I ran this cable as future-proofing, since my Marantz AV8802A only supports 4K @ 60 Hz. I had run two other brands of copper cables that were “certified” for 8K but wouldn’t pass even 4K 60 Hz 444 HDR ARC. Very happy with these cables. Now I need to pull the previous cable and install this new cable. Note that these optical HDMI cables have source and destination directional markings and must be installed in the correct orientation.

    HDMI.org cert is genuine
works for at least 4k60, i don’t have an 8k60 or 4k120 display.
bought this for future proofing when i eventually upgrade.

Cable is highly robust, thick, sturdy and braided sheathe, probably just as good as more expensive alternatives

I got this cable because I have a long run between my tv and living room PC. I tried a cheaper cable that said it was HDMI 2.1, but it would only do 4k 60hz. This 30 ft cable is capable of doing 4K 120hz. LG C1 OLED and a 6900xt. Pricey but I would recommend.

I bought this cable ( 5m) to connect my PC (rtx 3080) to the tv ( LG C1).
I had some “certified” cables before ( 10m, 5 m) but the signal wasn’t always stable.

With this 5m optical cable everything works.
    Tested with 2 different PC ( rtx 3080 rtx 2060) and with a ps5.
    Working for 4k 120hz

    Highly recommended.

Be careful with length over 5m, a lot of people haw problem with stability with cables longer than that.

While our new home was being finished, I purchased a cheaper HDMI cable that stated was 4K HDR capable. At the time, only had a 1080p projector so could not test the cable. 2 years later I upgraded to a 4K projector and the cable could not do HDR. I ordered a second cheap cable that was “8K”. While it could do 4K HDR it could not do uncompressed chroma 4:4:4. That is why I bough this cable that is certified. Now I get 4K HDR at 60 Hz and 4:4:4 chroma. The cable is heafty and super well made much better than the other junk cables that can be bought for cheap. Wish I would have paid more at the beginning since now I have to have someone rerun this cable which will had another $150 bucks on.

Long story short, get this Cable Matters if you want to take full advantage of your video components. The extra cost now may save you money in the future.

I replaced another long HDMI cable which was only spec’d for 4K at 60Hz, but was about half the price. It was able to do 4K at 120Hz, but not without occasional black outs. This cable not only achieves 4K at 120Hz without issues, but is so much smaller in diameter and therefore light and flexible. Highly recommended!

I have verified that the cable does indeed support the bandwidth for 4k video at 120fps. Therefore I presume that it will also support 8k at 30fps. I am using the 32.8ft cable to connect my 3090 to a 75″ Samsung QN85 television.
My only concern is that the tv does not always detect the video signal when my pc comes out of sleep mode. I typically have to unplug the cable and reinsert it in order for the tv to detect the signal. I am not sure if this is caused by the tv or something else. I suspect that it has something to do with the signal being converted to fiber and back to copper. I’ll update my review after doing more research on this.

Seems to be working as it claims to be able to. I was able to connect my PC to my new LG OLED across the room and get a full 4K 120Hz signal, so I have no complaints. It’s expensive, sure.. but I suppose if you want to be able to run a setup similar to me with a little distance involved (over about 20-25 feet) this is the route you’ll have to take.
There are still some issues present, at least at the time of writing this, that makes these TVs a bit less convenient than running an actual PC monitor, but I did find some workarounds that helped.

    1) I was only getting 60Hz refresh rate and limited color settings when I first connected it. I knew I had to poke around a bit in Windows display settings to enable the 120Hz refresh rate, but the dropdown for it only listed the max of 60 when I tried. Under advanced settings, I had to go to “advanced display settings” and then “Display adapter properties for Display X”. Then, under the Monitor tab and in the dropdown menu under Monitor settings, I was able to select 120 Hertz. That did the trick for me.

    * As a side note, if you’re using a NVIDIA card, I think you can also solve this issue by opening the NVIDIA Control Panel and navigating to the Change resolution menu. By default it will be using “4k x 2k, 3840 x 2160 (native)” under Ultra HD, and you’ll want to scroll down in the available resolution options to find the ones listed under PC, then select “4096 x 2160”. That should allow you to select the 120Hz refresh rate next to that list, and also in Windows display settings. You may also want to change the default settings under option 3 here, but I suppose that’s entirely up to personal preference. I opted to change from default, to using NVIDIA color settings. I set 32-bit color depth, RGB color format, 10 bpc color depth, and full dynamic range.

** There’s also a chance you may also have to change your HDMI device settings within the TV menus as well. Navigate to LG’s Home Dashboard (press the home button on your remote) and select the three dot “hamburger” type menu on the top right of the screen to find Options, then select Edit > Edit Inputs. Find the HDMI port you plugged your PC into and select the icon to the left of grey bar with the port label, then find the PC option and select it. This seems to designate the port specifically for PC use and I believe it may be necessary to get you your 120Hz refresh rate and full 10-bit RGB color range. I’m not totally sure if it’s necessary, as I had changed that option when first setting up the TV initially in preparation for what I was planning to use it for, but it doesn’t hurt. Also helps you identify what is plugged into each port, which is nice.

