Not the be all and end all of cleaner’s. But is pretty decent. Issue with the auto empty bin to counter this tape over the inside of the one hole .
This is pretty much my new favourite thing. While the set-up took some figuring out, once it’s up and running, this is a very good bit of kit at a very reasonable price.
The bot itself is easy to run and clean, and picks up cat hair, litter, and dust really well with the sweeping arms. The mop is really only for a better clean – it won’t get rid of stains – but it’s good for our concrete floor. The sensors are very clever, and it’s only got stuck on wires once – as soon as I put a block in the app on that area, we’ve had no problems since, and I even ran it every day while we were out of the country on holiday and it started, cleaned, and returned to base with no issues.
It did struggle with our thick rug, which I’ve had to since mark off on the map, but works really well on regular carpets. Unlike past upright vacuums I’ve had no problems with hair tangling the brushes. The self-emptying charging station is also great for people with allergies, as it means you don’t need to empty the bin by hand.
The noise of the vacuum running is quieter than the average vacuum, but be prepared for it to get very loud when emptying the dustbin – it sounds like a plane taking off for about 30 seconds, so I wouldn’t run it overnight!
We have the charging dock set up downstairs, and it runs downstairs daily. Once a week I’ll manually take it upstairs and set it to run via the app. The app is very simple to use.
Would really recommend this vacuum to anyone considering a robot cleaner. It’s made a huge difference to the cleanliness of our house (three indoor cats!), and gives me one less thing to worry about with regards to cleaning.
I’m actually impressed at how well this vacuum cleans while being practically silent. The first time you start the unit, it maps the entire area. This is was extremely efficient and unlike other robot vacuums, plots an efficient path to minimize collisions. The mopping function leaves a bit to be desired however, for light cleaning of hard floors it works perfectly fine, but if you’re like me you will still manually mop a couple of times a week. Brilliant value!
Overall, I really like the Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum. It scans and navigates very well, vacuums very well, and runs quietly while doing so. With the Auto-Empty Station as part of it, and emptying the robot after a cleaning session, is really nice. Mopping is more hands-on in that you have to attach/un-attach the mopping pad and reservoir then wash the cloth pad. Its mopping ability is good, but is not a substitute for getting your hard surfaces really clean. It provides a good light cleaning beyond just vacuuming, so it’s good with that understanding — of course, this is true with most other mopping robot vacuums as well. Finally, the Ecovacs Deebot N8+ Robot Vacuum is a good addition to most any household.
Love it but waiting for our electric prices to go down x
Love the fact I can just set it off and my floors are all cleaned without any effort from us (except to tidy up and pick things up!) Mopping also works well.
The ability to schedule cleans is also great.
I love the little map it creates so you can see what has been done.
There are 4 different suction and mopping settings so it can be increased for particular rooms or different flooring.
Battery only lasts for 1 floor generally but as it has a docking station it will take itself back to charge and then carry on when it is full again.
It does a good job generally, the mopping function however is not the best as in it will clean but if the stain is already dry it could not come off. Overall I am satisfied with keeping the house to a decent level of cleanliness during the week days.
Very impressive robot vac. It’s actually quite astonishing how much muck it picks up!
Pros:
Quiet
Clever
Self emptying
Mop
Cons:
Dust collecter sometimes gets clogged and doesn’t empty
Won’t detect small items on the floor like cables (move them )
Overall couldn’t be happie
Had to get help from my nephew with the
“Set up”as Wi-Fi connection was a little tricky.
I am using the app for smart cleaning and am happy with the suction which is better
than my cordless vac!
I love that it empties itself!
I haven’t tried the”mopping yet ( bit nervous really) but will try it on my bathroom floor soon.
Love my new little vacuum. It took a bit of time setting it up, connecting with my phone and then mapping the house but got there eventually.
I’ve set it so that it does the downstairs once a day and in the kitchen it swaps to mop mode. I couldn’t figure out mapping two floors but downstairs is enough for now. I’ve set it up in the hallway in a corner so it’s not in the way.
I’ve only had it a couple weeks and haven’t emptied the compartment yet. Good buy if you have a bit of extra cash to spend.
This is my second time purchase of robotic vacuum and basically upgrading my older version to this newest one. My experience with this robotic vacuum has been excellent due to several factors which I will try to share here after an extensive use for past many weeks.
The battery life is excellent but most importantly this is managed itself by the robot vacuum as it does the cleaning round and returns back to the charging station. The cleaning rounds or intervals are all automated by me through the app so I dont need to manually call cleaning function.
The dust bin is of decent size given the size of vacuum cleaner but again it has the auto empty feature which automates functionality.
The vacuum manoeuvrability on its own is interesting one as it manages to avoid the collision and getting itself stuck in places so I did not have to release or free vacuum from any collision incidents and cleaning rounds has been completing on their own.
We love it. Once it has leant your space it is very effective at cleaning and much better than the cheaper random versions. This has some intelligence and can cope with some rugs but struggles with long shaggy versions (which is not a surprise ). Overall worth the investme
I’ve had this vacuum for a few months now and I have thoroughly enjoyed using it. I was slightly apprehensive about spending so much money on it, but overall, I think that it has been well worth the cost.
The positives are that once you setup your floor map, it is a real breeze to get the vacuum to hoover specific sections of a room, a specific room, or the whole floor. It has really good object avoidance as long as its over a certain height and isn’t cables.
It’s got super chunky and large wheels which allow it go to most places, the downside is that on carpet, it leaves these very distinct trails. Looks like the lines on a farm, but quite nice in telling me where its gone. The app also shows you where the vacuum has covered which is great.
Negatives: the mopping functionality isn’t the best. It’s able to avoid carpets which is great, but occasionally I’ll come back and there are bits that it’s just not been able to mop up.
The initial setup of the floor map was difficult. You cannot edit the map after the fact so you have to ensure the map is correct on your first go. It’ll occasionally get stuck and if you pick it up and move it, it’ll try and detect where it is (which is a nice feature). However, sometimes i’ll move it about 20 cm from where it was and it’ll think its on a completely new floor and start mapping the floor again.
The precision on the map vs actual is a bit misleading. It’s a hard thing to judge on the app and I have had to trial and error all the no go zones. The vacuum also seems to insist on a specific orientation. In my house, it’ll always travel east to west. This means that in the corridor that I have (east to west), it won’t travel along the corridor, but lots of zigzagging motions.
