Nice size, and very quiet compared to last pump. Powerful enough for two showers. Easy to fit with fittings supplied
This is the second pump of this type I have fitted because the first one seized when it was 3 years old, it was easy to install as I was replacing the same model.
This was to replace a salamander pump that had given up. Easy to replace and much quieter only down side is that it was delivered with a bent mounting plate and the bottom looked like it had been used before.
This is the second Bristan pump I’ve had in 10 years. A previous different make of pump wasn’t as good as this one. I only replaced this one because living in a hard water area it began to scale up externally, but was still working fine after 10 years.
Very quiet compared to the Salamander it replaced. Obviously makes a little noise but inaudible at a distance unlike the other one. Come with easy to fit pipework.
I had a Bristan pump for the last 11 years which has just gone faulty. I replaced it with the new updated model and it is working very well and so much quieter than the old model.
This shower pump is excellent quality it’s powered by a Stuart Turner motor which is excellent quality.
Quite, efficient, good product. This was very easy to install, I didn’t need to get in a plumber. this pump is really quite, I would recommend it to anyone.
with a water tank in the loft and hot water tank in the bedroom there was not enough pressure to run the shower in the bathroom or even the downstairs shower.
The pump took minutes to fit, just cut a section of pipe out of the hot and cold supplies after turning the water off, brought longer 22mm flex push on hoses and pushed them on, plugged the pump in and job done.
Both showers have superb pressure now.
not to noisy, but no pump is quite, after a few days you do not notice it.
We installed the pomp in the attic and we don’t hear the pomp. The pressure is fantastic
Good pump, value for the money,
It’s a bit louder than the previous pump
Simple to install, greatly increased pressure feed to shower. Would recommend. Tried a cheaper Chinese pump first, which failed so came to this and never looked back
Although by no means silent, this pump runs fairly quiet in comparison to others I have had fitted. Would recommend.
Works well. Easy to install. Nice and quiet when running
I replaced my not so old salamander pump with this one the salamander pump stopped working put this one in so much quieter brillia
We have a gravity fed system set up with a tank in the loft which feeds both the cold and the hot water pressure, resulting in a poor water flow in the upstairs shower of 2 litres per minute. After fitting this pump on the shower hot and cold shower supplies the flow has been increased to around 8 litres per minute which has made a significant difference to the shower experience.
We previously tried a different smaller in-line pump on the hot feed, which increase the flow to around 4 litres per minute, which was an improvement but it was still disappointing, so that was returned.
Highly recommend this pump to get a strong water flow and excellent shower.
Tip: measure the water flow before and after, use a measuring jug and see how much water flows in 6 seconds, then multiply by 10 to get the litres per min!
We bought this to replace our previous Bristan pump.Very pleased with the performance, quiet and efficient.I would recommend the product ,a little pricey but worth the money.
Used to have a Salamander but it came to it’s last legs. The new pump is more powerful and quite a bit quieter which is brilliant. Did some research before and realised this is just a rebranded Stuart Turner (ST) which was the main brand recommended to me by my plumber friend. Got it for around 130 and it’s now up at 220 which says it all.
Excellent. Sorted out our low water pressure and have us a decent functioning shower.
I had lousy water pressure to my shower (balanced pressure on a Y plan hot water storage system)
I’m not a plumber but this was easy to fit, I had to buy longer hoses due to my setup but all in it stands me at 200 to fit myself but 200 well spent.
I mounted the pump in the loft on a board on top of insulation and it’s pretty quiet, I can’t hear it in the master bedroom (a modest sized house)
You know it’s on when in the shower but it’s not an annoying buzz or hum, just a subtle noise.
This pump has turned my shower from a poor excuse for getting a bit wet to a fantastic experience.
(The rainfall head pictured was useless previously, there wasn’t enough pressure in my system and it just stalled flowing up the outlet pipe with little or no water flow at all, now i can use this head and angle the flow.
All in all I’m very happy from delivery to ease of installation to the end users experience.
Only dilemma I have is do I buy another for my second shower I think so!!!
Good reply for a defunct pump. Working well and very quiet.
I dislike the fact that it doesn’t pump out double chocolate ice-cream, diamonds or even gold coins. Very disappointed in that regard! Could do better.
I used it as a shower pump.
