Great drill. Well balanced, lightweight and compact. Great work light. My only slight negative is the excessive play between the battery and the drill body. But as long as it doesn’t affect performance and doesn’t get worse with use, it’s no big deal.
Powerful, can drill brick, concrete like my mains drill. Good battery. Feels solid. Heavy but not surprisingly. Useful led light, never thought one necessary but a convert now! A bit fiddly to tighten chuck as it’s so smooth but a great drill nonetheless
I can’t say if this is better or worse than any other brand of 18v 5ah tool but the DeWalt name makes me feel a little more secure then some of the other Mickey Mouse brands. I can recommend that 18v is a standard that should not be compromised, SO much better, all round, then any other lesser voltage tool I’ve owned.
I purchased this item for my son for Christmas 2021. He is delighted with it, however when he came to register the additional warranty, 28 days had lapsed from the date of purchase and they refused to honour the warranty. As I buy my Christmas presents a few weeks prior to the actual day of present giving, it was a shock to hear that Dewalt were so inflexible. So be aware, the clock is ticking from the day you purchase, don’t leave the box unopened.
Have had several drills,wish I bought this ages ago.
I have used this drill at my workplace for the last 4 years. Every day it has been as good as the first day that I used it. NEVER had any problem with it whatsoever!!! The battery that came with my unit is 5a/hr which is even better than the 4a/hr that I have used at work.

Good battery life, easy to use and value for money
The drill is powerful and well constructed and will drill through anything and be up to any job. It’s as good and as powerful as any plug in drill and I would recommend. The only down side is the battery is a loose fit but works brilliant. I had to send one back as the light didn’t work and the replacement had been used but that’s the seller not the drill it’s self.
Great drill, lots of power, 5amp battery lasts a long time.

The Drill is versatile, and easy to hold and use. It has pretty good torque for such a relatively small device.
Only minor points were that the battery is to my mind loose in as much as it can be moved about like a loose tooth, but remains in place. The other thing I noted was that the break on trigger release especially on position 2 sounds a little like gears on a car when the synchromesh doesn’t work properly sometimes, but I am told this is normal. The case is pretty good as well.
Other than that, it performs well, looks nice and I would buy one again.

This Drill is used at work and me Boss was really annoyed that I got one for 120.00 ! It really is the best all purpose Drill with excellent build quality, well balanced and ergonomic.
The 5ah battery is tremendous and will last for 2 or 3 working days under medium/heavy use.
I wish I had bought one 20 years ago.

Used by professionals for building projects. I bought this drill for home DIY Projects around the house and so far I am very happy with my purchase.
I haven’t bought a drill for some years but the batteries on the old one weren’t keeping their charge so thought it as time to invest in a new one and just wanted a basic drill with no fancy add ons. Really pleased with it. Powerful, easy to use and the light really helps.

This is a perfect all round drill with brushless motor. The battery last for months after full charge for small house jobs. It’s powerful and so far very pleased with my new toy.
So, great drill if you want to use a slightly lighter weight and duty drill than the DCD-996 we use with 2AH battery as well really good combination as light and transportable, ours came with the case 5AH battery and charger so well pleased

Pour ce qui est de l’lectro portatif 18V, Dewalt fait des outils trs puissants. Je suis extrmement satisfait de cette visseuse/foreuse. Je possde galement la boulonneuse choc et avec ces 2 l et 3 batteries je n’ai jamais de problme. Pour le forage, c’est trs bien pour des petits diamtres dans n’importe quel matriaux, mais pour des trous plus gros et profonds dans du bton par exemple,… videmment prenez une vrai foreuse de plus gros calibre. Mais pour mettre une cheville dans un mur pour fixer une tagre, aucun problme.
Genial, premier achat dans la gamme Dewlat, je ne regrettes pas. A la longue la batterie de 5A et un peut lourde, mais il suffit d’utiliser une 2A pour plus de legret.