Overall, the negatives are things that I can live with. Having the ability to set the vacuum to autonomously vacuum the whole house has actually been a godsend. The auto-empty could be more effective, but having that and the charging station means I don’t need to mess with the vacuum for months.
I was highly impressed with my friend’s Ecovacs Deebot Vacuum Cleaner after seeing its performance when I stayed over a couple of months ago. Since then I have been trying to convince my husband to get one for our house. I finally got my wish and after the first time trying, I knew I should have bought one sooner!
Pet hair is always a problem and finding a vacuum that can overcome hair is definitely worth the money. This cleaner vacuums carpets and wooden floors very well. It does not operate on full power all the time but detects which floor surface is to be cleaned and adjusts suction accordingly. It is that smart! At maximum suction power it is powerful and the vacuum cleaner can reach places where you wouldn’t often clean. You can programme using the mapping function and the obstruction detection function works well also. App is easy to download and understand. It’s very adaptable and can climb reasonably small obstacles quite well.
The mop function works well considering the absence of any detergent.
Only slight improvement that could be made is with the auto emptying bin. The design prevents it from completely emptying and a little contents remain in robot. I found I had to manually clean the bin fully but only a minor gripe.
Overall a great piece of modern technology which saves me hours of home chores.
Like: Easy to setup; hassle free to run it daily.
Dislike: if you have multiple floor, you need to move the dock to the other floor as well. It would be a pain if you have 3 floors.
The mopping function isn’t very effective. Be expect to mop the floor by yourself once in a while to deep clean.
Small and cute.
Very useful.
It cleans my floor really well and I have a carpet floor.
It recognises its surroundings and very smart.
At the end of the clean, the robot knows to clean up a bag by itself too.
The remote you can connect to your phone app.
Overall really handy to have. It keeps my room clean. And my other floors clean.
Amazing vacuum cleaner, very reliable and you just need to periodically change the bay/filter.
Only thing I can fault is the mapping in the app. Very primitive, buggy and difficult to use. Some improvement suggestions for ECOVACS
1) Assistant integration, Alexa integration is fantastic with the ability to provide instructions to return to charge and clean specific rooms. Only if there was a way you could match this with Google home
2) Ability to put an external boundary on the map. The bit keeps mapping large areas outside my windows which skews the size of my map and over half of the map in the app is not in my actual home
3) Ability to restore/fix a map. Occasionally deebot misaligns the map and starts mapping new walls etc onto an existing map in a new position when they are already mapped!
4) Ability to reset parts of the map. A room on my map is incomplete so can’t define the area as a room. There is no way to fix this without remapping the whole area again. Remapping is a lot of effort and after remapping many times because of 1) I am fed up.
5) Ability to stop the bot climbing over ledges. My always tries to climb over my table legs which have flat parts on the floor and gets stuck trying to get back over. I
6) Ability to schedule empty dustbin tasks. Only problem with running at night is the noise it makes when emptying the dustbin. Don’t want to turn this off because that means manually triggering the bin emptying.
Very impressed having 2 large German shepherds. Use this every day with Dyson v11.
Really good at keeping the house clean but I have two dogs and it can’t empty the hair out into the main unit so I have to do this manually most days. I’ve split the cleaning schedules so it returns to get emptied more often but it still get blocked most days.
Ecovacs deebot n8 + is ideal for our busy family. It exceeds my expectation in terms of cleaning. We have only hard floors so can not comment on the carpets cleaning but we only use lowest power and it is great. We also have fairly open plan downstairs so it has lots of room to wonder around. I love it!
Setup: Very easy and nearly plug and play. I had to attach the brushes and mop head before use, fill the mop compartment with water, once done it was ready to go.
Suction power: there are 3 modes, standard, max and max plus. Standard is quiet, max you hear a power increase and again with max plus. Standard to be honest did a great after a messy boxing day clean up. I was able to put it in an auto suction mode or manual, I chose auto so it adjusts power when needed.
I have the self emptying, blimey that dock is powerful and loud as it collects all the dirt from the hoover.
Battery Life: had it cleaning for 25 mins for over 17 squared metres and it hadn’t reached half battery either. Very impressed with the battery.
Collision: really good tech here, it doesn’t continously bump, once the bumpers feel any pressure going in it stops, detects, figures it out and continues. Literally a gentle tap and then no more tapping just cleaning.
App: Mapping is great and so accurate everyone was amazed. I do feel the app could improve in regards to user navigation and it would have been nice to have an option to choose mop or hoover where as it does both
To my understanding once zones are established you can mark if this room is hoover only or mop only or mop and hoover but I haven’t tried this ye
Haven’t got much to say other than it is a great product. Has been in use over the last couple of weeks and has made our lives so much easier.
Generally very pleased with this, easy to set up, found wi fi, and mapped my downstairs very well. Does a good job, hoovers well, increases suction on rugs, not too noisy most of the time it does get louder as it does carpets, and as it empties its dust container its very loud, but only for a few seconds. This though is where it has a problem, we have pets and it picks up hair well but most of the time the hair won’t empty automatically so I have to manually empty dust container, which isn’t hard to do but obviously it should do this itself. I have a fairly large downstairs area with mainly laminate flooring with some rugs it does whole downstairs on one charge, and finds its Dock to recharge. The other problem for me is the mopping, I’ve only tried it once but with the mop attached although it knows where the carpets are it seems to keep getting stuck on them which it doesn’t do when vacuuming only, it’s supposed to avoid the carpets when mopping. It takes about an hour to hoover about 55 Square meters, but because you just let it get on with it that’s no problem, I normally set it off then walk round and pick up anything that may cause it a problem then leave it to it, the app keeps you informed with its progress and you can vac the whole downstairs or just a targeted area and you can tell it to avoid a certain area. Even with the faults mentioned I am very pleased with it.
Like the multi-map function, if you live in house. It’s auto cleaning station also very good.
Wow. This is so much better than I expected. It vacuums better than our Henry, and it mops our kitchen floor better than the dedicated (and expensive) Bissel Crosswave which just leaves streaks of dirty water everywhere.
Excellent at navigation and suction power (hoovering).
Okay with mopping but considering that it just scoots around with a wet cloth underneath, you have to keep your expectations low for mopping. It is okay, nice to have that option, but not for those with the OCD ;)!
