Just what I wanted for a quick start to light my wood burner without scrabbling up newspaper etc. only need to used a couple as they smoulder for a while for the dried logs to catch.

These fire lighters work well. We are sufficiently impressed to sign up to subscribe and save and use a couple each night to get the kindling going in our woodburner. They are eco friendly and there is no odour. What else is there to say? Recommended.

Tired of the smelly firelighters, I gave these a go. Impressed at the ease of lighting. I use an electronic candle lighter. Only need one lighter for large woodburner and they do last about 8 minutes. I only need 4 small sticks of kindling to get a good blaze. Delighted

Great firefighters, easy to use, no smell and burn long enough to start my log burner, because they’re wax and wood they do smoke a bit though, but that’s the same for all of them and must still be better than all those chemicals in the dirty paraffin ones

Easy to use, fast lighting and reliable burn time make for easy starting of the wood burner. Only one or two needed for each fire so a box will last a good while.

Wrapped a few in small ziplock bags to keep in rucksacks for longer walks just in case of emergency or impromptu beach fire pit.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe have an open fire and I’m not the greatest at laying the fire, usually needing almost half a box of traditional firelighters to get it started. I purchased these Eco lighters, partly because I’m trying to eliminate chemicals from our house, my hands seem to smell of lighter even after washing, and partly out of pure curiosity.
The box said to use 2 lighters, I thought Really! but followed the instructions anyway. Amazing, I got the fire started with ease!! So not only have I reduced my use of nasties but I’m saving money and space too.
I’m a complete convert, give them a try you can buy a small 50 unit box to see if you like them, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

These are fantastic fire lights for our pizza oven nights and, more importantly, for keeping peace with my eco-conscious wife. She’s all about sustainability and reducing plastic waste, and these firelighters check all the right boxes for her.

First off, these are a dream for starting up our pizza oven. A few of these bad boys, and the oven is fired up and roaring ready to churn out pizzas like there’s no tomorrow.

As a bonus they’re as earth-friendly as it gets. No nasty chemicals or plastics, just pure, eco-loving goodness. It’s like they were made with my wife’s seal of approval in mind.

Sustainable, efficient, and perfect for firing up that pizza oven or BBQ — what more could you ask for?

As far as the straw based lighters go these are very good, my previous choice were the same but had a smell or Paraffin to them, so were kept in a Tin. These do not smell they do have something on them, and burn well and easy to light. Work as good as the normal wax based firelighters. I store them in a large biscuit tin which takes about 1/3 of the box of 200. good price for what you get. a well made option should you need them for these cold wintery nights

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersAfter trialling a small box of these natural firelighters in our new log burner, we went ahead and got this big box. Worked out this was far cheaper than the normal firelighters we used to buy, particularly as they have a longer burn I only have to use one to get the fire started. This means one box will last us all winter. Bonus.
Good quality firelighters compared to some smaller ones we have seen or ones that fall apart easily. The box was full to the brim.
Will definitely be recommending these to friends and family.
I really appreciate how these natural firelighters have no strong smell and are far less of a wprry should the dogs find one by accident.

This is a natural firelighter made with wood abs wax and burn for a long time in order to get the fire going well. One firelighter is enough to get the wood burner firelighters going if you stack everything well. They don’t have any smell so are a lot better than those paraffin bbq lighters (which I would never use).

Of course whether a fire will light or not depends mostly on what you’re burning and whether you’ve got a good draw. But I find these lighters last a good amount of time and are odourless (unlike some brands, which seem to be soaked in petrol or some similar volatile). Also, they catch from the match very easily.

  14. ShaynaLnprrkn says:

Overall these seem to be a good product, well made from wood and paraffin wax, with little crumbling or mess. I use two to light my woodburner with good success. My only small criticisms are that they vary in size and some of the firelighters are quite small, secondly they are a bit more expensive than similar lighters I can buy in my local supermarket.

Getting some in ready for winter I love them they are great for lighting my multi fuel stove whether it’s for logs or coal. Only 4 star instead of 5 because the price has crept up since I started using them and may need to look at alternatives.

I BBQ a lot and have always used egg boxes or paper in my chimney to light the coals. It makes a bit of mess but so what I thought. Then I tried these, they are so much easier and cleaner I’m a convert. They are odourless which backs up their claim to be natural i.e. no hint of petrol or the like. I started with a free sample when I bought something else then bought this big box to get the best value.

Recently had a log burner installed. Tried just using newspaper scrunched into balls to get the fire going with mixed success. We then tried traditional firelighters but although they did a better job of lighting a fire they spat and made a mess on the glass. Also, traditional fire lighters left a lasting smell of kerosene on the fingers.

In contrast the Ecoblaze lighters did an excellent job of getting a fire going because they burn for about 4-6 minutes, they don’t spit everywhere, they don’t make a mess on the log burner’s glass and they smell really pleasant and don’t make our fingers smell after touching them. It’s definitely better value for money to purchase the larger boxes of 200 which should hopefully last a whole winter. Will definitely purchase again.

New Home, open fireplace ……at last. Daughter bought these for their log burner and was surprised that you only need 1 to light the fire. so, i bought a box, and yes, you only need 1 to light a fire. loads in the box, they’re going to last for ages.

