others because I expect better sound for that price, maybe the noise cancelling features detract from the sound (I am not qualified to know). I have had Bose noise cancelling headphones that were not great either and also had a big price tag. Update 20 May….got a headphone jack adaptor for 6.5m to use with Denon Amplifier, massive improvement in every aspect of sound compared to using on PC and phone so as per a previous reviewer the quality of the source makes a big difference.

Sound quality is good. Active noise cancellation is OK, although my Sony MDR100x cut out more extraneous sound, but they fell apart after a couple of years and spare parts are not available so wouldn’t buy them again.

I wouldn’t describe myself as an audiophile but I love music and have owned many pairs of headphones. These are by far the best I have ever used. I listen to a Bluetooth turntable and a Bluetooth connected CD player using these and the sound quality is excellent. I also use them for Apple Music and you can tell the difference in the quality of the music source which is testament to how good the headphones are. The battery lasts ages and the app is easy to use. Even when just in noise cancelling mode without music they do a good job.

Upgraded from B&W P7 which I’ve been using for a number of years now. These PX7 are real nice, don’t seem to be quite as well built as the P7 but the sound quality is every bit as good if not slightly better due to the ANC. They are slightly lighter than the P7 and I like the fact they have now hidden the wiring inside the band. I also have a pair of Apple AirPod Pro. I would say the ANC is a little better on the AirPods but there is just no comparison when it comes to the sound quality. These PX7 is just a cut above the AirPod Pro. I tend to use the PX7 for music and the AirPod Pro for Netflix etc.

I haven’t compared these to any other headphones, I don’t know what the Sony competition sounds like, but I love these PX 7 carbon’s. There is no sound control i.e profiles, bass or treble or anything like that, they are set up with a specific profile from the manufacturer to be able to reproduce the music as the artist intended. This is the B&W ethos and it works for me. I am accustomed to this approach as I have a Naim Muso one box speaker solution so I didn’t find myself wanting for adjustments. They give a nice true representation of the music, but like anything, the better the quality of the recording and quality of the source file, the better they will sound. If you play a poor quality very compressed file, well, you can’t polish a turd as they say! I use them with my iPhone 11 Pro and the sound is great, even with downloaded iTunes files and I appreciate that the iPhone uses different codecs where I am not getting the APTX hd benefit etc, but they sound lovely all the same. I tried them wired to listen to some vinyl and I couldn’t really hear a great step up in quality, but I was using an 18 yr old pioneer VSX5i amp that was predominantly an AV receiver, rather than either a dedicated headphone or HiFi amp, so not sure on the wired performance and think it’s likely my equipment, but don’t get me wrong, still very good, just not a noticeable step up in my circumstances and equipment choice.
I also use the headphones pretty much daily for watching tv, they connect direct to my Samsung TV, 3 – 4 yrs old and it doesn’t use APTX LL and I don’t have any lip sync issues even without the low latency codec being available for use. Overall very happy. One thing to note is that these were on sale for Black Friday and came down to 230, so when I was in the market for some new headphones, I took a chance and waited for the Boxing Day sale to see if they would drop and they did to 230. Would I be as happy if I had paid 350, I think so.

I got these headphones for listening to music from various sources.
I can attach to two different items.
Taking them for a 2.5 mile walk, they did make my ears sweaty and that was in low double figures in temp, but I think most headphones like these would.
The sound is very good, the noise reduction is good (via the app).
The app which you can download on apple or google stores has worked fine so far.
You get two cables, a 3.5mm jack cable and a usb to usb c cable (would have been better with usb c to usb c with a usb converter, but I have my own cables).
The case is semi hard and gives good protection.
Worth the extra money for the extra quality.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFive star noise cancellation is not something I need. The level is sufficient for my needs.

My priority was sound quality, and this doesn’t disappoint. I find myself drawn into the music when it’s playing.

There is no noticeable lag when watching films.

The controls are easy to reach and operate after a little practice. And the headphones are comfortable to use with glasses. The case is compact yet offers good protection. Having dual connections is useful.

The app is pretty basic, having few bells and whistles. It doesn’t, for example, offer an equaliser.

But the sound-stage, the detail, the simplicity, and the quality…

These headphones have excellent sound quality and when used in places of high ambient noise, eg public transport, take full advantage of the variable noise cancelling functions to maintain sound quality. In my opinion, better than the Sony WH-1000XM4’s in several ways.

So I’ve used the M3’s previously and decided to upgrade to the new WH-1000XM4’s. Trying them out, one of the key things over the previous generation is the ability to join two devices at once…with a catch that no review mentions. You’ll need to drop out of LDAC codec and use AAC limited to 250kbps (less than Spotify quality). Rude. In addition, the sound wasn’t the signature I prefer in headphones.