Overall the robot is excellent. The house is noticeably cleaner now. The robot is very persistent in cleaning and doesn’t miss any areas. The algorithm for navigation seems very clever in this regard and the outcome is always perfect so far!
Battery life is okay it does use up the battery very fast on the high power hoover setting, but then considering that it can recharge and resume the work, it wouldn’t be a bit deal (because you can schedule the task overnight and it will get it done).
Slight negative: Adding second floor is a bit of a hassle (you have to move the docking station to the second floor and then start a cleaning cycle – not sure why this is necessary since the robot builds the entire map even without the docking station, but it just refuses to save it unless it finds the docking station on the floor – a bit strange (because once mapped, you wouldn’t move the docking station up and down every time anyway). So, I thought I’d knock off one star for this… probably more like half a star to be fair.
Overall very pleased with it. I’d rate it 4.5 star!
Depending on suction level battery varies obviously. When used in full capacity it lasts about 30minutes. I was expecting to be better than this.
The cleaner is really good. – very easy to setup.
Arrived almost ready to go, you just need to attach the brushes at the front which are actually replaceable. The automatic emptying feature is brilliant. I have mine upstairs and cleans the bedrooms and study room very well on mix of carpets and rugs without problem.
Arrived almost ready to go, you just need to attach the brushes at the front which are actually replaceable. The automatic emptying feature is brilliant. The empty station makes it a bit bigger but I think it’s definitely worth it.
In my opinion the best part is that it will do a timed clean each day – keeping on top of cleaning up. I also like that it can get under beds and sofas – so good! Recommend this if you’re looking for an automatic vac cleaner.
Since I tried a robot with a dust collecting tank, I decided to go with this function forever! The auto dust collection function is so convenient and hands free. The ecovacs is a brand that I used its different products for years. Very glad I found this on Amazon.
This is not my first robot vacuum, it’s not even my first DEEBOT. I bought this as an upgrade for an older model I bought around 6 months ago which didn’t include an auto-empty station.
During its initial clean, I immediately noticed many of the upgrades and differences compared to my previous robot vacuum. For starters, the DEEBOT is much quieter than my last vacuum, even on a higher suction setting, and still had as good, or better, suction power. Also, because of the enhanced navigation and mapping technology, the DEEBOT hugged corners around my walls and furniture.
The mopping feature also works great, it just hasn’t been something I have used too much. If you intend to use your N8 to mop, make sure the auto-empty station is located on hard floors, preferably hard floors that go through the house. The N8 avoids carpets if the mopping plate is installed.
In my opinion and comparing my experiences with some well-known previous model robot vacuums, the ECOVACS DEEBOT N8+ is easily the best robot vacuum I have had. It has everything you would need built into one machine and would recommend it to anyone in the market for a robot vacuum that does it all.
I was a fairly early adopter to the robot vacuum craze – we started off with a dumb “bump’n’go” robot in the early days, that just bashed it’s way around the room doing some cleaning as it went. It was a revelation then about 4 1/2 years ago when we upgraded to a Xiaomi Mi with laser mapping, and no longer was the robot randomly crashing around the room but now using intelligent mapping to actually avoid obstacles and make sure every part of the room is covered.
As much as we loved the Xiaomi things had moved on in terms of technology, and we needed one that could mop our kitchen floor as well. We have a modest 3 bedroom house but with both of us working and a 12 year old in the house have become so used to our little robot friend taking care of the hoovering that it was time to invest in one that did the mopping too, so about 4 months or so ago we got the Ecovacs N8. That was fantastic – it handled the vacuuming brilliantly, with more power than the Xiaomi, and whilst the mopping isn’t perfect it does a very decent job of it (good enough that instead of mopping our kitchen by hand every few days we only do it once a month if that as the Ecovac has done the hard work for us).
The only issue we had with the N8 was the dust collection part is a little smaller than we are used to , and it needed emptying on a regular basis. If you’ve had new carpets in the last 12 months you’ll understand that tends to fill the rather little tray up very quickly as there’s still bits of fluff coming up each time we vacuum. We had thought about the N8+ at the time but decided it was too costly for us then – however after living with it for a few months we bit the bullet and went for the N8+ with the self-emptying station. The plan was to sell the N8 on ebay but I suspect we will now end up keeping that for upstairs.
So everything on the robot part is identical to the standard N8, just this one has the self-empty station combined with the dock. It’s a joy to watch this in action, and the way it bags the dust up is very well designed but a warning – the process is quite loud as it sucks the rubbish up into the bag. . The only slight catch I can see is the price of the replacement bags, which I’m afraid aren’t cheap – the official ones are expensive on Amazon but I was able to buy a pack of 9 for under 10 from China which is quite a price difference if you can wait a couple of weeks for delivery.
When it comes to vacuuming this has a whopping 2300Pa of suction power (this compared to 1600-1800 on our previous one, the Xiaomi) and the hoovering part is absolutely flawless. It won’t use full power all the time but instead detects carpets and hard floors and switches power up and down accordingly. The mopping isn’t quite up to the same level, but I believe that’s true of all the others on the market too. There’s a small water tank on the front, and like the N8 it’ll use 4 different levels of mopping power. It does a good job of removing any surface grime but it’s not a true replacement for getting the old Vileda Supermop and Flash out for a proper hand mop I’m afraid, but I don’t think any of the others out there are either.
The Ecovacs home app is, on Android anyway as I’ve not tried the iOS one, really good and gives you full control over the Ozmo N8+ and lets you take full control of the mapping, scheduled cleans etc but the vacuum can be used without it if you wish. It also integrates with Google Home and Alexa, and I use the later to control it without any issues.
Charging takes about 4 hours from completely flat to full, but in reality that never happens for us – the battery is able to cope with our 3 bedroom house and still has absolutely loads of power left, so unless your house is huge that won’t be an issue (and if it is it will go back to the dock, charge and carry on).
At the end of the day this is still a lot of money for a vacuum cleaner but compared to the others on the market we looked at it’s a lot better value when you think you are getting proper laser based floor mapping (with multi-floor support) and automatic carpet/hard floor detection etc., plus of course the self-emptying feature. We love our N8 and this one, with the self-emptying, has taken it even higher in our estimation. All I need now is for them to invent a way for the self-emptying station to empty itself into the bin and my life will be complete!