That’s probably because it’s a shower pump and to use it as a lawnmower would have been silly and may not have yielded the expected results, though it could easily be modified…..
Who writes these questions?
Who answers them?!! Have these sad people got nothing better to do?
Who reads this nonsense anyway?
Joking aside, buy one if your bath or shower only trickles or takes your full 4 minute allotted E.U. Eco Carbon Credit Quota just to get wet, let alone soapy. (How can anyone have a proper shower in only 4 minutes? I must be doing something wrong. No, not that! I don’t take nail clippers and shampoo into the shower; I just want to wash and go!).
The pump is very fast, (probably a 2 pole 2880 rpm motor), powerful and fairly quiet depending on how it’s fitted but it’s not silent, then again, neither is your hair dryer and you don’t mind that. Unless you’re like me. (By the way, pay the small extra for one with ceramic motor bearings as the standard hairdryers all wear out after a few years and my red Babyliss Ceramic with integrated cable recoil has lasted about ten so far with no signs of packing in yet, touch plastic).
Back to the shower pump, the copious volumes of cool, refreshing water coming out of the spray head will make more noise hitting you in the earhole than the actual pump so it’s all about air in the pipes and isolation from vibration. Comprehensive fully English fitting instructions are included if rather small printy. Mine is connected by 19mm bore, flexible 22mm pipes and connectors, sat temporarily on a 2 inch bed of folded up foam rubber and you can buy pump mats though you’ve probably got something just as good around the house. There are 4 rubber feet but on chipboard flooring it’ll still be amplified. Try to place it on a joist but don’t screw it down. If you can place it on solid brick or concrete, then the feet will work just fine on their own but the pipes themselves will always be the main source of noise. The flexible hoses included say they shouldn’t be bent more than 30 degrees so bear that in mind. They will flex but they’re still fairly stiff. You can buy solid copper pipe with a helical rolled thread so it will hand-shape to fit a curve by the way, if you don’t have a pipe bender.
It’s a very well balanced unit so doesn’t want to walk or hop about and takes a 5 amp fuse, though the rating is actually 1.8 amps @ 420watts, 240v so a red 2 amp fuse would probably suffice. The instructions say it should only be used with an RCD and be wired directly into a mains switch but not on the immersion heater spur, which is fair enough. Mine is on a 3 pin plug for testing porpoises. If they like it, I’ll wire it in permanently!
So, how does it perform? Well, my non-pumped ‘gravity’ pressure would allow about a five or six inch fountain of water if I held the shower head upside down on full blast, both hot and cold together. The addition of a cheap pump raised this to about a foot, maybe even 18 inches and was a big improvement. This pump will hit the ceiling and is more than enough pressure. You’d probably want a 3, 3.5 or 4 bar pump for a tower wall unit with 5 massage jets on it but for a single head on a combined bath/shower tap, it’s perfect. Ironically, after 26 years of using hardly any water, I’ve just been switched to a metered supply!
I use mine with one of those clear, ‘ionic’ three pattern shower heads and it’s easy to start and stop flow with the push of a button. The pump quietly switches on and off automatically without hammering the pipes so you don’t have to turn the taps on and off between wetting and rinsing and can keep your temperature settings until you finish. Both the pump and on/off shower head are highly recommended!
My previous Salamander XT 85 pump has always been noisy but over the last few weeks the pump was making caveating noises. This new pump makes virtually no noise and has provides the same pressure. I believe this is a Bristan rebranded Stuart Turner showermate eco s2.0. Vast improvement on the salamander.
Fitted simply by a professional, but could probably have done it myself. Works well and a little quieter than the one it replaced. Only time will tell if it will last.
This is an upgrade as my previous pump (Duraspeed) failed after only a year.
Very impressed by the extra water pressure and how quiet it is.
Bought to replace an older faulty unit. Waiting to fit it, but looks good. Only minor gripe is the outlet and inlet are at different locations to what it is replacing meaning I have to make some alterations.
Compact, easy to install. Purchased to match the hot water pressure to that of our cold water mains and it’s done just that. It’s quiet too. When you consider that our home is noisy enough with two kids and a dog, in a real world situation you don’t tend to notice it.