As a result I got went for the PX7’s.

    Sound Quality
I can safely say they’re better than my old WH-1000XM3’s and actually better sound quality than the M4’s. The PX7’s have a much better sound stage, crisper, deeper and more refined base in addition to greater overall clarity. I also found both the M3 and M4 Sony’s tap out a little when really pushed with volume and a complex track, the PX7’s can hold it together much better.

    Noise Cancelling
In a nutshell, as good as the M3’s, but the M4’s have better noise cancelling for sure.

    Other Bits
B&W have a nice app, not as functional as the Sony Headphones app but still functional. Build…much, much better materials…like much better. Enough said. Good pairing, I can use my laptop and phone at the same time and it switches between music on laptop then calls easily.

Wasn’t sure at first but after about 60 hours of listening they’ve settled into a really warm and balanced sound. Noise cancellation was never a priority for me so hasn’t really been tested. Got the Carbon Edition and they look and feel quality unlike the plastic finish of Bose and Sony. I do have a slight concern over the durability of the internal wiring due to the complicated slide and hingeing but only time will tell with that.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersSound quality blew bose out of the water, so pretty i almost cried. Bower’s & Wilkins px7 carbon edition has crisp, clear vocals and highs, a great midrange and gorgeous thumping bass. Their noise cancellation is moderate compared to other brands i tried, it cancels a nearby hepa filter pretty well. I love it for music, it obviously shines there, but it’s equally beautiful for watching movies and tv thru your blutooth enabled devices (eg: apple tv, fire, some cable boxes etc). Pretty comfortable but can clamp a little tightly. Love the auto-stop feature, whether music or movies, it’ll pause the song or image wherever you are by lifting or moving the cans from your head and restarting it all once on again. I love them.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMake no mistake: you buy the PX7s for its awesome audio and build quality.

These are the best sounding ANC wireless headphones I’ve ever had. Forget Bose or Sony, B&W sit on a totally different league – by far. As a music producer, using the ATH-M50Xs which are truly amazing for studio use in terms of frequency reproduction, I wanted something similarly rewarding for a on-the-move experience but having the convenience of wireless and ANC. I tried many of its competitors and here’s my take.

The PX7s have a beautifully accurate low end. Well rounded, punchy and well defined. Opposite to the claimed Sony XM4s (I still can’t figure what’s the buzz around such pair of headphones), the low end is reproduced with clarity. Beefy, solid, involving and highly enjoyable. The XM4s are absolute trash compared to the PX7s, the low frequencies sound plastic and artificial, unnaturally boosted and badly reproduced. Not to mention unrealistically over saturated. My former wired Bose QC-25 did a reasonable job, but can’t be compared to the PX7s. Same for the boxy low end on the Bose 700s, too weak compared to the PX7s.

For the higher frequency spectrum, the PX7s have plenty of detail and separation, keeping hi-hats and upper freq instruments well placed in the mix. It’s a pleasant listening experience, opposite to some other too-crispy and harsh pair of headphones. Again and compared to the XM4s, the 700 or even the Sennheiser Momentum 3, it’s just 2 worlds apart.

The mids are accurate, but could be slightly (just slightly) boosted on the central range. Not an issue for me, as I’m not a fan of saturated mids and actually the PX7s reproduce the low-mids with precision, which is something other brands don’t — and you end up getting a muddy sound on your listening experience.

Soundstage: it’s large, it’s huge, well balanced and takes you to and immersive experience. I guess those 43 or 44mm drivers really do their job.

Ain’t gonna talk too much about specs, you know it by now or just google it. But for controls, this thing is a joy as I don’t like gesture controls on headphones. If you do, these are not for you. I like pressing buttons. And they work pretty well, very easy and intuitive to use. I must say I was unintentionally hitting the buttons while removing the headphones in the first few days, which I didn’t like, but after a while I got it right.

In terms of ANC, it’s good but not outstanding. The XM4s are generally better and so are the Bose 700s, mostly on the low “hum” frequencies. My old Bose QC-25s are slightly better too, most noticeable on airplane travelling (although they’re just as good on trains and on the street). However, I felt a considerable amount of ANC ear pressure on the Bose, which actually I don’t find it on the PX7s (perhaps very marginally). Also note that under windy conditions there’s a lot of noise coming into the PX7s, which is distracting and annoying. Something for B&W to address in a future release. If you use it under such circumstances, bear this mind. But globally speaking the ANC works well if you’re not exposing it to extreme low frequency challenges, however just not as well as some competitors.