  21. Tsusho says:

I only use 3 to light my bbq / kamado, so the box has lasted ages and I bbq a lot. I have tried many different methods, mapp torch, chimney starter, kindling, fat wood etc. but these do the job perfectly and are easy to pack for camping. They do have a wax smell, but this disappears way before the coals are ready. Top of my bbq must haves and way better than those white blocks that stink!

Although I have used these before and know they are really good at getting our log burner going , hence repeat ordering, was very disappointed in the packaging this time. Opened packaging box which held the box containing the firelighters, lifted them out of that box only for it to give way at the base emptying all the firelighters everywhere.

These were recommended by a work colleague and I’ve had years of setting up the chimnea with newspaper sticks with success most of the time but on the bbq, often needed firelighters to get I fired up. I don’t like the smell or having to store these but they did the job. Now that I I found these, forget the paper sticks and the firelighters! From now on I’ll be using these, they’re great and you only need 2-3 to get either chimnea or bbq going. Just brilliant and happy with these little things. Yes they’re different sizes in the box but I think that’s a good thing as you can vary or topup as you see fit. I liked the little ones to pop at the edge of the charcoal if I needed it.

Had put off using products, as I’ve always believe newspaper was sufficient.

But I’ve run out of newspaper and actually, having tried similar firelighter products, I found they actually do a really good job.

Believing a firelighter is a firelighter, and they’re all the same, I ordered these. They have a seemingly waxy coating which the other ones I used did not. That waxy coating appears to melt and I believe this is what’s giving off a chemically odour. That said, it’s not parrafin-esque and it’s not bad, so I’ll quickly get over it.

I saw others complaining about the size of some of the lighters, so picked out a small one, and it did a perfectly fine job of lighting a Weber chimney.

1 for 1 in terms of success (and ease). I’ve 199 left, so let’s see how we get on.

  69. The Book Diva says:

Whilst these are really great and you get a lot for your money I did find them rather difficult to light. I’ve used another brand before which were easier. However once they did light they were excellent and made a superb barbecue!

We switched to these as we wanted to be eco and get away from the smell of the firelighters blocks we’d used previously. A little goes a long way with these, so a box does last a long time. The flames catch hold really quickly so they are very effective and there’s no mess and no smell. Rather than keep the box close by, we decant a few into a basket and it’s a nice display on the fireplace.

These eco firelighters are honestly great! Having always used old fashioned lighters I was sceptical at first, thinking a little twirl of wood shavings couldn’t be up to the job – but believe me, they are. As you can see in the video, you only need one, they light quickly and easily, have a long burn time that’s easily long enough to light a pile of kindling and they’re completely odour free. I know open fires and log burners aren’t exactly eco-friendly but using old kerosene based firelighters isn’t helping. These do the job just as well (if not better!) and great value for money – you only need to use one and a box seems to last all winter. Very very impressed!

    Hi

We needed to replenish our natural firefighters ready for winter , and I always buy the larger box , I came across this new brand which I decided to try , I received them today and as it’s been a little on the chilly side decided to light a fire , and I was was exceptionally pleased with them to be honest , they caught straight away , they are tightly wound , and packed well in the box , so I will most certainly will re-order this brand again .

In fact I will probably re-order straight away so I am nicely stocked up as I think we will be in a lot more over the winter period .

Did you know that the worst thing is to smell the fire starter in the meat?
I don’t like it either. All these chemical inventions are easy to use, but they stink for a long time. And taste not really nice.

That’s why I only use this. It has only a paraffin additive, it burns for a long time, so my briquette can catch fire quickly and after about a half an hour you can spread it on the grill and start baking.

Why briquette? Because it keeps the temperature uniform for a long time and I control fire outbreaks when fat drips onto the fire. The wood burns faster but is too violent and you have a lot of charred rather than baked parts.

I recommend this kindling lighter as a longtime barbecue user.

Bought to get a garden incinerator fire started, I wasn’t sure how many I would need. They look pretty weedy in terms of size, so I used about 6 of them. I reckon I over-did it by about 3 or 4. They are remarkably efficient/effective and easy to use. They don’t come with any fancy packing, function over form.

Take a flame very easily and burn for long enough to let the fire really take. They don’t smell bad and don’t produce lots of nasty smoke either.

All things considered,a really civilised way to start a fire.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersAnother reviewer complained that these fire lighters were small. They’re certainly about a third smaller than the ones I’ve been using. I only use one lighter to get a fire going in my wood burner with kiln dried logs, so for comparison I used only one of these first time around, thinking that perhaps two would be needed. Not so. These fire lighters burn well and one is more than enough to get the flames going. If anything they do the job more efficiently than my old ones. I like that they are UK produced too.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersDoes what it says on the tin! I got these specifically for use with my BBQ chimney starter as I got fed up using newspaper as fuel (especially the residue it left behind).
I had a go with these at this over the weekend and it lit up chimney after chimney of briquettes and lumpwood charcoal for the BBQ grill using these. I will be getting another box of these…no nauseous fumes or residue left in your coals of food.