More expensive than some other pumps on the market but quality, very quiet compared to our old watermill pump, flow could be a little stronger but works well
Bristan is a good company name, and their products seem as good as, or better than most others. This pump quickly kicks into action when a tap is opened, and turns off as quickly when tap is closed. Runs fairly quietly and gives several years of service, giving consistent pressure. These come in different head/pressure models.
Very good pump, easy to install and get up and running. When fitted with a temperature control valve makes it an ideal fixture.
Overall really pleased I swapped out the old pump for a Brista
I needed to add some power to a new sink tap. Cold water was fine but hot water trickled out. Did a lot o research to find the right pump that would not come on randomly and would work well when needed. There are a lot of cheap Chinese pumps but this works exactly as needed.
I received the item the same date as said the seller, and the item is the same as advertised with all parts, and the same colour. Now I am enjoying my shower like waterfall. All appliances connected to the pump are working perfect.
I am pleased with the product, and the services of the seller.
Thanks.
Bought it, was delivered next day, installed the same day, still using.
Works great, fixed my shower and got it finally working!
Simple to install, good price, prompt delivery. Seems very robust and works very well for my purpose.
I used this pump for the hot water supply to the kitchen sink. It is very quiet and has good pressure.
What a amazing pump .Connected up and can’t believe how quiet it runs .Easy to install .much better than the salamander pump I had before which was always a noisy pump
Only downside was I had to fit a plug
Good quality pump, used to boost hot water supply to en-suite shower, works very well.
Simple to install.
Easy to install. Mounted it on 4 rubber bobbins that are used to isolate vibration in cars. Very quiet. Produces excellent flow bath at my bath and basins.
quiet, not as powerful as we thought, but ok. Easy to plumb in. 🙂
excellent Quality and big value for money. it does work Perfect. easy to fit , very quite , must have
Bought to replace two previous ones which stopped working, these seem much better. They are quiet in use and give a powerful jet of water. Easy to fit to existing pipework with flexible hoses provided. Seem to be well made but time will tell how long they last. I have them in the loft so have constructed a box over them with insulation over it to protect them from freezing.
The old pump was a Salamander and it was quite noisy, but he says that this one here barely makes ANY noise and it works like a charm. Hopefully it’ll have a long life, only time will tell.
I can’t get into more details, that’s about all he has told me. He seemed very satisfied with this purchase.
Does exactly what it’s supposed to do and was relatively simple to install.
Made a huge difference to our shower pressure
Great replacement for a very old shower pump, compared to the old one this one is really quiet! Not silent but we can hear the water rushing through the pipes more than the motor.
This is a re badged Stuart Turner but at a fraction of the price.
Replacement for a Watermill pump. More powerful and much quieter, Took a while to prime it but it now works perfectly. The old pump could be heard all over the house, this Bristan is so quiet you can’t hear it outside of the cupboard I have it situated in.
This pump sorted out the lack pressure in my hot water system. It was quick to install and quiet in operation. I note that one reviewer complains about the lack of filters. Filters are not needed in applications where the water is clean to start with, ie it comes from the water company mains albeit stored in a tank in the loft.
It works fine, but doesn’t like too much back pressure. My hot had little pressure, so I installed the pump. My cold is mains fed. If you don’t have the hot running fast, it shuts off.
Easy fit and delivers good flow even with this base 1.5 bar model
initial delivery delay compensated by a weekend delivery in appalling weather.(still fast) this pump is extremely quiet in operatio
Bought this as a replacement, as the old Bristan broke down Works well so far, expects it to work well for many years.
Just had this fitted. Brilliant!! As for the price, cannot be beaten. My plumber couldn’t believe it!
great item very quiet has a lot of power I had a problem before with showers having low pressure that has rectified i
Very pleased. Easy to fit and quite quiet in operatio
Makes shower time enjoyable. Love the added pressure, very quite and easy to install.
Very good little pump, adequate for the job, value for money
Not as quiet as expected but does a great job.
Great little pump, easy to install and does exactly as advertised, there is noise from the pump however the noise from the water in the shower drowns this out I don’t see it as an issue
Great buy. I bought this to replace one from a different brand that failed after 15 months!!!
This one was slightly cheaper, runs much better & lot more quietly!!! Recommend!! Hope it lasts.
Reasonably easy to install. Easy to bleed up and most importantly quiet.
Exactly as described, very happy with purchase and it was delivered in two days. 100%.