Bought this because we have a Labrador, we were continually hoovering to pick up hair, we set the deebot off twice a day, this has made a massive difference to the floors the mopping is ok for a quick go over but don’t expect too much it doesn’t scrub, highly recommend
I first had a robotic vacuum several years ago, when they first appeared and despite the novelty value, it was pretty useless. It spun around in random circles and didn’t do a very good job at all. The waste collector was tiny and not fit for purpose and it was always having to return to recharge. This machine is different. Very different. It does a really good job. My entire ground floor is either tiled or wood and I leave it in mopping mode and use it daily and it does a very good job. A surprisingly good job! I’ve set it to extra water flow but with standard suction and it looks like it does when it’s manually mopped. I am astonished! The base station lives on the ground floor and it’s all mapped beautifully but we have two more floors so it’s unable to store these as it keeps over writing them. This really isn’t a problem though. I take it up to either of the upper floors and after some deliberation it declares itself to be ‘in a new environment’ and starts cleaning. The upper floors are carpeted in fairly new carpet and it need manually emptying as there is so much compressed fluff. I tend to do one room at a time. This might sound like a faff but it does a remarkable job, probably better than my Henry! Of course, due to geometrics it can’t vacuum into the corners but it’s not much of a problem to hoover those as you clean the stairs. Like Daleks, it can’t manage them, although it doesn’t throw itself down them either. During this developmental stage, these machines are always getting better but I think this works well enough to buy it. It has completely surpassed my expectations and no, I haven’t been paid to write this (unfortunately :))
I love the robot, it’s so good. Wife finally broke me into getting one (we needed a new Hoover) and honestly – the house has never been easier to clean. We run it upstairs weekly and downstairs as and when. The targeted cleaning means we can get the hot spots done almost daily (why not!).
We have a cat that sheds and my wife drops so much hair, a mix of hard and carpet floors and rugs. The Deebot deals with them all!
Don’t hesitate – go for it!
I was sceptical when I wanted to buy a robotic cleaner, but was really pleased that I did buy this. It really helped me with my housework enormously! It is smart enough to not drop to stairs and is able to send me alert. This is the first time I am writing a product review because I really think this is great help to those who are too busy to clean.
We’ve been running this for a few months now and overall were really happy with it (we’re fighting with our temptations to buy another N8 for the second floor of the house). HOWEVER there are some flaws I need to point out
The app… We have Android Note phones and the app is pretty unreliable… It fails to load up properly and will often need a swipe up and delete to load.
Home assistant integration is a bit… Meh. You need to connect it using HACS and the API is a bit of guess work to get it to connect. When you do all of this it will often not report the right status for what it’s doing right at that moment… We’re looking to auto trigger room cleaming based on activity detected in a specific room. This heavily relies on knowing what the vac is up to and to not have that is annoying. We’ve opted for a WiFi plug with power monitoring to better capture states were interested in.
Then there the auto empty base…. The exit holes are too small and if you have a full bin then you’re mamhally emptying it. but it’s also super loud! We have a hypersensitive child who would freak out if he knew what it was like… We have therefore had to limit its use to manual which is ok but I’d rather it was quieter it at least easier to trigger via the API.
I purchased this in Aug 2021 and have been using it in my new home for a week already. My home is a single-floored 800 square feet apartment with a mix of hardwood and carpeted floor.
PROS:
– Strong suction power, which could also be a blessing in disguise, see the last point in CONS.
– Great mopping design. The cleaning cloth is easy to take off for cleaning.
– Good map learning capability, the drawing is very accurate and I was able to draw boundaries or label rooms easily.
– Very customizable, the mobile app can set, enable or disable features.
CONS:
– Setting up the robot using the mobile app was straightforward, however it took me an hour as my building provides the Glide’s WIFI which requires logging in via a portal. I had to call the customer service to whitelist the manufacturer and the device’s MAC address. For a normal consumer it should be way easier.
– The robot gets stuck occasionally when crossing stands that have a similar width as the robot, but it would call for help immediately via its speaker and mobile app notification.
– Not able to set suction power per labelled room.
– The suction power is way too strong for my newly carpeted floor. The robot would suck up and get filled up with the carpet’s peas, and the station’s auto-vacuuming is unable to clear the dust compartment as the carpet’s peas is vacuumed into one big ball of mess. Thankfully after disabling the auto-boot suction setting, it can maintain the standard suction power which helped significantly, but I am still seeing lumps of carpet peas after every cleaning which I hope will get better as days go by.
Easy to set up and runs during the night. Come down to a vacuumed clean house, well downstairs. Great how it knows rugs or hard floor. It struggled with tables and chairs but so easy to block that area off on the map. Mopping good too. With two dogs it is a big bonus.
So far delighted with it.
so far very good, cleans and mops the floor, not too loud
I purchased this to replace a broken Neat d7 and what a difference! The deebot is so much quieter and cleans much better, even sensing when moving from a hard floor to a carpet or rug and turning the suction power up automatically. The app is easy to used and much more flexible than the neato one. The other big bonus is it is much more gentle when approaching objects, the self emptying works well and so far I’ve not had any issues with it. Over all I’m very impressed and would recommend it.
Update. Now I’ve had the deebot for a while I thought I’d add an update.
We are still very impressed with the cleaning and navigation (particularly good at picking up pet hair). The flexibility of the mapping and ability to select a sub set of rooms to clean is very useful. Whilst I didn’t buy this as a mop the functionality is useful, however it is only capable of a very light clean as all it does is effectively drag a dampened cloth accross the floor (no scrubbing action) but it does a surprisingly good job on the Karndean floor in our kitchen living off light stains such as tea or coffee drips. My the only negative I would say is the app could do with some work, Firsty there is no iPad version, and secondly the front screen that tells you the battery level doesn’t update unless you quit the app and re-start it the map has the same issue it updates the robot position but the track of where its been isn’t updated without restarting the app. However, these are minor inconveniences compared to some of the excellent functionality (eg you can specify some rooms to clean twice or with a different vacuum power or amount of water on the mop if they are more prone to be particularly dirty).
Very easy to set up with the app. Had it working on the first mapping in a few minutes.
alright, we all know how overwhelming it is to do some research when buying a product that’s not cheap and it’s meant to last. I came to the conclusion that many things don’t have an undisputed-best-of-all-product, and robots cleaners are no different. however, the main reasons I picked this one are:
– fully automated, you don’t have to worry about cleaning it regularly and the auto-empty dust bin is a must, in my opinion.
– it looks good, and it’s not that noisy.