Don’t be put off by the picture, you get the drill, a 5ah battery, battery charger and sturdy case in this order. A steal at the price. The drill is excellent with a little top heavy weight which helps keep the pressure where it’s needed. It’s very comfortable and not very at all heavy. The action is smooth and powerful. Despite some reviewers concerns about the chuck I found it works well with no wobble. It feels like two stages to grip the bit as there sounds like a click when gripping the bit tight then further ratchet like turns and the bit is secure. It’s very easy to use and would recommend to a novice DIYer or professional. I can’t comment about the battery life as I only received it this week but I expect it to be as good in quality as the drill itself.

Hello, This Dewalt DCD796 combi drill has good balance with good power easy to use I am very pleased with it so far. What Is disappointing there was a Three year Guarantee leaflet in with the drill I have tried to register for the three years but all I get is Error, Dewalt dont answer the phone or phone you when an operator is free I hope this service is better if there is any faults with the drill.

This is probably the best cordless drill I have owed over the years. Its powerful, the keyless chuck actually works and it came in a really nice case too.

First time I have paid anywhere near this for a drill but I am really pleased with it. First up I know nothing about drills but I liked the fact that this was sold as compact. It seems to have all the power required and the battery life was impressive. This was endorsed by a professional tradesman who opted to use it over his own range of power tools when he came to drill and screw some heavy duty garden panels to posts and construct a garden border from wooden sleepers. He was particularly impressed with its performance.

The batteries in my superb 8 year old Dewalt finally gave up the ghost, but not until after very hard use restoring 3 houses. Replacement Dewalt batteries are not to be had and replacement clones are useless (I’ve tried), so this new model with huge 5AH battery and coreless motor was ordered.
I’ve been using it a lot for 2 weeks now and it has far exceeded my expectations. I first charged the battery overnight for 8 hours and off we went. The battery has not been recharged yet and I’ve used it every day for the first week and every other day since. I added another battery, just a 2AH to keep me going when the big one is on charge.
Dewalt technology has progressed impressively since my first batch (combi drill, mains SDS drill and circular saw) and I have every confidence from my satisfactory working relationship with them.

Bought this as my old drill finally gave up.. this is so much better works most of the day on a 5amp battery. Nice to hold and control. I was expecting a quality drill as it was from De Walt and I wasn’t disappointed.

I drilled a few holes in the concrete to test the function of the hammer, I was shocked, if you need to make a hole, it will not disappoint you, and you will not stay long to do it, compared to a drill of concrete holes brand bosch, dewalt, was 2 seconds slower than that drill, and that’s shocking!
Best drill I’ve ever used. Great price with a 5AH battery. Powerful, no need for my electric drill anymore. So much control of speed with trigger. Beyond my expectations.
I’m a DIY novice and have always tried to get by with a cheap drill. Finally plucked up the courage to get a better one and this really fits the bill. It’s easy to use and has made putting up flat pack furniture a breeze. Highly recommend and worth getting the 32 piece screw set as well.
Got this for my birthday and with the 5.0ah battery it has made DIY a joy rather than a pain. Plenty of power to drill through masonry and longevity to not let me down in the middle of a task. The quick release chuck allows me to change between bits very quickly and it is nicely balanced in the hand. I thought the light was a bit of a gimmick until I had to do some work in a dark corner and it really helped.
Absolutely great quality drill. Not the cheapest on the market but you get what you pay for.

Fantastic drill. It’s the brand I always saw the guys use on site so I got one after trying the black and deckers and Bosch’s. This is miles ahead!
The only negative (and its a minor one) is that the forward/reverse switch on mine has a fair bit of play in it. I don’t know if this is a design issue, or if mine is sub standard.
Yes it is expensive to purchase but you get a rolls Royce of a drill.
it’s a good weight to hold and has a great bit of punch when drilling.
Battery life is absolutely brilliant and I keep thinking is going to die on me, no it just keep going.
I’m now going to look for a second spare battery and found one on Amazon that works off Bluetooth so no little fingers can play with the dill.
I’m definitely a converter to Dewalt and will continue to look at other products by Dewalt.