Battery life: I guess it’s amazing but I don’t even care about it, it lasts so long that I forget it. It’s rated at 30h or so and I guess I’m close to getting that. Note: wired audio connection won’t work if there’s no battery.

Connection and App: the app works well but it’s just basic. Very easy to connect-disconnect devices. You can plug 2 simultaneously and all the remaining ones are on your “device list” — 1 click and you push it forward/select immediately. However, while using it with my iMac or Sony smart TV I noticed continuous sound issues (clicks and pops) if I pause/resume broadcasting or music streaming. Not nice, this must be address by B&W. However, after a 10 or 15s it normalises and works fine. But hey, such gap is way beyond acceptable everytime I press pause-play.

I saw a few reviews stating that an equalizer would be a great feature to add to the app. Generally I agree, but I doubt I’d be using it. The sound quality is stunning, I don’t see a need for EQ unless you listen a lot of poorly mixed tracks. Then it could be handy, but again, if that’s the case then you wouldn’t be looking for such a set of accurate headphones.

Lastly and for its build quality, these are absolutely top notch headphones. I got the black carbon special edition and love it. There’s carbon fibre, high quality (and replaceable) ear cushions, metal earcups on the external surface and globally the PX7s look very distinctive (to my liking, of course). The overhead springs are also robust but not excessively tight, just perfect. Compared to its competitors, they all feel plastic and cheap. And by the way: the case looks great (again: to my liking) and is rock solid.

Price: I got it for 249 EUR or so. I am more than happy and yes, I would buy it again. For such price tag I was unable to find something that would even get close to it.

    The PX7s are amazing.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSince I had experiences with B&W products , it was a easy decision to go with PX7. However, the experience with PX7 is somewhat mixed.
The initial pair had low frequency oversaturated and the mid sounded recessed. I wasn’t sure if it had faulty drivers, so I returned and get a 2nd pair. The 2nd pair did not have oversaturated low but there were intermittent metallic clicking noise on the right ear cup. It could be heard when the headset is turned on/off. It is super annoying when I was on conference calls as my jaw movement triggered the clicking noise. Exchanged the 3rd pair… and both ear cups had metallic clicking noise. I was really disappointed at this point. However, since I tried Sony XM4 (ANC was too strong that gave me headache), and Aonic 50 (I preferred its sound and mic for conference calls, but not enough ANC for my home office environment), PX7 has all around features, sound and ANC that doesn’t give me headache. Therefore, I gave PX7 one last try. Finally, the current one I received has no mentioned issues earlier but the mid still sounds recessed for my taste. So far, there is no issue on this pair but I’m worried about the QC since I have to go thru 3 pairs… fingers crossed.

AirPods max are heavy, sibilant and bass light, the PX7 by comparison have a solid tight bass and top end that makes symbols really sing. AirPods max returned to Apple.

The headphones are very good. I work at a desk and don’t have any issue wearing these headphones for most of my day, they are comfortable feel durable and block out quite a bit of noise even without the ANC turned on. They have plenty of bass, clear and dynamic sound across the frequencies but the emphasis is on the low end mostly. Don’t worry though, it’s not over bearing.
Within my first week of owning these headphones they “crashed” where I couldn’t turn them off, on or get them to function at all. They were clearly turned on because the led indicator on the right earcup was lit a turquoise sort of colour. I did a hard reset on the headphones and haven’t had a problem since. Other than that my only wish would be that I could use the headphones powered off but oh well. Not really a problem with the battery life they offer 🙂

Superbe casque.

Like the design and materials, built very sturdy, sits good on the head, controls are handy and well positioned. But I expected more regarding how the sound. Miss higher frequencies, bass could be deeper. Vocals are clean enough. Sound stage could be wider. Probably I would rather buy Sony, but the price for B&W was good.

    Unbedingte Kaufempfehlung! 6 ******

I have been after a top quality set of wireless headphones for over a year. I wouldn’t have chosen these had it not been for the What Hifi and Amazon customer reviews.

I wanted crisp sound; perfectly balanced but able to deliver true bass. Check, check and check.

I’m hearing old songs like it’s the first time as more layers are revealed.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese headphones are amazing. Very dynamic and lively. I used to own the TH900, which was very V shaped, with a lot of bass. On the
PX7, Highs, Mids and Bass are very well balanced. Audio is Just so clear and enjoyable.
headphones are very detailed and offer respectable imaging and soundstage.
first they have to play 70 hours
    Good Job B&W

    Excellent sound quality-life enhancing