– the app ux isn’t amazing, but you can configure a lot – eg: how many times to clean a specific room, no-go zones, when to clean the whole house/certain areas, etc. also it keeps track of the progress and it truly maps the house.
– the mop function is also good, you just have to fill the tank with a bit of (preferably filtered) water and it does a good job. when the mop is attached it doesn’t go on the carpet, but since I’d rather have the carpet vacuumed daily, I just don’t really use the mop function anymore.
– if you’re overwhelmed, tired of watching many youtube videos, just get this one. I’m pretty sure you’ll like it.
Very good product , time saver cleaning more better then other vacuums , but it’s expensive.
I tried a cheap robo-vac a few years ago (don’t recall the make) and sent it back the next day. It clearly had no internal map and – aside from freaking my dog out (a worthwhile feature) – it seemed to want to return to the same part of the house and clean it to within an inch of its life, whilst ignoring the rest of the floor.
Enter the Deeboot N8+ – swiftly renamed the Saratron 2000, to keep my housekeeper Sarah on her toes – and a sea change in design and function.
Easy to set up, it maps the area with a combination of Lidar and bumping into stuff. It cleans superbly – you can tell it to clean one particular area – and, best of all, it empties its load into a hopper in the charging station when it has finished. This means you only have to empty the hoover about once a month (and that’s with two short haired dogs that shed all year round).
I haven’t used the wet mop function yet, simply because I haven’t needed to.
I bought a second charging station (just a recharger – no waste hopper) for about 30. This was extraordinarily difficult to get hold of – in fact I ended up buying it from French Amazon. I have this installed upstairs, so I only need to carry the robot itself up there. It quickly recognised it would have to remap; did so; cleaned the entire upstairs. Each time I move it the vac says “Checking location” or something, as it identifies which floor it is on, then gets on with the job.
Don’t leave cables draped on a floor you’ve asked it to clean, or the edge of a duvet, as both of these have caused it to stop and ask for assistance.
Yes, it’s a lot of money – but with this type of device you really do get what you pay for. I therefore consider it good value – as it has made my life (and that of my housekeeper) considerably easier. As a bonus, it continues to worry my dogs…
The Ecovacs DEEBOT N8+ is the bees knees of robot vacuums. It has it all, it’s both a vacuum and a mop, it has fall protection, carpet dectection, multi floor mapping (an essential for me as the house is staggered on four levels and virtual boundaries.
It connects to your WiFi and can be controlled via a phone app or your smart home system and it comes with an extended 2 year warranty for complete peace of mind.
Now it is expensive and a little bit of an investment but if your someone like me who just doesn’t have time to do the vacuuming, it’s worth every penny. The robot can be set on a schedule during the night so you never have to see it working or you cantrigger and control it from the app if you spill.
The great thing about this model is the bin self empties the robot, so that where you typically would have had to empty 1-2 times per week, you now only need to empty it once a month or less depending on use.
The device is amazing, watching it is fascinating, I love the fact it can mop the kitchen too and I really think it’s a great value for money device.
I like the autonomous cleaning power, auto carpet detection and intelligent behaviour. First it will vacuum around the edges of the room, then it will finish the rest with an intelligent pattern. It’s also capable of remembering multiple floors … I just need to figure out how to switch the robot from one to the next floor.
Vacuum does its job and mapping is most important.it does when it’s first use and let it finish your whole house and after finish it will come back on charge Dock.than it gives you a option save a your house map.after that all in your control.you can select individual room where it Need a clean.best thing do mopping manually once a week and whole week rest in peace…
I’ve had a few Robovacs in the past, including Eufy and Roomba, but this is my first premium robovac. It was daunting to dive into spending this much but I was just becoming increasingly frustrated with robovacs that just navigated by bouncing off walls, missing spots, going in circles, or saying they were ‘stuck on a cliff’ when transitioning off of a rug.
After sending Deebot off on his first map of the house, I could tell this robovac was the one. I was so impressed by how quickly it mapped out the place with its many sensors, and how ‘human’ it behaved when working around obstacles.
I’ve had this now for a few weeks and, although I am still figuring out some weird things with getting multiple floors working, it has been flawless. Never getting stuck, cleaning efficiently, and every now and then I’ll send it off on a mopping job which still amazes me it can do.
The auto empty bin is an additional luxury I never knew I needed but it helps keep the filters clean, saves me loads of time, and is just one less thing to worry about. I’ve pretty much run it daily and it’s still not even close to full.
I don’t know if I’d have been able to convince myself to spend 600 on it, but during prime day it went down to an exceptional price (sub 500 if I remember correctly) so I jumped on the opportunity.
I’d been thinking about getting one of these for a while, but they’re quite pricey so wanted to be sure I purchased one that was functional rather than gimmicky. I’ve had this for a 6 months now, and it has been a life changing item.
It’s really helping me to keep on top of the dog hair and grit, and it even manages to clean between some irritating crevices in the kitchen, and its whispy brushes seem to be getting underneath the kickboards and skirting boards, which is really handy. Also it circles chair and table legs and removes the fluff that tends to gather there.
The mop is doing a pretty good job of keeping the floors clean. Although you cannot use a cleaning fluid in the water tank; it’s water only. It does the job though, especially because every room can now be mopped on a daily basis while I get on with something else.
Due to its circular design, it cannot vaccum into the very corners of the room, but I don’t mind cleaning a few corners every now and then.
I’ve also noted that it does omit to mop the very edges of a room because the mop is on the back, and it runs sideways along the edges.
Navigation wise, it seems to take pretty logical routes. Its collision detection is good; mostly it detects obstacles and gently approaches them, and when it does knock into things, its bumper flexes. It harasses the dogs, but hasn’t run into them yet!
On auto mode it chooses to do most of the rooms on the lowest suction, and that’s absolutely fine. It’s very quiet when working. As, I think others have mentioned, when it empties into the dock, it’s very loud! But you can turn off auto-empty and just empty into the dock at a convenient time.
It does have times when it gets really confused about where it’s going. It usually manages to right itself. Something which I guess is a limitation of LIDAR technology is that it gets very confused when strips of sunlight are projected through doors and windows and treats the sunlight as physical barriers.
Overall feel much more on top of the housework these days; a great buy!
Very pleased the carpets look like new. Deebot has managed the fur from my 2 very fluffy cats. The self emptying bin is also worth it. I’m glad I waited and got this all in one machine. Links well with Alexa. Thoroughly recommend. The cats have got used to it now and follow around.. Go on buy one now!