    2) I have my PC monitors set to turn the screens off after 15 minutes of inactivity. Normally you can move the mouse or tap your keyboard to wake them up, but with the LG OLED now connected my displays no longer wake up. Instead all I see are black screens. That’s because the LG doesn’t do a standby mode, and instead fully powers off. The only way to get around this is to either unplug the HDMI cable on either end and reconnect, or to manually power on the TV to be able to wake your computer. Not the end of the world, but definitely an inconvenience. I wasn’t able to find any settings within the TV menus that helped me get around this issue, but I found a solution online that seems to be working pretty well.

I installed an app allows you to send a signal over your home network by reading Windows system events to know when to wake the TV when necessary. It’s a seemingly small and unnoticeable background application and has been working surprisingly well for a few days now. My TV will turn on with my computer if it isn’t on already, and I can wake my PC normally just like before.

If you google search “LGTVCompanion” you should be able to find a GitHub page with an app made by JPersson77. They’ve written up an amazingly well organized page complete with very detailed instructions on how to install and setup/test the app on your PC. I’d really recommend giving it a shot when you have a few minutes to spare.

I think that wraps up the couple of issues I ran into when getting all of this up and running as I’d like. Hopefully this information can help someone else out there as well.

    Best of luck!

    Works as expected

I got to know this product from HDMI.org blog that this is the first and only geniune certified Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 fiber cable in the market. I use it for gaming at 4K 120hz on my 65 inch LG OLED TV connected from my RTX 3090 FE graphic card. Without a question, although the difference is very small, you will notice the improvement on picture quality especially on these OLED display. 4K 120hz 12 bit HDR in full RGB with lossless True HD Dolby Atomos sound, no issue at all, I have been having issue with the sound gets cut out on my Dolby Atmos sound bar using regular certified HDMI 2.1 cable but after I swap it to this fiber cable, no more sound cut. This is the geniune cetified HDMI 2.1 cable and if anyone using OLED TV especially, you will see that color looks much better and will be free from any connection issues. If you are the person like me who is very sensitive when it comes to visual, and if you are experiencing some issues with current HDMI 2.1 cable, I strongly suggest you try this one, you will see an improvement.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersHello,

I do not write reviews but this one is much needed, since the wording in this listing makes one think the cable is manufactured by the lord himself but beware, this is hot garbage.

I gave it some slack since I first set it up with an LG B9 and Gigabyte RTX 3080 GPU both fully updated, the PC with the RTX 3080 in it is also fully up to date.

The cable worked somewhat ok for under 20 hours with random blinking of the screen and sometimes altogether staying at no signal, at which point I needed to physically unplug and re-plug the cable.

And by 20 hours I mean non-continuous hours, putting all usage time together I’d say this cable somewhat worked for close to three hours.

Before you question, yes, I know the cable is unidirectional and it has dedicated ends for source and display.

So long story short I was ready to think I needed to either return the TV or the GPU, but being a tech savvy individual I set to test it with known good devices first because you never know.

Tested the cable with three different PCs, of which only one had the HDMI 2.1 port, the others were either 2.0 or a different HDMI standard

Tested with four different TVs, of which only one had the HDMI 2.1 capability, other had older HDMI standard ports.

Did all combinations interchanging the TVs on each PC with the same results.

With each PC/TV combination had this cable and another known good HDMI cable, and every time when I plugged the cable from this listing(16.4ft) the TVs showed no signal and no amount of turning the devices off and on, nor fiddling with the settings helped.

With the exact same settingd this cable just failed to work with I plugged a different brand HDMI cable, the known good cable, and it worked.

At that point it is safe to state the issue was correctly 100% isolated to be caused by this cable.

And don’t get me started on Amazon’s lousy customer service, I had to wrestle the chat associates for a solution but the prepaid return label is not international, and since I live abroad this means that the cost of returning this cable far exceeds that of the cable itself. Yes, that means that not only I am told to follow policy or F off, now I got to keep this hot garbage good for nothing cable, and Amazon gets to keep my money, add to the waste the money out of my pocket to have the cable shipped from Miami to my location abroad by a 3rd party shipper, if this is no reason enough to never again buy on Amazon I don’t know what it is.

    EDIT dated December 22nd, 2021

Contacted the manufacturer directly, they sent me a replacement cable and were understanding of my situation allowing me to not return the defective cable, long story short I have received the replacement cable and have been using it for 3 weeks with 0 errors of any kind, it works as expected and my games run smoothly at 4k120fps now using Nvidia color settings / highest 32 bit / 12bpc / RGB.