Very easy to use and effective on carpet and floor. No issues in the limited time that I have used it for, shall keep it updated here in case I face any issue. Highly recommended.
It’s been just a week of using, and the bumper keeps on getting stuck. The mopping part detaches itself now and then and it’s quite unreliable.
I’ve reached out to the customer service (Amazon UK) but they can only offer refund, which I can’t take as it’s about 100 more expensive now. Deebot isn’t offering replacement, however. I can’t recommend this robot unless you want a gimmick that might fail with multiple variations.
Update: The customer support was immensely useful and arranged a replacement unit within a couple of days. Thanks.
Absolute game changer!
Set this bad boy off at night, come down to a freshly vacuumed floor everyday and it even emptied itself!
Bought this on Prime day and we didn’t expect much more than your typical semi-capable robot vacuum but we we’re so wrong.
This thing is amazing at navigating and really shocked us at how advanced these little things have become. I half expected poor suction used for light dusting of the floors but the actual suction is incredible. We run this daily at 7am before we get out of bed and it get arounds our whole apartment minus the bedroom within 45 minutes. Does a fantastic job.
I do remove the hairs from the brush every few days which ensures its working well but this takes seconds using the cutter included within the vacuum.
The mopping is shockingly good too, I was expecting a light wipe but it really does do a grand job at cleaning the hard floors and they look fantastic afterwards too. It comes with 10 disposable floor wipes but I rewash them a few times before discarding.
The app is easy to use, had no issues thus far, its never failed yet or gotten stuck. I’ve had friends around who have assured me it would get stuck under our table or on wires and nope, zero issues.
It doesn’t seem to play too nicely with alexa, you can only refer to it as DEEBOT within alexa, not the custom name… but once you have a schedule set up, it just does its thing automatically and we couldn’t be happier.
If this lasts more than a couple of years, it’ll go down as one of the best purchases I’ve made. I’m truly impressed as how great of a job it does without any need to help it. It’s pricey but the time it’s already saved us and the nicety of having clean floors (we have a dog) really make sit worth it.
Highly recommend.
Also, set up was incredibly easy. It asks for 1.5m clearance in front of the auto-empty station and 0.5m each side but we’ve put it under a unit with 0.2m each side and a 1m frontal clearance, so far, no problems.
Always wanted a robot vacuum but have also always been put off by the prices of them. Then prime day came around I had a look at my options, I wanted a vacuum with a self emptying dust bin and some kind o mapping technology. I’d seen plenty of reviews for the Ecovacs N8+ and N8+ Pro.
As far as I can tell the only difference between these two models if the fact that the N8+ Pro has a camera and some kind of laser mapping on the front of the unit for better object/obstacle detection this is also the case for the T8+ Pro but as of yet I haven’t been able to find a combination of the N8 Pro with the bin (+) or the T8 with the bin either.
So seen as this was the only option available on amazon at the time I decided to bite the bullet, thinking that due to the delivery times I would also have an extra 2 days to decide to cancel if I felt some kind of buyers remorse. Thankfully even despite the 500 price tag, the other half was excited to try it too.
Because we were constantly following it around first time, the initial map of the house didn’t turn out quite so well, so we had to delete and remapp the house.
Either way, after making sure cables and things were out of the way and as much clutter was cleared off the floor as possible we’ve been really surprised at gow well the vacuum performs.
We normally only vacuum the house twice a week as there isn’t much dirt to notice and things keep fairly clean even so after running the ecovacs round the home just once we were disgusted by how much dirt it picked up!
We can call the ecovacs from our phones via Google assistant to come and clear up mess on the floors after cooking, after the cat knocks litter out from the tray in the bathroom etc. And we schedule it to go around the home at least once a day.
It’s been brilliant to use so far and if you have the money spare I’d definetly say it’s a worth while investment. Although on a side note we do live in a single storey bungalow and so the entire house is easily accessible for the robot so bearing that in mind houses with two floors you’ll have to move the robot manually and it won’t be able to vacuum the stairs. Besides that there are also going to be some small crevices that the robot won’t be able to access that need hoovering once a month or so, hence I would use it in conjunction with a regular vacuum.
I can imaging it saving a lot of hassle in a full house with kids too as it’s one less chore to have to deal with.
Mopping pad is a little lack luster, it’s probably going to have some issues with hard bits like dried pet food etc but after a few runs over I imagine it being OK
One of the best gadgets I’ve bought.
This vacuums the carpet and wood floors with great accuracy and gets to the places you wouldn’t always clean.
Because it was so good I did have to manually empty the onboard bin as it didn’t clear it when docked. This was after the first few runs but now is just automatic and I don’t have to bother. Would recommend using regularly so that it doesn’t get stuck.
The brush underneath got tangled a few times but it comes with a tool that cuts it straight off and was very quick to clear. Again it’s because it’s so good at pick up that it collects everything that it was bound to happen. Also the tangles are now happening less and less now as I use it more regularly.
The mop is OK and the kitchen tiles left fairly clean but it doesn’t quite do as good a job as a manual steam cleaner. However I didn’t really buy it for the mop.
The app is great too and very easy to use and understand.
The auto empty bin is definitaly worth the money as now I don’t have to clear anything out each time.
The only thing is that I have multiple floors and it only saves a map when you take the dock with it. I can’t seem to buy a 2nd charge only dock easily without importing. Minor issue I suppose.
Buy it now!
I’m still testing its features but looks very promising. Cleans very well, mapping is great, doesn’t miss any spots unless something remains on the floor. Then obviously robot is avoiding object very well. Android App is good and easy to use. The only concern I’ve got is multi floor function. Once robot is moved from one floor to another it’s struggling to locat itself at the begining of cleaning process. It looks funny as it drives over charge station here and there trying to find position to start. It takes about 30 seconds and then it goes very well. Its little unprofessional but I think software update will sort it.
Will update when I connect to my google home app. For now just using the button. It suction increases when it detects carpet. It does the edge first and then goes in an S formation going around. When it gets to the docking station to empty its bin, it’s quite loud, so not sure I will be scheduling any cleaning at night. Does the job.
Good suction and the right amount of water for mopping
Really nice Machine really easy to set up and get working with Alexa and the on-board app would thoroughly recommend. if you use it on two separate floors would recommend getting one of the standalone charging stations
From robotic vacuum cleaner prospects, it works well on my laminated floor and toliet mat, the suction power is strong enough for our floor, but I don’t think it would works well on carpet. What I really like about it is the design of the robotic machine is such a smart way and it’s different compare to my previous one that it makes my life a real easier without to clean the dustbin everyday, it also can suction and moping at the same time, it makes the whole clean process efficient and tidy on my wooden floor.
It’s my first robot vacuum that I use and it’s been doing great so far.
The vacuuming function works very well, and it keeps collecting dust on every cleaning cycle. I’m impressed by the quantity of dirt it collects when cleaning carpeted floors.
It’s not perfect on 90 edges, but it’s quite smart and it tries to find the best way to clean any surface (usually it does the perimeter and then the rest using a S scheme)
The obstacle detection works quite well and the robot can also climb small obstacles making it very adaptable.
The mop function works well. The pad needs to be wet before starting, but it cleans quite well despite the absence of any detergent. It can clean only using water. The possibility to adjust the quantity of water by room is great and perfect for wooden floors.
The smat functions are nice and the app is really good. I just had one issue and had to remap the entire house (process that takes quite some time). You can assign/merge/split rooms, clean areas, specific rooms or the entire house. You can also select the quantity of suction power and water for each room.
The no-mop zone is great for carpets even if the robot is smart enough to detect them (eg it increases the suction automatically when it detects a carpet). Double cleaning a room makes it even better.
The auto-emptying base is really nice and works quite well. Too bad the bags cannot be empty and the refill is quite expensive, not very eco-friendly.
Maintenance: remember to check the brushes as sometimes hair can be stuck in there, especially if it’s a first deep cleaning.
I have given up my vacuum, and I use only the robot now. Great product.
Fantastic. Our last robot vacuum really struggled with some big lips between rooms and a very thick rug in our living room. The N8 gets over all of these obstacles without any issues.
The self emptying vacuum box is great but it does struggle to empty the pet hair when our dogs are shedding. You have to hit the empty button a few times in the app to get it to fully empty when this happens.
This is new level of robot cleaner which came with auto empty station. I love technology so had this white colour model which in very good price compare its technology specific.
It has upgraded trumaping technology which gives much accurate data on my mobile application.
It’s easy to set up and works well with my home Alexa device, once connected to wifi and linked to Alexa , it takes voice commands directly from Alexa.
Main dust collector has quite big capacity so can be emptied every 4-6 weeks depending how busy machine was.
As a hoover itself it has very powerful suction power, compare to out old one, it has 2300Pa which is quite high for robot cleaners.
It also very clever, has carpet detection function so when set up to mop mode it avoids carpets.
Overall very clever and affective modern technology cleaning robot.
Surprisingly good, Love it. More vacuuming power and quieter, No more having to manually empty the Roomba dust bin! No more having to do-fibre and de-fur the (bristle-style) brush! We were totally blown away when the new Roomba emptied it’s dust bin and went right back to cleaning! We can run every single day without lifting a finger and will cover the entire main floor of our house. We couldn’t be happier with the experience and especially love the “favourites” option in the new app… this seriously saves us multiple hours a week! Stop wasting your time vacuuming and spend that time doing something you love! It’s 100% perfect it suits it’s price and description.
This just works. Mapped out large ground floor in one go. App is brilliant to use allowing for the addition of no-go zones and sequencing of the, accurately, pre-defined rooms. You setup on the self empty bin and select on app auto clean or specific rooms and the robot just goes off and does it’s thing. We have combination hard floor and carpets and two labs that shed loads of hair so that is main reason we wanted a robovac. On hard floor, cleaning is perfect. It’s surprisingly quiet, even on Max suction. Hard floors only need standard suction. On carpet, needed a couple of runs (select on app x2) to get up all the hair on max, but that’s being especially picky – a lot of hair up on one go and certainly plenty good enough for daily clean and weekly proper vacuum. Self emptying works like a dream. Scheduling awesome. Only challenge we’ve had is that the threshold between hall and lounge is 19mm. That’s higher than average and most of our dividers. Although this vac says it can mount up to 20mm, it struggles 9/10 times with this threshold, taking a minute or so to find a way and damaging the side brushes. Even so – five stars is well deserved for this time saver – just for kitchen and conservatory alone. Sure, it’s not cheap, but it’s good value.
So far it works well. Dust empty station cleans out everything including dog hair. Works so well I had to turn it off so I could check that the vacuum actually picked anything up. Yes empty station is noisy but only for 30 seconds and no louder that a normal vacuum. Lost map once which may of been my fault. Will update as I go along
Well pleased with our purchase as it works better than anticipated.
The app is not so intuitive and every time I map upstairs it simply overwrite downstairs, so I have given up on that. We have not used mopping function yet, so can’t rate that yet, but will recommend i
I have now got two of these robots, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. They vacuum very well, provided that you remove obstacles you have learned the robot will get stuck on, such as cables or thick mats. The auto-emptying does not seem always to fully work so sometimes I have to manually empty the dust compartment, perhaps because I have dogs with long hair. This is a pain because you pay quite a bit extra for the auto-emptying feature.
The mop does wipe the floor but there is no brush action so I find that marks will often remain. It lacks the vigour for the mopping job, but the main reason I got the robot(s) for is vacuuming.
In terms of vacuuming it does a very good job. The drop-detection does not work well so I block the stairwells so it doesn’t take a dive. Once you set everything up the robot will vacuum tirelessly, with the lights off, recharge when the battery gets flat, and carry on to finish the job. Lights off is good because you can clean at night. You can program cleaning schedules on the App. It has already picked up a considerable amount of dust and hairs. The dogs treat it with wary respect but it has not yet attempted to vacuum either of them up. It also does a good job of mapping the room(s) and then cleaning subsequently in a striped pattern for efficiency. It is fascinating to watch the laser system map out the room, then after it has mapped, the robot does the cleaning in neat rows. It’s quicker if you lift up the chairs but if you don’t it will work its way around all the legs. It can also get under beds, where dust can accumulate due to the difficulty of getting it out. The robot is very quiet, so if I am working it may come cleaning around my ankles while I am at the computer, but it is not intrusive. The robot, like all vacuuming robots, struggles with steps. I have a one-inch step it will not go up, so I just bought some wood and I am going to make a ramp: I think this will work because the propulsion is solid and powerful, and it only stops because the bumper regards the step as an obstacle – a ramp will not trigger the bumper.