G-sync does not work but that is to be blamed on LG.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersCable seems to be working perfect for my PS5 and my PC that has a 3090 in it. The PS5 is able to do HDR and 120fps (Used Nioh to test the FPS). There is no VRR support in the PS5 yet so I couldn’t test that. The 3090 is also able to do HDR, VRR and 120hz from my PC. The TV I am using is an LG C1 OLED.

I could have gotten by with the cheaper 25ft active cable that Cable Matters sells but I didn’t want to have to use microusb for power and that cable looks a lot thicker. I also liked that this cable is certified by the HDMI associated. It is probably the last HDMI cable I will need to buy for many, many years.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLange gesucht, viele gestestet und endlich fndig geworden.

This cable use optical fiber and active diode to achieve the stream of a UHD 120hz 10bits signal beyond 5 meters (10 meters in my case). This is the only way to stream this signal and Cable Metter does it well with an above average quality feel product.
And yes, it works well with an RTX 3XXX HDMI 2.1 graphic card connected to an LG 2019 C9 with HDMI 2.1 Input.

XBOX Problem.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUsing a Denon AVR, 30 feet from 4k 85 inch Samsung. Audio/Video and CEC work. The Samsung remote learned the codes for the Denon AVR for volume and power. Just streaming from Samsung apps. no cable box. So just the Samsung remote works just fine. Plus, Denon has an app. Both the TV and Denon are hardwired to the network.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis just works. I can now setup my system to output 4K 120fps with VRR. It looks gorgeous on my LG OLED C1. It also handles Dolby Atmos at the same time with no issues, the bandwidth is there.
I was only able to activate 10 bit color though, the 12 bit option disappears when you select 4K 120hz. I don’t know if that’s a driver, GPU or cable limitation, but it looks good enough for me.
Also the cable feels really well done, it’s somewhat thick and it feels solid. Great product for its price.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersFor over half a year now, I’ve been looking for a cable that allows my RTX 3090 to send a 4K/120hz/444/10 bit signal to my LG C9 using the new HDMI 2.1 protocol that the new consoles and GPUs support. My PC is far from my TV, so I needed something at least 10 meters.

After trying out multiple competing products that weren’t certified (and all of them having varying signal loss issues), I’m happy to say that 2+ weeks into owning this one I haven’t had a SINGLE issue.

The cable simply just works – since day one I’ve been able to send the full signal to my LG C9 without any audio/video distortions or dropouts. This is also certified by HDMI which should provide a higher level of consumer confidence. Also, the cable feels premium – the source and display ends don’t heat up nearly as much as cables from competing companies, and the cable is in a nice braided coating that gives it a premium look and feel while also coupling as nice protection for the cable.

If you own a TV that supports HDMI 2.1 and you need a long run cable that works with the full 48GBPS bandwidth, look no further.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersLong review short. I have tried numerous 4k 120hz 8k 60 cables from amazon. Last set was by basesailor which worked for less then 20 hours before the signal started flashing on and off. It was causing other issues as well like if the hdmi was plugged into my gpu when i turned my pc on all 4 of my screens would remain black untill the tv was unplugged. After purchasing these which i was kind of skeptical as only 1 review at the time and being one of the cheaper options for a cable this length i gave it a shot and i can say my setup appears to be running flawlessly with all 4 screens.

I wasn’t planning to spend $100+ on a cable, but I recently bought a gaming computer, and wanted to ensure no lag/latency in the signal to my TV, around 15ft away (seeing lag with my existing 10ft Monster high speed copper HDMI cable prompted this purchase). For 4K viewing, copper HDMI is acceptable to 10ft, but inadequate for gaming. After researching cables for a few hours, this was found to be the best choice for a 15ft transmission distance, and it should future-proof my wired connection. When I received the cable, I was relieved that it performs as expected (lag free) and feels like a $100 cable. Well done Cable Matters!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFr meinen Marantz SR8015 AV-Receiver habe ich alle HDMI-Kabel auf HDMI 2.1 (8K) umgestellt.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI just wanted to add that everything still working as it should at actual full 40-48 GBPS unlike a lot of other HDMI 2.1 cables out there. I’m glad they waited a little bit and released a cable that actually works.

The eARC setup is also working fine and they do have the new longer 45 ft cable.
    ______________________________________

The the source end stays about 93 F. I’ll be doing all my TV watching through the PC with the desktop at (4k-120Hz-444-12bit) for testing and see if all remains stable. Will also do some gaming. Need to test eARC.

The cables do look nice, have small end housings and are thinner than all my other HDMI cables but I would like to see a 5 year warranty. It’s one year and an extra year for registering. Many folks will want the longer cable for conduit runs and it would be good see the manufacturer offer the lifetime they do on some other products.

If these work out I’d love to see more lengths, like 25′ and 45′ and up.

Running at 4k-120Hz-444-12bit, good so far.