All in all, I like this robot for vacuuming and it has saved a huge amount of work. I think if you want a robot mop you probably need to get a separate one that only mops, but I didn’t go for this because it works out very expensive to have multiple machines.
I bought this for 3 main reasons:
1. it is a true intellingent robot vacuum, it is not running chaotic, but based on a real map, on a very good algorithm. In this way i can be sure that each accessible floor is cleaned.
2. self dirty discharging
3. advanced mobile app features: cleaning monitor, room detection, cleaning schedules, etc…
To connect the N8 + to the Wi-Fi network, I had to turn on the vacuum cleaner – the power switch is under the cover, as I found after many searches – and press the reset button until a voice message tells you it’s ready to connect . From there, the app helped me connect to the network and complete the setup.
First I had the vacuum cleaner finish a cleaning and mapping job on my ground floor level. During this initial journey, his movements were temporary, as he explored the space in search of clear paths. After half an hour or so, he had finished his work and returned to the life-changing automatic emptying station, vacuuming the contents of the trash.
When it was finished, I was presented with a map divided into four areas labeled “A”, “B”, “C” and “D”, which roughly correlated with the living room, kitchen, entrance and bathroom. I was able to make them more accurate using the tools for editing merge and split maps. Then I named them one by one, touching the area and selecting from a list of tags such as “kitchen”, “bathroom”, “corridor” and so on. When you rename a room, it is marked with an appropriate icon – a sofa for the living room and a steamer for the kitchen, for example.
Once a map is customized, you can clean the area by selecting a room on the map or clean in order by selecting multiple rooms in a specific order. In both cases, you then set your cleaning preferences by choosing how many times you want the Ozmo N8+ to pass over the room (once or twice), the suction powers (silent, standard, max or max +) and the water flow level. (low, medium, high and ultra high). If you prefer not to set cleaning preferences every time you start a cleaning job, you can set them once, then switch to the cleaning preferences switch, which will make Ozmo N8 + clean according to those preferences, whenever you do an automatic or area cleaning.
I used Ozmo N8 + on both carpet floor and vinyl tiles and it did an excellent job removing dust, dirt and pet hair from both. He passed easily from one type of floor to another and avoided obstacles well. I was pleasantly surprised to see that he could get under my couch – and more importantly, turn from under – despite his turret.
Usually, when I test a robotic robot, I have to deal with it once or twice, because it gets stuck under some furniture or just stops in the middle.
The automatic emptying station looks exactly like what it is – a combined charging station and a dirt container. Like most of these automatic emptying devices, its design suggests that it was inspired by the idea of grafting a conventional loading dock into a small trash can.
Ozmo N8 + can also wipe your floors. A small water tank is located in the back, where you will usually find the trash. Remove it and fill it with tap water, then attach a damp wipe to it with a special plate. Ozmo N8 + can mop as you vacuum and includes an automatic carpet detection feature to prevent carpets from turning into a swampy mess.
Ecovacs says the Deebot N8+ includes a powerful engine with up to 2,300Pa of suction. As a typical consumer, I’m not sure what that means, but I can tell you that the N8+ has definitely done a good job of cleaning the floors. I never noticed any remnants of debris after I rolled it and they always left the carpet with that nice fluffy feeling.
However, when it came to cleaning, I wasn’t as impressed with the N8+ as it was with its suction skills. While the Deebot N8+ includes a wiping accessory, it is very similar to gently pulling a damp cloth on the floor. This works perfectly for cleaning residual dust from parquet, linoleum or tiles. However, this is not exactly what I would call “cleaning”. If there are any stains on the kitchen floors, then you will need to break a real mop to do a wash.
Although you can run cleaning jobs without it, the Ecovacs Home app gives you maximum control over the Ozmo N8 + and allows you to take advantage of mapping features, schedule jobs, and customize cleanups. The N8 + also integrates with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant to enable voice control.
On top of that, Deebot N8+ is an incredible little robovac that helps you keep your house tidy, while preventing you from remembering to empty your trash can and make a mess of yourself.
For home automation enthusiasts, there is a Home Assistant integration, that gives also the map, and the basic control over the robovac.
These robot vacuums seem to get better all the time, I had a Ozmo T8 which i was happy with, although i would have to empty it way to frequently and that was my only gripe.
So as an overview to the robot itself, I believe it’s basically the same unit (although this one is white not like my black one, which i think gives it a sleeker look). I’m really happy with it’s ability to avoid obstacles which are everywhere at our house due to the number of kids at home. It also has an enormous amount of battery which is important to us as it covers a lot of floor space meaning it doesn’t have to go back to base for a recharge half way through, we also have it set up to come on twice a night (just to be extra sure it’s clean).
The added bit this time though is the tower that sits behind it, along with the slight difference to the compartment which allows the tower to suck out the mess inside of the robot cleaner and load it into a bag inside the tower, compacting it up and meaning we can get about 3 weeks worth of mess in it before i have to empty the paper disposable bag.
So basically, if you’re already sold on the Deebot cleaners but want the convenience of having to empty it less then this is most definitely the way to go.
By far the best robot vacuum on any market! This is potentially going to remove manual vacuuming and mopping, definitely for the future. It’s also removes the worst part for any cleaner, replacing dust bag! This incredible robot vacuum can detect when the bag is full and needs replacing, it will automatically go to the empty station and empty the content.
The vacuum has 3 different power levels depends on how much of a clean is required. Standard is at 600pa which is better than most already. The intermediate level is at 1500pa which is what I’ve used it at and has done a thorough job. The max level reaches 2300pa which will definitely remove any dirt.
You can map your home very accurately using the laser technology it has. It’s got the ability to detect any objects up to 2mm which is very accurate. The mopping is also so precise and can be set to how much water flow is required, has 4 different levels to avoid any kind of damping.
The clever robot is can easily detect different surfaces, for example it can detect when on carpet and it will increase the suction power knowing there will be dirt deep in the carpet.
There is also so many other options to chose which is impressive. You can customise the cleaning order using the downloaded app from your smartphone. So you can get it to mop the bathroom last so you will avoid dirty mop use in the lounge. Very clever. You can also chose number of times to clean any room.
There are so many more customised options to chose from which I haven’t even needed to play with yet. It’s by far the best piece of technology I have come across.
